Elise Govek's Story

Caleb had left the main room long before Cosmo had begun his story of magic books and spells. He lay on his bed that he'd been given when he came here a few weeks ago, and stared up at the ceiling. His stuffed Tiger sat in the crook of his arm, and he fiddled gently with the ring he wore on his right ring finger.

He sighed and sat up, turning so he could lean against the wall the bed was against, and so he could get more comfortable. Unable to do so, however, he sighed again, thumping his head against the wall with a thud. He picked up his stuffed Tiger and stuffed it in one of his jacket pockets, walking out of his room and back downstairs to where Cosmo had finished his little speech.

He let out a small scoff at Cecil's response to Cosmo's bringing him up. But whatever, he walked past the room to one of the other sitting rooms and found a comfortable chair to sit in, a book nearby. He tilted his head, and reached for it, curious as to its contents.

((OOC:: Don't forget to tag who is in your post, everyone; it lets the writer(s) know that you've posted about their character!))

Cecil had heard the scoff being directed at him. His eyes narrow as he watches Caleb walk by, considering whether he should trip him or not. Looking down at the sleeping girl with her head in his lap, he decides that she might be upset if she found out that he tripped someone. He grumbles under his breath and looks down at his phone. "You guys hear about the witches wandering the forest lately? It's a trend now apparently. Young witches come into the forest and do spells and shit."

His language earns a smack from the little girl who was previously asleep on his lap. Lucy yawns and sits up, frowning at him. "Don't say bad words! And I'm sure the witches are nice witches. Right?"

Cecil makes a face at her. "Dunno. Sounds kinda fishy to me. Y'know since most of us have useful abilities, someone's gonna come looking for us eventually. Could be one of those witches." He looks down at her, grinning, and wiggles his fingers menacingly. "Maybe they'll come for you, next, Lucy." This gesture causes some of the children to cower, but Lucy just giggles and pats his face.

{ ooc: oops! i forgot about that ;; sorry! }

Even if Rhys hates being among a lot of people, he loves hearing the older ones talking, so that's why he heard everything from the tale Cosmos spoke. Things that seemed like fiction, but he actually knew they were not. Magical and adventures stories were always his favorite ones.
He even clapped loudly when Cosmos had finished the tale, and his hand directly got to where he laid his pocket videogame. Rhys only has two games to play, and won the second in an internal contest with another child, but he played and played then for years. But the pocket videogame wasn't where it would be supposed to be.
"Where is it... where is it?" He was worrying in murmurings, the thinking speaking louder than he wanted to. The pocket videogame already were his best friend in the worse moments, like when he couldn't sleep, afraid of the storms and the strong thunderbolts.
"Where did I lose it..." he was even starting to cry.

Faye Chalmers

Faye sat quietly towards the back of the room as Cosmo told his story in the main room by the fire. The children gathered there had been listening intently. Faye had leant her head on her hands enjoying the tale. She loved stories of all kinds, she loved to read new tales in the many books that resided in this house. She especially adored the romance novels.
Her heart thumped for a moment as she thought of the stories she had read, all the main characters had a close companion, a lover, a mother, a father even a friend.

She sighed. She was too nervous to make any friends. Her books were her friends.

She brightened as Cosmo directed his attention towards Cecil. Sitting up a little bit Faye looked towards the boy as he sat comfortable with a younger girl on his lap. Lucy.

All this talk of witches made her a little uneasy.

She watched quietly as Cecil began to gather companions to his detective regime, Sapphire and Willow stood to follow. Seeing Sapphire's red cheeks made her smile. She wondered if she turned as red as that when embarrassed. It seemed like fun

Listening to the chatter around her Faye heard a slight tapping in the distance. It sounded almost like a knock at the door? Looking back at the group before her no one else seemed to have noticed it...

Oh no, I'm going to have to talk.

She gulped at the thought.

"Um.." she raised her hand to grab someone's attention. However as her hand lifted into the air it struck a nearby pot that had been sitting on a side cabinet. Before she could react it crashed with a loud shatter causing her to flinch and suddenly freeze her eyes quickly looking towards the floor.

Oh god are they looking at me? she wondered not daring to look up her hand still in the air afraid to move it back.

With another gulp she pulled her arm down and spoke "I - I think there's someone at the door." She said quietly tugging at the sleeves of her jumper embarrassed by her own clumsiness. A small shard had cut her hand as she pulled her jumper over it. She didn't want any more attention. It didn't hurt very much, not compared to... she pushed her memories away not wanting to remember.

Cecil, contrary to the notion the other members expected of him (that is, to throw Willow off of his arm), makes no movement to do so. He smirks slightly, but other than that, there's not much of an indication of a reaction. In truth, he does like Willow a great deal. For one thing, she acts so childish that she reminds him of a child, and he certainly has a sweet spot for those. For another, she turns into a cat, and he absolutely loves those.

Lucy, on the other hand, had ditched Cecil's side at the moment in search of someone better to spend her time with. She comes across Rhys, who she had noticed had almost started crying, and she ducks down slightly to be in his line of sight as he's looking down for his game. "Hey, what's wrong? You look really sad! What's wrong, what's wrong?"

When Sapphire steps over to the two of them, Cecil smiles, uttering some things along the lines of 'that's a good boy!' and 'you'll do just fine' before opening his mouth again to ask again if any others were willing to join him. It's then that Faye makes the comment about someone being there, and he looks toward her. The pot that crashes doesn't faze him in the slightest—rather, as soon as she opened her mouth, he expected something like this to happen. He looks down at the shattered pot briefly before his green-eyed gaze rests back on Faye, as some of the other residents were also doing.

"Someone? At the door? You think it could be a witch?" He shakes his head. "No. Unless a witch were pretending to be a wayward child—which I doubt they'd try to do in the first place—they would've tried to break in through the windows. That one'd be the easiest one to break through." He points towards the kitchen, and since that one seems to be the biggest, he'd be correct. He lowers his arm a bit to set Willow on her feet and he carefully untangles her arms from his. After about a half a minute of looking at the door, he says:

"Must be a wayward kid. And I don't think you talking was just a coincidence, either." The brunet casts a sideways glance at Faye, giving her a smile. "While your voice is lovely, you don't do that much, do you? Talk, I mean." His babbling probably doesn't make much sense, but he's using his ability. Assessing the situation. He tilts his head at the door. "Whimsical, maybe?"

Elise listened intently at Cosmo's story, and smiled when Cecil was mentioned. But, when witches came up, she began to feel uncomfortable. She was happy that Willow, Cecil, and Sapphire decided to investigate the area. It made her feel safer. Then, when everyone gathered to see the person at the door, she simply stayed seated in her chair. She didn't want to see this person, nor did she care. She actually was still getting used to having some of the newer children around, much less a new one.

While all of this continued to happen, Elise pondered on if she should talk to the newer children more. She knew for a fact that she was slightly scared. She began to think they would say she's crazy for her telekenetic abilities. Even so, she knew better than that. She set the thoughts aside.

Suddenly, she saw Dev and Gab walk into the room and sit at a table with a deck of cards. She watched them curiously as they began to play with them. After awhile, Lisi suddenly burst into the room with someone else beside her. Surely, Elise was startled by the noise Lisi suddenly made, but she recovered quickly. As Lisi explained what Dev and Gab's powers were in a very subtle way, Elise listened closely with interest. She loved using her powers, and she also wanted to demonstrate for the new kid, even if she wouldn't interact much with them after. She walked over to them and smiled, "May I demonstrate as well, Lisi? I'd love the new kid to see a variety of things that we can do." Elise silently waited for an answer.

(OOC: So I'm guessing the living room is the same as the main room? If not, just act as if she moved into the living room to get more comfortable or something.)

  1. Dev and Gab situation - They're showing off their powers to Ash like showmen. They inflicted a vertical but shallow arm wound on Lisi, then asked Elise if she wanted to be the closing act.

    by Alle9009
  2. Dennis situation - he agrees to obey Cecil and then reacts to getting hugged by Willow with mild panic, because suddenly not being able to see would cause panic in most people lol. Turned out his hat was covering his eye. After settling it he sends a questioning aura at Willow because he wasn't quite sure what she's talking about (he just asked with his emotional aura and used puppy-eyes lol) and after that, Cecil notices something. Dennis then wriggles out of Willow's hug (no longer a stuffed teddybear) and he heads to Sapphire's side, making it evident that he agrees with Sapphire and would like to help Cecil continue to look. Also he thinks they're going on a walk, which was why he wanted to come with them in the first place because late-night snow walks in a forest is probably pretty breathtaking. I dunno, I don't live in a place where snow is a thing so...

"Hah, royal flush! I win!" Devon placed his cards down with a grin as Gabriel groaned and slumped his head against the table. "Another round?"

"Sure, sure, just give me a second to shuffle," Gabriel said, gathering the cards together into a pile. He perked back up as he began to shuffle the cards, hands moving with finesse and expertise like a casino dealer, or more accurately a conman from the streets. "I'll win next time, just you wait!" He declared cheerily, ignoring Devon rolling his eyes with a fond smile. Before they could spread the cards, though, Lisi called out to them.

"Dev! Gab! This is... uh, well, they're a new resident here! And this is Devon and Gabriel! They're basically the doctors around here."

New resident! Devon and Gabriel turned their heads in unison. They saw Lisi dragging a kid who looked around fourteen with brown hair, who seemed a bit weirded out. Devon readjusted his spectacles and shot a welcoming smile at the boy - girl - person, while Gabriel placed the pack of cards down with a cheery smile that looked identical to his brother's, reaching up to tip his hat in greeting.

"Hi!" They said together.

"Do you guys think that you could show the new kid an example of your abilities? You could go ahead and use them on me if you need to!"

The twins exchanged a couple of looks. Even if it was only a couple of seconds, it seemed as if a whole conversation had passed in between them.

Dev raised an eyebrow. It'll hurt Lisi.

Gab raised an eyebrow back, shrugging. She volunteered, and I think it'll help out her pal there! Show them their not all alone and stuff. Why not?

Devon's eyes narrowed apprehensively, then sighed. Well... alright, fine. Just... nothing too much, ok? A light smirk touched his lips. Let's put on a show.

Gabriel grinned. Knew I could count on you bro. Would I ever make it boring?

Internal conversation done, they turned to face Lisi and the new resident with identical large grins, who was now joined by Elise. "We'll do it Lisi, just take a couple of steps forward. New kid, stay where you are." Gabriel instructed, gently guiding her forwards to the desired spot. Devon, meanwhile, took a step forwards towards Newkid, holding up the pack of cards in his hand like a microphone.

If they were going to do this, they were going to do this with style.

"Lady or Gentleman, girls and boy and hermaphrodite genderqueer kid, people of all ages!" Devon grinned welcomingly at Newkid and Elise, holding the pack of cards in his hand up to his mouth like a microphone. "Welcome to the Whimsical Residence for Wayward Children, where children of all ages gather! I, Devon Zarzuela, am your announcer for tonight! We here at the WRWC are proud to present our opening act - the amazing Zarzuelas! He stepped to the side as hewaved his hands jazz-style at Gab and Lisi, grinning. Gabriel grinned and bowed as if he was performing a show as Devon added Sponsored by Mr Cosmo, owner of the WRWC!"

"Thank you Devon, I'll take over from here! Gabriel Zarzuela speaking, the show is about to begin! As you can see, we have a girl from the audience to help with the act." Gabriel spread his arms out in a wide gesture, showcasing Lisi. He gently took hold of her wrist and held it up, showing it to Newkid and Elise with a flourish. "As you can see, her skin is smooth and unmarked, totally unblemished and unharmed! But wait!" Gabriel gasped theatrically, pointing to Lisi's arm. "Something's appearing!"

As he spoke, a small cut was appearing rapidly on the middle of Lisi's forearm, growing until it was a large but shallow vertical wound that spanned from wrist to the middle of her forearm as if an invisible knife had just sliced her skin open. It would be obvious to the spectators that there was no way that it had been created by any physical object. It wasn't lifethreatening, but it still looked pretty nasty. As they looked, blood began trickling thinly out of it, flowing down her arm.

"And now I pass the next part of the act to Devon," Gabriel said hurriedly, holding the arm still. Devon was already standing next to Lisi, ready to heal the wound.

"Don't worry, Lisi, it won't scar. Now watch as I make it go away! Y uno y dos y..." Devon pressed a hand reassuringly against Lisi's arm away from the wound, presenting it firmly to the audience so that they could see what happened next. It was almost as if time had sped up - the wound stopped bleeding, clotted and began to close up into a rapidly disappearing scar. Within seconds, there was nothing but smooth skin where the wound had been. "...tres." Devon finished, grinning at the Elise and Newkid. "As you can see, the wound has disappeared! Thanks for helping out as a demo, Lisi."

Gabriel tipped his hat off to her as Devon bowed like a waiter, and they both turned to the audience. "And that concludes our show! Thank you, thank you!" They bowed to imaginary applause as one; Gabriel bringing his hat in front of him, then they looked up with identical mischievous grins.

"So what do you think, Newkid?" Gabriel asked Newkid cheerily. At the same time, Devon turned to Elise with an equally cheery grin, asking "Want to be our closing act, Elise?"

Dennis blinked when Cecil allowed him to join, then nodded quickly, pleasure radiating off him like a cat who'd just seen salmon in its bowl. He really liked how pretty the snow was in the dark, especially in the forest...

The pleasure turned into surprise when something warm slammed against his back, arms enveloping him from behind and jostled his cap down over his non-bandaged eye. He radiated startled surprise at Willow and the others as he swallowed down sudden panic at not being able to see and blinked in the sudden darkness, trying to get an arm free from Willow's tight hold to get his hat out of his face. Dennis was so focused on wriggling an arm free that he didn't hear anything.

After some squirming, he freed an arm and pushed his hat back up firmly on his head. The white flakes blended into the white of Dennis's hat as they fell down onto the people outside, although it showed up well enough against his navy coat. He craned his neck around to look at her, confusion evident on both his face and the aura that generally surrounded him like an invisible transparent cloak. Teach you what? was the general thing she would feel from him.

Dennis wasn't quite sure what Willow was talking about. All he did was ask Cecil if he could join the late-night winter walk out, and Cecil agreed. He tilted his head quizzically at her, but then Cecil said something about finding somebody and Dennis turned back to face Cecil, curios as to what was going on.

Dennis tilted his head questioningly as Willow asked if something had happened, radiating confusion so palpable that one could see figurative question marks flying around his head. It was obvious that he hadn't heard anyone, but...

Dennis wriggled out of Willow's hug and walked over to Sapphire, standing next to him. Looking at Cecil and Willow, Dennis pointed at Sapphire and nodded emphatically, radiating an air of agreement. I didn't hear anything, but I agree with Sapphire. Then his aura turned questioning, and the words were clear on Dennis's face. I'll help you look if you want?

Before Elise got an answer, the twins already began their demonstration. Elise silently giggled at the way they anounced their abilities. Once it ended, she perked up at Devon's request for her to be the closing act. She smiled brightly. "Of course, Dev!" She started by breathing in. Then, she concentrated all her focus on one of the couches in the room. Suddenly, it began to float.

Elise made it circle around the room a couple of times before setting it back where it was. She smirked. "And there you have it! A wonderful performance by the great Dev and Gab with their humble assistant, Elise!" She bowed and waited for a reaction from the new kid. "Speechless, aren't you?" Although she had a pang of distrust hit her, she remained calm and friendly.

  2. Just in case I caused any confusion for my vagueness, Ash is mute, but they can put words in people's mouths, so to speak. Its a sort of passive mind control, as the person would just blurt out whatever Ash prompted them to. It wouldn't even register as a conscious thought to the person. I'll explain more if needed, just ask in the ooc forum or wait for me to add details in story. Again, I'm sorry if I was vague, it's an unusual ability to explain, at least for me.

They flinched back, when the pair playing poker suddenly turned to face Ash. Those two seemed to debate whether or not it was a good idea to demonstrate their abilities using Lisi, which made their stomach twist for some reason.

They took a step back when one of them headed towards them while Lisi finally was out of their personal bubble- so consolation was snuffed out before it could ease their sudden nerves.

And all of a sudden the two went carny mode, which almost made them overlook being called a hermaphrodite gender queer kid- just plain kid would've suficed and oh god he's cutting her arm open with his mind.

This isn't normal how is this normal how is she okay with this what is wrong with these people-

Their jaw slackened, and they didn't even register when the one that had neared them was already at Lisa's side, placing his hand on the injury, and healing it until it seemed as if a child's arm hadn't suddenly been sliced open by an invisible force.

They simply stared, dumfounded. They probably wouldn't have snapped out of it if it weren't for another girl that approached, wanting to show off as well.

And moved a couch around. Apparently also with her mind.

They were...okay with this? Compared to them, Ash felt like people reacted far too harshly for becoming a voice box. At least they didn't bloody cut the arm of a willing girl, or move a couch around. With their mind.

Ash stared at her- Elise?- before unintentionally prompting, "Well what the hell do you expect, idiotic clapping?

Elise was surprised by her sudden blurting out. Seeing as the new kid most likely has an ability, she figured it's what they were trying to say. She let it sink in for a moment. Startled by the new kid's sudden attitude, Elise flinched. Her face contorted into one of slight hurt. "You know, you could've just said 'Yes'. You don't have to be so rude!" She was quite surprised by them. She went out of her way to be nice and actually interact with them, but they just respond in a disrespectful way. Elise's eyes glossed over with a small amount of tears. After all, she was a little sensitive. Elise didn't want to be around the new kid any further. Their presence angered her, which only fueled her distrust more. The feeling she tries to not have rose up once more.

Their tone of voice reminded her of when she dissapointed her parents. She didn't like that memory. Just thinking about it made her face go red with both anger and fear. She bowed her head at Lisi and the twins before walking towards the doorway to the hall. She didn't look back at them as she said, "I'm going to bed. See you in the morning you three." Before leaving, Elise mumbled incoherently, "This is why I never bother with the new ones."

Once she made it back to her room, she changed into some more comfortable clothes and snuggled between her collection of stuffed animals, under the warm blankets of her bed. "Was I too harsh?" She held up a stuffed black rabbit in front of her. It stared back with its red, beady eyes, unresponding. Elise's face darkened a little. "Nah, they deserved it. You're totally right, Luna." Her breathing slowed and her eyes began to close. She yawned.

"Hm.. I wonder if they're a boy or girl.."

Lisi grinned happily as the twins agreed to showcase their abilities to the new kid. The sudden appearance of Elise proved to make the girl even happier as she offered to demonstrate her powers as well. Lisi knew that the younger girl didn't like interacting with the new residents very much, so her offer helped make the girl even more excited. "Of course you can demonstrate your powers Elise! I love watching you use them."

As Dev and Gab launched into their performance, Lisi happily obliged with everything they asked of her. It wasn't until Gabriel grabbed her wrist that a tiny bit of anxiety rushed through her. 'It'll be fine!', she reminded herself, 'It's not like they'd seriously hurt me or anything!'. Holding back the slight flinch she felt when Gab started cutting her arm, she casually looked up at her arm to find a bit of a shocking scene.

Lisi hadn't expected them to make a cut quite so large. Sure, the new child needed to be able to see it, but she had thought that it'd be a bit smaller! Attempting to look unfazed, she looked back at the others and gave a wobbly smile. However her eyes widened a few seconds later when she felt the warmth of blood dripping down her arm. Was it supposed to be bleeding that much?!

She gave Devon a frail smile at the comment that the cut wouldn't scar, and watched with relief as he began to heal the wound. When all was done and over with, Lisi let out a silent sigh of relief. She didn't want to make the others think that she didn't trust the twins, but that turned out to be surprisingly nerve racking for her! Letting out a cheerful, "No problem!" at the boys thanks, Lisi then turned her attention to Elise in order to watch her display.

She grinned and clapped excitedly as the quiet girl began to lift up a couch with her mind. There were certainly times when Lisi wished that she had abilities of her own. But it was times like these when she felt that she was actually lucky not to have any, since she got to appreciate the other kids abilities even more.

After the couch had been set down, Lisi heard Elise ask the new kid what they thought. She was about to explain to her that they had still yet to speak, but things ended up getting out of hand before she could. Elise had become offended and was now snapping at the unnamed child. Lisi was surprised, she didn't see the timid girl angry very often. She was about to rush over and comfort her when the girl suddenly rushed off to her room. Lisi wanted to chase after her, but she couldn't just leave the new resident alone. Cosmo had assigned her to take care of them.

Deciding that she'd go check on Elise later, Lisi then turned her attention to the new child. "I'm so sorry! This is all my fault! I should have explained what all of their powers were before hand so that you wouldn't have been so surprised." Looking down, the pink haired girl felt her eyes growing moist as she began to play with her fingers. "There's really nothing to worry about. All of the children here are very good people, nobody here would use their powers for anything bad!" Looking up now to make eye contact with the brunette child, a new determined look had taken the place of her tears. "There is absolutely no reason to be scared of any of the people here! Their abilities may be a bit frightening at first, but I would trust each and every one of them with my life!"

Nodding as if resolute, Lisi looked expectantly at the new child, as if she was waiting for them to say something. Recalling the fact that the child seemed reluctant to talk, if they could at all, an a idea suddenly popped into the girl's head. Rushing out of the room, Lisi threw a quick, "Stay right there!" over her shoulder as she rushed up the Residence's stairs.

Running through the hallways, Lisi didn't stop until she reached her room. Quickly bursting through the door, she spent no time looking around as she rushed to her desk and grabbed some of her stationary and a blue sparkly gel pen. Closing the door on her way out, Lisi then rushed back down stairs and came to a stop in the living room once more.

Panting, Lisi held out the pink stationary to the new child, handing over the pen as well. "T-this way you... can communicate with us without having to actually... talk." She exclaimed, still slightly out of breath. "Go on, tell us anything you'd like us to know!" She smiled reassuringly at the child in front of her.

Aya's eyes widened slightly as she heard Caleb yawn. Hadn't he yawned earlier as well? She couldn't help the feeling of stupidity that suddenly washed over her as she watched the boy lounging on the chair. Of course he was bored, who wouldn't be bored in this situation. All that she had done this whole time was slightly insult him and then proceed to ask him what she should name her foxes. Of course he didn't care, he probably didn't even want to be here!

Aya's face noticeably scrunched up as she loudly cleared her throat. "Sorry. You're right, they're my foxes. I shouldn't have bothered you with silly things like naming them..." Shrugging, Aya looked down at the ground and began to draw random patterns on the floor with her finger. "It's just that... I don't really talk to people very often, so maybe I got a bit too excited."

She was making herself look so weak, she had told herself that she wouldn't ever talk to people like this. But, Caleb didn't really seem like the type to make fun of her or go off spreading rumors, so maybe it was ok. Well, even if he did, she'd just have to deal with it when it happened. No need to worry about it right now.

Standing up from her spot on the ground, Aya awkwardly looked up at the older boy and mumbled, "I can go if you want, you seem pretty bored. I know that I'm not very good at making conversation..."

Ash wasn't surprised at her reaction. She seemed more bothered by what was prompted instead of the fact she had been prompted. Her eyes had welled in tears, obviously deeply offended. What a shallow girl, to not even have noticed that they were suddenly overwhelmed by the entire situation- a house in the middle of nowhere, people with far more obvious abilities than their own, who feigned kindness quite poorly when it was more clear they simply wanted to show off.

Well, if anything, it showed that it was mildly safe, if they willing to shamelessly flaunt such abilities.

Their attention was diverted by the sniffling girl, who all but stormed out of the room, muttering none too quietly to herself.

Well, for what mattered, Lisi seemed to be aware of the mistake of showing too much too soon without much context. She apologized quickly, attempting to explain that, despite their abilities, they were harmless.

The people here were probably also incredibly shallow, but if that were the case, they probably wouldn't have to worry about people trying to invade their personal space, like Lisi. But she didn't seem stupid, judging how she immediately identified the problem instead of pissing and moaning that they could maybe try to be nice by humoring others with lies even if the past event left them a bit shaken. At least she had that in her favor.

She then left the room, telling them to wait- as if they could do anything else, aside from turning on their heel and leaving the house- and she soon returned with a pen and stationary.

This actually surprised them. Their scowl softened to a more puzzled expression as they took the objects. They actually did know sign language, but often would make people turn away from them after messing with them, forcing them to say things as if they were mere ventriloquist dummies, even if they didnt catch on that they were being used. Ash hadn't been messing with these people, they were genuinely shocked at the whole situation and slipped, but even so, Lisi wanted to have a conversation.

My name is Ash Canary. I don't see why you bother wanting to talk to me they wrote.

Faye Chalmers

Faye smiled to Cosmo as he fixed the pot she had broken. She was grateful someone could repair her clumsiness so easily.
As she picked up the now fixed pot and placed it back where it belonged, very carefully, afraid it would fall again, she listened as some of the children began to leave for their witch hunt.

She frowned as Cecil left with them, she hoped they would be okay. It was awfully cold outside after all.
Quietly she moved towards the fire to contemplate the events. Has someone made her talk back then? It puzzled her so as she lifted her hands towards the warm fire.

It was then that Lisi brought in the new child, the one she had heard knocking at the door. Faye watched as the twins Dev and Gabe performed their act. She giggled at their eccentric performed and found herself amazed. She was always amazed at the gifts the other children had. Far better than hers, all she could do was walk up walls, as though gravity wasn't an object for her. However when she heard Ash's hard remark to Elise she frowned. It wasn't very polite of the boy to do such a thing.

Suddenly Willow burst into the room shouting about someone being cold? Cecil returned with Sapphire and few companiogns, to her horror a young boy was carried in on Sapphires back. Everyone began trying to keep him warm.

Faye knew she had to help, as Lisi gave the unconscious boy her hat Faye ran past her out of the main room. Skipping the stairs as they would take too long she jumped and connected her feet with the wall running along its surface adjacent to the floor. She hurried quickly to her room. Upon reaching the door she dropped down from the wall and burst into the room.

"blanket... blanket.." she muttered to herself rummaging under her bed. "ah!" she exclaimed upon finding her favorite gray one. It was fluffy and had been with her since she was only 6. It was one of her most treasured possessions, it was the warmest thing she owned. Bundling it together in her arms she quickly left her room and ran back down the stairs along the walls.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs Faye jumped back onto the floor and ran head first into the main room. "oomph!" she rasped as ran straight into something solid knocking her back a few steps. Rubbing her head she looked up to see what she had ran into to find a stranger standing there. He had bright orange hair and a fox was sitting beside him. He wasn't very tall, but then she wasn't very tall either. In fact taking a look he was about the same size as her.

"ah - um I'm so sorry! are you okay?" she said rubbing her head still as she felt her cheeks began to heat up. She was going red from the embarrassment she could feel it.

"I-I wanted to give this to- t-to the boy over there - I-I thought it would help - I was in a rush - I'm sorry" she said stumbling over her words nodding towards the unconscious boy near the fire and gesturing the Gray blanket in her arms. It appeared Dev and Gabe had already looked him over to Faye's relief.

"I-Is he Okay?" she asked peeking around the newcomer to get a better look at the unconscious boy.

Elise woke up like most of the others to a sound of.. glitching? This didn't usually happen. Cosmo's magic most of the time was intact. Elise got up out of bed and pulled on the white sleeves of her nightgown while she held Luna in her arms, long, pink hair framing her face. She walked out of her room and heard loud knocking. She decided to see what was going on. She walked upstairs to see Lucy knocking on Cecil's door with a stuffed rabbit, almost like hers, in her arms. She strided tiredly over to Lucy as she rubbed her eyes. "Luce? What's going on? Is Cosmo's magic.. glitching?"

She waited alongside Lucy for Cecil to open his door. She was scared, and wanted to get answers. After all, Cecil of course knew what was going on.

Willow || Sapphire Wynters || Corvus

Willow, who had sometime in her sleep rolled off the couch and turned unwillingly back into her human form, jolted awake at a funny feeling, the hairs on her neck standing up. She hissed somewhat, sounding very cat-like despite her current form. Sitting up straight, she blinked a few times, quickly glancing around and not noticing anything particularly odd, she turned to watch the sick kid to see if he was alright, tuning out nearly everything else as she did so.

Meanwhile, Sapphire had stirred from his sleep, the blue-haired teens eyes snapping fully open as he watched the ceiling go fuzzy above him. Quickly, he got himself ready for the day, haphazardly throwing together an outfit before leaving his room. Half running, he moved through the area, wanting to check if Cosmo was alright. As far as Sapphire could remember, it wasn't the first time something like this had happened, though those thoughts didn't stop the former thief from worrying.

On his way, he passed Lucy and Elise, pausing for a moment to ruffle the both girls' hair as Lucy knocked loudly on Cecil's door. Absently he noted that Cecil now had a roommate in the form of one of the new kids, likely the orange-haired brat. Corvus, huh? The name suited him, there was something almost dark about the person and the name. Stopping with his fussing over the two girls, Sapphire carried on heading toward Cosmo's office, where he hoped the man was at this time in the morning.

Like Corvus had suspected, he hadn't slept at all the previous night. He had stayed in his room until he was certain that most people were asleep and then at around four that morning he had slipped out. Exiting the front door, the short male found himself sitting next to a patch of flowers. He absently brushed one of the petals lightly before he had engrossed himself in his journal once more.

An hour or so later, something seemed wrong. His eyes snapped away from his book and the orange-haired teen frowned as he saw something fuzzy. Was something wrong with Cosmo's wards? Corvus shook his head. It wasn't his problem, if something happened then something happened, until that point he would stay outside and hopefully avoid other people for the time being.

The door to Ash's room creaked open, and they slowly peeped into the hallway. It was pretty quiet, except for the sound of someone banging on the door, but it was just on one door, and it didn't seem like an emergency. They closed the door behind themself, their bare feet making little spicky sounds as they began to tip toe downstairs.

They weren't necessarily doing it to be quiet, they just walked like that when they were barefoot. When they wore shoes they tended to drag their feet a little bit. They weren't sure why, it had always been that way, almost as long as they had been able to prompt people. They passed the source of the distressed knocking on their way to where they hoped was the kitchen, ignoring the girls as they recognized Elise, really not wanting to deal with her in case she demanded an apology.

I wonder if they're even making breakfast yet...

  1. Dennis is sleeping like a well-fed baby despite the glitching going on. It's revealed that Dennis is a serious sleepyhead to the point that not even a nuclear strike might wake him up, although a spike of anger or urgency directed at him might do the trick. Dennis is also grumpy when he's not getting enough sleep, which is bad news for just about anybody without an emotional barrier.

    by Alle9009
  2. Also Dennis slept on Rhys's game console once. He didn't wake up even when he fell onto the floor, haha. Truly a sleeper of epic proportions.

    by Alle9009
  3. Jaz's fever went down about 6 degrees, and is now at 37.8 degrees celsius. Still a pretty bad fever, but not too bad compared to before. He's still out like a light.

    by Alle9009
  4. Dev and Gab, however, are very much awake and worried about what's going on. Also they took pics of Jaz despite Oliver's protests - just asked one of the kids for a camera and viola! Devon's headed off for Cecil and Gabriel's headed for Cosmo's (meets Sapph along the way) to get answers, although they both have an inkling on what's happening. There's a sense of foreboding in the air they're trying to ignore...

Normally, it was really hard to wake Dennis up. If there was a model selected for the representation of 'sleepy head' in the dictionary, Dennis's sleeping face would be in the picture. The blonde boy tended to sleep in till noon during the weekends and his days off school, and even after he woke up he was like a caffeine addict gone without coffee for a week. He'd shuffle around with his eyes shut early in the morning like a zombie, narrowly avoiding banging into walls and people through sheer luck, and even after washing his face Dennis seemed only marginally more awake - people would have to regularly nudge him awake so that he didn't fall asleep again and land face-first into the sink or his breakfast or lead him in the proper direction lest he sleepwalk in the wrong direction. Dennis would only truly wake up after a good hour or so, spending the first hour in a hazy daze he only barely remembered.

In short, waking Dennis up was like trying to wake a hibernating bear, only without imminent death and less fur.

Rhys would probably know, seeing as Dennis had once slept on his gaming system during the holidays. It had been an accident, but that meant nothing when the sleeping kid wouldn't budge. Blanket pulling, setting a blaring alarm in his ear for five whole minutes, shaking Dennis so hard that his head bounced back and fro like a bobble-head in a car on a bumpy road; they were of no use. Dennis merely snored his way through it and only a lucky dodge prevented Rhys from being cuddled like a teddy-bear. The drop to the floor didn't wake him up either - he just curled up into himself without ever opening his eyes.

Which was why when the rumble happened, Dennis merely curled into his blanket a little tighter than usual, looking like a cocoon with a tuft of golden hair sticking out from the top.

Jaz didn't wake either, merely stirred at the shakes. The boy was no longer draped in multiple blankets like a dead body covered in offerings. Instead, he was covered neck to toe in a dark navy blanket, with a hot water bottle at his side. The brunette was still flushed, exhaustion lining his face and a slight furrow on his brow that made him look guarded even in sleep, but it was evident that his fever had gone down, even if it was still there. His skin was no longer burning hot to the touch and was instead a healthy pink color, and he was no longer shivering in his sleep.

Dressed in a pale white jumper that was a size too large for him and loose pants, Jaz looked infinitely young against the sheets on the couch that made up his bed. He looked like the child he actually was, small and vulnerable in the morning light. Still exhausted from the ordeal, Jaz woke up just enough to notice that he felt warm and turned over to face the couch, falling back into sleep almost immediately.

Devon and Gabriel, on the other hand, were already very much awake when the quakes happened. Looking up from the book he was reading on the bed, Devon shot a worried look at Gabriel, who had been sifting through the photos they'd taken last night. They shared a look of concern. Gabriel jerked his head towards the window, and Devon stood up and walked towards it, taking a look outside.

Where there had been nothing but white snow the night before, there was now a whole slew of stakes surrounding the house. They were obviously Cosmo's - the weird impish heads were pretty much his style - but why? Did it have anything to do with the quakes, the feeling of magic glitching?

Or maybe....

Gabriel was the first to speak up first, breaking the tense silent between them. "Do you think...? he asked uncertainly, as if not quite daring to finish the question. The photos he'd been grinning over moments ago hung loosely in his hands, half-falling onto the table Gabriel's elbow was resting on.

Devon shrugged tersely, knowing what Gabriel was referring to. "Maybe. Maybe not." He said, leaning against the window. His eye's narrowed, and he bit his lip before attempting a smile. "I hope not. We'll have to check with Cecil. But it'll be ok - we're here together, after all."

"Yeah. Yeah!" Gabriel brightened, shooting a smile back. In a sudden burst of energy, he stood up, joining Devon at the windowsill, nudging his shoulder comfortingly. "You can heal, and if anything happens I'll destroy them with my powers," he said cheerfully, cracking his knuckles. It sounded more like an attempt to comfort himself and his brother. "Mr Cosmo's is really powerful too, so nothing would happen anyway. Right?"

"Right," Devon said, nudging Gabriel back with a small smile on his face. They both shot each other a smile as they stood up, ready to start the day. "Even if something happens, we'll survive together. But-"

"We should check with Mr Cosmos just in case." They said in unison, heading out of the door despite still being dressed in their PJ's. Well, it was more a shirt and a pair of shorts, so it wasn't that bad. When they saw that Lucy and Elise were already waiting outside Cecil's room, the two shot each other a glance before sharing a nod and going different ways. Devon strode to join Lucy and Elise beside Cecil's door, while Gabriel headed upstairs towards Mr Cosmos.

"Lucy, Elise, morning." Devon called, raising a hand in greeting. He ruffled their hair briefly before leaning against the wall beside's Cecil's door, making sure that he was opposite the hinges. He raised an eyebrow questioningly at them, crossing his arms against his chest. "You guys felt it too?"

"Ah, Sapphire." Gabriel blinked in surprise at the sight of the blue-haired boy before plastering a smile on his face. He walked up towards Sapphire's side, joining him on the route towards Mr Cosmo's room. "Morning! You checking with Mr Cosmo's about it too?" he asked cheerfully, slipping his hands inside the pockets of his shorts. Despite the cheerful tone and smile, there was a serious look in his eyes that indicated that he wasn't as carefree as he appeared to be.

Cecil had slipped on real clothes as he watched the window, noting that Corvus was outside, and by the look on his face, he must've been there for a while. His attire is casually extravagant as ever—a white button up shirt with a black vest, black puffy pants that cinch at the knees, and black transparent leggings under them and his loafers. On his shoulders sits a khaki coat, which seems to be the only pop of color in the outfit aside from the red slouchy bow tied around his neck. The brunet opens the door, slipping the coat onto his shoulders again—it appears his arms aren't through the sleeves, and he's wearing it more as a cape.

"I seem to have attracted quite the crowd, then." He says, dully. He blinks his eyes slowly and adjusts his glasses, looking over the crowd before him, before another glitch happens, and Cecil's hand phases through the door frame for a moment. "We should get downstairs. If we're up here and the floor disappears for even a second, that'll be bad for us—especially up here in the Wayward Plane. C'mon, everyone." He steps out of his room, grabbing his bag on the way out, and slings it over his shoulder. He closes the door behind him and turns on his heel to walk down the hallway, throwing his next words over his shoulder:

"We have witches in our midst."
Lucy nods in response to Elise and Devon, frowning deeply. "His magic is sick! It's sick! It's really sick!" She looks really worried. When Cecil exits his room, she perks up a little, but his news just scares her even more—witches? So they really are real? She frowns and hurries up to catch up to Cecil, grabbing the back of his flowing coat.
Cosmo squints at all his wards, wondering if they'll do the trick. He puts his face in his hands momentarily, letting out a long sigh, before he hears a knock at his office door. He lifts his head and turns toward the door, blinking confusedly through his shaggy bangs. It couldn't be... a witch, could it? He shakes his head, reminding himself how ridiculous his own idea was, and he waves his hand high into the air.

"Come in, come in! The door's open—just come right on in!"

Willow || Sapphire Wynters || Corvus

At the sight of Jaz stirring, Willow perked up a little though soon pouted again once it became clear that he didn't really wake up. Tilting her head to the side, she turned back into her cat form before moving off to find something more interesting to do. Maybe she could grab a couple of her things from her room? Surely there was something there she could do?

Happy with her plan, the cat-girl headed toward the stairs and after climbing up them she ran quite literally into Cecil who seemed rather serious. Staring up at him, the small cat silently wondered what was going on. Was something wrong maybe? No longer interested in finding her toys, the girl decided to follow the group, though she would stay in this form for now.

The sound of someone mentioning his name had the blue-haired teen blinking a couple of times and he turned, smiling as Gabriel caught up with him.

"Morning! You checking with Mr Cosmo's about it too?" Inclining his head in response to this, Sapphire frowned a little, anxiety clear on his face.

"Yeah. Figure I'd see if he was alright, and maybe if I could help in any way." He spoke no more after that, instead opting to travel in silence. Open reaching the man's office, Sapphire reached up to knock, opening the door at Cosmo's response.

Stepping inside, he glanced back at Gabriel for a moment before facing Cosmo again. "I. We were wondering if everything was alright. Is there something we can do?" The blue-haired teen bit his lip nervously, wanting to say something further but unsure if it would be a good idea. His past and his particular talents would make him a good choice to send out to scout the area, but while Cosmo knew his past, Gab didn't, and he hardly wanted to bring up his former profession to those who didn't already know.

Corvus had frowned as the part of the residence housing the bedrooms went fuzzy again. He had heard some of the closer animals panic a little over it, as they had with each previous occurrence of this. It was almost enough to warrant his concern, but the teen wasn't really sure he wanted to head back inside where people were bound to be awake by now. Surely they could take care of it themselves?

And so the orange-haired teen stayed put for the time being, though he was noticeably more tense than before, keeping an eye on the building and listening to the chatter of the nearby animals. One more incident and he would head inside. If it was necessary he would offer his assistance, but he hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Honestly, it wasn't too hard for Rune to see that the witches were planning something. There was something about the way they acted now that was different from the days beforehand, though he couldn't quite tell how exactly.

He had been locked up again, though with the witches now focused on a new task that was hardly a surprise. What was a surprise was that they had left him without a guard for once. Usually they took it in shifts to make sure that the brown-haired teen wouldn't try to escape. He almost smiled at the opportunity. Almost.

Whatever it was they were planning, it had to be big given the ruckus it was causing. So Rune would bide his time and wait.

He had waited for six years already after all, a little longer would hardly hurt.

Witches. Knew it! Instead of a feeling of celebration, Devon's brow creased as worry fluttered through him, foreboding settling into his stomach like a rock at the bottom of a pond. This... was really bad. Slipping his hands into his pockets, Devon walked past Elise and followed Cecil down the stairs, strolling a few steps behind him. Normally he'd chide Cecil and check up on his physical health whenever he found out that the guy wasn't eating, but today he was silent. As they made their way down the stairs the house shook again, and Devon worked to keep his balance, leaning against the wall for support.

"Don't worry, Lucy," he said, giving her shoulder a comforting pat. He grinned down at her, lips curving upwards and creasing his eyes in an effective mask that hid his unease. "If the witches come we can protect everyone in this house. You know Bryson can create barriers, and Megan can make fire! Rakai can pull his magical tricks on any witches who come, with Zander acting as an amplifier to help us if the going gets tough. Even Seth can help with his slingshot, and you can help keep everyone calm." He grinned at her, adding determination to his words. "Any witches coming at us will never be able to stand up to the residences of the WRWC!"

"Heya, Willow." He said, forcing cheer into his tone as Willow bounded up towards Cecil. She seemed to be wearing clothes this time. Most people in the house had gotten so used to seeing her naked that more often than not they just kind of forgot to register it - or at least Devon and Gabriel did. Devon wasn't sure whether the others where the same. "Coming to check what's up too? Word of warning -" he said, lowering his tone conspirytedly, looking around exaggeratedly as if looking for eavesdroppers, "Witches. Shhhh. Don't alarm the others."

Gabriel filled the silence up between him and Sapphire with meaningless chatter, his voice distant as if his mind were elsewhere. When they approached Mr Cosmo's door Gabriel's mouth snapped shut, causing the silence to loom in deeper than before; a veritable gulf that he didn't quite dare to break. He quietly followed Sapphire in, coming to a stop behind the older teen with a blank smile on his face, slipping his hands into his pockets in an attempt to prevent himself from fidgeting.

When Sapphire asked if there was anything they could do, Gabriel's blank smile turned into something more real, a faint gleam of happiness as he realised something. "If it's got anything to do with beating people up Devon and I could help." he offered, bringing a hand out of his pocket to wave it at them, reminding them of his power. Uknown to Sapphire, both he and Devon had spent enough time outside to know a thing or two about fisticuffs, especially Gabriel. "Or we can both play defence, if that's the plan."
