Easy. Cause no one else here could be your Captain. On the open seas the Captain has to be the strongest aboard a vessel in order to protect those who agreed to support him as a crew.

More bravado. But perhaps she was being overly critical--the whisky helped there--because most if not all captains had their own fair share of confidence. It was a necessary part of being a Pirate Captain, the show. The dare. The absolute "only a crazy bugger would do this so I'm going to do it" attitude that gave people places in history. She knew she was strong, and her Haki told her that he had his own strengths, but was that just an illusion caused by his Haki or if, like many Pirate Captains, he'd eaten a Devil's Fruit?

"Prove it," she said, all business as she stood looking at him, but still speaking softly. This didn't need to be a big display, especially if she ended up joining his crew. "There's a little space out back where they used to have an area for outdoor games, it's just sand now. Spar with me, show me that you've got the iron in you to lead a crew to greatness, and I'll be your First Mate. I've got to warn you, though, once you have my loyalty, I keep it until you break faith. So I hope for your sake you intend to follow the Code."

Marcus woke to two things, first, was his cig burning a hole through his shirt "Shit!" was what he yelled, rather loudly as he brushed off the burning ember off of himself. The second thing was a girl walking away from him. It wasn't the fact that she was an albino, or that she looked way to young to be here in marina. It was the fact that she had tribal markings. He recognized them as soon as he saw them and regretted even remembering what part of his life was tied to them.

Memories flashed across his eyes....Him....stalking some one.......setting up his rifle....taking a shot....hearing the cry of a child...... He began to fallow the girl, manly out of curiosity, to were she had went. Hell he thought, If she's this young and hanging around the marine, she might be apart of a crew, a crew means work, and work means cash.

Marcus slung his rifle and grabbed the other pair of ores and began to row with the blond. He looked at the albino and felt a chill, she was some one he had seen, but were....He then saw the look on her face and noted she was scared. "Sorry if I scared you there, it mainly was reaction to getting shot at....and the look in my eyes was my haki" He lifted up his sleeve to reveal the symbol he had tattooed over the black mark, a rose. "Also, I did hit him, but it wasn't fatal, so they wont be on our asses like they will be when the find out one of their best snipers, newly retired, has gone pirate". He kept rowing. "So, if we are going to hijack a marine vessel, how are we going to do it?"

"Hell, give me 5 minutes and I could have all the guards taken care of..." they looked at him with a rather weird look. "I could use my knowledge and credentials, witch I prey are still accurate, and get them to reinforce the out post or something....Did you really think I would kill them?" he had stopped rowing and tilted his head "It would be a waste of good ammo, and these shells aint cheep to make." He kept up rowing and addressed the blond "So, what's the name of my new found business partner? and how much do I get payed?"

Zasha nodded. If that was what the captain wanted, it was what he'd get, but it seemed like a slipshod plan to her. True, it might keep them from getting farther to the top of the Marine's list of pirates they wanted to hunt down, but leaving them with just wounds might give them time to hurt someone when no one was paying attention. She'd do her best to keep them alive, but if they became serious threats to the lives of herself or her crew, all bets were off.

Moving forward, Zasha attacked the other four. Her blades glanced off of the first Marine's single sword, and with a twist she disarmed him and hit him in the head with the hilt. One down, three to go. The second and third were dispatched in a similar way, but the fourth proved a bit more skilled than the others. He parried her blows well, stronger in defense than he was in attack, giving her little opening to knock him out of the fight. Well, she was a pirate, so the gloves were coming off. A flurry of blows knocked him back a few steps, taking him off guard, and when his sword arm fell too far to the left she landed a spinning kick straight to his jaw. The unconscious Marines lay got a moment on the deck and then Zasha started tugging them off to throw them in the small rowboat, narrowly missing the doctor.

"Sorry about that," Zasha said as the boat rocked slightly with the added weight. With her Marines dispatched, she only had to wait for Captain Neggy to finish before she could take stock of their ship. She would have to check if there was any supplies or weapons on board they could use, if the ship needed any repairs, and make a list of what they would have to pick up, if anything, before heading to the open sea. It was likely that the ship was stocked at least for a week or so, but she couldn't leave the harbor without making sure. The sea was too harsh a mistress to leave such things to chance.

(*face palm*)

He couldn't help but race his eyebrow up and think Dumbass

Marcus nodded to the albino and began to climb aboard the ship, but instead of going strait up, he went to the left and ended up climbing up the side of the captains deck, going through the open window. He came face to face with 3 marines who were holding up in the room. He smiled, slung his rifle, and drew his sabre.

The first one was easy enough, simple block and kick to the groin and he was down. The second one ended up taking his hilt to his nose and crumpled to the floor. The third one was more of a challenge. It was when Marcus had sent the marine through the door to the captains room, leaving a slightly surprised blue on the other side, that this marine was a first mate. He walked out to join his new...captain outside on the deck. "Well, I got three, you said not to kill them, so their out cold and I only broke a single door."
He joined the captain in his fun with the rest of the marines and was strangely grinning the hole time.

Marile now found herself alone in a rickety row boat with 8 unconscious marines. Baffled by how quickly this day had gone crazy, she stood stunned for a bit.
A slow groan came from a man close to her foot, snapping her out of her daze. Looking around she did the only thing she could think of. She smashed the tow of her boot into the side of the man's temple, knocking him back to his unconscious state.
She could hear her fellow crew members happily beating up the other marines. But she sensed there were more people below deck, atlas 5 or 6.
Marlie knew she was of no help just sitting around waiting for everyone to be beaten. Neggy had told her not to get involved, but she could tell that the other 2 crew members were totally judging her for that. They all seemed to be babying her. It wasn't in her nature to fight, but that was going to have to change that if this was going to be her life for the near future.
With the thin rope that was attached to the bow of the row boat she tied it to the rail and hoisted her crews' belongings onto "their" new ship. Even if this didn't turn out well, she knew they weren't going to go back to where they came.
Sneaking into the room where she had seen the sniper first go she found the unconscious men, bloody and bruised from whatever he had done to them. It took all her might to drag all of their bodies to the edge and push them into the row boat with their fellow comrades.
Winded and heaving, Marlie reached for a sword that had fallen from one of the marines' bodies, and headed below deck

Contrary to what you'd think about Marlie's condition, her eyesight was actually stronger than the average person's, which was extremely rare for an albino. She lightly snuck down the ladder that lead to where the voices were coming from. Her dark clothing helped her blend in with the shadows.
Her extensive knowledge of the human anatomy led to her knowing where all the pressure points in the body where. She could faintly see a man guarding the door that she believed the people were in. Silently and undetected, she snuck up behind the marine ,whose back was towards her. With a tense pinch the large man's body was slumped against the wall.
Just as she was about to reach for the door handle, she was startled by a hand on her shoulder. "Kids these days, am I right?" came a snarky, familiar voice.

He groaned, “You guys took out almost all of'em!” He sighs, and looks to the last marine who appeared to be quivering. “You should get your buddies to shore, before we sail away.” He approached the man, and with a shove, sends him over the railing and into the water. Neggy caresses his neck, thinking deeply. “Alright, alright. Zasha, man the helm. This ship is different from most so instead of a wheel, there's a lever in there.” He jabs his thumb to a door just under what might be the cabin. “You know ships, so I don't have to explain. Marcus, get ready to unravel the sails, I'll get one side you get the other. Mar-” He glances around, going from serious to confused, “Where'd Marlie go?” He asks them, as if they'd know. “Below deck.” Nicholas breathed, he looks to the two, “Keep doing what I told ya, just wait a sec to reel in the anchor.” The Captain moves to the steps, and quickly descends them wondering where his cook was. “Marlie!” He shouts, it was dark and unlike his old friend he wasn't accustomed to it.

After stumbling a bit, and hearing the voice just slightly he strains his eyes, without any hesitation as soon as he saw a larger figure next to Marlie's he lashed out with a heavy left straight. His fist collided with the man's jaw; a grunt escaped his lips before lights out. Neggy breathed out, and approached his friend; he pats her on the head, “Oi. Don't go off on your own. I like how you have initiative, Marlie, but you're the most important member; you're the cook and doc. If we lost you, or you were out for the count for a while we'd be dead.” He flicks her forehead once after this, “That's why I don't want you fighting, not because I don't think you could kick some ass, but cause if you got yours kicked it wouldn't be good for the rest of us. Remember the last time I actually tried to cook? The old man almost lost his customers.”

Zasha nodded and loped off to the cabin, avoiding stepping on the fallen Marines. No need to add insult to injury when they were down, not when she had no personal grievance against them anyway. Good thing steering the ship was in her skill set, else this would be awkward.

The captain's cabin was a complete mess. Papers and things strewn everywhere, empty goblets, ashes from what looked like expensive cigars, and one long table to hold it all. Thankfully there was no rotting food, since it was a Marine ship, and personal affects seemed to be slim to none. She could see a large coat in one corner, a wide Navy style in mostly white with red and gold accents, with big brass buttons that almost touched the floor on her. On a whim she put it on without putting her arms through the sleeves with the nearby hat, but a nearby shaving mirror showed her that the hat was completely not to her personal taste, so she tossed it back on the rack.

Now, logically, where would this lever be? There was a large glass window, heavily reinforced, looking out on the ocean beyond the stern, so the lever should be nearby. And there indeed it was, facing the middle of the window. Or at least, that's where it would have been if the mechanism had actually been there. Zasha looked at the hole in the deck and sighed at the gears. Those were not helpful at all. She looked around the cabin, lifting this and that, peering into corners, but to no avail. It was nowhere to be found. Striding out of the cabin, she hailed her captain.

"Captain Neggy? We've got a problem. I don't know why or how they would do such a thing, but the lever that steers the ship doesn't seem to be where it's supposed to be." It was a worse problem because they really shouldn't be staying long in harbor, not on a stolen Marine ship.

As she walked out she noticed suddenly that the captain's jacket was far too big for him, and the Navy jacket she had liberated from the cabin might fit him much better. It would serve the crew best if their captain made a good showing of it, and besides, as Captain he had first dibs on any of the loot. Zasha shrugged her purloined jacket off and offered it to him.

"Here, Captain, the Marines left something in the cabin that might be to your liking."

"Ah hell" was what Marcus said when he heard about the steering lever. He walked up to the open port, proceeded to pick up a flag pole laying on the ground, and jammed it in to the whole and turned it this way and that. "That should hold until we get to a free port." he sat it the captains chair flipped out his flask and took a swig from it.

He hears this just as he reaches the top deck, he appeared to be carrying one marine on his left shoulder and dragging the other, “Gone? They took it?!” He scrunches his nose, “Damn Marines, always getting in my way!” He lets go of the one he was dragging, and tosses the other overboard; all within reason of course. The young Captain steps over to a barrel, and grabs a cup that had been conveniently perched on the edge; he dips the cup in and lifts it out. Water was in it for obvious reasons. He brought the cup full of water over to the unconscious marine and splashed it on his face; this caused him to rouse him quite quickly, before he could make an attempt at anything Neggy planted his foot on the Marine's shoulder. “Oi. Don't move. Or your dead.” The Marine looked up at the usually playful blondie, “Where's the lever? Why doesn't this ship have a lever?” Nicholas seemed irritated again, “I-i-it isn't...I mean. It's not here cause of the outpost. Prisoner, a new prisoner that's right! When more guards are needed there they take them from ships, but if a ship doesn't have enough to defend it they take the helm as well.” The blonde Captain groans, “Well isn't this just perfect?” He gripes, taking his foot away, “I'm pissed, so you better just throw yourself into the water as soon as you can.”

His indirect threat was heard, and obliged; the Marine was gone with a corresponding splash in a few seconds. “Marine!” He was referring to Marcus, “Is it true?” He asks, hoping that what the one he forced overboard was fibbing. Neggy ascended to the stern of the deck, and slipped passed Zasha to see Marcus' improvisation. “Nevermind, let's try this...But first...” He makes his way towards the flag pole/improvised helm and attempts to move it. Without much force at all, the middle of the pole simply snaps in half. Splinters went flying. “Well, shit.” Neggy looked flustered. He crosses his arms, and leans back against the cabin wall, “No choice then.” The Captain looked as though he already made up his mind.

Neggy just now noticed the coat, it was so...So...Badass! He snatched it from Zasha, "What a find Blue!" He attempts to slip it on, but once he gets his arms through the sleeves he finds that it's too big. "It...Oh...I got an idea." He removes his arms from the sleeves, and just sets the collar on his shoulders. Tying the small laces at the collar's flaps to stop it from slipping off of him. Instead of a coat it was now a cape. He also noticed the hat on the rack inside. "Score!" He zipped to it, and tried it on; he saw himself in the mirror, and nearly feinted in joy. "I look like a right Captain now! I'll scare the hell outta anyone who gets in our way." He claimed, possibly overestimating his chances of intimidation.

It had been eight days since Dahlia Summer had stowed away on a marine ship in an empty fish barrel and she was beginning to regret her decision. Sure it had seemed like a great idea at the time. Stow away in a ship, eventually reach Iskamar, uncover the reason millions of species died. Simple right? Unfortunately, it seemed these marines weren't exactly the friendly type and, according to a random cabin boy's conversation, she'd gotten on the wrong ship. Now she was stuck in a barrel until she had a chance to make a break for it. This was not how she wanted to spend summer vacation.
It was hard enough to sleep scrunched up in small wooden space that reeked of fish and rot without the marines constantly nosing through the cargo hold. At least food wasn't hard to come by. There was plenty to eat in the hold with her. However there was one problem that could not be overcome through sheer willpower and stealth.

Boredom.

“Ugghhhhh. I’m so bored.” The young woman groaned, softly smacking her head against the inside of her temporary home. With a small push she popped off the lid and climbed out, browsing the cargo for something to keep her attention.
“Pickles? Had that yesterday. Jerky? Not in the mood. Fish? Ugh, I don’t think I could even stomach one of those right now.” She prodded through the crates for a minute or two, finally deciding on a can of corn and a peach.

As she sat down to sample her wares a loud crash came from above her. Yelling echoed through the ship for a few moments until suddenly, silence. Without a moment to spare she sprang into action, hoisting her anchor over her shoulder, she slowly opened the door and made her way through the ship, following the voices. After a few moments she reached the captain’s room, the source of the voices. As stealthily as she could, Dahlia hid behind the wall, trying to listen in on the conversation.

"Your the most important member of the crew?? Really? My ass!" Marlie sarcastically groaned under her breath. She could hear the rest of the crew milling about on deck and decided to explore around the storage area/living quarters below. She didn't need to be a part of whatever it was they were doing... "There's bound to be a kitchen here somewhere!" she grumbled, kicking empty liquor bottles around the crates. Finally after a bit of searching she found the a door. "this looks promising" she smiled. Slamming all her weight into it the door flung open. Inside was a whole bunch of medical equipment as well as some weapons and ammo. "That sniper guy will be happy about this!" Marlie was finally gonna be a bearer of good news! Just as she turned to run up to where the rest of the crew was, she spotted something out of the corner of her eye. Across the ship, a good 20 feet away, lay an empty barrel, on it's side....."It wasn't like that when I came down here....." and then the same regret that had been lurking in her since the beginning started to sneak into her throat. "someone else is still on the ship.....crap..." With that Marlie ran up the ladder, with her newly acquired sword in tow.

Marcus had been milling around the ship for the last few minutes or so when he saw something that didn't make sense. It was a barrel, laying open on its side. His hand went to his sabre and he began to fallow were his instincts told him to go. That's when he turns a corner and nearly tramples the albino, who swung her sword at him in a bi of surprise and confusion, only for him to parry her blade and said "Oie, watch were your swinging that thing, jeesh." He then put a finger on his lips and spoke in a whisper "Do you have the feeling there is some one else on this ship?" he asked, still keeping his voice a whisper. His hand went back to his blade again

Quite a ways away from the navy ship that was docked, the outpost stood calm and just with its blinding white paint encrusted onto the gargantuan brick-build walls that masked the more chaotic atmosphere that hung on the inner side. Marines from every sensible rank to be stationed in such outposts were frantically running about, brandishing rations and tools that were piled up beside the entrance in preparation for the coming transfer of their prisoners- Or perhaps the proper term would be sole captive, that would, as was common practise, take place on a pre-determined area in the ocean.

However, for the time being, said prisoner was safely kept in the holding cells just below the main floor. The only company being an unlucky marine recruit that was stationed there.

“And as the grouchy marine circled the hall with a blackened scowl, he wondered why he kept his petty job as an officer of the law. A riveting question, no doubt. One that, naturally, needed to be answered. Perhaps today he wou-”

“Oh shut your trap for Pete's sake! You're giving me a headache.” Again. The middle-aged marine standing stationary in front of the only occupied cell massaged his temples with two of his fingers, presumably feeling a literal headache as opposed to a metaphorical one from the chatty prisoner he was keeping an eye on.

The marine seemed to have gotten his wish granted, however, as a long breathe of silence finally put a stop to the endless, and safe to say, boring narration of his incredibly mediocre life at the marines. Although he was aware that the apparent smirk on the young woman's face told of an entirely different reason the room had fallen deaf – She was scheming on what to press his buttons with next...

However the moment of silence was shortly interrupted by a fellow marine approaching the cell, whispering something and receiving a simple nod in response before taking his leave.

“So.”

“So, what?” The marine instantaneously retorted with a grump, giving the woman a pathetic excuse for an evil eye.

“Problems?” The woman asked with a knowing smile.

“And what makes you say that?”

“Well I haven't been let out of my dog-cage, so we're not ready to leave yet.” The smirk on her face briefly dissipated to make way for a forced pout. “Is this gonna take much longer? I'd like to get my walk on y'know, catch a glimpse of the sun... My face is starting to sprout wrinkles everywhere from this musty old cell...” Her extravagant sigh accentuated the faked worry in her voice. Regardless, she was very eager to move out. If only those pesky marines weren't so gosh darn sluggish with their jobs.

The marine heaved a sigh. “Call it added karma for the crimes you've committed, murderer.”

The woman simply retorted with a grin; “Hey, hey now. I told you I never kill willy-nilly, I've got standards you know.” But of course a marine wouldn't differentiate between what was honest work and what was brutish impulse.

“Tell that to the flock of civilians you've buried under whatever remains of that government building you so callously destroyed.”

“Ouch, you hurt my feelings.” She didn't seem too fazed that the marine knew of the incident that resulted in her capture.

It was fair to say that was a strange day. Kill target, destroy building, drool at handsome hunk that just so happened to pass by, aaaand get bonked on the head by a mosh pit of marines all eager to get a piece of you.

“Anyway, tell your superiors to hurry it up already. I can't wait to meet my new boy toy.” Her wide grin managed to send an uncomfortable shiver of fear through the marine's spine. He couldn't wait for his superior to give the word and be rid of this woman...

"yeah....I totally feel it....they went over there..." Marlie whispered to the sniper. "My haki isn't the best but I'm pretty sure I can figure out where they're going..." Looking this way and that, she started to slide along the wall towards the captain's room. "Oh and here," Marlie smirked as she tossed a pouch of ammo to the sniper, she had yet to figure out his name. "The name's Marlie Spike." She hated making conversation, especially introductions. Without waiting for a response she continued to slink towards the door. Behind it she could hear Neggy and the blue lady discussing what they were going to do. The door had a small crack, just enough to see the see a wisp of brown hair dart behind a large chest of drawers. "Come on!" she gestured towards the sniper, who was close on her tail. And with that she suck into the room, with no one the wiser

Marcus felt a flashback happen as she spoke her name, Marlie Spike, he blinked it away and loaded his rifle with a shell he found in the pouch. That surprised hi as vary few solders, sniper at that, used the same type of bolt rifle, so the shells were rare.

He slowed his breathing and the gold letters began to float across his vision again. They precise measurements were giving him angles of attack and likeliness of him killing anything. What a rare haki he had, rare indeed.

Zasha stifled a laugh at the captain's coat-cape, wouldn't do to be seen laughing at the captain the first day on board, even if this captain had a different attitude than any she'd ever worked under.

The sniper and cook had disappeared to do who-knows-what. She'd bet on a shipboard romance if she'd sensed any chemistry between them in their short acquaintance or if the age gap had been less, but stranger things had happened. Zasha took a critical look around the deck and started taking stock of its contents. The mast seemed in excellent repair, but she would have to climb up it to make sure as well as to check the sails. With everyone else busy, it seemed ridiculous to track someone else down just so she could order them to do a job when she had nothing else going on.

Step by step she climbed the mast, and when she reached the first set of sails she crawled out on it to check the connections between topsail and yard. She stood upon it, checking carefully, and then went to the other side. It didn't take long to check the basics, and with sails you could easily see any rips or tears and this had none. The crow's nest, when she got there, was also in good repair, although the telescope was of poor quality. They would have to pick up a new one somewhere, by purchase or loot. Checking done, for this mast at least, she shimmied quickly down back to the deck. There should be spare sails somewhere in the hold, which she would have to confirm when she had a chance to get down there and take inventory. Without a bo'sun in the crew, she would have to pick up the slack.

Taro sat quietly aboard a marine vessel docked by the outpost on this island. Honestly he wasn't sure how he ended up in this damned mess but he sure as Hell wasn't happy about it, how could he have been so careless as to be picked up. Mistaken for a pirate, it was all because of his hometown, if those idiots hadn't spoken up about him, Taro would be aboard his ship, not this crappy marine ship. Taro sighed defeated getting out his treasured violin, he began playing Canon in D as he sat in the hold of the ship, down below deck. Beautiful music filled the air around him and he smiled broadly as he played.

He heard some yelling topside which caused him to stop playing. He was down in a holding cell the marines had put him in for transport. The yelling was followed by quiet. The he heard some talking and footsteps. None of them ever came right to him however. This made Taro slightly worried. He took out his bow and sliced it through the air, as he did the bars of the cell broke and he walked up to the top of the ship. He noticed the ship had been commandeered. By what seemed to be pirates. Goddamn the luck. Taro thought as he then decided to sit angrily by the base of the mast.
