ImageFull Name:
Noir (pronounced No-r)

Age:
24

Gender:
Female

Tribe:
Air

Position in the Tribe:
Leader

Negative Traits:
Stubborn, strong willed, overly competitive, never forgives, never forgets.

Positive Traits:
Kind heart, merciful, strong, great leader.

Sexual Preference:
She has no preference

ImageLikes:
There are many things that Noir likes, sun sets, flying, the exhilaration that comes with controlling wind and knowing that she has the power to end someone, yet choosing not to. Noir loves peace and serenity, she likes knowing that at the end of the day, she did her job well and that her tribe is safe. Being a leader is hard, but it is also the most rewarding thing she has ever done.

Dislikes:
With many likes comes equally, or more dislikes. She dislikes the fire tribe, she thinks that they are power hungry and greedy cowards who think of nothing but themselves. Noir dislikes it when the people become fearful, she hates fighting and will almost never throw the first punch.

Fears:
War, mainly. She also has a strange fear for what lurks in the dark.
Personality Description:
To the tribe that she leads, Noir seems lithe and merciful, as though she is the living embodiment of the element air. She is benevolent and kind, always willing to help with a task no matter how insignificant it may seem. She is fair and not prejudice, always trying her best to keep the people's best interest in mind. Should Noir do something wrong, she is always open to suggestions on how to fix it.
As a young leader, Noir does get a lot of criticism, but she also gets a lot of pity. Noir spent many years training to be a Warrior, it was her dream to fight to keep the village safe and then when the tasks were handed out and she was given this position... Well her dreams were crushed to say the least, but Noir did not complain. She took the position of leader with a smile and was ready to lead.
Behind closed doors, things are different. She likes to take a moment every night before rest to vent to no one. She keeps a journal so that should she ever lose her memory, Noir would be able to see how she once was (truly a ridiculous fear, but one can never be too prepared). Noir is tough and pushy, her will is iron clad and her desire to keep the Air Tribe and the element stone safe is even more so.
Noir's worst fear is failure.

History:
She is something of a legend inside of the village. Noir was a sprig above 6 when her parents, guardians of the Element Stone passed after a brutal attack on the village. The first few nights after their death were awful, Noir lay between their graves, staring at the sky and mumbling to them as though they could hear her. They lost their lives protecting the village and Noir swore that she would finish what they had begun. A week after their passing, Noir began to train, preparing her body and mind to protect the Air Tribe and those she loved. Determination filled her and replaced the grief and sorrow that had overwhelmed her senses a few days before.
Many took pity on the child, they believed that Noir had gone crazy, others encouraged her to continue her fight. At sixteen Noir became a Warrior of the village, prepared to lay down her life for those she had built relationships with. However, she didn't hold this position for long; the previous Village Leader passed and the new one was announced.
Noir didn't want it, it was a burden she wasn't prepared for, but many pushed her to accept the position and after a few days of isolation and deliberation, she took it. At eighteen years old, Noir was the youngest leader the Village has and has yet to screw things up. Many believe she is exceptional although secretly, it is a bit of a struggle.

ImageHair Color:
White

Eye Color:
Her eyes are a red so intense they seem to penetrate your soul.

Tattoos/Markings: Her markings look something like this

Weight:
120 Ibs

Height:
5'5

Brief Appearance Description:
Noir is tall and slender with waist length white hair and her eyes have a red color so intense they seem to penetrate your soul. Her skin is of olive so it tans rather than burns, which is convenient if you consider the climate she lives in. She likes to wears tight fighting clothes that will not fly up when using her skills, except when she's doing a ceremony, then she has to wear a special garb passed down to her from the last leader.
Noir has long and skinny finger and toes that her parents used to call "monkey feet." She can grab things with them so that she doesn't have to bend down and has great eye, foot coordination because of this (her hand to eye is pretty good as well).

Carrying:
Her weapon of choice is quite interesting, it looks almost like a pair of wolverine claws that can slice through nearly anything, but Noir does not use them all the time. Most of the time, when in the village, she will simply use her moon sword. Noir also carries herbs with her, just in case, and occasionally a ribbon or two to tie her hair back.

Notable Skills/Abilities:
Noir's fighting skills are superb, she taught herself from a very young age how to fight and was always getting tips from the local warriors. She also has the hands of a healer, her mother used to always tell her that she could heal anything. Her last notable skill is a bit surprising, basket weaving. Not very useful in her eyes, but fun to do in her free time.

Other:
There are many scars on her body from years of hard work.

So begins...

In the middle of the city, just by the tribe’s biggest house - the leader’s house, all the leaders live there while still ruling - sat Fi outside the vault. Or vault, it was a house where the tribe’s treasures were kept, things like gold, jewels, secret tunnels leading underground to the most secret things. The stones. Fi knew she guarded those stones but no one has ever told her why, they called them "The element stones" but there was only three of them. A blue, a brown and a deep red one.

Booring...

Fi looked up at the sky and yawned, it was nice weather today and here she was sitting all by herself with only a door and the scythe as company. She looked around at the people going around the square, looking at what the merchants had today, talking and having more fun than her. It was not like she was forbidden to talk with people while guarding. But she choose not to, she once nearly told a stranger about what she really was guarding. And since then she has only waved hi when people greeted her.

It was a peaceful day, some days where exhausting because people was bugging her about her job. Or just talking about how she should do more with her life than run around all day. Some days were a total chaos because someone had seen other tribes close by. When that happened she or someone else had to be inside that dark basement with the stones. She hated those days.

While she was playing around with the dust on the ground, making it fly around in circles one of the other guards came and smiled faintly. "Your shift is over, it's my time now."
Fi flew up from the chair, "Finally! Have fun." She smiled while grabbing her scythe and ran away as fast as she could.

Finally outside the village she exhaled, Free. She stretched her stiff body that was starting to hurt a little from sitting down for such a long time. No more chairs for today. She looked around at the forest surrounding her home smiling to herself, it was pretty. She ran a little further away from the village and then started climbing the highest tree she could see. It was a bit difficult because her body was still not that awake and she moved slowly. But she reached the top - or the highest place she could sit down at without breaking the branch, she looked out at the forest. The wind was swirling around her and tried to make her fall by pulling on her clothes. She looked down at the main road you traveled on to get to the village, Oh a person, oh... That's too bad, no white hair.

She closed her eyes and focused on dissolving herself, when she was completely gone or invisible she flew down from the branch and traveled along the road. When there was some space from her and the stranger she reappered with the scythe in hand smiling. "Well hello there stranger, may I ask why you are traveling on our land?"

In order for fear to bloom it must first devour the mind of the host it inhabits

A shock of white hair and red eyes greeted her in the mirror, tanned and muscular hands scratching at a scar right above her eyebrow, a habit from her younger years. A deathlike vise on her hairbrush, wooden splinters biting into her left hand made the female face reality. The nightmares had not ceased to terrify the Village Leader, every night it was nearly the same dream in different variations. A hand reaching out into the darkness, the guardians of the Element Stone shooting blindly; searching for the creature that would wrap the stone in its grimy palms and crush it to smithereens, then disappear into the dark cellar once more. That wasn't the only terror, some night, Noir was forced to relive her parents demise, meeting the same end they had and others she had failed to protect her village and would return from a hunt only to find blood running through the streets, homes raided and bodies littering the area.

Her throat burned, it felt like she had swallowed fire. That realization was what brought Noir back to reality, there were still enemies out there, in the real world. The ones in her night terrors could wait. Standing upright, Noir straightened her robes and attached the white lily flower clip to her hair, she sheathed her trusty moon sword into the scabbard that rest on her belt and slipped her feet into a pair of worn leather hunting boots. Noir was never truly ready to face the perils of a village leader, but she knew that if she didn't do it, then no one else would.

Closing the door behind her, Noir scanned the outlay of the area with trained, cautious eyes. Everything seemed normal and so Noir went about her day off, wondering what she would do first. Normally, Noir would seek out the Priestess and ask about what sort of ceremonies would be up and coming, but because it was Noir's day of rest, she had planned to spend it avoiding those she would normally see and instead attempt to interact with the other villagers of Airedale.

Slightly surprised when the stranger fell off his horse Fi started laughing, she couldn't help it. It looked so funny. The shocked expression, the yelp, the floundering legs and arms while falling. She laughed so hard she had to lean against the scythe to not fall herself.

"Why would you sneak up on somebody like that?! Well I came to open a shop somewhere in the city. My village isn't able to support my families business anymore."

After collecting herself she brushed away the tears in her eyes and straightened up. While tilting her head to the side she silently started to inspect him. Murtovaara? No, he didn't have that harsh look they had. Maybe Lakeshore he did have blue eyes, but it didn't feel right. She couldn't tell where he came from and it gave her a unsettled feeling in her gut. Maybe he had traveled really far and where from places they didn't even knew they existed, maybe another country?

"I wouldn't call it sneaking up, I simply flew down to you. I guess you're not from around here since you don't know? Say, where are you from stranger?"

A shop... I don't know about that, what should I do? I don't know! Should I tell him to go away or ask Noir? Oh no! It's her day off. Should I ask anyway? Nah, she probably wouldn't like that. Who do I ask then? Maybe I should just let him inside. She looked around, trying to see if there were people hiding by the trees. She couldn't see anyone, the only thing she could see was the eagle circling in the air above them. It gave her the creeps, it didn't feel right. Maybe it was just a pet, but the eagles stare made her turn her gaze away in terror.

"Well, I'm not the one you should be talking to about a shop and such. But I can't see no harm in letting you inside, you seem tired so you may rest here for tonight and tomorrow our leader will decide what to do about your request." She smiled slightly and put down the scythe still grasping it tight while looking around for movement in the darkness. Please let this be a wise choice, if this turns out to be an ambush I don't know what will happen to me. She sighed and stepped to the side giving him enough room to pass her with his horse, she wanted to keep him in sight and if that would be possible he had to walk in front of her.

Noir had hardly left the dirt road when an odd tingling began in the base of her spine, she turned, spotting an abnormality at the entrance to the village. One of their best and brightest was allowing a stranger to pass through. Curious and on guard, Noir changed course to approach the two. "Fi!" Noir called, her smile easy although her posture guarded. She crossed the space in a few long strides and looked up at the man on the horse before turning towards the girl, "I thought you would be on break by now," she moved to regard the stranger, sizing him up in case of a possible threat.

"To which of the villages do you hail from?" Noir asked; it was a simple question although the answer could carry much weight. There was no white hair on the male's head which made it quite obvious that he was not from around Airedale and the way he regarded the animal, the eagle, made it obvious that he was a bit...Err foreign.

Noir suddenly realized she might have just come across as rude, not even offering her name. "Please pardon my manners, I am Noir." She brushed her white hair over her shoulder, annoyed at her long locks. Noir didn't mean to hijack the conversation Fi and the stranger were having, but she wanted to be especially careful because of the the threat the Leader had received from the Fire Tribe nearly three days before and now a stranger suddenly appearing at their gates... It was odd, however coincidences did happen.

"Where I come from appearing next to someone is called sneaking up on them. Although your right I'm definitely not from around here."

Fi shrugged slightly, "Maybe I'm just a little too used to it then." He didn't say where he came from, that's bad.

"Don't be scared, he's a friend of mine and looks a lot scarier then he acts." The eagle flew down when he called for it, maybe it wasn’t so bad after all... But that stare was still way to scary, she kept as far away as she could leaning backwards. "Bubby don't be rude. Sorry about him, he misses his family. We've been traveling for a lot longer then he's used to."

"Oh," Fi relaxed a bit and swept away the bangs from her eyes, "Is that so." Still no answer to my question... is he avoiding it?

While he passed her with his horse she closely inspected what it carried, she did see him taking his hand inside the bag before. There's probably something really valuable inside, or a weapon, maybe something he doesn’t want to be found? She could not open the bag and take a look because he would notice and the outside didn't show any clues of it contest. It made her uneasy while standing still trying to decide what to do next.

"You asked earlier where I was from. You probably don't know the place, but its a small village called Northpass. We're known for Winter goods and hunting exports, so we aren't really that important."

Never heard of it, do we really trade with them? But I don't really have anything to do with things like that, so it's not that weird really... Maybe someone else know, probably they do.

"Are you just going to stand there and make sure we aren't attacking you or are you going to show me where to go? I'm Connor by the way, and that's Tim and Garus. What's your name?"

Just when she was going to open her mouth to answer she heard her name being called and looked that way. With growing anxiety she shrunk a little where she stood when Noir came towards them, Oh no, I did make the wrong choice... She doesn’t look that happy...

"I thought you would be on break by now."

Fi nodded slightly, "I was on my break when I noticed this man approaching the village. So I thought the wisest choice was to act at once since I was close by." She swallowed nervously and looked down on the ground where she hummed lightly on the foot against dusty road. "I can't see any threat in letting him inside to rest, he looked exhausted... And I would let you meet him tomorrow since it is your day off today."

Connor was relieved, it seemed like the girl was finally going to let him go on his way when some other woman stopped the two for more questioning. This is even worse then my time hunting near Murtovaara, the random stopping and needless questioning is worse anywhere trying to remain neutral. Connor sighed and realized that he probably wasn't going to get into the city easily. It was at this time Connor took the time to watch as the smaller sized him up and the taller explained herself to the smaller. Connor then zoned out for a few moments trying to remember what his secondary plans were after making it into Airedale, Step one: Get into the village -Check-, Step two: Establish a reason to stay, Step three: Keep a low profile and await more instructions.

Connor was getting asked questions he'd already answered by some second lady that happened to walk by? Which begged the question, why were they so weary of strangers? Have I even done anything to deserve the suspicion? I really hope they don't treat all visitors like potential combatants. Connor thought with a smile on his face and a weak chuckle escaping his lips. "Listen I can just sleep outside the gates if that's necessary, it wouldn't be the first time I slept on the ground with a bed in walking distance." Connor stopped the slow moving group outside what looked to be the guard post just outside of the main gates.

"Really it wouldn't bother me at all to make a little camp outside, I just don't want to put anybody out." Connor laughed turning the horse around and looking at the two women before answering, "Pleased to meet you Noir. My name is Connor by the way and I'm assuming your Fi?" He laughed in a polite fashion and awaited more directions for what to do next from the smaller seeing as she was most likely calling the shots between the pair.

Although Connor was keeping his cool Tim and Garus were becoming unnerved by the sudden stress level in Connor's attitude. Tim was ready to fight and Garus wanted to run out of the gates, but to keep them calm Connor put a gentle hand on the horses side and over the birds wings. This told them that he wanted them to calm down without having to give them any verbal orders. They're getting really antsy, and I can't expect them to stay calm if anything were to happen. Connor thought as Tim and Garus calmed down for the time being.

"Good call," Noir praised and took her hand off of her sword "No need, I can take him from here. Fi, if you have some time later I was looking to take someone with me into the forest." The female had been looking forward to practicing her wind technique and she knew you should never venture into the woods alone.

"The pleasure is mine," she turned to Connor, her posture relaxing a bit. "If you would follow me, I can show you where to go." Noir was always willing to help, even on her day off. The antsy bird stole her attention and her polite smile grew just the tiniest bit. Noir had a certain affection for birds, maybe it was because they could utilize the air as well, but watching them fly always struck her as beautiful.

"We would love to host you in our humble village," he hadn't answered her question as to where he hailed from, but he didn't appear to be from the Fire Tribe. No, those people were much more hostile and even if he was, it did not mean he meant any harm to their Tribe. She wasn't going to be rude and ask what he was doing here just yet, that could wait until he got settled. Not everyone had an agenda, he could just be a traveler from another village looking to peddle his wares or sell his stories.

Noir, the smaller, seemed to be okay with allowing Connor to stay which honestly was a surprise. He was expecting the process of actually getting to stay to be far more laborious. "Thank you for showing me around Noir." Connor said sincerely as she started walking away and turned around to Fi giving her a warm smile and a wave goodbye. Realizing that Noir had started to leave him behind Connor briskly walked Garus back to her. Connor watched as a slight smile grew across Noir's face when she looked at Tim who tilted his head and looked back at his friend. Connor laughed a bit and nodded at the bird who again started to dig around in the saddle bag for food. "There's no more, we'll go out looking for more snacks tomorrow." Connor put his hand on the birds head who quickly pecked at his hand.

The eagle and horse were calming down now that the group was moving again. Something was still off about the situation to them, Tim was hungry, so Tim looked to Connor for the order. "Be back before dusk, and don't hurt anybody understand?" Connor looked at the bird who took off into the air and started looking for anything to snack on or the nearest berry bush.

After a bit of walking Connor spoke again to the woman that was leading him around. "You asked me earlier where I was from, I didn't mean to duck out of the question. I actually come from a small mountain town called Northpass. We don't do much so no body really cares about us, but thanks to a rapidly expanding hunting market we are able to take our goods to the major villages of Imos. I tell you all this because I know that during these times of suspicion, everyone needs a reason to do anything." Connor laughed a little bit talking about economics knowing that was the last thing that Connor expected to be doing when he got older.

Here I am playing secret dignitary to the Air village, I thought I told the elders that I just wanted to stay in my cabin and hunt all day. It's what I'm good at, not whatever this is. Connor gave a light chuckle and looked back to the sky for Tim who was out of site by the time. Garus was luckily the dumb silent type who who did as asked and had a very short memory for Connor's mistakes.

"No need to thank me, as Leader it is my duty to greet guests." As well as to discover their intentions. She thought, nodding her head as he spoke. Northpass? She hoped her bemusement did not show on her face, Noir had never heard of such a village. How far was it from here? Was it in another country? No, he mentioned Imos so he was from somewhere within the territory. "Yes, these are pressing times. I fear that soon the Air Tribe's neutral position will be challenged." Unfortunately the Air Tribe's enemies were also very unpredictable and they could find themselves under ambush or siege at any moment.

"What are the main exports of your village?" Her curiosity had been piqued, she had never heard of such a place and wanted to know more about it. What kind of element did they wield? What was their stance on the war? "I don't mean to pry, but what business do you have within the Air Tribe?" They passed the Head Houses, where Village Leaders reside. They were making their way into the epicenter of the village now and were close to where he would stay for the night.

Had she ever met their Village Leader? Most likely not, Noir would have remembered meeting someone from such a strange location.

"Pleased to meet you Noir. My name is Connor by the way and I'm assuming your Fi?"

Fi smiled slightly at him, "Yes that is correct."

Turning her gaze towards Noir, surprised by the praise, she was almost certain she would get scolded by not consulting anyone before letting him inside. A small blush spread on her cheeks being ridiculously happy inside by such a small thing. But still it was praise from the leader and she was always pleased by that.

"No need, I can take him from here. Fi, if you have some time later I was looking to take someone with me into the forest."

Fi nodded and sighed on the inside, Noir didn't have that much free time so she should use it to do things she liked, not being a leader like always. "If you say so, I'll withdraw from here and leave the rest to you. I will be just outside the village if you need me." Fi humble stepped back with her head still lowered like the head guard had told her was appropriate.

When they had started walking away from her she raised her head and followed them while they disappeared in the crowd. Connor as the stranger addressed himself looked back just before the lively streets swallowed them and waved, Fi smiled at that gesture. It was nice.

While looking around she sighed again, this day didn't turn out the way she wanted it too. If she had gotten it the way she wanted to, she had been far away from here by now. That possibility was gone now however, maybe she should just practice some more. She carefully put the scythe in place at the back and started walking out on the main road again looking up at the sky. It was that perfect weather for flying today, it's too bad that's not a choice anymore.

A little annoyed she kicked the ground so a cloud of dust flew up, tilting her head to the side she pointed one finger towards the cloud and started forming it into different shapes. Having it fly around in the air for a long time while playing with it, checking what she could do and what she couldn't, but in the end she sighed again and let it fall to the ground. I'm not amused. Kicking at the ground again but leaving the dust alone she started walking, Maybe I just take a stroll instead. If they need me they'll find me.

Placing her hands behind her back still with the wistful gaze at the sky, she continued to walk on the road.

"No need to thank me, as Leader it is my duty to greet guests." Noir told him but had a confused and amusing expression on her face. Leader? If I was here to attack this would be the best and easiest time for a sneak attack. He thought with a little laugh and turned his attention back to the confused look. "I know that face all too well. Not a lot of people visit Northpass so we're like this mythical village that no one knows exists." Connor laughed and listened to her talk about the Air Tribe's neutrality. That's a safe fear to have. This neutral thing they have going on isn't going to last much longer. He thought and continued to listen to her speak.

"What are the main exports of your village? I don't mean to pry, but what business do you have within the Air Tribe?" The leader asked multiple questions about his village and reasoning for being there so Connor had to have a legitimate answer. "Like I was telling Fi, we export mainly winter goods and most recently, within the last fifteen years, our hunting market has exploded. So now we have excess meat we don't know what to do with. We have no business to conduct with the Air Tribe, but we do wish to do business with the Air Tribe's main village Airedale." Connor smiled and quickly added, "In Northpass we don't define ourselves with one of the four main tribes."

They passed a string of homes which looked grand and timeless in the bustling town. Bingo, now just to keep watch. He gazed at the homes and looked up when he heard the cry of an eagle with dinner. Tim landed on the back end of the large horse and repositioned the rabbit he caught in his beak. "Good job Bubby." Connor exclaimed and put the rabbit in a second saddle bag under the primary one. The bird the quickly jumped up on the mans shoulder and continued to watch the woman leading them around the city.

"While I have you here, I wish to ask your permission to do something." Connor dismounted the horse and walked next to the woman as the eagle perched itself on the saddle holding the reins in position. "I told you earlier that the market for meat in Northpass has grown exponentially and we would like to start exporting and selling our unused meat in Airedale, with your blessing of course." He asked the leader who had just finished looking around the town center.

Noir wasn't one to believe in fairytales, to her it was just some place she had yet to visit. "Like I was telling Fi, we export mainly winter goods and most recently, within the last fifteen years, our hunting market has exploded. So now we have excess meat we don't know what to do with. We have no business to conduct with the Air Tribe, but we do wish to do business with the Air Tribe's main village Airedale." Noir paused, they had a lot of outsiders that came to peddle their wares, but something about this boy was… Off to say the least.

"In Northpass we don't define ourselves with one of the four main tribes." It would only make sense since they were such a small village, at least that was the impression she was getting. Noir stayed silent while he spoke, her mind reeling until his eagle returned. "While I have you here, I wish to ask your permission to do something." Again she looked up at the stranger, Noir wasn't short in the least but he sat high upon his horse. "What sort of something?" She inquired.

"I told you earlier that the market for meat in Northpass has grown exponentially and we would like to start exporting and selling our unused meat in Airedale, with your blessing of course." Noir thought about it for a moment, she tried out the idea in her head of this man from the small "mythical" village selling meat on Airedale's market street. "I'm sorry, you may try to sell your meat here, but Airedale's market already has quite a few sellers." It was the truth, there was a group of hunters that went out in the morning and came back by high noon with fresh meat, hides, and other things from the forrest.
