Eliot Winter

Eliot stretched out his wings far out, extending them as wide as they could go. If his beak would have allowed it, he would have grinned. The feeling of having the large wings of a bird of prey was more satisfying than any other animal he had ever shifted into. The moment his form changed to that of a bird, Eliot was filled with the feeling of freedom. He was able to go anywhere he wanted. Normal humans could fly, but nothing like how a bird can. They don't know the half of it.

His form shuddered and shrunk until he was nothing more than a small blue jay. Once again he stretched his wings out and flapped them a bit before taking off. The trip to the school from Eliot's home wasn't a long one and it came into view almost as soon as he had gotten up into the air. It was somewhat disappointing, he would have enjoyed a much longer flight, but he'd just have to wait until school got out to do that.

Eliot already knew which window was the one that entered into his classroom. He always made sure to memorize where they were before school started so he could fly right in. It was easier that way. The window was open a crack. It was like they've been expecting me, he thought as he fluttered in. He tucked his wings to his sides and looked around. The room was empty, it seemed that not even the teacher had arrived yet.

Opening his wings again, he flew out into the hallway, dodging heads and hands that tried to swat him away. His goal was the cafeteria, maybe he could get something to eat before class began. However, he caught sight of his teacher, Raja. He stopped as quickly as he could, fluttering to a stop right in front of her and growing back into his normal form. The thin limbed, blonde haired boy wearing a sweatshirt and a pair of torn, baggy jeans that looked a size or two too large for him looked incredibly unincredible standing across from Raja. Her lovely snow white hair was braided down her back and her glittering blue eyes shone with confusion.

This was who was going to teach him this year? Eliot had to stop himself from staring. He regained his composure and stuck his hand in his hair, giving it something to do, a nervous habit. "Miss Raja?" He began, "what's wrong?"

"Miss Raja?" He began, "what's wrong?"

Raja came back out of her world and looked at the boy who had talked to her. A smile brilliant smile broke out on her face.

"I'm not actually sure where to go...." she said with a small laugh. She looked the boy up and down with a smile. Blond hair, blue eyes, wearing a sweatshirt and a pair of torn, baggy jeans that looked a size or two too large....what a cutie....and she recognized him!

"Your....Eliot....Eliot....Winter! Your my student huh? Cool." She said her eyes shining. She wondered for a moment if she was going to have a co-teacher, then her mind was consumed with her job. She almost panicked as she realized she didn't really have any plans for how to get the class started....hell she didn't even know where her class was!....she composed herself and smiled at Eliot.

Eliot Winter

"You're....Eliot....Eliot....Winter! You're my student, huh? Cool."

Eliot smiled and nodded vigorously. He knew his name! He definitely hadn't expected Raja to recognize him when he ran into her. His face flushed pink, but he tried to hide it stating quickly, "I know where it is, follow me." Under his breath before whirling around and shifting back into a hawk.

He admitted, it would be strange to be taught by someone who was only two years older than him, but he guessed it would also be more interesting. He was curious to see what the year would hold.

He flapped his wings loudly a few times, clearing room around him in the hallway and making sure Miss Raja was ready behind him, he could fly very fast if he wanted to, before leading the way back to the classroom. Eliot tried to take his time and go as slowly as possible to give Raja a chance to memorize the way.

They quickly reached the classroom again and Eliot landed on his desk and shifted back to normal. "So, teach, what will we be learning today?" He asked smiling, his short flat gained him his confidence back and he was more than happy to talk with the nice looking teacher now.

Eliot led the way to her class. She felt slightly embarrassed that not only was she late but she had to be led to class by a student. She sighed and shook her head at her own faults before putting on her smile again.

"So, teach, what will we be learning today?" Eliot asked

"I don't know yet, but i might just have you help me wing it" she said with a grin at her own joke about his habitual change being a bird. She stepped into the class. There where already students in there and as soon as she entered she had their attention. She smiled.

"My name is Raja, and that is what you can call me. Raja, not miss Raja, or Ma'am i am just raja. Okay, today we are going to start learning how to shift into some of the more difficult of the animals of prey. Anyone have a suggestion?" she asked and waited for hands to go up.

Eliot Winter

Eliot laughed and rolled his eyes at Raja's obvious bird joke. It was no secret that Eliot was a fan of birds, they were the thing he shifted into the most and, to be honest, he'd rather be a bird than human. He was very fond of the creatures, a fact most everybody knew, especially those that knew him. He turned and pulled out the hard chair and sat in it, leaning back and listening to the teacher.

"My name is Raja, and that is what you can call me. Raja, not Miss Raja, or Ma'am i am just Raja. Okay, today we are going to start learning how to shift into some of the more difficult of the animals of prey. Anyone have a suggestion?"

Eliot smirked and held back a laugh, animals of prey came easily to him, this lesson was going to be a piece of cake. He tried to wipe away the confident smile before leaning forward and raising his hand in the air. "How about a jaguar?" He suggested, they were one of the animals that gave Eliot the most problems.

"How about a jaguar?"

The question came from Elliot. She smiled.

“Okay, Anyone care to try before I explain?” Raja asked, though she received no answers. She sighed then smiled.

“Tough crowd” she said with a small laugh.

“Okay, come here Elliot” She said. She waited till he was at her side before she placed her hands on his shoulders and looked at the class.

“This is an exercise all of you can participate in. everyone stand, push the desks to the side, and stand” when that was done she looked to Elliot.

“Okay, close your eyes….Now make clear in your mind which animal’s form you would like to take. In this case, it is the Jaguar. Make your body empty…empty of everything… of being a human." She paused her voice calming and almost hypnotizing.

"You will feel the little things change first, don't focus on that…stay focused on the big picture. It might be a little forced at first, but it always is, push your animal’s spirit through you….become it…feel the way it hears, sees, and moves." She said as she watched the progress of the class.

"As you shift, because we are focusing on Jaguar, go on the ground, hands and knees….i don’t want any unneeded injuries. Now, for the last step…Hear the rain forest…feel the branches…feel the earth under your feet, smell it….focus your attention on those feelings. It makes it easier to make a connection. You should feel yourselves slipping into a trance…” Suddenly all around her there where stretching and yawning jaguars. She felt her own beast calling to her, begging to get out, but she pushed it down. She looked at Elliot to check his progress.
