Personality description:
Alistair is a simple young man with a love for all things living. He prefers looking at the glass half-full and doesn't have a mean word for anybody, not even Slytherins. He's as nice and good-natured as anybody you'll ever meet. He takes things rather well, and doesn't let much get under his skin. That being said, he bottles up a lot of emotions, especially any anger and he'll unleash his fury after he's had enough. This doesn't happen very often, however. He finds little to no problems fitting into any social group and is well-liked by many, if not all, of his peers. His more laid-back nature makes him seem inviting and easily-approachable. He is considered a great listener and is more than happy to give advice to those seeking it. He prefers to follow others rather than lead, but he knows his limitations and won't do what everyone else is doing if he feels that it doesn't meet his moral code.
He's a loyal and true friend who'll be there for you in the good and bad times. He's quick to defend someone he cares for, but more in a passive way. He doesn't condone violence and has become very good at breaking up fights. He's the best person to go to if you have a problem because he will always try to help you solve it. That being said, he's a great negotiator and can diffuse any high-tension event quite easily.
Alistair likes to think of himself as rather funny and uses humor as shield to hide his own emotions. He doesn't like talking about himself or his feelings and has gotten good at avoiding such conversations. It's not that he does it on purpose, it's just that he's done it for so long that it's become second nature to him. If you happen to get a peep into his inner feelings you'll find a sensitive soul who is truly selfless, but ultimately alone and little bit sad.

History:
Alistair Jase Webb was the first and only child of Alexandria and William Webb. Growing up, he was a little spoiled, but his parents instilled in him good manners and selfless behavior. Like all muggleborn children, his magical ability came as quite a surprise. When Alistair was eight, he had a violent cold. Every time he coughed, his pet cat's tail would disappear. While he found it hilarious, his parents were quite concerned. They took the cat to vet after vet, but they found nothing amiss with Mr. Peebles. His parents never made the correlation between Alistair's coughing fits and the disappearing tail.
When his Hogwarts letter arrived on his eleventh birthday, his parents were quite startled. They did not know what to think of this strange little piece of paper and after a day or so, assumed it was an elaborate prank and threw it away. Imagine their surprise when another letter just like the one before it appeared on their doorstep accompanied by a little owl. Deciding that it would explain the stranger things that had been happening around Alistair, they gave it a shot and let him join this magical school.
While Alistair was never the brightest in his lessons, he didn't have very much trouble passing. He skimmed by just barely with his O.W.L.'s and dreads the N.E.W.T.'s that should be coming up.
