Hufflepuff Head Girl || Pure blood || 7th Year || Dialogue Color Code: Color=Crimson "I had some summer assignments I wanted to go over.... again.""Again?" She asked at first in a confused tone, seeing as she never had to revise her own work, but smiled a bit sheepishly as she realized what he meant. She wasn't used to struggling academically, so at times she would sometimes completely forget the fact that others often did,
"Oops.. I see what you mean. It's not all bad. You're just more like Ayria. She's good at Quidditch and struggles with her homework no matter how hard she tries to study." She attempted, hoping to mend her accidental and somewhat elitist assumption.
"I can't play Quidditch, so you've got one thing over my head." She added with a reassuring smile. She suddenly felt nervous, and found herself making a fool of herself at the moment. Why was her heart skipping a beat as she accepted the textbook?
"I've got it this year Myrra, figured it out, how Gryffindor can win! Ravenclaw can come in second."The hand on her knee made her fingers holding the potions book feel brittle and spaghetti-like, but she tightened her fingers under the spine so she wouldn't drop it.
He has a girlfriend, you're just friends. Cool it. Think of something else.. Professor Blackwood is hot, yeah, think about Professor Blackwood. Don't think about Kai or his hand, or that adorable smile.. this definitely wasn't working very well, and she was definitely not good at changing her thoughts.
She crinkled her nose after she calmed down, removing his hand with a disbelieving expression,
"You know, if you're going to try and play both sides, you could at least pretend to mean it. Your grin tells one story and your hand says another. You're not sorry, you're looking forward to stomping us in the dirt." She retorted, frowning a bit though she was using every ounce of her self control to hold back a laugh. Despite her best efforts, it wasn't long before a laugh escaped her lips. She was definitely a team spirit when it came to Quidditch, but it wasn't worth arguing with a friend over. She wasn't even mad at him, she couldn't be, for some reason even when she wanted to be, her mind wouldn't let her stay mad at Kai.
"Potions, again.... We were to learn the differences between the different ingredients we'd use this year as well as what they do in the potion. That piece of parchment is my essay. Worked hours on it, and my mother thought it sounded like rubbish, but she has no clue what any of it meant, so that makes sense.""Potions? Most of what you need is already written down, you just have to know where to look." and immediately Myrra whipped out her 9 1/2 rosewood wand with a veela core. Once she found a spot that had the information she needed, she whispered an incantation and the tip of her wand began to glow a bright iridescent shade of blue. She did this over and over until all the needed areas were lit up in sparkly light blue. Myrra returned the book to him, without the parchment so she could look it over. She began reading the essay, waving her wand over certain words to correct their spelling, but overall she only found one worthy error.
"Kai, wormwood is an ingredient to Draught of Living Death, not monkshood, I think you got them confused. Monkshood is just wolfsbane, also known as aconite by some. Wormwood and ____ are two ingredients that are used to make Draught of the Living Death, a very powerful sleeping potion." She might as well explain it, seeing as it would be coming up in the future at some point. It was useful information, perhaps he could use it on McKenna or any of his future girlfriends if he ever gets too annoyed with them?
Myrra shook off the thought, giggling a bit to herself,
"Well you can let your mother know that for the most part, you did it right." She responded, handing him the parchment back to Kai, letting it land on his face. She knew she was being a little too friendly, but something about hanging out with Kai blurred the lines between responsible and having fun.
"Change monkshood into wormwood and your paper should at least get a B, if not a B+.. You did really well on it." She smiled, biting the inside of her cheek. Now that the homework was over, she felt a bit awkward being alone in a cart with Kai. She began instantly wondering how McKenna would feel. Her heart was beating a bit faster than normal, and she couldn't make direct eye contact without feeling uncomfortable.
"We will triumph over all and we shall allow Ravenclaw the glory of a close second. It shall be the best game of the century."She didn't catch everything he said, but she got the main idea and he didn't have to know that she lost half of the conversation to a mental freak out,
"Isn't that a bit of an overstatement? We don't have professional teams.." She replied, shaking her head at Kai. Myrra leaned back into the seat, staring out the window for a bit. The scenery made this a little less awkward, but somehow, Kai was just as relaxed as ever.
"How was your summer though? Did you get through all the books you had wanted to?""We went swimming, and thankfully everyone attended. Oh, and I am on my last one to be honest. I would have gotten way past my goal if Ayria had been home. I had to do her chores and mine. Magic or no magic, it is very time consuming.. How was your summer? It had to be better than mine." Then the compartment door opened and all of her worries came to fruition. There stood McKenna, and immediately Myrra felt guilty, because she should have left a long time ago.
"Hi, Kai."Here comes trouble... Myrra thought to herself, sitting up straighter. She didn't know why McKenna seemed to hate her, seeing as she only helped Kai with homework. She did everything in her mind to keep herself from thinking of Kai in 'that' way, and nothing had ever happened between the two of them that could be even remotely considered risque.
"Myrra.""Hello, McKenna." Myrra replied in the kindest voice she could muster, considering she knew that the other girl absolutely hated the air that she breathed, and would
love to gouge out her eyes right about now. Though she couldn't exactly blame McKenna, even though she didn't witness Kai's hand on her leg earlier, being alone together in this compartment wasn't necessarily a smart or respectful idea.
"So, you haven't been looking for me, I see."She could feel McKenna's judging glance, and blew a long strand of hair out of her face. This was not how she wanted to start her school year. McKenna wasn't happy, and if Myrra knew as much about her as she thought, this was not the last that Kai would hear of this little incident. She didn't mean to get Kai in trouble, in fact, she was just trying to help him with his homework. Though, she was certain that McKenna would never believe her even if she tried to tell the truth.
"I guess I shall see you around since things seem to be more interesting in here than where my compartment is." Myrra fell silent, biting her lip after McKenna left. Now things were really, really awkward. She wanted to keep talking to Kai, but she knew the best thing would be to let him go and soothe his fuming girlfriend. So, she took the high road and gave him some good advice,
"Hey, you should probably go after her. No girl would like this situation." She stated, standing up and reaching forward and grabbing Kai by the wrist, trying to pull him up and out of his seat. She didn't want to complicate Kai's relationship. He had been with McKenna for a long time, and she couldn't be a wedge in the middle of it. She had to get him up and out the door to fix things with her,
"Come on Kai, up. You've gotta go swoop in and make everything all butterflies and sparkles again." She laughed, still trying to get him to his feet, but Myrra was a
very physically weak person. It was pretty obvious that she had little to no upper body strength, because she was barely budging him at all.
Finally she let go, collapsing back in her seat with an annoyed huff, obviously irritated by her lack of physical ability,
"I should have been more respectful and mindful of the boy-girl situation. I'll apologize to her later. I'm sorry that I got you in trouble, Kai." She replied with an apologetic look on her face, but still determined to make him go after her. It wouldn't get better unless the problem going on between McKenna and Kai was fixed, and Myrra hated to put more strain on them.
