»History«
Alcohol, narcotics, and parties were the typical scenes you could find Raven's parents at from the time that they were fourteen years old until the time that they were in their early twenties. Every night whether there was a party or not her parents resorted to liquor to get them through the days that always weighed them down. They were high school drop outs and decided they could take on the world together. They had their spirits to get them through any hard times, including being homeless a few times.

When Amelia ended up pregnant at the age of eighteen that didn't seem to stop them. They brought Raven into the world with all of their substance abuse, and low income life. The family of three ended up using the food bank several times to feed themselves and what was left over they used to feed Raven. No one really knew what was going on at this point until a couple years later when Raven was only two and a half months old and her mother was about to have another baby.

It wasn't long before Thomas' parents stepped in and gave Thomas an out. He was twenty and had his whole life ahead of him and that he shouldn't be wasting it on a party girl who was weighing him down with children. They offered him a job in the Sivka law firm as long as he went to rehab and took a course or two. Ever since Raven's father was out of her life and soon it was only Amelia, Raven, and the newest member to their trio, Phoenix.

From there Amelia decided to straighten up. The impact of having to raise two children alone became more apparent to her and she got multiple jobs to make some money. She ended up having her older brother watch her daughters for awhile, until she saved up enough to afford something in the tower. From there she managed to get hired by the Penier family as a housekeeper and continued to work there for the rest of her life. It worked with her schedule because when her children were still young she was allowed to bring them with her while she cleaned.

Moving forward in Raven's life, she attended public school and she made sure she stuck with it until the end because she knew her mother would want her to. Amelia had always preached to her and her sister Phoenix that completing school was important and not to get in with the bad crowd like she did. Often times to prove her point she shared her more terrifying experiences in hopes it'd keep her daughters away from the party scene. Raven ended up growing up fast and caught on to the hard times that her mother was going through. She made a point of graduating a year early at the age of sixteen, and then continued on to get a job to help her mother out with paying bills.

This plan worked out really well for about two years. Unfortunately her mother had been suffering from a few painful health conditions and eventually everything built up until she felt severely depressed and then took her own life one night walking into oncoming traffic on a major highway. Raven was stunned with the news. She continued her life the same and she hasn't really had time to grieve about it still. She's haunted by the thought of it every waking and sleeping moment. Needless to say, she doesn't get much sleep and she even considered some very drastic things, but knew it wasn't fair to her younger sister.

Now with the recent news being put out there, her grandparents and father are trying to get in contact with her and her sister. Raven refuses to talk to them or take up their offer for help. Raven is determined to do it on her own.

So begins...

The tune of her alarm went off and echoed throughout her room. She let it go off as she laid on her back in her bed; staring at the ceiling. The same old thoughts kept circling in her head. The ones that revolved around how maybe this time when she woke up and walked out into the common areas, she'd see her mother getting ready in what once was a living room, but was her mother's impromptu room. Maybe her mother really was alive and it was all one big nightmare.

Of course these were just thoughts. These were her very ignorant thoughts. They always said ignorance was bliss, didn't they? With a heavy sigh the brunette pushed back her covers and made her way out of bed. Her body leaned over to her nightstand as her arm extended down to the slightly outdated phone and her finger hit the screen; shutting the alarm off. Her other hand reached up and moved her messy brown locks back behind her forehead as she started to look around for something to wear.

After finding a comfy pair of black leggings and a larger t-shirt with a band logo on it, she began to start braiding her hair to the side for the day. She had no set attire for when she went to clean some of the suites on the higher floors. Slipping on her indoor sneakers she then proceeded to walk out of her room. Once near the door she grabbed her bucket of cleaning supplies as she grabbed her keys and headed out the door.

Raven locked the door behind her and walked towards the elevator. She was going to have to head up a bunch of stories. Sometimes the motion of the elevator made her stomach nauseated, so she'd get off a couple floors early and just go up the stairs instead. It was a quarter past 8:30 a.m. and she finally hit floor 984. After she found the suite she let herself in as she had been told to do before.

There was one boy who lived here currently. It was the son of the couple that had lived here when her mom took care of the place. Raven remembered the day, hearing about how Simon's parents had passed away. These days, she could only help but feel bad for him. Raven knew the last thing he'd want to be her asking about it, so she never brought it up or spoke about it. Chances are he had a ton of thoughts in his head about it, but he's going about life the way that was helping him cope best for it.

When she walked in she had just glimpsed him walking to the bathroom. He seemed to have left the door open and she heard the water running. Her curiosity took over as she walked over. She could see the burn mark on his finger and she looked up to him. She wanted to say something. Her dark eyes glanced over the situation still, afraid to say something. She wasn't used to talking to people when she cleaned. In her head she felt like she was standing there too long, and she was going to look weird, but her feet were planted there and wouldn't budge.

"I uh, believe using the really cold water isn't as beneficial to burns as cool or warmish water would be." Raven spoke softly.

Simon startled at Raven's words. He hadn't known she was here. He had thought that she was busy, or something like that "You startled me" he said, his tone as frigid as the water he was currently running on his hands to stop the burning. Or maybe he should have been running them under cool or warmish water "No matter. I wasn't aware you were coming... he looked at the girl. She was really just trying to help...

But that didn't matter. It was his house and his rules. He usually didn't like it when people told him what to do, and if he was going to make Raven believe that she was no different from anyone else, he had to treat her like anyone else. Right? He was already mildly drunk, and had a headache...he should probably get sleep, but he honestly didn't care. He could do what he wanted. No one to boss him around. Every kid's dream. He chuckled a little to himself about the irony of it, how cruel it seemed.

He turned the faucet off, turning to face Raven. She looked a lot like her mother. Did she? Maybe? Simon's head was sort of spinning, and he never had payed much attention to the cleaning staff. He just assumed they'd always be there, so he took them for granted. Just like he'd taken his parents for granted. His head pounded again. A half-hangover already, and it's not even nine' o clock yet. He sighed. Maybe he should just stay in today. Maybe that'd be best, considering the way he'd partied last night. And the night before that, and the night before that. And pretty much every night since his parents had died in that awful plane crash. He couldn't remember the last time he stayed in, had some time to himself.
