Image Bane collected several candles and the first aid kit, placing several of the candles on the table - pulling out his lighter and lighting the candles.

"Ghede..." She said softly, her eyes springing open - lookin at Marcus as he began to kneel down next to her leg.

"Ghede?" He mimicked back in the form of a question as he began his 'work'. Taking a deep breath as he would go to pull off the jacket tangled around her leg. Trying to go slow to prevent any further pain, he turned his face away from her so she wouldn't see the worry on his face. The wound was bad... and she was still bleeding pretty heavily. She was going to bleed out if he couldn't stop it soon.

"Hey! I need you to stay awake here! Talk to me!" Bane said, turning to look at her.

(sorry this is so short! >.<)

"Ghede?" Jacqueline heard her words repeated. She looked at him, dizzily, as he pulled the jacket from around her leg, slowly.

She felt the temperature drop but she didn't want to worry him. He was trying, besides....she used magic to hurt someone, she didn't feel much like fighting fate.

"Hey! I need you to stay awake here! Talk to me!" Marcus' voice urged her eyes back opened. She didn't know they'd even closed.,

"Needle...Thread." She said, pointing meekly toward the first aid kit. "Small pouch...medicinal." She sighed, and grabbed at the kit, after a few misses, she grabbed it and opened it. It was a typical kit yet a few things differed. There was a small pouch in the left hand corner that looked out of place. There were gauze, bandages, antibiotic ointment, modern medicine, yet this pouch, was an old cloth bag, looking centuries old.

She pulled it out and dumped the contents into her palm, they were an assortment of what looked like leaves and twigs.

She pressed the blend into her cheek and bit down. She winced at the taste and sat back against the couch, her eyes getting heavier.

"Stops...infection...numbs the pain" She told him, trying to keep conscious but slowly losing the battle, she reached out again, this time shuffled through for a needle and thread.

"Ghede...was a healer...." She said, softly, her fingers begining to tingle and lose dexterity, she took his hand and placed in on her thigh and . "'old 'ere." She told him. "All you 'ave to do..." her grip getting looser.

"Believe," she breathed, with that her head lollied to the side, her grip went limp and her eyes fluttered closed.

(That's okay, This parts mostly me xD )

"Believe," she breathed, with that her head lollied to the side, her grip went limp and her eyes fluttered closed.

"Jacqueline! Jacqueline!" He yelled at her, as she started to loosen her grip and her eyes went shut. He didn't really believe this whole Ghede spirit thing she had been talking about, but had let her continue believing because he didn't see the harm - but now.. He was almost out of time, and he wanted so bad for it to be true. This was beyond him - she had already lost to much blood for her to not need some form of transfusion soon, forgetting the fact he still hadn't been able to STOP the bleeding.

He did all he could do... He would try and believe... not in the spirit, but in her. If she said it was there, it was there. He closed his eyes and gripped her leg tight with both hands...

Please work... Please work... please...

Jacqueline Lavaeu

Jacqueline's eyes finally opened, she couldn't gauge how long she'd been out of it. She just knew she was sore all over.

Day had slowly begun to break, as light slowly trickled the living room, the storm had tempered into a gentle rain. Jacqueline felt pressure on her thigh, and looked up and saw Marcus still there.

"You know" She whispered. "Usually, we would need to 'ave 'ad atleast a first date before you could even touch my knee much less my thigh." She said, her eyes still half liddened by smiling, her face still a bit pale.

Honestly, she couldn't tell what happened, if it worked or not. Applying that much pressure, the bleeding could have very well stopped and with her medicinal herbs, fighting infection, thickening the blood, numbing the pain, it could have clotted on it's own. She couldn't be sure.

She was still breathing, that was something in and of itself.

She really didn't care anymore, who he could be. If he was Ghede Nibo or not, he was here, he saved her life. That's the only thing that mattered now.

"But I suppose I can make an exception." She said and reached for his hand.

(I kinda assumed he would still be there, let me know differently okay?)

Bane stayed there next to her all night - only removing his hands from her leg long enough to clean and bind the wound to the best of his ability. Other than that, He sat there on the floor next to her leg all night long with his hands pressed into her thigh - hoping there would be some, ANY, truth to this Ghede Nibo thing.

He never really slept, but his mind would go blank for stretches - as he tried to fight off sleep and continue to focus on 'healing' her. Banes eyes were shut as the days first light began to poor into the living room and Jacqueline began to stir. His head slumped slightly - as he was barely fighting off sleep. He was still damp from the rain which had soaked his clothes, covered in dried on mud, and his hands were still covered in what was left of her dried on blood - which now in the light would appear he had tracked throughout the house as he rushed around the night before trying to help her.

"You know" She whispered causing Marcus' eye to fly open - turning to look at her. "Usually, we would need to 'ave 'ad atleast a first date before you could even touch my knee much less my thigh." She said, her eyes still half liddened by smiling, her face still a bit pale. Banes face slowly turning from surprise to that of joy as she spoke. "But I suppose I can make an exception." She said and reached for his hand. He in turn gave her one of his hands, the other remaining on her leg due to some subconscious fear she might pass out or something if he were to let it go.

"Geez.. such 'strict' rules .. " He says softly while laughing a little under his breath, brushing the sleep from his eyes with the back of his hand as he felt such a burden lifted off his shoulders. "What are you.. some kind of Christian nut?" Bane says as he finally takes the second hand off her leg and wraps it around her hand - pulling it to his lips so he can kiss it, almost 'thanking' her for still being alive. Looking down at himself, likely for the first time since the whole event he notices how much mud he was covered in, before looking up at all the mud on the couch, floor, and her.

" I ... owe you a new couch and .... carpet... " He say slowly, before laughing softly - resting his head on the couch.

"Geez...such 'strict' rules." Marcus replied with a small laugh. Jacqueline could only smile. She couldn't believe he stayed there all night, his hand wrapped around her thigh. If he were Ghede Nibo...it should have worked...However, her leg was still quite sore, her bandages still wet with fresh blood, not nearly as much as last night but enough.

It didn't matter though, he tried, which meant, he atleast wanted to believe, and therefore he stayed.

"What are you...some kind of Christian nut." He said and removed his hand that was still wrapped around her leg. He took her hand and raised it to his lips, for a small kiss. Jacqueline smiled softly, sitting up straight. She watched him looking about himself and the room and she too noticed it was covered in mud and blood. Normally she would have lost her mind, she was a stickler for that sort of thing but considering the circumstances, she wouldn't dare complain.

"I...owe you a new couch and..carpet."

"No, Mon-chère," She told him, as he lay his head against the couch, she placed a soft hand on his forehead, and softly stroked his hair back. "You don't owe me anydz'ing." She said softly. "In fact, I owe you," She said and propped herself up on her feet. Her leg was on fire but she swallowed it without so much as a thought. "Dz'ere are six bathrooms in dz'is house. 7 bedrooms.'ave your pick of eidz'er one." She said and smiled. "You need proper rest and a 'ot shower, not in dz'at order." She said and pulled him to his feet, with a small giggle.

"Come." She said and with a limp, she led him upstairs. "I'll clean up once I've finished my shower." She told him as they made their way upstairs, she stopped at the top of the stairs, and opened the linen closet, she pulled a few towels. "'ere," She handed them to him then made her way to the large room of the left. "Dz'is is my room," She said standing in the doorway. "Let me know if you need anydz'ing." She said, and was about to turn before looking at him again.

She walked over, raised to her toes to place a small kiss to his cheek, nearest his lips.

"Dz'ank you," She said softly. "For....everdz'ing." She said and disappeared inside of her bedroom, softly closing the door behind her.

With that, she took a breath, and made her way to the en suite. Peeling off her bloodied, mud covered clothes, she threw them in the laundry bin, she palmed her forehead when she realized she didn't give him anything clean to where but a few towels but since she was already undressed, she climbed in the shower anyway, and figure something out.

In the back of her mind, she wondered what he would looked like in just a towel.

Once in the shower, she sighed softly as the hot water ran over her sore body, washing away the blood and mud.

She looked down, seeing a swirl of red in the drain, coming from her bandages. She unwrapped them gingerly, the hot water clearing away the blood as she did so. She frowned some as she looked at the wound, she could have sworn the hole was bigger then that. It felt bigger anyway. She ingored it and kept on cleaning under she reached under her thigh and felt...nothing...unmarked skin.

She gasped, as she felt around, thinking maybe she just missed it, but no, there was nothing. The wood went directly through her leg, through the back first, why was there no entry wound.

Then it hit her.

"Marcus..." She breathed. He did it. He healed her, albeit only half way but still. There was no logic explaination. Sure he probably didn't believe it, but he wanted to, otherwise he wouldn't have continued to try after she fell unconscious.

She closed her hand over her mouth. He was Ghede Nibo...He had to be...His connection was weak due to denile and false claims but it was there. There was no denying it now.

She looked back down at her leg, the wound was closing, slowly but surely, so she'd wait to show him once it was completely gone.

Once she finished with her shower, she brushed, dressed in a white floral top, and capri shorts that stopped just above her knee, and she squeezed out her wet hair, with a towel but let it airdry the rest of the way

She collected the laundry bin, her IPod, and made her way downstairs, before taking on the task of cleaning the mud and blood covered house.

"Come." She said and with a limp, she led him upstairs. As Marcus stood is became apparent just how fatigued he was. He stumbled a few times as he first got up, and would drag his feet as he followed.

"I'll clean up once I've finished my shower." She told him as they made their way upstairs, she stopped at the top of the stairs, and opened the linen closet, she pulled a few towels. Marcus used the wall for support as he ascended the stairs.

'what is wrong with me... I've Never felt this tired before... not even after staying up for days' he thought as he followed her close behind. 'I feel like I'm the one who lost all the blood...'

He raised his hand to his cheek, already missing her warmth there. She had to put up with so much... how she could manage to do so and then thank him on top of it all he could never understand.

Staggerly Bane made his way down to a bedroom, opening it to reveal a nice sizable room, although a tad under furnished due to the lack of anyone having been using it. Slowly he made his way to the bathroom within, placing the towls down on the sink - he some how tripped over his own foot, landing hard on the bathroom floor. He gripped his leg as he felt a sudden jolt of pain on his thigh.

'Aaagh! What is this!?" He grunted pulling himself up by the sink. His leg felt like it had been stabbed, making it hard to stand on alone without his extreme fatigue. Trying to ignore it he hobbled to the shower - turning it on and crawling inside, clothes and all. He leaned against the shower wall just trying to find the strength to remove his clothes.

Layer by layer he tossed his soaked clothes out onto the bathroom floor, letting the hot was roll down his weary skin. It felt good.. and it gave his muscles a moment to relax.. still tense from sitting in one spot all night. His fatigue did not seem to leave him, but it did give him a moment to clear his head - as if all his worries were going down the drain along with the dirt and grim he had collected from the night before.

Image After some time in the shower, Marcus would make his way out and over to the sink- grabbing the towel he had left there. Whipping the mirror clean of steam he saw his face for the first time in awhile... He looked tired.. not as tired as he felt... but tired none the less.. and if he was not mistaken... did he look happier? After all that he had been through in the past 24 hours, he still seamed to have a small smile even while not thinking about it.

Maybe Jacqueline was good for him... he hadn't really been 'happy' for some time now... or maybe he was just so tired he was going loopy... it was hard to tell.

Drying himself the best he could, Marcus realized all he had to put back on were his muddy wet clothes laying on the floor. He would have to go downstairs to get his duffle bag.. he knew he had at least on change of clothes in that... or so he hoped. He didn't actually bother to make sure he packed clothes, he was just in a hurry to get out of his hotel before someone showed up, not thinking ahead.

Image wrapping the towel around his waist, he slowly made his way out of the bathroom, through the bedroom and into the hallway. With a slight limp he walked down the stares towards the living room where his duffle bag still layed on the floor.

Looking through the duffle bag he sighed to himself. Shirt, socks, another shirt... had he really forgot to grab any other pants? He search would be interrupted as Marcus heard noise coming from the stairway. He grabbed a shirt, it was better then nothing, and stood up to put it on - only to discover Jacqueline already watching him.

" Feel any better? " He asks in a groggy voice, giving her a smile as he pulled the shirt on over his head.

Jacqueline Lavaeu.

Jacqueline had begun with the couch first, It was the most sullen of the lot.

She grabbed his cleaning supplies, popped in her headphones, and got to work.

Cleaning was actually relaxing for her, unlike for most.

It was familiar. She knew where things belonged, how they were supposed to look and so she put them there.

When her life got frustrating or confusing....like it had gotten yesterday, cleaning helped her feel sorted.

She pulled the covers from the couch cushions, tossed them in the laundry bin with her dirty clothes, and cleaning the stuffing, as best she could. Then she got to sweeping, vaccuming and mopping the floor.

She took a deep breath when she finished all that. She then grabbed up all the discarded gauze and went to take out the trash.

She stopped dead when she walked out and saw there were two bodies laying on the ground of her yard.

It all came flooding back, at once, so much it made her dizzy. She sighed heavily and shook her head, she couldn't very well live them here, and while plenty of spells, especially in Voodoo require the need of a corpse, she wasnever one for Blood magic and she never would be, she was a bit squeamish that way. She hated dissecting frogs.

She sighed again, resigning to the fact that she had to move the bodies herself, she grabbed the first one, the one that Marcus first killed. She grabbed him by the ankles and dragged him into the thick forest, deep inside lay a sizable swampy marsh, It was usually dried but after the rains last night, it was wet again.

She'd learned about this place when she was young and playing fairy with her small dog, Muppet. He'd ran out and slipped in the marsh when the ground gave out below him. They never did recover his little body. Jacqueline cried for weeks and wouldn't step foot in the forest.

Now, Ironically, she was dragging a body into the very place.

She rolled the body into the marsh, where it sunk slowly and she did the same with the other one, making sure to use the same trail, Just in case.

Not the it mattered, because when she finished. she whispered a small recovery spell the allowed the grass to stand tall and the soil to sift. It was as if last night never happened.

She really wished it hadn't.

She made her way back inside, where she changed again but only her pants and into a similar pair, as she descened the stairs she heard shuffling in the living room.

She rounded the corner to find Marcus in just a towel.

Jacqueline was stunned motionless, it was all she could but to stand there and watch him shuffle through his things, while interesting thoughts danced in her head.

It wasn't until he spoke that she was given her body back.

"Feel any better?" He asked, groggily.

"Fine..." She said, but it was more breathy then an outright answer. She snapped out of it. her eyes snapping up to his and away from his bare chest and trying hard not to linger on his boyish grin. "I'm f- I'm fine." She said, her tawny browm face a little pink. "Sorry about dz'e lack of a change of clothes-" She said and it struck her as the tone of his voice finally registered. If her leg was healing that only meant, he'd been feeling her pain...
She couldn't be sure, and she didn't want to worry him.

She walked over and pressed a hand to his somewhat clammy forehead. "You look tired, You need proper rest." She told him with a reassuring smile. "I'll put your clothes in dze washer, dz'en by dz'e time you get up, dz'ey'll be clean and dry, Oui?" She said and took his hand yet again, this time, her fingers seem to interweave with his, without her permission. She kept them there though, as she gingerly lead him up to her room. Her leg was still on fire, so she was extra careful with him.

"'Ow are you feeling?" She asked him. "Besides, tired?" She said and she lead him into her room, she pulled the comforter and bed dressings from the bed, some so that he could get in. "We bo'dz were soaked in rain last night, you may be coming down wit' somedz'ing." She said, even though she knew what was ailing him.

(Sorry for the delay, I started drawing last night and 4 hrs later, now my hand is slightly swollen :D)

She walked over and pressed a hand to his somewhat clammy forehead. "You look tired, You need proper rest." She told him with a reassuring smile. Marcus could only nod slowly - at this point he didn't think he could fight off sleeping much longer, even if she didn't think it was a good idea.

"I'll put your clothes in dze washer, dz'en by dz'e time you get up, dz'ey'll be clean and dry, Oui?" She said and took his hand yet again, this time, her fingers seem to interweave with his. Marcus notices their hands linked together, looking down at her hand in his. He gave her another soft smile as she slowly lead him up to her room. He found it odd... With all the rooms in this house she brought him to her's ... it give him a small smirk.

"'Ow are you feeling?" She asked him. "Besides, tired?" She said and she lead him into her room, she pulled the comforter and bed dressings from the bed, some so that he could get in. "We bo'dz were soaked in rain last night, you may be coming down wit' somedz'ing." She said. Marcus' smile would fade slightly as she asked him how he felt, honestly he didn't want to tell her - thinking it might worry her, but she had asked...

" Other than exhausted? " He says, the groggy voice he had before still prevalent. " I'm alright I suppose... although my leg.. " He says, rubbing his thigh through the towel still wrapped around his waist. " I think I must have bagged it up last night and not noticed during all the um... 'excitement'. " He would sit on the bed, raising a hand to his eyes as he simple shook his head.

" I'm sure it's nothing though.. All I need is some sleep, and I'll be fine.. " Marcus says as he pulls the hands from his eyes, giving her another soft smile.

"Other than exhausted?"Marcus replied, Jacqueline's brow creased a little. "I'm alright I suppose...although my leg.." He said, rubbing his thigh, right where her wound was on her. "I think I must have banged it up last night and not noticed during all the um...'excitement.' He said as he sat on the bed. Jacqueline pursed her lips. She wanted to tell him but....something was stopping her, she didn't know what anymore.

"I'm sure it's nothing, though. All I need is some sleep. and I'll be fine... He told her with a soft smile. "Dz'en lay down." She urged him, gently pushing him down on the bed, now she was somewhat hovering over him, as she was sitting beside him and now gazing down into his eyes.
"You need your rest." She told him softly.

After a moment, she sighed, feeling bad, she needed to tell him but it was as if something was holding her tongue.

"I'm sorry for last night." She told him, "All dz'is 'excitment' because I was foolish enough to agure wit' dz'ose men, now you weren't feeling well." She said and looked away.

"Did you really mean what you said to me? About how you don't believe as you did about witches and casters?" She asked him, looking a little insecure, maybe his answer now would help her tell him. She knew she needed to.

"Dz'en lay down." She urged him, gently pushing him down on the bed. Marcus laid down with little to no fight. He looked up at her with a half smile as she gazed down at him. "You need your rest." She told him softly, and he nodded in turn, he agreed he did... but he wanted to fight off sleep to sit here with her for a moment more.

" You still need rest yourself... You lost a lot of blood last night.. you're body still needs time to ... " He yawns. " get that blood back.." Marcus' eyes were becoming heavier as he lay there talking with her.

"I'm sorry for last night." She told him, "All dz'is 'excitment' because I was foolish enough to agure wit' dz'ose men, now you weren't feeling well." She said and looked away.

" No... Don't blame yourself... Those men were the ones to blame, not you.. and they paid for their actions... " He said sitting up slightly, looking into her eyes.

"Did you really mean what you said to me? About how you don't believe as you did about witches and casters?" She asked him. He reached out for her hand as he sat up all the way, trying to hold it as he spoke to her.

"I meant ever word... " He says smiling at her again. " In a single afternoon you managed to make me question... everything I've done in the past 10 years.. in a good way." Marcus laid back down, now with his eyes closed as he went on talking. " .. and I'm better for having met you... "

" Now you answer me this... " He says before yawning again, his eyes opening slightly as he looked at her with a smile. " Do you still wanna 'sleep with me'?" He asked with a smirk.

Marcus sat up then, taking her hand. It was amazing what that little touch could do to her heart, but everytime it seemed to give her butterflies immediately.

"I meant every word." he told her, and Jacqueline smiled. "In a single afternoon you made me question...everything I've done in the past 10 years...in a good way." He said and lay back down, with his eyes closed. "and I'm better off for having met you."

Her heart went soaring just then, making it a little hard to breath. That was probably the single most beautiful thing she'd ever heard anyone say about her. Sometimes she believed that people only mildly cared about her, her friends she felt were fake, her family had their own issuses. Her mother...since her father died, she never knew how her mother felt about her then.

Jacqueline had nothing to say to that.

"Now you answer me this..." He said. "What's dz'at?"

"Do you still wanna 'sleep with me'?"

Jacqueline burst out laughing then, she covered her mouth with her hand to contain her laughter.

She cleared her throat.

"Just like a man, Only every one thing on your mind." She said with a gentle nudge.

"Lucky for you, dz'e answer is yes." She said and scooted a bit closer.

"Now keep your eyes closed and relax." She said, and placed her hands on either side of his face.

"Breath evenly, in through your nose and out through your mouth and let your mind drift." She said, and she too closed her eyes.

"You will 'ave complete control over the dream, expect me, Well, partial...you'll be able to control what I wear...so try to behave." She said with a small laugh.

Once, she tried to help a teenage boy with night terrors, and found herself completely naked in his dream.

"Keep your mind open and let this world fall away, and build a new one." She said, her voice even and soft, as if putting him under hypnosis.

"Just like a man, Only every one thing on your mind." She said with a gentle nudge. "Lucky for you, dz'e answer is yes." She said and scooted a bit closer. Marcus gave her a wide smile. He had expected some form of comment on the remind, and she had delivered. He let his eyes close shut again, already starting to drift off.

"Now keep your eyes closed and relax." She said, and placed her hands on either side of his face. "Breath evenly, in through your nose and out through your mouth and let your mind drift." She said, and she too closed her eyes. He compiled, his breathing slowing as be had already began to drift off.

"You will 'ave complete control over the dream, expect me, Well, partial...you'll be able to control what I wear...so try to behave." She said with a small laugh. Even now almost asleep she made his smile, but part of him doubted her When she told him he would have complete control... He rarely went to bed without having enough to drink to not remember going to bed let alone dream.. and there was a reason for that.

Her words would become lost to him as she continued to try and sooth him to sleep - he had already drifted off...

The sound of the water hitting the shore is the first thing Jacqueline would hear as she entered his dream. The smell of the sea air and the mist of the ocean breeze washing over her face would welcome her to what appeared to be a beautiful looking beach, almost like something off the back of a postcard.

As she looked down, she would find herself wearing a simple white sun dress, with a white bikini underneath, standing barefoot in the warm sand.

"Hey, Lady!" She would sudden hear, turning to find a young boy, no older then the age of 10 standing there. "What are you doing here?"

Jacqueline felt her mind being pulled into his.

As she opened her eyes, she stood on a summer beach, warm sun, a soft breeze, gentle waves crashing upon the shore. She couldn't help but smile. She looked down to find herself properly dressed, in a lithely white sun dress, coupled with q bikini underneath, and barefoot.

She wondered what that said about what he thought of her.

"Hey Lady!" a young boy cried, she turned and smiled. "Why, hello?" She said, unsure about how this child was. "What are you doing here?" He asked with a child's curiousity.

"I am looking for a friend of mine. Do you know someone by dz'e name of Marcus?"She asked sweetly. "I was suppose to meet 'im 'ere."

Image "I am looking for a friend of mine. Do you know someone by dz'e name of Marcus?"She asked sweetly. "I was suppose to meet 'im 'ere."

"My name is Marcus!" Said the little boy excitedly. "I am Jeremy Marcus Williams Bane!" The little boy ran up to Jacqueline, standing just a few feet in front of her now, bouncing a bit as he kept talking. "You aren't looking for me are you?" He asked as he gave her a big smile, revealing two of his front teeth missing. He looked a bit like a young Marcus with a closer examination, the same dark hair, same nose, even the same ears - but his eyes were defiantly more of a hazel then Marcus' honey brown. He wore a simple white T-shirt and white shorts, although they seemed to be covered in sand from where he had likely been playing on the beach.

"I bet you're friends at the Ferry!" He says, taking her hand and beginning to drag her down the sandy shore line. "Come on! Lets go!"

As he dragged her down the beach for a minute, a town would come into view - made mostly from what looked to be bamboo, palm leaves, and drift wood the small town looked almost like what you would expect somewhere stereotypical tropical. The people moving about the sandy streets of the little town seem bright and colorful even from a distance. Another minute or so they would both arrive within the small towns streets and from here it oddly enough seemed familiar.... It looked to be the French Quarter, save made completely from material found in the area. The brightly colored people moving about the streets appear to be in costumes you would find during Carnival in Brazil - moving in shockingly large crowds for the tiny town. The Sounds of Music and chatter fill the city streets as people seem to be in celebration.

"Come on!" Yells the young boy, dragging Jacqueline through the middle of a crowd. As they bumped into people - their white clothes would began to gain the colors of those they bumped into - almost like getting paint rubbed on them without the wet sensation or smell. By the time they made it to the other side of the crowd they both looked like they had tie-dyed clothes on.

"There!" He said, pointing towards a small boat dock a few yards away. "That's were the Ferry comes in at, your friend will probably be here by then!"

"My name is Marcus!" the boy said excitedly. Jacqueline's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh?" She said, "I am Jeremy Marcus Williams Bane." He said, bouncing as he spoke. Jacqueline smiled down at him, unsure what to do next.
"You aren't looking for me, are you?" He asked. "I am not sure, maybe we should keep looking." She said, wondering where Marcus was, she couldn't tell if this was just a younger verison of him, or maybe...

"I bet your friends at the Ferry!" He shouted taking her hand and dragged her down the shore."Come on! Let's go!"

With that they made their way down the shore and into a small town, where a festival seemed to be in full swing, music filling the air, along with the sounds and smells of food, people in costumes danced in the streets.
"Come on!" He yelled happily, and she couldn't help notice as they moved through the streets, the white sun dress she wore suddenly had tiny bursts of color, as she was dragged through the crowded streets, bumping people along the way.

"There!" He shouted, pointing at the docks ahead of them. [b]"That's where the Ferry comes in at, your friend will probably be here by then!"

Jacqueline smiled. "Dz'ank you, Jeremy." She told him, looking out at the docks. She had to know who this child was, if he were the Dreamer then she had to stick close by, or risk becoming lost in his mind.

"Jeremy, Where are your parents?" She asked him." You aren't out here alone, are you?" she asked, remembering Marcus telling her about how he was orphaned, so perhaps if this child held the same story, then it could be a young Marcus, otherwise, this was probably his son he was dreaming of.

"Jeremy, Where are your parents?" She asked him." You aren't out here alone, are you?" The young boy frowned a bit, looking back towards the crowd of people moving through the streets.

"My moms at home... but... I don't wanna go there.. and dads here somewhere... some times.. " He says slowly, as if he wanted to tell her a lie, but couldn't come up with anything. His frown would suddenly brighten up as he pointed back towards the docks.

"Look! It's here!" he yelled, running towards the docks as a small ferry boat came pulling up to it. As it arrived, people through the crowd began to head towards it. oddly enough not people in costumes but in the, now, tie-dye clothing much like Jacqueline and the young Jeremy. As the boat came to a stop, a man jumped onto the docks.

"All aboard!" He yelled with a wide smile. People seem to be handing him coins as they began to load onto the Ferry.

"Check your pockets! Do you have any coins!?" Said the excited Jeremy, pointing towards the simple 'pocket' of sorts made into the sundress... oddly enough there hadn't been a noticeable pocket before now. As she stuck her hand inside to check, there would be two copper coins - larger than a traditional penny, but bright and shiny - as if recently made.

Jacqueline watched as the boy frowned and instantly felt bad.

"My mom's at home...but...I don't wanna go there and my dad's here somewhere...some times." He said and Jacqueline could see he was hiding something, so she didn't press the issue. His expression changed immediately as he looked toward the docks.

"Look! It's here!" He cried and Jacqueline couldn't help but feel excited herself.
"All aboard." called the ferryman as the passangers disembarked.

"Check your pockets! Do you have any coins."

Jacqueline felt neverous suddenly, she reached in her pocket and found two coins, she looked them over and felt her spine stiffen.

"Docks...Ferryman....Coins...Jeremy, I don' dz'ink we should get on dz'at Ferry." Jacqueline told him, her face now etched with a frown.

"I need to know what your fadz'er's name is." She urged, but gently so not to frieghten him but she had to be sure, before she boarded that Ferry.

Unlike Marcus, this world was really to her, if she were to die here, she would be braindead in reality.

"You see, I dz'ink your fadz'er is, dz'e friend I am looking for and if I board dz'e Ferry, I won't ever see 'im again," She told him, after kneeling down to his eye level.

"Docks...Ferryman....Coins...Jeremy, I don' dz'ink we should get on dz'at Ferry." Jacqueline told him. Jeremy frowned again.

"I never get to go on the Ferry.. " He mumbled, somewhat disappointed but clearly having fallen short of his goal of getting on the Ferry before.

"I need to know what your fadz'er's name is." She urged him. "You see, I dz'ink your fadz'er is, dz'e friend I am looking for and if I board dz'e Ferry, I won't ever see 'im again," She told him, after kneeling down to his eye level.

"My dad is Marcus Alexander Bane.." He said matter-a-factly. " and... I can take you to him.. but.. I don't think you wanna go there.." He says, the frown on his face turning to more nervousness then fear. Jeremy looked back towards the town again, apprehensive of what he thought he should do. He would take her hand and lead her back down the towns sandy street, passing through the celebrating people yet again.

The street would seem to become longer and longer as they walk down it, the once tropical appearance shifting to that more of a city side docks, the sun some how setting and leaving behind a clouded night sku, all in the time between a blink. Jeremy would stop and point towards a bar lit up with a neo sign that read 'Worlds Edge' on it.

"He's in there most likely.. you'll have to go without me... I can't go in.. " He says letting go of her hand. In the time she looked towards the bar and back towards Jeremy he was gone...

The bar was ran down on the inside, at one time it had been decorated to be like and Irish pub... but had been ran down and neglected. It remains mostly empty, a few faceless people sitting in the corner with their heads down and a tired looking bar keeper.

Marcus sits at the far end of the bar, with a drink in his hand.. having not noticed Jacqueline enter yet.

"My dad's name is Marcus Alexander Bane." Jeremy said, simply "and....I can take you to him ...but... I don't think you wanna go there."

"I 'ave to, mon-chère" She told him. Looking nervous and then afraid, Jeremy took her hand and lead her out toward what now looked like a city dock, dark and somewhat desolate, it was as if the sun had suddenly dropped out of the sky. It was no real wonder why Jeremy looked scared.

He stopped and pointed, 'World's Edge,' hung in neon over a bar.

"He's in there, most likely...you'll have to go without me...I can't go in." Jacqueline looked up at the bar.

"I dz'ink I 'ave an-" as she turned to Jeremy, she found herself suddenly alone. "Idea..." She sighed and made her way inside the bar.

There, sitting at the end of the bar, drink in hand, was Marcus, Jacqueline felt relieved, she was never suppose to be too far from the Dreamer, and since he let her into his dreams, he would know who she was, especially since she was the only one with an actual face.

She took a seat beside him.

"I've been looking for you." She told him softly. "Why are you in 'ere?" She asked, feeling strange at the thought of mentioning his son but she knew it was part of the problem so she threw cation to the wind. "I made a friend, a very sweet boy, 'e 'elpd find you, even dz'ough 'e really wanted to get on dz'e ferry."

Image Marcus' view would shift up and towards Jacqueline as she sat down beside him. He would offer her a glass of scotch, another already in front of him - indicating his expecting of her arrival.

"I've been looking for you." She told him softly. "Why are you in 'ere?" Marcus nodded, taking a drink off his own glass as she spoke. He does not seem to smile or light up as he had began to ever time he saw her lately outside of the dream, his eyes mostly stay down on his glass, hearing her words - but clearly distracted with his own thoughts.

"Every time I'm here.. and I realize its a dream... this is where I go.. If I hadn't realized it was a dream... I'd be out on the streets with the others.. " He looks up at her, a hint of redness to his eyes. "But as you said... I would know it were.. so... Here I am."

"I made a friend, a very sweet boy, 'e 'elpd find you, even dz'ough 'e really wanted to get on dz'e ferry." She said, her face lighting up a bit as she talked about the boy. Marcus shook his head with an insincere smile, taking yet another drink from his dwindling scotch.

"He always wants to go on the ferry... and I never have the coins..." He says, swirling the ice cubes within his glass around for a moment before placing it back down on the bar. He looks back towards her, as he continues talking. "... and the damnedest thing is... He has the coins... but it's two coins per person... and he always waits for me... Every time I'm here... it's the same story.. " He sighs, leaning back on the bar stool a bit.

"I almost hate this dream the worst.. because every time I have it I have to be reminded that he never got to grow up to be this age.. that... I'm slowly forgetting what he use to look like and instead just keep imagining him as if he had kept on growing up... " His eyes lock on her yet again.

"Where did you wake up anyways?" He asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.

"He always wants to go on the ferry...and I never have the coins." Marcus repiled nd Jacqueline frowned. Then why does she have the coins?

"...and the damnedest thing is...he has the coins...but it's two coins per person...and he always waits for me....Everytime I'm here...it's the same story." He sighed.

"I almost hate the dream the worst...because every time I have it I have to be reminded that he never got to grow up to be this age...that...I'm slowly forgetting what he use to look like and instead just keep imagining him as if he had kept on growing up..." He said, looking at her, Jacqueline felt pressure behind her eyes, she could relate to a certain degree, she had pictures of her father, she wished she had the luxury of seeing him in her dreams.

"Where did you wake up anyways?"He asked, "On a beach." She said and looked down at her now multi colored dress, still barefooted, she reached in her pocket.

"Marcus..You can take him on dz'e ferry." She said suddenly. "You see, Dreams are just dz'at, dreams. Dz'ere are what you want dz'e most, You want 'im to grow up, subconsciously, you want to see 'im older dz'en what 'e was. 'ere you can." She said and reached in her pocket and placed the two coins in his hands. She didn't know if it was the right step but it was all she had.

"But I dz'ink somewhere in your mind, you know what dz'at Ferry means...and maybe you are just too afraid of letting him go, and dz'at is why you never 'ave dz'e coins." She said, feeling moisture on her cheeks, and in reality, tears would be there too.

"It is up to you whether you take 'im or not, but He will always wait for you, 'iding in 'ere isn't going to change dz'at." She told him, and looked away toward the door. "I know if I could see my fadz'er again....even in only a dream, I would go." She said softly. "I'd always go.."

Image Keeping his head down as she handed him the coins, Marcus turned away from her as she talked.

"It is up to you whether you take 'im or not, but He will always wait for you, 'iding in 'ere isn't going to change dz'at." She told him, and looked away toward the door. "I know if I could see my fadz'er again....even in only a dream, I would go." She said softly. "I'd always go.."

"You know what Jacqueline.. " He says slowly. " You are.... oddly predictable. " As Bane turned back to face her- his face would appear to have a shadow pass over it, and it was replaced with that of the sinister Mystery man from the Hotel. Slowly the corners of his face would roll upwards into a twisted grin, looking at the coins in his hands.

" You truly have no idea where you are really, do you girl?" He says, tucking the coins into his pocket as he talks. "I've been watching Bane for years... I've had time to learn a trick or two... and this... is no dream.. This is purgatory." He smirks, standing up from the bar stool.

"Well... Banes purgatory anyways.. and what you just gave me was your ticket to the afterlife.. "

"You know what Jacqueline..." Bane said. "You are... oddly predictable." Jacqueline frown and before she knew it, Bane's face morphed into that of the Mystery Man.

Jacqueline's nostril's flared.

"Damn you..." She spat, rising from her seat.

"You truly have no idea where you are really, do you, girl?" She had a clear idea, but it didn't matter now, she had her ace in the hole...

"I've been watching Bane for for years...I've had time to learn a trick or two and this....is no dream....This is purgatory." He said, finally rising.

Jacqueline stood at the ready, she was prepared for her tricks, in here, in the psyche, she was always prepared.

"Well...Bane's purgatory anyways...and what you just gave me was your ticket to the afterlife." He said and Jacqueline's eye twitched in annoyance before her posture relaxed completely.

"You know no'dzing." She said darkly, the faceless bar patrons rising and turning.

"You know nodz'ing of what my true power is..."

She said and their faces twisted, their eyeless black pits widening, and their mouths agape, black tar-like substances pouring from pale grey lips, slowly shambling forward.

"'Ere,I am in control. I am always in control...It is my gift," She said with a grin.

"You may dz'ink it's his purgatory but you do not know whose mind it is you are in." She told him, all he did was reaffirm her thoughts. Marcus Bane was Ghede Nibo, the healer and the guide to the afterlife, "Coins or not, I will 'ave my afterlife but you..." She said and waved a hand. "You will never get yours." She said and the faceless creatures attacked.

Jacqueline turned away, reaching out her hand and grabbed at air, with that she seemed to pull at nothing and the bar scene ripped, like torn paper, and she stepped through the rip.

With that, she was back on the white sand beach, with seemingly no one there save for her.

She had to find Bane and get out. She didn't want to take control away like that but with that Mystery Man followed them, no place was safe, well except maybe her own mind.

"Marcus!" She called out, knowng those creatures would only keep the Mystery Man at bay for but so long.

"Marcus, " She called out as a gentle breeze blew. "Marcus, Come to me, quickly."

He had to hurry before she was trapped and the Mystery Man had his way.
