"My destiny shall not be bested by inferior mongoloids."

a character in “The Tower”, originally authored by NeverEndingFlip, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Lance DeBrinn

Gender- Male

Age- 22

Height- 6'5"

Weight- 220 lbs.

Stature- Extremely well built...like a soldier.

Personality

Honest, Observant, Tactical, Calm, Arrogant, Aggressive, Blunt.

Lance is very straight forward with people. Never trying to deceive or trick another, he'd rather fight someone up close and personal than lure them into a trap. Few things catch his eye and he more often than not knows when he's being led on. Many complement him on his quick thinking in a heated battle as well as his calm under pressure. However, he knows his skill and is not worried about being hurt by anything or anyone and believes his way is more often than not the right way. He's also very quick to point that out to someone and typically forces the party he's with to go along with it. People disapprove his brash nature when talking to people. He will let you know when you suck at doing whatever it is you're doing.

Skills

Sword Fighting- Physical Skill. He has yet to be beaten in head-to-head combat between blades. He provides quick counter-attacks and furious combinations of strokes on his opponents, often leaving them with many gashes as they fall in defeat and usually death. +2 Attack when using swords.

Agility- Physical Skill. He can be described in the words "Artful Dodger". Despite his tall stature, he can fold up and contort his body in a lot of ways to dodge, reach, and counter another enemy's blows. 25% chance to dodge any attack, even skills.

Dexterity- Physical Skill. He will often make the first blow and then some. He likes to carry the momentum and is good at it. If the opponent takes the momentum, he snatches it right back within a couple of blows. His counters are quick and often decisive in a battle. +1 Attack temporarily upon chaining successful hits.

Power Shifting- Magic Aligned. With the help of a consumable shard, he has the power to change his combat style around an attribute (Fire, Water, Wind, etc.) he chooses to associate with. Eating a shard alone will not do anything to the consumer. A spell must be uttered before doing so in order to take effect...the spell often relating with the attributed shard being consumed. When done correctly, all skills he uses are now associated with that attribute for a time frame of about ten to fifteen minutes. He also gains an array of new skills specifically centered around the attribute.

Equipment

Hat- A very stylish looking white fedora. No actual use...just there for decor. No buffs.

Armor- Hydrasteel Plating. It's lighter and more mobile for him. The plates form around his body like a natural extension of his skin. +5 Defense. +2 Speed. Immune to mortal or critical strikes from blunt weapons.

Weapon- Double Haven Swords. Short swords that are tinted gold, but transparent. The material is custom made and very expensive...an extremely high tier of Carbon Structuring forming the substance known as Haven Diamond. Practically indestructible by force, they're the most reliable things he has. They were forged with the help of an Alchemist, a Wizard, and a Sorcerer in one room. +4 Attack, +2 Intellect.

Gloves- Light tape around his palms and knuckles to prevent friction between the hilt and his hand. +1 Attack.

Charm- He wears a blue pendant shaped into a trinity knot. It has a secret magically ability he has no idea about. Shatters to absorb 1 mortal wound.
Charm of Nullification. It glows a brilliant white. Wearer is immune to Magical abilities if defense is higher than opponent's intellect.

Shoes-White dress shoes that sparkle like military shoes, yet they function as well as Nikes. +1 Speed.

Backpack- Consumable Shards- These shards are the catalyst to his Power Shifting ability. He must eat one to activate it. He carries x6 Fire Shards x5 Wind Shards, x3 Earth Shards, x4 Electric Shards, x3 Water Shards, x2 Plant Shards, x2 Dark Shards, x2 Light Shards, and x1 Mind Shard. The Mind Shard is the rarest of his current collection and the most powerful.
Materials- Spider Fang (Venomous- Alchemist Ingredient)
Golden Shield (Barely Functional- Alchemist Ingredient)
Vial of Life (Restores drinker to full strength.)
Jar of Pure Evil (Alchemist Ingredient)

History

Lance is an extremely skilled warrior with training in Alchemist arts. Not much is known about him except for the fact that he lives as a wanderer in the eastern part of the continent and has fought many evils before. He has a connection with the Magenta line, but it is very faint and he is unclear where it stems from. More to be revealed as the adventure goes on!

So begins...

The monk was glad to counter Lance's strike; with inhuman speed and little effort, Asdom lunges forward and slaps Lance's weapons out of his hands!

With two flicks of Asdom's wrist, both of the warrior's weapons fly from his grip, and land with a clatter several feet away.

Following up on his mindblowing first move, the monk delivers a flurry of a dozen or so flying punches, finishing the combo with a roundhouse kick to the face, sending Lance flying.

Sanul was horrified by the sight of his ally get absolutely thrashed about. "Something's up. Lemme take a closer look at that guy..." he mutters to himself, as he begun casting an analysis spell. His attempt was cut short by a splitting migraine; something was denying him acess to his magic. Nonetheless, he tries again; ignoring the brutal headache and trying to see what made Asdom so special.

Woah woah woah WOAH WOAH!

Lance wasn't expecting to get the killing blow, but he had anticipated maybe Asdom blocking his sword with his fist or dodging out of the way.

He hadn't expected to be disarmed so easily.

Lance had dodged a couple of the punches and even blocked a couple more. But for the most part, he was just above the rank of a punching bag when Asdom attacked. He literally got his ass kicked, sending him flying towards the outer parts of the arena. Regaining composure after a hit like that, he corkscrewed in the air, landing with his feet spread apart, bent forward, finger in front. The force of the kick had actually caused him to slide back a few more feet, despite landing.

The taste of blood was in his mouth. Lance could feel something trickling out the corner of his mouth and down towards his chin He didn't need to put two and two together to realize what the substance was. Spitting out some of the substance out and onto the ground, he rubbed off the trickle and proceeded to look at the residue on the back of his hand, even though he knew what he was looking at.

Red...

Chuckling softly, he turned to face Asdom once more, "Well, I shouldn't expect anything less from your hierarchy. Although I will give you this...that was quick."

He walked away from the wall, ignoring the crowd's reaction to Asdom's wicked first strike, ignoring his weapons on the ground for the time being, and stood in front of the monk for the second time. "Let's see who's quicker."

Interestingly enough, the blows he'd received weren't taxing on him at all. In fact, they seemed to fuel him. He couldn't explain it, but something in the air made him feel stronger, like he could take hits from the immortal all day. It felt powerful. He felt powerful.

He squat down in a ready stance and motioned for Asdom to come at him. Now let's see how he strikes...

Asdom decides to answer Lance's question. He throws a series of punches, kicks and jabs at the warrior; albeit not quite as quick as the first strike, but it is much more prolonged.

Sanul continues to struggle to cast his spells, the strong aura of the chamber making it impossibly difficult for him to cast.

The next stage of the fight began. Asdom was still fast, although not as fast as he was initially. Lance felt great, like he could move a thousand miles per hour, leap across the entire stadium, and dodge and deflect so fast, it couldn't be caught by the naked eye.

So, he did.

Every punch, kick, and jab thrown in his direction was dodged, blocked, or deflected in some way, shape, or form. A right hook was stopped by an elbow block. A left cross pushed inward. Lance straight up front flipped around a roundhouse kick. And he wasn't even tiring from the constant barrage of attacks. He was getting faster and faster.

It got to the point where it became almost too easy to see the next attack and prepare to defend against it. It was this moment that he chose to strike. Another punch whipped forward. Lance instead chose to use Asdom's outstretched arm against him, using it as leverage to leap up and kick him with both feet at once, like a sweep to the legs, only aimed at the head. The force and momentum behind the kick would most likely send Asdom flying and Lance corkscrewing into another stance, ready for phase three.
