Marcus is in no way what you would call an ordinary member of the Church. While most Priests would teach others to avoid the Deadly Sins, Marcus treats them almost like a check list. Despite this unholy manner, Marcus still holds firm in his belief in God - Often snapping at someone for using 'the lords name in vain'. He will often speak his mind when no one wishes to hear it, but does still hold restraint towards the feelings of most.

A lack of control or losing control of himself

History: Abandon on a churches steps as an infant, Marcus was raised in a Catholic Orphanage along with several other discarded children of society. Often picking fights, and even more often winning them, the boy had a knack for trouble that not even the harshest of Nuns could seems to get out of him. For his rebellious behavior and unwillingness to conform, Marcus was kicked out of the Orphanage at the age of 16 - left to watch after and care for himself.

Staying in trouble most of the time, Marcus kept on the move, never staying in one place for very long until he found himself in New Orleans. Just over the age of 21 at the time, Marcus' eye got caught on a rather expensive looking necklace in a New Orleans shop window. In the dark of night the troubled young man broke into the shop, trying to make the necklace his own so he might pawn it off later, only to meet a woman who had him at the end of a shotgun barrel. Trying to dart for the still open shop door, the woman seemed to slam it shut with just a glance... without even moving an inch. In shock an awe, as his eyes became as wide as dinner plates, he stopped dead in his tracks and as he went to ask 'How' the woman shot him dead in the chest.

The police were called and an ambulance arrived to call his time of death and collect the body. Arriving at the hospital with what they thought to be a dead Marcus Bane, Father Thomas Walker came to read the dead young man his Commendation and farewell. Opening the bag body enough to see Marcus face, Father Thomas nearly jumped out of his shocks as Marcus gasped for breath and reached up for the old mans arm.

Having seen the light, Marcus thought himself done for- however a voice told him to go back... that there was work for him to do yet. Still in shock from the young mans sudden revival, Father Thomas didn't bother to remove the young mans hand from his arm till they both caught their breath. That is when he noticed the star-like birthmark on the palm side of his wrist - and how Marcus learned what he truly was to become.

Theme Song

O Death || Jen Titus

O, Death. O, Death.
Won't you spare me over 'til another year?

Well, what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands takin' hold of me.
When God is gone, and the Devil takes hold,
Who'll have mercy on your soul.
Well I am death, none can excel,
I'll open the door to heaven or hell.
'O, death, someone would pray
'Could you wait to call me another day?'
The children prayed, the preacher preached
Time and mercy is out of your reach.
I'll fix your feet 'til you can't walk.
I'll lock your jaw 'til you can't talk.
I'll close your eyes so you can't see
This very hour come and go with me.
I'm death I come, to take the soul
Leave the body and leave it cold.
To draw the flesh off of the frame,
Dirt and worm both have a claim.

O, Death. O, Death.
Won't you spare me over til another year?

My mother came to my bed
Placed a cold towel upon my head.
My head is warm, my feet are cold
Death is a-movin' upon my soul.
Oh death how you're treatin' me
You've close my eyes so I can't see.
Well you're hurtin' my body
You make me cold
You run my life right outta my soul.
Oh death please consider my age,
Please don't take me at this stage.
My wealth is all at your command
If you will move your icy hand.
Oh the old, the young, the rich or poor
All alike to me, you know.
No wealth, no land, no silver no gold
Nothing satisfies me but your soul.

O, Death. O, Death.

So begins...

Marcus' walk slowed as he neared the room, crouching down as he got to the front window. He glanced inward before mumbling a curse under his breath. He was right... She was in there... and if that wasn't bad enough she wasn't alone. Terresa Williams was becoming the bane of his existence ... no pun intended. He slipped forward towards the front door, staying crouched low enough to not be seen as he passed the window. He checks the door, it was unlocked - it was now or never.

Image
In one swift motion, Bane got to his feet and kicked the door inward. The door flew open, the two people sitting inside turning to look at Bane standing in the doorway. He glared at both of them as he stepped inside. Terresa Williams, a young woman in her mid-twenties, sat on the end of the bed looking towards Marcus with an expression of shock covering her face - clearly not expecting his sudden burst into the room. The other Micheal Turner, a middle-aged man in his late 30s early 40s, stands in the back of the room near the bathroom- not as shocked by his entrance. Bane gave them both a begrudged nod before slamming the door shut behind him.

" Williams... Turner.. To what do I owe the displeasure.. " He says as he walks towards a simple mini-bar sitting on the floor near the TV. Pulling a bottle of beer out from it's small collection of alcohol, he opens it up - tossing the bottle cap onto the carpet as he took a long drink.

Image
"Marcus.. It is 10:30 in the morning, if you want something to drink - here... Have some water. " Says Micheal as he fills a glass with water front the rooms bathroom sink.

" Why is it every time I try and have a drink, everyone wants to 'remind' me of what time it is." grumbles Bane before taking another drink off his beer. Micheal walks up to Bane, trying to hand him the glass and take his beer. Bane knocks the glass of water out of his hand, letting it spill out over the carpet below.

" Real mature... " Says Micheal, his and Banes eyes locked in a glare. Terresa slowly stood up, placing her hands on both their shoulders as she pushed them apart.

" We came here - " She says looking at Micheal as if trying to remind him of the 'mission' at hand. " To make sure everything is alright... I saw you in your car with a Witch.. and when you saw me you sped off.. " She stepped in between the two of them. "What's the deal Marcus, We Hunt Witches ... We don't give them rides in our cars." She glared up at Bane. "You haven't forgotten that have you?"

"You think I've forgotten what it is that we do?" He says, stepping forward - leaving little to no room between the two of them. Inches from her face, nearly spitting he yells. " I can never forget, I'm reminded every damn day I look in the mirror - I know what I'm fucking doing!" As he yelled at her, Micheal walked towards the window, pulling back the thin curtain to get a better look outside.

" Then what's she still doing in your car? " He asked, turning back to look at the two of them. " I mean.. I assume that is her.." Terresa glared at Bane again before she walked over to the window, looking out into the parking lot.

"That is her!" She yelled - turning back to look at Bane again. "It's bad enough you've been driving her around, now you've brought her to where you're staying!? What the fuck do you think you're doing Marcus - are you trying to fuck a Witch or something!?" She screamed at him. "Haven't you already been fucked over by enough Witches!" His eyes flared as she screamed at him. His fist clinching as he began to grind his teeth.

"Get... the FUCK out of here.. " He said quietly, clearly trying to hold back his anger.

" and if we don't?! " She asked. Bane reached for the gun tucked into the belt along his back, pointing it down at the ground but making it visible.

" Get... OUT.. " he said louder.

" You won't " She said, stepping closer. Micheal brought his hands up to her shoulders, holding her back from stepping any closer. Faster then anyone could realize, Bane rose his arm and shot at the mirror in the back of the room - causing it to shatter. The room echoing with the sound of gunfire - both Terresa and Micheal flinching as the shot goes out.

"OUT!" He yelled.

" Lets go.. " Micheal said as he dragged Terresa towards the door. The two of them quickly leaving the room - Bane followed, standing in the doorway glaring at them as they got into her White car and took off. Once they departed the parking lot, Bane would vanish back into the room.

Astroprojection was an ability that most witches there entire lives to master , allowing her floating away from her body, allowing her to be wherever she wanted without being noticed. A fly on the wall so to speak.

However for Jacqueline, it was merely a fraction of what her natural gifts really were.

For now, she guided her consciousness toward the hotel room, where Marcus disappeared into.

She watched as two Crusaders questioned him, the woman from before and a Man, she hadn't seen.

The woman-Teressa edged him on mentioning her, Marcus seemed none too pleased and all the other man -Micheal did was make it worse by pointing her out in the car.

"Shit!"She thought to herself wishing she had lay down before Projecting.

After a moment or two of aguring, Marcus pulled a gun and not a moment later did he fire.

Jacqueline as well as the other did not expect him to fire, and the shock of it, since Jacqueline's mind flying back into her body.

"Oow." She said, holding her head, just as that white car drove passed her quickly. She also saw Marcus disappear back inside and decided that was her cue to go. She exited the car, locked the door and made her way toward the hotel room, but stopped just short of the door, when she felt moisture just under her nose.

"Shit..." She whispered and dug into her bag for a tissue.

Magic always comes at a price, even if that just meant she'd deal with a nosebleed.

She cleaned up quickly before knocking on the door, and entering.
"Marcus," She said softly, closing the door behind her. It was always odd seeing the same place with her own eyes just after using her mind's eyes.
Image
"Let me clean dz'is up. Glass is a pain in dz'e arse to get out of carpet." She said getting to the floor and picking up the shards of glass from the floor. "Room Service will 'ave to get rest of it- ah!" She winced as shard pricked her finger.

She didn't know why but she felt a little awkward, especially after such an altercation and his revealing why he had his hatred for witchcraft, yet still he worked with her.

He was a good man, and for some reason life keeps testing him.

She didn't understand.

"Leave it.. " He mumbles from where he sits on the bed, his brow furrowed as he looks out the window in thought. The gun lay discarded on the bed beside him, already forgotten by Bane as his mind as focused on other matters.

"Room Service will 'ave to get rest of it- ah!" She winced as shard pricked her finger.

" I said to leave it - " he says, turning to look at her. With a frustrated sigh he gets to his feet, walking over to the young Jacqueline. Picking up the small waist basket off the floor - he takes the glass from her, placing it into the waist basket, before trying to take her hand to look over it's 'damage'. " We can't stay here... " He says, before trying to walk her to the sink. " If the gun shot didn't get someone attention enough to call the cops... They'll be back before to much longer... probably with others looking for you.. "

"I said leave it." He said somewhat frustrated. With that he walked over with a wastebasket, collected the glass, she had in her open palm, and dumping it inside.

"We can't stay here..." He said taking her hand and looking it over. Jacqueline looked up at him, for a moment, wondering what he was thinking as he walked her toward the sink.

"If the gun shot didn't get someone's attention enough to call the cops...They'll be back before too much longer...probably with others looking for you..."
Jacqueline felt her spine stiffen in fear. "Okay." She said quietly as she watched his face. "We can go to my place...After we collect all of your evidence and case files."

All of these trouble, just because she was there...because she was a witch. It wasn't like she had a choice, she was born a Witch, not made one.

"I'm sorry my presence has caused all dz'is grief." She told him after a quiet moment. "You don't deserve to be treated dz'is way, just because of me." She said, looking at her hand in his. "You should know I am grateful you were willing to asked for my 'elp..." she nodded. "I dz'ought you ought to know..."

"You should know I am grateful you were willing to asked for my 'elp..." she nodded. "I dz'ought you ought to know..."

Bane began to wash her hand off at the sink, cleaning the wound. He remained quiet as he did so. The sound of the running water filled the silent room. One hand remaining on hers, as his other goes for a small bag sitting by the sink, which he pulls a simple cloth from - using it to dry off her wounded hand.

Image
"I'm grateful for you.. " He says, still looking down at her hand in his hand. He lingers on that sentence for a long minute. " That you are willing to put up with the risk of helping me.. " He lets go of her hand, turning back, walking into the middle of the room. " As far as being treated some way.. After this is done.. They'll understand what I'm doing.. but until then.. I can't even begin to imagine they'd understand. "

Bane begins to collect a few things throughout the room- tossing them on the bed.

Collecting up a large box from the corner, Bane began to walk towards the door.

" I'm gonna put these files in the car first... We'll need them if they some back up before I get done packing.. " He says, opening the Hotel room door. He stopped, standing in the doorway with box in his arms. He turned back slowly, looking at Jacqueline like he wanted to say something... Something more then he knew he should... Bane shook his head slightly, biting his toungue, and headed out to the car - closing the door behind him.

Image
"Interesting..." said an unfamiliar male voice coming from the back - accompanied by an overwhelming sense of darkness filling the room.

Turning around, Jacqueline would see an older man leaning against the Hotel Room sink. In appearance, he is not that unlike Marcus - Slender build, untrimmed face, button-up shirt, black jacket and pants. However unlike Bane, this man was much older - likely in his early 50s, slightly taller or in higher heeled shoes, stood with a cane in his hands, and came accompanied with an overwhelming sense of dread. With no visible back door, and having not been more then 10 feet away from the front, he could not have possible walked in without someone noticing.

" You should really be much more careful about letting your 'mind wounder' ... " he says, clearly implying her recent astral projection trip. " You never know when you might 'bump' into someone.. " His lips curling into a smile - which would leave you with more worry then comfort.

Jacqueline watched Bane as he collected his materials in a box, feeling a little helpless. She wanted to help him, make him feel better about the whole thing.

"I'm gonna put these in the car first...We'll need them if they come back before I'm done packing..."

Jacqueline simply nodded, her arm crossed over her chest, her hand gently holding the other arm at the elbow.

Queitly, she watched him turn as if he were about to say something but changed his mind before walking out.

Image
She sighed before an overwhelming sense of darkness loomed from behind her, causing her to rub the chills from the back of her neck.

"Interesting." Said a voice from behind. Jacqueline turned around with a start as an older man leaned against the sink.
She backed up some, the corner of her eyes keeping her attention on the gun on the bed.
"You should really be much more careful about letting your 'mind wonder'..."
Image
Jacqueline's eyes went wide.
"What..?"

"You never know when you might 'bump' into someone."

Jacqueline's nostrils flared in annoyance.

"Stay away." She barked, as her mind scanned for a protection spell and backing away some more, hopefully toward the door so Bane could see her clearly having a conversation. "You know dz'is is a Witch 'unter's 'otel room, 'e'll be back any second." She said, as her hand slipped into her bag and gripped a book from inside.
She couldn't believe just how terrifying this man was, Was he the one they were after? How did he know where to find them? How'd he get in here? How did he know about her astroprojection?

More importantly, Where in the Hell was Bane?

Jacqueline held up her hand blew pure salt in the man's eyes before side stepping and running for the bed, she gripped Bane's gun and turned toward him.

He grimaced as his hand went flying to his eyes as he stumbled backwards, letting out a hiss that sounded like Cicadas on a hot summer day. "You little BITCH.. " He growls.

"You dz'ink dz'at burns..." She said and cocked the hammer. "Come closer..."

As he removed his hand from his eyes, he looked at Jacqueline with eyes now glowing red. Rage flowed through this man as the terrifying smile was replaced with that of a more horrific scowl.

" I will warn you once... " He says looking the girl up and down. " Stay away from Marcus Bane... if you value your life. "

As he speaks, there would be a sudden pounding on the front door. ".. Jacqueline?" bane could be hear yelling from the other side, before the pounding becomes louder - as Bane began to try and kick in the door.

Image " If you don't .. I get the feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of each other... " says the Mystery man as his smile begins to curl again. He gives her a slow bow, before the front door would fly open - just as he vanishes.

Bane stood in the doorway- breathing heavily as he looked around the room.

"Jacqueline!?"

" I will warn you once... " The man hissed and Jacqueline stood there, her breathing heavy. " Stay away from Marcus Bane... if you value your life. " " If you value yours, you'll stay away from me." She warned him, her hands still on the gun. Her brown eyes wide and full of fury and fear.
".. Jacqueline?"

There was banging on the door, now, Bane couldn't get in for whatever reason but she couldn't think about that now.
Image
" If you don't .. I get the feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of each other... " He said and Jacqueline frowned. " I'm sure we well." She said as he disappeared.

Bane stood in the doorway- breathing heavily as he looked around the room.

Image "Jacqueline!?" He said, snapping her back to the present. She looked at the door, dropped her hand and then to her knees and began to sob, shivering much too much for a warm day in New Orleans.
"He came from nowhere....claims he wasn't a witch but he used magic....Dz'ere was so much darkness....I've never felt such powerful darkness before..." She sobbed. It didn't matter that she was prepared the fight, she was still terrified of him.

"He's is going to hurt me....for helping you....He told me....to stay away....I....I've never been so afraid in my life." She sobbed and closed her hands over her eyes and her sobs turned into terrified cries.

She dropped to the floor, shivering with fear. Bane rushed to her side, getting down on his knees as he tried to help her - but still had no idea what was really going on.

"He came from nowhere....claims he wasn't a witch but he used magic....Dz'ere was so much darkness....I've never felt such powerful darkness before..." She sobbed. Bane looked around the room in a flurry, trying to find whoever she was talking about before turning his attention back to her.

"Who!? Who did this!? " he.asked her while trying to hug her, comforting her the only way he knew how.

"He's is going to hurt me....for helping you....He told me....to stay away....I....I've never been so afraid in my life." She sobbed. Bane face turned from a look of panic to a look of anger.

"Listen- Jacqueline. Listen!" He said, placing his hands on her face. "I'm not going to let anyone hurt you, I promise- okay!?" Bane would try and brush a tear off her face as he looked into her eyes. "Whoever it was.. we have them scared- don't you see? Otherwise they wouldn't have shown themselves to you. We are doing the right thing here- we are... "

Bane would try and comfort her again, holding her tight against him. "And they should be scared..."

Marcus kept holding her, even as he saw that she was beginning to calm down. She looked up at him, her eyes finding his - and it was at that moment, on the inside, he felt like he had been struck by lightning. His heart rate suddenly increasing, his palms suddenly damping, if he would have been standing- his legs would have become weak, all in a sudden 'flash' realization as he sat there with her. He had feelings for her - not just attraction or lust, which would be easy to believe - but something more.

Image "Marcus..." She said, causing him to come out of his internal 'stuper'. The cry of sirens could be heard from the distance.

"We 'ave to go." She said looking away, pulling herself from him. "Dz'ey'll be 'ere soon." Bane nodded slowly, remaining on his knees for a moment as she began to stand. He remains looking down for a moment, his skin having turned pale as though he'd seen a ghost. Rather.. he had felt one... He hadn't felt this way since his wife died....

"'ere you drive, I...can't." She said and placed the keys in his hands, her fingers lingering on his for a moment too long. He would look up at her as she put the keys in his hands, and both of his hands would wrap around hers, giving her a soft smile and a nod.

Finally jumping up, he nods again - grabbing a duffle bag out of the closet, and starts tossing things off the bed into it.

Image "You're right.. Unless you think we could talk the Cops into believing the door got kicked in and the mirror got shot all accidentally.. " He says as a small smirk would start to form on his face - already forgetting about all the trouble they were already in - and the Myster Man that had just been added to the puzzle. He darted around the room, picking up speed and energy as he finishes gathering his things. He seems oddly.... happy?

" Alright - Go go go go! " He says, picking up the duffle bag and starting to push Jacqueline along out the door. Bane knew he was acting odd - but he felt... oddly good. He liked this girl... and while he knew it could never work... ever... the feeling was his to keep for now. Nearly pushing her the whole way to the car - Bane tossed the duffle bag into the back seat.

"Where to?" he asked as he jumped into the drivers side of the car.

It felt like forever as his hands wrapped around hers, and he smiled softly at her. How long they were like that she didn't know nor did she care. It just felt...good.
Suddenly, he got to his feet and released her hands.

"You're right.. Unless you think we could talk the Cops into believing the door got kicked in and the mirror got shot all accidentally.. " Marcus said, he seemed oddly...relaxed then he had been and somewhat more chipper. It was a odd yet refreshing. She didn't know what was going on in his mind but whatever it was, she hoped it was good.
Image
She watched him gather his things with an amused expression. " I can talk most anyone into anydz'ing...however a gunshot would be a stretch even for me.." she said with a bit of a tired smile.

Before long, Marcus got to shoving her out the door, "Marcus, I can walk." She said but was laughing as she spoke. It was strange after such a terrifying experience, with Marcus here, she felt a bit more relaxed herself.

"Alright, go go go." He urged and Jacqueline just giggled. " I'm going." She said and soon they were in the car, her in the passenger seat.

"Where to?"

"Toward the Bayou," She told him. "And Marcus, let's try doing dz'e speed limit dz'is time, Oui?" She said.
Image
Once he pulled off and they'd been driving for a while, she began to think. He said he been having the same type of dream. It made her curious about his connection with Ghede Nibo, he could possible be visiting the afterlife in his sleep and not be aware of it. She wanted to help him with that.
She turned to him and with straight face, she said.

"I want you to sleep with me."

Image "Toward the Bayou," She told him. "And Marcus, let's try doing dz'e speed limit dz'is time, Oui?"

"I never make a promise I don't intend on keeping.. " He says as he turns onto the road. ".... and I'm promising nothing!" He says as he taps the accelerator for a moment, clearly still in a playful mood. He smirks, looking between her and the road. " I'll try.. but if we start getting passed by Old Ladies, I can't be held accountable for my actions. "

As they began their trek towards the Bayou, Bane would pull a CD out of the middle armrest - letting it play on low volume. He seemed relaxed, even smiling every once in a while - something rare before his recent 'upswing' of a mood. He hums lightly along to the tune, clearly enjoying himself as he turned his head to look Jacqueline over - noticing she clearly had something on her mind ... something he hoped wasn't about the mission at hand.. she had already been through a lot today.

She turned to him and with straight face, she said. "I want you to sleep with me."

Image Clearly taken back by the sudden 'request' Bane lets out a short chuckle. The idea of the two of them had obviously crossed his mind before - and she had proven she could flirt with the best of them - but he never imagined anything that straight forward... She had to have something in mind...

"What, right here? Or can I at least find a place to park first?" He says, clearly joking. He keeps looking between her and the road. " Or better yet - we'll do it right here - and I'll just drive with my knees."

His smile widened as he thought of several other comments... which he thought best to keep to himself less this offer suddenly 'vanish'. "What do you mean - " he finally asks.

"What, right here? Or can I at least find a place to park first?" He replied and Jacqueline laughed hard. ImageShe knew that was going to get an interesting reaction. "Or better yet- we'll do it right here- and I'll drive with my knees." He continued, and Jacqueline couldn't stop laughing, waiting for more crude remarks. "What do you mean?" He asked finally and Jacqueline caught her breath.
Image

"To start, Mon'chere. If I wanted you, I wouldn't 'ave to ask."She replied and gave a grin with a wink.

"But dz'at not what I meant." She said and looked briefly out the window.

"You told me about your dreams. About dz'e beach." She said. " I am what is called a Dreamwalker, I can leave my consciousness and enter your dreams. I dz'ink I can 'elp you with yours"

She said, she felt a little nervousness as the thought of that mystery man appearing again, and he warned her about using her ability, that and running the risk of begin trapped. She shook it away, as she looked at him and smiled. She looked out of the window and saw the exit coming up.

"Turn here." She said. " I think you're dreams will let me know if you are Ghede Nibo, or not." She told him. "I suppose we can share a bed during dz'e process. " She with a sly grin.

"To start, Mon'chere. If I wanted you, I wouldn't 'ave to ask."She replied and gave a grin with a wink.

Image "Ooh-hoo" He says, grinning in turn.

"But dz'at not what I meant." She said and looked briefly out the window. "You told me about your dreams. About dz'e beach." She said. " I am what is called a Dreamwalker, I can leave my consciousness and enter your dreams. I dz'ink I can 'elp you with yours"

Bane looked at her again, with a bit of a confusion in his eyes.

"Help me? I don't think I need help with dreaming.. I've been doing it for a few years now.. " He says, joking... but clearly not understanding fully.

"Turn here." She said. Bane obliged, turning off onto the exit.

" I think you're dreams will let me know if you are Ghede Nibo, or not." She told him. "I suppose we can share a bed during dz'e process. " She with a sly grin. Bane grinned, shaking his head as he continued to follow the road.

"Promises promises.. " He says, his eyes not leaving the road. " Are we doing this before.. or after we go through that big box of dead people in my back seat?"

"Promises, Promises..." Marcus said and Jacqueline laughed some more, probably just due to the fact that she needed to after the incident at the hotel. It felt nice.
Image
"Are we doing this before...or after we go through that big box of dead people in my back seat?"

"After, Work before pleasure." She told him with a wink. " Besides, dz'e last dz'ing I want to see before bed, is dead bodies...I don't dream but I know dz'at will keep me up all night." She said with a raise of her brow.

"If you don't want, dz'at is fine by me, I just dz'ought you should know , I could 'elp, if your dreams become too dark."

She said and was quiet for the rest of the ride, save for a few directions here and there.

Soon, they were at her home, a large plantation, tucked behind bowing oak tress.
Image
The place was haunted before she and her mother moved in. Her mother since moved into the city but Jacqueline stayed, the solidute kept her dreamless sleep, just that. Dreamless.

"'ere we are." She said as he pulled up. " You are probably wondering why one girl needs a 'ouse this large. Well... I don't, but people believed it was haunted so dz'ey stay away, which owrks for me." She said and shrugged, she climbed out of the car and stretched for a moment before her eyes landed on a vulgar word painted on one o the tower pillers o her home.

"Perfect..." She spat, throwing up her hands in frustration and stormed inside, careful of her step, more salt lined the doorway. "Just what I need right now..."

"Never been a fan of the work before pleasure mentality myself, but... The Lady's Choice it is." He says as he gives her yet another smile.

"If you don't want, dz'at is fine by me, I just dz'ought you should know , I could 'elp, if your dreams become too dark."

Bane nodded as she talked, his smile fading slightly as she mentions dark dreams. He stayed quiet for a minute before finally speaking.

"Just... don't put yourself in danger because of something in my dream, alright?" He says, making eye contact with her for a moment to make sure she knew he was serious.

The rest of the ride went smoothly, he following her directions as they drove further into the bayou. The house they arrived as was impressive to be sure - an old plantation, very sizable and spacious - framed from the street by tall old Oak trees. Bane nodded in 'acceptance'. This was much better then any of the hotels he'd stayed at in the past few years - both in appearance ... and company.

"'ere we are." She said as he pulled up. " You are probably wondering why one girl needs a 'ouse this large. Well... I don't, but people believed it was haunted so dz'ey stay away, which works for me." She said and shrugged.

"Ain't afraid of no ghosts. " He mumbles along to the Ghost busters theme.

she climbed out of the car and stretched for a moment before her eyes landed on a vulgar word painted on one of the tower pillers of her home.

Bane frowned, following her out the car. He felt slightly guilty... This was the type of thing his people use to do to try and run off would be witches.

"Perfect..." She spat, throwing up her hands in frustration and stormed inside, careful of her step, more salt lined the doorway. "Just what I need right now..."

He followed her inside, remaining silent as he looked around, taking in the houses beauty.

"That... sorta thing.. happen often?" He finally asked, pointing back over his shoulder towards the front porch.

(Sorry... it's not much.. All I could do on my lunch break XD)

"More times dz'en I like to admit." Jacqueline replied. "I am,the great granddaughter of the Voodoo Queen, Dz'at sort of dz'ing doesn't sit well with everyone....Crusaders made sure of dz'at." She said somewhat ruefully. "It's funny, I come out here to get away, only to find dz'is everyday...." She said and lead him through the palor room and into the large living room.

Image Bane looked away from her slowly, he felt guilty again - He had no idea who she was before meeting her today, but it defiantly something the Crusaders would have - and probably had done. He follows her through the parlor, looking up as he enters the Living room - Rustic yet Modern... Nice... It held onto its Louisiana roots while making way for the modern world... It's almost to fitting for the way their lives have been playing out... Trapped in a cycle that was created 100s of years ago, even as they moved into an era that didn't believe either of them existed... Yet here they are - holding onto the ways of the past while the modern world keeps building up around them. He smirks to himself, shaking his head.

The sound of thunder in the distance brought Bane out of his thoughts and back to the real world.

"Make yourself comfortable," She told him, plopping on the large couch that faced the television, throwing her feet on the coffee table, that was covered in fashion magazines and a few fantasy novels. "You can set your files 'ere, so we can get started."

" I'll get them from the car here in a moment... " He says, stepping further into the room looking over the various items throughout the room. Glancing at over the cluttered coffee table he half expected to find a novel with Favio on the cover.

Image "Gotta admit... This isn't exactly the kind of home I'd imagine a Witch living out of... " Bane says, walking past the couch and glancing out a window - noting the wind was picking up and the clouds rolling in from off in the distance. "But... then again.." He says, turning back to look at her. "Royalty has to live in style - don't they, Ms. Voodoo Princess of New Orleans." He says as he gives her a wink.

Another crackle of thunder can be heard in the distance, this time much closer.

"Perhaps... I should get those files now... before it rains.. " He says, heading out towards the car to retrieve his various things and the box of files.

Image Marcus watched the sky as he stepped outside - the distant storm clouds now drawling over the sun, causing the formerly sunny bright afternoon to become but a memory as it became rapidly darker outside. The wind had already picked up - causing the old Oak Trees out front of the house to creek in the wind. This storm was coming.. and it was coming fast...

Walking out to the car he popped open his back door - the wind catching it, causing it to swing open. Pulling out his dufflebag first, he swung it over his shouder so he would have the free hands to grab the box. As he lifted the box up out of the car, the wind caught the lid - causing it and several papers to fly out.

"Great.. " Bane groaned, placing the box down on the ground, then the duffle bag down on top of it to try and prevent any further loses- he began to chase after the loose papers. One by one he managed to collect up the papers before they got to far away, all the while the storm grew closer. Grabbing the last piece he turned to head back for his things - stopping for a moment as he realized what was on the paper. " Hhhhmm.." He might have just found himself a new lead...

Image " Hey... I think I might have a new lead. " Marcus yelled as he entered the house. The gusting wind from outside making his return obvious as it would have blown through the house as soon as he opened the door. " Seems I'm not the first to have noticed this trend of murders.. " He says as he walks through the parlor and into the living room. " an Officer Tucker had made a note on the back of one of his reports that - ... Wow.. " Bane stops dead in his tracks as he sees Jacqueline sitting on the couch in her wardrobe change. He seems to have forgotten what he was saying as he simply stared at her for a moment, something about her this way just... did something to him ... made him forget what he was.. what she was... what they were doing.

"Erm.. Sorry.. What was I saying?" He says shaking his head as he finally 'snaps' out of it.

"Um, You were talking about the case, You said you may 'ave found a new lead?" She told him a patting a place on the couch beside her. "Let's see it dz'en?"

"Right" He says, walking over to the couch, putting down the box of files on the coffee table. He hands her a paper as he sits down on the couch next to her. It appears to be a page out of the middle of a case report filed by an 'Officer Tucker'. The back of the page has a hand written note, likely scribbled out by said officer.

Thunder cracking again, this time with the obvious flash of light coming in through the windows.

" Officer Tucker seems to have noticed the similarity in the way of these people died as well... " He says as he leans into her shoulder and pointing towards the scribbled note on the page. As he talks, the sound of rain would be heard as it began to fall down on the old house. The note reads 'Arkansa Asphyxiations Moving South?'.

"Which leads me to believe... maybe these murders didn't start in Louisiana ... Maybe this has been going on for much longer then 10 years - it's just made it's way here now." The lights would flicker as the storm began its rage outside - the wind whipping up and rain sounding more like hail as it crashes down on the house.

Image "Wow, dz'at storm came in quickly." She said. Bane nodded in agreement.

"I didn't see any storm clouds on the way in.. but those things can sneak up on you... " He says as he sits back on the couch as the lights flicker again.

"You may 'ave to stay dz'e night..." She said softly "Dz'e road we came down is dz'e only way in or out...and it floods from time to time." He nodded in understanding - his heart was suddenly pounding like he had just ran a 100 miles. What on earth... all he could do was nod.. normally he'd make a comment about she was just trying to get him to stick around or take the opportunity to make a move, not something he WASN'T thinking of doing such a thing... he was still alive, but he just felt content sitting here with her.

Another loud crack caused her to jump, and snapping her out of it. She moved back some and cleared her throat. "Um...I'll get some candles...just in case." She said and quickly got off the couch and made her way out of the living room and toward the kitchen. Now alone Bane sighed, getting to to his feet and walking around the room... His heart was still pounding like he was some high schooler with a crush. Letting himself use the 'high' of a new crush was one thing - but he knew it could never go anywhere... didn't he?

Even a one night stand would be out of the question in this situation... She was still a Witch... He was still a Crusader... Even if he didn't have the blood lust the others had ... She was everything he stood against... or... had stood against. Noticing his Jacket sitting on the back of the couch, he picked it up... It smelled like her now... and he liked that oddly enough.

"Seriously!?" He heard her yell from within the Kitten. He tried to ignore it... Didn't wanna seem to protective just because she couldn't find a candle. It was only when he heard the sound of a screen door creaking did his curiosity get the better of him. Starting to pull on his jacket, he wondered into the Kitchen to investigate what was going on.

Image As he entered the Kitchen his attention immediately turned to the backdoor as he heard a man yell.

"Yer gonna pay for that, Witch Bitch!" The voice yelled - Bane ran to the door, throwing it open to discover group of men standing over Jacqueline. Banes eyes wided, nostrils flaring, his teeth began to grid, and his vision went red.

"Hey! Asshole!" He yelled, stepping out into the rain - had anyone been able to see his eyes, they would have seen the blaze burning within them. "YOU PICKED THE WRONG WITCH TO FUCK WITH TODAY!!!.. " He yelled as his hand delved into his Jacket pocket - pulling out a pair of brass knuckles.

Image "Go on, Get" The man told Bane, holding his gun to him. He had to act fast, this situation was rapidly going from bad to worse.

Maybe Jacqueline was right, maybe he wasn't a Crusader - but he knew he had three things in common with them. He was Strong, Resilient to Magic, and he healed wound quickly - but the gun could still kill him long before he could heal any amount of damage. He had to distract them... and Red Necks like Criminals were nothing if not superstitious. One hand still held tight to his brass knuckles, the other hand sank into his pocket, pullling out the gold chained Crucifix. He wrapped its chain around his fist as he held it up to be seen in the little light the porch still provided.

"Be merciful to me, my God,
for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
all day long they press their attack. "

Bane began to yell, as he paused another strike of Lightning can be seen - as the lights would flicker throughout the house again. The loud rumble of thunder rolling over the top of them all.

"My adversaries pursue me all day long;
in their pride many are attacking me."

He continued as he walked closer to the man with the gun, now holding the Crucifix high in the air. The already rapid wind would seem to shift directions on them for a moment, as if Marcus himself were conjuring some force - a lucky event for him.

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid."

He stood up a foot or so away from the man now, still holding the crucifix high towards the raining sky and clouds. Another strike of lightly following his words - as the power would suddenly cut out. His lucky day. He knew how to fight in the dark, he really doubted they did....

"What can mere mortals do to me?!"

Image
Marcus screamed his last line as he would leap onto towards the man - running his Brass Knuckles over his face with the kind of force normally reserved for those whom he sought to kill. He would continue beating the man - pulling back again only to slam his fist into his face yet again and again with the same level of force - This attack continues until either the man would shoot Marcus or drop his gun.

"Over in the hills...There grows a flower,"
"Growing quicker still more perfect by the hour,"

Jacqueline began softly, as Bane would slowly let go of her hand. Placing both of his hands on her leg slowly he looked it over- making sure he knew what direction he would have to move her. The storm yet raging on.

"Growing the flower,"
"Sits a tiny chair,"

His breathing falling in line with hers, time would seem to slow from Banes point of view as he took grip around the root.

"All a fringed with gold the Fairy Queen sits there."

With a sudden jerk, Bane ripped the root clean from Jacqueline's leg, leaving it with a rather large hole, but now 'root' free. Quickly pulling the soaking jacket off his back, he would do his best to wrap it around her leg, tying it tight to try and reduce any blood lose. Bane would then take her up in his arms.

"It's going to be okay.. " He says as he turned back towards the house - only to be stopped dead in his tracks. The mud soaked man, that Bane had nearly suffocated just a minute ago, stood with the discarded gun in his hand, pointing it towards the two of them. Bane went wide eyed - He knew how to fight with his hands full, but not while carrying an injured person, and defiantly not against a man standing 30 feet away holding a gun.

Bane was frozen, unable to make a decision on how to act - He couldn't think of a possible way out of this without risking her life, and that's something he just couldn't possibly do. His heart began to race- he had to act... he had to do something!... SOMETHING!

Suddenly Jacqueline would begin to mutter out something - not sure what she was doing for sure, but he had a feeling it was some form of magic. His suspicions were confirmed as the incredibly large bolt of lightning came down and struck the gun and flowed into the man. His body convulsing and twitching as it glowed as radiant as the noon day sun - forcing Bane to shut his eyes, turning away.

As his eyes opened, Bane could do nothing but stare at the ashy remains of the man as they quickly began to wash away in the rain. Bane simply stood there, holding Jacqueline in his arms... as the rain pouring down upon them.

"I kill...I...Marcus I didn't mean to...I just wanted him to stay away..." She whimpered before crying into his chest, her shaking beginning again. "I'm so sorry...." Again, Marcus says nothing - not even really breathing as his thoughts began to fire off in his head, almost like he was arguing with himself. Her actions just there were basically everything he fought against... but she had saved him... and had she not done that, they both would have been dead.

"Ssshh... It's okay.." He finally says, starting to walk towards the darkened house again. He had made his decision, he was sticking by her till the end of this - Through the thick and thin. Rushing into the House, he placed her on the kitchen table - knocking off everything that had been sitting on it in the process.

"Light!" He said, as soon as he placed her down. "Some Light! A flashlight! Candles! A Lantern- I need something if I'm gonna be able to do anything about your leg! - " He yells as he would start searching her cabnits - the mud flinging from his hands and feet as he darted about the room. He knew if he didn't do something... she could bleed out before an ambulance would arrive, if an ambulance could even make it out here in this weather.

"Do you have a First AID kit? Gaze, some Duct-tape? Anything!?" He said, becoming frustrated as he was unable to navigate her house.

Image Bane collected several candles and the first aid kit, placing several of the candles on the table - pulling out his lighter and lighting the candles.

"Ghede..." She said softly, her eyes springing open - lookin at Marcus as he began to kneel down next to her leg.

"Ghede?" He mimicked back in the form of a question as he began his 'work'. Taking a deep breath as he would go to pull off the jacket tangled around her leg. Trying to go slow to prevent any further pain, he turned his face away from her so she wouldn't see the worry on his face. The wound was bad... and she was still bleeding pretty heavily. She was going to bleed out if he couldn't stop it soon.

"Hey! I need you to stay awake here! Talk to me!" Bane said, turning to look at her.

(sorry this is so short! >.<)
