"You're a good man, Ryker."

The sentinel locked eyes with the female wolf. Her words were soft and warm, and for a moment Ryker believed her. Suddenly he let out a short laugh. "One day, I'll tell you why that's not true." He said getting up and walking towards her. "But thanks for the kind words anyways."

"As far as 'lone wolves' go, I been one before. It's not all it's cracked up to be..." He said sitting down next to her. There was a time when Ryker would have preferred to be a lone wolf, "My brother once said 'if you're runnin' away from you're fears, you're runnin' in the wrong direction." He told her. Ryker struggled to think of what to say next, but before he could, he heard Leon Calling everybody for the meeting. Not wanting to move from his spot, he turned to Isis, "Can you hear him fine, We could move closer if you like?"

The sentinel laughed, which Isis had been expecting. One day I'll tell you why that's not true. But thanks for the kind words anyways. He said. She wished she could shrug. She settled on just watching him sit next to her. Her mind wandered for a moment, but when he spoke, she blinked up at him. As far as 'lone wolves' go, I've been one before. It's not all it's cracked up to be... My brother once said, "if you're runnin' away from your fears, you're runnin' in the wrong direction."

Isis looked away. Some of those fears can't be conquered by facing them, she thought. But she assumed for most people, that statement was correct. She had been alone once and it had been pretty nice up until a point and then she'd decided she needed to live with others. Maybe Ryker and his brother had come across something different. But that was interesting... if he had family, why was he with this particular pack? Families normally stuck together.

Leon was calling them and Isis looked back towards Ryker and the innards of the den. Ryker seemed comfortable and asked if she wanted to move, but she shook her head. Leon's words made her worry about their current relations with the Rohani, though. Although Isis wasn't sure what the issues between the two packs were-- she assumed it was something small, like just having the same hunting grounds-- she thought if the two packs would talk it out, or at least not be so hostile towards each other, they'd be better off. But... for some reason Narissa isn't all too keen on them. She hadn't come from this particular forest... but the Stiprus had accepted her into the pack. So it probably wasn't having to do with what forest they were from. She recalled overhearing that it came from a rivalry from when the alphas in both packs were young, but...Was that really it, just a rivalry? Quietly, she asked Ryker, Why is it that we and the Rohani are fighting, anyway?

[size=150]Shasta Morgans

Shasta was running, her heart beating in rythm with her paws digging into the soft earth. It was easy to breathe, to think, and not feel confined inside her own head. It was safe to think about things like the Rohani wolves like they were okay, to even think of raiding human farms for an easy meal and even wandering into town. It was safe, but it didn't feel safe to think here. That is until she heard a bit whining nearby, she pulled herself to a stop, throwing up dirt. She looked her around, her ears straining to locate the sound of the soft whimpers. There. She lifted her nose and followed the whimpers back to a female wolf with blue eyes. The wolf from the problem with Sabine, Akitla and Nari. She was a lone wolf now and had no superiors, or followers. Her tail went down into a submissive gesture, but her head held high she sniffed the hunter trap clutched around the Rohani's leg.

Shasta growled deep in her throat, remembering gunshots and vengeful flames that roared for blood. She licked the bleeding leg before shifting into her human form. It looked like the normal mouth full of spikes for teeth looking ones, they were easy to take apart, if that person had the strength. She looked at it from several different veiws and gently moved it so she could twist the screw hiding the pins, then started to twist both at the same time. Now these screws were tightened good, and her fingernails were starting to bleed. After awhile she removed them and saw the pins that held the jaws together. She muttered a curse under her breath as she looked at her bloody fingers before trying to forcefully yank the pins out without hurting the victim. Come on, come on. She was able to pull one pin out halfway, and the pin wasn't even half way. It would have to do. Her finger nails were already abouts to fall off. She put her hands between the contraption of what little space there was between them. She breathed for a minutes or see before pulling the mouths apart, it's teeth digging into her palms and fingers. Her own blood seeped out but the contraption pulled apart slowly. She grunted and snarled, torn between anger and pain. "Pull your leg out now!"

Ryker was finding it difficult to pay attention to his alpha. For one thing, Leon reminded him more and more of his brother, and then there was Isis, even her sent comforted the sentinel. Ryker turned to look at Isis when she asked him about the Rohani.

Well, I heard it had to do something with the Rohani alphas father. He killed someone important to Leon, or maybe there was only one pack, and leon was the illegitimate heir to thrown; some Shakespeare shit like. If you want to know the details your going to have to ask Leon, or the Rohani alpha if you're feeling brave. He told the scout with a smile. All I know is that if we continue to fight each other, then more people will die and their loved one will take up arms and a vicious cycle will begin.

Ryker looked outside, it had stopped raining completely and the moon was shining bright. The meeting is over, you're free to go investigate the mysteries of the forest. he said to Isis.

Leon looked around at all the faces of his pack members, some looked bord others looked confused. but none of them spoke up. Suddenly his face was getting warm. "Alright then, if nobody has any questions, then I suggest we call it a night." He said as he jumped down from the ledge.

"Take the little ones to bed." He commanded one of the male omegas closest to him as he walked towards the back of den where Akitla was being treated. There was an female omega with her and alex, he addressed her first, being that he held the most of his respect out of the three. "Why isn't she in the infirmary?" He ask the nervous looking omega. "Never mind that. Kat, is it? I need you to offer some of your blood to your wounded pack mate. we need our hunters to be well for the upcoming winter." He said with a smile.

Turning his attention to Akitla, his tone was more concerning. "Snow, you disobeyed my order and got yourself hurt in the process. I'm glad to know you're going to be alright. I want you to know that I admire your free spirit and Individuality." He paused to collect his thoughts. "I need you to understand how much I value and appreciate you, because if you EVER side with the Rohani over your own pack again, I will banish you! I will tell my sentinels to chase you out of the forest like you're an enemy and a threat to the pack, and if you ever return so help me GOD, you will wish you didn't. Do you understand?" He spoke through his teeth. Leon waited for her to respond, he needed her to understand he ment every word.

Ryker's explanation made Isis go back to thinking again. She supposed she would eventually have to ask Leon about the difficulties between the two packs, but... probably not today. Leon seemed to be far too busy today. Isis was going to ask Ryker about his brother but he spoke first, saying The meeting is over, you're free to go investigate the mysteries of the forest.

The thought of finding a new cave to wander was enticing, no doubt. ...Well... She said, looking outside for a couple seconds. Sure, she could be called restless... but being with Ryker made her feel very comfortable. It was nice, so she wasn't really keen on leaving him just yet. ...Maybe. Are you busy? Isis played with a nearby pebble as she gathered her thoughts. She wasn't sure why Ryker's presence was so nice. It was so pleasant that Isis didn't actually feel like taking leave of the den to explore and she usually took any opportunity to go out exploring. However, she'd been to most of her usual haunts already today... and on top of that, she had been thinking about puzzles earlier and she really wanted to buy some new ones for her room, now. If you're not, she continued, Would you like to go into town? I was thinking about buying some things and... Leon said we needed to partner up to go... She trailed off, putting her paw over the pebble. Ah. Ryker is head sentinel. Of course he's busy. Isis chastised herself. But she waited for his response anyway, hoping he'd agree to go to town with her. On the chance that he said no, though... she thought she might go hunt for rabbits. It had been a long day and she still hadn't eaten.

"Why isn't she in the infirmary?" He ask the nervous looking omega.

Kat squeaked when Alpha Leon asked her. One moment she was listening to the Alpha’s speech next thing she knew she’s face to face with Leon. She opened her mouth to speak when he said again.

"Never mind that. Kat, is it? I need you to offer some of your blood to your wounded pack mate. we need our hunters to be well for the upcoming winter." He said with a smile.

“Okay he’s smiling that’s good.” She thought. Up close the alpha looks quite handsome with his mismatched eyes. Eyes that seem to know everything that started her to get nervous again. “B-but... master Ryker said..... I’ll get right to it Alpha Leon.” She murmured then bowed her head. She turned to Snow “Please wait here a moment.” She’d rather really not open a vein and spill some blood. She gets extremely nauseous. She looked around for anyone who might help her. She spotted master Ryker and Miss Isis talking and she started toward them. She stopped a few meters away from them, they really look like they’re having a serious conversation. “Oh no... What to do?.....”

Rykers closed his eyes for a moment; only listening to her voice. Truth be told if she asked him to run away with her and never look back, he might actually consider it. Who was this woman? He bearly even knew this person yet he is willing to abandon his post for her. The worst thing was that she didn't know who he was. She didn't know a thing about this old wolf; that he was in a pack that toured around the Midwest as a black metal band and was worship as a cult, that the elders of this pact almost didn't let him join because of his history with pack elders, that he killed his own brother. If he got any closer to Isis, she might find out about is darker past. Part of Ryker wanted to tell her everything right then and there, to go with her to town, but fear got the best of him.

"I think... It would be best if I stayed in for the night." He said; heavy with hesitation and remorse. "If you still want to go in the morning, I will go with you. If you want to go with someone else, I will understand." Ryker cursed himself and his responsibilities. Merely excuse to avoid his uncontrollable urge to be with her. A feeling that excited and scared him.

The sentinel, noticing movement from the corner of his eye, looked back into the den. It was that omega from earlier, Kat. She looked like someone had just asked her to a question because she had that stupid worries look on her face. Ryker looked back at Isis, wishing she wouldn't leave him just yet, but worrying she would. With a sigh he turned back to the omega, "What is it." Swiftly, almost snapping at the poor girl.

Ryker's response was negative, which Isis had expected with such a busy job as sentinel. The scout was disappointed and a bit confused as to why she was disappointed in the first place-- she'd been turned down before, multiple times, so why was this time any different? Maybe it was just the fact that Ryker sounded like he was regretting his decision to stay. He must've really wanted to go. She rationalized. He's head sentinel, though...it must be hard to find time to go into town... Still, he had said he'd come along with her in the morning and that was good enough. She could use this time to hunt. But before she could respond, Ryker faced the omega from before. Isis only briefly saw the look on her face-- worried, nearly frightened.

What is it. He said. It was almost as though he was snapping at her. It surprised Isis to hear the sentinel talk like that-- not because she didn't think he would or could, but...moreso because he usually seemed collected and calm. It lead her to believe that something was on his mind. Something that upset the man more than he was letting on, in any case.

Isis was aware that Kat was very likely to take that the wrong way. Kat was easy to scare, it seemed, at least that's what Isis had gleaned from her previous encounters with the skittish omega. Especially if the head sentinel snapped at her... Kat would probably become terrified and extremely apologetic. She wasn't sure how much Kat actually liked being around her-- Isis was sure Kat thought her lame eye was creepy-- but Isis was pretty sure that Kat wasn't going to respond very well to Ryker's behavior. The scout decided after a thought that she would get something to eat after she aided Kat. Although she wasn't sure what the sentinel was thinking about to make him all but yell at Kat, Isis also decided that she needed to at least partially try to lighten the mood between Kat and Ryker. Did you need something, Kat? She asked politely. ...Is it help with Akitla? Isis got to her feet and looked at Ryker. I'll help her, She said. She wasn't sure exactly how to make him less upset (and to be fair, she wasn't sure that he was upset to begin with), but she'd had good results with submissive behavior with other wolves who had seemed angry with her when she was an omega. So she flattened her ears back and lowered her body just enough to show she wasn't out to challenge him and nuzzled under his chin. She focused on Ryker and managed to say just to him, We can go together tomorrow.

She'd been close enough to know his scent but she'd never been this close. He was comforting and felt safe, but she wasn't sure why it was that she thought that way. Was it his job? Was it just that he seemed to like her? Maybe she was focusing too hard on Ryker...? Isis didn't want to waste anymore of his time idling about, so she backed away from him and turned to face Kat. Come on, Kat. I'll aid you with Akitla if you need help.

Kat flinched. The harsh voice cut through her like a whip. Suddenly the air became colder and heavy with tension. She wrapped her arms around herself. Kat immediately regretted seeking out Ryker. She should have given the blood herself but she needed help. Its her first time, she wanted someone beside her to help her out. Before she can compose herself Isis offered help. Kat breathed a sigh of relief. Grateful for Isis’ help and intervention.

She smiled shyly at Isis, “Sorry to bother you. It looks like you’re talking about something really important.” Kat said in a small voice
