Wilfred had personally asked the Broke sister, Lane and Clarisse, if they don't mind helping him preparing dinner. He knew they needed to rest but he find it is most effective to know a person over food. So as he peeled and sliced with the girls, he asked them some questions to get to know them well.
Lane was busy perfecting her potato, she did her best to remove the dirt filled eyes with a small pearing knife while she nonchalantly answered Wilfred's questions. She found out that he was very warm and jolly, much like their late father. And instead of being sad, she was glad she'd met him.
"Wilfred," She placed the finished potato on his cutting board and grabbed another as she continued to talk, "How come there are only a few people in the Stillworth's mansion? It is surprising to know that you don't even have any maids." She then looked at Clarisse who was busy cubing some tomatoes, as if asking her sister the same question.
"The house is really big and I doubt you were able to clean it all by yourself," She continued to talk without even thinking if she was crossing the line. Lane was quite talkative for a lady in her age. She loves to ask questions and discovering new things everyday.
"I might even break my arms if you will ask me to clean everything in one day. And besides, I don't want to deal with dirty linens from those boys," She tacklessly blurted. She then realized her mistake when she heard the old bloke chuckle at her public thoughts.
She smiled sheepishly towards her sister but never really apologized for her words. "What?!" She looked at Clarisse who brain is probably throbbing for having to deal with her little sister. "Don't tell me you want to wash their knockers!"
