The Unknown

The Unknown

Two teens run into each other on a dark and stormy night. One torn up by a Military General and the other being hunted down. Why, you may ask? Find out...

Somewhere in central New Mexico, Aaron ran from the large military compound as bullets whizzed past his head. Darting into the nearby trench, he glanced back to see if his pursuer has disappeared. He was way to close to civilization for Saul to continue the hunt. He blew his long black hair out of his eyes and he wondered if Saul had turned back. As rain began to fall, Aaron took his chance and jumped the fence separating the compound from the highway that lay 40 feet ahead of it. Running is fast has he cold in the rain, Aaron ignored the fact that it was pitch black outside and began to cross the highway. Holding the deep wounds on his arms and rubbing the ones on his legs, Aaron could only limp across the small two lane highway. Unfortunately for him, however, a large black Mercedes-Benz soared across the pavement with all of it's lights off. The driver, barely seeing Aaron in the night, stomped her foot onto the brakes, but she was too close. The car slammed into Aaron's side at about 25MPH. The force of the blow blew Aaron back 20 feet, flipping in the air and finally sliding to a holt onto the pavement, knocked unconscious by the blow.

Lia was freaking out at this point. She was trying really hard to make it to the first hotel on the stop in time and was still not safe from Jacob and his spies. And now she hits a random teenager on the street. She sighed, and knew that she couldn't leave him, dead or alive, in the street like this. He had to be a part of her plans now. Pulling out an umbrella, she stepped out into the rain and walked briskly, although worriedly, towards the teen. She took out a small flashlight from her jacket pocket and shined it onto the young man. His body was already cut up, but not from the car hit. He looked about 15; her age, and his wet brown hair lay matted over his eyes. She nudged him in the side with her booted foot, hoping to see a reaction. The teen moaned quietly, almost too quietly to hear, and twitched a hand. Sighing in relief, Lia slowly dragged the boy into the stolen car and used all of her feeble strength to push his 140 pound body into the back of the car. Closing the door, Lia turned the car back on and started for the Hotel.

Saul lowered his handgun and sighed in defeat. Turning back around, Saul re-entered the military complex as the night sky began to rain.
"Sir, he won't get far!" Colonel Sanders said, trying to cheer the General up. "This is the New Mexico wilderness, he will be dead in three days."
General Saul turned back to Sanders. "I don't want him dead, Sanders, I want him HERE!" Saul screamed at the General. "Send out....James."
Sanders opened his eyes in surprise. "James!?! He's a born bounty hunter, he would kill him before bringing him back here!"
"Not if he's paid enough. Offer him fifty grand. Make sure Aaron gets back alive."
"As you say sir....meanwhile, I think we should begin the research"
"Agreed. Commence the tests immediately. Use #1."

Jacob scanned the many television screens mounted in front of him, but no sign of Lia.
"She has to be there, Jacob, don't worry." murmured an apathetic Janet.
"But what if she isn't! She's the KEY, Janet."
Janet walked over to Jacob. She was a harsh women, standing at six feet tall and having a very diagonal haircut, accenting her navy blue hair. "I know, Jacob, I know. There isn't very many places she can go, besides, this is New Mexico! Just comb the desert."
Jacob pushed a hand through his prematurely gray hair. "I guess we can do that, but we shall see."
He stood up from the desk he was at. "Also, one of the stock cars was taken. I need you to track it. It might lead us to Lia."
Janet nodded. "I will."
