Races:

Elementals: Said to be the oldest race to walk the earth. Elementals are a branch of humans with magical potency. Idolized in some cultures and societies as the ideal of physical condition, Elementals usually stand taller and tend to be more physically fit than other races, the magic coursing through their body is able to heal them and keep them fit much easier than other races. They typically live to around 100-120 years, and their ability to manipulate the elements was revered as god-like for thousands of years, though this has obviously changed. The Elementals are seen by some as a backward culture of religious fanatics who refuse to move forward, due to a large amount of their population having a common polytheistic religion, while this can be true for some cultures, most have learned to adapt the older ways of their people to the newer technology of the modern day. Though hate-crimes toward this race have not spiked or occurred very much over the past several years, subtle prejudice is still thick in the air.

Humans: The middlemen and the most ambitious race found in most continents. Humans are referred to (sometimes affectionately, sometimes not) as the β€˜awkward phase’ between Elementals and Aerians, humans are a sort of mix between the technologically-minded and the magically-minded. Some humans with an elemental lineage (a common situation) are born with subtler magical abilities, though not often to a large or significant extent. These abilities can include things such as: Being able to hover a few inches or a foot off the ground, the ability to change hair colour at will, or the ability to turn liquids into gas. Despite being the largest population in the continent, humans are often regarded with contempt by the other two races. They have an average lifespan of 70-85 years, a height that is not tall or short, and no real large advances in the departments of magic or sciences. However, despite the Aerians’s love of knowledge and literacy, the Humans dominate the realm of myth and arts. While Aerians are known for their grandiose technology and Elementals for their beautiful ancient architecture and elegant culture, most history books are written by Humans, who have left their mark on the world with their wide array of talents, usually involving the fiction they write, their copious contributions to the art/music/dramatic world, and of course their most famous moment in history: creating, implementing, and sustaining the peace/anti-discrimination treaty between the Elementals and Aerians. Humans are known as the jack of all trades, and the unseen ruling class.

Aerians: Said to be descendants of the rebels from the Eenlin Civil War, the Aerians are a technologically advanced race that lives on the floating island of Aeolus, kept afloat thousands of feet off the ground by powerful steam engines and machines. They are a smaller branch of humans, usually growing only from 5’3”-5’7”. They have adapted to the thinner air the high altitude, but tend to be thinner themselves. Asthma is incredibly common among Aerians, which is why Inhalers are a mandatory requirement. Strenuous physical activity can send them into hyperventilation, due to their decreased levels of oxygen and red blood cells. Most Aerians are smaller and skinny, living to about 60 years old. They seem to reject religion in place of Atheism, and have a reputation for their hatred of magic. Though this is true for some demographics of Aeolus Isle, most have learned to co-exist with their fellow magical beings. This race is widely known for being the first to create steam powered engines, flintlock guns and muskets, radio communication, electricity, but most importantly: The Airship. The Aerian education system favours science and literacy above all else, and to some only seem to think in terms of logic and pragmatism.

The Aeolus Isle

Image

The large island in the sky, north of Tineburgh/Kendenn and directly upward. This large city is known for its technological advancements and military strength. It is composed of mostly Aerian and a slightly smaller minority of humans. Since the treaty had been passed decades ago, it has a slowly growing population of Elementals as well (mostly air-type), but doesn’t have the best history of respect for them. The island was said to have been created after the Aerians wanted to break away from the Elemental kingdom to create their own. Years were spent gathering the technology and steam power required to do such a wild thing, and at the height of war, the ground split and the island ascended into the heavens, where it has remained ever since. Breathing aids are given to those visiting for the first time.

The Capitol of Temaria and believed to have the most diversity. Through it’s largeness and claim that nobody would ever be turned away from a hospitable home, the unemployment and often homelessness in the slums of the large city is undeniable. Covered up, but undeniable. The city is 38% human, 31% Aerian and 31% Elemental. It is the capitol trading city for goods and services, and was established after the Eenlin Civil War. It also has a reputation for it’s illegal gambling halls at the back of many bars and run-down departments.
Note on the slums of Tineburgh: Gangs and thugs are incredibly prevalent here.

Illmori

Above Ground:

Underground:

Image

A large city that sits partially above ground and partially underground. Beneath it’s initial large, expansive and frankly beautiful architecture of marble and stone walls lays a set of sometimes romantically and sometimes brightly lit caverns filled with secret ponds, rivers and interesting wildlife. This is the main Elemental city, and it is visited often for its beauty and rich culture. It has of course, a large number of Elementals, a smaller minority of humans, and little Aerians. Most of it’s lights and elegant aspects are created/sustained with magic, much to the contempt of the Aeolus Empire.

Religion:

Main Goddess – Ylena, Mother of The Earth and her Elements.

God of the Skies - Ualdir

Goddess of Law and Justice - Ivtris

God of Knowledge and Legends - Abados

Goddess of War - Oselia

God of Wealth and Medicine – Eione

God of Deviants – Deisii the genderless god.

God of Love, Family, and Relations -Aluis

Goddess of The Arts and Architecture – Erva

Goddess of Sleep, Dreams, and Death – Aisling

Afterlife: It is said in the Elemental culture that when you die, you wander the dream world with the goddess Aisling forevermore, to shape it as you see fit if you have been worthy of this life. The scripture states that humans were given their magic by the gods to protect themselves and the world from the harsh creatures created by Deisii, and was to be a blessing and a sign of love from Ylena. β€œAfter Divine Intervention” refers to this legend, as it was believed that during the thousands of years before that, the world was divided in chaos and death, but united after being given this gift.
(It was also united because everyone didn’t have to fight for their life and could actually learn to read and write, and learn a common language.)

A Timeline:

ADI: After Divine Intervention

The Arcana Aeon: 502 ADI – 581 ADI
This was an age about a century or so ago where Elementals mostly ruled over the kingdoms due to their superior magical abilities. Humans were a smaller sub race that lived among them. In some cultures they were treated fairly, but in the eastern countries humans of frail size or without magical ability could often only find work in Illmori or the former (very large) capitol city of Eenlin as servants or labourers. Elemental history books will state that they were paid labourers, whereas Aerian history books state that they were slaves.

The Age of Rebellion: 582 – 583 ADI
Mistreated humans were tired of being seen as lower than the Elementals, and revolted after a peaceful protest of class differences was disrupted by a fistfight and crude words from their magical kin. Soon after began to the Eenlin Riots, which were violent protests that lead to civil war.

The Eenlin Civil War: 583 – 587 ADI
The civil war lead to many, many casualties of mostly humans. This was when the developments of technology truly began within the human race. Dynamite and muskets were created for war, as well as an incendiary weapon known as Alchemist’s Fire which-- since it was not natural fire-- could not be manipulated by Fire Elementalists. The humans were able to take Eenlin for themselves, and began expanding on other colonies, the most prominent and famous being Tineburgh.

The Age of False Peace: 587 – 634 ADI
This term is used loosely, as the tension between Illmori and Eenlin was running excruciatingly high. Border scuffles were often, discrimination was incredibly prominent in both cities, and hate-crimes were frequent.

The Mechanical War: 634 – 639 ADI
Eventually, the humans of Eenlin began a war with the Elementals of Illmori after an important member of their Senate was found dead just outside the β€˜enemy’ streets. The Elementals argued that they would not break the peace in such a violent act, but the war erupted nonetheless with a push and shove from the Eenlin council. The Elementals began badly losing due to their refusal to fight with anything beyond blades and their own magic. Many who did not want a part in the war fled to Tineburgh as refugees, where they were accepted and taken in by hospitable families and homes. (This also lead to Elemental and Human couples, who produced offspring with a magical side).

The Creation of Aeolus Island: 639 ADI
The humans of Eenlin had been working on a way to separate themselves entirely from the Elementals and continue the war from the skies. In 639 ADI, the Elemental military leader and priest Zephros writes:

β€œAnd before me unfolded an image of great magnitude. The ground began to shake and split as if the gods themselves were tearing it by its roots, slowly lifting it from the ground with great and mighty rumbles that no Earth Elementalist could ever equal. It ascended to the heavens, leaving the echoes of the whirring machines in its wake. Moments after, explosions littered the battlefield, the soldiers flew into the air and returned to the ground as lifeless as ragdolls. I fear we will not win this war.”

The humans of the former Elemental capitol renamed themselves the β€˜Aerians’, and the capitol became the Aeolus Island.

The Concord Treaty- 639 ADI
The humans and Elementals of Tineburgh had seen the effects of the bombs, deciding that the war had to end. The humans went to reason with the Aerians, whereas the Elementals went to tend to their own injured kind. Several representatives from both sides were called in for negotiations, and there was a large debate, neither side wanted to back down for the insult done to them, but eventually Jamie Cartwright, councilwoman of Tineburgh broke through the arguing with her famous quote: β€œOur cultures and cities will be swept away in this war like ants in a flood, if these people are to act like children, I will treat them as such.”
The books say that she had sent out letters to the guards after blocking the exits with the forces that had been brought with her, and she had simply refused to let anyone leave until they came to a proper understanding. A month later, this became the official document known as the Concord Treaty, which states that in the country of Temaria, all are equal, no wars will be wrought. Peace, acceptance of culture, and a unity will be maintained.

The crack of bark and trees followed by a loud collision sounded outside the city of Tineburgh as 'The Icarus' came to a crashing halt, nose first and straight into the ground. The rigging had twisted and curled itself around Piper Moore's limbs, leaving her dangling mere feet above the ground in what was probably going to be the first and last ship she had ever piloted.

Her chest contracted, she had felt the pressure of the air change as she'd decided to swan dive directly into a forest, but had never bothered to truly prepare herself for the atmospheric change. She began to writhe and claw at the rough ropes, trying to free herself, before coming to an abrupt stop as she'd realized something crucial she hadn't paid attention to until it was too late.

Taking in heaving breaths, she glanced down. Despite her preoccupation on trying not to die of a respiratory failure, she could see clear as day: Her inhaler was sitting in the grass below, just out of her reach.

She began to let out squeaks, choked cries and screams while doing her best to keep her oxygen levels stable. If she died of asphyxiation with her Inhaler not two feet from her, she knew that if an afterlife existed, her ancestors would never let her hear the end of it.

Axel stopped dead in his tracks, his back pressed tight to a tall tree before his hands fell to his knees. He wiped the sweat trickling down his face with his dirty jacket sleeve, spitting on the dirt beside him. Had he lost them yet? He didn't even want to admit it to himself that he was scared, but he was absolutely terrified. What was the elemental boy doing? Running for his very life. It would have been much easier if he could have just zoomed through the sky as he usually did. Though it also would have been much easier for them to spot a giant ball of flame in the sky, and get to him again.

As his breathing began to return to normal, he took a hesitant peek around the edge of the tree. Expecting to see the angry group of men charging at him armed to the teeth. But instead he was met with nothing but more trees, and a rabbit that was just begging for him to cook it up and feed his starving stomach. He had finally shaken them, for now at least. It wouldn't be long before he would spot one of their ships in the sky, and their lights would shine on him, and he would be right back on the run again. But for now it was time to celebrate.

He jumped up from beside the tree, pumping his fist in the air as he went and letting out a loud cheer. That probably wasn't the smartest thing for someone to do who was being chased, but who said anything about him being smart? His body flared in a bright flash of flames around him. Flames to which he didn't even notice as he jumped and hollered all around the forest. He had survived another time. The hell was he scared for? A bunch of technological assholes who were trying to kill him with their good for nothing machines, while he was pure energy. Nothing could stop Axel, The Axe-man, The big bad Bowyer, The fi-

*CRASH*

Was all he needed to hear for his mind to stop thinking of nick names and for his legs to start jetting down the forest again. The hell was that? Another weapon? What were they hunting him with now? Would he ever get to cook that damn rabbit? Smoke began to rise from his head as his mind went rampant with thoughts before he stopped abruptly once more, almost slamming into another tree. He knew the sounds of their weapons since he had been fleeing from them for a while now. But that wasn't the sound of one of their cannons, that was the sound of a crash. Memories came back to him as he remembered, watching the Elementals of his kind soar to meet the monstrous war machines. Some falling to the elementals power, while Aisling claimed the others. If an airship had crashed, then that could only mean one thing. His enemies had finally been served up a fiery plate of death.

It didn't take long for Axel to find the site of the crash, peeking from the distance at the destroyed mess of the airship as he rubbed his hands together. Ylena had granted him with two beautiful victories today. Axel being Axel, didn't take take anytime to scout the area or anything. He simply charged straight towards the wreck, with hopes that there would be some corpses left to soak up his urine, as well as some food for him to eat. Though instead of all of that, what he saw before him was a girl, about his age tangled in the ropes of the airship. Looking as if Oselia herself was choking the very air out of her. He scratched his head in confusion, was this the terror that had been chasing him? And why was she struggling so much to get out of the ropes, she should have just accepted death as the people of her kind deserved. His eyes lingered on her for a while, squinting as if he couldn't see her clear as day in front of him. He finally smiled and shrugged, his interest now shifting on the object laying in front of his feet as he lifted it up and examined it.

"Stop struggling, Ylena will bring you too your punishment soon. There isn't anything I could do to help you Aer girl." He said harshly, an accent clutching to his voice (Not sure what the elementals speak but we will figure that out.) as he had no idea what the true problems of the situation was. Even though the solution was sitting right in the palm of his hands, or rather was halfway through his mouth as he began to chew on the object.

With the hot sun beating down on his back as he trudged along a dirt path near the woods, Simon Redcaster could safely say that this was another bad day in a streak of many bad days. He had only arrived in Tineburgh a few days ago, and already he'd managed to blow through all of his money and food without coming any closer to getting the information he needed. He had nothing to his name other than the sweat-soaked clothes on his back, being his typical gray sweater.

Then he heard the thunderous crash from the woods, turning quickly to see the smoke rising into the sky. He instantly broke into a wild and reckless run towards the wreckage of what he assumed to be an airship, only stumbling once in his mad dash. The answer to his sudden shortage of supplies could be waiting for him out there in a massive, fiery heap. Hell, he could even use some of the remains of the ship to make some sort of shelter for himself. With any luck, he'd be the only one with the idea to run towards a crash-site.

But of course, Simon Redcaster is not a lucky person. He stopped himself just at the edge of the woods around the clearing the ship had crashed into, his eyes instantly spotting the other two. They looked to be teens, like him. One was a big, muscled boy, and an Elemental by the looks of his markings. The other a scrawny looking girl, most likely an Aerian. The Aerian was currently tied up in the debris, and the Elemental seemed to be... chewing on something?

Simon weighed his options, but he didn't like his chances in a fight with the Elemental. Given Simon's own physique, he had no doubt he would lose in a fight with an Elemental. Instead of announcing his presence, Simon crept closer under the cover of the trees. Hopefully, these two would leave soon enough.

Piper had seen the Elemental boy approach, and in that she had nearly accepted death. The subtle smoke rising from his skin, the clear physical juxtaposition of the two... if she didn't suffocate, she knew he would deliver to her a fiery death. It was true that her school had been one of the few to integrate Elementals into their classes, though that didn't mean that they weren't the minority. The young man before her caused every stereotype, every nightmare and every single negative aspect of the Elementals she had ever read in a history book to spring clear into her mind. He was prejudiced, she could deduce that much, and he clearly had no idea what the hell he was doing with her inhaler.

Through her own gasps, she began reaching, making grabby-hands toward the object in his mouth. "G-Give me--" she gasped, speaking in strained tones. "Please! I c-can't-- *gasp* --breathe!"

She continued kicking, freeing a foot from the ropes as her face began to turn blue. She was going to die. She was going to die with an idiot standing a foot in front of her holding her key to salvation in his stupid mouth, coating it with spit. The spit of a garbage man.

"Give it!" She choked out again, beginning to cough violently.

Axel stopped mid chew, the inhaler briefly satisfying his taste buds before he realized just how hard it was to chew this thing. He growled in frustration as the inhaler denied him a meal once more, just about to burn the thing when he heard the gasps of the aerian once more. He blinked, an emotionless look in his eye as he watched her grab towards him, reaching out for the now slobber covered inhaler in his hands. He cocked his head slightly, confused at what the girl was reaching at, until he realized just what he was holding. The only thing that could keep the Aerian alive.

Suddenly the emotionless look plastered on his face gave way to a mischievous smile as he moved closer to the struggling Aerian, her face giving a lovely display of colors. He wiggled the inhaler in front of her, just in reach of her grasping hands before snatching it back. This was going to be fun. He had already decided on the game he was going to play. How many shades could he turn her face before Aisling would take her. He began to laugh as she sputtered and coughed, the only bad feeling that he felt about this situation was that more of his kin weren't here to watch the Aerian struggle.

It was through his laughter that it hit him. His kin were not near here, but more of her kind were bound to come to the scene eventually. More of her kind then he would be able to handle. He frowned, his hair changing from smoke to fire as frustration began to come again. He could have this short lived victory and watch the Aerian girl die before his feet. Or, he could-

"Aer girl! You... Want this?" He said slowly to her as if she wasn't smart enough to process his words. He watched her sputter for a little bit more, savoring the joy of watching her pain for a little before he zipped it at her head. "Take it." He said folding his arms and watching her as her slobbery life line was given to her. His plan? Well, he most likely expected her to worship him for his kindness, or at least what he saw as kindness. And use her just long enough, long enough to find some more permanent safety from his pursuers, and then he would burn her alive himself.

At this point, Simon was much closer to the two than he was before. He was practically laying on the forest floor, the front of his sweater getting rather filthy in his attempts to stay hidden. It became clear to Simon that the Aerian was more than stuck, she was suffocating. He watched the Elemental tease the Aerian, seeming to take some sick enjoyment from the situation. What is that thing he was chewing? Simon craned his head to see exactly what it was that the Aerian seemed so desperate to get, despite it having been slobbered on by the Elemental.

Of course. An inhaler. Simon rolled his eyes at the cruel scene. Simon initially felt some obligation to stand up for the Aerian, if only because he didn't want to see someone die. However, he quickly snuffed sympathy that out. He didn't make it this far in life by playing hero, especially not when the villain is a buff-as-hell teen with a literal fiery personality. As far as Simon was concerned, the Aerian was dead and there was nothing he could do about it.

However, the Elemental seemed to have a better moral compass than Simon, as he gives the inhaler to her after all. Simon raised an eyebrow in surprise, creeping closer to the edge of the forest. His interest has been piqued, and now Simon wants to see this through. This day has grown to be quite interesting.

It was no longer panic that seemed to swallow Piper whole, but genuine fury. She had a weapon on her that she could use later, didn't she? Yes... yes. A revolver. She'd blow his miserable, pathetic brains out and then wash his body in Alchemist's fire. She didn't exactly know how to make it, but it couldn't be hard, she knew basic ingredients described in her history book.

Though then it occurred to her that she could only do this if she wasn't about to die. She had just about gone limp with her own hopelessness in self pity, when suddenly she saw the inhaler zipping at her forehead. Her hand flew upward and her fingers closed around it, though she had to fumble for it a few moments due to the sticky mess from the boy's slobber.

She took a final gasp in, holding her breath as she wiped the slobber off on her jacket. Her shaky hands removed the cap and simply threw it off to the side in her own desperation as she began to shake the apparatus, careful not to let it slip from her hands again. She let herself breathe completely out, before putting the thing to her mouth. It took all her willpower to keep things patient, controlled, and most importantly; not to slam her thumb down on the decompresser all at once like a button for detonation.

She could breathe again, she could feel it. She repeated the steps after counting to thirty in her head, and it occurred to her that this experience was like kissing her tormentor, like, with tongue, not even a quick and begrudging peck on the lips. The thought nearly made her throw away the breathing aid entirely and just allow the bittersweet embrace of death wash over her. But no, no...

Once her breathing had calmed down, she found that escaping the ropes was an easier task. After pocketing the inhaler, she simply had to move a few coils, adjust a position, tuck in one of her knees... and abracadabra, she fell straight to the ground.

Standing back up was more difficult than it seemed. Her limbs shook and wobbled, trying to refuse any kind of labour after that ordeal, but she gave her torturer/saviour the once-over, resisting the urge to bite her nails once she'd taken in how genuinely tall and fit he was. She couldn't just throw a punch at him, no... no... it was better to just...

"Th... Thank you..." She exhaled, taking in the unfamiliar amounts of oxygen with each breath. "I... You... You saved my life... I..." She trailed off, trying to find some sort of distraction. "I-I have er..." She trailed off, trying to think of something...

She'd heard his stomach growl a bit, he'd gone to eat the inhaler without even looking over what it was. Was he hungry? Could she use that?

"Supplies! Food!" She exclaimed breathlessly, her scrawny arm throwing itself out to point behind her in the wreckage of the airship. "I-It's ah... it's good, good food. I'd like to r... r-repay you. Here I... I'll get it!"

She didn't wait for him to respond, she simply lunged toward the wreckage of what was her father's ship. Would he see through this plan and grab her? After all, it was relying solely on the boy's stupidity. He was a backwards religious fanatic, just like the rest of the Illmorian people, how intelligent could he be?

For her sake, hopefully he was on par with a rock.

Axel's ears perked up at the word food, his stomach growling and grumbling like a beast was trying to free itself from within. He looked over the girl at her full height, she was truly little. He snorted, how could his people have ran in fear from people so inferior to them. He rubbed his hungry stomach, his hair flame slowly extinguishing and returning back to simple smoke. He watched as she dove back into the wreckage of her ship. Why was the girl so eager? Aerians truly were a crazy bunch of people. I guess it was safe to say, Axel was clueless.

"Aer girl... Did you come.. Alone?" He asked, as he took another slow step towards the wreckage of the airship she was now body deep in. He put a hand on the ropes that had her trapped inside moments before, examining them with furrowed brows as he tried to remember how something like this.. Could cause his people, let alone him to run. There was no magical energy within it at all, she was stuck in ropes when all it would take was the flare of his body, or the use of some air to blow it all off. What advantage did they even have? And that's when he remembered, his face changing from a look of calm to instant rage as he may have been double crossed.

His whole body flared in flames, extending a bit though retracting back leaving his whole body lit. "STOP!" He yelled out to the Aerian, though it may have been too late. He didn't know what kind of technology she had hiding in there. Maybe it was one of those little hand cannons that he had seen tear a hole through his brother. Or maybe, he gulped before trying to go back in there with her. Though his much larger body couldn't fit quite as well as hers. His body flared again in frustration "DAGA NAUH EXIM FELIK! DO NOT TEST ME GIRL!" He shouted out to her from within, a mix of his native tongue and the common tongue flowing in one sentence. He begun to move back from the hole she had vanished from though kept his eyes trained on it, would she be true to her word and return with food? Or will Axel have to burn her alive a bit sooner. Or would Ylena deal him the same fate as his brother.

Simon was equally interested in the mention of food, having been the whole reason he came to this wreck in the first place. He now wished that he was the one to save the Aerian, since maybe he'd be the one to get a reward instead. When the Aerian disappeared into the wreckage of her ship, Simon slowly started to creep out from the woods he had used as cover. He stayed low to the ground in a crouch, and with any luck, he would not be noticed. He figured that since the Aerian was gone and the Elemental focused on the thought of food, now would be the safest time to come closer.

However, once the Elemental started to flip the hell out, Simon regretted his decision and instantly wished he'd stayed hidden under the trees. He fell backwards in surprise, letting out a small shout of alarm before instantly bringing a hand up to cover his own mouth. He was likely close enough to be heard, but he hoped that the Elemental was too distracted with the hole the Aerian disappeared into to notice. Either way, Simon quickly repositioned himself behind the nearest bit of wreckage to use as cover, silently cursing himself for being careless.

"I-I came alone! Mmhmm!" She squeaked out, reaching and straining to get into the bag for her revolver. One shot, that was all it would take. He couldn't manipulate the metal, surely... Fuck, fuck, where had she put it? She did have supplies, a bag of bread.

She heard him yell something, and then stopped, hearing a sort of 'yelp' from above, and then considering another thing she had yet overlooked.

The airship wreckage would be found in less than twenty-four hours and she knew it. If they were to find a dead body near the wreckage... surely they would know what happened. She'd be hunted down and persecuted as a fugitive. It wouldn't be a simple matter of theft, but first degree murder. She couldn't kill him. But then again... by that logic... Neither could he.

She took a loaf of bread from the torn bag, if he was going to get food, it would be the damn food that she didn't need the most. Her right hand finally found the nearly empty revolver, and she spun the chamber into place with a clumsy hand and a 'click'.

She knew he probably heard that. She needed to let him know that she could do damage. That she wasn't about to let herself be burned to a crisp by some blonde idiot with muscle in place for a mind between his ears. She slowly rose from the wreckage, throwing the bread toward his feet and pointing the revolver at his head with her elbow locked and holding the gun as far away from herself as possible.

"Just take the bread... and do NOTHING more than that. That's all I owe you after you spit-bathed my inhaler and nearly killed me. I will put a bullet through your brain if you try to attack me." She did her best to sound menacing, keeping her wavering voice low. "That's all it takes, just a twitch of my finger."

Axel quickly whipped his head around his ears keen to the sound around him, as he saw something scurry off behind the wreckage. Another animal? No, that was the sound of something else. Another Aerian maybe? He swore under his breath causing himself to back up a bit more. Were there two Aerians he had to worry about now? He bit down on the inside of his lip hard, so hard that a slight trickle of blood began to leak. He wouldn't be able to escape the two Aerians now, his best bet would try and be to kill the girl and take on whatever else wa-

*Click*

His head snapped from where the other had vanished off too back to the whole the Aerian girl was hiding in. He knew that sound, it only meant more trouble. He clenched his fist tight, bracing himself for her to pop up and fire at him, more fire spraying out from his back now. He was going to let himself die to two of these ugly, non-believing, tiny, scrawny pieces of- "I WILL! NOT! FALL TO Y-" He stopped mid-sentence, the loaf of bread falling before his feet, putting even more confusion on the boy who was practically charging up to be a ultra flaming beast. They simply stood there silently, Axel's whole body engulfed in flames yet he was simply staring dumbly at the piece of bread, before the Aerian girl spoke up.

Axel lifted his head up slightly to meet hers, they were at a distance from each other, but it was not hard to tell that the boom stick was trained right on Axel's body. Why had Oselia granted such disgusting creatures with such powerful tools. He tried his hardest not to quiver in fear of just what the weapon could do to him. He tried his hardest to keep bravery in his expression, and stand his ground as the fire began to retract, remaining only on his head. He also tried his hardest not to pounce on the bread like a dog and gulp the piece down with one big chomp.

He clenched his jaw, furrowing his brow as he was now basically taking orders from the Aerian. He took a step closer to the bread and snatched it up, not taking his eyes off the Aerian for a second, and peeking behind him every once and a while to make sure the other one wasn't advancing on him. "I do not fear your boom boom stick Aer girl, I have Oselia beside me!" He lied sniffing the bread and licking the top of it, not caring about the dirt that covered it. "You are lucky I even gave you that.. Thing.. I was rather enjoying the colors your face was turning. Much better looking then the ugly color your skin is showing now." He said his stomach growling, he couldn't chat any longer, he had to eat this bread. He opened his mouth wide and dropped down to a seat on the grass, eating the bread with hungry bites. He hung his head in shame that he was eating the Aerians bread, but if eating this Aerians bread was wrong. He begged Ylena for forgiveness, because he did not want to be right.

He sat turned slightly so that he could turn to each side and make note of either of the Aerians advancing on him. "You are ugly and a filthy lie! You did not come alone. Tell your friend to show themself!" He spat out between vicious bites of the bread. He was eating that bread like he was angry at it, stopping every once and a while between bites to mean mug the stale, dirty bread. Yet guiltily enjoying it all the while. He also shot a stare at where the other boy was hiding, before returning his full attention to the bread that he had now devoured.

Simon ducked his head back and behind the wreckage once he saw the Aerian come out of her hole. The Aerian was pointing a gun at the Elemental, but luckily it seems he wasn't noticed. And on top of all that, the damn Elemental still was given a piece of bread. Simon felt his stomach growl at the sight of it, once again silently cursing himself. He hoped that the Aerian would just shoot the Elemental and get it over with, but then the Elemental told her to "tell your friend to show themself."

It didn't take a genius to figure out that the he meant Simon. So he had heard him after all, and he even snitched him out to the Aerian. Great. Just great. Simon poked his head up slowly once more, accidentally locking eyes with the Aerian before flattening himself against the ground. Why had he looked again? He knew that they were looking at his hiding spot, the visual confirmation didn't do anything but put him in harm's way. God damn Elemental with his god damn big mouth. If Simon doesn't get shot himself, he'll make sure to punch that Elemental for this.

On second thought, the Elemental is still certainly the most muscled person in the group. Simon would probably break his hand on the guy's jawline.

Piper didn't dare move until the boy was out of sight. She simply kept hold of the revolver. He'd made some comment about her skin, to which she had responded that they had basically the same skin colour, and hopefully Ophelia would be able to protect him from manufactured lead.

She watched him eat... She'd read that the Elementals had a strong sense of community, and that hardly any were denied food, yet he was famished. Had he run away from home?

She hardly had time to think about that before the blonde gave a pointed glare to an area of the wreckage after making his jab about her not coming alone. Her face paled, she began to shake a bit as the gravity of another Aerian being here so soon weighed on her shoulders. She saw it too, the person's head poking up above the wreckage, but only for a brief moment. She took a breath in as they locked eyes, gulping. They looked... well, from a distance and from such a small glance, they had looked frankly androgynous.

"... Who the hell are you?" She called out, keeping the gun trained on Axel.

Axel blinked as the Aerian called out to whoever was hiding. He had just finished murdering the piece of bread as he swiped his hands against each other. Had he really just enjoyed a piece of bread that came out of the crusty palm of an Aerian. He shivered in disgust, though that wasn't the biggest problem at the moment. The problem was, who the hell was hiding behind the wreckage. Axel rested his hands on the side of his knees for a moment, sitting silently before burping a large puff of smoke. He was still hungry.

He slowly stood back up turning back to the Piper with her weapon trained on him. "Who am I?" he said angry that the Aerian even dared ask him a question. "Who are you!" he spat out taking a heated step towards her as his head began to flare, already angered over such a simple question. The gun trained on him stopped him from advancing any more steps as he thought better of it, his nose crunched up and his lips into a snarl. He folded his arms, "I refuse to speak until.." He turned back towards where Simon was hiding. He took another step over towards him before his body lit up again, flames pushing out from his feet propelling him upwards just a bit, so that he was hovering over the wreckage "Until your friend makes themselves seen!". What he saw confused him even more. It wasn't a person with another boom stick aimed at his head ready to blast a hole into him. It was a boy sprawled out on the dirt.

Axel dropped back down from his hover, a black patch of dead grass all around him before he glanced over his shoulder at Piper raising his hands up in surrender before taking another slow step towards the wreckage where Simon was hiding. He blinked coming around the corner, yet still keeping a bit of a distance as he looked down at the laying boy with a raised brow. "What.. Are you doing?"

Things really went downhill fast for Simon. He was sure the Elemental was about to burn him to a crisp as he lays in the dirt, but instead he just demanded to know what he was doing. Simon slowly picked himself up to his feet, his hands raised in the air in surrender. He looked between the Aerian and Elemental, trying to decide who he should address. Finally, he turns himself towards the Aerian, ignoring the Elemental boy. After all, she was the one with a gun.

"Who am I? The unluckiest person in god-damn Tineburgh, probably," He says with a frown, taking a step closer to the Aerian and away from the Elemental. He tried his best to look unthreatening, which wasn't hard. Compared to the Elemental with his whole flame thing, and the Aerian with her gun, Simon was just a scrawny kid wearing dirty clothes, "I came by in hopes that I could help anyone who survived the crash. It's always been my dream to be a doctor."

This, of course, is a lie. Simon wanted to pick anything valuable from the corpses he hoped to find in this wreckage, but, as he said, he's extremely unlucky and instead stumbled upon two very alive and very dangerous teens. All he wanted was some bread, maybe something to drink.

Piper listened to the human, before scowling. "How long've you been sitting there?"

She made a flicking motion with the gun at Axel. "He's got bread in the bag, there's another loaf." She told the scrawny teen. "He'll probably share, I mean, unless he's a savage or something."

He clearly wasn't an elemental, but with his scrawny build she really couldn't be sure whether he was an Aerian native to Tineburgh or just a regular human. The sooner she could get the two of them out of there, the better.

Axel squinted his eyes at Simon as he stepped away from him and towards his Aerian booty mate. They didn't know each other? Hmm, so the Aerian girl didn't lie completely. Or was this just an Aerian act? His mind raced with questions as he thought on the ways the two Aerians were trying to trick him. Perhaps the scrawny boy was hiding a boom stick in his tattered pants, just waiting for the chance when Axel will let his guard down to blast him away. Axel grinned, fat chance, he would never move his eyes from them for a second.

Axel's eyes quickly turned away from Simon as he spotted a little fur ball of white in the trees. The rabbit! Axel's focus was lost on the pair almost as quickly as he said it would never go, and it was now on the rabbit. Axel took a hard step, about to jet towards the rabbit but kept it just as a step as he turned back to Piper and Simon. He punished himself mentally as he forgot about the two little Aerians already. The rabbit had escaped a shower of flames once more, much to Axel's dismay and he was growing sick of hearing the Aerian's speak.

He bore his eyes back into Simon who was now an even larger distance away from him. "Aerians don't do doctor... Aerians just make loud machines, then sleep with the machines." he said smiling at his own joke. Before his face became serious again, he was getting too comfortable around both of them. He tensed up and took a slow step back. Maybe while the two Aerian's conversed he would have time to turn around and run. He bit his lip again, looking over at the girl with a gun in her hand as she motioned towards him, causing Axel to grip the bag tighter. He eyed them, his eyes slipping back and forth between the two as the girl made mention of sharing his precious bread. "Why would I share with enemies?" He said taking another step backwards, he just needed to get out of the clearing and closer to a tree before he would make his escape. Suddenly he had a plan. "I'll only share when she puts her boom stick down." he said nodding a head towards piper and taking another step back.

Simon sighed, looking between the two with clear annoyance. He finally settled his sight on the bag of bread, his stomach rumbling once again. He knew it was going to be hard to get that bread, especially with the ultimatum of getting the Aerian to put down her... boom stick? Is that what he called it? Simon rolled his eyes, turning back towards Piper and taking yet another step closer to her, his hands still in the air.

"You heard the guy. If you'd be so kind as to put the 'boom stick' down, I'd really appreciate it. In return, I can tend to any wounds you may have gotten in the crash... once I get fed," He says with a pleasant smirk, hoping that he was as good of a liar as he thought himself to be. It'd probably be easy to fool the Elemental, seeing as he was trying to eat an inhaler just a few moments ago. The Aerian, however, may be less likely to fall for Simon's lies. He can only hope the punishment for lying isn't a bullet in his head.

Or a bullet anywhere, really.

"Alright, first, that's just ridiculous. Fornication with machines would lead to horrible chafing on one's genitalia." She grumbled, wanting to add something else, though she secretly feared the idea of getting burned to a crisp for a purposefully insensitive comment.

She'd watched him almost bound after something, before catching himself.

"Why would I share with enemies? I'll only share when she puts her boom stick down."

A giggle escaped her lips at the silly phrase, and she silently cursed herself, as she had unwillingly negated 30 points from her 'intimidating' factor, which wasn't even much to begin with. She took a wobbly step back as the other boy approached her. He'd offered to treat wounds. Wounds? What wounds? Now that she thought about it, there was a sharp and stinging pain in the left side of her ribcage, and once her adrenaline wore off, it would probably be less than a sting...

"... I'll put it down, but uh..." She pointed it toward the blonde again, trying to come up with a quick lie. What was he afraid of? Could she pinpoint anything? Oh yes, yes she could. He seemed paranoid about more Aerians showing up. She could use that. "You had better not try anything 'funny', we Aerians... we have er... a device sewn into our shirts that... tracks our location and heat signals, and ah... if I... if I die, my friends up there," she jabbed the gun toward the sky, "will know immediately."

Praying to no real god in particular that her lie was at least somewhat convincing, she began slowly putting the revolver down at her side.

He blinked, the male Aerian was helping his plan out as the girl was saying words that made zero sense to him. He had learned already to ignore Aerian crazy talk and just stick to the plan at hand. But the next words she said struck fear into his heart that he tried not to show. He frowned as the Aerians had one upped him again. He had to admit their technology was genius, a tracking device in their shirts? How could he possibly escape then. He was halfway through reaching in the bag to toss the boy a piece of the bread hesitantly as his plan had been foiled. But he stopped as he thought even harder about what she had said.

Anger was shown as his body flared in flames for the fourth time today, catching the bag on fire as he tossed it to the side pointing a flaming finger at the girl. "What's stopping them from tracking you now Aer girl? How many of them are already on your trail?" he said failing to remember that there was a gun pointed at him and that he had left the bag of bread up for grabs as he took another heated step towards her. He was sick of being tricked, and now his rage was starting to cloud over his mind. "REMOVE THE SHIRT!" He yelled out to her, he had to burn whatever tracking device was in there before more can find her location. "You better not think of firing at me Aer girl! Because as soon as I see you pull on that boom stick I will make a fire so big it will take this whole forest down with me! Your friends will only find your ashes!" He bluffed, he wasn't nearly strong enough to make a fire that large yet. But he doubted the Aerian girl knew anything about how magical energy worked.

Simon had felt pretty cocky as the Aerian seemed ready to willingly set down her gun, despite the threats of people tracking her by her shirt. He rolled his eyes and gave her a look, clearly expressing that he did not believe her. He had to give her props for trying, at least. And besides, she doesn't have to be very convincing to fool this Elemental. He was about to chuckle at the situation, but of course, things got bad again as the Elemental became angry.

Simon cursed himself for getting so close to the Aerian, who is now a prime target for this guy's fiery rage. The last thing Simon needed was to be caught in the cross-fire between these two, "Hey hey, let's all just calm down. No need to get like this," He said as he stepped between the two of them, hoping that he can prevent the Elemental from turning the surrounding area into a field of fire like he threatened to do. Not only would Simon die in that, but the bread that is rightfully his would be burnt as well.

He looked towards the Aerian, letting out a sigh. At this point, it'll be easier to go along with the lie than try to get her to back out of it, even if his request is rather... ridiculous. "Alright, Goggles, do what the guy says... remove your shirt, I guess," His expression becomes slightly sympathetic, but he changes it back to indifference with a shake of his head. Not his fault the girl said the device was in her shirt, and not her shoes. Shoes would be much less weird in this situation. Besides, the girl is smart enough to find some way out of this, probably.

Piper had begun to panic, cursing herself for making up such an obvious lie. At the very least, she had a way out...

"Didn't you hear me? If I remove my shirt, my heat signal will go down to nothing, since it won't be near my body anymore! Do you want to die, fireboy?"

That was reasonable, she internally screamed. Clearly the other human/Aerian didn't believe her on this, but she didn't need his belief, she needed the Elemental's.

He flared again as the Aerian boy told him to calm down. "I AM CALM!" He shouted out to him, shooting him a glare. He clearly wasn't calm. Though as the Aerian spoke in his favor once more he nodded, pointing a finger at him. "Listen to your friend Aer Girl!" he said before she spoke up again. He only grew more frustrated as she began to counter him, taking yet another step closer to her.
"It's either your heat signal goes down and they can't track you anymore, or I burn you to a crisp and they'll sure as hell see your little heat signal." he threatened again. Hoping that his threats were strong enough to get her to get rid of the tracking device once and for all.

"It's either that, or tell them not to come!" He said, appearing more frantic as he spoke. The more time she spent with the tracking device on, the more likely more Aerians would find her. He glanced behind him and around, making sure more weren't coming already before his eyes landed back on Simon. "YOU! YOU PROBABLY HAVE THE DEVICE TOO! BOTH OF YOU CALL YOUR FRIENDS OFF OR I SWEAR I'M BURNING EVERYTHING DOWN!" Axel said taking a step back. He wanted to get away from here, he wanted to be back safe with his kin, most of all he just wanted to cuddle with a piece of bread. But instead he was here, with two Aerians who were about to bring a swarm down upon him.

Simon groaned, looking increasingly frustrated with how out of control the situation has gotten. He pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head. Not only is it bad enough that he failed to stay hidden, but now this Elemental has mistaken Simon for an Aerian friend of the girl. Just perfect. Simon turns towards Axel, a scowl on his face as he balls up his hands at his side.

"Alright, buddy, let's get something straight. I am not an Aerian, and I am not your enemy here. You need to calm down before Goggles over here shoots us both," He says, then turning back on the Aerian girl, just as angry looking with her, "And you. Unless you want to get cooked like a well-done steak, you better let him burn the 'device' in your shirt... or come up with a better lie," He says the last part in a whisper, not wanting to blow her cover to the Elemental. He just might burn them both to dust for lying to him, and Simon has never been one to snitch.

She sighed to herself, there was no way that she was going to convince him that she wasn't dangerous with that 'device' in her, so, taking a deep breath in before reaching down and gripping the edge of her shirt, tearing off a strip with a wince. 'Damn idiot...' she thought to herself, handing him the strip. "There, it's sewn into there. Take it."
