Cole

Family Life:
Cole's immediate family includes his father, Aran (53), mother, Joan (50) and sister, Norah (26). Two years ago, Norah married Gabriel (30). About a month ago, the couple welcomed a baby girl, Ava, making Cole an uncle.

Cole is lucky to say that he has always been close with his family, especially when so many of his classmates have divorced parents or maybe even worse- parents who are together but having affairs. It's seems to be an unfortunately common trend in Manhattan and Cole is happy to say that his family has always been close with the usual squabbles here and there. Aran owns a finance company based out of Manhattan and Joan designs jewelry for Tiffany & Co. The Traverse Family has always done well, and Cole's life has always been fairly easy. He has attended exceptional schools and has always had the resources available to help him do well in his classes, and pursue any extracurricular activities he's interested in.

Cole was lucky to be born into wealth and it's something that his father reminds him of every day. You see, his father is an Indian immigrant who moved to the country when he was only sixteen-years-old, with no more than $50 in his pocket. He and his brother worked tirelessly to go to school and make a life for themselves, all while supporting their impoverished parents and three other siblings back in India. Because of his father's past, he made sure to instill a good work ethic into his two children.

There aren't any exceptionally exciting moments from Cole's past. He has great memories from family trips to exciting places like Costa Rica and the Swiss Alps, and more unfortunate moments like when his uncle passed away a few years back, but nothing extremely shocking. Cole's life has been fairly normal, yet good. He's generally happy with his life.

Academic Career:
Cole isn't the next Albert Einstein, but after having private tutors on hand for seventeen years, he's definitely smarter than most kids his age. He is a straight A student but it does take a good bit of studying for him to maintain that.

Future Plans:
Cole has already been recruited to NYU's Steinhardt school for music, so he plans to attend after he graduates Saint Jude's. Although he would love to do something big with his music, he knows how competitive the music world can be, so his realistic goal is to own his own music school one day.

Disposition

Image
Image
Personality:
Charming | Artistic | Personable | Accepting || Stubborn | Unorganized | Forgetful | Trusting

Many people would describe Cole as being friendly and approachable. He's easy to get along with and can strike up a conversation with almost anyone. He does his best not to judge people and tries to give everyone a fair chance at being his friend. These traits have allowed him to befriend people from many social groups and he's probably one of the few guys at Saint Jude's who doesn't really have beef with anyone. Cole tries to focus on positive things and relationships and likes to make an effort to be considerate of other people's feelings and opinions.

On the flip side, Cole's friendly persona often leads him to be too trusting of people. He likes to think that most people have as pure intentions as he, and even when he does realize that people are shady or dishonest, he likes to excuse the behavior as having a reason. He isn't stupid or naive, but prefers not to be involved in drama. He can sometimes be dismissive of people's anger or desire for revenge because of this. Being forgetful and unorganized are two of his flaws that probably go together, but his creativity seems to know no bounds and often lead to him being a messy person. His schoolwork normally comes in the form of crumbled up papers at the bottom of his book bag and if it wasn't for his housekeeper, his bedroom would look like a war zone.

Hobbies:
Cole's true passions lie in music. He's an expert guitar player, preferring acoustic over electric, but he's also well-versed on the piano, cello and drums. He has recently taken up composing his own songs and music. Beyond music, he enjoys seeing films, watching baseball with his father and hanging out with his friends.

Bad Habits:
Cole has a tendency to forget to answer people's texts. He would much rather talk to them on the phone, so he usually just calls people instead of responding and if he doesn't do that, there's a good chance that you're never getting a response. He also dislikes getting hair cuts and tends to grow his hair out until his mother forces him to get one. It's a bad habit that he's had since he was a kid.

The Upper East Side

It's Thursday, September 4th and for the students of Constance Billard School for Girls and Saint Jude's School for Boys, that means that school is back in session. Both schools are located only a couple of blocks away from each other in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the neighborhood where most of the students reside in.

Although today is the first day of the school year, academic classes are not in session until tomorrow. Today is the day of the "welcome assembly", where the upperclassmen of both schools will come to Constance Billard from 8:30 to 10:30, and the underclassmen from 10:30 to 12:30. The short day will allow the Head of School to welcome the students back, and address any changes that have occurred while the students were on break. Students will also have an opportunity to socialize with their friends and possibly new classmates, and introduce themselves to their teachers for the year. Textbooks will also be available for pickup.

Later that night, Annelise Walton will be hosting a back-to-school party for the students at the Elmo Restaurant & Lounge. All students, regardless of their social standing, are welcome to the event. A DJ, open bar and light snacks from the menu will be provided, as well as a photo shoot in the dining area to welcome everyone in.

It sounds like an easy and enjoyable day, but with a new anonymous blogger leaking gossip and rumors about the students on a blog, things are destined to be less than perfect.

Lance Cavendish

“Are you a Prince?”

“Wha-?” Another finger poked him in the stomach.

“You're a Prince right?”

The first finger poke, he thought he was dreaming. But the third hurt.

“Yes! Yes! I'm a Prince okay?” Lance answered exasperated, sliding back to sit up in bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. “How many times am I going to answer this question? Just so I can count it off these lines on the wall.”

“When you answer all my questions.” Skye laughed at the fictional lines Lance Cavendish was referring to but she was utterly determined.

“Can I have my tea first madam?”

“Matild is making it.”

“Ah, perfect! So!” Lance rubbed his hands together ready for the inquisition from the six year old half sister he never knew he had until seven days ago. “Are you a qualified information extractor or do you do this on the side? You know when school is out and such?”

“Have you met any Princesses?” Skye questioned, ignoring his quip. “REAL Princesses?”

Real Princesses . . . A fiery redhead flashed across his mind. Then a blonde, a brunette and another and another and . . . a purple haired Princess? Possibly.

“Plenty.” He replied, resting his hands on the back of his head.

“Are they like in the movies?”

“Nope.”

“What are they like?” She asked. “Can I meet one?”

“Sure. I'll introduce you one day.” Lance answered getting out of bed.

It was 7.30. Far too early. Six AM was usually his bedtime.

“Really?” Skye questioned zealously.

“Really.” He said pulling out the uniform he would wear today for this new school. Moving to raise Skye by the shoulder and leading her out of his room.

“But!-”

“Save something for tomorrow Sis.” Closing the door on her scrunched up face, Lance showered and headed out the door, ignoring his mothers attempt to wish him a good morning and what he guessed would be her first question: What he'd like for breakfast.

Lance had spent his whole life quite happily without a call, a letter, a single word from his mother. He didn't need her now. It only bewildered him, out of all the ways his father could have punished him, why this? Why send him to another continent? The question baffled him. The only good, if you could consider it that, Lance wasn't sure yet, was the half sister he never knew of. She badgered him since the day he arrived about his life. A small smile crept it's way up Lances lips as he walked towards the school. He couldn't find it in him self to dislike the small girl as he greatly disliked his mother. She wasn't satisfied with the answers he gave her until he agreed he was a Prince. Not true. But close enough. Well, his bloodline was better than the Queen's. That was saying something. He could trace his ancestry all the way back to William the Conqueror himself. Now entertaining Skye's questions amused him, except first thing in the morning.

Saint Jude's loomed. The nervousness Lance expected many people to suffer from when starting a new school, never materialised. Not surprising. He wasn't a nervous guy. He was far too self-assured. Plus, he was just one of those men who never found it difficult to fit in anywhere. That was more due to the fact, that other peoples opinion scares affected him.

Not many people were stood outside when he reached his destination. Following the few straddlers, Lance headed inside. Greeted by a packed scene. Lance slipped on a pair of Aviator shades, removing the black leather jacket, revealing the one side of his shirt that was undone taking a seat at the back of the room resting a leg on his knee. He scanned the hall. A group of far too good looking girls caught his attention for a moment but moved on quickly, glancing across the room. His hand coming up to straighten his already crooked tie only to further askew it.

A woman and a man he recognised stood at the front and centre. He only hoped he wouldn't be outed. No one here needed to know he was the Son of a Duke and a Marquis in his own right.

So these were his class mates . . .

If the three loud bangs on her door weren't enough to wake her up, the shrill voice of her fifteen-year-old sister did it. "Kasey! Mom told me to wake you up!" the younger girl shouted from behind the closed door. Kasey and Grace weren't particularly close, and the fact that she was now associated with having to face the dreaded first day back to Constance didn't make her any more likable.

She considered rolling over and trying to fall back to sleep, but her lack of response seemed enough for Grace to reason that she should to continue to rap the door.

"Jesus Christ, Grace! I'm awake, go away!" Kasey shouted as she unwillingly pulled herself into a sitting position on her bed.

In her mother's normally perfect-timed responses, she managed to butt into this conversation as well and like usual, place the blame on Kasey. "How many times have I told you not to use God's name in vein, Kasey?" her mother shouted, again from somewhere down the hallway. It seemed like unless company was over, the only conversation in the Griffin household came in the form of shouting and Kasey always was the center of it. She didn't fit in and she knew it.

The only good thing about today was that it was going to be the last first day she would ever have to deal with at Constance. After this year, she would be free. That idealization was enough for Kasey to drag herself off of her bed and get dressed. She had showered the night before, so tonight she only had to get dressed, brush out her lightly curled black hair and do her makeup. She chose a green and navy pleated skirt, plain white long-sleeved shirt, and black Dr. Marten boots for her outfit. A lot of the girls at Constance made an effort to dress their outfits up to stand out and draw attention to themselves, but Kasey wasn't in the mood for those games today. Besides, she always thought it was so desperate when the others did that. We get it. Your daddy lets you use his credit card and you like to buy expensive clothes, wear them to school and then cry to him when you get detention for breaking the dress code. She had vented about it to Cole on numerous occasions but she wasn't going to focus on that or those girls today. No, she had better things to do than to focus on those self-absorbed brats.

When she finished dressing, she slipped her phone into her signature Louboutin bag and left her room. She found her mother and sister seated at the kitchen island, both dining on bowls of fruit and cereal. Grace was only a sophomore, so she wouldn't be going into school for a few more hours, but it wasn't surprising to see her awake this early. She and their mother would probably relish the moment that Kasey was out of the house so they could go shopping or talk about boys, or as Kasey guessed, talk about how much they disliked her. Neither of the seated females looked up as Kasey entered and they spent a good two minutes in silence as Kasey shuffled around the kitchen, searching the cupboards for something she wanted to eat. Their personal chef only came for dinner, which was fine with Kasey, since she preferred a light breakfast. She eventually decided on an apple and said nothing as she headed for the elevator.

She was almost in the clear when her mother's voice broke the preferred silence. "Annelise's party is tonight, right dear? Grace is going with her girlfriends, so you can tag along with them if you want." Even though it had been years since she broke off her friendship with Annelise, Katherine, Kenna and Alexandra, her mother still thought that she would want to attend their big events. More than thought, she also was convinced that Kasey was friendless since losing those girls. She wouldn't acknowledge any of the other people she brought home as being real friends, besides Cole, really. It was typical of her mother, though, and Kasey just rolled her eyes and continued out of the apartment. She would hear about how disrespectful she was later, but for now, she just needed to get out of that house.

Her walk to school was short and uneventful, and luckily, by the time she got there, everyone was already moving inside of the school. She wasn't in the mood to stand around in the courtyard and socialize, but even if she didn't have to do that, she knew she needed to find Cole before the assembly began. As she blended into the slowly-moving crowd and entered the building, she pulled out her phone and sent him a message, which was quickly replied to.

To: Cole Traverse
Tell me you're here already.

From: Cole Traverse
I'll be there in 2 minutes. Stopped to get breakfast.

Two minutes in a school filled with people that she mainly disliked would probably seem like two years, but Kasey figured that she could survive. Unlike many of her classmates, she didn't waste time socializing in the hallway. She made her way straight to the auditorium, but even her direct path didn't stop her from passing "the plastics", as she liked to call them. It made sense, though. Annelise, Katherine and Alexandra but Regina, Karen and Gretchen to shame. They were the realest "mean girls" that you could find and Kasey scrunched her nose in disgust as she watched them stroll through the hall as if they owned the place. What was probably even worse, was how their peers gawked at them as if they really did own the place. Pathetic...

“We’re going to Constance yeah?” Ben asked turning down the street.

“Yeah.” Josh was fiddling around with the radio settings hitting nothing but random static or annoying advertisements when he glanced up at the clock. “It's almost starting.”

“Did not think we took that long.” The news would have surprised Benji if he had ever worried about showing up to anything on time. It also would have surprised him if he hadn’t stopped at a near by Dunkin Donuts to grab caramel mocha iced coffee, which in hindsight was not the best idea seeing as he devoured it in mere seconds. The only thing that would have genuinely shocked him was if they had arrived on time. “We’re right here. It’s no problem.” Benji said in his natural carefree way.

“You're not even in uniform yet and you're saying 'no problem.'”

“Oh yeah. Well I’ll do it as we walk. It won't be a problem, I’m a pro at this sort of crap.” One of Benjamin's specialties was the ability to get ready with extreme haste. Yes, he always looked disheveled but it was part of his charm or at least that's what he tells everyone and it works for the most part.

The street was only slightly crowded and the few people still piling into the school was sign enough that they made it with time to spare. Benji managed to get a nice spot only a couple cars away from the entrance. It was a slew of faces, some he recognized and others were a mystery. He locked the doors as the two walked up to the school and slid the keys into his pocket. Josh had already started is way to the front as Benji started buttoning up his shirt with his tie draped across his shoulder. He wasn’t one for the uniform but it was a simple enough to follow, or at least use as a guideline. After a few slings and a tug it he was at least presentable and with one last run through his hair made his way to the auditorium. Weaving in and out of random, and some familiar, faces he reached the auditorium doors where Josh was leaning up against. “About time. I thought I would die of old age before you made it.”

“I had to do my tie.” He smirked.

“Yeah, crooked.” Josh pointed out.

“Whatever let’s just get this over with.” He said as he walked through the doors, his voice carrying more so then he realized as several heads turned back to him. Luckily for him the lights were still on and things weren’t under way yet, although it wouldn’t be the first time he had interrupted an ongoing assembly. The two quickly found a seat Benji crossing his leg and leaning back with his eyes shut with the hopes of catching up on his sleep. Josh on the other hand was wide eyed and alert as he looked around for any other familiar faces.

The assembly started promptly at 8:30 in the morning. When Dr. Sarah Hutchinson, Constance's head of school, and Brian Mitchell, Saint Jude's head of school, took the stage, the crowd of students simmered down. Dr. Hutchinson greeted the crowd of students first. "Good morning, students," she said, her voice echoing through the large auditorium with the help of a headset microphone. In an almost equally loud volume, the sea of students returned the 'good morning' greeting, although their voices seemed more drone-like than the perky woman's.

"Dr. Mitchell and I hope that you all had a wonderful summer, and would like to welcome you back to school. We're excited for the 2014-2015 school year and hope that you all are as well. Before we get started with this morning's agenda, I would like to remind everyone that Miss Annelise Walton, one of your senior classmates, has been kind enough to offer to host a "welcome-back" party tonight for returning students. Although the event is not school-sponsored, we encourage you all to attend and reconnect after a long summer apart. Many of you have spent most of your academic lives together, but I would also like to give a warm welcome to our four new students who have joined the Constance Billard-Saint Jude's family this year. Mark Cane and Lance Cavendish were both chosen as promising students to graduate with us at Saint Jude's this spring, and Melissa Cane and Hana Lane were chosen to graduate with us at Constance Billard. As you are aware of, our application process is very selective so congratulations to these four on being accepted. Now, without further ado, Dr. Mitchell is going to outline our goals for this year and all of the wonderful changes that have been put into place over the summer."

The assembly lasted its scheduled two hours and the male head of school discussed everything from the newly updated weight rooms, cafeterias and libraries that had been added to the school, to the various study-abroad opportunities that the students would have. He ended the assembly with a reminder that students needed to pick up their textbook packages by the end of the day, if they hadn't already done so, and then dismissed the group.

Maria was still standing with Hana and Melissa. They were great people but she liked being with Mark a tad more. She never really would ever hurt anyones feelings by saying so but she kept it to herself and listened as they spoke about how they were. She had still the thought of the other day when her grandmother had her legs spread on the couch. It still freaked her out the thought.
"Yeah I guess we should go in." She walked in with them showing them the bunch of chairs and she down on one and looked around she couldn't see Cole or Mark anywhere and wondered where they could be. She hadn't really told anyone about her boyfriend because she didn't know how okay it would be she needed to ask Cole. She leaned towards Hana and smiled at them both. "So are you going then to the party tonight?"

Hana had spoke about it and now she wondered. She grabbed her cellphone out and picked Cole's number out of the list.

Cole Traverse
-Hey Babe are you planning on going to the party tonight? Let me know. Xoxo Maria- She sat in her spot looking at the teacher wondering what for different things were to happen next.

Kasey tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for Cole. His "two minutes" quickly turned into five, and soon the crowded hall emptied out. She could hear the voices of the school supervisors echoing behind the auditorium doors and even though she wasn't excited to sit through the assembly, she wished Cole would hurry up. She wasn't going to go sit alone, even if it was true that no one would probably even notice. She had abandoned her search for popularity years ago and had done well at ignoring people's opinions, but she wasn't comfortable with being the literal loner on the first day of senior year.

She heard him before she saw him. The front doors of the building creaked open and Cole, looking more formal than Kasey was used to, strolled in. He didn't seem bothered by the fact that he was almost ten minutes late for the assembly or that they were the last stragglers in the hallway. In his hands were a drink tray and two bags.

"Took you long enough," Kasey said bitterly as he approached.

His cheeky grin didn't falter though, and he tossed a brown paper bag into her arms. "Plain bagel with butter, and a coffee."

She examined the coffee cup that he had handed her lastly, and took a sip of the steaming beverage. "Black with t-"

Cole cut her off, shaking his head. "Yeah, yeah, black with two sugars, I know. Even if you don't want to give me credit for putting up with your shit, I'd think you'd be able to give credit for remembering how you take your coffee." He took Kasey's small smile as the closest thing he would get to gratitude and stepped past her, quietly opening the auditorium door and leading her inside.

There were a few empty seats in the back row, so they took the two closest to the aisle. Being able to eat breakfast made the assembly go quicker than normal, and even though Kasey was content with how the morning was playing out, Cole wished that one more girl was sitting with him. Aria, his girlfriend. Their relationship wasn't as public as most, since they had only began dating at the end of their junior year, but Cole wasn't trying to hide her. She was an amazing girl who was kind, intelligent and fun and while Kasey wasn't a big fan of her, Cole was.

When the assembly ended, the two were some of the first out of the school. "I'm coming over," Kasey informed him once they had reached the courtyard.

"Okay, but I'm inviting Maria over too."

"Ugh, invite those new girls too then. I need something to balance out her annoying energy," She knew that Maria was friendly with the two new students, Hana and Melissa, and even more than she didn't want to be around Maria, she didn't want to third wheel with her and Cole.

Cole was about to text Maria to find out where she was, but she beat him to it. He read her message and smiled, but pulled his phone closer to him when Kasey leaned in to read it. He doubted that Kasey would be willing to go to that party but if they were all going, she would have no choice but to come.

To: Aria
I'm down to go if you are ;). You and your friends should come to my place before. I'm heading over there rn so meet us there whenever you guys are ready.

His apartment building was no more than a ten minute walk at the casual pace that he and Kasey moved at. Neither of his parents were home when he got there, which he expected since they both worked full time. Annelise's party wasn't for another few hours, so the pair planned on watching as many movies as possible, ordering pizza and then, against Kasey's wishes, getting ready for the party. Cole hoped that Aria would show up sooner than the party, but he knew that she was close with her grandparents and may need to spend the day with him, or even with the new girls she had befriended over the summer.

Katherine smile became a bit more genuine when Lexi informed her that the girls were discussing how Hana didn't have a dress for the party. In her mind, it meant that they were gossiping about her lack of style and taste, and that was a catty, yet reassuring thought for her. She should have been grateful that Hana agreed to come and save her from being caught in a lie, and yet as she watched Annelise eagerly pull her upstairs to try on dresses, she wanted to kick Hana out. Styling people was Annie's forte. There was a large possibility that her major motive for wanting to get Hana ready was for her own personal enjoyment, but Katherine was against the idea of her friends even warming up to Hana a little bit.

"Hana is so ugly," Katherine said to Lexi, somewhat out of nowhere, once her best friend and step-sister had disappeared. "I don't know why or how you talked me into inviting her here, but hopefully these martinis start kicking in so I can pretend she doesn't exist," she continued, stirring her half-finished drink. She was on her third drink and was definitely already beginning to feel a buzz. Even though Katherine drank often (probably too often), she was thin enough that her tolerance was still fairly low. That didn't stop her from drinking more than she could tolerate though, but at least tonight, she wanted to still be conscious by the time the party started. Tonight was supposed to be fun, but also graceful. She didn't want to make a fool out of herself at the first major event of the school year, but if it happened, she knew she'd at least have Hana to blame.

"Do you think I should go up there? She's probably annoying Annie," Katherine asked, although she remained comfortably seated in her chair with her eyes still focused on her drink. She idly pulled out her phone and began to sift through social media. "I need to hook up with a cute guy tonight, but like, I honestly don't think there are any good looking guys on our level. Besides Cliff, but I know he's all yours," she looked up only to giggle slightly and wink at Lexi. Even though Katherine was exuberant enough as it was, the drinks were definitely helping to lift her mood up now. "What other guys even are there? Lex is... not my type." She had spoken to Kenna about her interest in him earlier, and planned on following the girl code by not pursuing him. Besides, even though he was attractive, he really wasn't her 'type'. "Benji is gross, Cole is old news, Josh isn't my type, and I feel like no one else is even relevant." She wasn't going to bring up the boy who had basically sexually assaulted Lexi that morning, even if he was more than good looking, and she didn't remember Mark Cane even existed. "Oh my God, Lexi, you should set me and Kenna up with some of Cliff's model friends tomorrow at his party. Are they all really hot too?" She knew that Lexi and Cliff were close, and had heard on various occasions that Lexi visited him at his shows and shoots, so she guessed that her friend must have been acquainted with some of the other models as well. Cliff was a good connection and with Lexi basically being his sister, she was bound to have some way to get them into that circle.

Maria looked at her cell phone and saw that Cole had replied back to the text she sent a few minutes ago. She was quite happy with the way their relationship was so far. It was going good and she was very proud she was able to say that. Maria had never really ever had a boyfriend before Cole and she was quite happy to say the least.
She read the text and texted back.

-Hey babe, sounds great. I don't know about Hana but I will see if i can talk Melissa into it. I would love to come over. Party sounds great talk soon. Xoxo Aria-

She finished the assembly and grabbed out her cell phone again looking if he had texted back. It didn't look like it she looked towards Melissa. "Seems like Hana ditched us. My boyfriend he invited us over to his apartment did you want to come with?" She pushed her grandmothers number and clicked text

Grandma
-Hey grams, boyfriend invited me and a friend over going there coming home to change and then going to a party wanted to let you know. Talk soon, Xoxo Maria-

She looked at Melissa and continued to walk towards her boyfriends apartment. She wondered if Melissa was following her she just wanted to see Cole. He was always nice to talk to and always had the best intentions. She wondered if Melissa was going to the party tonight. She got there and knocked on her boyfriends door waiting for an answer.

The promise of an open bar was the only reason why Kasey attended Annelise's party. She hated the hostess and her friends, and honestly, she wasn't going out of her way to make friends with the majority of the other party goers. Nearly all of them worshiped the popular girls and anyone who was blind enough to play into that trap was useless to her. She wanted nothing to do with them. For the past few years, she had had Cole as her best friend anyway, so it wasn't like she needed to reach out and make new friends. Now that he was dating Maria, Kasey was realizing that he couldn't be at her beck and call as much as she wanted. Her own relationship with Cole was strictly platonic, so it wasn't that she was jealous of how he acted with Maria, but she did sort of resent the fact that he was able to make relationships so freely. He was so open and easy going that emotional walls seemed nonexistent in his life. This was quite contrasting compared to Kasey.

She spent the majority of the party seated in one of the lounge nooks, alternating between socializing with Cole and Aria and a group of three girls that she could tolerate from her past year's English class. "Tolerate" was seeming to become a stretch, too, because as each word came out of the girls' mouths, Kasey's eyes searched a bit more frantically for Cole and Maria.

"Did you see Annelise's dress?" one of the girls chirped as shifted her position on the couch so she was leaning in towards them. Kasey didn't answer, and her lack of eye contact probably showed her disinterest.

"The back of it is gorgeous.. like to-die-for gorgeous," another one gushed.

"I know, I don't see how she'll be able to top that," the third jumped in. With each word, Kasey's patience slipped away. "And did you see Kenna Valoir's? It had to cost a fortune!" Without waiting for the other girls to agree, which they most certainly would, Kasey stood up and walked away. No explanation, no goodbye. She just left. They would probably be too busy gossiping about the girls or drunk to take offense to it, anyway.

It didn't take long for her to spot Cole, leaning against the bar with Aria at his side. The pair had spent most of their evening dancing, with an occasional break here and there to catch their breath and chat with Kasey. Cole felt the tension between Maria and Kasey (although the animosity pretty much only came from Kasey), so he did his best to keep them separated, while not ignoring either of them. Even if he knew that Kasey would be less than satisfied with how much time he had been dedicating to Maria, he didn't care very much. He had had a great evening so far with Maria and knew that even if he had spent more time with Kasey, she would still be complaining.

"I didn't know that you could dance like that!" he laughed as he and Maria settled down by the bar. "Do you want something to drink?" He knew that she was an experienced wine drinker, which was expected considering her family's legacy, but they weren't the type of people to go barhopping enough for him to know what she would order besides wine. He himself was never a huge partier. He preferred more intimate gatherings but an occasional big party didn't do him any harm. Besides, he knew by now that in the Upper East Side, almost every event was done big, so it was something he was used to.

Kasey had ordered a cosmopolitan and after receiving it, approached the pair. She looked Maria up and down, as if it was the first time she had seen her all night, and then relaxed her gaze. "I can't stand any of these dumb bimbos," she stated bitterly as she sipped her cocktail.

"We can always count on you to bring a little bit of sunshine to our conversation," Cole joked. "You just need to lighten up a little bit! Ari, have you ever had a problem with Annelise or any of those girls? He doubted she would have. Maria was the sweetest girl he had ever met. She was the type of girl who didn't seem to have a bad bone in her. It was certainly a breath of fresh air for Cole, who was so used to Kasey's negativity.

Maria "Aria" Montgomery
Outfit for the party

Maria had a lovely visit with Cole at his apartment. She decided since he said yes to go to the part from Analise or whatever he name was. She wasn't all to much in the names of the popular kids at school. Hana had invited her so she invited her boyfriend Cole.

She decided to go home and change. She decided to meet him there since she only lived a few blocks away from where the party was being held. SO she went home showered, and changed into a cheetah print dress. She then looked in the mirror, smiled and knew it looked great. She hoped to introduce Hana to her boyfriend.

She walked to the building and smiled and said hello to Cole. He walked in with her and they began to dance the night away.

They had danced so long and took small breaks. She looked at him as he spoke and she giggled. "I didn't know I could dance like that either. I'll have whatever you are having." She looked at him and watched as he went to the bar got the drinks and brought it back to her. She took a sip and looked at Kasey who had spoken about the bimbos here and listened to the question Cole asked.

"Yeah I don't really care I have my music thats what counts. And I have you." She smiled big at him and looked at her cellphone.

Hana Lane
-Hey Hana, I am at the party with Cole. I'd love you to meet him. Do you know where Melissa is ?Or Mark? Xoxo Maria-

"That was fun. We should do it again some time, I guess," Lex said distractedly as he zipped his pants back up, pecked the cute redhead on her cheek, and then smoothly waltzed out of the girls' bathroom. After his conversation with Hana, he needed a distraction. Others, those who would have observed the conversation from afar or simply glimpsed them, would have deemed that two friends had simply talked for a minute and then went their separate ways. After all, what loser stands on the wall or sits down at an Annelise Walton party? A pathetic loser, that's who. And well, the conversation hadn't ended well. He had anticipated actually catching up with Hana and making plans with his friend. Instead, the look she had given him...it had struck him some way, like she was trying to dissect something that wasn't there. Or, at least, if it was there he didn't need her figuring that out. So, the second she left, he found a pretty chick dressed in gold on the dance floor, whispered all the right words in her ear as they danced, and then whisked her off to the bathroom on the first floor. Slightly sweaty but now no longer thinking of the brunette he had parted ways with earlier, Lex had just checked his phone to see several texts, one in particular from Cliff. He could hardly fathom who could be important enough for Cliff to notice at a party when there were so many lovely options for the night, but sent a reply anyway.

To: Cliff
Let me guess: Jesus?

Annelise laughed at the drunken adoration on Katherine's face and shook her head with amusement, drinking more of the cool liquid. The bite of the alcohol was enough to remind her that she still couldn't up and leave her own party just yet. At least, not until she had danced for just a bit. Perhaps talked to Cliff again...She bit her lip at the thought. Would Lexi see into that? Would she be able to tell what Annelise was really doing? How would she react? It's a crowded lounge and a good number of hot guys, her mind told her. Plus, she's still bitching over Logan. No harm. Feeling a bit more reassured, she turned to Katherine. "She's fine. She probably needs to dance Logan out of her system. I'm going to go greet my subjects." She smiled once more to her friend before getting up and disappearing into the crowd, opting to find a back area to dance at. On the way, she had seen Kasey looking like the rejected bride of Dracula along with Cole and his little girlfriend. Annelise didn't really have a problem with Maria. She was just sweet, too sweet. No one was that sweet. And especially not hanging around the dark aura that was Kasey. She shot the bitch a sweet smile laced with enough frost to convey her dislike before slipping into the throng of dancers.

She didn't know how long it was that she had danced with a few of her Junior wannabes when her eyes fell upon Cliff's head in the distance. He was apparently sitting in one of the back lounges. Annelise swallowed down whatever...feeling she had, ran a finger through her hair, and was set to heading over when she finally noticed Alexandra's presence, and halted. The blank face would have seemed harmless to anyone who didn't know her. However, seeing her best friend with the guy she'd been pretty much in love with all these years reminded her that she was a horrible person and she really needed to back away. So, why was she frozen?

"Careful there, Annie. Your jealousy is showing," Lex said from behind her and Annelise tensed momentarily, hands clenched at her sides before turning to him a frosty smile.

"What the hell are you talking about?" She practically hissed, painting on the perfect picture of bitchy sweetness. But Alexander saw through her - had seen her the second she had stopped. They weren't close enough for Cliff and Lexi to see them, but damn it all, Annelise Walton had actually been obvious for a change and it was glorious!

"Oh, the very obvious signs of," he glanced back over where Cliff was before shooting her a devilish grin, "someone having a crush." If looks could kill, Alexander knew he would be down on the floor with a bunch of knives stuck in his face. Which he probably deserved considering no one could ever catch Annelise Walton in such a state and she was more than uncomfortable with it being him. But it was exhilarating, getting the jump on the girl who usually was ahead of everyone and everything.

"Say one word and I'll -" Lex cut her off before she could finish her threat.

"Yeah, yeah - get back at me with the fury of a thousand prom queens, I've heard it all before, Annie," he said with that ever present smirk that Annelise wanted more than anything to smack off. Before she could say another word, however, two of her followers approached them in a rush. At first, they hesitated after seeing the rather...angry expression on their queen's face, but she nodded gently and they approached her, leading her away from Lex. "Make it quick. I want a drink and one of you are getting it for me." The first one, Amber, spoke up. "It's your new friend, Hana, I think? Katherine's sister?" Annelise rolled her eyes at the obviously idiotic girl who believed she didn't know any of that. "Your point being?" Amber quickly added, "Well, I saw her with Logan and...well, I know when Logan's flirting with someone. I heard him talking about getting pizza - " "What?" It was loud enough to stop the three or four dancers near them, but the rest of the club didn't notice her outburst. The wheels began turning in Annelise's head before she shot Amber a sharp glare. "Then watch them. If they leave, you follow. Don't let them out of your sight." Amber frowned. "But what I wanted to enjoy the party." Annelise gave her the sweetest smile in the world while saying in her coldest tone, "Then you'll do whatever I say it takes to get an invitation to another. Now move!" Amber was gone lickity-split and soon, her friend was headed to the bar to get Annelise a drink. No longer wanting to dance nor talk to anyone, Annelise headed to one of the vacant lounges, tapping her foot anxiously on the ground before sending a text message of her own.

To: Alexandra
If you needed any other reason to finally get it through your head that your ex is scum, you should probably stay near your phone.
