Appearance:
Hair color – Blonde
Eye color – Steele grey
Height – 5’11”
Weight – 155 lbs
3 tattoos:

Personality:
Luke is very confident in who he is, and he doesn’t let people take that from him. He is also very protective of others. He is constantly sticking up for the underdog, no matter the context. He firmly believes that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and will always try to talk someone down before getting physical.

Luke can sometimes come off as the a brainless jock, but in reality he has an above average IQ, and with it came a certain level of social awkwardness. He feels the only reason he was actually popular in high school was because he was on the football team, otherwise he’s sure no one would have noticed him. He isn’t too keen on large social gatherings and would much rather stay home with a book.

Luke is NOT to be crossed. It takes quite a bit to anger him but once he’s fired up, he’s hard to stop. The angrier he is, the quicker he will be to resort to violence. Many times, when his rampage is over, he won’t remember much of it. It’s like he blacks out when he gets angry.

Dislikes:

Fears:
- Showing weakness
- Failure
- Bankruptcy (the bank taking the house)

History:
Lucas was born to 2 very loving parents: Amy and James Keller. He was an only child, and his parents planned on keeping it that way. His childhood was very normal and he grew up with all the confidence and support a child could ever need. At age 13 he started to realize that he didn’t find himself attracted to girls…he found himself attracted to boys, and by age 14 he came out to his family. Ainsley was the first friend he told (since he had been friends with her since they were children). But soon after, tragedy struck. When Lucas was 16, his father died in a horrific car crash. He collided head on with a semi and died on impact. Lucas was completely broken. His dad was his rock, and the person he felt he could tell anything to. With him gone, Lucas became more withdrawn. His friends could no longer persuade him to go to parties, and his mother became concerned. She tried to get him to see a therapist but he refused. He discovered photography at age 17 and found that it helped him cope with his grief. Lucas and his mother had to move into a townhouse, and they struggle to make ends meet, because his father was always the provider (and he made good money). Lucas works at a gas station and his mother works nights at a local bar but many times they have to go without food to pay the bills.

So begins...

Danielle "Danny" McKnight

'Sure, I'll head right over after I'm done with my shift at Sammy's. Love you.'

Danny read the last part and she finally felt a sharp hint of tears. 'How am I going to tell him? What will he do? What will he say?' she suddenly felt very alone. Her sisters were moving out, her friends weren't all that supportive, her parents would disown her if they found out about her pregnancy, and she had no idea how Jonathan would take it. She cleared her throat and forced herself to finish her normal routine. She pulled on a yellow dress, pale yellow canvas shoes, and a light weight white sweater over the top.

Danny took a deep breath and had to sit back down. Everything seemed to be hitting her at once. She had no idea what she'd do if he wanted nothing to do with her. The world frightened her and she hadn't the slightest clue of how to do things on her own, everything had always been done for her. She stood back up and her hands began to shake. Jonathan would know there was something wrong immediately. She jumped into her 1966 Chevy Impala (which she restored with Jonathan's help), and headed off toward the cafe.

She saw him right away through the windows as she pulled up. She tried to make herself look less nervous but she knew Jonathan could read her like a book. Danny was NOT good at hiding her emotions. She kissed him on the cheek and sat down without a word. After a minute of silence she started "I...I don't even..." but she couldn't bring herself to say more.

Luke pulled into his driveway and turned off his truck. With a sigh he ran his hands through his hair and sat back in his seat for a moment. He was laid off from his part time construction job and he didn't feel like telling his mom. They needed every cent of income they had, so he knew he had to find another part time job...and fast. Minimum wage working part time at a gas station wouldn't contribute much money at all. With a sigh he unbuckled his seatbelt and headed into the house. His mother was making something on the stove but he could tell by the smell that it wasn't much. 'Chicken broth maybe' he thought. "Hey mom" he called, walking up and giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Hey hon. How was work" she said tiredly. Her face looked absolutely ragged from working all night. "Well...actually...I gotta talk to you about that. I was laid off again...But don't worry! I'll find another job soon I promise" he said quickly. His mother just gave him a tired smile and turned back to stir the broth. "It's alright honey. Things usually pan out in the end. I know you work hard. Don't beat yourself up over it." Luke still felt bad, but he nodded. Then she turned back to him. "But we do need some more milk, we're running out. Will you run to the store and grab a half gallon?" Luke nodded and picked up his keys again. "Be back in a few"

He hopped back into his truck and headed off toward the market. On his way he heard a strange noise. It sounded a lot like a cry of pain so he pulled over. It was quickly apparent that he was right. There were 3 guys holding down another, and Lucas immediately became angry. He approached the situation with a calm and collected disposition and yanked the main pain inflictor back by his shirt. "What seems to be the problem gentlemen?" he said, glaring at the two who were holding onto the boy. They quickly let go and took a step away from him. Lucas made it very apparent that he was in no mood to deal with bullshit and he turned to face the perpetrator again. He wasn't going to resort to physical violence unless the other threw the first punch.

Danielle "Danny" McKnight

The words between them were few, and she knew it would happen. Most of the ride back to her car was filled with silence. Not even music played softly in the background. Again she tried to bring herself to say something but nothing came out. She knew there was nothing she could say to make him stay, he'd have to decide that for himself. After a few moments of being in the car he shifted into his normal position and it looked like he was about to grab her hand and pulled back quickly. Danny tried to shrug it off but every move he made brought her some sort of pain. She had never been more in love with someone in her entire life, and she felt it all falling apart.

"So... Have you told your parents about... you know"

Danny wanted to laugh. He knew how her parents were. "No" she said simply. No other words came to mind, though she wanted desperately to tell him they'd disown her. Again they sat in silence for what seemed like eternity. Danny flinched away as he tucked a piece of her golden blonde hair behind her ear. She knew he loved her but his touch only made her heart that much heavier. "Everythings going to be okay" Danny scoffed as he spoke, and silent tears rolled down her face. His words felt like a joke. She wanted to tell him that everything was NOT going to be fine, but all that escaped her lips was a small cry. She quickly silenced herself again.

"I don't think you should be alone right now. Especially not alone with your parents. You should consider going over to your sister's place. Didn't you say they moved out?"

Danny nodded but she had no intention of going to her sister's new apartment. She got out of his car quickly without another word and hopped into her own. It only took her a few minutes to get home, and she ran up to her room and finally let herself cry. Sob after sob wracked her body until she was too exhausted to cry any more. After that she laid silently on her bed and stared blankly at the wall in front of her.

The man shifted his weight and threw a punch directly at Lucas' nose. He quickly dodged it and brought a left hook to the side of the boy's face. Lucas was a bit surprised that the guy didn't make a sound when his fist met his face. He just nodded his head toward his group and they sped off in a jeep. Lucas shook his head and bent down to the boy on the ground, he looked to be in pretty bad shape. Bruises were already starting to form. "Are you alright?" he asked, extending a hand toward the guy.

"You didn't have to"

Lucas laughed. "No I didn't have to, but it's not like i'm going to just drive by as someone is being beaten." then he paused. "Wait...that was your BROTHER?!" he raised an eyebrow. "And I don't care how your brother takes it. He can come looking for a fight anytime. Hell, tell him i'll be waiting" he growled. He helped the guy off the ground and looked him over. "Come with me. We'll get you cleaned up and you can relax for awhile" he said with a warm smile.

Ainsley McKnight

Ainsley watched Cynthis for a few minutes as her sister emptied the bag of groceries, she noticed the hot chocolate and squealed, giving Cynthia a hug "im so glad you got the hot chocolate, I so have been craving it!" She then stepped back, it got really silent all of a sudden and the silence was making her fidgety, she couldn't stop fidgeting her fingers. In the bqck of her mind she knew it could be the drugs but she tried to not think about that. "Well I guess ill go finish um bringing in my things" she said kind of awkwardly.

She went outside and to her jeep where she picked up the last two boxes and brought them up to the apartment then into her room. Her furniture was mostly black and her sheets and blankets where white. She placed the boxes on the floor, deciding she would unpack her things later, she took out her phone and decided to text Lucas.

To:Lucas
From: Ainsley
Hey you! Finally got all my sturf moved out of that dumpy aprtment. What are you up to?

After she sent the text, she put her phone in her pocket then went back out to the kitchen and grabbed the hot chocolate "I think I shall make some hot chocolate, Cyn do you know where the mugs are?" she asked as she started opening cupboard doors. As she looked for the mugs she tried to think of what she wanted to do for the day besides nap, she disnt have classes today but she wasn't up to do anything outside the apartment really. "Hey Cyn do you want to vegge out and watch movies with me today, I am not up to doing too much today. Unless you have plans, I could just ask if Lucas would want to come over" she was hoping Cynthia would say yes but if not she would just bug Lucas.

After the undeniably awkward pause, Ainsley makes an excuse to leave and is soon out the door in order to grab what is left in her car of her things for the apartment. Meanwhile, Cynthia sits down at a bar stool (they don't have a kitchen table, and thus the small kitchen bar of sorts will serve as one for them) to rest for a moment and take a long gulp of her own beverage. The drink burns the back of her throat as it goes down, as all sodas do, making her wince very slightly before setting down the bottle and screwing the plastic red cap back on. I'm not sure how great this arrangement is going to end up being. No, that isn't true. If anyone has self control, I do, she muses, not really being arrogant in this observation. Control is something that Cynthia is nearly addicted to or at least has this desperate need to possess after those years she spent tossed around foster homes at the whims of adults and social workers.

Her thoughts are cut off as Ainsley reenters the kitchen and picks up the box of hot chocolate mix, asking where the mugs are whilst looking through the cupboards. A bit of a perfectionist, Cynthia has made sure to unpack everything immediately and organize them flawlessly, tossing out or flattening down the boxes once their use has expired. "The mugs should be in the cabinet right next to the fridge- here," she is standing now, and reaches over Ainsley to grab a porcelain mug for the brunette young woman. The young woman has begun talking again, now asking if Cynthia would like to 'vegge out' and spend the day watching movies. Careful as she is, the blond young woman had made sure to clear her day unless there were issues with the move- making her effectively free for the rest of the day, something that has been rather rare recently. There are probably more pressing things that she could be doing, just to get them out of the way, with her free day, but Cynthia can't imagine any of them being more enjoyable than watching movies with Ainsley. Besides, she doesn't know who this 'Lucas' fellow is, and is embarrassingly jealous of the idea of Ainsley spending the day alone with him, watching movies. So her face breaks out into a pearly smile as the young woman nods.

"I'd love to.'

Lucas Keller

Lucas' eyes widened as JC confirmed his question. 'How could his brother want to do this to him?' he thought. He had heard a few things about him but he chose not to believe gossip. Now that JC was laying before him bleeding, he understood why people were so afraid of him and why he had such a reputation. "Something needs to be done about that. Why does he beat you?" he asked curiously. "You don't have to answer if it's too personal.." he added. As they got to his truck he pulled a towel out of the backseat. "Here. Use this. It'll help soak up the blood." he said softly.

"Oh, uh, by the way, my name is JC"

"I'm Lucas. I've seen you around before I guess I just never knew who you were" he said with a charming smile. Just as he clicked on his seatbelt his phone buzzed. It was Ainsley.

"To: Ainsley
From: Lucas

That's great! I'll have to come check it out soon!
I'm currently contemplating beating the shit out of someone...I'll tell you more later."

With that, he put his phone away and started his truck. "We're just going to head back to my house. My mom was a nurse, she'll be able to help you. Just keep the towel to your nose." He looked at JC for a bit and wondered how he had come to deserve a beating. He looked so put together...and it definitely looked like his family had money, but Lucas scolded himself for thinking that way. 'Just because he looks wealthy doesn't mean he's happy. Nobody is what they seem" he thought.

When Cynthia reached across her to get a mug Ainsley smiled "Thanks sis, you did a hell of a job unpacking already. I woulda helped ya know" she said as she walked over to the fridge and took out the milk. She filled the mug with milk then put it in the microwave for three minutes. While waiting for the milk to heat she turned around and looked to Cynthia when she said "Id love to". She was now kinda bouncing in place as she felt a surge of energy go through her "Yay im excited, is here any movies you want to watch? I got some in my room you could take a look at if you want".

The microwave dinged letting her know it was done, she opened the door to the microwave and took out the mug. She then searched the drawers until she found where the silverware was and grabbed a spoon, which she then took two packets of hot cocoa and put it in the mug of hot milk. While she stirred the hot cocoa she felt her phone buzz which made her jump and spill some of the hot cocoa on her hand. "Damnit" she muttered as she put the mug onto the counter and waved the hand she burned in the air while she took out her phone with the other. She read the text and her eyes went wide and muttered "Damnit" again. She quickly used one hand to text Lucas back while she was waving the other hand in the air.

To: Lucas
From:Ainsley
WHAT DO YOU MEAN? LUCAS!!! Do you need help?! because ill bring my bat :P

She put her phone back in her pocket then looked at the red spot on her hand, after the sting started to go away she grabbed the hot chocolate and started to sip at it and ahe turned to look at Cynthia. "Do you want me to get the box in your car for you?" she asked as she fidgeted with the mug in her hand and was constantly moving her feet, she really hoped Cynthia didn't notice how fidgety she was but knowing her sister the girl probably would. She then started to think of something to tell her sister just in case the other girl asked.

Could he really tell the boy- er, Lucas, why his brother chose to abuse him like this? Worst case scenario he'd tell him to get out of the car, and it wasn't really that far to walk back to his house. Though hopefully he could get their before his dad got home, so he didn't see his nose. Not that his dad would actually care about that, he'd be upset that JC had gotten blood on his shirt. He took the offered towel and nodded his thanks, pressing it against his nose that had previously started bleeding again. Great. "Well um..that is a bit complicated." He grimaced, trying to think of how to explain his..sexuality. "My family is full of homophobic's, so it was..is..sort of a problem that I..don't find myself attracted to other..females." JC kept his eyes focused on the floor of the truck, waiting for him to tell him to get out or something.

After a few moments of silence he looked over and found Lucas typing away on his phone. Eyes widening, he switched towel hands and reached into his back pocket, pulling out a now-broken iPhone. "Shit." He mumbled, running his finger over the cracks that branched out every which way. With a sigh, he pocketed the phone and tried to take his mind off of his brother and his friends, not wanting to think of the punishment they would have for him when he got back home.

Kellin noticed that his eyes had lingered on her arms a bit too long, and she was about to chide him on it just as he pulled his eyes away. Hers narrowed slightly, but she kept as much of a smile on her face as she could manage. At first she just stared at the extended hand, not planning on taking it. Though she'd already made a point of being "nice" today, maybe she could play the part a bit longer. Taking his hand, she said said, "So nice to meet you John," his name rolled like honey off her tongue. "-I'm Kellin. It's a pleasure to meet you." And then she placed her hand back at her side. Contact, she didn't like people touching her. But she'd made an exception. Her eyes strayed back to Zechariah. "Would you like me to..go back to the guards now?"

Lucas listened intently while JC spoke. He seemed to be figuring out a way to explain his situation. "Well um..that is a bit complicated" he said softly. Lucas just nodded and kept silent as he drove. He knew JC would tell him only if he wanted to. He was about to tell him that he didn't need to share anything he didn't feel comfortable with but JC started talking again. "My family is full of homophobic's, so it was..is..sort of a problem that I..don't find myself attracted to other..females." Lucas wanted to laugh but he stopped himself. The boy had a strange way of dancing around topics. A small smile spread onto his face and he replied, "So your brother beats you up because you're gay?...I guess he doesn't like me either then, but then again...most people know i'm gay."

As they pulled up in front of the house he gestured for JC to come in. Once they were inside Lucas' mom gasped and shook her head. "What in the world happened to you sweetheart?" she asked, gently pulling the rag away from JC's nose. "His brother did it to him, because he's like me..." Lucas replied giving his mother a "you know what I mean" look. She nodded in understanding and shook her head again. "You just sit here honey. Let me grab some supplies"

Lucas pulled out his phone and saw that Ainsley had texted him back again. He laughed as he read the message: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN? LUCAS!!! Do you need help?! because ill bring my bat :P"

"To: Ainsley
From: Lucas

No, I'm good. But it's good to know you'd bring a bat to a fight. :P But, like I said, I'll tell ya later"

Ainsley noticed the look on her sisters face but she really couldn't tell Cynthia about the drugs, could she? Only one person knew and that was Lucas, he found out by accident. She needed something out of her glove department in her jeep and Lucas found the pills. She made him promise not to say anything, which he agreed but told her she needed to get help which she just ignored. Its been about a month since that day. She felt her phone buzz, opening it, she read the text and couldnt help but laugh. She quickly sent Lucas back a text.

To: Lucas
From: Ainsley
Ok you better. Cynthia is asking about my shaking, i told her it was cus of coffee but i dont think she believes me, what do i do??

She put her phone back in her pocket then heard Cynthia mention going to look at the movies and for her to change. She disn't think anything of it, she nodded her head "yeah lets go". She takes Cynthia's hand then heads to her room where she points to a crate that held many different movies, "you can find the movies in there" she said as she went to one of her boxes that was labled sleep clothes. She opened the box and started to go through it, flinging clothes on her bed until she found a pair of grey shorts, a sports bra, and a black tank top. She lays the clothes onto the bed then pulls off her shirt and bra, her back was towards Cynthia, and she put her sports bra and tanktop on then took off her jeans and put on the shorts. After she was done changing she turned around and smiled to Cynthia "Find anything yet? Oh and do we want to watch the movies in the living room or on my awesome bed? My tv would take just a couple minutes to set up" she said as she put her clothes back into the box then sit on her bed and bounced on it a bit as she looked at Cynthia.

Cynthia watches as Ainsley takes another text, eyes just barely catching the name of the sender and identifying it as a male. It could very likely be one of Ainsley's friends, she knows, especially as the blonde young woman doesn't really know any of them- she doesn't really know much about the friends of either sisters, except that her youngest sister was currently dating someone that, yeah, she didn't know. I really should know more about their social lives, but at the same time that kind of feels as though I'm being nosy, the young woman thinks slightly anxiously, though she quickly looks away from the phone when Ainsley looks back up at her. The brunette's attention turned back towards her, Cynthia merely smiles slightly at her before being tugged down the hallway to the bedroom which Ainsley had claimed for herself, which has the bed set up in it and a few boxes in various states of unpacked lying about. The young woman walks over to the designated crate to browse the selection, sifting through them before seeing something and turning to say something to her sister. Seeing Ainsley with her shirt off, her eyes widen very slightly and she hesitates just a tad longer than she should have before turning around and shaking her head. Your sister, you creep! she berates herself, a surprisingly common thing for the young woman- berating herself, that is.

"Yeah- how about this one?" Cynthia suggests, holding up a copy of a Horror-Comedy, The Gingerbread Man. She's seen it before, of course, and never ceases to enjoy how terribly ridiculous it is. The thought makes her smile, pushing thoughts from moments prior to the back of her mind as best the can. "Hm. We can watch it here, I guess. I want to go and change into some sweatpants first, though. Can you set it up while I change?" She places the movie down onto the bed top with a smile before disappearing into her own room to slide into gray sweatpants and a camisole. Right. You have to stop doing this, Cynthia- it's positively stupid and ridiculous, she scolds herself before walking towards the door, only to be stopped by the sight of her full-length mirror hanging from the door. The girl looks into it and sees a bloated image of herself, warped by her damaged perception of what she looks like. All the young woman can see is fat, when in reality she is fading away to be hardly more than skin and bones, hidden behind jackets and thick tights.

I need to lay off the soda, it's fattening, she thinks, pinching her hip with a look of disgust on her face, subconsciously reminding herself that no one will love or accept her if she isn't perfect. With a sigh, the young woman walks back into Ainsley's room and sits down onto the bed.

"Well," Kellin began, crossing her arms and leaning back against the wall. "if you tell me where my room is, I promise I'll go straight there and won't cause any 'drama'." That was probably true, it wasn't like she could get into that much trouble yet. Anyways, she wanted to check out what she was going to have to sleep in for the next..however long she was staying here. But, would Zechariah trust her enough to let her wander off on her own? Considering how she had recently acted, probably not. Though it was worth a shot, right? "And, it'll give you an excuse to come see me after he's done in there." She nodded, half-smirking. It was fun to tease, especially for her. Never having to have anything really be serious. Seriousness was scary, really.

And it would give her a reason to see him again. Which meant maybe she could play with the poor boy a bit more.

"Pretty much." His brother was a..major asshole. And it wasn't that he had anything against gays, or at least he didn't think so, it was that knowing JC was gay gave his brother power over him. It gave him an excuse to beat him, it allowed him to 'blackmail' him in a sort of way. Then the next thing he said actually sunk in, and his head flipped in Lucas' direction. "You're kidding. Really? No, hot guys aren't gay." His eyes widened slightly. Damn, he was making a fool of himself. This was worst than the time he asked the non-pregnant lady if she was having a boy or a girl. Though everyone has probably done that at least once in their life. But calling a guy 'hot'..when you're a guy? Even if Lucas was..homosexual, it still didn't give him the authority to just call him 'hot'.

He tried not to think about it as they pulled up to what was probably Lucas' house. They walked inside and suddenly a woman was there- Lucas's mom. Sweetheart, awe, not even his own mother would call him that. Immediately he liked this woman, and sort of hoped he would be seeing more of her. That is, if Lucas actually like, wanted to be his friend or something.

As he opened his mouth to answer her question, which would be pretty awkward to have to answer. Oh yeah, it was nothing. Just my brother beat me up. Why? Oh, 'cause like, I'm..homosexual. For some reasing he couldn't bring himself to actually call himself..gay. Shaking his head, he listened to Lucas's explanation and then gave a thankful smile. Then his mother spoke again and he nodded. "Thank you, I'm so sorry to be bothering you like this.." When she turned away, JC's eyes flicked back to Lucas and he mouthed the word supplies? with a look of worry, though it was playful.

Lucas chuckled at JC's response. "You're kidding. Really? No, hot guys aren't gay." He smirked as they headed into the house. It was actually nice to hear another guy call him hot. He typically heard it from women.

Lucas leaned against the wall in the kitchen and smiled. "Careful mom you might scare the poor kid away." Lucas said playfully. "Oh hush. I'm just making sure he's alright" she laughed lightly and headed into the bathroom to grab a few things. He couldn't help but laugh at JC's response to her needing to grab some "supplies". He looked down at his feet and then looked back up, making eye contact with him. "She's probably just going to grab our first aid kit. It has all the typical stuff in it plus a million extra things from when I was in football. Don't worry, she really does just want to help. She went to college to be a nurse" 'but never finished.' he added in his mind.

"Oh, you're no bother!" Lucas' mother smiled brightly and knelt back by JC. With a wet rag she gently wiped his face, removing all of the dried blood. "You looked like you were clutching your stomach earlier...do you mind if I take a look at your ribs? I just want to make sure they're not fractured." she gave him a look of sympathy and understanding.

Lucas just watched as she cleaned him up. "She's good at what she does" he said softly with a loving smile on his face. Then he pulled out his phone to text Ainsley back.

"Ok you better. Cynthia is asking about my shaking, i told her it was cus of coffee but i dont think she believes me, what do i do??"

"To: Ainsley
From: Lucas
