Shadow Lord Umbrazk

"Your greed was your own parasite, your deception shall be your undoing. There is nothing that you can say to salvage your lies."

0 · 277 views · located in The Teardrop Forest

a character in “The Twelve Guardians”, as played by R.T.M.X.

Xaris Umbrazk

Role: Villain 2

Gender: At one time, Male. That doesn't count for much anymore.
Title(s)/Alias(es): Shadow Lord Umbrazk
Age: 286
Race: Human, at one time.
Love Interest: None
Password: Ghost chile salsa with broiled, bacon-wrapped steaks. :)

Appearance: Most of time Umbrazk is seen with his full set of heavy armor, made from materials that could only be found within the deadland tundras of the North. However, during the rare times of him not wearing the armor, towering over many others, his skin is pale and ashen, as if he has been dead for all these years. His hair is short, whitened by from the years. An enormous arm hangs on his right, swollen and pulsating with grotesque blood veins, wrapping his forearm in a sort of reddish skin. His hand – rather, talon – could easily grip the throat of any creature and is chiefly used for combat, lacking the dexterity of fingers, forgoing adroitness for triple clawed fingers and an edged thumb and all that. His claws are just as colossal as the rest of his palm, akin to the teeth of a dragon rather than its paw. His left arm, while significantly less in bulk, still ripples with muscle and is in the resemblance of the talon of a bird of prey. Its main function is that of spellcasting, as it’s legerdemain far outclasses it’s parallel – this hand has four fingers and a thumb, and is small enough to form complex symbols.

Preferred Clothing: Rarely seen without his daemonskin armor. The armor itself is created from the daemons that reside within the deadly northern climate. The weight doesn't come from the materials themselves, but rather by how it's smithed. It takes over 50 years to create such a magnificent suit, even if the Draszk Generals are the only beings to use it.

Height: 8’2”
Weight: 350 pounds without, 550 pounds with gear.
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Yellow

Personality: While, it’s easy to assume his personality to be sadistic, this is simply a façade to keep his enemies guessing. Face-to-face, he is as evil as he is intimidating, and he won’t rest until he’s hammered this belief into your mind. Otherwise, he sports a ‘sort of grim demeanor towards life and few have ever witnessed his logical, if pessimistic, observations. Mentally, he is very stable, a stark contrast to the rest of his body, lacking any sort of inane disorder or syndrome. Umbrazk is blessed with a clear head and remarkable intelligence and although he doesn’t speak much, when he does, people tend to listen… Then cringe in dreadful anguish, begging for either swift death or merciful clemency.

Oddities: There are parts within him that are still knightly, remnants of his former life as a human. These values that he had kept were that he will never attack any foes that are defenseless. Nor will he attack children or women. This is also a major weakness of his...

Reason(s) why you want to kill/take over the kingdom: Umbrazk wishes to enact revenge upon the kingdom for his banishment. That is his main reason. The second, a more personal goal, is to take over the throne and convert the land into a new homeland for his new allies known as the Draszk.

Skills/Talents: He is unusually strong-willed, keeping him continuing onward towards his goals.

Preferred Weapon(s): Umbrazk prefers his own body and natural weapons over those made from steel and bone. 'Nuff said.

Power: Negative Energy (Aspect of Shadow)

Abilities: Umbrazk is able to control negative energy, the harmful life force that is usually surrounding undead and the like.

Resurrect Fallen (ability):
He is full of malevolent energies, and can raise his allies fallen in battle for one more fight. Although they would survive for a few more minutes, it allows the tides of battle to be turned to the Draszk's favor.

Unholy Bolt (ability):
An unholy bolt is a blast of magick that can heal undead and Draszk forces, but can damage the living. It only heals minor damage, but can cause nausea and sickness to any living humans and the like.

Reanimate (ability):
By forcing massive amounts of negative energy into a corpse, umbrazk forges a new "unliving soul" into the body, returning whatever the creature was back from the death as a Drazk. It only affects the dead, and the larger the body, the longer it takes for Umbrazk to "convert" said body.

Soulburn (Ultimate):
Umbrazk has become somewhat immortal, bypassing death, by stealing the life force of his victims. This "soulburning" is Umbrazk's way of absorbing life energy. The drawback is that his intended victim is required to be living in the first place...

Limitations: While he may be powerful, he is slow, and it's this weakness that most people take advantage. Umbrazk still has morals that he adheres to, such as not attacking an unarmed opponent. Another limitation of his power is that his power is temporarily drained whenever he's surrounded by positive energy.

Personal History: Hidden from the eyes of the public, his entire life was disclosed as a myth, a story to tell to little ones when they misbehaved. Hidden from the King and his family, and they will never know that it was his great-grandfather that cursed his family bloodline, even to this day...

Once, a time long ago, Umbrazk was once human. he was once loyal to the throne, serving the King at the time as a paladin, a holy protector. It was Umbrazk that had led the Kings defences against the other countries, and for what? Xaris was backstabbed when the King gained power, banished from his beloved land until death. Declared dead to the kingdom and stripped of his honor, Xaris had travelled to the deadlands of the far North, past the many miles of jungle and rivers that had separated the two lands...

He became a shadow of his former self. he was once full of hope and happiness, but that spark has disappeared. He became corrupted, plotting his revenge, but he was still dying within...

As he was nearing his 80th year, salvation came in the form of death. But that didn't keep his restless spirit down. His soul, now thirsting for absolute revenge, began to draw from the massive amounts of dark energy from the dead earth. His corpse, frozen but rotted, began swelling, absorbing the energy around it. It would seem as if he had cheated death, but in reality, he was already dead by the time he had entered the deadlands...

Warped and wholly corrupted by the negative energy that had been absorbed, he had encountered a race of abominations and undead, each former denizens from Winterfall. They were all abandoned, banished by the very king he had once served. Sensing that he, too was dead to the kingdom, they welcomed him into their lives. They were all either dead or mutated to the point that they were no longer loved, but they were also scattered throughout the land, living in small tribes, nobody to guide and to unite them. It was his time to lead...

For the past 2 centuries, he had wandered the deadlands, searching for all who were abandoned, taking them all in as family, because they were like him. They were united as a whole, with Umbrazk watching over them as their own lord and protector. They had been renamed, given a new meaning. They were called the Draszk, their torment and pain their weapon...

But the kingdom had already knew of what was happening. The earth have felt the negative impact of his actions, nature beginning to defend itself, waiting for the Northern forces to come through...

They wanted a new homeland for themselves. No, they needed a new homeland. The deadlands kept them apart, full of nothing but horrible thoughts and memories...

Other:He holds two charms that are designed to aid Umbrazk during his battles. These charms were created from the Draszk shamans for him to fulfill his promise of bringing them new lands.

Blink (Active/Charm):
Due to his intimidating size, enemies usually favor range over melee. This is annoying to Umbrazk, as you might guess, and he sought guidance from his gods. In return, he received Blink, a powerful symbol that, when used, instantaneously transports Umbrazk across a maximum distance of twenty feet. After each use, the glyph “overheats,” and must “cool downs” after six minutes of retirement.

Hiatus (Passive/Charm):
This is another simple charm with great use. When one attempts to attack Umbrazk, they hesitate, no strings attached. While, this may appear as relatively useless, it can give the Abomination quite the advantage, as he can move surprisingly fast despite his size. Not everyone is affected by this charm, but those who are can quickly find a dagger-like claw in their midsection. This is uncomfortable to many.

So begins...

Shadow Lord Umbrazk ~ Approaching Teardrop Forest

Wind licked at the Abomination’s unfeeling, immortal face as his weighty tread crunched the snow beneath him. He followed the trail left by the draszk in his command with grim amusement, but arrived to his guided destination. The Shadow Lord looked over the peak of the mountain, spying down past the grassy plains to the ancient teardrop forest. Hatred and rage burned through his soul as he looked down at it.

“How dare they defy my will, and keep us from what we seek!” he cursed into the wind, as if with that simple statement his enemies efforts would cease. The statement prompted a strange emotion within him, a whispering presence in his mind that quickened the dark energy flowing in his veins. Umbrazk's eagerness hastened him to return to camp to prepare for the coming war at hand.

His hastened pace allowed him to arrive soon at his army’s camp. He looked at the forces he commanded, draszk littered all over the place moving about ready for battle and blood and select groups of the blighted Drow. An urge from deep within him pushed him towards a group of Drow archers, who were gathered in a circle. As he came near the dark skinned and haired elves, they eyed him suspiciously. The Abomination was not a Drow, nor was he truly any race of being but in his past life he had been a human, but amongst them he was an untrusted Abomination whose orders were to be followed. The blighted elves were standing in circle gathered around another of their kind. Umbrazk pushed past them and looked at the elf lying there. Her blood was slowly dripping out a partially opened wound and puss was gathering all about the infection. The wound was terribly gruesome and no Drow could survive it, and this one was no exception; Umbrazk was sure she wouldn’t see it through the night. The darkness willed him to stare into the elf’s eyes. Already they were becoming transparent, looking as if they had already fallen into the abyss, and yet they held no fear nor did her expression show any anxiety about her death. Now the Abomination spoke, his words reeking with the aura of death.

“Do you wish to live?” he asked her in her own elven tongue, though he truly had no interest; it was his promise that willed this, and he could not defy it if he so chose it. Her eyes lit up slightly as if his words were bringing her back from the abyss.

“Death now looks upon you through my eyes. You are chosen, and power beyond belief can be yours” he knew she could not fully understand his words, too close to the abyss to let this world’s plight concern her. Yet a fire in her eyes continued to pull her away from the abyss and was bringing her back into this world if only but for a moment.

“…I would…live” she managed to respond past the chokes on her own blood.

“So be it. Here is your blessing.” Umbrazk smiled and it was a ghastly parody. The Abomination removed his breastplate, unknotted the cords binding his severed chest, and ripped free a large shard of everlasting essence that was stabbed into his heart. He could feel himself weaken at the loss of his gift, and he hungered to keep it for himself; but he pressed on. His enormous right claw for a hand grasped her firmly and easily lifted her off the ground, and in his left he held the athanac, his life force. Her blood poured from the open wound and was already staining the snow and forming a small pool that was quickly freezing. He thrust the shard through her chest and straight into her heart. Her eyes shot open with a sudden awareness and the glaze that covered them evaporated as the fire burst through. Blood was profusely pouring out the new wound, but none of that would matter she wouldn’t need it soon. She no longer choked on her words and her voice was clear in the scream of sheer agony. The Shadow Lord smiled with sinister pleasure as he recalled the unbearable agony it had caused him; he recalled his flesh and soul’s rejection of the athanac and the unending blight's overbearing presence in his mind. It was a truly terrible fate.

“You are reborn. You now serve me once again.”

Shadow Lord Umbrazk ~ Approaching Teardrop Forst

The abomination supervised the industry of his army from a jutting precipice of the mountain overlooking what he claimed as his camp of convenience. The snow had ceased its relentless downfall to a gentle sprinkle of light flakes; the wind remained a cold biting force against all. The sun was high, and elves moved all about the camp, continuing to make preparations for the battles ahead. They looked bees at work in the hive, moving with purposeful deliberation. Even many of the Draszk worked to help with the preparations, demonspawn moving the largest of the caravans and supplies. Most lingered about the outskirts of the camp impatiently awaiting the command to kill. Umbrazk could feel their bloodlust as he tapped into the mind of one. His time was beginning to run out. His allies were becoming impatient, and Umbrazk himself was growing irritated. The brief connection of mind he had with Teldrun, the elf he had left in charge of another small ambush party to keep the Treants or Trolls at bay, had dawned much needed information onto the abomination. With the Trolls and Treants working together, they posed a dire and real threat to the path of Glory for the Shadow Lord. The abomination eyed his forces below and tried to estimate the possible Troll forces in the forest. The more he thought about it, the more he doubted his army.

The time is now… the abomination thought to himself. The Abyss completely dominated Umbrazk’s mind briefly, flooding it with images and information in a flash, and it felt as if a knife had been slammed through the abomination‘s skull. The darkness around him broke the mental connection in the next instant, twisting the knife as it was yanked free. Umbrazk fell to his knees, panting and trying to recover. The abomination had his will delivered and it would be carried out. He smiled sinisterly pulled himself out the snow and rose to his feet; he raced down to the camp in a frenzy, shouting out commands here and there and pushing his mind out to give commands else where. There was much to be done, and so little time to do it in. The abomination extended his mind outward, searching for the other two blessed, chosen ones. He found their unique minds with ease and intruded into their well guarded minds; Lilyth freely allowed him to enter her mind, but Zels put up so much resistance Umbrazk was only just able to break into his mind. In the end he was the dominating force in their minds and his words echoed down to their very core.

“Meet me at the head of the camp. We have much to discuss and little time to do so.” The Shadow Lord told them and then severed the connection, delivering a similar fate to them like the one he had just received. Umbrazk peered down the mountain at the forest below, cursing the filth below. He could hear snow crunching behind him and then it stopped. He turned to find the two chosen ones standing beside one another seeming to be waiting for their orders.

“Our time has come. Treants and Trolls within the forest block our path, but I will not allow such petty barrier keep us from our lands. I will not fail in my promise. Not now, not ever.” Umbrazk began to tell the two. Lilyth seemed to absorb every syllable spoke by Umbrazk and Zels seemed to ignore it all. Umbrazk seized up the `arrogant` Orc, attempting to choke him but failing.

“If I had not sensed the strength within you, I would kill you now. I will not do anything that can work against my promise, but should there ever come a time when you choose to disobey your Lord I will kill you without hesitation." Umbrazk released Zels, and Zels said nothing in response, but the Shadow Lord could feel rage within him. Umbrazk carried out his orders and made sure the two were precisely aware of their crucial role in the upcoming battle.

“If either of you should fail, it could ruin everything we have worked so hard to gain and could even completely destroy the path to righteousness and glory for us. So set out and do not fail or you will damn us all.” Umbrazk finished, walking calmly and confidently away from the two.
