Your Role-player Name :: ReaperGirl4
Your View On Role-playing :: It’s a fantastic creative outlet. I’ve loved writing my whole life and once my friend introduced me to roleplaying, well, how could I resist? It’s awesome!
Your Idea of Character Development :: I believe that a character should develop based on who they are to begin with. Throughout the roleplay, they should change both according to who they are and who they’re around. They should change their outlooks based on what’s going on inside and outside, so to speak.
Your Estimate on Time Commitment :: I can post at least once every day to every two days.
Nick Name :: Liu
Age :: 16-going-on-17
Face Claim :: Ueto Aya
Nation :: Fire
Bender :: Yes
Height :: 5’ 8”
Weight :: 143
Eyes :: Brown
Hair :: Brown, with lighter highlights intertwined within
Physical Description :: Lien’s face is rather stunning. She has large, round chocolate eyes, with luscious dark eyelashes. She believes her eyes are the prettiest aspect of her face. Her lips are full, pink, and rather inviting. They have a certain shine to them. Her nose is slim and delicate, like many of her features. Her higlight-streaked hair is often cut short, as a frame for her face. Her neck is long and slim, leading to her lean body. Lien’s figure is and always has been rather petite, something she despises about herself. Her arms and legs are slim, yet hide some lean muscle within.
Identifying Factors :: She has a burn scar trailing down her back from an accident as a child, but that’s just under the clothes. One can recognize Lien by her signature stance: leaning slightly to the left, her head leaned slightly forward.
Quirks :: Lien, being a naturally violent person, thinks of the ways she could kill a person as a way to calm herself down. Surpirsingly enough, it works.
Personality :: Lien has, ironically, a fiery personality. Her temper is like hellfire. Pity the fool to anger her. Her fury has caused her to make enemies with many a person, and that is not good. However, she disregards the feelings of those she despises or despise her. However, if she thinks they’re worth it, she’ll... take care of the disturbance. For Lien is not a forgiving person, nor does she have much patience. She loves picking and winning fights, which she does often. One does not simply stand up to Lien Asano. She tends to be disdainful as well, deeming many people unworthy of conversing with her or interacting with any way. But don’t get her wrong, she’s not a complete snob. She’s actually pretty easily impressed. She loves a good laugh and, believe it or not, watching the sunset.
Fun Facts :: Lien is left-handed.
Likes :: Sunset, firebending, fighting, training, her sister
Dislikes :: Her grandparents, fradie-cats, rain, mud, annoying people
Family :: Fire Nation royalty. She lives with her parents, grandparents, and older sister.
History :: Lien always had an easy life, being born into royalty and all. Ever since early childhood, she had a raging temper. Her parents, seeing this, thought it best to keep her within the palace walls as much as possible. This included homeschooling. Despite the fact that her parents say it’s for the best, Lien always wanted to meet new kids, kids like her. The only other person around her age she could talk to was her older sister, Kyoko. Even that wasn’t enough. She wanted to meet new people. After expressing this desire with her parents, they came to a decision. She could go outside the palace for a few hours each day and mingle, but could not go to school there. It was good enough for her. However, sometimes her relationships went sour with others due to her hot temper. Because of this, she tries her best to keep it in check around her friends. She’s making some progress.
Her parents knew from the time that she was a small child that she would become a great firebender, with the proper training of course. So, they hired a professional, the best of the best, to teach her. It was a rather elderly woman named O-lan. She had discipline that matched Lien’s tempermental disposition perfectly. In short, she was one of the few people to earn her respect. O-lan taught her to channel her pent up emotions into her firebending, making it much more powerful and effective. Though she is all but a master herself now, it is still a technique she uses. Now that the Avatar has appeared, she plans to teach to him this method as well. It is, after all, one of the best.
Sample Post :: One day earlier…
Her face burned with the heat of a flame that she had just barely burned. Lien stumbled bakcwards, almost landing on her rear end. But before she could completely lose her balance, she planted her left foot behind her, solidifying her stance, brought back her fist, and with a powerful yell, she brought her fist forward with considerable force, bringing forth a large, billowing flame from the front of her knuckles. She lost sight of her opponent as the searing fire panned out in front of her line of vision. She allowed her self to relax, albeit slightly, as a bead of perspiration trailed down the side of her face from the intense training the morning had consisted of. The flame dissipated, leaving behind a considerably dark and murky haze that, in turn, evaporated, leaving the air between the opponents clear. Lien’s eyes widened a fraction and her eyebrows shot up in surprise as she beheld the elderly woman standing twenty feet away, dusting off her sleeve as though her attack had been nothing but slightly bothersome.
Lien broke her stance and stomped on the ground, her hands creating little arcs of flame that dissapeared within a moment and she swept them up and down in anger and frustration. “What the hell, Old Woman?!?!” she exclaimed, stomping up to her trainer, who had crossed her arms and wore a disdainful frown. “Do you realize you could have killed me just then? Huh?!?!”
The woman gave a half-amused half-annoyed sniff. “Unfortunately, your highness, that is not true. The worst I could have done was permanently scar your pretty little face. Don’t worry, princess. You’ll live.”
Lien was outraged. “But- but- How did you even dodge that? It was perfect!” To her chagrin, the old woman shook her head.
“If it was perfect, my lady, I wouldn’t have dodged it.” With this, she gave a small laugh and began to walk away, out of the training area. Lien wouldn’t have it.
“But-“
“Your stance was off, your yell was weak, the attack was pathetic overall,” the woman listed off her “flaws” without looking back. Lien promptly disagreed.
“That’s not true! It was perfect…” she trailed off as the old woman disappeared down the hall of the palace. That O-lan Lien growled and kicked at the ground, shooting flames from the tip of her foot. Firebending was a powerful outlet for her anger. For you see, Princess Lien Asano, second born child to Fire Lord Asano, had an extremely short temper and very little patience. It had been so since her early childhood, and so far Lien showed no sign of changing. It might have had something to do with her lack of social interaction as a child. Then again, it might just be the way she was born. Who knows?
Her short hair clung to her delicate face, as it was soaked with perspiration. Although she probably couldn’t anyway, O-lan disagreed with tying one’s hair back during training. During a surprise attack, she’d have no time to put her hair back. O-lan tried to simulate a real battle as much as possible. It definitely helped with Lien’s training. However, it did nothing for her overall attitude.
She left the room from a door opposite the one O-lan had taken. She made her way down the many, many halls of the Royal Palace and employed her memory to make her way to her room. The day after tomorrow, she would be meeting the Avater. The Avatar. Her job was to teach him Firebending. She had no idea how tough it would be, but she tried to convince her self that she was ready.
Lien leaned over the side of the old Imperial warship looking out over the seemingly endless sea. It used to be a warship, anyways. That was so long ago, in the time of the Great War. Now, it was nothing but a relic, an old reminder of past mistakes that the world as a whole had tried so hard to put behind them. It had been so long since the war itself, Lien didn’t even feel much remorse for the events that had taken place. She didn’t even feel a connection with her ruthless ancestor at all. So, she didn’t really care.
A sea breeze blew back her short brown hair as clouds rolled in. Thankfully, they were not storm clouds. Not like it mattered much. She looked up and caught sight of her older sister. She made no move to interact with her, but stood by and observed instead. Her older sister was much prettier. Much more skilled, too, when it came down to non-bending. Lien couldn’t weild a weapon to save her life. However, she was content that they both had their strengths. She was happy that her sister was joining her, too. What she was not happy about, however, was the possible reason. Lien had a gut feeling that Kyo was there to keep her in check. That she did not like and could not handle. Not one bit. However, there was also always the possibility that she could be going to teach the Avatar the ways of the weapon, if he so chose. However, it looked like Kyo was there to stay. Lien couldn’t exactly complain. She was very glad her sister was tagging along. It would be a good experience for the two of them, she knew.
At last, the grand, awe-striking Great Nation came into view. Lien made no change in her expression, though she was filled to the brim with excitement. It was all just a new adventure.
Morning. She was woken up by a servant who’d noticed she was about to oversleep. Thanking her and rushing to get dressed and look presentable, Lien, admittedly, had butterflies in her stomach. It was all so… exciting! She was going to meet and train the Avatar! She just hoped her vicious temper wouldn’t rear its ugly head… too much. It could be useful sometimes. Before she could ponder this, she was rushed into the Great Hall and seated in a particular chair. She was surpised she was there before her sister, but she greeted her enthusiastically upon her arrival. The exchanged greetings and a few jokes, then a hush fell across the room as the Avatar himself entered. Lien honestly had been expecting someone who appeared much more impressive. Oh well. Her adventure begins.
