Damn! Pyrus thought. It was only a mages' shop. There were magical artifacts there, but no healing potions in sight. "I have to find medicine for Eric," he mumbled to himself. The memories surfaced again, but Pyrus repressed them. Suddenly, he spotted a hospital a few blocks away. Swooping in an open window, Pyrus snatched a bottle of blood clotter from a very suprised nurse, and made his exit. Now to find the others, he thought.

Alyss was tired of waiting around, "Blaze, can you fly with me on your back? We aren't getting anywhere and we are lost and I'm hungry." She said not trying to sound like she was whining.
"Yes, I can, all you had to do was ask." He said smiling and laid down on his belly, letting her climb onto his back.
Once she was on his back, he took off into the air. She screamed as they rose higher and higher into the air. Blaze smiled and leveled back out when they were high enough. "There they are." He said as he immediatly dove down towards the ground.
Again Alyss screamed and didn't stop until they were back on the ground. She climbed down, her brown hair in a mess. She breathed in fresh air, trying to catch her breath. They looked all looked worried, she stared at them and saw the boy laying in the middle, "Hey, is he alright?" She asked.

Pyrus flew back to the site where he had left Eric and the others. It seemed Archer and Doozie had already left to search, but Jake and Shade were watching over Eric. Out of the corner of his eye, Pyrus noticed a new human with her pet. For now, he thought, Eric is more important.
He landed by Eric's side and double checked that the bottle he had grabbed was the right one. It said blood clotter on it, so he was good.
"I've got the clotter," he said to Jake and Shade. "Now all we have to do is wait for Archer."
He turned to the newcomers. "Hello, my name is Pyrus, Eric's," he nodded to the body on the ground, "guardian. And you are?"

Archer sweeped over the pharmacy one more time. No clotter.
"Let's go." She said, putting blood thinner in her pocket.
"Ready, Doozie?" She asked. Doozie nodded on her shoulder.
"Let's beat my best time," She muttered, taking off. She sprinted like there was no tommorow. In a matter of second, she was at the end of the hall. She dashed madly through the streets, her feet barely touching the ground. Doozie held on tightly to her, gripping as hard as he could without hurting her. By the time she was about ten yards away,l her lungs were burning and her legs hurt. She skidded to a stop.
"There was no clotter," She panted, "Did anyone else get any?" She slipped the syringe out of her pocket.
"I got thinner as well, after we get the poison out, we need to get his blood moving again." She explained. She held them out, one item in each hand.

Alyss looked at pyrus and then at the other gardiens, 'so her's wasn't as strange as she thought.' "Hello Pyrus, I'm Alyss and this is Blaze. What happened here, I arrived and see a boy on the ground." She said looking at Eric, then at the others, 'were these the people she was supposed to be with? She guessed so since they all had gardians as well.' She waited patiently, she had shown up at a terrible time.

"I found some clotter, Archer," Pyrus said. "You'll need about 5 ml of it. Try to inject it into the main artery in his leg. It should take about twenty seconds to take effect. Then extract the blood jelly stuff, and use the thinner. We have one shot at this. Let's go!"

"Right," Archer muttered. "Thank god my mother was a nurse." She knelt down, sticking the syringe in the clotter, and waited for liquid to fill into the 5 ml mark. When she was sure it would work, she carefully slid it into Eric's leg. She desperately struggled to hold it steady. One tremble could end up killing him. She gently pushed the liquid into the artery, and then pulled it out. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, and waited anxiously for it to take effect, drumming her fingers on her thigh.
I hope this works... she thought. Doozie squeezed her shoulders comfortingly. When she was sure it had worked, she slid the syringe back into the artery, and waited for it to fill when she pressed. Like Pyrus had said, the syringe filled with a wierd gel substance, red tintied with purplish-green. She pumped out the gel onto the ground, and put the syringe back inl. She repeated this until there was nothing but bright crimson in the tube.

"Good job, Archer!" Pyrus cheered on from behind her. "Follow up with the thinner, to counteract the clotting agent." Pyrus' heart soared with hope: Eric would live! "After that," he continued, "My healing powers should be able to do the rest." He held his breath as Archer reached for the thinner. This better work.

Archer calmly took a deep breath, forcing herself to focus with everything she's got. She filled the syringe again, this time with thinner, and carefully slid it into his leg, feeling a slight resistance as she poked through the artery. Pushing down on the top with her thumb, she watched the liquid drain into Eric's body.
Once the syringe is empty, Archer slid the needle back out of Eric's leg, letting out a tiny sigh of relief.
"Did I do okay?" Archer asked, her eyes wide, and her teeth biting into her lip.

"You did great, Archer," Pyrus encouraged. "Now for the finishing touch." The Phoenix leaned over Eric's slightly bleeding leg and let his tears fall onto the wound. Some smoke arose as the gash closed up. "All we can do now is wait."

Minutes passed, then hours. Dark thoughts passed through Pyrus' mind constantly. No matter how long he waited, he would not believe that Eric was dead. Some would call it denial, others determination. Finally, as all seemed lost, Eric suddenly sat up, gasping for air.

"What the h**l happened?"

Archer jumped as Eric suddenly sat up.
"You're alive!" She shouted, grinning so hard her cheeks hurt, but not able to stop. Doozie had a snakey smile on his face.
"Don't hurt yourself, kid," He said gently, slithering down Archer's arm. "Keep your movements slow for a moment." Archer absentmindedly stroked Doozie, her fingerpads softly brushing his skin.
"You're okay," Archer said, still in a lot of shock. "I can't believe it." She smiled harder, then rubbed her cheeks to keep her face from freezing that way.

"Was it really that bad?" Eric asked. He looked towards Pyrus for some answers.
"Yeah," the flame bird replied. "That was one heck of a fever you had there. For a moment we thought that you weren't gonna make it!"
Eric shuddered as cold reality settled in. He soon forgot those morbid feelings as his stomach rumbled. "Can we get some food now that we killed that monster in there?" he asked. "I'm starving!"
