"It's a dog..." Her question was answered much sooner than she had anticipated and Ivy was clever enough to take it as a bad sign.. that she had acted wrongly somehow or what she had decided to say, really wasnāt helping things along.
"You don't remember me..." Ivy stared back at the black-haired stranger unknowing what to say. He was correct but it wasnāt right to just say,
āyep, not a clue who you areā so she refrained. She just wasnāt that cold, especially not towards a man who was shaking on the spot for a valid reason. Even though the man appeared a mess, he smiled but it still held a degree of sadness of which Ivy could not comprehend. Instead, Ivy just watched as the dog displayed a sense of comfort towards his owner.
I wish I had a pet.. She thought to herself, believing sheād get along with wild animals better than tame humans. Besides, some animals were more tame than humans.. and humans could be more wild than animals.. sometimes.
"I'm sorry if this is all confusing, I can tell it doesn't make much sense to you. This pet is my 'dog', I don't know what he is but he is a gift to help me in the last round of the Tournament." Ivy broke out of thought as the man explained that he had been given his pet and that it was to serve a purpose in the final round of a tournament.
Wait.. what tournament? Details of the tournament were also a blur in Ivyās mind but she had a feeling it played a part in how she had died.
"We met during the tournament and became close even if it's hard to believe, but then you were killed and I thought I wouldn't see you again." The stranger smiled again, for a little bit anyway until it faded just as soon as it had washed over him.
"I'm glad you're alive Ivy Bronhilda, though I wish you remembered me..." Ivy spotted the manās hand reaching out for her cheek and for some reason, her own hand instinctively lowered to retrieve something at approximately her hipās height but grabbed nothing but air. Was she supposed to grab something anyway? Was something supposed to be there yet wasnāt?
Fortunately in her eyes, the man stepped back and gave her space. Ivy was just so confused by the mention of having a so called āclosenessā to someone. Was she really close to this guy once upon a time? It really didnāt strike her that she was that type of person when alive. Even in heaven where all the nicest people were gathered, she really wasnāt close to anyone.
"I shouldn't bombard you though, if you do not remember anything it cannot be helped. If you wish to know anything I can try and help you, if you wish my help I will do what I can." Ivy simply nodded. āI.. appreciate it.ā She nodded again, still feeling awkward in the maleās company as he had seemingly attempted to touch her again and she wasnāt comfortable with that at all. Especially not in her confused state. She couldnāt tell one individual from the next and she also wasnāt the most trusting of sorts..
"I forgot to thank you, Miss Bronhilda, for the assistance." A familiar voice passed by as she turned immediately to identify the source. It was the man from back in heaven. āCaneā he muttered over to the stranger she was with before continuing past them.
Damn.. heās acting even more isolated than I was. Ivyās eyes focused on the ground.. or at least, where the ground would be if there was one. She really felt like the answers were going to take some time to sink in and for now, she was left in the dark to figure it out herself. While she was offered assistance, she didnāt want to be told who she was or what she did.. she wanted to know for herself. To be sure.
It just wouldnāt be the same to be told something when you donāt exactly feel it.
