If he doesn't care he will simply walk away. Once this happens, understand that Jack may never even look back. He is always focusing on moving forward, his past is the past and he doesn't dwell in it.

Jack is also a jokester, he loves to see people smile. Especially after the virus hit. After laughter there isn't much else that Jack can really have in his life. Which is why he tries to also be distant. Jack isn't standoffish but once an emotional tie is made he would back away. He had lost enough and he doesn't want to lose any more. He is friendly enough though, if asked for help he will do what he can to do so. But at the end of the day, Jack is just trying to survive.

Jack lived the typical small town life. His family had been there since the town was settled and they really hadn't gone anywhere else. The farm was making good money so why would they really leave? He grew up on a farm which made him very active. He want to a small high school but he played football as a Defensive Linebacker to fill up his time. Not that he found the farm life to be boring but Jack wanted to do something in the world. He wanted to make a difference.

He eventually joined up with the US Army out of High School. Jack's family approved and supported this decision. Jack wasn't sure at first if this was the route he wanted to go but he figured he should stay with it. He used the Army to pay for school and did get a degree in Criminal Justice but he decided to make the Army a career. He went into Ranger school by the team he reached 22 and saw action throughout the middle east. Because of his dislikes of heights Jack never got his wings to be an Airborne Ranger. But that was fine by him. He was looking to apply to a SFG but thinks changed when he turned 26.

His squad had orders to hold an airfield in Afghanistan from Op4 forces. It was suppose to be a walk in the park for this unit but it seemed as if the whole country decided to try and kill them. 3 men had initially gone down in the first surprise wave. They called for a Medievac, which came but after 3 wounded men boarded and bugged out a SAM missile was shot at the Blackhawk. There were no survivors. Air support had been called for danger close fire missions but the Op4 kept coming. They must have fought for at least 32 hours before Mechanized Infantry showed up in their APCs. By the end of it all Jack grew tired, he was even shot in the chest but by the powers that be he lived. Jack decided it was probably time for him to get out.

He moved back to his hometown and tried to continue to work on his farm. Jack would occasionally wake up screaming like he was still in Afghanistan but he learned to control it. All that mattered is that he was home and nothing could destroy that.

Then the infection came...

Jericho-941 9mm Handgun
The Jericho was the first handgun that Jack had ever owned. Its trusty and relaible. Something that is sorely needed at this day and age. He carries 3 magazines of 16 for this 9mm powerhouse.

M1A SAGE EBR
The M1A SAGE EBR is the civilian variant of the EBR he carried around while he was in the Rangers. This weapon is very accurate and has lethal stopping power. Jack can hit a quarter at 300 yards with this guy no problem. This weapon platform has been confrmed to be effective at 2.5 miles. Although Jack isn't that good. He carries 4 mags of 20 rounds of 7.62mm

Cold Steel Recon1 Tanto
The trusty knife he carried while in the Service. Simple and easy to use. Although not the perfect survival knife it still has its uses. The tanto design makes piercing smooth as butter. Great for those quiet kills.

Gerber Downrange Tomahawk
Another item he carried in the Army. This Tomahawk is a multifunction tool. It has a hammer back end as well as a crowbar built into the handle to pry things open. This is his weapon of choice when knocking down a door or facing a wave of infected.

So begins...

It seemed to be a normal day for Jack. He woke up in his home in solitude, well there was his dog, Frost, and with all the conversations that Jack had with Frost you'd think the husky could talk back. He worked out, showered, geared up and grabbed an apple to eat as he went through his daily routine. It did not exactly happen like this every morning but Jack tried to keep his life normal. In full honesty, Jack's life could never truly go back to normal. Not since he got his PTSD from the Sandbox. But Jack would be damned if he didn't at least try. He saw too many former operatives give up with their lives after their service. Jack was determined not to be one of them. If anything he wanted to help others with their PTSD as well, helping made it as if Jack didn't know he had it. But it always came back. Not like he had much of a choice.

Since he lived on the family farm Jack had a lot to do. He was really the only one working on it because his parents passed away around the same time as the botched airport mission. Natural causes too, nothing dramatic. Just his mom went first from heart failure and then his dad went a few weeks later. Interesting how that all played out. His younger sister was in England for some studies abroad thing. So that left the farm to Jack and Frost. Together they were "Jack Frost" besides being the dumbest pun you would ever hear, they were still best friends.

Jack had to go make a delivery in town, he hated making Frost wait in the truck bed so Jack told him to watch the property. Frost pretty much nodded his head and sat on the porch in full sentinel mode. Jack grabbed a big ole' bone from the truck bed and threw it at Frost,"Stop being so serious!" Frost went to work on his bone as Jack jumped in the Chevy and made way to town, after turning on some country music of course.

Jack pulled up to the small store and couldn't help but notice how quiet everything was. Maybe it was a holiday? Jack pulled his pistol out of his IWB holster and set it inside the glove compartment. He didn't need a gun where he was going. He jumped out of the cab and went to the back of his truck bed and grabbed a box, he hoisted it to his shoulder and started walking for the entrance of the small store. Jack walked in and found the owner, Chuck. ""Special delivery for a special redneck!" Jack winked at the man and set the box down on the table. The older gentleman looked at Jack and grinned but before he could say anything there was a loud crashing sound outside of the store. Ceasing the would be conversation both men ran outside to find the source of the sound. A car was found with its entire front crumpled around a telephone pole. Jack ran up and ordered Chuck to call 911. Jack found the driver unconscious, a mid-20 year old girl covered in blood. Jack checked her pulse when all of the sudden he was tackled to the ground. Getting over the initial shock was a boy about the same age with a nasty gash on his neck making a scream that sounded inhuman. Jack held the boy's shoulders back and was trying to yell some sense into him. The girl in the driver's seat started moving around and she made a scream as well. Were these two on drugs?

The boy kept snapping his jaw at Jack, as if he was going to bite him. "LAY OFF THE BATH SALTS!" Jack yelled as he shoved the torso with his left hand and swung with his right. Knocking the boy off of him, Jack scrambled to his feet and looked over towards the store and saw something that he wasn't sure he was really seeing. Chuck was on the ground with the driver crouched over him, making chewing sounds. There was two others as well, all doing the same to Chuck. Then it hit Jack, these crazy druggies were eating Chuck! Before he could respond the boy was on his feet about to make a charge at Jack. Jack swept the boys legs out from under him and made his way to his truck. Reaching the truck he grabbed his handgun and turned around. As he turned around he met the boy who was determined to start chewing on Jack. Jack shot from the hip and hit the boy in the left shoulder. The shock of the shot pushed him back a little but the little punk was still snarling and coming back at Jack for more. Jack shot another round at the chest and watched him go down. Then suddenly he found himself in Afghanistan again, all suited and booted to take an airport. Jack shook his head to clear the image and found the driver and the other two running at Jack. He aimed the front sight at the lead, the driver, and squeezed. He shot her leg and she dropped. Jack did the same to the others but they kept crawling at him. Jack decided it was best to leave and call the cops, as he turned to jump in the truck the druggie boy grabbed Jacks left arm and took a big bite of his forearm.

Jack screamed in pain and fired the pistol at the temple of the boy. Jack's forearm burned and he wanted to take care of it but not now. He jumped in the truck and floored the gas. The truck lurched away as Jack started to lose consciousness. He drove just close to a mile before darkness over came him, no matter how hard he fought it still happened.

After Infection

Jack woke up and found the world upside down with the faint sound of Florida Georgia Line playing in the background. Shaking his head he tried to figure out where he was. Well, who he was. He couldnt remember anything. But all he knew was that he was upside down in a truck. A very busted up truck. He crashed, obviously. But how? Jack started to pull himself out of the truck as he noticed his surrounds looked like a warzone. There was smoke rising from places, buildings burned, trash littered throughout the streets. He looked in his truck for answers because right now he was straight up confused. He found a pistol with two mags, a cell phone, a wallet and a key ring. He would have investigated these things closer but Jack saw something out in the distance...

Ivy stood out in the middle of the street, her chest heaving as she attempted to catch her breath. Her right hand had a death grip upon the crowbar while her left ran back through her hair. She didn't notice until that moment that she was trembling. She allowed her gaze to fall towards her hand. She quickly clenched it, at the same time closing her eyes tight, whispering to herself, "Calm down... You're fine... You're fine!" She didn't know what was going on with her. If she had to memory it'd be a panic attack partially induced by her PTSD, but how was she supposed to know that. She needed to medicine, but again she had no idea. All she thought was she was panicking from whatever was going on.

Her attention drifted from her trembling hands when she saw a blonde, dressed like a waitress... Well that's what she thought, it was hard to tell under all the blood. The blonde walked along the road, seemingly normal. Ivy didn't want to take her chances just yet, but she brought the crowbar up to hold like a baseball bat, watching the girl intently. She made sure not to make her own presence known, not until she knew what this blonde was. Zombie... Well she'd kill her but if she wasn't? Then maybe it'd be best if they stuck together.

Before Ivy got a chance to gauge the woman, another came riding through the smoke on a bicycle. She assumed it was a safe bet that that girl was normal, after all she was riding a bicycle. Apparently the girl didn't see the blonde because she wiped out in quite a painful landing. Ivy began to walk towards the 2. She wanted to make sure the girl was ok. She was still too far away to hear what the one from the bicycle said to the other, but talking is a good sign.

As she reached the center of the street, Ivy was looking around. The smoke seemed to part temporarily. It was just enough for her to see a crashed truck in the distance. Nothing out of the ordinary... At least here. Almost every car on the road was wrecked or something. But what did happen to catch her attention was when she saw something get out of the truck. Ivy figured if that was another one of those things she'd take it out stealthily, then she'd at least be able to kill it without issue.

Ivy gripped the crowbar tight in her right hand as she ran towards the figure. It didn't take her long to close in on the figure. As she got closer she sped up, running at full speed. She opened her arms to grab it and tackle it to the ground. Once Ivy had it down, she quickly moved on top of it, straddling his torso with her knees holding down either arm. In a quick movement both hands grasped the crowbar as she lifted it above her head, preparing to slam it down on his head. But then she heard something, almost like he was talking to her without his lips moving. It was like she could read his thoughts. Thoughts!?

Oh my god he's not one of them! Ivy gasped, dropping the crowbar beside them. She brought her hands up to cover her mouth. "I'm... I'm so sorry. I thought you were one of them." She shifted back to get her knees off of his arms, then pushed off the ground until she was standing. She then offered him her hand to help him up, "My god... Are you ok?... I'm so so sorry."

There was something seriously wrong with her. She could tell from the amount of blood on her, and the internal gut feeling of something being wrong. She had been standing for quite some time, but had decided to move a little further down the street a ways, stopping and standing still once more as she felt something wet dripping down the back of her neck. She reaches back tentatively, feeling around her hairline until she felt the source, a gash at least the length of her thumb. It should hurt. Yet she can't feel it. At all. Now she knows that something is incredibly wrong.

Shock maybe?

Probably, she wipes the blood on the front of her apron, drawing her attention quickly to the actual appearance of her clothes. Apron, skirt, and blouse, all in various shades of puke yellow, white, and gray. What a gross mixture of color. She notices a couple of straws sticking out of one of the apron pockets. So, at least that's one mystery solved, shes a waitress somewhere by the looks of the uniform. Probably somewhere close since she hasn't been walking that long. Unfortunately the uniform didn't have a nametag - why wouldn't she have a name-tag...unless it fell off. Jeeze, she just wishes she could remember something. Anything.

She digs in the apron pockets. Change, balled up trash, empty candy wrappers - Aha! Relief washes over her at the sight of the tiny metallic nameplate. A welcoming sight. She flips it to the side that says 'Hello my name is...'

"Gracie Palmer." She reads, hoping the name will tug something else from her brain. Maybe an address, or a reason for all the blood. Nothing...besides an awful amount of grief. Something else washed over her then, panic and maybe a little confusion, as well as some other emotion she can't identify; it feels distant, like its there but hidden. These feelings are not her own. They are coming from outside of her, from different sources. They alike to water waves, rolling over her skin, surrounding her in these feelings that are not her own. She breaths sharply, overwhelmed all at once by the intensity.

Gracie barely turns her head just as a bike comes whirling from the thick smoke, Gracie winces as these foreign feelings invade her again. Freezing her in place while the girl skids to avoid her, the girl on the bike meeting the ground in a rush. Gracie places a hand, ever so carefully against her head where a throbbing has begun. Its not painful, but it isn't pleasant non-the-less.

"Your not going to eat me are you?" Asks the girl; Gracie can almost swear she feels the emotion behind the question radiating off the girl to bite at Gracie. So sharp and clear, she could almost mistake it for her own sense of relief. Gracie meets her eyes, confused. No, she thinks, realizes after a second shes just staring at the girl."No," Gracie answers."I'm not going to eat you." She bites her inner cheek, feeling nothing as her teeth sink deeper than intended into the delicate inner skin. Blood wells up there, the thick taste of it bathing her tongue. Disgust works its way through her, but most of all she worries about the girl before her.

At least someone else is here, alive, and normal as far as she can tell.

Movement and sound catches her attention, the distant wreck she had seen drawing her attention once again. Earlier she had seen it and started moving towards it, as if in a trance. Shes still too far away, the smoke still irritating her eyes. She squints, the shapes turning human.

She almost calls out, almost, until she remembers how bad that could be. Empty streets, blood, talk of people eating each other. Not exactly a safe situation. Gracie pales visibly, hands shaking, shes taking a few steps away from the girl. Would it be wrong to leave her there? Would she have any other choice besides to run if they did end up being dangerous? Her heart pleads with her to say yes, but her gut is telling her otherwise. She owes nothing to the stranger at her feet. All she knows is it would be morally wrong.

We would have been attacked already... Gracie thinks. Fighting against her instincts she looks back at the girl, and gives a soft, unsure smile. A weak attempt to seem unafraid. "I don't think this road is very safe to stay on..." Her lips tremble, tone wavering towards unsure. "Should we try and talk to them?" Gracie motions to the people.

"Normally, sweetheart... You'd have to buy me dinner first..." Well at least he has a sense of humor. Ivy rolled her eyes slightly at the typical male comment. As he stood up she realize not only he towered over her but he seemed... Familiar somehow. But obviously she had no idea. Her memories were completely gone. She'd be lying if she said he wasn't an attractive man but that's not what plagued her mind. She couldn't help but try to scratch the recesses of her brain to figure out who he is. Ivy was lost in her thoughts until he voice shook her back. "The name is... Well... I'm not exactly sure. But I gotta tell you something, I don't think I have ever had anyone come into my life in such an explosive manner." Ivy couldn't help but chuckle at the comment while smiling apologetically and scratching the back of her head. "Wait... one of them? Like a crazy ex?"

Ivy rolled her eyes, placing her hands on her hips while chuckling. "Really? That's what you take from that?" She shifted her weight to her left leg which caused her hip to pop slightly. "It's obvious you haven't encountered... Well I don't know what they are. Crazed, maybe?" She then did a double take realizing what he said before the crazy ex comment. "You have no memories either?" Weird. But at least she knew she wasn't alone. But then again, it'd be hell trying to figure out how she knows him. But then she had an idea. "I can tell you who you are."

Ivy set her crowbar down in the bed of the very crashed truck that the man had stumbled out of. She then walked back over towards the man. He seemed so much taller when she stood close to him. But she didn't wait to ask permission before slipping her right hand into his front left pocket. Empty. To anyone else this may be seriously invading someone's personal bubble, but she felt like however she knew him it was well enough to where this wouldn't be weird. Plus, he was just flirting with her. Ivy didn't know a man that'd argue about a woman's hand in his pocket. She then stuck her left hand into his front right pocket. Empty again. She took a step closer to him, moving her right hand around him to check his back pockets. "And I may not have any memories... But one thing I'm certain of is no crazy ex's." She grinned when she felt the wallet in his back right pocket. She pulled it out and took a slight step back from him. "It'd take a special kind of guy to handle me." Ivy then opened the mans wallet to his I.D. "Jack Dukes." She flipped the wallet around to show him.

That also reminded her that she hadn't checked to see who she was. So before Jack got the pleasure of searching her, Ivy patted her own pockets. Her jeans were empty but then she checked her leather vest pockets, feeling something in the left interior pocket. She reached in, grabbing the contents and pulling them out. Ah ha, my wallet! Opening the wallet, she at first read her I.D. "Ivy Archer... 26." Ivy then started filing through everything else. Some cash, pointless credit cards, then there was something about the Marine Corps. Was I a Marine? It wouldn't surprise her. Somehow she was strong enough to tackle the giant before her without any trouble. As she went to close her wallet, a small piece of paper fell out. She leaned over grabbing it off the ground. It had written in very sloppy handwriting 'Ivy & Jack 2027'. This caused her to furrow her brows while flipping the paper over. No not paper... picture. Ivy hasn't looked in a mirror since she lost her memory but she could only assume that she was the redhead in the picture standing next to a younger version of the male before her. In the picture his arm was draped across her shoulders, they both were laughing and half covered in mud.

Ivy had a very quick and brief flash of a memory, just of the moment that picture was taken. But it faded as quickly as it came. She couldn't help but smile at the picture. She then took a step towards Jack, holding it out towards him. "Apparently, we know each other Mr. Dukes." Ivy made her way back over to the trunk, grabbing her crowbar and slipping it through a belt loop in her jeans. "Looks like this probably wasn't the first time I tackled you." She smirked towards Jack before letting her gaze shift towards the blondes once again. "I think we should go see if they're ok."

Gracie stared at the girl for a while longer, wondering if the shock of it all had just silenced her. Deciding not to bother with comforting her, she turns to look at the strangers down the way. Two options left, face the strangers or turn tail and run off alone. There are plenty of reasons that option two would be a bad idea. For one, shes weaponless and covered in blood with no idea of what exactly has happened. Another thing is she has no idea who she is, besides a name and the faintest clue that she worked at a Diner. It honestly wouldn't make sense to go off on her own now, she'll just have to trust in herself more.

She holds her head high as she walks, trying to look more confident and stronger than she really is. "I come in peace!" She calls, perhaps a bit too loudly as she nears. Hands held up in a surrendering manner. Her joke falls a little flat, the nervousness in her voice radiating like waves. Not that she has anything to surrender to. If they couldn't tell by the slight shake in her voice, then they would definitely be able to tell from the sweat and fine trembling in her hands that there is most certainly nothing about her that's confident in this situation. Her eyes are drawn towards the Crowbar at the woman's belt, the shiny metal daunting enough without it being in her hands.

Gracie bites her inner lip, tasting blood before she realizes she's bitten too hard again. But she can't feel it, which is somewhat worrying. Perhaps its from the shock. But she doesn't really feel like that's it. "Um..." She stops and runs a hand through her tangled mess of hair. "You uh, wouldn't happen to know what's going on here?" She motions broadly. She draws her arms back in seconds later. Anxiously peeling the dried blood from her skin. Gross.

"You were bitten too, I can feel the blood from it." Damian was smirking, and the comment only made him smirk more. It made so much sense to Sawyer, looking back on it now. But the way the man was grinning made him uneasy. "Well aren't you a troublesome little girl..." He spoked to the girl as he paced around before turning his attention to Sawyer. "It's a bit unwise to make threats towards someone who holds the secrets you know nothing about... Even worse when you have no idea what they're capable of..."

Damian began to stand tall before Sawyer, if anything growing more devilish. It was only a matter of time before he felt an excruciating pain flare up throughout his entire body. The growing torment causing his body to convulse and crumple him to his knees. "Here's the thing... I know more about what's going on than the two of you and I also know both of your secrets. Go ahead and expose me if you like but you'll be coming along with me going through what I just did to nother girl like us. Though i imagine they'd be much more horrid to their precious general for his 'betrayal' to the human cause... "Quite honestly I think the pretty one would get the quickest death but if you want to avoid any of that... You're going to have to keep me around. So what do you say?""

Sawyer couldn't help but chuckle as he held his abdomen. Damian released his grip from them to ask, "Feel like making a deal with the devil?" Sawyer wasn't going to amuse Orion's superiority complex. The man thought himself more powerful than he was and he needed to learn his place. He quickly shot up to his feet, shooting a hand out mid air towards Damian. Without touch, his force entrapped Damian's heart and yanked it towards him. Not enough to rip it from his chest, but enough to cause Damian's heart to beat irregularly as it forcefully presses against his ribcage. Simultaneously, Sawyer's other hand extends to again use his ability to tighten the man's esophagus.

Knox slowed closed the distance between him and Damian. "No... You know what I have elected to tell you. I do not have to do anything. Keep you around or not, the moment you go to turn me or Florence, you also turn yourself in. And if I'm going down... I'm dragging you to hell with me." With a forceful shove, Sawyer pushed him away and released him.

Without another word, he made his way towards Florence. He could tell the woman was still having trouble. So he slipped one arm behind her knees while his other arm hooked around the woman's back. Gently sweeping her off her feet, he carries her back towards their vehicle. "You shouldn't strain yourself."

Ivy's attention was drawn towards a woman who neared them. She was covered in blood, but she raised her hands as if surrendering and said, "I come in peace!" Ivy could tell the girl was a little shaken up, they all were. So in attempts to make her feel more at ease, she shot the woman a friendly smile while motioning for her to join them. Obviously she wasn't a threat or one of those things she not too long ago encountered. She saw the woman's eyes drift to the crowbar that was hooked in her belt loop. "Oh... Hey. Don't worry, it's for protection that's all."

"Um... You uh, wouldn't happen to know what's going on here?" Ivy was taken by surprise slightly. Did it seem like she did know what was going on? She did have a weapon, but other than that, she had no idea. She laughed nervously, scratching her head. "Well...?" She let out a deep sigh. "I have no memories... Since before I woke up. And then I was ambushed by..." Ivy tried to think of words to describe what they were. "I honestly have no idea... They looked like humans that were just, crazed?"

Ivy shrugged her shoulder, resting a hand on the crowbar at her hip. "So... No I don't really know what's going on. " As she stood there she heard some rustling down a near by alleyway. She pivoted on her heels turning to look towards it. Her hand tightening on the crowbar. Despite her better judgement, she decided to make her way between the buildings. As Ivy looked down the corridor, she saw someone who seemed to be confused. "Hey! Are you ok?"

Bad choice. The person wasn't a person... It was one of those things. "Fuck..." She whispered under her breath. Ivy shouldn't have called out to it because now it was in a mad sprint towards her. But not just that one, Ivy heard more coming from deeper in the alley. She knew she couldn't fight them all. So as quick as she could, she pivoted and ran towards the handful of people. "Run... RUN!"
