" New York! Wow... Just leaving the house"
" Feeling Anxious #Ohno"
Click. Clack. Click.
My suitcase made that noise as it ran across the gravel. The school was a few blocks away from my house, but I could see it now. I reviewed the exterior one last time. The red bricks, and the endless graffiti. I hated the very though of that place. All of the drama in my life was temporarily gone. But somewhere deep in my mind I knew I had to return to that horrible, horrible place.
Happy thoughts.
I settled down on a bench thst was near the school, but not facing it. I ran everything over everything going on in my mind. I was going to New York. I quietly day-dreamed about The big apple until a familiar noise snapped me out of it. A text message. I pulled out my phone and It flashed 'Text from Steve Campbell' I clicked on it. It read:
'Get ready to meet Logan. The Limo arrives in five minutes."
I read this over a few times until I realised what it meant. I'm meeting this 'Logan' in the limo. I knew a few things about Logan. He was a boy, for sure. Atleast I didn't know of many girls called Logan. But then again I was called Dylan. This was confusing!
And 'he' was in the vacation.
Just like me.
I grabbed all my bags and brushed my hair. I needed to look presentable. I applied a layer of lip gloss and a lick of mascara.
I had a sudden lust for music. My ipod was stuffed neatly in my bag. I pulled it out and put on my favourite song.
"Left a good job in the city
Working for the man every night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleeping
Worrying 'bout the way things might have been
Big wheel, keep on turning
Proud Mary, keep on burning
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river.."
"Dylan!"
I saw two figures running towards me.
One was my mother. She was an ex-model and looked it too. She had pale icy blue eyes and light brown hair. I've always envied her clear, tanned complexion . She was born in Hungary. The other was my sister. She looked exactly like me, but she was two years my junior, Her name was Marney.
"What are you doing here?!" I asked surprised.
"Coming to say goodbye" Marney said in her usual sugar-sweet voice. She had this way of rooting inside people.
For a moment, no one said anything. We were just waiting.
Then it arrived.
I thought I was dreaming.
A sleek, black stretch limousine turned the corner. Marney gasped and my mom smiled and squeezed my hand.
This was it.
A silent tear rolled down my cheek as I hugged my sister and - to my surprise - my mother.
"Bye" the word was barely audible.
I gave my luggage to the chaffeur who carried it into the back of the limo. I took a deep breath and walked into the limo. I took in my surroundings. A blue light lit the limo. There was some soda. And in the corner- there was who i'm guessing is Logan. He was tall, much taller than me and his eyes stuck out to me most. They were dark brown. Almost like a cow's eyes , they told me he came from a tough background- but I could also tell he was sweet behind all that.
I wiped my last tear on my arm and stuck out my hand.
"I'm Dylan Willows"

"Are you Mr. Silverblood." The chauffeur asked, hesitantly eyeing Jacob. Turning Jacob nodded, "Yeah! That's er.. me." He was a bit too excited maybe, but he was going to be able to see the world...something he's always wanted to do. "I'll take those." The man said motioning to the guitar case and suitcase. Handing them to the man, he stood in front of the limo door and felt like one of those famous rock stars leaving a concert. Time to meet Alec. He thought as he opened the door and got in hesitantly looking around. "Jacob! Jacob!" He heard his sister yelling, running down the driveway. "Alice! I have to go!" He said from within the limo. Alic held her favorite stuffed bunny close to her. "Mr. Rabbit will take care of you." She said her blue eyes wide and innocent. She held it out to him, hoping he would take it. Smiling he took the worn blue object and sat it on his lap. "I'll take good care of him." Jacob said with a smile, not caring what Alec thought of this scene. She smiled and kissed him on the cheek before waving goodbye. He shut the limo door and the chauffeur drove away, with a sigh he turned and looked at the dirty blonde teen. "Hi... I'm Jacob..." He said offering a friendly smile.
"Sweeetie heres your medication. Dont forget to take it and please dont forget to call" she heard her moms worried tone and turned around "Mama you have nothing to worry about, ill be fine out there and ill remember my medication, I have timers set on my phone". She took the bag of medication and put it in her suitcase. Taking one more look around her room, she put her guitar case on her back and grabbed her two suitcases and purse, then followed her Mama downstairs. Dropping her things at the door she went into the living room to see her two older sisters, Misty and Ashley, sitting down on the couch watching some tv show. Jumping over the couch she landed in Mistys lap and gave her a hug hearing a umph come from her older sister. "Hey sweetie y'all ready and packed.Im so jealous of you and I hope you have tons of fun, bring us back something" Misty said as she gave her a hug. Rowan hug Misty then went and hugged Ashley "Yup all ready and packed.I think I remembered verything. You two be good while Im gone". Her two sisters chuckled and Rowan went back to the hallway.
Her phone chirped telling her she had a text, grabbing her phone from her purse she opened a text from a number she didnt recognize Your limo will be there in five, be ready. "Mama my ride will bere here soon" she said as she grabbed her things again. Her Mom came out from the kitchen and followed Rowan outside.
Rowan could hear a car coming down their long driveway, she was going to miss being here and around the horses but her parents told her she needed to go see the world. She knew that the tumor might grow back so this might be her only opportunity. The black limo appeared in front of her and a man in a suit got out of the drivers side and came over to her.
"Are you Miss Thompsan? I am Luey and ill be your driver" the man said to her and she nodded "Yeah im Rowan Thompsan". Luey then took her luggage, but she kept her guitar and purse. Giving her Mom a hug and kisses, she then got into the limo and settled into the back seat, her guiatar off to the side. Looking out the window "Goodbye home...hello world" she murmered then grabbed her black, acoustic guitar out of the case and started strumming it, wondering what the other kids would be like and if anyone would be riding with her.
Adrienne turned on her phone and went on Twitter. She decided to make a few last posts before she left her beloved Boston.
"about to leave the lovely Boston, MA... gonna have a blast, i hope!"
She looked herself over in the mirror, checked her hair, smoothed out her skirt, and reapplied her mascara. Her phone buzzed multiple times. They were to notify her about comments on her tweet, but there was one text message.
"Your limousine will be arriving at your school in fifteen minutes. Be there."
Fifteen minutes? That was enough time. She checked her cherry red suitcase, her tote bag, and her favorite bag (which her dad had bought her last Christmas) to make sure she had everything. Once she was completely satisfied with her things, she grabbed a cardigan (just in case- it was a kind of chilly day in Boston, even though it was summer and all). She found her dad in his study.
"Dad, I'm leaving now," she said. "Tell Amanda and Max I say bye, and also, I'll call you if anything goes wrong."
He glanced up and said, "Okay, be safe."
She strolled out with her luggage and walked to her school. It was one of those stereotypical fancy East Coast schools, all reddish-brown brick, polished wood, and black roof. She looked around the school and thought about the trip. Was it really a good idea to leave her brother alone with her strange dad and step-mom? She shook the thought from her mind and waited for the limo. She took out her phone again and texted her best friend Aimee "leaving boston! gonna miss ya girl" as she put a pair of aviator sunglasses on. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a sleek black limousine. It pulled up in front of her, and Adrienne's eyes widened. It was gorgeous. The chauffeur stepped out and smiled as he asked if he could take her suitcase. He opened the door for her and put her bags away. She got into the limo, where a beautiful girl was already sitting. She knew that she must be Dahlia. Adrienne smiled widely, not shy at all and said,
"I'm Adrienne. Adrienne Madison."
Her mom - "Don't go spending all your money in the first city."
Her dad - "Better not fall for any French boys now, ya hear?"
Her little brother - "Can you bring me a baby Godzilla?"
And her grandmother - "Just you have fun. Don't listen to them old coots."
She put all her things in the limo and waved goodbye. Taylin got in and watched her home shrink in the back window before turning to face the front and buckle.
"Get ready to start your vacation"
It said. He raised an eyebrow, this person was pretty mysterious. Some reason he it reminded him of Bruce Wayne. He did a last minute check, making sure he had everything. Seeing the limo pull up he smiled and walked forward. The chaeuffer opened the door and took his bags.He thought as he stepped in the sleek limo. this person must be rich! He thought to himself shutting the door behind him. He looked around and smiled, the limo all to himself. He looked down at his phone and tweeted:
Goodbye Texas! Hello New York! #Roadtrip
Turning his music up full blast he closed his eyes and started to doze. It was going to be a long ride after all he figured he would catch up on some Zzz's.
Walking down the hallway towards the kitchen, Chance passed the unoccupied bathroom mirror. Momentarily stopping to check himself out, he did a quick Elvis impersonation. He raised a single eyebrow and did a sort of jig, pointing at his reflection. "Thank ya; thank ya very much." Nodding approvingly, he continued down the hallway, into the kitchen. He made his way to the refrigerator, reaching into the freezer to retrieve his single travel item: A Milky Way candy bar. Resisting the urge to open it up on the spot, he shoved it in the center pocket of his hoodie and made his way outside.
Chance locked the door behind him before walking down the driveway, onto the sidewalk. He gazed around the small neighborhood, suddenly realizing it would be weeks before he saw this place again. Pondering this for a few seconds, he smirked. Awaiting the limo's arrival, Chance idly shifted the weight from his toes to the heels of his feet, checking both directions of the narrow street every so often. After another minute or so, he saw a lengthy, black vehicle round the corner a few blocks away. As the limo began approaching the front of Chance's house, he remembered someone telling him there was going to be someone else riding with him to the destination. He wondered who it would be, but his thoughts were quickly interrupted by the driver's door of the limo opening, and the chauffeur stepping out in front of Chance. He was a short, pudgy man with a long nose. When he spoke, he did so with a nasally, but soft voice. "Mr. Bennet, sir?"
"Mmmmhmm."
"Your belongings, sir?"
Chance tilted his head to the side before realizing what he meant. "Oh." He reached into the pocket of his hoodie and pulled out the candy bar, showing the man. "Right here." The chauffeur blinked at him a few times, obviously attempting to figure out whether Chance was being serious or not. After coming to a conclusion, he responded with a slight cough, "Right, er-- Well, then. Best be on our way." He goes to open the back door and gestures for Chance to enter. He nods in thanks and clambers inside the vehicle. "Wow", he says to himself as he settles into the leather seat, peering around the area. The lighting was blue, tinting everything, including the mini-fridge. Chance immediately helped himself to a Coca-Cola from inside the fridge as he felt the limo begin to move towards its next destination. He glanced out the window, watching as his home left his view, being replaced with the local community, which would eventually be replaced with the highway, which would eventually be replaced with... New York.
Keenan and Oskar are twins. You would guess that by looking at them. They are extremely close, and know what the other was thinking just by scanning the others face. They're inseprable and are never apart- thats their weak point. They break down and cry If the other isn't there.
"The limo is gonna be here in a few" Keenan shouted as he looked dow at his phone. It was another text from 'Steve Campbell'
"Get ready to meet Rowan. The limo arrives in five minutes"
They walked over to the nearest bus stop to the public school. Thats where they were going after the summer- To an actual public school. The fact is They've been homeschooled all their lives and this was very important to them. They weren't worried about the friendship side. They were popular within the surf crowd already, they were worried about the romance side. Neither Oskar nor Keenan has ever had a girlfriend, nevermind kissed a girl. That was a secret they could tell no one but eachother...
The Limo turned the corner
"Cool." they said in unison
They climbed into the limo. It hurt A tiny bit that their parents didn't say goodbye. But who cares... right? they were busy. Their mom was at a magazine and their father was erm... somewhere.
The limo was lit by a bright blue light and the windows were tinted navy. There was some soda. And what the hell was that.
A girl?!
She had long chocolate brown hair by what they could see
"Hello... I'm Keenan. This is Oskar"
Oskar gave a weak wave and a nervous smile.
Hope carefully put her clothes into her suitcase. She knew she should've done this two nights ago and least, and she should at least be rushing now. But she wasn't, and she was going to take her time. She had about three bags total, a large one that rolled, holding all her clothes, a slightly smaller matching one, that was filled with shoes, make-up, and hair products. Then the last one, that was more of a large purse, held her basic things like money, phone, ipod, ect. Her room was a peachy looking color, and it wasn't very large. Her bed took up most of it, and the leather bench that sat in front of it. The only other things were her dresser, a chair, two bedside tables, and everything else was random nick-nacks and wall hangers.
She'd finished packing then, zipping the bag closed, and exhaling a sigh. She couldn't hear much going on in the house, but that wasn't unusual. Somehow, very ungracefully, she managed to get her bags down the stairs and towards the front door. There she leaned against the wall, a bit tired from the lugging. From a door way, she could see her younger sister watching tv, oblivious to her sister getting ready to leave. Her parents weren't even there hugging her goodbye, but she wasn't complaining.
Eventually the sleek black limo rolled up in front of her house. She could feel her heart beat a little faster. "Mom, dad, I'm going now." She called. What she got back wasn't very loving, but you could say it got the job done. "Have a great time sweetie." her mom said, poking her head out of the kitchen. Her father walked around her, stepping into the hallway. "Yeah, bring me back something cool." he said, laughing a bit. Hope wasn't even bothered by the fact they weren't hugging and kissing her, telling her they'd miss her or anything. They'd already given her a good amount of money to shop while she was there, so she didn't really care.
Her sister then noticed she was leaving, and ran over. She looked a bit sad, probably because she'd be getting even less attention without Hope there. "Bye Hope.." she said, trailing off a bit. "Bye Dess." she said with half a smile. Her sister was named Destiny, Dess for short. Their parents picked odd names.. As she was turning to leave, Destiny lunged forward, embracing Hope a bit stiffly. She could tell she was really trying though. A small, heartfelt smile spread across her lips, and she hugged the little girl back.
And then, she was off. Into a whole new, world. What was this? a Disney movie? She thought to herself, excitedly running out to the limo. The driver took her bags, and she stepped in. She was the first there, but she was going to be meeting Catalina. What a pretty name. She relaxed into her seat, realizing she was finally going to have the time of her life.
"Your belongings please," A man said as he held out a hand.
Waleska nodded and smiled. She handed him most of her belongings except for her laptop case which had her laptop, her phone, and her iPod.
The man put her belongings in the back then smiled as Waleska searched her pocket and gave him a $10 bill. He opened the door for her and she waved to her family before sliding into the limo. She looked around the inside of the limo and jumped when the door closed beside her. This was amazing! The girl took her laptop out and began typing on it; she planned on keeping some kind of journal while she was there. She looked out the window, taking a long deep breath as the limo started away from her Georgia home and began to New York, the place that she would be going. New York....
Day 1: She typed out and thought about it hard and long. What should she write about in this? Finally after several moments of thinking, typing, editing, and re-reading this is what she came up with:
"New York, what is the possibility of actually winning a trip to New York. I hope it won't be a bad trip, I am nervous because I am so use to being in the country and seeing cows, goats, horses, and chickens near my house since we live near all these farms and thick patches of tress which you could consider them as a tiny forest. Anyways, never in my entire life did I think I would visit a huge city. I forgot to tell my friends that I was going but I guess at the moment it does not matter. At the moment I am going to New York, riding in a limo, and Oh! Drinks! Yeah this limo has soda; my family never let me drink soda even though I love it so much. My family is so healthy... Anyways this is going to be an amazing trip!"
Waleska grinned then saved what she has written up and closed her laptop. She then reached the mini fridge and got out a Sprite. She slowly returned to her seat and began to drink her sprite while she looked out the window and admired the beautiful passing scenery. She was so ready for all of this.
Alec sat with his father, waiting patiently outside on their front porch. His father put a hand on his shoulder and spoke to him, "It's going to be lonely without you.. But I really hope you have an amazing time alright?" he gave his son a sincere smile, and a pat on the back.
Alec looked back at him, and answered. "I'll miss you too dad. And thanks for letting me do this.."
His father smiled brightly, "Anything for you."
"You could always invite Natalie over," Alec suggested. That was his semi new girlfriend, of 8 months. She was very sweet and kind, and Alec liked her. His father nodded, he was probably already planning to invite her.
Alec only had one large suitcase, holding his clothes, books, and ipod. His phone rested in his back pocket, and he was pretty ready to go. He shifted his feet on the ground, looking at the nicely painted wood. He and his father had spent a lot of time working on the house together, and he realized he might miss all the simpleness of it, though the idea of hotels, girls, and amazing places didn't seem bad at all.
The limo pulled up moments later, and both of the men stood. His dad pulled him into a hug, and Alec returned the favor. "Bye Dad!" he said, as he turned and walked to the limo with his suitcase. His father said goodbye after him. The driver took the bag, and opened the door for him. As he was about to step in, he turned back to his house. He grinned widely, and waved. His father waved back, and stayed outside to watch the limo leave.
Alec lounged in the limo, the next stop was to pick up a boy named Jacob.
They arrived at his house shortly, and he watched as the blonde haired boy got in the limo. A girl Alec assumed to be his sister ran out, holding a bunny looking stuffed animal.
"Mr. Rabbit will take care of you." She said, handing it to him.
"I'll take good care of him." The guy who had to be Jacob said.
It was quite adorable, the whole scene. It made Alec wish he had a sibling, instead of being an only child.
"Hi... I'm Jacob..." He said, smiling.
Alec returned the smile, "Hi, I'm Alec." he reached out his hand, and shook Jacob's. "Was that you sister?" he asked, stilling smiling.
Suddenly a question popped into his head. "Ya think we'll have any more passengers?" He took a few sips of his water in silence.
Wonder if he plays any instruments..maybe we can find others and become a band on the trip? He thought to himself.
Looking out the window she saw it was very sunny out "Way different down here from where im from" she said looking back to the boys. She opened the mini fridge and grabbed a vitamin water "do ya want somethin to drink?" she asked as she pointed to the fridge. Taking out her phone she decided to update her twitter.
Tweets :
Been on the road for a little bit now...just stopped and picked up two passengers. Kinda nervous about the trip but excited also"
"Yes please" Keenan smiled warmly
"I'm fine thanks." Oskar said and started texting random people.
Keenan, being the confident one started talking.
"So, have you ever been to New York before?" He asked.
"We'll be picking up one more person. Then we'll be off to the airport." Logan rolled his eyes. "Great." And with that, he rolled the window up between him and the driver. He wasn't here to socialize. If he could get his way, he wouldn't be here at all. But he had been forced. So, he got to sit in the car and wait while it drove to the next house. Eventually the limo stopped and a blond girl got in, wiping tears off her face, and introduced herself. He was kind of surprised she even talked to him. He ignored her hand, not wanting to touch anyone. "Uh, hey. I'm Logan." He said, then avoided her gaze, not really comfortable socializing.
I turned her head to the side for a moment.
What had just happened?
I rolled my eyes and almost threw herself on a seat.
"If you don't want to talk I understand"
I pulled my iPod out of my bag once again and just let a random song come on.
"Someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so mean?"
I giggled inwardly. This song completely fitted my situation right now.
I was bored so I decided to write a diary, on my laptop, of things going on. My first entry is:
'Dear Diary.
Today has been great! The limo picked me up... that was cool. My sister and mom came to see me off. The only slightly bad bit was a few minutes ago. I met Logan. He hasn't been particularly nice to me, although he's only spoke to me once. There is a kind of awkwardness in the air... anyway I hope we'll make friends but that's not always the case.
Love,
Dill '
After a while I heard a noise and took one of my earplugs out.
"Excuse me, kids?" The driver's 'u' was extended.
I nodded.
"We're stopping for a restroom break. We're in New Jersey" I could tell he really needed to go- you know where.
I got out the limo and I scanned the location. It was a mall. From what I could see there is a Starbucks. I decide to go to Starbucks.
"Aren't you coming?" I ask, with a friendly smile hoping that I could at least get him to be nice to me.
"Aren't you coming?"
Logan looked up, startled to see a friendly look on her face despite his pushing her away. "Oh, uh, sure, okay." His voice was a bit gravelly due to his not using it much. He cleared his throat and then climbed out of the limo, stretching slightly, looking around, not sure what he was supposed to do now that he was out here. He looked over at Dylan, waiting for some sort of direction.
"Where do you wanna go?" she rocked on her heels and walked into the mall.
It was fairly big. To her right there was a starbucks. To her left, was a Forever 21
"We only have a little time but... yeah" She looked up at him and smiled.
"If we don't have any time, then Starbucks would probably be better. Just sayin'." He looked over to Dylan. "Doesn't much matter to me." He ran his fingers through his hair again, still feeling a bit awkward. He was no good at communication.
"Hello!" She smiled at the woman at the counter "Could I have Caramel Latte?"
the woman nodded. She motioned for Logan to ask the lady what he wanted. She sat down at the nearest table and waited. She decided to tweet:
"In starbucks! can't wait for my latte! ;)"
She put her phone down as Logan came to sit.

She quickly pushed Reese of the window sill and onto the floor. "Annebelle!," Reese exclaimed with a frown as he picked himself up" You know The doctor said I should joke around like this".
"Well as your sister I am allowed to," she said with a sly grin" now get dressed. Before mom and dad wake up".
Reese sighed heavily as he straightened out his sketches and shove it in his suitcase. He got dressed as fast as he could and tip-toed downstairs to the kitchen. There he saw his sister with a plate of pancakes. He eat his food quietly and when he was done, he slowly slid out of his seat and made his way to the door. "If you really think you're going to leave with out your pills, then you proved to be the biggest idiot on earth" Annebelle snickered and shook three clear, orange case next to his ear.
A look of disappointment grew onto His face as he reluctantly took the cases. He put two in his pocket and took one of the pills in the last case before shoving it into his other pocket. He swallowed the pill with disgust and glared at his sister."Don't look at me like that," She ordered"and if anything I'm helping you. You might go hulk on everyone if you don't take them. Now get out of here".
She opened the door for him. Reese picked up his luggage and walked to the side walk to see a limo coming his way. He put down his luggage and patted the lint of his cardigan. He felt his heart rate speed up as the chauffeur came out of the limo and opened the door for him. He nervously smiled as a thank you and stepped into the limo. He sat down uncomfortably in the large vehicle and quickly put on his headphones and turned on his music.
"Eh, sorry. I'm new to this. Have no real filter." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
The chauffeur extended his hand to shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you." he told her, smiling slightly at her obvious excitement. After they shook hands, he nodded curtly, "Would you please follow me." Dahlia nodded quickly and trailed closely behind him as he led her to one of the nearest exits. As soon as they went out the automatic sliding doors, Dahlia was met with the sight of a beautiful sleek, black, shining limousine. It was like nothing she had ever seen in Paia, her small Hawaiian hometown. The chauffeur opened the back door of the limo and took Dahlia's luggage in one hand, and held out the other hand for her to take as she stepped into the limo. Once she was in her seat, he closed the door and went to put away her bags before he got in the drivers seat. Dahlia looked around her in amazement. She had thought the outside of the limo was impressive, well, the inside was really something to behold. It was so posh, so luxurious, and even after putting a little more effort into what she wore than usual, she still felt out of place in the glamorous vehicle, which was probably fit for even the highest profile celebrities. She was completely busy just glimpsing around at all that it had to offer when the driver spoke, pulling her back into reality.
"As I'm sure you've been told, we're going to be driving to a nearby school to pick up a fellow contest-winner, Miss Adrienne Madison, before we head to New York." Dahlia smiled big and nodded, remembering the text she had received about it. Most of the winners were picked up from their schools, but since Dahlia lived out in Hawaii, she came by plane to Boston, which was where Adrienne resided.
Her heart flew in her chest as the limousine came into motion. Her smile grew uncontrollably as she looked out the window. It wasn't long before they arrived at a beautiful looking school building, so different than the kinds that were found in Hawaii. Just then, Dahlia noticed the girl who she guessed was Adrienne standing in front of the school. Dahlia watched as the chauffeur got out of the limo and took Adrienne's bags, just like he had done for her, and opened the door for the limo and let her in. The second that the girl was in the limo, she spotted Dahlia and smiled big, "I'm Adrienne. Adrienne Madison." she introduced herself. Dahlia returned smiled a bit more self consciously than the other girl and held out her hand to shake, "I'm Dahlia Cooley. Pleasure to meet you." After they shook hands, she reached up to brush some hair in front of her ear. She was certainly better than she was a few months ago when it came to the faint, but large scar that ran down her temple, left as a result of her surfing accident, but she still hadn't completely come to terms with it, and would hide it as much as she was able.
