An agent in the Mythical Crimes Unit. A human of Afghan descent.
When on duty, Mina carries the standard issue service weapon and a combat knife, and she has been trained in some basic forms of magical resistance, per her human, non-magical status. She has been extensively trained in practical applications of martial arts, in the style of Krav Maga. Mina is also able to speak fluent Pashtu, Dari, and English.
Born in April of 1976 in Kabul, Afghanistan, and taken as a teenager into a St. Louis suburb, Mina's well-educated parents had emigrated upon the expansion of the Afghan civil war in 1992, choosing to raise their family in America instead. In America, the young woman who had been minimally educated in English quickly found herself ostracized in the public school system (where she was enrolled as a secondary school student to earn a high school diploma), as she worked to attain fluency in English. By the time she managed to graduate in 1996, she had obtained a working proficiency in the language, and begun to move out of her own isolated social circle, to the point where she successfully applied for college with an application essay entitled "Alienation".
Mina graduated from Brandeis University in 2000, and joined the Mythical Crimes Unit in 2002, making it her eighth year as part of the team. Over the years, her reputation as an agent has been established as the woman who gets things done with minimal casualties, the least fanfare, and with the least possible equipment. Effective and efficient, with a number of difficult cases in the basket. As far as personal life goes, she is single, with no pets or children, and her parents still live in the St. Louis area, one a physician and the other a computer engineer.
