Jon was convicted because he defended himself from men armed with knives who were attempting to mug him. John, using the skills he gained while a member of the military, quickly disarmed the first attacker and cut the man's throat with his own knife. The second tried to attack Jon, but Jon stabbed the man in the shoulder, causing the man to drop his weapon and flee. Jon quickly made his way home and thought that was the last of it.
Unfortunately for Jon, the surviving attacker went to the police and claimed Jon attacked him and his associate. Even with his clean record, The only witness was the lying mugger, and Jon was found guilty. Almost immediately after the trial, Jon was informed that he was going to be one of the contestants for the latest installment of "The Trek".

John is well-built, with a slim physique. His muscles are clearly defined, proof of Jon's daily workout, with little body fat and a slightly gaunt face. He has chestnut brown hair, left long and combed back from his face. He has a close-cropped, trimmed beard and hazel eyes. He has a scar high on his right cheek, and another crossing his left eyebrow.
CLOTHING: Jon wears a white sleeveless undershirt, a grey long-sleeved shirt, a black pea coat, faded-blue jeans, a leather belt, and worn brown hiking boots. The clothes are in relatively good shape, with only a few patches here and there.
PERSONALITY:Jon is soft-spoken, efficient, and reserved, but isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. He is very well-disciplined, thanks to his stint in the military. If you were to befriend Jon, you would have a loyal ally for life. He is madly in love with his wife and son, and they are his sole motivation to return to the city, prize money be damned. He will fight, kill, and endure anything he has to in order to return home.
OTHER DESCRIPTIVE QUALITIES: Jon has a wife (Bethany Todd Maddox), and a son (Jon Jr.). He has a simple tattoo of his wife's and son's name on his chest right over his heart. Jon has had military training, and served at the very end on the Great War. He is a decent shot with a rifle, and is proficient in hand-to-hand combat.
