Missionary-Father Aurellius Valdor

The Emperor moves in mysterious ways. Having said that, I'd prefer not to be around when He does.

a character in “The Tide of WAAAAAGH!”, as played by Baphomael

Description

Name: Missionary-Father Aurellius Valdor

Rank: Missionary

Age: 34

Former regiment: 234th

Appearance:

Weapons: Rosarius, Laspistol and Eviscerator with flamer attachment.

Bio: Aurellius Valdor didnt want any of this. The closest to a warzone he wanted to be was, perhaps, from the command centre of a Leviathan or Capitol Imperialis, several miles away from the actual fighting. Better yet, in orbit or a completely differant planet.

But, alas, it was not to be. Throne help him.

Aurellius, as the youngest son to a noble house, was far from the line of succession. His older brothers would inherit the throne or go on to dazzling (and relatively safe) careers in some Lord Militant's command staff. For Aurellius the Ministorum was his port of call. Now, Aurellius is as pious and Emperor-fearing as they come but the Church was not his first choice of career path.

Nevertheless, a career within the Ecclesiarchy could have its benefits. Making the best of a bad situation, Aurellius believed that he could carve himself a nice political career in the Ministorum, rise through the ranks and perhaps set himself up as the Pontifex Mundi of a nice, civilised, world far from any actual trouble.

But, the Ministorum being the Ministorum, other young scions of other noble houses, pushed into the clergy, had similar ideas. Indeed, one had done just that - Bishop Johannes Dantus. Dantus was not a likeable man... not least because the Dantus family were great rivals of the Valdor family. And that is how Aurellius came to this sorry state.

The Bishop, out of petty spite or perhaps fearing his own position, quickly used his influence to have Aurellius shunted into the Missionarius Galaxia, rather than a quiet parochial position in a local diocese that he had hoped for. Rather, his Emperor-appointed task would see him whisked off to a foreign warzone and attached to a Guard regiment to oversee their spiritual health, convert heathen populations and attend to the liberated. It hadnt help that the regiment chosen for him was one comprised of strong, amazonian, warrior-women - a flock so different to his own upbringing he had no point of reference, no common ground, to work with. Indeed, Aurelius did not know where to begin. As one of the few men attached to the regiment he was alienated from the beginning.

Emperor help him, if an enemy bullet took his head off it would be better than this - however, he wouldnt want to give the damn Bishop the satisfaction of quietly disappearing on some Throne-forsaken backwater.

So begins...
