The land of Halderia is split into four different kingdoms. Balderia is a hilly, mountainous region where warriors are born and bred. Dalla is a peaceful nation located near the sea and it is where healers can be found. Nalga is the located in the northern region where a lot of farming is done. Lastly, Hander is a plains region located in the south. For many years, peace was found between all regions but like all good things, it must come to an end. Hander has become greedy, wanting to take over the other three regions and have one kingdom. Hander begins taking over the lands and King Phillip of Dalla is growing nervous, knowing that if war comes to his doorstep, there is nothing he could do to keep from being overran.
Frightened for Dalla's safety, King Philip turns to the Balderian King. Being known for their fierceness, King Phillip offers them a deal: His daughter and access to the port in return for their protection. One hundred years ago, a similar deal was struck but the princess broke her end of the deal, and ever since Dallans have stayed away from Balderians. King Philip is shocked that the Balderian king agreed.
Name: Isabella Dalan
Age: 18
Background: Isabella grew up in Dalla to a loving mother and father. Three years ago, Isabella's mother died, leaving her father to rule Dalla by himself. Isabella is a free spirit and loves unconditionally. She loves her people. She knew one day she would have to get married but she thought it would be on her terms, not because of a war. She is passionate about helping people. She always tries to see the better side of things and would give the clothes off of her back. She is as innocent as a rose - she has never even kissed a guy. She does as she is told and do whatever it takes to keep those she cares about safe.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 2 authors
Just a few days ago Alderβs father approached him and told him that the country of Dalla had sent a message asking for assistance against Hander, which was threatening to invade them. Now Baldaria did not appreciate what Hander was doing and was prepared to go to war when this message arrived. This only served to benefit Baldaria who was already preparing their armies. As the Commander of the Army Alder would be leading the legions to war so he expected his father to include him in these negotiations. But what he hadnβt expected was when Isadore had told Alder the king had offered not just access to their ports but his daughter in exchange for help protecting Dalla. This came as a surprise to Alder as he was quite familiar with the history between Baldaria and Dalla in a similar deal a little over a hundred years ago. At this Alder had expect to have to be involved in a deal in which Veloren would marry the Dalla princess. This left a sour taste in Alderβs mouth not because of their relationship but because Veloren would have some leverage over Alderβs former home.
But Alder was wrong, as his father told him he had arranged for Alder to marry the Princess. This shocked Alder, he expected for Veloren to have been given her hand due to being the Crowned Prince. But his father explained that with the way things were between him and Veloren he couldnβt risk infighting when Veloren was given the throne. It was just as likely Veloren would use his power to displace or even eliminate Alder. And with the relationship between father and son having degraded over the years, Isadore suspected he wouldnβt be able to keep Veloren in line for much longer. In addition, his father wanted to give back to Alder some connection Dalla. Most of what his father said made sense and though the reason for him giving an Alder some connection to his old home country did not as useful to them it gave Alder a way home if he ever needed or wanted to go home. In short for leveled the field for both princes and widened the gap of conflict between them.
So here he sat, waiting for the final negotiations to commence. Alder gave a small smile to his father who saw it out of the corner of his eye and returned it. Alder then returned to the book he had been reading. In front of him were several books and papers with information regarding Handar. With them ready to go to war Alder was preparing his mind by learning about his enemy before they did battle. Knowing how they lived and thought was just as beneficial as a well trained army. A sigh escaped to his left and a voice spoke, βWhen are they going to arrive.β Vlorenβs voice said in a clearly frustrated tone. After learning Alder would be marrying the Dalla princess Veloren had become quite hard to deal with the last few days. No doubt he saw this as a violation as his right as the crowned prince and believed he himself to be more fit to marry the princess.
βPatience Veloren, they will here soon.β Alder said in a cool voice as he continued reading. Veloran glared at Alder, βI would appreciate it if you would keep such input to yourself, brother!β Veloren spat. Alder ignored him and turned the page to his book, βAlder is right Veloren, have patience. They will arrive soon enough.β Their father said. Veloren huffed and muttered to himself, no doubt obscenities directed at Alder. Alder shook his head, his father was right, Veloren was becoming much harder to control and more unpredictable. Perhaps this marriage would be fore the best, it would give Alder a way to get away from Veloren if the time came and maybe, put the prince at ease. But for now he had a war to prepare for, a negotiation to preside over,
And soon a wedding to attend.
"Your Highness, it is almost time to go."
Isabella turned to find Evan - a member of her Royal Guard - standing about five feet away from her. She nodded as she walked towards him. "I'm assuming everyone is waiting on me?" Evan nodded, some of his dark brown hair fell down into his chiseled face. He pushed it away subconsciously as he led her towards the stables. "Of course they are," she grumbled to herself.
Evan laughed at the Princess' childish behavior. "It will be fine, Isabella. Your father just wants your presence seeing as you are the only other member of the royal family." Isabella rolled her eyes at his statement. "That is bullcrap and you know it, Evan. You know just as well as I do that he can't stand the thought of leaving me here all alone. I'm not some defenseless little girl."
Evan reached for her, catching her by her wrist. "Stop. We can't allow this to get out. I know as well as the other three members of your guard know that you aren't defenseless. Your father would have my head if only he knew what we taught you when he wasn't looking."
Isabella lets out a huff before nodding. Evan was right. Her father would reprimand them if he knew that her Guard had taught her how to defend herself. She struggled in hand to hand combat - only because she was smaller than them - but she excelled in using a bow. They had even called her a natural. "You're right." They remained silent as they made their way towards the stables. Isabella saw the remaining members of her guard, mounted on their horses, waiting for her.
"Your father and his Guard set out a few minutes ago, he wants a small distance between him and you in case something was to happen," Alexander, a tall blond hair, blue eyed man, said as she approached. She didn't say anything as she mounted her solid white mare. She stroked the horse's black mane before looking around at the men who guarded her.
Evan the dark haired brown eyed man was the leader. Alexander, blond hair blue eyed man, was the second in command. Nathaniel and his twin Mason both had blond hair and brown eyes. They always flanked the group, making sure nothing came up from behind them. "Alright, let's go," Evan said after he climbed onto his horse. They all took off in a run, wanting to get to the Balderian kingdom before nightfall. They didn't want to be caught out in the open once the sun falls.
For several hours, they rode in silence. Not bothering with idle chit chat. The scenery began to change as they grew closer to the Balderian border. It went from being woodsy to hilly open plains. She could see the mountains in the distance and couldn't help but to think how pretty it was. This was the farthest any of them had ever been from their home. Dallan's normally never left unless a neighboring country needed a healer.
She was curious about everything around her. She had always wanted to venture out past the castle walls but her father shot her down every time. Now, she had her taste of freedom and could see the beauty. When she went back, it would be hard for her to be contempt with staying inside the boundaries of the city. They came to a halt as her father and his men stopped. She couldn't hear what was going on so she turned to Evan. "Do you know why are stopping?"
Evan shrugged uncertainly. "I think this may be where we are supposed to meet the Baldarian's escort to bring us the rest of the way. It is easy to lose your way out here and we wouldn't want to get lost. I'm not sure, though. Your father knows what he is doing, though."
That didn't make Isabella feel any better. She was ready to get off of her horse, she hadn't ever done this much riding at one time. Her legs were stiff and her bottom was hurting. She started to dismount but Alexander stopped her. "Your highness, stay on the horse. If something happens, we need to be able to flee." Settling back onto her horse, she nodded. She didn't like this, not one bit.
The setting changes from Halderia to The Baldarian Countryside
For some time they waited, first a few minutes, then five and then ten. At times they caught sight of movement but whatever it was vanished before anyone could discern what it was. Dismissed as merely animals the party continued to wait. But right exactly at fifteen minutes a low rumble could be heard in the distance, it was faint but there and it was growing. Soon the rumble was booming thunder of hooves and within a moment five horsemen appeared over the ridge of the a nearby hill. They rood in near perfect unison, their pure white horses a sharp contrast to the armor they were wearing. Within moments they were upon the royal entourage and brought their horses to a halt in front of them. The men were of average height and wore various types of armor, each one unique in itβs own right but still adhering to Balderian craftsmanship.
One riderβs armor had wing like protrusions sticking out from his helmet, arm braces and boots. Another had a blood red tail flowing out from the top of the helmet and flowing down his back. While beautiful each oneβs armor was none the less intimidating and this was the reason for it, beautiful and intimidating in one package. Oddly enough, all five riders were rather shorter than what one would expect from Baldarian soldiers. The lead rider of the formation trotted his horse closer, β Greetings King Philip, we are the Valkyries, we have been sent by the Commander of the Army to escort you.β The rider said in a surprisingly feminine voice.
βForgive us for making you wait. Once you arrived we had to scout the surrounding area for any possible beings following you.β She said, revealing they had been in the area since the royals had arrived. βIf you will please follow us we will escort you the rest of the way to the capitol.β She explained. The other riders meanwhile did nothing, remaining stoic as they waited. However their helmets turned and looked at each other as if they were speaking, but no sound could be heard from them.
Isabella looked around, absorbing the sight and sounds around her. The grass was a vibrant green and looked so soft. If they were just on a casual stroll, she would want to lay down in the soft grass. Birds chirped and flew overhead, enjoying the freedom Isabella wished she had. When the sounds of hooves could be heard, Evan jumped off his horse and hoisted Isabella into her saddle before quickly reclimbing into his. In one fluid motion, Evan was in front of her, Nathaniel and Alexander on her sides, and Mason at her rear. Her father's guard replicated the exact motion.
Isabella let out a soft gasp as a group of horsemen approached them. When they heard a surprisingly feminine voice, Evan moved their group forward. The man flanking her father moved so Isabella could ride next to her father. Isabella's Guard fell into formation with her father's men. "Thank you for greeting us. I am assuming we weren't followed," her father asked in a polite and diplomatic tone. "Lead the way."
Isabella looked at Evan with curiosity. He was always the one he turned to whenever she was nervous or confused. If she was brave and bold enough, she might even make a move on him one day. She had a feeling that he liked her but she was too innocent to do anything about it. "It's okay, Your Highness," he said in a soft voice next to her. "I believe we don't have much farther to go. The Valkyries will escort into the city."
Isabella nodded, wanting to trust what Evan said. However, she had a bad feeling that once they got to the city something bad was going to happen. She wasn't sure what. "I hope you are right, Evan." The horses began walking, following the ones that would lead them to the city. Isabella grew nervous and excited, she couldn't wait to see what the capital city of Balderia looked like.
The setting changes from The Baldarian Countryside to Halderia
The Valkyries moved in unison, keeping perfect formation and the royal entourage in the center, protected by their outer defense. As they road the grasslands of Baldara continued to show their beauty as flowers of all kinds were in bloom in vibrant colors of red, blue, lavender and yellow. At some points they covered the entire ground forcing the group to ride through them, kicking petals into the air and creating a beautiful flurry of colors. For over an hour they road towards the capitol, somehow cutting the time down until finally the city came into sight. The city of Azmir was a beautiful sight, white walls stood upon a ocean of green grasslands which could be seen for miles in every direction. Somehow the city appeared to having an aura like glow in midday light and made the city look even more beautiful. It was not a sight one might expect from a country of warriors yet here before them was a city with a majestic air about it.
As they passed inside through the gates the lead rider spoke, βYour highness's and company, welcome to Azmir. City of Tranquility.β She said. Inside the city was even more surprising, the great amount of houses were somehow spaced lose inside the city, giving the roads a wide enough space for two carts riding side by side and two lines of people to move through. The houses were built with care and even some grace, the roads themselves were white like the city walls, even large parks were in the city where festivals where held. Passing by the market there was an abundance of foods and wares for sale. Art made from quality material, well designed clothing of various types, food with aromaβs that teased the nose, livestock of a broad range, these and more filled the market as they passed through on the way to the palace.
The palace was also constructed with from the same white stone with architecture that was crafted with master builder quality. The pillars, steps and even the ground of courtyard were made with polished marble, giving the rest of the palace an even more impressive look. Statues of mythical creatures, some majestic, some awe inspiring and some terrifying stood within the walls and some in the center of the courtyard. All of this combined, if one had to sum up the city itself it was as if someone had told a man to make a city and instead he made a work of grand art. This was no surprise to the Baldarianβs whom there was more to them then meets the eye.
But to an outsider it was a great surprise.
As they approached the palace steps a woman with caucasian skin, black hair and red eyes was leaning against one of the pillars. She wore a white set of loose pants and some strange shirt similar to a tunic that opened from the front and was held closed by a belt. She pushed off from the pillar and walked down the steps, eyes narrow and her mouth in a confident grin, βI see you girls had fun.β She said with playful sarcasm. Almost at once the five horse riders removed their helmets and five female faces greeted those looking upon them, which confirmed they were indeed women, βOur mission was as just important as fighting on the front lines Momya.β The lead rider said as they all dismounted. She had platinum blond hair that looked near white and blue eyes. The woman named Momya snorted, βEscorting royals through a land so safe no men would dare to cause trouble in? Yes Wies Iβm sure it was.β She said. The lead rider, whether her name was indeed Wies or not, responded, βThe commander wanted to take no chances. Your lucky he took your feelings into consideration and let you stay behind.β Wies said.
Momya smiled a bit more, βThe commander knows how to use his people. Though I do thank him for his consideration. Now lets get you all out of that armor and into the training room, I need someone to fight and the commander is too busy waiting on them.β She said while nodding her head towards the Dallian royals, βMomya please, restrain yourself.β Wies said. She turned to the King and princess, βForgive my compatriot. If you please follow the servants they will take you to the meeting hall.β At this point a brown haired maid approached the royals and bowed, βGreetings you highness's, please follow me and Iβll take you the king and princesβ.β With that she stood, turned around and lead the group inside the palace to meet the royals of Baldaria.
Meanwhile, Isabella studied the Valkyries with curious blue eyes. She was fascinated that the Balderian king would send five women to be their protection. If she was honest with herself, she was almost a little envious that they could out and open about knowing how to protect themselves whereas she had to keep it a secret. Blue eyes darted to each woman as they shouted out that they were in position. Isabella could hear Evan mention something about their fluidity was impressive. When the lead rider shouted to the capitol, everyone moved in unison - including their own entourage.
Isabella was amazed at how in sync the Valkyries were and how well they kept formation. She recognized the unison from her own men. When you tried together for so long, you learned and picked up subtle cues. It also seemed like four became one. She tried adjusting and maneuvering so that she could see the passing countryside. Isabellaβs blue eyes went wide when they passed through the field with vibrant red, blue, lavender, and yellow flowers; the horses trotted through the weeds, sending petals into the air. Isabella closed her eyes as she tilted her head back, letting some of the airborne petals to land on her face, which in turn, elicited a giggle. Despite all that was going on, she still tried to be carefree for as long as she could and the King just looked over at his daughter with a soft smile on his face.
It seemed like they were never going to stop riding and Isabellaβs butt was growing more and more numb by the minute. Eventually, the city came into view. Seeing the city from a distance, gave Isabella a burst of energy and once more she grew excited, nearly bouncing in her saddle like a child, not a princess. βCalm yourself, Princess,β Evan said quietly next to her. Isabella took in a deep breath, as she observed the city that seemed like it was radiating light. She thought her own country and home was beautiful, but this? This was something else entirely; white walls stood high and bright amongst the green fields. βItβs so beautiful, she thought to herself as they reached the gates..
City of Tranquility? Isabella and everyone else could agree that there was something Tranquil about it. For a nation that had the best military in the country, it was hard to imagine their city being called the City of Tranquility. As they road through the city, it reminded her of home. Houses throughout the city and roads wide enough so that two carts could ride side by side, with enough space on either side for the people to get on with their day. The favorite part of the ride for Isabella was when they went through the market. She wanted to stop, mingle with the people, and learn about their culture. Trying the food, whichβs aroma permeated the air, would be a bonus. She wanted to stop and look at the goods, even purchase an item or two, but she knew that wasnβt on the agenda.
When they finally reached the palace, it reminded her even more of home with the white stone. However, their palace was much more open, which allowed the ocean breeze to push through the palace. She was shocked to see the mythological creatures that adorned the courtyard. If she wasnβt so fascinated, she would have been terrified. She imagined them at night, with the moon casting shadows on the ground. She wanted to shiver at just the thought. As they approached the palace, Isabella noticed a beautiful woman with black hair and nearly gasped when she saw the woman had red eyes. Howβ¦ unusual. As the woman spoke, everyone began dismounting their horses. Evan helped the princess out of the saddle before moving to rejoin her father.
βItβs beautiful here,β Isabella leaned over and whispered to her father who in turn agreed. Everyone watched as the women exchanged banter and Isabella was still fascinated that they women trained and fought just like the men did. If Dalla wasnβt a nation of healing and healers, she imagined women would train alongside men. Finally, Momya turned her attention to the King and his companions. The King nodded and smiled warmly at the woman. βShe is fine. Thank you for sparing your warriors to escort us safely to and through the city.β
Everyone then turned their attention to the servant, anxious to see if the inside of the palace was as beautiful as the outside, and Isabella was anxious to meet the King and Princesβ to see what all this was about.
Murals were painted on the walls and ceilings of similar figures and depicted events and stories told in an art format. Arched windows in the walls and a serious of windowed holes in the ceiling served not to just provide light but to also add ambiance to the hall. The maid lead the party through the hall to the door on the other side where the corridor walls were of the same marble as the hall. The floors were lined with with lush carpet of a rich crimson color. More murals along with tapestries continued the art like stories along the corridors while elegant torches provided light where windows were absent. Doors leading to rooms also had carvings in them though they had more focus on creatures and humans more than scenes from a story. While there were suits of armor and weapons the ambiance projected from the palace had a more tranquil feeling about it than a barbaric one.
The maid lead them through the majestic corridors to a set of double doors made from a ebony. Inside was a rather spacious room with a long table of fine wood. Chairs were set at either end of the table but unlike the rest of the room the table and chairs appeared not to be part of this room. The room shared the same decor as the palace with the exception of the carpet which was a deep indigo. But while the room was elegant and had a more relaxed feeling the table appeared to be out of place in this room. Almost as if it had been moved into this room for a purpose.
Inside were a few servants and only two guards were present in the room. But unlike the Valkyries these guards wore a rich robes of blue which fell down to their barley viable boots. Their helmets also shared a blue like tint with T like opening in the front and a horse haired cress adorning the top. Thought the T like opening allowed the guards to see their lower faces were covered with a blue cloth, preventing their identities from being known. From the slit in the side of their robes if one looked closely enough a silver like breastplate was visible, confirming these guards were not just ceremonial in appearance. On the other side two elderly men and two young men present. The two young men were no doubt the princes', Veloran and Alder Sinclair, though it was unknown who was whom for the moment. The Elderly one standing by the one of the young men was unknown but his uniform indicated him to be of great military importance, a captain or greater. The other Elderly man wore no crown but he needed none to be recognized as the King of Baldaria, King Isadore Sinclair.
βM'lord, the royal part of Dalla has arrived, the maid announced as she stepped aside to let them pass. King Isadore and his sons rose as they entered and moved to meet them in person, βKing Philip, it is an honor to have you here.β Isadore said as they closed the gap between their two parties.
