Akiko is a very strong willed independent woman that often times grates on men's nerves with her insistence of not relying on them. But this doesn't bother as much as it did when she was a younger woman, she is very reserved and takes her career very seriously. Akiko her sense of style has always been professional wearing dress suits that fit well with her profession as a district manager of the Bunya Law Offices, Yokohama Branch. At home however she is more relaxed and has an affinity for gardening. She is all around a happy person but at times she seems sad about something that even her daughter has no idea what is going through her head at the moment. Unfortunately something happened in her past that saddens her, but it's something she has never discussed with her daughter Natsuko.
~ Trained as a Priestess- Unfortunately she didn't finish her training and complete the rights of a priestess.
~ The ability to see and sense spirits and demons- However unlike her daughter she has for the most part lost this ability. Due to shirking her training and lack of use. Her daughter is unaware of this fact.
~ Martial arts training- This is also something her daughter does not know. Akiko was trained by her grandmother in martial arts.
~ The use of Sacred Scrolls and talismans- Is able to construct scrolls and talismans for cleansing of spirits of spirits and demons.
~ Archery- Akiko has been trained in archery combined with her ability to see spirits and demons, using this ability to cleanse with sacred scrolls and talismans.
~ Creating protective barriers- The ability to create a barrier of sacred energy to protect against evil spirits and demons.
(All of these are amazing abilities but she has lost the ability to do most of them due to her slaking in training.)
~ The loss of her Priestess abilities.
~ Her stubbornness
History:
Akiko was born and raised in Okinawa Japan, much like Koki she lived with her Father, Mother and Grandmother at the family shrine. When she was very young it was determined that she had the ability to see and sense spirits, her grandmother being a priestess began to train her young granddaughter.
Akiko not only excelled in her training at home she was also very intelligent and was in the top of her class all through out her school years. This is where she met her future husband in junior high school and fell madly in love. At first they tried to keep their love secret because Akiko knew how her grandmother would react to her relationship interfering with her training as a priestess. But as her love for him grew she made a choice that no matter what she would not let this stop her form being with him.
When she was in her last year of high school it became very apparent to her grandmother, that Akiko was involved with a boy from school. The old Priestess was enraged that her granddaughter would throw so much potential away, and a choice was given to Akiko. She was to either give up her abilities and not fulfill her destiny to take over for her grandmother, or to leave the man she loved an continue along the path she was. It was a hard choice for her, but ultimately she chose to follow her heart. After she graduated from high school she left with her new husband to go to college in Tokyo, this was ll bitter sweet for her. She loved her grandmother unconditionally and hated disappointing her but her love for her new husband was stronger.
Akiko went to college to become a lawyer, and things seemed to be going well a year after she moved from her home in Okinawa. She found herself pregnant with her her daughter Natsuko, sadly very shortly after her first child's birth she received the sad news that her grandmother had passed away. Akiko felt guilty having not been there and that her last meeting with her grandmother had been on such a sad and angry note. She decided that when things calmed down she would go and visit her family.
Sadly things didn't calm down or get much better it always seemed that every time she thought the could get a chance to go something would come up. Finally after five years she was determined to go, she and her husband both took time off work and went to her families home in Okinawa. But something terrible happened not long after the got to their destination, there was an attack by demons on the family shrine and her husband was killed trying to protect the family from it. Natsuko was too young to remember, but her mother out of fear of truth of what happened told her that. Her father left them, she hated lying to her daughter, but she didn't want her daughter to be scared when she discovered her father was killed by a monster.
After returning to Tokyo Akiko coped by burying herself in her blossoming law career. It was also around this time that Natsuko's own abilities to see spirits began to surface. This frightened her mother even more, and she begged her daughter to not speak to anyone about it. But over the years she has noticed her daughter's power increasing and she's has begun to fear what might happen if Natsuko doesn't get any training. So when the opportunity came for her to move to Yokohama she made sure that the home she purchased was close to a shrine. Hoping she could maybe gain favor with the priest or priestess there so that her daughter can learn to control her abilities as she did. And maybe her daughter might be able to take up the mantel she set aside for love.
Even though her abilities have diminished she cans still use them in intense emotional situations.
