Cecil squints at Corvus, who had admitted to wanting a place to stay now. He feels a little silly after getting on his ass a second ago, but it can't really be helped. Cosmo, on the other hand, smiles and clasps his hands together. "That's wonderful, Corvus! I had a feeling you'd relent some day, you see, so I decided that you can have the room adjoined to Cecil's! I see that the two of you have already become acquainted."

Cecil's eyes shoot open. "Wh-What...? I... I told you I didn't want a roommate. I wanna turn that room into an office—I wanna keep it empty, and I can't if... if he's there!" He stomps his foot, crossing his arms. It looks like he's throwing a temper tantrum, just like a child. He looks over to Corvus and narrows his eyes. "Maybe if you had accepted sooner, that room would still be open."

Cosmo waves his hand in the air. "Don't worry, don't worry! It won't be so bad! And if you really want an office, you know, I can just give you a projection portal to an empty shop in town!" He claps his hands together, floating into the air. "Cecil, Cecil, if you will, please escort Corvus to his room! We'll do more in-depth introductions tomorrow!"

The brunet looks over at the redhead and grimaces, then turns on his heel toward the stairs. "Whatever. Follow me, Corvus." He says, saying the name as if it were something unsavory.

Corvus

"That's wonderful, Corvus! I had a feeling you'd relent some day, you see, so I decided that you can have the room adjoined to Cecil's! I see that the two of you have already become acquainted."

Raising a brow, Corvus tilted his head to the side as the brunette - apparently named Cecil - started spluttering about wanting to turn the room into an office. After being told to show him where the room was, Cecil then turned to face the stairs. "Whatever. Follow me, Corvus."

A smile tugged at his lips as he followed the brunette, only stopping to let the fox out of the house. Upon catching up again he decided to say something. "You know, I'm not going to be using the room much. If you want to turn it into an office it won't bother me, not as if I'll be using it to sleep."

He followed in silence after that and once outside the room that now had his name on, he turned, reaching up to grab the collar of Cecil's vest and pull him down so he could whisper something to the taller teen. "I'm not quite sure why you dislike me, and to be honest I don't care to find out your reasons." Here his lips formed a smirk. "But the last person who annoyed me... Well, it took several people to stop me from knocking the rest of his teeth out, hmm? I don't think he could talk properly for weeks."

Letting go of the brunette, Corvus opened the door to what was apparently his room. "Let me know if you still want this as an office, hmm?" With that the orange-haired teen closed the door behind him.

Just inside, he sank to his knees, pulling a small book out of his coat pocket. Rereading the first page once more, it was only then that he let the tears escape from his eyes, smile turning bitter. "Welcome home, Orion..."

Hopefully the world would look better in the morning.

  3. Lucy's scared! And so the reasonable thing to do would be to bang on Cecil's door loudly & incessantly until he opens up.

    by cybernekokaito
  4. Cosmo tries his best to counteract the witches' power.

    by cybernekokaito
  5. (It's to be noted that one witch would not do this. It takes a group of witches to be able to set something like this off, and Cosmo set about two wards outside, which would be enough to ward off four witches from disrupting the magic. However, that's the extent of the ward's magic. A witch, if possessing a magic book, would be able to see the Residence [though not enter without the presence of a special key], and interact with the outside of it [ie touch the door, ring the doorbell, look in through the windows, pick the flowers, etc]. Also, if there are any more than four witches, the glitching will continue the closer the witches get.)

Oliver yawns as he makes his way down the stairs, stretching. As he stretches, a few vines slither down his arm and to his fingers, and once he finishes, the vines disappear. His power seems to react on its own to his body sometimes, and there's little he can do to control that. Once at the bottom of the stairs, he looks around. It doesn't seem like anybody is up yet... at least, nobody is downstairs yet. His blue eyes slide over to the clock above the fireplace—5:00 am. Breakfast isn't until seven, so as a routine, he wakes up extra early to collect vegetables with Resi. The dirty blonde boy walks over to the window and peeks outside. The sun is shining... that's something that hasn't happened too much these past two days. He smiles.

It seems there's a calm between the blizzard.

Pleased, Oliver steps into the kitchen, knocking on the wall before he enters. "Resi? Are you in? I'm all ready to go!"

Right after he speaks, the floor shakes a little, and the door frame he had his hand on vibrated. He widens his eyes a little, shocked. Is Cosmo's magic... glitching?
--
Cecil, on the other hand, is most definitely sleeping in. Yesterday was too much for one day, and he feels he's rightly deserved to sleep in. His eyes open slightly when he hears a strange noise—something like glitching almost. He sits up, rubbing his sleepy eyes, and casts his gaze upward toward a corner of the ceiling, where he sees the glitching happen. "Ah... Cosmo must be having trouble. Wait... if Cosmo's having trouble, doesn't that mean there's..." he frowns slightly, glancing toward the window in his room. All windows in every room inside of the Wayward Plane give off the same view, since there's only one window in the tower. The wannabe detective debates whether he really cares enough to figure out what's going on enough to interrupt his sleep. After a few moments of internal struggle, he sighs and rolls out of bed, shuffling over to the window.

It's a nice day today, but... something about the forest air seems off. This sort of observation, mixed with the fact that Cosmo's magic is 'glitching,' must mean one thing and one thing only.

"So the rumor about the witches was right."
--
Lucy, who had been snoozing away surrounded by her large and fluffy stuffed animals, had also been awoken by the glitching. She sits up abruptly, frightened. Whenever the warlock's magic 'gets sick' (as she calls it), she gets worried. The tiny girl hops out of her bed, slips into her bunny slippers, and hurries out the door, carrying a large bunny rabbit stuffed toy. Her feet take her quickly down the stairs some, to a platform, before she runs up another flight of stairs to Cecil's room. She begins knocking on the door loudly, yelling for Cecil to open up. It wouldn't be surprising if her loudness had roused Corvus from the next room
--
Cosmo had been noticing the glitches more than anyone. It doesn't hurt, but he does feel jolts of uncomfortable sensations every time his magic is interrupted. Seated at a window in his office, he taps the glass occasionally, and beams of something float through the window and strike the ground, as if he were putting wards up—which is exactly what he is doing. The wards are shaped like purple sticks sticking out from the ground with purple and pink cartoonish imp heads donning the top, almost like a decorative piece. But they aren't simply decorative, no.

They're mostly to guard the Residence against a barrage of witches, but he isn't quite sure how many there are. He silently hopes this number of wards will do.

Ash jolted awake. They felt as if the ground under them had shifted. An earthquake? They remembered how uneasy their mom became whenever there was an earthquake- well, any sort of disturbance made her uneasy, really. They looked around, disoriented. Their sweater, pants, scarf and shoes were scattered on the ground, but not much else occupied the space they resided in.

They had slept in their tank top and undershorts, and while they weren't sure how people would react to them going about the house in their current getup- they could recall mixed reactions to the girl who shifted between being a naked girl to a naked cat- they decided to not push their luck, going over to their pants, shaking them out, and slipping them on.

It was still a little early, but they doubted their internal clock would let them go back to sleep. After all, stuff usually happened after random environmental quirks they encountered. Such as angry mobs. Or houses burning down. Or.....other stuff.

So they busied themselves with tidying up a bit, so by the time they made it down to wherever the food was, they wouldn't be so startled by whatever decided to happen today, because if it was anything like yesterday, it was gonna be a long day, and they needed to keep their energy for when it was needed most.

Elise woke up like most of the others to a sound of.. glitching? This didn't usually happen. Cosmo's magic most of the time was intact. Elise got up out of bed and pulled on the white sleeves of her nightgown while she held Luna in her arms, long, pink hair framing her face. She walked out of her room and heard loud knocking. She decided to see what was going on. She walked upstairs to see Lucy knocking on Cecil's door with a stuffed rabbit, almost like hers, in her arms. She strided tiredly over to Lucy as she rubbed her eyes. "Luce? What's going on? Is Cosmo's magic.. glitching?"

She waited alongside Lucy for Cecil to open his door. She was scared, and wanted to get answers. After all, Cecil of course knew what was going on.

Willow || Sapphire Wynters || Corvus

Willow, who had sometime in her sleep rolled off the couch and turned unwillingly back into her human form, jolted awake at a funny feeling, the hairs on her neck standing up. She hissed somewhat, sounding very cat-like despite her current form. Sitting up straight, she blinked a few times, quickly glancing around and not noticing anything particularly odd, she turned to watch the sick kid to see if he was alright, tuning out nearly everything else as she did so.

Meanwhile, Sapphire had stirred from his sleep, the blue-haired teens eyes snapping fully open as he watched the ceiling go fuzzy above him. Quickly, he got himself ready for the day, haphazardly throwing together an outfit before leaving his room. Half running, he moved through the area, wanting to check if Cosmo was alright. As far as Sapphire could remember, it wasn't the first time something like this had happened, though those thoughts didn't stop the former thief from worrying.

On his way, he passed Lucy and Elise, pausing for a moment to ruffle the both girls' hair as Lucy knocked loudly on Cecil's door. Absently he noted that Cecil now had a roommate in the form of one of the new kids, likely the orange-haired brat. Corvus, huh? The name suited him, there was something almost dark about the person and the name. Stopping with his fussing over the two girls, Sapphire carried on heading toward Cosmo's office, where he hoped the man was at this time in the morning.

Like Corvus had suspected, he hadn't slept at all the previous night. He had stayed in his room until he was certain that most people were asleep and then at around four that morning he had slipped out. Exiting the front door, the short male found himself sitting next to a patch of flowers. He absently brushed one of the petals lightly before he had engrossed himself in his journal once more.

An hour or so later, something seemed wrong. His eyes snapped away from his book and the orange-haired teen frowned as he saw something fuzzy. Was something wrong with Cosmo's wards? Corvus shook his head. It wasn't his problem, if something happened then something happened, until that point he would stay outside and hopefully avoid other people for the time being.

The door to Ash's room creaked open, and they slowly peeped into the hallway. It was pretty quiet, except for the sound of someone banging on the door, but it was just on one door, and it didn't seem like an emergency. They closed the door behind themself, their bare feet making little spicky sounds as they began to tip toe downstairs.

They weren't necessarily doing it to be quiet, they just walked like that when they were barefoot. When they wore shoes they tended to drag their feet a little bit. They weren't sure why, it had always been that way, almost as long as they had been able to prompt people. They passed the source of the distressed knocking on their way to where they hoped was the kitchen, ignoring the girls as they recognized Elise, really not wanting to deal with her in case she demanded an apology.

I wonder if they're even making breakfast yet...

The next day.......

Caleb had fallen asleep in the chair he had talked to Aya in, Nkoe on his lap as he slumped back against the chair, hand on Nkoe's head. Suddenly he opened his eyes with a start, blinking and looking around he shook his head. He looked down to Nkoe and pet the Tiger cub gently, chuckling softly at the small big cat's mewling resistance.

He smiled, a genuine smile, perhaps his first since arriving at the Residence. He scratched at the back of the tiger-cub's ears, humming to him.

It's revealed that Dennis is a serious sleepyhead to the point that not even a nuclear strike might wake him up, although a spike of anger or urgency directed at him might do the trick. There's a sense of foreboding in the air they're trying to ignore...

    by Alle9009

Normally, it was really hard to wake Dennis up. If there was a model selected for the representation of 'sleepy head' in the dictionary, Dennis's sleeping face would be in the picture. The blonde boy tended to sleep in till noon during the weekends and his days off school, and even after he woke up he was like a caffeine addict gone without coffee for a week. He'd shuffle around with his eyes shut early in the morning like a zombie, narrowly avoiding banging into walls and people through sheer luck, and even after washing his face Dennis seemed only marginally more awake - people would have to regularly nudge him awake so that he didn't fall asleep again and land face-first into the sink or his breakfast or lead him in the proper direction lest he sleepwalk in the wrong direction. Dennis would only truly wake up after a good hour or so, spending the first hour in a hazy daze he only barely remembered.

In short, waking Dennis up was like trying to wake a hibernating bear, only without imminent death and less fur.

Rhys would probably know, seeing as Dennis had once slept on his gaming system during the holidays. It had been an accident, but that meant nothing when the sleeping kid wouldn't budge. Blanket pulling, setting a blaring alarm in his ear for five whole minutes, shaking Dennis so hard that his head bounced back and fro like a bobble-head in a car on a bumpy road; they were of no use. Dennis merely snored his way through it and only a lucky dodge prevented Rhys from being cuddled like a teddy-bear. The drop to the floor didn't wake him up either - he just curled up into himself without ever opening his eyes.

Which was why when the rumble happened, Dennis merely curled into his blanket a little tighter than usual, looking like a cocoon with a tuft of golden hair sticking out from the top.

--------------------------------------

Jaz didn't wake either, merely stirred at the shakes. The boy was no longer draped in multiple blankets like a dead body covered in offerings. Instead, he was covered neck to toe in a dark navy blanket, with a hot water bottle at his side. The brunette was still flushed, exhaustion lining his face and a slight furrow on his brow that made him look guarded even in sleep, but it was evident that his fever had gone down, even if it was still there. His skin was no longer burning hot to the touch and was instead a healthy pink color, and he was no longer shivering in his sleep.

Dressed in a pale white jumper that was a size too large for him and loose pants, Jaz looked infinitely young against the sheets on the couch that made up his bed. He looked like the child he actually was, small and vulnerable in the morning light. Still exhausted from the ordeal, Jaz woke up just enough to notice that he felt warm and turned over to face the couch, falling back into sleep almost immediately.

---------------------------------------

Devon and Gabriel, on the other hand, were already very much awake when the quakes happened. Looking up from the book he was reading on the bed, Devon shot a worried look at Gabriel, who had been sifting through the photos they'd taken last night. They shared a look of concern. Gabriel jerked his head towards the window, and Devon stood up and walked towards it, taking a look outside.

Where there had been nothing but white snow the night before, there was now a whole slew of stakes surrounding the house. They were obviously Cosmo's - the weird impish heads were pretty much his style - but why? Did it have anything to do with the quakes, the feeling of magic glitching?

Or maybe....

Gabriel was the first to speak up first, breaking the tense silent between them. "Do you think...? he asked uncertainly, as if not quite daring to finish the question. The photos he'd been grinning over moments ago hung loosely in his hands, half-falling onto the table Gabriel's elbow was resting on.

Devon shrugged tersely, knowing what Gabriel was referring to. "Maybe. Maybe not." He said, leaning against the window. His eye's narrowed, and he bit his lip before attempting a smile. "I hope not. We'll have to check with Cecil. But it'll be ok - we're here together, after all."

"Yeah. Yeah!" Gabriel brightened, shooting a smile back. In a sudden burst of energy, he stood up, joining Devon at the windowsill, nudging his shoulder comfortingly. "You can heal, and if anything happens I'll destroy them with my powers," he said cheerfully, cracking his knuckles. It sounded more like an attempt to comfort himself and his brother. "Mr Cosmo's is really powerful too, so nothing would happen anyway. Right?"

"Right," Devon said, nudging Gabriel back with a small smile on his face. They both shot each other a smile as they stood up, ready to start the day. "Even if something happens, we'll survive together. But-"

"We should check with Mr Cosmos just in case." They said in unison, heading out of the door despite still being dressed in their PJ's. Well, it was more a shirt and a pair of shorts, so it wasn't that bad. When they saw that Lucy and Elise were already waiting outside Cecil's room, the two shot each other a glance before sharing a nod and going different ways. Devon strode to join Lucy and Elise beside Cecil's door, while Gabriel headed upstairs towards Mr Cosmos.

"Lucy, Elise, morning." Devon called, raising a hand in greeting. He ruffled their hair briefly before leaning against the wall beside's Cecil's door, making sure that he was opposite the hinges. He raised an eyebrow questioningly at them, crossing his arms against his chest. "You guys felt it too?"

------------------------------------------

"Ah, Sapphire." Gabriel blinked in surprise at the sight of the blue-haired boy before plastering a smile on his face. He walked up towards Sapphire's side, joining him on the route towards Mr Cosmo's room. "Morning! You checking with Mr Cosmo's about it too?" he asked cheerfully, slipping his hands inside the pockets of his shorts. Despite the cheerful tone and smile, there was a serious look in his eyes that indicated that he wasn't as carefree as he appeared to be.

Cecil had slipped on real clothes as he watched the window, noting that Corvus was outside, and by the look on his face, he must've been there for a while. His attire is casually extravagant as ever—a white button up shirt with a black vest, black puffy pants that cinch at the knees, and black transparent leggings under them and his loafers. On his shoulders sits a khaki coat, which seems to be the only pop of color in the outfit aside from the red slouchy bow tied around his neck. The brunet opens the door, slipping the coat onto his shoulders again—it appears his arms aren't through the sleeves, and he's wearing it more as a cape.

"I seem to have attracted quite the crowd, then." He says, dully. He blinks his eyes slowly and adjusts his glasses, looking over the crowd before him, before another glitch happens, and Cecil's hand phases through the door frame for a moment. "We should get downstairs. If we're up here and the floor disappears for even a second, that'll be bad for us—especially up here in the Wayward Plane. C'mon, everyone." He steps out of his room, grabbing his bag on the way out, and slings it over his shoulder. He closes the door behind him and turns on his heel to walk down the hallway, throwing his next words over his shoulder:

"We have witches in our midst."
--
Lucy nods in response to Elise and Devon, frowning deeply. "His magic is sick! It's sick! It's really sick!" She looks really worried. When Cecil exits his room, she perks up a little, but his news just scares her even more—witches? So they really are real? She frowns and hurries up to catch up to Cecil, grabbing the back of his flowing coat.
--
Cosmo squints at all his wards, wondering if they'll do the trick. He puts his face in his hands momentarily, letting out a long sigh, before he hears a knock at his office door. He lifts his head and turns toward the door, blinking confusedly through his shaggy bangs. It couldn't be... a witch, could it? He shakes his head, reminding himself how ridiculous his own idea was, and he waves his hand high into the air.

"Come in, come in! The door's open—just come right on in!"

At the sight of Jaz stirring, Willow perked up a little though soon pouted again once it became clear that he didn't really wake up. Tilting her head to the side, she turned back into her cat form before moving off to find something more interesting to do. Maybe she could grab a couple of her things from her room? Surely there was something there she could do?

Happy with her plan, the cat-girl headed toward the stairs and after climbing up them she ran quite literally into Cecil who seemed rather serious. Staring up at him, the small cat silently wondered what was going on. Was something wrong maybe? No longer interested in finding her toys, the girl decided to follow the group, though she would stay in this form for now.

The sound of someone mentioning his name had the blue-haired teen blinking a couple of times and he turned, smiling as Gabriel caught up with him.

"Morning! You checking with Mr Cosmo's about it too?" Inclining his head in response to this, Sapphire frowned a little, anxiety clear on his face.

"Yeah. Figure I'd see if he was alright, and maybe if I could help in any way." He spoke no more after that, instead opting to travel in silence. Open reaching the man's office, Sapphire reached up to knock, opening the door at Cosmo's response.

Stepping inside, he glanced back at Gabriel for a moment before facing Cosmo again. "I. We were wondering if everything was alright. Is there something we can do?" The blue-haired teen bit his lip nervously, wanting to say something further but unsure if it would be a good idea. His past and his particular talents would make him a good choice to send out to scout the area, but while Cosmo knew his past, Gab didn't, and he hardly wanted to bring up his former profession to those who didn't already know.

Corvus had frowned as the part of the residence housing the bedrooms went fuzzy again. He had heard some of the closer animals panic a little over it, as they had with each previous occurrence of this. It was almost enough to warrant his concern, but the teen wasn't really sure he wanted to head back inside where people were bound to be awake by now. Surely they could take care of it themselves?

And so the orange-haired teen stayed put for the time being, though he was noticeably more tense than before, keeping an eye on the building and listening to the chatter of the nearby animals. One more incident and he would head inside. If it was necessary he would offer his assistance, but he hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Rune

Honestly, it wasn't too hard for Rune to see that the witches were planning something. There was something about the way they acted now that was different from the days beforehand, though he couldn't quite tell how exactly.

He had been locked up again, though with the witches now focused on a new task that was hardly a surprise. What was a surprise was that they had left him without a guard for once. Usually they took it in shifts to make sure that the brown-haired teen wouldn't try to escape. He almost smiled at the opportunity. Almost.

Whatever it was they were planning, it had to be big given the ruckus it was causing. So Rune would bide his time and wait.

He had waited for six years already after all, a little longer would hardly hurt.

    by Alle9009
  2. we've got Bryson, who's a fourteen year old who can make barriers, Megan, the girl who was warming up Jaz last night with her flames and best friends with bubbleboy, who's her age; Rakai, a fifteen year old wizard who's talent lies in being able to do anything a magician can do on a more magical and larger scale; Zander, an emotionally scarred thirteen year old who's capable of amplifying or nullifying others abilities, which have made him kind of a rare prize; and Seth, an absolutely normal sixteen year old who's a crackshot with throwing stuff.

  3. Seriously all OC's

    by Alle9009
  4. Devon is looking as if he's just gotten up from an allnighter at his desk and joins Cecil, house shakes from another glitch, and he greets Willow while looking as if he'd never heard of a pressed shirt in his life. Also he tries to comfort Lucy and Elise.

  5. Gabriel basically volunteers himself as a fighter if needed. The fact that violence is the first thing on his mind once he heard Cosmos might need help, I'll leave up to you guys to think why. It is certainly not because he's got bloodlust the length of his arm, which is kept in check by his brother the secret adrenaline junkie. Nope. Absolutely not, why would you ever think that?

Witches. Knew it! Instead of a feeling of celebration, Devon's brow creased as worry fluttered through him, foreboding settling into his stomach like a rock at the bottom of a pond. This... was really bad. Slipping his hands into his pockets, Devon walked past Elise and followed Cecil down the stairs, strolling a few steps behind him. Normally he'd chide Cecil and check up on his physical health whenever he found out that the guy wasn't eating, but today he was silent. As they made their way down the stairs the house shook again, and Devon worked to keep his balance, leaning against the wall for support.

"Don't worry, Lucy," he said, giving her shoulder a comforting pat. He grinned down at her, lips curving upwards and creasing his eyes in an effective mask that hid his unease. "If the witches come we can protect everyone in this house. You know Bryson can create barriers, and Megan can make fire! Rakai can pull his magical tricks on any witches who come, with Zander acting as an amplifier to help us if the going gets tough. Even Seth can help with his slingshot, and you can help keep everyone calm." He grinned at her, adding determination to his words. "Any witches coming at us will never be able to stand up to the residences of the WRWC!"

"Heya, Willow." He said, forcing cheer into his tone as Willow bounded up towards Cecil. She seemed to be wearing clothes this time. Most people in the house had gotten so used to seeing her naked that more often than not they just kind of forgot to register it - or at least Devon and Gabriel did. Devon wasn't sure whether the others where the same. "Coming to check what's up too? Word of warning -" he said, lowering his tone conspirytedly, looking around exaggeratedly as if looking for eavesdroppers, "Witches. Shhhh. Don't alarm the others."

Gabriel filled the silence up between him and Sapphire with meaningless chatter, his voice distant as if his mind were elsewhere. When they approached Mr Cosmo's door Gabriel's mouth snapped shut, causing the silence to loom in deeper than before; a veritable gulf that he didn't quite dare to break. He quietly followed Sapphire in, coming to a stop behind the older teen with a blank smile on his face, slipping his hands into his pockets in an attempt to prevent himself from fidgeting.

When Sapphire asked if there was anything they could do, Gabriel's blank smile turned into something more real, a faint gleam of happiness as he realised something. "If it's got anything to do with beating people up Devon and I could help." he offered, bringing a hand out of his pocket to wave it at them, reminding them of his power. Uknown to Sapphire, both he and Devon had spent enough time outside to know a thing or two about fisticuffs, especially Gabriel. "Or we can both play defence, if that's the plan."
