"Hark, evildoer! Witch! Knave!"

0 · 1,509 views · located in The Wonderland Institute in New York

a character in “The Wonderland Institute v2”, originally authored by ColeMaibara, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Full Name: Alonso Quixano

Alias/Nickname: Don Quixote

Place of Birth: Las Mesas, La Mancha

DOB: 5th August 1965

Age: 52 (or so)

Family: Unnamed niece who lives in his house.

Occupation: Novelist Great Hero of La Mancha

Blood-Type: A+ Heroic

Criminal History: Aggravated assault on an officer of the law, numerous accounts of petty theft, numerous accounts of assault with a deadly weapon, and numerous accounts of indecent exposure. All accounts written are false as decreed by Don Quixote.

Mental Diagnostic: Mentally unstable. Delusional. Will attempt assault with a deadly weapon is persuaded to do so. Heroism requires your mind to be sharp. No mental instability allowed!

Supernatural Powers: Inexplicable luck: Don Quixote has been beaten time and time again by the 'villains' he challenges, partially due to to his old age and lack of any experience in combat. Despite this, he manages to survive within an inch of his life and ready to continue adventuring after said beatings. In addition to this, he has some supernatural force preventing him from disobeying his chivalrous code. His body also has extreme resistances to toxins and chemicals.

Triggers: Everything and anything can be a trigger for his delusional behavior as he makes excuses for a fork being a mighty sword, and how the doctors are ogres trying to poison him with 'the stupid' to make him unable to perform his duty.

Ideal Environment and Stimuli For Them: Playing into his delusions can help if they're worded and acted right. Simply telling him something is an enchantment from an evil wizard, or someone is their friend because a great king of another country said so could be enough to persuade him. On the other hand, if he's convinced of someone being a liar he will lash out violently.

Personality: Good for nothing 'noble' knight. Don Quixote believes himself to be a great hero inspired by the knights of old to participate in ridding the world of evil. Because of this, he has a very high view of not only himself but his chivalrous code and the exploits they lead him through. He holds those he sees as friends, allies, and 'those in distress' in high regard and wishes to help them no matter the cost. Despite this heroic attitude he often finds himself staring down the barrel of a gun.

History: Little is known about Alonso Quixano aside from his name and apparent occupation as a novelist HERO, however the exploits of Don Quixote are varied and include many details about him as a man, and thus are to be used for the sake of Alonso Quixano's history. Born in La Mancha, Spain he was according to him "just a simple noble man helping out peasants and fellow high ranking officials alike" before he moved out of from Spain. In his time away from Spain he says he's read the stories of many similar heroes such as "Superman" and "King Arthur"[1].

Afterwards he traveled around with a companion he had met, a younger and more street-savvy bumpkin named "Sancho Panza". Sancho was being taken in as Quixote's squire so he says, and as quoted from him "He may not have been the brightest or most noble of individuals sometimes, but he had the heart of a lion and the bravery to boot." Sancho had previously been involved in gang activity, and it was big step up in the world to be working with the then-rich Don Quixote. Often the two squabbled with punks from the gangs leading to gunfights and brawls, usually ending with Sancho receiving a minor beating or Quixote narrowly avoiding death through some inexplicable reason[3]. Don Quixote has allegedly, according to him, slain many "evildoers" on his journeys alongside Sancho but whether or not he was attacking inanimate objects believing them to be people or if he had actually killed gang members is unknown.

Before arriving at the asylum, Quixote had lost Sancho in one of the gang fights that sparked "out of nowhere" he claims, yet research indicates he may have been flirting with one of the men's girlfriends which initially started the fight. It is unknown whether or not the gang members involved in the fight were killed or if Quixote escaped by the skin of his teeth again, yet it is known that when he lost Sancho he completely snapped and found himself on a new - vengeful quest. Ridding the world of all "black knights" which "seek to blot out the sky with their horses with ashen fur and eyes of flame".

([1]: It is possible he believes both of them to be real. [2]: His Knight-errant fantasy is strangely mixed with comic books he must have read in his youth prior, splicing together the 'heroic deeds' of super heroes while still wishing to be your everyday ordinary knight. [3]: It is thought that he may have skills which prevent him from dying such as advanced medical knowledge however this hasn't been proven or tested.)

Relationship to Other Inmates: Don Quixote thinks he's in it good with everyone except the doctors. He thus believes he is the hero that is meant to free the inmates from the 'slave drivers' which seek to inject them with the stupid toxins, which he believes he's been making himself resistant to by taking more doses than usual.

Progress: Not going anywhere any time soon All in good health.

So begins...

A dreary and downright depressing institute. Normally people would be upset because they were in a mental institution. But Don Quixote? He saw this as something different...perhaps it was seen as a challenge, or maybe it was just another part of his grand epic around the world. It was taking a detour in New York, but that's okay. New York was exactly where he wanted to be right now, for he sought out the Duke of Wall Street for his immense wealth and influence so that he may direct the knight-errant on a quest worthy of his greatness. But for now...he had this to deal with.

Filthy slavers toiled away on their notepads, scribbling down useless information. Surely sizing them up to sell each and every one of the poor subjects here to rich men with no honor or class. They lacked everything that made a noble man what he was. And that was a sense of justice. Right and wrong. They were no better than these slavers who he knew surely didn't want this job, some of them. They looked legitimately concerned sometimes for his well-being and the well-being of others. Maybe they knew their sins and yet must carry on to feed their family, or not doing this would lead to them being executed or worse...those who worked here were also slaves to some potentially greater machination that sought to bring men, woman, and children into the servitude of those they think should be above them. Pah! Hogwash, all of it.

Don Quixote sat upon his bed with a tray of food on his lap, a fork in hand as he picked away at the peasant food laid before him. He was perturbed, but he understood he must suffer through this if he is to reach his endpoint. The crescendo of this story, as he might put it. Taking a strained bite of the corn on his platter, he chewed it with a bit of disgust at first...then slowly grew to a more accepting grimace, and not too long after he was shoveling more into his mouth. Peasants have some interesting flavors they must enjoy if this was the case. Perhaps it's why so many peasants here in New York were a tad on the heavy side. For one, they didn't go astride a trusty steed and instead opted for a car or motorcycle. But what's more, they ate the food of nobles daily! Surely eating the food of nobles so freely like this had some sort of ill effect on those not cultured for its mystical properties.

Looking up with a bit of corn stuck within his facial hair, he could always hear the sounds of other subjects crying out for help. Some have gone so far as to write out help signs in their own fecal matter and blood. Absolutely heart wrenching...these poor people needn't fondle their feces for help. For he was here to be of assistance to them. Hearing crying and moaning all about, he shouted from within his room. "Do not fear, my friends! You will see the shimmering light of day and the gentle caress of night soon enough! Do not fret, do not fondle thine feces, for you must be strong and ever vigilant!" Shoveling a mouthful of corn once more, he continued with his 'rousing speech' between chewing. "Be sure to eat right and stay healthy! Exercise continuously! Punch the nearest person to you in the gob as practice. They'll understand so long as you tell them beforehand it's for a noble cause!" Swallow. "And remember! The slavers wish to enchant you with the stupid! Resist it at all costs. Take more than the normal dosage to make yourself resistant to its ill effects as I have! Try to fight while on the stupid! It'll give you good exercise for the real deal!"

He could imagine his audience in his flawed mind, buying everything he said hook, line, and sinker. Though, as he awaited a response a male from the next room over could be heard shouting. "Could you shut up, some of us are trying to sleep here!"

Don Quixote fixed his 'noble' slaves garments and lifted his head in the air. "And so you are! Have a good rest my friend, and I hope you are ready to engage the forces of darkness in both your mind and in your real life environments." A true hero among men, surely. Though, it was normally around this hour some slavers tried to come in and knock him unconscious with poison.
But little did they know he had tricks up his sleeve. Tricks that'd benefit him in the long run, not get him into more trouble!

GM POST

It had been a chaotic and long day, not the longest, but still pretty exhausting. Once the damage had been measured by the staff it was realised Cell Security needed to be updated with The Wolves Pit practically being rebuilt after Aldric almost escape attempt. While this went on during next two weeks.

Alice received word of a Juvenile Behavior Therapist interested in the position. Being, Peter Banning was still an issue with Jack too being a problem it did seem rather like a good idea.

Unfortunately, the problems outweighed the good, Salem, one of the inmates committed suicide the week after.

Alice, though, was steadfast, despite these major complications. Many would have buckled under the intense pressure from this all, but after her last breakdown, she seemed to attempt to keep herself coordinated. Even odder was when someone mentioned Cheshire or regarding progress of that patient, a nostalgic smile traced over Alice's lip. Something weird was certainly happening, but without further investigation, there was no need to overreact.

In the past when Cheshire was mentioned, Alice's sadism seemed to emerge quite prominently and she got angry and demanded cruel and unusual punishments for Cheshire. Now though, seemed rather calm, some may say downright intrigued by the progress. Some Doctor's have noticed her giggling and commenting during the staff meeting, 'Oh yes, she is such a wicked thing." not a lie, but the way it was said, suggested something of less towards nature.

It has been two weeks since the incident, cells have rebuilt and refitted, Aldric out of his coma and it has been reasoned by Jekyll, Warmoon and even Alice that perhaps Aldric could get outdoor privileges. It is believed that this could resolve much of his cabin fever and also provide the freedom he needs while under supervision. Of course, with this, the Garden now had to be just as warded heavily with magic. But, that was not difficult to do.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the darkness down within the crypt was stirring, it felt the weakness growing within all. Oh, how the boy who cried, cried so hard for it to stop. But now his only sound was the swinging from the metaphorical Gallow's Pole. It must work slowly, and not rush, especially as many of these magic users, if they knew, could strengthen this prison, this cell so not even the maddening cruel voice could speak in their darkest thoughts. Oh yes, it would be patient and in time Wonderland would become the Kingdom of this new Earth with the twisted aberrations of subjects that made up inmates and staff.

Once it was free, only once it was free
