Introduction

The year is 2026 and the world has slowed to a crawl. A disease known only as the BlackFlu has ravaged the world for the past 15 years. The virus developed faster than the human race could figure out how to stop it. The symptoms of the BlackFlu were deadly, guaranteeing an early grave if you caught the disease. The deaths caused Jobs to be lost and for the economy to fail completely, prices rocketing up twentfold. This occurrence was known as the Hopelessness of 2016. Europe and Asia got into a dispute over the dwindling supply of fossil fuels, sparking a conflict. Europe was denied more fuels and was outraged by the denial. Europe was dying, and needed fuel. In a hopeless attempt at life, the European Military struck out at Asia, sending everything they had at them. It didn't go well. Asia brought their iron fist down upon Europe, nearly snuffing it completely out of existence. Europe called out for help, and America accepted. The other countries were outraged that America would choose sides, so every country of the world banded together in two groups; The "American Affiliation" and the "Great Empire". The "American Affiliation" had a goal aimed for the greater good of society. Completely destroy the opposing force and take all their resources, as to create a new Unified world, where everyone is equal: A perfect world. The "Great Empire" Wanted nothing more than to simply Quell the "American Affiliation" and stomp it into the groud. They wished to stay divided countries after the war, spreading their influence across the destroyed continents of the "American Affiliation". The war raged for 10 Years, World War III. WWIII and the BlackFlu decimated the world, both sides driving themselves into the ground. 70% of the worlds population was dead, only 30% survived WWIII and the BlackFlu. The world lay in ruins, and human kind was out of options. The two opposing forces grouped together to create "The Unified". This new group was all about peace, and after 5 years, "The Unified" had created "The Megacity": A grand show of human architecture and engineering. This city was the only one in existence, but was slowly growing. The utopia had begun in the heart of America, and had already spread to the size of Kansas and Missouri combined, slightly larger than the two.

It is now the year 2030, and humankind has expanded greatly in the fields of science and medicine. But a recent experiment had gone horribly wrong, a simple strength augmentation gone awry. It had twisted the subjects human DNA into something different, some sort of creature. The beast slaughtered the doctors, and a very curious thing began to happen to them. Their skin started crawling and their bones began reshaping. The beast had injected it's DNA in every person it had killed, turning them all into one of those "things". They named these horrible creatures "Lost Ones". The infection killed about 1000 people before that section of the city was quarantined. The government if "The Megacity" could only think of one thing. Burn the quarantined area. The government completely sectioned off the infected area, detonated C4 explosive all around the quarantine area, softening it up. They then blew the area to pieces again and lit it aflame, attempting to eradicate the virus. The infection survived, at least 100 of the creatures fleeing the scene and into the ruins of America. They then proceeded to kill and infect anything living, human or likewise outside of the walls, adding to the scourge.

The year is now 2035. "The Megacity" is now the size of the Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Nebraska combined. The world is slowly coming back into existence. The infection is now contained outside the walls, and is put to good use. Anybody convicted of a crime is sentenced to "The Trek": A trial in which the convicted is flown 50 Miles out of the city, with many other criminals, and are then forced to survive the trek back, through the infection, to get back home. If they live, they have been taught a lesson and are welcomed back into society with open arms. If they die, well, that one speaks for itself. After a few years of this, the government decided to cut down on crime even more, and televised "The Trek". They recorded the criminals on their way back, turning it into a gameshow. Now, if you survived, you got riches and glory, hailed as the strongest in the society.

It is the year 2040, and you have been convicted of a crime, rightfully or not, and are about to be dropped off at the safe station of "The Trek". You have two hours in a large bunker which is about the size of a football field, various rooms and other convicts littered around. You have just those two hours to grab as much gear as you can, make alliances, and once the timer is up, the doors are opened to the "Wastes", where "Lost Ones" are undoubtedly waiting for their feast. It doesn't matter how long it takes for you to get back, you just have to get back. The whole world is watching you and every move you make. You have two hours of safety, then 50 Miles of Hell on Earth. Do you have what it takes to survive "The Trek"?

  • Your characters should be completely bare-bones, no fully equipped characters. You've been stripped down of all your belongings and dropped 30 miles away from any sort of civilization... Think about it. You can't "find" items, the GM (ME) will say when you find an object... So if you want to search for an item in say, a chest, Make a post that says something about searching the chest, then I will reply with what you find, and It will work like that for all "Search" occurrences.
  • When and if your character dies, you may continue on as "The Lost" and fuck around with the survivors if you'd like :P
  • Don't kill any fellow characters. Seriously, its bad enough that they have to deal with the infected, don't make them have to deal with you trying to kill them as well.
  • This RP will use turnbased combat, much like Dungeons and Dragons. If you're not sure of what that is, google it :)

The low hum of the airplane engine has become slightly annoying, and you find it a godsend when a voice says over the intercom, "You may unfasten your seatbelts and move about the cabin. Don't try anythig funny". Your seat restraint unbuckled itself, freeing you from the restraints. As you stand, you see about six or seven others stand up. Many of them look intimidating, but you've seen the horrible things that happen to loners on "The Trek." you should definitely try to make some friends before you land. "Ten minutes till landing" the voice said over the intercom. The clock is ticking.

Victoria looks around her, observing her fellow 'competitors', not a whole lot of them looked like the usual lot that appeared on this show - though she suspected people thought that of her too, a petite looking woman wasn't going to be bet on to last long. She needed to do something about those bets and get herself recognised. She could take orders - she'd always worked under someone - but she wasn't feeling any leadership from any of the rest of the plans inhabitants.

When they'd left on the plane she'd given up hope, cried silent tears for her husband and her son. That was stupid. She didn't think anyone had seen but she mentally scolded herself for giving up. when did that ever get anyone anywhere?
Back in the present she looks around her again, less scrutinizing this time as she processed her thoughts.
Okay, I don't get on with females a lot, so if I try and get in with a mostly male group that would be best... The Lost Ones need distractions so maybe even a few weaklings if that will help me... God, what am I thinking? I can't use these people as canon fodder, as food.
She closes her eyes briefly and takes a deep breath to calm herself.
There was a young boy near her, she judged her was late teens, shaggy black hair, could have done with a shave... he looked like a loner, he looked like she felt.

She reaches forward, "Hey. You after some company when your out there? Y'know it's the loners who go first."

Jason didn't bother to move an inch when the voice in the speakers spoke up and his belts got unsheathed. He was free from his chair, but he preferred to sit down for now seeing as it was no point in standing up and take a look at his "competition". The events that brought him here flew through his min and he still couldn't believe his own god damn brother had done this to him. After everything Jason had done for him! He had taken care of everything while his brother was gone and how did he thank him? By making sure it looked like the shit he had done was Jasons doing all a long.

"That piece of shit..." Jason thought as he continued to bury his face in his dirty hands. There was no going back and he knew it more than anyone else. Even if he would survive the Trek, which was almost impossible, the government wouldn't just let him walk free. That's not how they operated and Jason being a former government agent knew more than anyone else that they would never pull the cross hair from his back. They aimed to kill him, one way or the other. Be it here in the Trek or back in the city by forcing a drug addict to shot him out in public. His fate was sealed and he knew it. However, he wouldn't go out that easily. Jason had one goal in mind and one thing alone; He would survive this shit, get back to the city and before anyone could realize what has happened, he would kill his own brother for selling him out in the first place and letting the man who killed his entire family walk free.

"Bad move, Marcus. Bad move..." He continued to think as a girl not far away from him raised her voice. She spoke as if she knew what was waiting for her out there, and yet her voice couldn't be from someone older than 20 years at least. She wouldn't have much experience when it came to weapons and hell, she might not even know how to kill a person or in this case, "monsters". Jason knew what was waiting for him and the rest out there. The last three months he has been watching every tape of the past few shows and he was convinced that he had discovered the lost ones weaknesses, their strengths and how they operated, both alone and in groups. However, Jason wouldn't share that with these people. For all he knew they might shot him in the back the moment they came out of sight from that damned cell they were going to. He had to have a leverage over them, and that's exactly what he had right now, they just didn't know it yet.

"You sure about that, missy?" Jason spoke up with his cold and experienced voice as he raised his head from his hands and looked at the girl sitting next to a young guy. "Are you sure the loners are the first to go? I've seen how these creatures operate and they won't go for the small preys first, no. They will go for the big challenges first and then pick us out, one by one. We're weak in both situations and yet, we're also strong in both." And with that Jason rose up from his seat and walked across the little cozy room they currently were in. He stared into the black wall in front of him for a few seconds before turning to the girl and the young boy once more.

"Ain't nobody in this room who will survive The Trek unless they use the right tactics out there and the right precautions. Now I know what I will have to do to survive this shit..." Jason continued and scanned the other people in the small room. They all looked a bit confused, but at the same time it seemed as if every single one of them had a motive and that they knew what they would eventually have to do to survive all of this, "Do you, missy?" He asked where he stood, watching the girl and the other inmates for any kind of reaction. Resistance was futile and being an asshole wouldn't make things better for him, but Jason had to be straight with them and there was no point in manipulating them to his cause since it could come around later and bite him in the ass out in the wasteland.

Eddy sat timidly, letting the seatbelt unfasten from him. He looked around the room and saw a variety of... Interesting people. He saw a huge Asian dude, a little but strong boxer or fighter of some sort, a man who looked like he could have you killed you just by an odd look and a phone call, a very tough looking man with scars covering his face, a young girl who was thin but intimidating all the same, and a girl about his age with piercing yellow eyes whom he couldn't distinguish much from. He sat in self pity, wonderng what he was going to do... He was an underage alcoholic and he had drank heavily the night before. His head ached and he scolded himself for drinking so much. He was about to stand from his seat when the woman with yellow eyes came over to him and sat, asking to partner up. Companionship was a vital thing on "The Trek", sO he was abOut to accept her offer when the big Asian guy started talking. He took in his words, and after he had finished talking and came over to them, Eddy shrugged and looked at the girl to see what she would say, since the Asian guy had addressed her directly. Eddy's quiet tendencies took over as he had nothing to say as the two began to talk...

Victoria looked up in surprise at the interruption, examining the man before her and guessing he must be around ten years her senior.

“Missy?” she repeats coldly, raising her eyebrows as a scowl sets in. “Everyone here with any sense had watched old Treks again and again, any one can see both ways have their advantage. My build, my strengths, I'm better in a group.” She tells him – emotionless.

She pauses for a moment before speaking again, “I know how to use anything as a weapon, I know the tricks of my trade and I think I can make it – I want to get home to my son, I don't give a damn about anything else. Join me if you want to, if you think it will help – but don't underestimate me.”
She glares at him a little longer after she finishes speaking before turning to the hungover boy, still in his chair.
“Yay or nay, young man?”

As the intercom shut off, Frank took in his companions. The one he was interested in was the drunk teenager, he seemed silent and able to help those who ask. Frank listens to the two bickering people about survival, and slowly rose from his seat to head toward the teen. When the two stopped arguing, he sat next to the drunk, saying, "Hey, how would you like to be my friend on this hellish journey? Everyone needs a friend once in a while" The boy seemed to have some trouble answering the question, so he could be assumed to be having a hangover.

When his seatbelts clicked open, Jon opened his eyes. He had been sleeping for most of the trip, on and off every few hours. He didn't take time to look at his fellow "contestants", he had observed them enough in between his naps. The kid with black hair and five 'o clock shadow was obviously a drunk, the girl with the petite frame and curly hair appeared weak at first, but upon closer inspection, you realized she knew how to handle herself. There was another girl, and if Jon wasn't mistaken, a hunter. Her rough hands and hawk-like eyes attested to that. Then there was Frank "Lightning Fist" Annot. Jon had recognised the man almost instantly. Jon was a fan of boxing and had seen a few of Frank's fights. The last two men, the Asian and the Guy in the Prison jumpsuit. Both men looked as if they grew up on the worse side of town and thought the world of themselves. Jon knew their type all too well. He had met several men like them during his stint in the Marines. Those guys were always the first to go, mainly because they honestly thought they were invincible.

Jon heard several of the others talking amongst themselves. He didn't pay attention, mostly just because he didn't feel like listening to a bunch of convicts talk a big game as if it meant something. They were all slotted to die on public t.v., their grusome deaths designed to bring joy to the masses. Jon closed his eyes again. He thought he might as well catch one last quick nap. He was going to need all the energy he could muster if he was going to survive the Walk back.

And just in case you weren't sure, I was addressing your character McDumbass. :)

Re: [OOC] The Trek

I got an intro up... I know it's short, but it's enough to get things going :)

Re: [OOC] The Trek

Alright, well I only got half a hour before I have to rush to the buss, but then I got like 4 hours before I even start any class in school. -.- So I got plenty of time once I'm there. xD

Re: [OOC] The Trek

Sibrand!!! As soon as you make a character, we'll start!

Re: [OOC] The Trek

I am still here.

Re: [OOC] The Trek

I can still join in if you need me. :D If you're full then I can understand why you cannot accept me. ;)

Re: [OOC] The Trek

I'm so sorry guys! Ivve beenso busy with homework, I haven't had time to do this... Post and tell me if you guys are still with me :/ I'm really sorry...

Re: [OOC] The Trek

So what's happening with this? There's no activity on it :(

Re: [OOC] The Trek

I think an intro would be good, set the scene sort of thing?

Re: [OOC] The Trek

Well... eh, should i do an intro or do one of you guys wanna start? And my ipod is dumb so i lost the lost ones ooc post AGAIN. But I'll actually do it on my computer while you guys are rummaging around the bunker

Re: [OOC] The Trek

Well... I lost my whole lost ones post... (ironic, right?) I'll start it again tonight.

Re: [OOC] The Trek

Very well, xXMcDumbassXx, I shall await my character's approval.

Re: [OOC] The Trek

The lost ones OOC is coming later tonight!!! God bless insomnia :P

Re: [OOC] The Trek

@MadHatter

I'm just letting them pile up and I'll approve them when we start... If I can test you all not to post yet, I'll accept your characters

Re: [OOC] The Trek

I noticed that there is quite a pile of submitted characters waiting to be approved. If you got at least some of us approved, we would be much closer to starting.

Re: [OOC] The Trek

True. So why not make it as evil as possible, and no matter what your crime, you have to go the whole way? Seems more vicious - and likely bring less back into the city, and deter even the smallest crime.

Have you got an OOC for The Lost Ones yet, I'm really interested in...hmm... "getting to know"... them?
Haha. :D

Re: [OOC] The Trek

Oh, and since whenhave giant multimillion dollar industries have every been nice or fair? This is the alternatIve to a death sentence... They're trying tokill you!
