Description

AGE: 28

PERSONALITY: Matt is a strong willed man, when he gets a plan in his mind he is determined to see it done, no matter what is it. Before the outbreak he was a caring family man who loved seeing those around him happy, he was always the one friends called when they needed a hand because they knew he was reliable and a hard worker. But once his wife got sick he had to focus on taking care of their young daughter Sara, later on the little girl would die from the infection, the day Matt shot his daughter down something changed inside him. Now he is just trying to survive, and keeping those few left around him alive. So far he has not had to hurt anyone to save himself, but a day might come where that might change.

BACKGROUND: Matthew Hendricks was the only child of a middle class family, his parents instilled a strong work ethic in him from a early age and often told him if you think something is right go for it. In high school he played football, his tendency of being over aggressive came in handy on the playing field. After graduation he went to community college and decided after two years there he was done with school. He got a job as a welder with a local construction company; it was while working on day he first saw his boss’s daughter who was only a year younger than him. Two years later they were married, both still young they settled down for the start of a long life. A year after they wed, the couple welcomed a little girl into the family. Matt quickly fell for the brown haired blued eyed little wonder and spent all his free time with the child. It was a picture perfect family for a while all was well, and then Amy his wife had a miscarriage of their second child. Then a few months later she developed cancer, Matt was helpless as he watched his wife slowly die, then the sad day came when it was just him and his daughter Sara. They tried as best they could to settle into a normal life; Matt faced the task of raising his daughter alone as best he could, doing all he could to make the little girl happy. When the outbreak started Matt gathered as many supplies as he could and they stayed in their house, one nice day his daughter kept begging to go outside and play in the backyard. Matt agreed and they went out, it was the happiest the girl had been in a while, as he sat and enjoyed the warm sun the screams of Sara broke the peace. He ran to where she sat at the edge of the yard, the dress she wore was stained with blood, she had stuck her hand under the fence and something had bit her. Not taking time to look at what bit her he gathered her up and rushed to the hospital. The local hospital was over crowded; many of the staff was sick or dealing with the crowds trying to seek help and answers to questions. A young doctor saw him standing there with Sara in his arms and pulled him aside, she treated Sara's wound and let them stay the night on the couch in a room that was already full of beds. The next day Sara did not wake up, Matt watched again, helpless as the light in his life was slowly taken from him. The young doctor who had helped them two days ago was the one to call Sara's death, just as she lifted her fingers from his daughters neck Sara's eyes opened, a inhuman grown came from her mouth and she tried to grab and bite at the doctor. Unsure what to do Matt grabbed the doctor and ran out into the hall. As if fate was playing a cruel game at that moment all hell broke loose, a police man lay dead in the hall, two nurses covered in blood eating the skin off his body, Matt saw the officers pistol laying on the ground and grabbed it, just in time to, because Sara, or the thing that use to be his little girl was coming at him. Matt quickly put a bullet in his head, then with tears running down his face he shot the two nurses, before turning and leaving with the doctor. That was three days ago.

ROLE: Rival

APPEARENCE: Matt is 6'2, his has a muscular build from years of hard work, his black hair is short, though due to the recent events it is getting longer than he likes. His blue eyes are always watching and observing those around him, when angered his eyes turn several shades darker, they use to go back to their bright color again, but lately they always seem to be darker. His currant attire is a pair of blue jeans, plaid button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up and his work boots.

So begins...

Kate sat on a sand bag, she had been sitting behind the small table the evac people had set up to organize those few who where left, so far the man in the Hazmat suit had done nothing but make those in the makeshift camp mad. Matthew Hendricks, the man who had saved her skin at the hopsital was a few feet away pacing back and forth, his jeans where still stained with blood, some of it she was sure was that of his daughter. Her own appearence was not much better, but that did not matter, they were alive. That mattered.

"Matt stop pacing, you need to rest" She said looking up from her hands, the tall man kept walking, "We need to get out of here, hell we should have long since gotten out of here" he replied. He stopped walking and looked over at the chain link fence that was doing little to keep out the growing crowd of Walkers. Kate followed his gaze, then the sound of loud talking coming from another group across the camp got her attention, "Wonder what is going on with them?" she muttered, Matt frowned, "I don't know but its about time we figure something out, we will be safer in numbers anyway," he started to walk away towards the group. Kate just stayed seated watching him walk away, the faint sound of a helicoptor aproaching reached her ears over the sounds of the Walkers moans, Kate looked to the sky trying to see where the thing was coming from, she saw it off in the distance and smiled, rescue was here. But the smile didn't last, the helicoptor was flying crazy, she stood up, eyes still watching the bird as it fell to the ground and slid with a metallic screach.

At the sight of the pilot Kate grabbed her backpack and started running towards him, upon reaching where the man fell she quickly stepped back, her jaw dropped as she saw the extent of his injuries. The head Hazmat suit man slowly walked over, his mask prevented her from seeing his face, "He was the pilot coming to pick you all up, there won't be another pilot coming to this EVAC for another week."

Matt walked up behind her, "If thats the last pilot for a week what the hell are we to do?" his angery was obvious in his voice, his right hand drifted to the pistol at his waist, part of him wanted to shoot the dumb bastard right then, "Pack up everything you all have, this shit is just getting worse." Matt looked at the man standing across from the pilots body, he glanced at the ambulance that had been mentioned a few moments before before looking back at Chris. "Driving out of here is do-able," he said moving his hand from his gun, "Ya'll got room for two more? Might be better to stay together in the long run"

After Troy sheathed the knife he heard the man that argued with the suits, asked if anyone has a plan. Sure, Troy had a plan, but one that didn't include avoiding the monsters. Troy would rather be gung-ho and take as many of 'em as one can to escape. Seeing their work on the outside, well even if they all have a fighting spirit they would end up getting munched on. That was when another young guy came forth with a bag and mentioned he can take us in the Ambulance. Troy looked over to see the one that came in from earlier. This guy must be one of them medics or something. Troy made his way toward the group but stopped short on the sound of a helicopter. Troy quickly spun around to see what could have been their salvation, turned out to be another nightmare.

In came the copter like a bat out of hell and it crashed into the EVAC center. "Of all the fuckin' things!" Troy shouts as he watched the crash. Then was followed by a what looked like half a man, stumbling out and dying. "Shit!" Troy shouted again and walked up to the group. As he walked up two more people appeared, a man and a woman. It seems they want to catch the next bus out of here. If the the ambulance was their best shot out of here, then Troy is sure as hell he wants to go. "Wha' in the hell is goin' on 'ere!?" Troy shouted making his presence known. As he heard the others speaking of how much room they could hold, Troy didn't want to miss his spot. "Oi! I'll be takin' that one way trip outta 'ere too!" Troy boisterously called out after Aislin spoke. "I ain't goin' to be these fuckers next meal!" Troy spoke as he gave them a look of determination. He isn't going to be left behind, he's going whether they like it or not.

"He's drunk...at least I hope..." Sam thought as the man who had been antagonizing the geeks along the fence strolled over and started shouting at them. His accent was pretty strong but he made his intention pretty clear. As did the other girl with the eye makeup and slightly easier accent next to the older gent. The other woman seemed a bit older than himself, as well as the man with her. They looked oddly familiar, like he'd seen them somewhere before. Maybe the hospital during one of his runs?

"It's fine, It's fine." Sam said. By his count, that was seven people, eight if the girl nearby with the blue bandana around her wrist came as well. "It will be a bit cramped, but the bed was taken out when we got here so there's room. He took up Cane's kit again and strode to the back of the ambulance and opened the doors. His kit lay on the floor to the right, where he left it. He placed Cane's bag on top of his. "Someone can sit on that, nothing inside will break." There was also a long bench on the right side that could sit three comfortably, four in this case, with a cargo net lining the wall behind the passenger seat to hold onto. A large cabinet was built into the bench where various supplies were kept. More cabinets scaled the wall to the right side as well as another seat where a technician such as himself, or paramedic would sit to tend to the patient.

Sam reached up into the cabinets on the left and pulled two plastic morgue drapes free to lay down over the coagulated blood and muck left behind from the animated man. It was too apparent on the large space in the absence of the stretcher that normally occupied it. "That should do it. Anybody else?" He turned back to Christopher. "I'll drive, I take it you're up front with me?"

Sam didn't have any other belongings besides the kit and everything in the Ambulance and was still fairly close to it when the gate came crashing down. Most of the others had been trapped on the other side of the fence and where the geeks were flooding in. He decided to get to the van before too many were on him when a firm grip grabbed a hold of his clothing and pulled him off balance. As he twisted and pulled against the grip, he heard a rough accent yelling at him. Troy finally let go of him and kept yelling at Sam to come on or give him the keys. "Just get in the damn van already!" Sam yelled back.

Sam jumped in the driver's seat and started the Ambulance as Troy kept his guttural yelling. "Shut up already!" He snapped. There was no way Sam was just going to floor it and take off without the others, but there was a horde of geeks and a gate in his way. "Ah Fuck it!" Sam put the pedal to the floor and shifted the gear to drive. The van stuttered a second as it crashed over the fence and the few geeks clawing behind it. They bumped and banged over undead bodies as Sam tried to avoid hitting too many at once.

He drove past the survivors to allow them access to the back of the van and stopped as close as he could to them without hitting anyone. He left the Ambulance running and opened the doors to the back. "Hurry up! Get in!" He yelled over the sounds of destruction.

Shit hit had hit the fan.

As the fence fell Matt pushed kate behind him and raised his pistol, "Everybody! Gather to us and make a triangle formation! women to the back, men to the front!" the two moved back towards the older man, Kate watched as the Hazmat man tried to run, but the bulk of his suit slowed him. The walkers quickly overtook him, he went down with a scream, it was quickly silenced. The triangle formation was working, Kate not having a gun kept a eye out for any walkers getting too close for comfort. The ambulance busted through the fence and took down a few Walkers, the back doors opened and the paramedic yelled for them to get in, Kate was one of the first inside, she quickly turned back to help the others in, offering her outstretched hand to whoever needed it.
