Sindri

"From tears the Phoenix was born. In ashes does it die."

0 · 202 views · located in The World of Ashan.

a character in “The War of the Gods.”, as played by HunterOrdo

Description

God/Goddess

Name: Sindri
Alias: The Great Sorcerer. Lord Sindri. The True Archmage.
God of: Arcane Magic and The Pursuit of Knowledge (since it is not possible even for a God to know everything)

Domain: The Realm of the Archmage is a world without law. Magic by definition defies the laws of the physical realm. Laws such as gravity does not exist. The domain itself is of the night sky with a great floating palace with great spiral towers that change colors and even shape every second never staying quite the same making the Palace one large ever changing maze. Inside this great palace is many rooms filled with books upon books. As soon as a mortal writes a book it is added to the collection that Sindri will read when he finds time. Great flaming braziers float lighting up the palace and its ever changing walls. Long elegant tapestries flutter in a non-existence wind. At the center of this Maze like Palace is a small study in-which Sindri spends most of his time. The small study is by no means hard for other Gods and Goddesses to find, but a mortal would be forever lost and driven insane by the forever changing walls.

Appearance: Sindri appears as a tall but frail looking man. He stands at 6'4 but is very thin having little to no muscles. He is always in a large robe that is constantly changing colors and designs making it dazzling to look upon. The hood of the robe is large and if pulled up it completely enshrouds his face. His face is nothing much by itself, so it is makes no difference if he hides it or shows it. He is an average looking man with bright green eyes, a brown 6 o'clock shadow, and long wavy brown hair. He has a small scar around his left eye, although he doesnt speak of where it comes from. He is tan skinned neither light or dark. He has small thin shoulders with thin elegant fingers that are more at home turning pages then holding a sword.

Personality: Sindri is an observant man. He loves to watch the mortals, almost adores it. He loves to speak to the other gods as he finds company pleasant. He is a very curious person loving nothing more then to discover more about people and expand philosophies. He hates confrontation, disliking to fight. He will usually concede a point or argument if it means avoiding a fight. Sindri is a forgiving god usually willing to overlook insults and slights to himself if necessary to preserve the peace. He is rather kind as he is one of the more soft hearted gods. He is easily startled and surprised by other Gods as he is constantly lost in thought.

Dislikes:
Ignorance
Seeing education lost (such as books. If all the books of a type are burned it is lost forever even from Sindris library.)
Seeing hatred towards magic
Those that are biased. Magic touches all no matter what or who you are.
He is not fond of dragons.

Goals: He wants to stay neutral in this new conflict, although he understands that it is impossible to do so. He has no intentions of becoming the new God King, so is looking for someone to support.
View on Mortals: Finds them simply fascinating. He loves to watch them as they go about their daily activities. He tries not to interfere as much as possible, but has been known to get deathly attached to certain people.
Alignment: Neutral Good.
Equipment: Nothing. He doesn't really carry anything with him.

Avatar

Name: Phoenix
Age: Unknown
Occupation: Monster..
Appearance: Image
Personality: Although She is a large monster. The huge fiery bird shows signs of deep intelligence and understanding.
Likes: The Phoenix loves eating meat particularly beef. She seems to like most women and small children more then men, and prefers those with magic then those without.
Dislikes: The Phoenix dislikes those that her master dislikes.
Skills: The bird is covered in feathers of flames. The flames burn only those the bird wishes to burn, if She does not mean you harm, and you were to touch her, your hand would touch soft, warm feathers.
The Phoenix can breath fire.
The Phoenix can never truly die. If killed she turns to ashes and is reborn as a baby. She must then regrow which takes years.
The tears of the Phoenix heal all but the most grievous wounds (nothing really can heal decapitation)
Goals: None.
Alignment: True Neutral
Equipment: None
Family: None
History (if desired): There are many Myths and Legends that surround the Phoenix as there is only one of its kind in the entire world. It is said she is Aereth. When Aereth died, it is said that one of Sindris tears landed on her body, and her corpse erupted in flames only to rise again as a mighty bird, the Phoenix. This is of course just child stories..
Other: When the Phoenix sings, it is said to be one of the most beautiful sounds in the world.

City-State

Name: Aerethsfalls
Population: 13,207
Military/Navy (if applicable): The city has the Phoenix Guard who consist of 1,300 men. They are not soldiers and so cannot be counted on to hold the lines in a battle, in the past it was the Wizards who did most of the fighting, and the soldiers merely held the line keeping the wizards safe. The Phoenix Guard is armored in simple chainmail (dyed gold) under leather tunics, helm (dyed gold), they wear a tabard and a large cloak with the cities emblem that of the Phoenix that show they are a member of the Phoenix Guard. They are armed with a Halberd, Kite Shield (also with the Phoenix emblem), and a Longsword.

If under siege some of the men are given longbows to rain arrows down from the walls. The Members of the Phoenix Guard are only given 3 months of training, so it would not be farfetched to call them glorified militia.

Culture: The City is home to the largest College of Magic in the world having multiple wizard towers inside its walls, however, it is also a cause for a great void in loyalties. The city is divided into those that have magic and those who do not. Those with magic many times find themselves looking down upon those without, while those without hate those that do, but also they fear magic. Magic is wondrous and terrible at the same time, and so it is feared by the common man.

There have been numerous acts of civil war inside the city with the Wizards clashing with the Nobility of Aerethsfall. The control of the city has switched many times in the last centuries, but both sides have fallen into an unsteady truce both policing themselves. The people of Aerethsfall tend to be well educated thanks to the College of Magic which seeks to fight ignorance wherever it rises, but due to their education they tend to be more restless with the current situation. The people of Aerethsfalls are fond of great celebrations where the members of the College of Magic brings great spells to show to the people. Although the people fear and sometimes hate magic, they would be hard pressed to not be impressed with the results.

The people of Aerethsfalls love art, music, theater, architecture, and other higher forms of entertainment due to their prosperity, religion, and education. They view the world as to be understood and explored, and other races they view with mild tolerance as members of the College of Magic are sometimes not human.

The laws of Aerethsfalls are very tricky. If the crime is magic orientated or deals with someone of magic ability then the College of Magic deals with it usually by either reprimanding or confining the person to their quarters for light crimes, if the crime is serious they are stripped of their magical ability and banished from the college. Necromancy is illegal. Crimes for Non-Magic users is far more lax. The only time death is handed out is if it is murder or rape and there is 2 or more witnesses to the crime.

Description of nearby lands: The City of Aerethfalls is situated near the great lake of Aereth in the middle of the Great Plains of Ashan. Myth says that there was once a mighty wizard by the name of Aereth. She held such power that she was favored by Sindri himself, and during the war of the Gods, she won many victories for her god, but in the end she was betrayed by her loved ones. She made her last stand in the middle of the Great Plains of Ashan, and when she fell it is said that the God of Magic cried great tears and from those tears a great lake was formed. The followers of Aereth named the lake after her, and started the city of Aerethfalls in her honor.

Description of City: The city of Aerethfalls is small when compared to other great cities, but it makes up for it in architectural beauty. Great pillars line many of the temples, public buildings, and the College itself. Large lanterns are lit by magical flames and held in the air by unseen hands. 6 Great Round Spires pierce the sky and one can see them from miles away in the vast plains. Paved roads and bridges that scale over the magic made water channels (drawn from Lake Aereth) span the city.

Government Type: Oligarchy

Important Figures of the City: The control of Aerethsfalls is truly in the hands of three people:

Count Charles Konrad - A old war veteran. He is nearing his 42nd year. He is a large man of 6'2. He has black hair with a small neatly groomed goatee. He has dark brown eyes that look almost black. He has a few scars, one on his chin given to him by a rebel soldier. He hates Mages as he was the last leader of the Non-magic users in the last civil war. He distrust them all. Most of the Cities military (Phoenix Guard) follow him.

Duchess Kereth Alston - A cunning and beautiful woman of 26. She is unmarried but uses her looks and lineage to get her way in the city. She is an extremely ambitious women always trying to gain just a little more control of the city. She sees Count Charles to be her greatest rival whom she looks to eliminate in any way possible. She has striking green eyes, long brown flowing hair, sharp regal features and soft milky white skin. She has the backing of most of the other Nobles.

Archmage Aenarion - A old human of 73. He is the Archmage of the College of Magic, so is the leader of the Magic Community. He has long flowing white hair, and a long beard to match. He has tired looking blue eyes that hold an almost kindness in them. He likes to wear flowing blue and silver robes. His wizards staff is engraved with strange gold runes and at the head a great Phoenix has been fashioned to the end.

Important Facts/Others that people should know: The City of Aerethsfalls usually hires out Wizards and Mages to other cities for profit.

College of Magic population: 372
College of Magic Rankings:
Initiate - Magic Hopefuls. Many people have magic ability, but only a few have enough to become mages. Many initiates will join the College but only a few will move on to be Mages. Their magic ability is primitive and basic, but there are many of them. There are almost 200 Initiates in the College.
Mage - Mages usually consist of recently graduated Initiates. They have not decided to become Battle Mages (or dont have the ability), so stick around the College studying. If the city were to come under attack, these young mages would be on the front lines. They are impetuous and foolish though as they have just recently earned the title and feel invincible with the power of magic at their backs. They are average magic users in terms of strength. There are 68 of these in the College.
Battle Mage - These are the mages hoping to become Wizards, but in order to do so they need to go and gather experience. It is they who the College hires out to other city-states for whatever reason. They are powerful magic users. There are 72 of these in the College.
Wizard - They are the elder Magic Users of the College. They are the instructors of the Initiates and are the most powerful (besides the Archmage) magic users. There are 31 of these is the College.
Archmage - Only one Archmage exist and that is Aenarion. The Archmage is the most powerful (and hopefully wisest) wizard of the College.
