Name: Zana Callin
Age: 18
Region: Mountains

Physical Description:
Zana stands a little over 5'6". She is a naturally slim girl, with a subtle hourglass figure. She has light blonde hair that falls part way down her back and green eyes. Her skin is naturally pale and she has a light dusting of freckles across her nose and cheeks.

Likes:
||Snow||High Altitudes||Hunting||Neva||
||Her twin daggers||Hot pools||Dusk and Dawn||

Dislikes:
||Being Hunted||Prejudice||Ignorance||
||Unasked for visions||Large Crowds||

Image
Personality:
Zana is a smart, patient girl who prizes respect and integrity. She was taught to be well-mannered and polite to her elders and to respect the decisions of others. She is rarely outspoken and takes time to think her actions and words through before acting or speaking. When angered Zana will rarely lash out verbally or physically, preferring to calm herself done before replying. Her calm nature allows her to view the world without the mask created by anger. However that isn't to say that Zana is emotionless, she just prefers to think things through before reacting.

Zana shares several traits with her animal companion. Like the snow leopard she prefers being alone or with people she is close to. She isn't shy when meeting strangers, she just prefers being with people she knows. Zana tends to let her guard down more around close friends, allowing more of her emotions to show.

Zana's quick mind has always been an asset. She is able to efficiently analyse and judge a situation, exploring all the options. If she is forced into a corner this ability to see the options available to her has often helped her survive. As with snow leopards Zana will take on larger prey or enemies if forced to. She is a competent fighter, her skills much like that of Neva in that she can strike hard and fast. But she generally prefers to put off fighting unless absolutely necessary.

Undoubtedly being a warg with the ability to see into the future has helped shape Zana into who she is. The need to, at times, conceal her nature has helped form her into the reserved, analytical girl she has become. She is still not entirely comfortable with her future visions but is learning to control them. She is proud of her powers and would not trade them for anything. Her connection with Neva is stronger than any human relationship she has.

Quirks:
Zana bites her lip when nervous or anxious
She twirls a strand of hair when idly thinking.
She favours a deadly set of twin daggers that are generally hidden beneath a fold of her coat.
She can move as softly and quietly as Neva when she must.

Talents:
|As a warg Zana can see through the eyes of her snow leopard, Neva. She can control Neva completely when in her body.|
|Zana is able to glimpse the future. She sees flashes of what is to come. She has yet to fully control this power and is usually unable to call on it at will. Her future visions tend to appear during periods of high stress|
|She is also a skilled hunter, particularly in alpine or sub-alpine regions and a competent fighter, preferring to use a set of twin daggers. She has the steal and agility of a snow leopard and is easily able to move unseen when stalking prey.|

Relationship with Companion:
Zana's traveling companion is her mentor. He/She is also a warg(?) and is helping Zana to reach her full potential.

Animal Companion:
Neva the snow leopard, Zana's best friend and animal companion.
Neva is a young female snow leopard. Her fur is a snowy grey and her eyes are a shocking blue.
Her thick coat of fur is ideal for the snowy, mountainous regions of her homeland.
She is average sized for her age, weighing 40kgs and stands at 60cm at the shoulder.

She was found by Zana as a pup. She is Zana's animal companion and will defend Zana from any potential threat.
When sleeping she prefers to curl up by Zana's side, flopping her large paws across the girl.

The sun rose slowly coloring the sky with an array of pink, orange, and red shades. The air has the clean and brisk scent of a chilly spring morning. The grass is in dew, except in the savanna where the air and ground gets more dry the closer one get’s to the river, and of course in the Desert area, where the sun beats down mercilessly, and it doesn’t cool down until you reach the tundra. In the tropical section of the Forest lands, the air is alive with the sound of exotic birds and insects, in the deciduous part, it’s quieter, but songbirds still chirp with the chattering of squirrels and chipmunks occasionally interrupting their song. In the Badlands, everything is eerily quiet, and in the Mountains nothing is heard save for the sounds of whipping winds that get louder the higher one climbs.

For years Wargs have been on the run, trying to escape the hands of prosecution. Lately, there has been some talk. The people are talking of a safe place. One where Hunter’s cannot harm a Warg. It rests in the middle of the continent. It sounds like the best bet to those on the run, those in the Desert will travel north, those in Mountains; east, if placed in the Forests or Prairies; west, and those in the Badlands; south.

Wargs are not the only one’s aware of this place though. Hunters from around the region know of its location and the race begins. Survival being the ultimate goal.

Zana Callin

East. That was where she was heading. To the rumored place where she could finally be safe. She could see the end of the mountains from her place on the edge of the rocky outcropping. She wasn't far from their feet now. The wind rustled her hair and blew through her clothes, trying to worm its way between her thick coat.
Pressed against her leg was her companion and best friend, Neva. Neva's grey fur was perfect for the mountainous highlands they were leaving, she could stalk prey silently and blend into the landscape easily. Down in the flats her camouflage would work less well. It would be more dangerous down there. There would be more people to notice the girl and her snow leopard.

Neva twitched at Zana's side and Zana seemed to sense what the animal was thinking, they had spent too much time watching the scenery. Zana nodded and began to clamber her way back down to the trail. The cliff top had given her a good idea of how close she was to the foot of the mountains, now all she had to do was navigate her way down there.

The two had been traveling for a while now, ever since they're first been forced to flee for lives. They had wondered about the mountains, living off the hardened animals that called this place their home. Now they had a purpose, to find this safe haven.
'I wonder what animals the other wargs have.' Zana remarked to Neva as the two began their trek down the thin game trail. The track was covered in snow, rocks and ice making it extremely dangerous but both girl and snow leopard were extremely agile on their feet and had no problem making their way down the trail. Neva padded off down the track, always within hearing distance. Zana let herself fall into a comfortable pace.

Rounding a bend Zana found Neva crouched low just beyond the path, the thick snow almost covering her completely. Zana paused, took a breath and thrust herself into Neva's mind. She didn't want to control Neva just now, she only want to see through her eyes. Zana blinked and she found herself in the animal's mind. Neva had found a small hare. Zana pulled herself out of Neva's mind and carefully made her way forwards. She had every confidence in Neva's hunting ability and so wouldn't interfere. She moved almost soundlessly through the thick snow and waited for Neva to pounce.

When she did it was with a single burst of power. The hare never had a chance. Purring happily the snow leopard returned with the dead hare in her mouth and dropped it in front of Zana. Zana crouched down and hugged Neva around the head.
"You take it Nev," She said pushing the animal back to Neva, "I'd have to make a fire and that would draw too much attention. Besides, I've got this." As she spoke Zana pulled out a handful of dried meat. Not as tasty as freshly caught and cooked meat but it would have to do for now.

Zana and Neva had slowled to a brisk walk, their feet making barely a sounds as the passed over the freshly fallen snow. Up in the heights of the mountains there was little noise. Zana and Neva's soft crunching steps were the only immediate sounds nearby. Of course, Zana and Neva both knew there were other living things nearby. The hare Neva had caught earlier had been an unlucky one, but there were more animals around and larger ones too. The game trail they were on was well used, the recent snowfall already showed signs of several animals.

"You think we should stop soon?" Zana asked Neva as the two rounded a corner. A great shelf of rock jutted out from the mountain side, provided a decent shelter for the two from the harsh winds that were picking up. Neva with her warm furs would hardly notice the rapidly dropping temperatures, but Zana was only protected by her clothes. True, they were padded and lined with fur too but there were cracks and the winds icy fingers had began to find their ways through her layers. She needed a chance to rest, eat some food and take a moment out of the wind.

Neva, without a word from Zana, led the way to the small shelter, her long tail held just above the snow. As they pair left the track the snow deepened. Zana found herself crunching through snow that came up to her knee but, thankfully, when she reached the shelter she found little snow under the ledge. A drift had built up around the edge, creating a sort of barrier between the inside and the outer winds.

Come here Nev." Zana said, indicating with her hands. Zana sat down to meet Neva, placing her bag to the side. Neva padded over to Zana, rubbing her head against the girl's shoulder before arranging herself across Zana's lap.
Zana quickly pulled out her bag of food. She bit her lip, considering whether she should risk building a fire. She carried a bundle of precious sticks on her bag. Up in the mountains it could become bitterly cold and there wasn't a large amount of fire wood.

"We're not far from the mountain's feet though." Zana told Neva, pulled free some of the wood, "I'll have to risk it."
Slowly, fighting the numbness in her fingers, Zana built a fire. It was small and, likely to draw little attention from afar. She pulled out some food and began making her meal, all the time working around the snow leopard purring in her lap.

Jax

Jax wrapped the animal skins he used as a coat closer to him for warmth. He had begun the climb up the mountain. He had also made coverings for Stone, keeping his body warm and wrapping his paws so they wouldn't freeze. The trek was perilous, but from the camp he stumbled upon earlier, he knew that there was another Hunter around. More Hunters meant that it was more likely that a Warg was around somewhere. He would rather be the one that found the monster, but it didn't really matter to him as long as the freak died. Stone stopped suddenly and turned his snout up, sniffing the air. He growled and Jax followed his eyes, a fire. He smirked, either that was the other Hunter, or it was the monster he was looking for. He reached down and rubbed Stone's head, praising the talented dog.

The small fire sent warmth up Zana's arms, the numbness in her fingers quickly disappearing. Neva began to purr softly too. Zana prepared her meal quickly. She was well practiced at camp fire cooking and could make even the most basic ingredients into decent meal. Neva, content with the hare from earlier in her stomach, sat happily beside Zana. The warm food helped to warm Zana up even more. She was from the mountains so she was used to the cold. She knew how to survive in it and the best ways to keep warm.

After she had eaten she simply sat and let the fire warm her. Most likely she would have stayed seated in the mock shelter for longer had not Neva's ears suddenly pricked up. Both the snow leopard and the girl froze. A low growl built up in Neva's throat and she quickly jumped to her feet. Zana quickly doused the fire and moved to peer out through the snow. In the distance she could see the source of Neva's concern, a man and his dog.

"Gotta be a hunter.' Zana whispered to Neva. It was always safer to assume that someone was a hunter. Besides, the two hadn't seen many people around her recently. He didn't look like a local from what Zana could see.

Slowly and using all her stealth Zana and Neva left their shelter. Zana wanted a closer view of the man before she did anything else. If he was a hunter she would need to make sure she wasn't followed, either by disarming him or by leading him on a false trail. But on the off chance that the man was a normal person not intent on killing her than perhaps she could ask him the fastest way down. A local would surely know the fastest tracks.

Zana stepped around a boulder, sticking low and out of the line of sight of the man and his dog. She had spotted a cluster of snow and boulders just beside and above the man. That would be the perfect spot for the girl to inspect him without him seeing her. Neva led the way, her paws softly padding on the snow and stones. The pair made little noise as they walked. Zana made sure to keep one eye on her footing and one eye on the figure.

Soon enough Zana found herself crouched behind a snow covered rock looking down at the man. He was covered in furs for warmth. Even his dog's paws were covered. Her view was partially obscured and she was still uncertain whether he was a hunter or not.
'I need to get closer' She thought to herself in frustration. She made a move forward but placed her foot on a hidden piece of ice. She lost her balance and her arms spiraled out for something to hold onto. It was in vain though and before she knew it she had fallen down a few feet from the man. Neva leaped down and placed herself in between the man and Zana as the girl quickly stood to face the man.

Jax

Stone turned his face and growled, Jax looked up at where the fire had been earlier. It was gone. He placed a hand on Stone's head and before he could even say anything it was if the universe smiled down on him. A pretty girl with blond hair tumbled down, a few feet from him and a snow leopard had jumped in front of her to fend him off. As she tried standing he grinned. This was a Warg if he had ever seen one. He removed his knives from their sheathes, one in each hand and twirled them in his hands, waiting for the girl to stand up. Sure, he was all for killing, but he preferred to give everyone he encountered a fair fight. Stone took a position by his side, getting low and snarling at the cat in front of them. Okay, so it wasn't your garden variety house cat, but it was still feline, so he hated it. When the girl finally found her ground, he waited for her to acknowledge his drawn weapons and gave her time to remove hers.

"Are you ready to fight, freak?" he snarled and Stone barked and growled after he spoke. It had been weeks since either of them had killed a Warg, so this would be fun.

Zana Callin

Zana inspected the man, her eyes darting from his canine companion to the weapons he had just drawn out. It seemed that, just like Zana, he favoured twin blades. Zana drew hers out, a pair of beautiful twin daggers that she kept close to her at all times. She assessed her opponent. He was tall, well built and undoubtedly had strength and a longer reach on his side. But Zana was fast and she knew how to work the mountain terrain to her advantage. She also had Neva.

Neva was crouched on all fours, her tail slowly whipping back and forth as the snow leopard watched the man and his dog. Zana thought that the dog would be little danger to the snow leopard. Neva was perfectly capable of taking down prey her size and larger. This dog, who looked half frozen and was disadvantaged by the furs he wore, would be no problem for her Neva.

The only option available to Zana was to fight. Running would only put her at a disadvantage. So, she gave her full attention to the hunter, letting Neva take the dog.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Zana asked the man, slowly crouching into her own ready stance. "You'd better say goodbye to you little dog. Neva doesn't take too kindly to mongrels."
The words were uncharacteristic for Zana, she was usually polite and well-mannered. But she had often found that angering an opponent was a good way of putting them off. If he was angry he was less likely to think first, making him easier to beat.

Neither Zana or Neva gave either dog or man a chance to answer. Neva pounced, her powerful legs catapulting her towards the dog. Neva's claws slashed through the air and her jaws opened.

As for Zana her attack was only a fraction slower. She spun into an attack, slicing the air with her daggers. Maneuvering through the snow was little trouble for Zana, her feet found easy purchase one the surface. With one arm shielding her body from a counterattack Zana thrust the other forward, aiming for the gap in the man's defense. If she hit she would likely tear through both his furs and skin. If she didn't she was always ready to pull back and try again.

Jax

The freak was fast, that much was obvious, but he was doing a decent job of defending himself. She made a lunge at him, and he realized the gap he had left open, he spun out of the way, and his feet lost purchase on the snow. He kicked out at her, then he heard Stone yelp. He spun on his butt to Stone, pulling the cat off of his dog. He slashed out at the cat before turning his full attention onto Stone. It was stupid. He knew that it might be the death of him to take his eyes off his attacker for one second, but Stone was his only friend in the world, his family, and she was injured. He took a sheltering position on his knees in front of Stone, his knives out. Ready for the girl's next attack.

The girl could win. He would die at the hands of a Warg, just like his father had. His stomach dropped, but he kept his face straight, ready and waiting.
