[Nickname]
“Give me a nickname, I fucking dare you.”

[Age]
17

[Appearance]
Sam has raven black hair that makes his cool blue eyes stand out. He is of average height and is on the lean side. He has a thin jaw and is quite attractive, in his eyes. He has tattoos on his arms. A few people joke how his tattoo makes him seem like a time keeper of sorts.

[Personality]
At first glance, he seems like he could be a nice person, funny and kind and caring. He’s an introvert, rude, sarcastic and a complete asshole. He is very snarky and generally doesn’t care for many. But he’s not all bad. Sam can be kind and sweet towards those he is friends with, he is very loyal towards those he trusts and he has a great sense of humor. He’ll poke fun at his friends and is actually rather smart.
He has a temper on him, snapping and becoming rather rude and cruel towards those that had ticked him off. He doesn’t hold grudges for long but he really will never forgive them, depends on what they did to him.

“Even an ass like me has dreams.”

[Background & History]
Sam had always been a rebel; he never listened to his parents. He would drink, smoke and generally just do anything that his parents didn’t want him to do. “They have no control over me,” would always be the teenager’s excuse. He even got tattoos on his arms (On the right). It seemed like he despised his parents, and he did. They made him work at a stupid rundown pet shop, making him believe his life was going to be working there forever. He hated them. Because of his pitiful job and his pitiful family, he was bullied in his pitiful excuse for a school. And it didn’t really help that he looked like the typical ‘emo’ stereotype, at least to his school.
He had been working at his parents’ shop when the police came and told him his parents had been killed in a car crash. He had no living relatives or anything, so he went straight into the ‘system’ as they called it. He hates every adult there. He feels guilty about what had happened and how he had been cruel to his parents, but he knew he couldn’t do anything. He can’t, he can never be kinder to them.

“Not like they deserve kindness, with the things they’ve done…Nothing bad… for them at least.”

So begins...

The raven haired boy looked at the orphanage, his cool blue eyes narrowing as he glared at the run down building. His parents were dead, and the only orphanage in town was this? The teen huffed, lighting a cigarette. He should probably go inside, but he didn’t want to.Sighing, Sam grabbed his belongings (Which was only a backpack and a duffel bag) and walked inside. The boy saw a girl cleaning up some toys and gave a curt nod to her, taking another drag. He dropped the duffel bag with a loud thud.

“Excuse me, but smoking is not allowed.” An older voice said behind him. Sam narrowed his eyes at the woman. He threw her a closed mouth smile before blowing smoke into the woman’s face. The woman glared at him, using her hand to ward away the smoke.

“Oh, did you say something?” Sam asked, his face clouding in mock confusion. The woman glowered at him, walking off and muttering something about unruly children. He chuckled, leaning against the wall. “Stupid fuckers.” He said to himself, taking one last drag on the cigarette before dropping it and stepping on it. A little boy watched him with wide eyes.

“Boo,” Sam said, raising an eyebrow as the boy ran behind one of his friends. He shed his hoodie, causing the little boy’s eyes to widen as he noticed the tattoo that went down his right arm. Not many people understood why he got the tattoo, but he liked it so it never really mattered.

Violet nodded, she agreed with what Charlie had said. "We should probably give the new chick some space Marm," She told the little girl. Marmalade simply shrugged and ran off downstairs. Violet gave one of her rare smile's to the girl and continued to walk through the hall until she ran into two people, one she knew, Caramia and the other, she figured must be the new girl. She was tall, real tall especially to Violet's '5'3 and she hesitated. This one looked like bad news, and so did everyone in a way, but Violet wasn't really looking for a fight, she didn't fight.

"Excuse me." She said coldly brushing past the two and turning down another hall and up a few stairs. While making sure no one was around she moved the chain she wore around her neck from her neck reveling a small bronze key. She put it through the key hole and clicked it open. Then she stepped inside and closed the door.

Meanwhile Marmalade trotted back downstairs and found yet another new person. This one smoked. Marmalade excitedly ran throws him happy as could be. On his arm he had a strange tattoo which interested her.

“Hi my names Marmalade, I’m six years old. Welcome to here, you’re the second new person I’ve seened today. What’s your name? Mine’s Marmalade!” She exclaimed hugged him.

Sam had been on his phone when a small girl ran up to him. He raised an eyebrow at her but was caught off guard when she hugged him. She hugged him.

Oh hell no.

“Hi my names Marmalade, I’m six years old. Welcome to here, you’re the second new person I’ve seened today. What’s your name? Mine’s Marmalade!” The little girl exclaimed as she latched on to him. He really never was hugged, never. His parents hated any physical contact and well, nobody seemed to think Sam would need a hug. He was too much of a jerk.
Marmalade? Isn’t that some kind of spread you put on toast or shit? He asked himself.

He cleared his throat before speaking, “Nice to meet you, Marmalade. I’m Sam and I’m seventeen.” He raised an eyebrow at her, “So I’m not the only knew kid, eh?” He really hoped she wouldn’t hug him again. The subtle shock of her hugging him, a stranger too, had worn off and he rubbed his jaw.

“Say, you don’t know where my dorm would be, would you?” He said, “I should probably find out where I sleep before I fuck shit up.”

"Whoa 17, that's really really really old!" The little girl said drawing out all her really's. Mamalade smile turned into a gasp when he swore though. Seeing as most of the older kids didn't swear around her, she didn't really understand it. It made you sound grown up though, or at least that's what she figured. She shook her head.

"Sam, I think I'll call you Sammy, that's what I named my doggie back home. You remind me of him. I don't know where your room is, but you could always stay with Sally and me, Sally's my roomate, but she wouldn't mind you. What does fuck and shit mean anyways?" Marmalade asked looking up at this strange new guy.

She spun around and noticed Charlie and the new girl picking up lego's from the floor.

"Hey it's the other new girl! The one who play's a violin music thingy. I saw you earlier! I'm Marmalade, and this is my new friend Sam, you can call him Sammy though. He likes saying strange words. He's new too and were going to be best friends, like me and Charlie already are. You can be my best friend too." The little girl smiled throwing a arm around Sam and guiding him throws the two girls.

Bailey looked up when she heard someone talking and coming towards them. She looked over her shoulder and saw a little girl dragging a tall, emo looking kid, towards them. She just shook her head and ignored them, she finished picking up the pieces and stood up.
She looked at Marmalade and smiled, she walked by her without saying a single word. She walked towards the stairway and started to walk up the stairs.

Every time she took a step, she heard a creek, and cringed. The creeking sound brought back memories of the car accident. All she remembers from that accident was, something getting smashed, and hearing a little scream. Then her head flying forwards and hitting the steering wheel, and passing out. She hated to think about that day, how she couldn't protect her brother at all.

If she could some how could change that one minute in the car, she would have traded places with her brother in a heart beat. But she knew as everyone else thought, that changing fate was impossible. Or was it?

Len is bored by this girl, her threats seem empty, all she's got is a guitar and didn't even bother locking her door before she left. So with that she sighs turns in the doorway and begins down the hallway again. In the hall area was a group of teens and Marmalade. Lennon could barely stand having the tiny thing around, most days she could deal with it today was a day like that. Also by Marmalade's side was a guy, Len heard him ask where his room was located and she decided there was no better person to show him to it then herself. She walked up to the 2 and said "Marmalade..." Singing each syllable. Lennon crossed her arms standing tall over the girl. She wasn't looking to scare the little thing today, just wanted to talk to the new guy.

Besides those two Charlie was on the ground picking up legos and Caramia was standing there. Lennon pursed her lips, so many new people today what is with that.

Sam couldn’t hold back his laughter as she asked what those two horrible words meant. He had to admit this little girl was amusing and really making him feel better. He patted her on the head, “My mum named me after her favorite cat.” He said with a scowl, cracking his knuckles. He smiled at the clear pops that echoed through the air.

“And you’ll learn those words when your older, just don’t repeat them now.” He said with a small chuckle. When she dragged him over to two girls, she began rambling about how he was going to be her best friend. Sam narrowed his eyes at the girl who walked away, “Nice to meet you too.” He called at her, his voice laced with sarcasm. He really didn’t care if she talked to him or not, but it was always nice to at least say ‘Hello’. Eh, who was he to judge?

He looked at the other girl, who he assumed was Charlie. He tossed her a smile before removing himself from Marmalade, “So, what do you guys do around here?” He asked, turning in a full circle on the heels of his Converses. Can’t possibly do anything interesting. He lit another cigarette, trying to stay calm.

On the outside he was being rather nonchalant but actually he was stressing out. If he was alone he’d probably break something, but he kept his composure around the girls. The fag was helping calm his nerves too. He took a drag before blowing the smoke out of his nose, watching it in idle curiosity.

He remembered when he told his parents he smoked, they weren’t very happy. His mum began cussing him out, saying he needed to be a better son and his dad had threatened to kick him out. Who cares anymore, they’re dead.

Sam looked over at a new girl, scowling instantly. “Who the fuck are you?” He asked, his question not at all hostile but not exactly friendly. He looked at Marmalade again, “You didn’t hear that.”

Lennon scrunched her eyebrows instantly. "Geez chill out, I was just going to ask if you wanted to be shown to your room." Lennon grinned. This guy was funny, overly mad at the world, smoked, tattoos the whole deal. "Since Marmalade can give you little to no help in finding your room I thought I'd help." She needed to be patient with these new people, something she wasn't good at.

Lennon sighed, he had sworn and she hated that kind of stuff (surprisingly). "So do you want me to show you or not?" Lennon asked one last time. She was about a foot and a half away from his face and little Marm stood in between them, it looked funny from a distance, almost like to adults battling over child custody. But that wasn't nearly what they were talking about.

(OOC:Lennon's not new to the orphanage she has lived there her whole life.)

"That's Lennon." Marmalade said with a slight hint of fear in her voice. She slowly stepped aside. "This is Sammy, he's knew and he's already my best friend." She added trying to be braver than how she felt around Lennon. "He's new." She added.

Violet had left the old timey room as she always did, putting the chain back around her neck and hiding the key. The last thing she needed was for someone to find out about her private room. She was thinking she should probably properly introduce herself to the new girl but if she was anything like Violet thought she could start trouble. Plus the girl looked emotionally drained about something, and usually Violet was the only one like that. She figured she'd give the new girl her space for a while. So that left finding out whatever trouble Marmalade managed to get herself into. Hope she's not still hunting down that poor new girl.

Violet found herself in the living room, where she found Marmalade and Lennon talking to someone she didn't know. Jeez another new person? She walked up to him. "Hey, um I'm Violet, I see you've meant Marmalade."

He didn’t like this girl; he didn’t like her at all. He took a drag as he thought it over, taking his goddamn time. He blew the smoke in Lennon’s face before answering, “Sure, why not.” He said. He gave her a coy grin before grabbing his duffel bag, throwing it over his shoulder with his hoodie and backpack. He looked down at Marmalade and smirked, she seemed to repeat herself on multiple occasions.

Before they could go off to find his room, another girl made her way over to them. She introduced herself as Violet. So far he hadn’t seen one guy; everyone here was a fucking girl. Not that he was complaining, he just found it odd.

“Hey, I’m Sam.” He said, “Yeah, I’ve met her.” He said, tossing Marmalade a glance, “But if she starts cussing don’t blame me.” He shifted impatiently, looking at Lennon. She reminded him of a bitch at his school, major bitch at that. Violet seemed okay, but he didn't know her and he was still pretty pissed off at being abandoned in this hell hole.

Lennon frowned "No need to blow your smoke at me..." She smirked comparing him to a dragon in her head. Lennon showed him down the hallway "Bye for now Marmalade..." She looked back at the little girl and after stopping to talk to Violet they were on their way.

The floors creaked but it didn't bother her she wondered if it bothered him at all. The two of them walked down the hallway to the very end where a window looked out on the streets below and a door was to the right side. "This is it." She turned the door handle and it creaked open as all the other did. The room was bare with one cot on a metal frame in the corner. Cobwebs in the corners of the room. the paint on the walls were perfectly peeled to give the room a creepy feel. "Hey, look there is no reason you should be mad at me..." She looked at the ground for a second before looking up. "Yeah I give the kids around here a hard time but what's the fun if I don't" Then she added quietly "Just lay off a little" This guy was a creep to her and she'd seen it all. I guess the emo type didn't enter the orphanage often. She wondered how long it would take for him to realise no one would give him attention for his darn emo stuff. Len sighed as all this ran through her head. "So I'm guessing you don't want me to call you Sammy" She looked at him.

In the world, there's many different possibilities of how a given situation can end. Take a teenager who's tipsy and driving. They could lose control of the stirring wheel and crash into a tree and get themselves and everyone else in the car killed. They could lose control of the stirring wheel and crash into a tree and live but end up getting one of the other people in the car killed. They could lose control of the stirring wheel and crash into a tree and be the only one to get killed. They can lose control and crash into an incoming car, getting someone killed. The possibilities are endless. This is how Maxwell Burling's mind worked. He was always coming up with different possibilities for different situations. When people ask him what he's thinking about though, he doesn't speak known of the good outcomes.

The noise of people talking in the room across from his brought him out of his thoughts. He stood and trudged to his door. He swung the door open to see Lennon showing so emo looking kid to a room. Max listened to Lennon as he leaned against the frame of the door and crossed his arms. He raised an eye at the girl as she talked. It was slightly amusing to Max, but he dared not say a word as he watched the to, a dark and blank expression on his face.

((Whoa! xD A lot of people have replied since I've been on! Sorry if I miss anyone who has talked to my character. Gonna try to include everyone.))

Charlotte didn't even glance at Marmalade, Violet and the other boy that were talking, she didn't even know they were there.

Charlotte didn't even get to say "thank you" to the new girl that had started to help her pick up the Lego bricks. She hasn't even gotten to talk to the new girl yet. Once Charlotte was done cleaning up, she picked up the Lego box and brought it over to the shelf. She had to rest her arms a couple times because of how heavy the box was...and how small she was. Charlotte is only 5 feet tall...and a little underweight for her height. She wishes she was tall...she's always admired tall people.

She than looked up when she was done putting the Lego box away. She saw a few new people, including another boy that had gave her a smile. Strange...So many new people are showing up today. She thought. I better go introduce myself...I still haven't introduced myself to the new girl yet, either. Charlotte took a few steps forward until she smelt the stench of smoke. Is somebody...smoking here? She began walking towards the smell. Just a few seconds later, she spotted Marmalade and that boy that had gave her a smile before. She didn't know his name. She still didn't even know the other new girls name yet. Charlotte also saw Violet around the people.

Charlotte than walked over to the group and smiled, "Hi. Did you get to say hello to the new girl yet, Violet and Marmalade?" She said, rather swiftly. She than looked over at the new guy that stood taller than her...making her feel short. Oh, wait, she was short. She gave him a soft smile, "Hello. You must be new here. I'm Charlotte..Everyone here calls me Charlie though. And you must be--?" She said, wondering what his name was. She than mumbled "Oh" as she stuck out her hand for him to shake, almost forgetting to do so.

((Sorry if I made a mistake. I was trying to remember all what happened in the other posts. Feel free to tell me if I made a mistake! ^^;))

Sam

Image
Sam’s mood took a turn for the worst when he saw the room, his scowl twisted into a snarl and he glared at Lennon.
“Just lay off a little.” She said to him, causing him to bark out in harsh laughter. He tossed his belongings onto the cot and crossed his arms, leering down at the girl. She was certainly someone he was going to mess with, just because he had the fucking right.

“Not at all,” He growled in response to the ‘Sammy’ thing. He could imagine how he was coming off, a dark cliché that seemed to be in all fantasy romance novels girls at his school read. He shook his head, narrowing his blue eyes at her.
He looked over to see a boy watching them and flicked his cigarette at the boy. He honestly didn’t care if the orphanage burned to the ground, save for little Marmalade. He had taken a liking to the little girl, which says a lot since he hates most people.

He returned his attention to Lennon, ignoring the boy, “Listen,” He said, “I don’t give a fuck about you or your little group of friends. I certainly won’t lay off because you’re a bitch and I can do whatever the hell I want, just because my parents are dead doesn’t mean another has control over me, they didn’t and neither will someone else.”

He then flashed her a grin, “Oh, and if your just as judgmental as everyone else and think I am ‘emo’ you can fuck off.”
He then shoved her out of the room, slamming the door in the girls face before walking over to the cot. He sighed, sitting down and putting his head in his hands.

Lennon glanced back at Max who was in his door way listening. Lennon smirked "You think I have friend? You think people want to be around me?" With that she was pushed out the door and he slammed it shut. "You can't be mad at the world forever!" She yelled at the door and kicked it. She might have taken a swing at him, maybe. But it was his first day so decided against it.

Then she turned back to face Max, a boy she actually liked. He was strange and Lennon took to him nicely. "Hey Maxwell" she walked up to him and ruffled his hair. "Don't talk to him okay?" She pursed her lips looking back at the door. This guy is going to be harder to break then other new kids with problems.

Charlotte lowered her hand with a blank expression on her face. Maybe he just needs....a little time..? She questioned in her mind. She turned around and glanced at Lennon. Those two will definitely not get along anytime soon... She thought as she gave a small smile to Lennon and began to walk away. She had seen enough drama for today.

Charlotte than walked past the new girl's dorm, only to hear the sound of a guitar and somebody singing along with it. She's heard that song before...but can't quite put her finger on what song it was. She turned around and slowly began walking back to the girl's dorm. She stood in front of the door and hesitated to knock at first, but than she gave a quiet few knocks to the door.

Huhmm...how amusing. Max thought as he watched the scene in front of him. He thought that was going to happen, and he thought about what's going to happen because of it. This is going to be interesting. He thought again. He looked up at Lennon as she came over to him after yelling at the door. He didn't even give a hello before saying "Yelling and kicking a door is suppose to do what exactly?" He asked in a monotone voice, his face as emotionless as ever. He never really understood why people would yell, though it made since to some situations. But defiantly not a situation like this. Plus there was no reason for the guy to blow up like that any way.

He looked at the door as Lennon told him not to talk to the guy. He narrowed his eyes slightly. "He seems angry." Max said bluntly stating the obvious. It was always an odd time when something made Mac curious. He remembers a time when he was slightly normal, like other children, and was curious. But now, it was strange. All that was going through his head was the possibilities of what's to come. "Huhmm, why would I talk to him? He seems like an ass." Max said looking up at Lennon with the faintest smile on his face. He then went blank and started down the hall. "I need a pencil." He said blankly as he walked to go find one.

He found one that one of the younger kids were using just down the hall. He bent over the kid and the picture the kid was drawing, his hands behind his back and his head tilted slightly. "Huhmm...that is a horrible drawing." Max said coldly and gave the kid a cold look. The kid looked up at him with a sad face and got up to walk away. As he walked away, Max picked up the pencil and headed back down the hall to his room. "Got one. Thanks for the help." Max said in a monotone voice as he walked past Lennon again and into his room leaving the door open to allow Lennon to enter if she wished. He sat down at a small desk and continued to draw what he had began earlier.

Violet was a bit uncomfortable with being around so many people who she feared wanted nothing but for her to disappear. She decided to stay, only because she missed music. It reminded her of home. Real home, the one up town, in the fancy apartment with the spiral staircase and art studio and music, her mother always listened to music while painting. Violet almost faded in memories and a tear fell down her eyes. That place must've changed a lot in ten years. She remembered being six years old and looking at this place for the first time. The girl she now knew to be Lennon had told her to bolt, and she tried, realizing she'd be stuck there forever if she didn't, but it was a stupid attempt, didn't amount to anything.

And then came the day's of acting cute to try to get adopted. But she just wasn't cute enough. She was strange and scared and talked of things that were so deep and out there they scared everyone away. Were all screwed here, aren't we? she thought. And so now Violet was still here, wallowing in sadness and boredom, the only interesting thing in her life the occasional new person and a little girl named after a fruit preserve. Speaking of which where was Marmalade, Violet had been so deep in her thought's she'd forgetting the young girl.

Marmalade had left the room, growing board as she was hyper. Now she was going in room's hunting down 'Sammy'. She really hoped that Lennon hadn't made him turn me too. She had enough of the other kids her age to bully her around which is why she hung around the older kids. Why just a few weeks ago a kid named Joey had given her a black eye for breaking his roller skates on accident and the only one who'd really help her without saying she should have been careful were the older kids. Finally she found a long since abandoned room and knocked on the door and entered it, a habit she picked up from Violet.

"Sammy!" She exclaimed looking around. His room looked very tiny. "Gee you sure you don't want to stay with me and Sally?"

As Max continued to draw, he glanced up slightly at Lennon as she enter his room. He immediately turned his attention back to his work. Today, he was working on something he tends to draw a lot. It's a well know and well redone picture all the time it's draw. And it's also probably the most ironic picture to be seen. It's a black and white picture of a lone tree out in a field somewhere. The tree has to occupants. A tall man and a small child. In Max's drawings, the child is always depicted being a girl in a grey dress while the man is always in a black suite. The girl is swinging on a swing on one side of the tree while the man is hung by his neck on the opposite side of the tree. Rather dark, wont you say?

And the darkness continues. Max has a whole pile of notebooks filled to the brim of many different drawings that are known to send shivers down the viewers back. Hence forth the reason why not so many people like poor Max's work. He heard what Lennon said and ignored her for a second as he gently and gracefully drew the rope around the mans neck and up to the tree. "No. Why would I do a thing like that? I don't care about people." Max said to Lennon, his voice ever so monotone as he spoke, his eyes not moving from his paper. He was calm and careful as he carefully started to add leaves to the branches of what looks like a dead tree. But then a loud scream from the 'Cute Little Marmalade' made Max scratch the pencil across his picture. He glared out his door as he crumbled the paper into a ball and trough it across the room. "Why must the people here be so damn loud." He said, his voice taking a slight tone of anger. He reached down and pulled another paper out of his notebook and began a whole new picture of what he has named 'The Hanging Tree'. It's a drawing he does when he becomes angry and he puts everyone he has a problem with at that moment on the tree. For now, that has two occupants. Marmalade and the new guy, though it's for no specific reason.

Sam looked over to see little Marmalade bounding into his room. He gave her a tight lipped smile and sighed, “I’ll be okay, I just need a better bed.” He said looking at the cot he was sitting on. “And some goddamn alcohol.” He said, rubbing his eye.

He looked over at her before giving her a smile, “Hey, I need to go out and get some things, okay?” He honestly wanted to get away from the orphanage; he wouldn’t be here long and he didn’t want to deal with people. He grabbed a few things like his phone and his car keys. While he was an orphan his dad had been smart enough to make a will and give him the truck.

He looked over a Lennon and gave her a grin and nodded to her, “Later, bitch. You touch anything of mine and your fucking dead.” He had his wallet, which hung on a chain on his jeans and most of everything valuable. He decided he would keep his laptop under the pile of clothes in his backpack.

He looked over at Marmalade, “Sorry sweetie, you can’t come. But maybe I’ll bring you back something, just don’t go near Lennon or that freak.” He said, tossing his head in the direction of the other boy. He patted her head before heading down the stairs and on his way out of the orphanage.
