Jacqueline Lavaeu

It felt like forever as his hands wrapped around hers, and he smiled softly at her. How long they were like that she didn't know nor did she care. It just felt...good.
Suddenly, he got to his feet and released her hands.

"You're right.. Unless you think we could talk the Cops into believing the door got kicked in and the mirror got shot all accidentally.. " Marcus said, he seemed oddly...relaxed then he had been and somewhat more chipper. It was a odd yet refreshing. She didn't know what was going on in his mind but whatever it was, she hoped it was good.
Image
She watched him gather his things with an amused expression. " I can talk most anyone into anydz'ing...however a gunshot would be a stretch even for me.." she said with a bit of a tired smile.

Before long, Marcus got to shoving her out the door, "Marcus, I can walk." She said but was laughing as she spoke. It was strange after such a terrifying experience, with Marcus here, she felt a bit more relaxed herself.

"Alright, go go go." He urged and Jacqueline just giggled. " I'm going." She said and soon they were in the car, her in the passenger seat.

"Where to?"

"Toward the Bayou," She told him. "And Marcus, let's try doing dz'e speed limit dz'is time, Oui?" She said.
Image
Once he pulled off and they'd been driving for a while, she began to think. He said he been having the same type of dream. It made her curious about his connection with Ghede Nibo, he could possible be visiting the afterlife in his sleep and not be aware of it. She wanted to help him with that.
She turned to him and with straight face, she said.

"I want you to sleep with me."

Image "Toward the Bayou," She told him. "And Marcus, let's try doing dz'e speed limit dz'is time, Oui?"

"I never make a promise I don't intend on keeping.. " He says as he turns onto the road. ".... and I'm promising nothing!" He says as he taps the accelerator for a moment, clearly still in a playful mood. He smirks, looking between her and the road. " I'll try.. but if we start getting passed by Old Ladies, I can't be held accountable for my actions. "

As they began their trek towards the Bayou, Bane would pull a CD out of the middle armrest - letting it play on low volume. He seemed relaxed, even smiling every once in a while - something rare before his recent 'upswing' of a mood. He hums lightly along to the tune, clearly enjoying himself as he turned his head to look Jacqueline over - noticing she clearly had something on her mind ... something he hoped wasn't about the mission at hand.. she had already been through a lot today.

She turned to him and with straight face, she said. "I want you to sleep with me."

Image Clearly taken back by the sudden 'request' Bane lets out a short chuckle. The idea of the two of them had obviously crossed his mind before - and she had proven she could flirt with the best of them - but he never imagined anything that straight forward... She had to have something in mind...

"What, right here? Or can I at least find a place to park first?" He says, clearly joking. He keeps looking between her and the road. " Or better yet - we'll do it right here - and I'll just drive with my knees."

His smile widened as he thought of several other comments... which he thought best to keep to himself less this offer suddenly 'vanish'. "What do you mean - " he finally asks.

"What, right here? Or can I at least find a place to park first?" He replied and Jacqueline laughed hard. ImageShe knew that was going to get an interesting reaction. "Or better yet- we'll do it right here- and I'll drive with my knees." He continued, and Jacqueline couldn't stop laughing, waiting for more crude remarks. "What do you mean?" He asked finally and Jacqueline caught her breath.

"To start, Mon'chere. If I wanted you, I wouldn't 'ave to ask."She replied and gave a grin with a wink.

"But dz'at not what I meant." She said and looked briefly out the window.

"You told me about your dreams. About dz'e beach." She said. " I am what is called a Dreamwalker, I can leave my consciousness and enter your dreams. I dz'ink I can 'elp you with yours"

She said, she felt a little nervousness as the thought of that mystery man appearing again, and he warned her about using her ability, that and running the risk of begin trapped. She shook it away, as she looked at him and smiled. She looked out of the window and saw the exit coming up.

"Turn here." She said. " I think you're dreams will let me know if you are Ghede Nibo, or not." She told him. "I suppose we can share a bed during dz'e process. " She with a sly grin.

Bane looked at her again, with a bit of a confusion in his eyes.

"Help me? I don't think I need help with dreaming.. I've been doing it for a few years now.. " He says, joking... but clearly not understanding fully.

"Turn here." She said. Bane obliged, turning off onto the exit.

" I think you're dreams will let me know if you are Ghede Nibo, or not." She told him. "I suppose we can share a bed during dz'e process. " She with a sly grin. Bane grinned, shaking his head as he continued to follow the road.

"Promises promises.. " He says, his eyes not leaving the road. " Are we doing this before.. or after we go through that big box of dead people in my back seat?"

"Promises, Promises..." Marcus said and Jacqueline laughed some more, probably just due to the fact that she needed to after the incident at the hotel. It felt nice.
Image
"Are we doing this before...or after we go through that big box of dead people in my back seat?"

"After, Work before pleasure." She told him with a wink. " Besides, dz'e last dz'ing I want to see before bed, is dead bodies...I don't dream but I know dz'at will keep me up all night." She said with a raise of her brow.

"If you don't want, dz'at is fine by me, I just dz'ought you should know , I could 'elp, if your dreams become too dark."

She said and was quiet for the rest of the ride, save for a few directions here and there.

Soon, they were at her home, a large plantation, tucked behind bowing oak tress.
Image
The place was haunted before she and her mother moved in. Her mother since moved into the city but Jacqueline stayed, the solidute kept her dreamless sleep, just that. Dreamless.

"'ere we are." She said as he pulled up. " You are probably wondering why one girl needs a 'ouse this large. Well... I don't, but people believed it was haunted so dz'ey stay away, which owrks for me." She said and shrugged, she climbed out of the car and stretched for a moment before her eyes landed on a vulgar word painted on one o the tower pillers o her home.

"Perfect..." She spat, throwing up her hands in frustration and stormed inside, careful of her step, more salt lined the doorway. "Just what I need right now..."

"Never been a fan of the work before pleasure mentality myself, but... The Lady's Choice it is." He says as he gives her yet another smile.

"If you don't want, dz'at is fine by me, I just dz'ought you should know , I could 'elp, if your dreams become too dark."

Bane nodded as she talked, his smile fading slightly as she mentions dark dreams. He stayed quiet for a minute before finally speaking.

"Just... don't put yourself in danger because of something in my dream, alright?" He says, making eye contact with her for a moment to make sure she knew he was serious.

The rest of the ride went smoothly, he following her directions as they drove further into the bayou. The house they arrived as was impressive to be sure - an old plantation, very sizable and spacious - framed from the street by tall old Oak trees. Bane nodded in 'acceptance'. This was much better then any of the hotels he'd stayed at in the past few years - both in appearance ... and company.

"'ere we are." She said as he pulled up. " You are probably wondering why one girl needs a 'ouse this large. Well... I don't, but people believed it was haunted so dz'ey stay away, which works for me." She said and shrugged.

"Ain't afraid of no ghosts. " He mumbles along to the Ghost busters theme.

she climbed out of the car and stretched for a moment before her eyes landed on a vulgar word painted on one of the tower pillers of her home.

Bane frowned, following her out the car. He felt slightly guilty... This was the type of thing his people use to do to try and run off would be witches.

"Perfect..." She spat, throwing up her hands in frustration and stormed inside, careful of her step, more salt lined the doorway. "Just what I need right now..."

He followed her inside, remaining silent as he looked around, taking in the houses beauty.

"That... sorta thing.. happen often?" He finally asked, pointing back over his shoulder towards the front porch.

(Sorry... it's not much.. All I could do on my lunch break XD)

"That sort of thing...happen often..."

"More times dz'en I like to admit." Jacqueline replied. "I am,the great granddaughter of the Voodoo Queen, Dz'at sort of dz'ing doesn't sit well with everyone....Crusaders made sure of dz'at." She said somewhat ruefully.

"It's funny, I come out here to get away, only to find dz'is everyday...." She said and lead him through the palor room and into the large living room.

The place honestly looked like you'd stepped through time, save for the television, cable box, and computers. It's classic Louisiana charm still lingered.

"Make yourself comfortable," She told him, plopping on the large couch that faced the television, throwing her feet on the coffee table, that was covered in fashion magazines and a few fantasy novels.

"You can set your files 'ere, so we can get started."

(That's alright, I'm a bit pressed for time myself, I just couldn't resist xD)

She said somewhat ruefully. "It's funny, I come out here to get away, only to find dz'is everyday...." She said and lead him through the palor room and into the large living room.

Image Bane looked away from her slowly, he felt guilty again - He had no idea who she was before meeting her today, but it defiantly something the Crusaders would have - and probably had done. He follows her through the parlor, looking up as he enters the Living room - Rustic yet Modern... Nice... It held onto its Louisiana roots while making way for the modern world... It's almost to fitting for the way their lives have been playing out... Trapped in a cycle that was created 100s of years ago, even as they moved into an era that didn't believe either of them existed... Yet here they are - holding onto the ways of the past while the modern world keeps building up around them. He smirks to himself, shaking his head.

The sound of thunder in the distance brought Bane out of his thoughts and back to the real world.

"Make yourself comfortable," She told him, plopping on the large couch that faced the television, throwing her feet on the coffee table, that was covered in fashion magazines and a few fantasy novels. "You can set your files 'ere, so we can get started."

" I'll get them from the car here in a moment... " He says, stepping further into the room looking over the various items throughout the room. Glancing at over the cluttered coffee table he half expected to find a novel with Favio on the cover.

Image "Gotta admit... This isn't exactly the kind of home I'd imagine a Witch living out of... " Bane says, walking past the couch and glancing out a window - noting the wind was picking up and the clouds rolling in from off in the distance. "But... then again.." He says, turning back to look at her. "Royalty has to live in style - don't they, Ms. Voodoo Princess of New Orleans." He says as he gives her a wink.

Another crackle of thunder can be heard in the distance, this time much closer.

"Perhaps... I should get those files now... before it rains.. " He says, heading out towards the car to retrieve his various things and the box of files.

"Gotta admit...This isn't exactly the kind of home I'd imagine a Witch living out of..." He said walking passed the couch and toward the window. "But...then again, Royalty has to live in style- don't they, Ms. Voodoo Princess of New Orleans." He added with a wink, and Jacqueline snorted a laugh.

"No Moi-même I'm a Queen." She said with a smirk just before a long crackle of thunder echoed outside.

"Perhaps....I should get those files now...before it rains." He said and she nodded.

"Alright." She said and stood up as he walked outside. She made her way upstairs, and decided to change out of her clothes. Before she'd been wearing a long black skirt, black boots, a black and purple corset with a lace shaw over her shoulders. She always dressed that way, in a neo gothic style, to show how proud she was of being Voodoo Priestess, and a good one at that, but at home. She dressed more comfortably. She grabbed a large vintage tee with Yoda on the front, and some loose short that showed off her long legs.

Somewhere in the back of her mind knew she grabbed those shorts because Marcus was here.

She then pulled her wavy black hair into a side ponytail that hung down her right side.

She looked like a normal girl...

She took a deep breath, just as another thunder clapped, this time closer then before.

She made her way back downstairs, barefoot, and sat onto couch again, this time, her legs crossed as she waited for Marcus to return.

Image Marcus watched the sky as he stepped outside - the distant storm clouds now drawling over the sun, causing the formerly sunny bright afternoon to become but a memory as it became rapidly darker outside. The wind had already picked up - causing the old Oak Trees out front of the house to creek in the wind. This storm was coming.. and it was coming fast...

Walking out to the car he popped open his back door - the wind catching it, causing it to swing open. Pulling out his dufflebag first, he swung it over his shouder so he would have the free hands to grab the box. As he lifted the box up out of the car, the wind caught the lid - causing it and several papers to fly out.

"Great.. " Bane groaned, placing the box down on the ground, then the duffle bag down on top of it to try and prevent any further loses- he began to chase after the loose papers. One by one he managed to collect up the papers before they got to far away, all the while the storm grew closer. Grabbing the last piece he turned to head back for his things - stopping for a moment as he realized what was on the paper. " Hhhhmm.." He might have just found himself a new lead...

Image " Hey... I think I might have a new lead. " Marcus yelled as he entered the house. The gusting wind from outside making his return obvious as it would have blown through the house as soon as he opened the door. " Seems I'm not the first to have noticed this trend of murders.. " He says as he walks through the parlor and into the living room. " an Officer Tucker had made a note on the back of one of his reports that - ... Wow.. " Bane stops dead in his tracks as he sees Jacqueline sitting on the couch in her wardrobe change. He seems to have forgotten what he was saying as he simply stared at her for a moment, something about her this way just... did something to him ... made him forget what he was.. what she was... what they were doing.

"Erm.. Sorry.. What was I saying?" He says shaking his head as he finally 'snaps' out of it.

"Hey...I think I might have a new lead." Marcus called as he reentered the house. Jacqueline looked up from her book.
"Seems I'm not the first to have noticed this trend of murders..." He said as he made his way through the palor and the living room, she turned, resting her arm on the top of the couch, listening to him. "An Officer Tucker had made a note on the back of one of his reports that-...Wow." He stopped short when his eyes landed on her. She looked up at him, with a tight smile. "Marcus?" She said, as he looked at her, just staring...no more like admiring. She couldn't help feel a bit bashful...Most people never saw her like this...especially not a Crusader.

"Erm...Sorry...What was I saying?" He said snapping out of it.

Jacqueline smiled to herself. "Um, You were talking about the case, You said you may 'ave found a new lead?" She told him a patting a place on the couch beside her. "Let's see it dz'en?" She said a little more chipper then she should have when discussing murders.

"Um, You were talking about the case, You said you may 'ave found a new lead?" She told him a patting a place on the couch beside her. "Let's see it dz'en?"

"Right" He says, walking over to the couch, putting down the box of files on the coffee table. He hands her a paper as he sits down on the couch next to her. It appears to be a page out of the middle of a case report filed by an 'Officer Tucker'. The back of the page has a hand written note, likely scribbled out by said officer.

Thunder cracking again, this time with the obvious flash of light coming in through the windows.

" Officer Tucker seems to have noticed the similarity in the way of these people died as well... " He says as he leans into her shoulder and pointing towards the scribbled note on the page. As he talks, the sound of rain would be heard as it began to fall down on the old house. The note reads 'Arkansa Asphyxiations Moving South?'.

"Which leads me to believe... maybe these murders didn't start in Louisiana ... Maybe this has been going on for much longer then 10 years - it's just made it's way here now." The lights would flicker as the storm began its rage outside - the wind whipping up and rain sounding more like hail as it crashes down on the house.

"Right." Marcus said and Jacqueline couldn't hid her small smile.

With that, he handed her a paper as he sat on the couch.

"Officer Tucker seems to have noticed this similarity in the way of these people died as well..." He said and leaned over her shoulder, causing her to turn her head some toward him as he pointed to the paper.

"Which leads me to believe...maybe these murders didn't start in Louisana...Maybe this has been going on for much longer then 10 years- it's just made it's way here now." He said, just as the lights began to flicker. She flinched and giggled some. "Wow, dz'at storm came in quickly." She said and realized how close she was to his face. "You may 'ave to stay dz'e night..." She said softly "Dz'e road we came down is dz'e only way in or out...and it floods from time to time." She said, and felt her heart race, as she found eyes traveling from his eyes to his lips and back again. Another loud crack caused her to jump, and snapping her out of it. She moved back some and cleared her throat. "Um...I'll get some candles...just in case." She said and quickly got off the couch and made her way out of the living room and toward the kitchen. She sighed to herself, leaning against the sink.

"What am I doing...?" She whispered to herself. It was strange, she could flirt with just about anyone and not feel a thing but with him....it was different...it made things...complicated.

She knelled down and reached under the skin, for some candles when she heard something out the backdoor. She looked out the small window to see a shadow dart across the deck.

"Seriously!?" She barked, and darted out the door without so much as a second thought.

"Hey!" She barked, looking out from the wrap around deck. The porchlight kept the deck alight however outside it, the acres of land covered in forest was darkened by the heavy rain. She felt footsteps to her left and she turned sharply and darted toward them only to find a group of men, clearly drunk and soaked with rain. "What are you doing?!" She barked, as one of them threw his empty bottle at the side of the house, while another releaving himself in the shrubbery. "Look there she is?!" cried of the men. "We don't want yer kind out here, girl!" said another one. Jacqueline rolled her eyes walking off of the deck, only to become soaked in minutes. "I don't care what you want, get off my property!" She yelled back. "What you gunna do about it? Put a spell on us?" said another one.

"No, You've already been inflicted with a horrible case of stupidity."

"You know fer a witch you got nice legs."

Jacqueline rolled her eyes, mumbled under her breath in French before turning around. "I'm calling dz'e Police."

Before she knew what happened, she was grabbed from behind and tossed on the ground.

"You ain't callin nobody." Said one standing over her. Jacqueline kicked out, her foot colliding with a vital piece of equipment causing one of the men to cry out. "Yer gonna pay for that, Witch Bitch!"

Image "Wow, dz'at storm came in quickly." She said. Bane nodded in agreement.

"I didn't see any storm clouds on the way in.. but those things can sneak up on you... " He says as he sits back on the couch as the lights flicker again.

"You may 'ave to stay dz'e night..." She said softly "Dz'e road we came down is dz'e only way in or out...and it floods from time to time." He nodded in understanding - his heart was suddenly pounding like he had just ran a 100 miles. What on earth... all he could do was nod.. normally he'd make a comment about she was just trying to get him to stick around or take the opportunity to make a move, not something he WASN'T thinking of doing such a thing... he was still alive, but he just felt content sitting here with her.

Another loud crack caused her to jump, and snapping her out of it. She moved back some and cleared her throat. "Um...I'll get some candles...just in case." She said and quickly got off the couch and made her way out of the living room and toward the kitchen. Now alone Bane sighed, getting to to his feet and walking around the room... His heart was still pounding like he was some high schooler with a crush. Letting himself use the 'high' of a new crush was one thing - but he knew it could never go anywhere... didn't he?

Even a one night stand would be out of the question in this situation... She was still a Witch... He was still a Crusader... Even if he didn't have the blood lust the others had ... She was everything he stood against... or... had stood against. Noticing his Jacket sitting on the back of the couch, he picked it up... It smelled like her now... and he liked that oddly enough.

"Seriously!?" He heard her yell from within the Kitten. He tried to ignore it... Didn't wanna seem to protective just because she couldn't find a candle. It was only when he heard the sound of a screen door creaking did his curiosity get the better of him. Starting to pull on his jacket, he wondered into the Kitchen to investigate what was going on.

Image As he entered the Kitchen his attention immediately turned to the backdoor as he heard a man yell.

"Yer gonna pay for that, Witch Bitch!" The voice yelled - Bane ran to the door, throwing it open to discover group of men standing over Jacqueline. Banes eyes wided, nostrils flaring, his teeth began to grid, and his vision went red.

"Hey! Asshole!" He yelled, stepping out into the rain - had anyone been able to see his eyes, they would have seen the blaze burning within them. "YOU PICKED THE WRONG WITCH TO FUCK WITH TODAY!!!.. " He yelled as his hand delved into his Jacket pocket - pulling out a pair of brass knuckles.

Jacqueline struggled as two men held her arms while the other stood over her. "Let go!" She grunted as they struggled to keep, her still.

The man standing over her loosen his belt. "Bring dz'at dz'ing anywhere near me and I'll tear it off!" She barked.

"Hey! Asshole!" Marcus suddenly appeared from the fog and rain. Jacqueline had to blink to make sure it was him. "YOU PICKED THE WRONG WITCH TO FUCK WITH TODAY!!!" He hollered and reached in his pocket. The men all turned around and with a sloppy grin. "Oh the bitch went an' got herself a boyfriend." He chortled. "What? you got some tail and now you gunna try an' be a hero?" He said, pulling a gun from the back of his pants. Jacqueline struggled some more under the two men's grip. "Listen here, boy, I don't know if you know this but this here ain't just a Witch. This here, is one of dem Voodoo Witches, A whore of The Devil." He said and Jacqueline's eyes sadden but briefly. "So You get on and let us do God's work,"

"I did not dz'ink your God condoned rape!" Jacqueline shouted as thunder clapped.

"Get her to the truck" He orderdd and the other two men began dragging Jacqueline across the now mudded yarn and toward the forest. Jacqueline's eyes went wide as she struggled some more, this time because of the rain, their grip slipped and Jacqueline was freed only for a moment, as one of the men grabbed her while the other slammed his fist into her stomach. Jacqueline felt the wind leave her and her body went limp for a moment. She recovered though, as the man wrapped his arms around her waist lifted her off the ground. She struggled still.

"Go on, Get" The man told Bane, holding his gun to him.

Image "Go on, Get" The man told Bane, holding his gun to him. He had to act fast, this situation was rapidly going from bad to worse.

Maybe Jacqueline was right, maybe he wasn't a Crusader - but he knew he had three things in common with them. He was Strong, Resilient to Magic, and he healed wound quickly - but the gun could still kill him long before he could heal any amount of damage. He had to distract them... and Red Necks like Criminals were nothing if not superstitious. One hand still held tight to his brass knuckles, the other hand sank into his pocket, pullling out the gold chained Crucifix. He wrapped its chain around his fist as he held it up to be seen in the little light the porch still provided.

"Be merciful to me, my God,
for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
all day long they press their attack. "

Bane began to yell, as he paused another strike of Lightning can be seen - as the lights would flicker throughout the house again. The loud rumble of thunder rolling over the top of them all.

"My adversaries pursue me all day long;
in their pride many are attacking me."

He continued as he walked closer to the man with the gun, now holding the Crucifix high in the air. The already rapid wind would seem to shift directions on them for a moment, as if Marcus himself were conjuring some force - a lucky event for him.

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid."

He stood up a foot or so away from the man now, still holding the crucifix high towards the raining sky and clouds. Another strike of lightly following his words - as the power would suddenly cut out. His lucky day. He knew how to fight in the dark, he really doubted they did....

"What can mere mortals do to me?!"

Marcus screamed his last line as he would leap onto towards the man - running his Brass Knuckles over his face with the kind of force normally reserved for those whom he sought to kill. He would continue beating the man - pulling back again only to slam his fist into his face yet again and again with the same level of force - This attack continues until either the man would shoot Marcus or drop his gun.

Jacqueline didn't know what happened as Marcus unleashed Hell on that man's face, he went limps after a few soild cracks to his skull. The one of the men holding her, darted over to to help his comrade while the other grips tightened.

Jacqueline used this opportunity and bit the man's arm, He hollared out and dropped her. He then grabbed her by the hair and yanked her back, throwing her to the ground...unforunately. a petrified tree branch found it's way through her leg as she fell. Her eyes went wide as her wound began to bleed. The man didn't care. Her climbed atop her, wrapped his hands around her neck.

Jacqueline in a panic reached out, her hand finding a rockand she swung, knocking him across his head, leaving him unconscious.

Jacqueline couldn't get up, the branch making it impossible to move.

She looked up and her eyes going wide.

"Marcus!" She cried noticing the last man going for the gun the other had lost in Marcus' attack.

Jacqueline whimpered trying to remove the branch but her vision began to blur as the pain was too intense. Everytime she touched the branch she felt a surge of pain that made her dizzy.

Bane was a stranger to none of the deadly sins, that included Wrath, which he seemed to have lost himself in as he continued to unhing on the man. The man now unconscious and likely with a fractured skull, if not worse, had become a subject Bane would not simply leave alone just because he no longer fought back as the torrential rain kept pouring down upon them.

"Marcus!" He would suddenly hear Jacqueline scream, bring his mind back to his real 'mission', saving her. Immediately jumping to his feet, he would look towards Jacqueline - but his eyes would first lock on man trying to grab the lost gun.

As the man knelt down to grab the gun, Marcus tackled him - both of them landing in the mud. Pushing himself up off the ground, Bane used the man's head as leverage - pushing him face down in the mud and holding him there. The man squirmed trying to get up - for a moment Bane released him - the man's face coming up out of the mud only long enough to take a gasp of air before Bane hand would be replaced by his foot - pushing down on the back of the man's head as he looked down at him with a look of rage.

The man kept struggling as Bane Kept his head down in the mud - the only sounds was from the man flapping in the mud struggling to breath and the crackle of lightning near by. It was Jacquelines whimper of pain that brought Bane out of his fogged vision of rage.

"Jacqueline!" He yelled, rushing to her side. Leaving the man gasping for air as Bane slide to a kneeled stop beside her.

Jacqueline watched as Marcus went at the other man this time, there was a darkness in his eyes, she could see it from where she was.

"Do you know what he does to little girls like you..." The mystery man's words echoed in her mind. She whimpered at the thought of Marcus being that man. It terrified her more then anything.
"Jacqueline!" Marcus called and slide down beside her. Concern now filling his eyes, and she knew it then.

No, Marcus may have been that man once...or not at all. Right now, with all the carnage, and blood. He did that to save her.

She looked at him shivering, her covered in blood and mud, eyes wide, soaking wet.

They were going to...if he hadn't have been here...they would have...all because she was a Witch.

With that, she wrapped her arms around him, buring her face into his shoulder, shaking hard, her tears disgused by the falling rain.

"They were..." She whimpered, barely audible over the rain and thunder.

"Is being what I am really so horrible dz'at I am no longer considered human..?" she cried into his shoulder. "I didn't ask to be a Witch! It is just what I am!"

Image "Is being what I am really so horrible dz'at I am no longer considered human..?" she cried into his shoulder. Bane placed a hand on the back of her head, trying to comfort her the only way he could as he tried to look over her leg, trying to figure out how to remove it with as little pain as possible - but the lack of light coming from the now powerless house and the sun being blacked out by the ever falling rain, Bane could only see during the Lightning flashes, making the task nearly impossible.

"I didn't ask to be a Witch! It is just what I am!" she continued to cry into his shoulder, giving Marcus pause. Looking back up at her crying into his shoulder - would genitally make her look up at her face. The rain continuing to fall down on both of them as he finally spoke.

"All you are.. Is you!" He yells over the sound of the storm. " and if they are afraid of you, let them be! You are so much better then they ever could be - and you will only become so much more!" As he yells to her - the man that Bane had held down into the mud continued to hack up what had filled his lung.

" Jacqueline ... I hated Witches to no end.. Maybe I didn't hunt them all .. but I hated them all... and after.. ONE afternoon with you- all the things I thought were 'fact' about Witches and Casters of any kind have been completely through out the window by ... You! One incredibly impossible girl! So.. if they fear you, let them fear you! You don't need to change, they do! " Bane continued, taking her hand and looking into her eyes - meaning ever word he said.

"Now... I need you to be strong here... I'm going to have to pull this out of your leg so we can move you..." He would say as he began to touch her leg with his other hand. " Do you know any songs? " He asked, not looking away from her face just yet. " Think you could sing me something? " he was clearly trying to distract her - but he didn't have time to be clever in distracting her, he knew this was going to hurt a lot, but the less she thought about the pain the better.

Jacqueline sobbed silently as Marcus lifted her chin to look her in the eyes.

"All you are. Is you!" He shouted over the storm. "and if they are afriad of you, let them be! You are so much better then they ever could be-and you will only become much more!"
He shouted,as she watched his eyes.

"Jacqueline...I hated Witches to no end. Maybe I don't hunt them all...but I hated them all...and after ONE afternoon with you- all the things I thought were 'fact' about Witches and Casters of any kind have been thrown out the window by....You! One incredibly impossible girl! So, if they fear you. let them fear you! You don't need to change, they do!"
He told her and Jacqueline took a ragged deep breath as his hand found hers. Her shakey fingers wrapped around his as his eyes bore into hers.

"Now...I need you to be strong here...I'm going to have to pull this out of your leg so we can move you." He said as his hand moved to her upper thigh where the wood had broken through. Jacqueline whimpered as his hand moved, biting her lip. "Do you know any songs?" He asked, keeping his eyes on hers, she made sure to do the same. "Think you could sing me something?"

She knew what this was but she knew it would probably help. He was going to pull it, she needed to be distracted.

She nodded slowly at first, trying to keep her eyes from falling to her leg. "Okay.." She said, shivering.

"Um...uh.." Her mind had gone blank, she couldn't think of anything, not a single melody entered her mind.

Her eyes traveled toward the vast forest behind them, it used to fill her with wonder as a child. She used to pretend that she was a Fairy Queen and that was her land. Her mother had thought up a song on days like this, where the storm flooded the bayou, making it virtually a swamp and her 'Fairyland' was washed away.

"Over in the hills...there grows a flower, growing quicker still more perfect by the hour, Growing the flower, sits a tiny chair, all a fringed with gold the fairy queen sits there..." Jacqueline's voice was soft and haunting. she let her mind drift as she sat the first verse, to a time where it was her and her mother, playing in the sun, a time where she wasn't a witch, she was just a daughter...just a child and the world was a wonderous place.

"Over in the hills...There grows a flower,"
"Growing quicker still more perfect by the hour,"

Jacqueline began softly, as Bane would slowly let go of her hand. Placing both of his hands on her leg slowly he looked it over- making sure he knew what direction he would have to move her. The storm yet raging on.

"Growing the flower,"
"Sits a tiny chair,"

His breathing falling in line with hers, time would seem to slow from Banes point of view as he took grip around the root.

"All a fringed with gold the Fairy Queen sits there."

With a sudden jerk, Bane ripped the root clean from Jacqueline's leg, leaving it with a rather large hole, but now 'root' free. Quickly pulling the soaking jacket off his back, he would do his best to wrap it around her leg, tying it tight to try and reduce any blood lose. Bane would then take her up in his arms.

"It's going to be okay.. " He says as he turned back towards the house - only to be stopped dead in his tracks. The mud soaked man, that Bane had nearly suffocated just a minute ago, stood with the discarded gun in his hand, pointing it towards the two of them. Bane went wide eyed - He knew how to fight with his hands full, but not while carrying an injured person, and defiantly not against a man standing 30 feet away holding a gun.

Jacqueline gasped as Marcus pulled the root from her leg. The pain was mind numbing so her grip found the mud on the ground, and she clenched her fists tighter, as he wrapped her bleeding thigh with his jacket.

"It's going to be okay." He told her as he lifted her into his arms, bridal style.

He made her way toward the house but stopped when the unmistakable sound of the hammer of a gun could be heard just ahead of them.

Jacqueline's breathing picked up.

She couldn't. She shouldn't...

Her brown eyes flashed gold, and her mouth opened outside of her own volition.
"O' Retam Aunl. Tectrop mih. Ekam mih og yawa..." Her voice was an eerie whisper barely audible over the rain.

She couldn't let Marcus get hurt. She couldn't let anything happen to him. She couldn't lose him....

With that, Lighting crashed, attrached by the gun, his body jerking and lighting up the darkness.

Jacqueline turned away as the man was reduced to ashes before them, and begin washed away by the rain.

Jacqueline felt nauseous...She used Magic to kill...

"I kill...I...Marcus I didn't mean to...I just wanted him to stay away..." She whimpered before crying into his chest, her shaking beginning again.

"I'm so sorry...."

Bane was frozen, unable to make a decision on how to act - He couldn't think of a possible way out of this without risking her life, and that's something he just couldn't possibly do. His heart began to race- he had to act... he had to do something!... SOMETHING!

Suddenly Jacqueline would begin to mutter out something - not sure what she was doing for sure, but he had a feeling it was some form of magic. His suspicions were confirmed as the incredibly large bolt of lightning came down and struck the gun and flowed into the man. His body convulsing and twitching as it glowed as radiant as the noon day sun - forcing Bane to shut his eyes, turning away.

As his eyes opened, Bane could do nothing but stare at the ashy remains of the man as they quickly began to wash away in the rain. Bane simply stood there, holding Jacqueline in his arms... as the rain pouring down upon them.

"I kill...I...Marcus I didn't mean to...I just wanted him to stay away..." She whimpered before crying into his chest, her shaking beginning again. "I'm so sorry...." Again, Marcus says nothing - not even really breathing as his thoughts began to fire off in his head, almost like he was arguing with himself. Her actions just there were basically everything he fought against... but she had saved him... and had she not done that, they both would have been dead.

"Ssshh... It's okay.." He finally says, starting to walk towards the darkened house again. He had made his decision, he was sticking by her till the end of this - Through the thick and thin. Rushing into the House, he placed her on the kitchen table - knocking off everything that had been sitting on it in the process.

"Light!" He said, as soon as he placed her down. "Some Light! A flashlight! Candles! A Lantern- I need something if I'm gonna be able to do anything about your leg! - " He yells as he would start searching her cabnits - the mud flinging from his hands and feet as he darted about the room. He knew if he didn't do something... she could bleed out before an ambulance would arrive, if an ambulance could even make it out here in this weather.

"Do you have a First AID kit? Gaze, some Duct-tape? Anything!?" He said, becoming frustrated as he was unable to navigate her house.

Jacqueline looked up at him, seeming like an enternity.

"Say something." She thought to herself. She was scared, scared he would hate her, judge her, think her less then human for killing that man.

"Scream, yell, shout....say something." She begged in her head.

"Shhh, It's okay." he said and started for the house. Jacqueline watched his face slightly illuminated by the light of the moon, giving his profile a blue hue.

She wanted to know what was going on in his mind, what did he think of her now.

"Lights!" he said, sitting her down. Jacqueline propped her leg up on the coffee table. "Some Light! A flashlight! Candles! A Lantern- I need something if I'm going be able to do anything about your leg!-he yelled. Jacqueline realized, he was panic. They were trapped here, and after her display of magic, it was probably the last place he wanted to be.

"Do you have a First AID kit? Gauze, some Duct-tape? Anything!?"

Jacqueline took a breath, regaining her some of her composure.

"Dz'ere are candles underneadz' dz'e Kitchen Sink. I 'ave a first aid kit in dz'e linen closet at dz'e top of dz'e stairs." She said calmly, and as soon as he would go to collect the items, and sat back against the couch, her eyes slowly lidding as if they were suddenly weighted.

She knew she needed to stay awake but it was getting colder suddenly.

Her blinks became slower, and behind her eyes, she saw his face.
Marcus looked at her with a soft smirk, but beside him, overlapping him like a Venn Diagram was a ghostly figure.

"Ghede..." She said softly, and her eyes sprang open and she scanned for Marcus.

She had an idea...it was a long shot but it could work, she hoped it would, she might not last the night.
