Introduction

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

If I offend anyone by distorting The Rapture or making a roleplay that allows a player to play God or Satan, you are free to hatemail me. And criticism is to be expected. I apologize for any offense.

Storyline

God has always had a sense of humour, always! So when he took notice of the speculation of the Mayans and thinking that maybe the world would end December 21st, 2012. He said unto his angels, "Let their world end, so that they can believe they were warned. And thus, it was fair for me to take them." And it was done, for God ordered it.

It was nothing like anyone expected. The storms erupted from nowhere on December 14th, 2012. It rained everywhere, even where it was expected to snow, it only rained for 7 days. Storms like the world had never seen before. Floods occured that consumed whole islands and washed away whole cities. But the horror was not this. No. What was expected to be beautiful, peaceful. Was anything but, to anyone who saw the christians go, it was horrific. The light broke the dark brewing clouds if only briefly. The christians were annihalated, a quick and painless death. They brought unto God and judged. And for the course of 2.16 minutes. Blood dripped from the skies with the passing of the christians.

Because God is merciful he wept, for the suffering of the world he had hoped so greatly for. As he wept the clouds subsided. The rain stopped. Millions had died from the disasters of the floods. Millions of committed christians had passed as their spirits were brought to Heaven.

The horror didn't end. Lucifer, Satan, wasted no time. Hell became the Earth, all those who thought they knew Hell surely did not. Crevices opened in the Earth's surface. Buildings collapsed upon one another. Great volcanoes erupted. The Oceans ran red with the blood of the damned. The major forests were burnt to ash. Only 1/4th of the human race pursevered.

And Satan sent his minions upon the Earth.
And because God is merciful, he sent his minions upon the Earth.

The world a wasteland, ash hangs in the air. Buildings are toppled over and most areas are flooded. The whole world was affected, but we will only focus on America. The wasteland of America.

Things to Know:

This roleplay is based in a world where nearly everything is possible. The only thing that limits you is the will of others and your imagination and skill as a roleplayer. You want to be Satan or God? That's fine! Just know that the part will be a rough one to play, and in this roleplay they can be combatted and destroyed.

Angels and demons must be decapitated to be killed. You may have one ability if you are an angel or demon. (E.g. A special weapon, or "power.") Every angel can fly with wings, if you're a large demon, (8-10 ft maximum) You give up the ability to fly. You must allow humans to be able to stand a chance in battle even though you're powerful. "It's not the size of the boy, it's the size of the fight in the boy that truly measures up."
Archangels are allowed, or Angels that feel that Earth is a hopeless cause. Demons with hearts of gold. Just be original and creative and I'll allow you to be what you want to be.

Darren

Darren stared at the air in front of him. He couldn't see anything there, but he could definitely feel it. Just moments ago, a series of massive red cracks branched off from where he could see Steve and an angel facing off. Where they had ended, a streak of energy rippled through the air, reaching up into the sky and arcing to meet in the center, directly above Steve and his foe. The energy had hung there for a moment, a massive, red, bleeding star, then it disappeared. As far as Darren could see, it hadn't done anything.

But he could certainly feel something. it was massive, right in front of him, with energy rolling off it in waves. Curious, he picked up a pair of rocks, and lobbed one ahead of him. Suddenly a series of bright red glyphs sprang to life where the rock struck them, and the rock went flying, a speeding bullet that narrowly passed his head. Darren blinked, and stared at the now empty air in front of him.

Cool.

Whatever wall/shield that Steve had set up, Darren sure wasn't going to be getting past it. He eyed the contestants with interest. Steve was... well, Steve. Big, ugly, ridiculously powerful. That, Darren had seen. The angel facing him was far smaller, though his magical presence wasn't far off Steve's. This would be an interesting fight. He wasn't quite sure who he wanted to win, but he'd get to enjoy the sight of either an angel or a demon getting the stuffing beaten out of them. Then he'd get the hell out of there, before either of them spotted him.

Suddenly, there was a cold, sharp pressure at his neck, as cool steel froze him in place. He sighed. This really just isn't my day.

"Who are you, that carries the blade of both an angel and a demon? Your answer had best be satisfactory." Some people would have described the voice as rich and authoritative, a powerful bass that was simultaneously imperial and musical. Darren was not some people. He would have said the person sounded a bit stuck up, and probably needed to pull the stick out of their bum. They also sounded like someone who should be taking their sword away from Darren's neck, but that was just his opinion.

"And, hypothetically speaking, what would happen if my answer were not, shall we say, 'satisfactory'?"

"Then I'm afraid you might find your sudden lack of head rather less than satisfactory too."

"Ah. Fair enough. Just good to get these kinds of things established." Darren shifted slightly, and the blade followed his movements instantly, keeping pinned to his neck. He stole a peek sideways, and saw the angel standing at the end of that blade. Nothing compared to Steve and his angel buddy over there, but this one was still a fairly powerful looking fellow in his own right. Darren doubted very much that he was bluffing.

"If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate if you could tell me what that thing is first."

"What thing?"

"That" Darren said, chucking the second rock out into space, a little right of the first one. Again the rock struck the glyphs, and again it came rocketing back. This time though, something was in it's way. It struck the Angel square in the head, bouncing off, and he stumbled back, shock and pain registering on his face.

He recovered in an instant, but Darren was already poised to fight, the demon blade in his right hand and the angel short-sword in his left. He could feel his back shift and twitch, as if muscles he didn't have were already tensing for battle. He merely smiled at the angel, a twinkle in his eye.

"So, was that answer satisfactory for you?"

Ruins of Manhattan:

Belial the Scourge stands triumphant as he looks down on the trapped Angel within the cage and says," Where is your haughtiness and vainglory now Angel?" Belial holds his flaming spear out as it and the shield both vanish in a haze of black smoke. Belial comes close to the Enochian Cage and his serpent head twist and slithers on it's neck. Belial's haunting voice is heard saying," I could snuff you out with no effort now Angel but that is not your destiny this day. Something much, much grander is the fate of your kind. I would be doing you a kindness this day to kill you now. But no, kindness for fools this day." Belial's wolf head turns around to look behind them as it snaps it's jaws at the air and snarls. Belial sighs as he turns and the sound of snapping bone and shifting organs can be heard coming from his body. He drops to all fours as his body morphs for quadruped travel. Belial says, "Ah more company, that is quite alright, there will be plenty of pain to go around." Belial heavily muscled legs propel him from the ground up into the air. He claws ding into the side of building as he pulls himself to the top of the structure and looking down at the Enochian cage allows his eyes to glow once before he disappears into the shadows. As he does the red glowing cracks in the ground fade and the cage with them....

Skytomb, High Over the Ruins of Saint Louis:

Mephistopheles sits easily in his black oak throne as he stares at the portals images through Belial's eyes. As the images show Belial the Scourge leaving Manhattan with a small army of lesser Demons in tow Mephistopheles looks thoughtful as Destain the Chosen stands next to the left arm of the throne and says," Master, we have company." Mephistopheles throne slowly rotates as he sees easily striding through the doors a lean young man in a blue over coat that sits open at the chest. The youth is in excellent physical shape. The boy stops and looks distastefully about as he says, "Ah old Mr. Mephistopheles, my boss got your message. He will meet with you there." Mephistopheles looks out the massive windows of SkyTomb to see the youth pointing at the ruins of the Gateway Arch. Mephistopheles looks back to see the youth now standing at the foot of the steps. Before Mephistopheles can react the youth is then standing next to the arm of throne as he leans over and says," Don't be late." Then the youth is gone before the blink of an eye......

Ruins of the Arch:

Mephistopheles stand upon the steps that once led to the river below. He looks out upon the red bloody hue of the Mississippi River. An ominous growl can be heard in the distance as rusted and ruined bridges span the river in all directions. A massive wave pulses through the bloody river as if something massive is lurking beneath those waves. Mephistopheles does not take his eyes from the river as he hears," Quiet a sight eh? Your kind and the Angels have quite a job on this planet no?" Mephistopheles turns to see a tall statuesque woman standing next to him seeming to appear out of nowhere. her long raven hair cascades about her milky white shoulders. Her ample bosom his held up by a black bustier which flares out into a sheer black skirt. Two black wolves sit obediently on either side of her as she says," I apologize for Hermes less then diplomatic delivery of the message he does so what coming here now days."

Mephistopheles leans on his gnarled cane as he nods and says," I was under the impression that your husband was going to meet me here Persephone?' She shrugs and says," He is currently attending a conclave, your recent appearance here has caused some disconcerting feelings amongst the various Parthenon's, especially since you were believed dead. So he is doing how do the humans say...ah damage control on your behalf" Mephistopheles ancient lips part as he flashes his yellow teeth in a smile and says," I am glad to cause so many sleepless nights to those fools." Persephone shakes her head and turning looks at the ruins of the Arch and says," Your pleasure is causing complications for my beloved husband. You two have a deal and it does not include shaking the pillars of the Heavenly realms and forcing a full war on this plane. You are to fulfill your part, or would you have my husband come here personally."

Persephone looks at Mephistopheles and with a look of sympathy says," You are mighty in the Infernal Realms old one, but this is Earth and my husband has had a long time to hone his skills on this plane. Do not make me come here again, avoid the Angels, repair the Arch." Persephone is surrounded by a black cloud that oozes from the ground up, it envelops her and her wolves then it dissipates and they are gone. Mephistopheles taps his cane on the ground as the shadows open to disgorge the lovely form of Destain who nods and says," Master?" Mephistopheles points with his staff at the Arch's ruins and says," Have the Lord Mayor of my new Eden brought to me, the rebuilding of this gateway must begin....." Destain bows as Mephistopheles vanishes in a column of fire.......

I walked from under the dispersing cage, rising from the crouch. He wished to follow. His wings had him immobile in more ways than one. It was like being used to walking all your life and suddenly being unable. He looked about for Azrakhal, whistling there was a stir and suddenly he was running forth from a crevice in the ruins. Well, the help he was in that fight. Pain coursed through my broken body, the wings had just begun to grow back. The Hellhound slid beneath my dangling right hand and I pet him gently.

The beast turned suddenly, his ears perked. I turned, vaguely could be heard the bickering between two parties. Looking about, I spotted them. An angel I'd once known, and some, human. There was a strange air about the boy. Clearly he was, different. He seemed overconfident, to sure of himself. I'd turn to them, a far off distance, but I could see the friction between them. I'd let my sword dangle in my left hand, pulling my right from the dog and raising it to the collection of them. My core growing fiercly cold. Frost forming at the tips of my fingers.

The angel raised it's sword into a defensive stance, regarding Darren through narrowed, hostile eyes. "You dare to assault an angel? Blasphemer!"

Darren gave the angel one of his are-you-really-that-fucking-stupid looks. "Seriously? You just had your sword at my neck, threatening to behead me. Don't go getting all high and mighty. What the hell did you expect me to do? Smile and hold still?"

"Do not take that tone with me human! You dare lay your filthy hands on a holy blade, and then you attempt to thwart your judgement by assaulting an angel?" The angel shook it's head pityingly, readying itself to strike. "There is only one thing you can do now. Pray. Pray to God, for forgiveness. You were not taken in the first wave, but he may yet grant your soul redemption. You had best do it now, for I shall be delivering your soul to him shortly."

"Bite me."

The angel struck. It clearly wasn't expecting any resistance from Darren. It was a reckless lunge, and the angel had telegraphed the movement far ahead of the actual attack. Still, it was faster than Darren had expected, and he almost didn't react in time in his surprise. But he managed to dodge it, diverting the tip of the blade with his angel short-sword while moving in for a strike with the demon long-sword. It slashed down and the angel reeled back at the last second, the blade leaving a red slash down the angels right cheek.

The angel had dodged in time, but it was a desperate, last second thing. He was off-balance, left open to attack. Darren pressed the attack, and the angel beat a desperate retreat, back-peddling desperately as it tried to regain the advantage. But Darren was near as fast as the angel, and he took full advantage of the angels desperation. His attacks were fast, vicious, and merciless. The two swords came at the angels seemingly independently, not allowing the angel to develop any sort of rhythm.

Frustration replaced the shock that had been on the angels face, as he struggled against this human. The angel had never heard of a human that could resist an angel. Humans were weak, to be guided and manipulated by angels or demons. They did not take a stand. They did not resist. No human had ever blocked an angels attack, let alone launched a counter! Oh no, the angel thought to itself. What if this human beats me? I would be the first angel ever to die in battle against a human! I am a servant of the lord! I will not have such an insult befall my lord and father! Lord father who art in heaven, lend me strength to smite this demon in mans-flesh, so that I may drive back what ever strange new evil has allowed him to resist me!

The angel fought back more fervently, and cleared enough of an opening to dart back. A strong beat of it's wings carried it further backwards, opening up a gap between the two contestants. The angel glared at Darren, barely concealed hatred and contempt on it's face.

"How did a human gain such power? What manner of demon have you whored yourself out to?"

"The only demons I ever whored myself out to wore mini-skirts and tank tops, and I don't think they had anything to do with my power," Darren said with a wink. "How about you big boy? I'm guessing you're more the choir-boy type."

"You dare mock me? A mere human, laced with corruption and sin?!"

"I'm sinful? You are wrathful, arrogant, prideful, and murderous. At least I recognize my flaws, and do not claim holiness and divinity."

It was amusing to watch the angels face. His eyes bugged out in rage, and his nostrils flared. Darren wouldn't have been surprised if he had started frothing at the mouth. Disappointing. I thought angels were supposedly a 'better race'. I know that to be false, but still, I had expected better than this. So simple, so easily manipulated. He's so angry he's not even trying to hide his movements. Look at the way he's tensing up. He's going to launch at me with an overhead smash, I'll bet you anything.

Suddenly the angel darted forward, a flap of it's wings propelling it into the air, to come smashing down towards Darren. Bingo. As Darren brought his blades up for a counter, he spotted something. Another angel, watching them. Shit.

Baziath was always one to be brash and presumptious. Picking on humans, though. Lowly. Even for him. He'd always been one of the weaker angels in a brawl, quick to underhand an opponent. He was well known for his cowardice and uninvolvement in the revolt of Lucifer. A strange sight, clearly he hadn't volunteered to fight in this war on Earth. Then, why was he here? It was a pitiful show seeing him losing. His own fault, then. On my watch, though. His death would be unexcusable, a single shard. A relentless projectile beyond the sight of those with even powerful vision. It was a simple attack and thus was carried out with immense skill. This icy bullet, I'd seen enough, Baziath extended his wings, rushing at the human, another reckless attempt. He never quite made it, however.

Two small holes were ripped in his wings, and they crumpled suddenly with the wind. He yelped and went skidding into the ruins. I smiled warmly, how often I'd wished to do that. Azrukhal nudged me, the beast's wide head was tilted slightly, and I nodded. It took the orders well, rushing forward to recover the angel. Then positioned my hand at the human. I'd let out a deep sigh, frost would carry in the exhale.

"What exactly is the cause of all this?" I'd yell to the boy, my voice was jovial, all around friendly. Something would lie in the undertone, ready to become more existant dependant on the character of this human that had successfully held his own against an angel. It was mildly impressive, if it had been any other angel, it would have been shocking.

To some, it might seem that Darrens luck had changed. Darren, however, doubted that very much. Granted, this new, smiling stranger had just ripped the attacking angel away. But this smiling stranger was also an angel, and Darren wasn't inclined to believe he held Darrens best interests at heart. The most dangerous enemies were often the ones that started off smiling at you.

Darren considered, just for a moment, trying to make a break for it, but thought better of it. With the power pouring off this angel, he knew he'd stand no chance if he was caught, not even for a second. Besides, those wings looked a lot faster than his legs. No, the only way out is talking.

"Your buddy over there got a little pissy because I had laid my 'filthy human' hands on an angels blade. I found it on a dead angel. Fool had flown in front of a bus in the early days. It wasn't like he was going to be using the sword. Wait-" Darren said, with sudden recognition, "- you were the angel fighting Steve - I mean, that big ugly demon - just a few moments ago. Did you kill him? What happened?"

I raised a skeptical eyebrow, angel hit by a bus..Hmm. I'd drop my defensive right hand reaching back to feel the ill formed wings that were making swift progress at becoming of use again. There was a yelp in the distance and low growling. Looked as though Azrukhal had found Baziath. Wouldn't be long until he had the angel here. I perked my ears at the mention of the previous excuse of a battle. My smile would falter but return, unwavering.

"Baziath is well known for his brash actions. It's a cold dark world, you live in, he shouldn't have jumped to fight you at the sight of you having taken a seraphim blade to defend yourself." I'd look about for it, eyeing the blade for a moment then looking at the face of the boy. It was odd, there was no feeling of power about him that was supernatural, the way he presented himself, yes, but even humans emitted some form of minor reading.

This was unheard of. "As for the battle, Belial had me trapped a moment before running off unexpectedly." I'd look to the building he'd leapt to. Wondering what the demon of other realms was up to. What ever it was, it wasn't a noble goal, surely. I'd reach behind me sheathing my sword as to not worry this human. Angels had gone a thousand years before many began becoming corrupt. They ached for the chance to be sinful, to be free in more ways than one. It was sad, they were sad.

"What is your name then, human, that defends himself?" I'd carry the last bit as to put him at more ease, perhaps. Let him know I recognized he wasn't weak. Or that I didn't know he was, and expected him to be strong. There was something deadly in the pit of his eyes.

"Belial huh?" Eh, I prefer Steve. But I'll remember that in case I ever meet the demon again. No point letting this angel know about me and Belial's little chat earlier.

The angel sheathed it's sword, but Darren let his stay where they were. No doubt this angel could draw and cut him down before he could bat an eyelid, but 'Baziath' was not so quick. If he attacked, Darren would at least want to be able to defend himself.

This angel at least seemed far more understanding and reasonable, but that alone didn't make him trustworthy. Darren would tread carefully.

"Darren. Darren Lee Taylor to use my full name, though names haven't been much use recently. I suppose I owe you thanks, for pulling Baziath off me. Someone should keep him on a leash. With a choke chain, preferably." He cast a glance at Baziath, who was currently being escorted by the Hellhound that had accompanied the other angel. That was odd. An angel and a demon working together. Maybe that meant this angel wasn't quite the mightier-than-thou type that he'd come to expect from angels.

"It is nice to see there is still someone who would spare those that mean them no harm. There are too many creatures nowadays who would hurt others simply for the fun of it. What is your name then, angel, that would spare a lowly human?"

"Not so lowly, unless he permits himself to be." I'd look to the ground a moment as if deep in thought then return my gaze to his, I linked my fingers together and popped them at the knuckles before letting them drop to my sides. He hadn't sheathed his blades, and so I took up a decievingly nonchalant defensive stance. Ready for a sudden attack.

"I'm by the name Charoum. He who talks little and says much." I'd stand silent a moment, then recap the nature of this boy. "As opposed to he who talks much and says little." It'd be said jokingly, but with meaning behind it.

"His leash belongs to The Lord. And as for you, Darren. It's a pleasure to meet you. You wield power, so I'm tempted to believe you've turned to demons for such skills." I would squint my eyes in medial scrutiny, analyzing and rolling over the idea in my head. Any number of demons could curse him in such a way, or even inhabit his body.

"I won't assume such things." I'd jerk my head suddenly at the sight of Azrukhal pulling Baziath by the shoulder to my feet. He made little effort to resist, his body was splattered with his own pale blue blood and his wings were contorted and broken. What a nasty fall. The smile on my face would only grow broader after inspecting the sorry excuse for an angel. Pray for those led astray.

I'd look back to Darren, petting the Hellhound solemnly as he made his way beneath my right hand after freeing the angel from his jaws. Leaving Baziath to his wincing and short moans of pain.

Darren

Darren smiled slightly at the angels little jibe. Seems we've got a witty one.

"Look around us Charoum. All there is, as far as the eye can see, is destruction and devastation. Mindless slaughter and chaos. Perhaps, in such circumstances, you will allow me to savor some joy in my own petty witticisms. I have yet to find any anywhere else." Darren gazed out across the city, sober for a moment. He had been living here for the past 6 years, and the city felt like home. Seeing it like this reminded him of... things best forgotten. "It is so easy to lose yourself to sadness and hate. We all need something to cling to, or we lose sight of who we are."

Darren looked the angel over. To be frank, he was a mess. Mismatched armor, blood and dirt still covering him, and wings that were crippled and malformed. Yet he still carried himself with absolution, and purpose. Despite this he managed to look at ease. Well, not truly at ease. Years of Karate and self-defense classes allowed Darren to recognize a defensive stance. Power or not, Darren knew that without that knowledge and skill he would have long ago perished. He also knew that that knowledge and skill would be for naught against this angel. He sheathed the swords, to show that he meant no harm. Besides, Azrukhal was in no shape to attack anyone.

"Thank you, for giving me the benefit of the doubt. I have seen enough of demons first hand to know that I would gain nothing serving them. I would either become one of them, or, when I had served my purpose, I would perish. Speaking of demons, I see that you are master of a Hell-hound. How did that come to happen?"

I'd stare down at Azrukhal, the Hellhound was on edge, alert. Something wasn't quite right about the area. It was a part of the city that had once been a park of sorts, and it showed in the space, covered in rubble that came from buildings that had been blocks away. Hmm.. Benefit of the doubt? I'd look about at the cue of destruction, devestation, mindless slaughter, and chaos. A desolate city of desolate souls, and a petty war over what's left of humanity. This boy, risky business, where did he fall into the way of things?

I'd look down where there was a bright pale scar spread jagged vertically along one of Azrukhal's ribs, where I had, pulled one ajar and nearly out. The Lord had healed him nicely. Smiling genuinley before returning my gaze back to the general direction of Darren, not quite trusting the air about him. It was strange, seeming as though I searched for Overlords in his very presence.

"I provided the miracle that saved his life, and it seems as though he considers there a debt to be repayed." My voice would carry on the word repayed. I'd look up at the darkening sky. "Be careful, Darren. The ruins carry whispers on the winds, and ambition in the ways of things." I'd speak with genuine care evident in my voice for the boy, and his kind, what ever kind that may be.

I'd lower my head and drop the stance, my exhausted body giving in to the pleasure of relaxation. I'd walk to Baziath and grab him by the wings, runny pale blood was sticky on my hands and dirty white feathers broke free, gliding along as I gently began pulling Baziath along. Azrukhal hung back as if unsure about the path ahead.

On the steps of the old city hall, dozens mill about as one man stands at the top of steps and looking down says,".........my true pleasure to serve, as Lord Mayor I promise to make sure that all that is good about humanity is not lost to the madness of our world. I promise to ensure that we scrape out a new beginning here. Safety, Security, and Satisfaction in New Eden!" The people clap as for the first time in years the lights of City Hall blaze to life and a few buildings near the City Hall also come to life. At this sight the clapping increases as someone yells out, "God bless you Thomas King!" The Lord Mayor of New Eden Thomas King nods as he turns and heads through the doors of the building. he is met by an aide who juggles papers in her hand as she says," Lord King I have the reports from Power and Water, they are saying that they cannot keep the lights on to whole downtown area."

King frowns as he starts ascending the stairs he looks about as small teams of people are seen working to fix the windows or clean heaps of rubbish from the building and in some cases remove bodies long rotted from hidden corners of the building. He looks thoughtful as he says," Tell them to keep power to the City Hall and the buildings with a two block of radius of here, we will keep people in those buildings for now until we can fix the grid to the other areas and get power restored there." Thomas enters the office that would have once belonged to the Mayors of old Saint Louis. He passes portraits and old rotted flags as he moves behind his desk and taking the seat sighs and leans back in the chair as he says," The foraging teams?" The aide pulls a paper from her folder and says," They are retrieving only 25% of the required provisions that we need, and the population continues to increase everyday sir. We are already at head count of 3,000 and rising."

Thomas leans forward and shuffles some papers on his desk and says," Keep weeding out the men, I want them put on the Farm, Foraging or Restoration teams. This is how we rebuild, how we will be reborn. The farm teams need time to get crops planted. It is going to be tough since the sun has not shined in who knows how long and the river is all but in-fishable, I do not want to think of what is in there." A eerie voice echoes out from the shadows," Things that would make your skin crawl Lord Mayor." Thomas and his aide both watch as the lithe figure of Destain emerges from the shadows. She appears as a tall raven haired woman in a black suit with a short skirt. Her hair is done up in an elaborate style and she wears black rimmed glasses. Her shirt is unbuttoned just enough to tantalize the imagination as she moves from the shadows and takes the seat across the desk from the Lord Mayor. Thomas nods at the aide who with a look of displeasure takes his papers and leaves the room closing the door behind her. Thomas looks slightly uncomfortable as he tries not to look into the eyes of Destain as he says, "Destain, it is a pleasure, is there something wrong?"

Destain raises a perfectly sculpted eyebrow as she says," I do not know is there Thomas, perhaps if there was a problem it would be that my and your benefactor have given you a veritable kingdom and you have yet to deliver on your end of the bargain. We give you a safe haven from the dangers of this world and you in turn...obey." Thomas quickly says," I am of course very grateful but I am still trying to get things in order, I am building from the ground up here. There is the issue of feeding these people and the infrastructure...." Destain raises on long black finger tip in the air and says," All issues I am sure you are capable of dealing with, but I would suggest you start allocating resources to the Archway project immediately. Time is ticking." Destain slowly becomes hollow and then fades away in a flash of black smoke. Thomas swallows hard as he looks out the window to the ruins of the Arch and starts making plans for the rebuilding........

It had been a long route, winding through the ruins and over lower parts. As Baziath became aware of his predicament and his wounds began to recover. He resisted if only the slightest bit. It was growing dark and I pull him to a crook in the way of the city, it was behind a large jutting steel, mangled wall of sorts and set back as if hidden and surrounded on all sides by ruins of what seemed to be an old arena. As the sun peeled away, the faint glow of day was no longer attacking the dark shielding clouds above. Only darkness fell, and twinkles of stars could be seen, showing through thin wisps of cloud as something was about within them, perhaps tending to the flock.

I would pull my sword from it's sheathe behind my back and plant it in the ground at the center of the clearing, it would glow faintly and in a strange tongue I would ask that the Lord's light shine brighter. The weapon responded, becoming a brilliant gold that cast light upon the area. This worked in two days, to give them light and to keep smaller demons at bay, but in this way was a disadvantage showing larger demons to them. As I pulled up from the crouch to stand my eyes would settle on Baziath, the bright light would catch my irises making them a fiery and passionate glare that made the angel's eyes divert looking about. He was fully aware of his surroundings. He had healed for the most part, but what was he doing here in the first place?

"Well then, Baziath, old pal. What are you up to?" My voice would be strong and indignant, I would be trying to assert my clear authority in this moment and let him know that I would be intolerant to lies and deciet. Azrukhal didn't seem to sense the tension, he lay with his head slightly cocked and gazing at the entrance of the clearing, a few feet away from Baziath. Who gulped and would look about before meeting my gaze.

"Charoum, we're hardly pals." His voice would catch with slight fear but he would maintain dignity with his words, pausing a moment to divert his eyes and continue, "I come to extend orders," He'd reach into a pouch at his belt and pull from it a metal star, the metal would be strange and tinted gold. It was a large pendent, and it was all to clear that this was a symbol of the Northern Star. "You're to assemble a force, and take these ruins." He would smile in delight running his fingers over the pendent.

"I'm to assist you, he expects the area purged within three weeks time." He'd seem gleeful as if it was a special assignment, fit only for someone of his skill. I'd crack a smile, wicked. The pendent was a clear sign, so that all Charoum exposed it to would have no choice but to obey. To join his force, but something was hidden behind the look on Baziath's face. I caught it suddenly as he peered at me, and then went to look away.

"Give me the pendent." I would demand, my voice stern. Then there was the sudden sound of havoc among the city, within several blocks. It was a loud crack and a cry, a low whine and the sound, ghastly, of a Hellhound known only as Cerberus. The form of one of his heads was just audible, looming over the wreckage of a building that had been cleared of twenty something stories, right off the top. It seemed to be looking for something. I'd charge forward grabbing and pulling the sword from the ground and sheathing it in one fluid motion.

Cerberus-Created by Satan after the Greek, Hades guard dog. It's much larger than the average Hellhound and features three heads, each of which can breath fire. It's tough body and extreme power make it an extremely formidabble foe. It's believed Lucifer spent many souls in the creation of the monstrocity. It has been used in many wars among Hell. Sometimes used as a weapon, sent and single handedly killing minor Demonlords and their miniscule forces. It's fur is jet black as opposed to the reddish tint carried by Hellhounds, it's gnarled fangs are blackened due to being scortched repeatedly. It stands at 10 feet at the shoulders when on all fours, 5 more feet than the Hellhound and has an unnatural ability to feed on fear. Which it causes a great deal. It's eyes are the fires of Hell, red and flickering.

Ruins of Manhattan:

As the Angels converse on a ledge high overhead a small skittering rat like demon moves across the ledge and stops. It leans back on it's haunches and watches the two Angels and their accompanying Hellhound. As the massive demon dog Cerberus explodes into the area the rat demon quirks it's head......

SkyTomb:

Mephistopheles sits comfortable on his throne as he looks into the vast portal before him and looks through the rat demons eyes. Behind him Raum the Hated, Belial the Scourge, and Magog the Eternal all stand, their massive hulking forms taking up qutie a bit of room. Destain leans on the arm of the throne with her hand perched lightly on Mephistopheles shoulder as she says," An interesting creature, but how will it fare against Angels?" Mephistopheles eyes narrow as he says," Let us see what our enemies are capable of throwing at one another. This should prove to be very educational..."

Cerberus' ears would perk as it looked about the ruins, it's eyes casting off light enough themselves to allow it to see well in the dark. There was pain in those fired eyes, it quivered slightly, advancing. I'd raise a hand to Baziath as if to tell him to stay put, but I felt only empty air, I would turn to see him running through the ruins, and squabbling over a large pile of heap. I'd grit my teeth, in anger and pity. Cerberus saw his desperate attempt rushing forward with a snarl. I'd retreat a few steps before letting out a scream of my own, I'd charge forward, running up the ruins with practiced grace, leaping to the top and jumping forward, to my dismay the beast would have jumped forward at the same moment, looking to vault the ruins and capture Baziath in one set of it's jaws.

I pulled my arms back, clasping my hands together and extending them before releasing a horizontal club-like blow at the side of Cerberus' jaw as it went to kill me with one massive bite. It would catch it in the right ear and the head would reel back it's momentum shifting with the tremendous force, I would slide forth below the beast into a roll as I connected with the ground, I would stand from the roll turning quickly to the sight of Cerberus sliding on all it's paws and it shifted it's weight to gain balance, turning to let all six eyes gaze upon me. The right ear of the middle head had the faintest sight of demonic ichor dripping from it.

I shifted into the darkness, doing my best to blend and hide from the light of it's eyes. I was pressed to a steel girder that hand fallen, concrete still clung to it and I readied myself behind it running prayers through my head. Suddenly there was a deep bellowing sound and flame hit my cover, scorching the concrete black. "God help me." I would mutter through gritted teeth, erupting from behind the scorched rubble. I extended my arm as another blast of flame erupted from the mouth of the right head, the beast was splayed and exerting it's very soul.

My hand erupted with ice and the result was an unfathomably deep steam, I would keep forth, sweat gathering on my brow. I would pull my sword free with my free hand, seeing a slight shift through the steam the other heads positioned them to join the splay. This could very well be the end. With a hard flick of my wrist through the extending of my arm as I drew the sword it would be sent flying catching the left most head in the right eye. It reeled back, it's flames haulted and I uttered ancient words excitedly, for my very life depended on it. Suddenly the Lord's light would erupt from the blade and Cerberus would sink back farther bellowing in the pain of the Lord's light and the sudden frost gathering on it's right shoulder.

I suppose I jumped the gun, I had kept my pace and as it's shoulder became icy the frost would halt and I would swing my arms back leaping forward. It's right most head catch me by the metal curaiss I had fashioned of the Demon Lord's armour. I felt the sudden heat, and metal was no good conductor..I would wince in crushing pain, grit my teeth as teeth made their way through and penetrated the skin below. I pulled my hands up and brought them down repeatedly on the right eye kicking at the snapping middle head as it struggled to get it's jaws around my ankles.

It squinted reeling at the pain, it took three good blows before it jerked down letting go, I was thrown in a heap on my shoulder and there was a deep crack at the sound of the bones in my shoulder shifting and breaking. I would let out a deep yell of pain, pulling my dagger from it's sheathe at my belt as It went to crush me beneath one of it's large paws. I would reach up stabbing it in the soft part of it's padded feet. It would growl but bring it down with crushing force only slowed. I would let out a deep scream of effort, "Rrrraaaagghhh!" And as I got the foot inches from connecting with me I heard a low growl from something smaller.

Suddenly Azrukhal was leaping forth and catching Cerberus on the left shoulder, clamping his jaws down and pulling at the beast and throwing it slightly off balance. It's foot came up farther and I would pull the dagger away rolling out from beneath it's crushing paw. I would roll into a aggressive stance using the oppertunity to jump up grabbing a hand full of the beast's fur and pulling myself up against it's convulsing body. I would drive the blade of the dagger into it's spine and demonic ichor would erupt from the wound, splattering my face. I would pull myself farther up I would pull it out and stab repeatedly before with one large convulsion I would be sent flying into a nearly destroyed building.

A yelp would sound through the city, Azrukhal's call. I would erupt from the rubble of the building, my poorly formed wings distorted and mangled. 'By God's good grace I will fly again, one day.' I would be covered in a thin film of dusted ruin, and there would be pale blood dripping from a hole in the black demon curaiss covering my stomach. A scar leaking the blue liquid as well at my neck. I would charge forward jumping from the open hole that had been ripped inside of the still standing building. I would feel it's instability as the building quaked as I drew away. I would see the large three headed hound facing off with a bloodied Azrukhal. I landed at a run, the dagger was buried in the back of the beast, and the sword still glowed in the eye of one of the heads.

The beast began a slight turn at the sound of me, and I would jump at it as it did so, grabbing the left head in a struggled headlock pulling the head towards the ground, I would plant my feet letting out a scream of effort. Pulling it towards the building. Azrukhal would fall back giving in to his wounds and the beast would struggle with immense strength against my grasp. I would pray through gritted teeth as distance was fleeting, we closed the gap, the heads snapping, teeth closing within an inch of my head, looking for some way to let fire upon me without injuring or killing itself.

With a great snarl of triumph I would reel slightly before heaving the beast at one of the structurally unsound concrete pillars of the building. It would let out a yelo in pain as there was a small snap as it clashed with the pillar, it's spine bending slightly and the building nearly falling right in that moment. I would rush forward grabbing the other side of the pillar and pushing with what strength I had left, it would crack once more and I would have to escape suddenly, charging forth as the building began to cave. I rushed forth grabbing Azrukhal and half carrying, half dragging the Hellhound away as the building collapsed onto Cerberus behind us.

SkyTomb:

Mephistopheles claps his gnarled claw like hands together with glee and then places them on the top of his cane as he says," Bravo, that was theatrics' at it's finest!" Destain nods as she says," It would seem that Angels are limited severely in their powers and abilities here on Earth, but why?" Mephistopheles rises and walking past his Demon Lords passes through the archway and stands on the balcony. Looks out over the ruins of Saint Louis and looks upon the skeletal scaffolds that are surrounding the legs of the Arch. He smirks and says," This world and it's planes location in the fabric of existence is the lone reason. When this plane formed neither Demon nor Gods would come here because of the effect it has on their powers. But one tiny thing made the most fearful and the most proud set aside their bias for this plane." Destain looks thoughtful as she says," Souls." Mephistopheles nods and in a voice of agreement says," Yes souls, their power and their secret is what keeps them coming even now." Destain looks curious as she says, "Secret? What is the secret of souls?" Mephistopheles pit black eyes glow with a red tinge as he says," All in good time, Once I explain it, nothing will ever be the same again, but lets take it one step at a time......"

I would lie in the depths of the ruins at the camp before, I was without weapons, beaten and bruised and Azrukhal bled ichor in the corner of the camp, in the darkness of night. Baziath was no where to be seen and my sin was hoping him dead for leaving them both to die. His body ached, his soul ached, but Cerberus lay dead. That was enough. He imagined Lucifer, sitting on a throne some where, angry and brooding. Against everything, he smiled at the thought, what would come of this? Would he simply make another? He felt fufilled, he had conquered a great feat. The night faded away and as dark light settled on the world once again. His eyes would stir beneath dirty lids, they would crumple peeling away slowly over irises that still glowed with determination. His body would ache and he would groan turning his head slowly to survey his surroundings. Azrukhal lay, his tongue lolled against the ruins, his breathing labored. He had no healing abilities. Sad to think about. It would take him weeks to recover completely.

A thin light shone through the clouds, and he pray silently to his Lord. For Azrukhal, for the world, for his enemies, and for himself. He would have pulled himself up to bow and now stood nearly falling back into the massive pile of ruins as his knees buckled. He caught himself letting out a thin, dry laugh. Today, is a new day. He would grin.

A slow methodical clap can be heard echoing through the ruins as the beaten Angel, the lone warrior half stood half fell. From a smoking pile of ruin the form of a gnarled and broken throne of rubble stood. A thin shaft of red light fell upon the ancient and wizened figure that sat on the throne. The old man that sat upon the throne stopped clapping as his bony hands gripped the ruined edges of the throne. His face hidden within the depths of his cowl, his red glowing eyes, two angry red points of light shone out of the hood as the eerie voice said," Well played warrior, it has been a long time since I was so entertained. Tell me, how does it feel to take the life of your sworn enemies, to kill that poor imposture of the true Cerberus."

The old man chuckles at the Angels look as he says, "Ah yes, you thrones and cherubs are unfamiliar with the creatures of old, do you think I would be talking to you now if that had been the true gatekeeper of the underworld, the pet of Hades?" The old figure rises from the throne, as he does a black twisted cane appears in his hand from a poof of black smoke. The figure floats down to the ground and leaning on the cane says," You Angels have grown prideful and indolent have you not? I watched your comrade flee from the field, shocking if not for the fact that being on this speck of dirt has a habit of turning even the most noble of creatures base." The old man looks about the ruined area and taking a deep breath stretches out his arms and says, "But I must admit I did miss the corruption and filth of this plane." The old man locks eyes with the Angel and with a flourish says," Forgive my manners, allow me to introduce myself, my friends call me Mr. Scratch, or the Old One. You can call me Mephistopheles and I have a message for your master, but I, in my infinite benevolence will allow to sate your curiosity for I can see that you are full of questions."...........

Charoum would listen with his ears perked, raising a skeptical eyebrow. Azrukhal would stir whimpers of horror heard from the shadows. He would look to the man, this Mephistopheles and he knew of a man by this name. A name tied to hell. "I don't bother with picking and choosing, I simply come to an enemy, and overcome thy enemy." His voice would be solemn, broken as his body with a deep pain. He would hold himself with poise however in the face of this evil. A gleam in his eyes determined and strong. "As for how it feels, knowing they're back in the abyss is enough." The old man didn't seem to wish to fight, it would seem. Though something didn't sit well about him.

He would dwell on the grouping a moment. His face distorting with slight anger before calm would come back to him. "Do not group me with those of us that come for sin." His voice would become stern, and he would meet the old man's gaze. He would have questions. You couldn't trust the tongue of your enemies. He would struggle to lift his sore arms to his chest, crossing them. "If by master you mean God, I would extend the message, happily." He would give a polite, broad smile.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Getting out of 1st person. I kept finding myself mixing other characters. So I gotta be careful about that.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

You can post in the roleplayers wanted thing, but hell. Don't even remember how to get there.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Man we need some more people in this, this is a great story.

How do we get moved to the front page of this site I wonder?

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

I hope everything is alright, as well. Goodluck in handling it, and we'll leave him be for now, he can fade into it all and if you decide to come back, make a reappearance if you find time to come back.

Maybe someone else will join, eventually.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Yikes,

I hope everything is ok.

But man does this kind of put things in a lurch.

And we were just starting to gear up for some versus action.

No prob. I can adjust the story

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Hey guys,

I'm really sorry, but something has come up irl and I'm not going to be up to posting anymore. This rp seems really cool, and it's a real shame, but I'm afraid I have to leave. Sorry that it's so sudden. Someone can adopt Darren if they want, or you can simply have him get killed or disappear.

Goodbye

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

No worries, I had intended for him to still be near defenceless against an angel like Charoum.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

By the way, in no way am I undermining your character. Just trying to play into him being a weak and easy target(For your character) and develop on the plot.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Hahaha, yea. His mind might not be able to keep up with his mouth, but it's still pretty quick.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

I kind of have this evil plot in mind that old Mephistopheles is up to.

His Demon Lords are a vital part of it but not so vital that they cannot fall.

Belial is not interested in killing you yet. That may draw the attention of an Arc-angel and Belial has orders not to disturb Lucifer's little war yet.

My next post should clear things up a bit and leave you with a better idea of where things are going.

And wow is it me or is Darren one clever individual?

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Just to be sure, I'm not the angel, you're fighting, right?

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

@ParagonRex: Out of curiosity, how do you see this fight between Belial and Charoum going down? Are they just going to end up going their separate ways, or are you willing for Belial to die? Keep it a surprise if you want to, I was just curious as you have several other characters

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

I fully understand you wanting to get on a level where you can be an element of worry for either side of the war. A challenge to demons or angels. I think it depends on which way you're going, like which side you take, which way your power goes. But yes, on that, Godly level. The idea would be that everyone keeps to one power, but they grow stronger in that area, along with strength and such.

The challenge is that we can't godmod. But our character's can have god-like abilities. <_>

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Alright, where would you estimate his eventual power limit? Belial level? More? Less? Obviously it would take a while to get to that stage, but I don't want him to always just be tossed around by any high-level angel/demon he encounters.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Aftershock has a brilliant idea going. Only one power, guys. Once you've gotten to doing what a demon lord or angel can do, you gotta stop, alright, Aftershock? Buuut, shall we take it this way, the more POWERFUL(Demonlord, or up. Angel or Archangel or up.) demons you kill. The stronger your character is all around. Like for me, it would be gaining God's favour in battle, Belial and them, not sure, Mephistopheles favour? Though he isn't technically of Satan status yet. I'm looking for suggestions to make the plot thicker. Give it more substance. It may evolve to the point, the good characters are directly opposing Mephistopheles and his ambitions.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Thank you, thank you, applause and money both appreciated!

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

I enjoyed the witty banter as well. X)

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

That was the most hilarious post I have ever read.

Seriously, that was a great monologue.

I cannot wait to see how Belial reacts

;)

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Darren gets a little desperate.

Re: The Twisted Rapture.

Sorry, Bizarre. I didn't see that you had accustomed your post to include me until I'd reread the page! I did my best to change mine real quick without having to redo it completely. Rushed between roleplays lately.
