She raised her head as a scientist walked by before resting her head back on her hands. She was close to the experiment rooms, so scientists always walked by, but she was always careful it wasn't for her. She watched the scientist go to a girl that could turn invisable and cocked her head to the side a bit. She sniffed, trying to catch the girl's scent, the girl was still there. She watched the scientist put a needle in the arm of the girl it seemed and she rested her head back on the ground. How strange that someone could vanish like that. She looked up as a scientist knelt down before her cage. She backed away into a corner, but the scientist stuck her hand in her cage and seemed to pet her. She calmed down and laid back down, but kept a close eye on the scientist.
He opened his eyes. How much time had gone past? He never knew. He did manage to keep track of the days and knew this was his birthday. Happy sweet sixteenth, he thought as he stood up, his arm hurting. He rubbed it and found the syringe in his other hand. Alright, so now I have a weapon, he thought, what to do, what to do. Today, the ultimate birthday present would be to leave this hell hole of a place behind him once and for all. And he was going to do it. The syringe gave him hope for now. He closed his fingers around it and began to come up with a plan...
She woke up a while later, the world returned to normal. -I wonder if it worked. I should get the boss.- "What did you say?" Alex asked. -she's mental.- "Nothing Subject 3, I didn't say anything," the scientist said. "No, before that. you said 'I wonder if it worked. I should get the boss'," Alex replied. The scientist's eyes widen. She ran over to a phone and picked up the receiver. Alex didn't hear what the scientist said but again, she heard something. -She's a breakthrough! A freak of nature! She is the first subject who can read minds.- Alex's eyes widened. "I can....I can read minds?" The scientist looked over to her and nodded her head. The scientists hung up the phone and walked over to her. The scientists took a needle and injected her with something. Her eyes closed, but somewhere inside her, she had hope.
She woke up to cold metal under her. The familiar bars of her cage pressed against her skin. She sighed and fell asleep.
Soon, she was lying on an experiment table. They had strapped down her arms and legs so she couldn't do anything. Scared for anything, she watched terrified as more needles were stuck into her, and more pain went through her. She saw one of them grab a big knife and her eyes widened. Scared she shook her head, but they just tried to stab her in her chest, and although it hurt like hell, the knife didn't went through the scales. She closed her eyes, almost screaming in pain, but managing to hold it in. She also held back her tears as best as she could. ''Interesting,'' one scientist said and she opened her eyes to watch the scientist jot down something. ''Make a cut in her skin. I want to know if her skin is that hard too,'' the scientist told the other scientist and a small cut was made beside her scales. That's when she did scream, and tears flowed free. ''How interesting,'' the scientist said and jotted some more down. Sari tired to move her hands and arms to try to get free but there was no movement. She tried again before giving up again. They than stuck another needle into her arm and injected her something, making her black out only minutes later.
Slowly, her eyes opened, and she saw more scientist. She looked at her hands to find her knuckles, and top of her fingers and hands covered in scales. She let out a low growl, causing herself to get more pain. She closed her eyes again, blacking out from the pain.
She opened her eyes only to find herself back in her cage. She sighed and curled up.
He closed his eyes and tried not to scream. Flashbacks entered his mind in a distorted vision. Everything was changing colors from blue, to red, to brown, to purple and so on. It was like a rainbow in his head. Voices entered his head from a long time ago. "No, no, no, no, no!" his mother's voice entered his mind, followed by crying. "Look at that freak!" another voice, this one unfamiliar to him, came next. Finally a fuzzy voice entered his head. "Complete failure...take him back..." There was a slam and he was out once again.
He came to in his cage. He got up, feeling groggy. He looked around at the familiar sights. Cat Woman was curling up. Cat Woman was Crimson's pet name for her. He always gave pet names to everyone, like that one scientist gave to him. It made things a little brighter in this pale gray world he lived in. He was right by a clock, so he looked up at it. Only a few hours passed by this time around. He drew a breath, then reached in his pocket and felt the syringe...his only hope. He wanted to sleep a little longer but he knew he shouldn't. This was his only time to think and plan. He had to make the most of it. But an idea entered his head when he got up. The orange liquid was the distinct memory in his brain before he lost conciousness. Could he conjure liquid? He had to try. He groaned, unheard by anyone as the screams from the experiment rooms drowned it out, and concentrated. He thought of the liquid, orange, bright. He opened his eyes...and it was there, in a puddle, on the floor! New life flowed through him as he pulled out the syringe and sucked up whatever he could and wiped away any traces. He put away the syringe just as a scientist passed by. He froze until he was gone, then began breathing again. He couldn't be caught, not now. He just figured out how to escape, but he needed a lot of concentration to do so. He was going to escape...tonight...
She rested her eyes on the cage of the boy again, curiously watching him.
He grabbed two more syringes and rushed into another room. Outside...he could see the ground outside. It was the first time in almost a year that he could see what was out there...it marked freedom. Two security guards were standing there and reacted instantly when he entered. They grabbed their tranquilizer guns and fired. He reacted, running behind an empty desk, dodging the darts. He peeked over. They were reloading. He took the chance and ran toward them, pushing the needles with the substance into both of their chests. They didn't see it coming. They crumpled to the ground, experiencing the same fate as the scientists did. By now, there were shouts as the scientists and the absence of himself were discovered. He knew it wouldn't take long. Without another glance back, he rushed out the door, running at top speed. He was in a desert. He was found in a forest. Where the hell am I? he thought. He dismissed the question and focused on running, faster and faster. He needed to get to a police station. He needed to lead them to this terrible place. He needed to save the others. Cat Woman and Goner. He saw the setting sun and ran over a sand dune, the terrible place out of his sight. He peeked over. Scientists were beginning to run outside, looking for him. They weren't going to find him. He turned around and continued to run, not caring which direction so long as it wasn't towards the hell hole.

He sat down next to the flame. He didn't expect to have to start a fire, but the desert was surprisingly cold at night. He blew a breath and rubbed his hands together. He closed his eyes and imagined a quaker granola bar inside a wrapper. It appeared in front of him. He opened the packaging to find that it was empty. He'd only imagined the wrapper, not the granola bar itself. Gah, he hated it when this happened. He tried again, actually imagining the granola bar and there it was. He began to eat. "Chocolate chip," he mumbled to himself and continued eating. They never served enough food for any of the subjects, so he imagined food a lot. In fact, it was how he discovered his power. He imagined to have at least one glass of water in front of him and it appeared. So it wasn't like these tests were completely useless.
Now how was he going to explain his hair and eyes when he got back? He wondered for a bit and settled on color contacts and permanent hair dye. He laughed. He wasn't out of the fire yet. He was one step closer, but not to where he would be making up how he explained his appearance to other people. He put out the fire, glad to be a little warm again, and began walking. He'd ran a few miles just to get away, but being in a cage for the past year didn't help you do so. He couldn't find the strength to run anymore, so he resorted to walking for now. He'd just have to pray he didn't get caught...

But she was unable to escape from the metal cage. "I'll save you once I get out of here Blake, I promised". Wack! went one of the guards sticks hitting Huntress. "Oh shut-up you creature!". Huntress recovered and stood up. When the guard wasn't looking she slipped the keys off his belt and his stick. " I'm not creature". She unlocked her cage and knocked him out. She saw Sari and ran to a dark corner. She was trying to get Sari to read her lips, but what she was saying was too hard to understand.

Someone's thoughts pressed into her mind. She looked over at the mutant in the special cage. The Rock, as she called him. His mind almost called out to her. The Rock said something to the animal thing. Even though it wasn't directed toward her, she could read it loud and clear. Maybe she could communicate back. SHe focused on the mind, and pushed into his. It was like, well, pushing on a hard rock. She pushed and suddenly it gave way, she thought to him -Can you hear me? I heard what you said to the animal thing.- Than she exited his mind and tried to test it out on scientists. They were much easier to break through. But she wan't to try something different. she grabbed hold of his thoughts and inserted her own. -you want to walk to that cage.- The scientist sort of narrowed his eyes and shook his head. she pushed harder, and urged him forward. -You will walk to that cage.- The scientists didn't hesitate and walked to the cage beside her. -now you will open the cage.- In a daze, the scientist opened the cage. -now you will climb into the cage.- The scientist climbed in. -now you will close the door.- The scientist pulled the door closed and it locked with a click. She almost laughed, and let go of his mind. The scientist looked around and widened his eyes. he tried to open the cage door, but it was locked tight. -Why in the blazes am i in her- She laughed at his thoughts, and pealed with laughter as he started yelling for help. She grinned and lay back in her cage.
I will escape. I will finally escape.
First, he imagined a wooden bowl, opening his eyes to see it in front of him. An easy task, but now came the hard one. He closed his eyes and imagined a bow and arrow. He knew better than to imagine a gun, it wouldn't work anyway. He only had one in memory...his dad's long bow. It was mahogany wood polished to perfection. It was hand-crafted by his dad and it was his dad's prize possession. That should be enough, he thought as he opened his eyes and nearly screamed with delight as it was there. Now, another tough step...his dad's arrows. 30 deadly steel-tipped arrows with a solid oak shaft and decorative feathers. And there they were. Next, he imagined a quiver, another easy one, and it appeared, attached to a leather strap to carry it. He was smiling, more exhausted than ever, but smiling. He'd been taught to hunt before with a bow and arrow and already knew he was a decent shot. He grabbed an arrow, felt the bow in his grasp as well, nocked, drew back and fired at a cactus. It hit the trunk...not in the center, but still a very good shot. He retrieved the arrow and now was grabbing the syringes and letting the liquid out of them, watching the orange substance enter the bowl. Now, he grabbed each arrow and dipped the tips into the substance. He layed them out on the sand and grew relieved that they were drying quickly. Every second was an advantage and he knew he couldn't stay here long. Once thirty arrows were coated in the now dried orange substance, he put them into the quiver, confident that even a single scratch by the arrow on skin would cause the substance to activate, like it did with the scientists and guards. He put the quiver over his back. He still had half of the orange substance left in the bowl...and he knew what to do with it. He imagined an empty canteen and it appeared. He poured the rest of the liquid inside and put the cap on. Now he had a weapon. He could cry from happiness...but for now, he would continue to escape. He got up and continued walking...

She sneaked past the scientists running toward The Rock and the animal thing. She creeped down the hallway to find two guards by the door. There was no way to get past them, without alerting them. She tried to enter one of their minds, but it was very hard. When she finally got in she couldn't persuade him to move away from the door. The guard just grunted and shifted his feet. Maybe she could only control week minds. She will have to work on that, but for now she needed a way out. She remember the syringe in her hand and quietly thanked Crimson for giving her one. She stabbed the first guard and injected some of the liquid, and while the other guard held up his tranquilizer dart gun in confusion. She watched the guard writhe on the floor in pain. Yes. That is how it feels you scumbag. She injecting the rest of the liquid into the other guard. She stepped over the bodies in pain and ran out the door.
THe sunlight hit her and she squinted into it. Already guards were running out and she ran too. She ran and her feet hit rock and sand. She kept running even though she was exhausted. She continued running and didn't stop to rest. She needed to get as far away from that piece of crap as she could. She finally had to stop from exhaustion. She soon realized she had no food, no water, and no fire. Suddenly a faint voice touched her mind. She ran forward, panting. the thoughts became louder, and as she walked out from behind a large boulder, the thoughts were clear as crystal. She turned back to normal and stepped forward.
"Crimson."
There was one scientist in a cage and three mutants were out of their cages. He recogized two instantly...Sari and Enkidu. He was surprised that Enkidu was out. Endiku was a mellow character, the only mutant that hasn't put up a fight with the scientists. It appears he made a friend, Sari. Sari had been here from the moment he arrived. She and Enkidu were the least problemsome subjects. I guess people change...The third one was a mystery to him...probably brand new, he thought.
"There's been a breach!" he spoke in his com,"All scientists report to the containment room immediately. He pulled out his tranquilizer dart and shot the three, knowing that each dart would cause them to sleep. It was charged with a high sleep medicine so the effects would be instant. Even Enkidu would be affected, despite his crystal form. At that time, the scientists arrived. "Clean those bodies up and put them back in their cages. Put Enkidu in the solitary confinement cage. It's the only safe place left." The scientists went to work. The solitary confinement cage was at the very end, it's own room of it's own. It was made of metal and had no openings of any kind. It was the only place for him until they fixed his cage.
He went over to the scientist in the cage, opening it up. He was careful about Alex, since she could be invisible and sneak out. He grabbed the scientist and yanked him out, locking the cage behind him. "What happened," he asked. The scientist began stammering,"W-well...I-I guess that...well you see it's just the funniest thing...I-I...Subject three may be...she's gone...escaped." He slapped the scientist, then tossed him to the ground. I'll have to tell Theresa to look for TWO escaped mutants, he thought. Crimson, another blank face he didn't really know, was the first. Maybe Theresa had her hands full, he thought. He decided to meet up with her and go hunting with her as well. He grabbed his tranquilizer sniper and left the building, looking for Theresa.
"It's over now."
"Let's get hunting."

As usual, she hated the thought of going into work. Perhaps she was getting too old for this. Right now, all she wanted was to throw herself down on the couch, open a beer, and watch daytime talk shows until she fell asleep. Then again, the whole reason she'd taken this job was because she was bored of doing just that. And she needed the money. Of course, she hadn't known then that this "lab" was actually a house of horrors, where someone's idea of a science project was turning children into monsters. But a job was a job. And she still hadn't heard from her friend in Nigeria. She was begining to wonder if the Army of Christ had been crushed before they could begin thier crusade against the heathen Muslim terrorists. She'd so much rather be living under a tarp in the jungle than having to go to a place where creatures that were once American teenagers were stuffed into cages that made pet carriers look like palaces.
A knock on the door startled her. Theresa lost her grip on the doorframe, and landed with a thump on the floor. Her first thought was that Carlos "El Pato"'s men had finally caught up to her. She thought that was over with, after the Mexican Marines swarmed the little cantina where Theresa was holed up against Carlos' men. Apparently not. With instincts bred from 15 years of fighting, Theresa dropped to the floor, scurried along on her hands and knees to the door of her apartment, then slid up against the wall. She reached for the shotgun she kept hidden over the door, pumped a pair of shells into both barrels, and threw open the door, ready to give Carlos' hired goons a face full of rock salt.
Yuri screamed like a little girl, and threw his arms in front of his face to protect himself. He was dressed in his full military uniform.
"Yuri!" Theresa exclaimed, lowering her gun. "What are you doing here? And dressed like that? What are you trying to do: get the cops called? People will think you're some sort of neo-Nazi terrorist."
"My apologies, Ms. Martinez," the former Russian Speznatz commando sputtered in accented English. "But there's a call from the lab. It's the test subjects - they're - escaping..." The emotion in his voice wasn't so much from Theresa's surprise. Theresa felt her heart sink into her stomach. This was the moment she dreaded - unable to take the horrors anymore the monsters in the lab had finally snapped. Most were probably just scared, and would instinctively scurry off into some dark hole to hide for fear of how others might react to their horrible transformations. But some - some might have had thier humanity forced out as more and more drugs were forced in. Some might blame humanity for betraying them to the scientists. Some might turn their mutations against the humans who gave them these "powers". Some might decide they no longer owed anything to humanity, and that all humanity must suffer for the sins of a perverted few.
They're no longer children, thought Theresa, ejecting the shotgun shells and returning the weapon to its hiding place. They're no different than escaped lab rats. Most just need to be rounded up and taken back home for thier own safety. Some need to be put down. Of course, these justifications did little to calm her. On the contrary, they only made her dread her job even more. But when she thought of how many people would be at risk if one of the more violent mutants got out...
"Come inside, Yuri, before people start thinking the Russians have invaded," she ordered, then shut the door on her fellow mercenary. "How many little critters got out?"
"I don't know."
"Any scientists dead?"
"I don't know. Maybe a few, God willing, but I don't know."
"Okay, just let me get dressed. I'll be out in a bit."
Theresa retreated to her bedroom. Her shirt was where she'd thrown it the night before. She pulled it on, then her vest and the rest of the ballistic armor, and finally her helmet. She grabbed her pack, filled her hydration pouch with water from the bathroom faucet, then retrieved her weapons from the closet. She'd pick up ammunition later, at her locker at the lab. She grabbed her ID badge and her phone, and rejoined Yuri, who was nervously slapping his palm with a cigarette pack.
"Okay. Let's go." The two scurried out of the apartment, down the second story steps to the dirt parking lot, where a green pickup truck was waiting, driven by some kid fresh out of the Marines and dressed in a motley assortment of hunting camouflage and military fatigues. Yuri got in the cab, and Theresa vaulted into the bed. She'd barely settled in, when the kid gunned the engine, and took off, driving well over the legal speed limit. The town was small enough, that they were out of it in minutes and streaking down the highway towards the turnoff to the lab. As they drove, Theresa called in to the lab.
"This is hunter lead Martinez, reporting. I'm with Meyers and Vladimirov. We're three miles from the turnoff. What's the situation?"

Jerome almost smiled when he saw Brenda. Now her and Theresa were his top hunters and he was exceptionally proud of them. Last week, when the first one escaped, they were on the call, ready to react. They wrangled him in within a couple of days. He was confident that these two wouldn't be much longer. "Let's go," he commanded and off they marched. Brenda and himself would lead the ground patrol, Theresa would scout ahead with her two troops in the buggy.
An incoming transmission entered his com. It was Theresa. "Yeah, we got a couple of escaped subjects. Subject 3 and Subject 17. Subject 3 has invisibility as well as mind reading and manipulation. Subject 17 can conjure any item out of thin air. Be warned about them. Me and Brenda are on ground troops, following behind. Locate them, but do not engage. Call us and we will arrive behind you, then take them out together. I repeat...do not engage." He turned off the com and turned to Brenda,"Let's wrangle a couple of mutants, shall we," he muttered and led the way behind Theresa.
Several minutes later it seemed, although she didn't have a good sense of time, she woke up again. She looked around, but Crystal Man was not in his cage, and she couldn't see him. She slowly sat up and looked around, then shivered slightly and sighed. -'Scared Outside. Inside pain. Don't know do.'- She laid down and curled up in her cage, making herself as small as possible as she could. She rested her head on her hands, but then held her head up and looked at the scales. Almost nothing could go through, they tries almost anything. She looked at the bars and pawed at it. Then sighed and rested her head back on her hands.
"Jesus Christ!" exclaimed Andrew, the ex-Marine driver. "Please tell me they mean one guy is a master escape artist and the other knows slight-of-hand tricks."
"Unfortunately, no." Yuri said. Andrew had only been working at the lab for a month, so he was blissfully unaware of the darker goings-on. As if experimenting on children wasn't enough.
Andrew's eyes widened. "Wait, what? I thought this was supposed to be a program to build a better soldier, not make comic-book superpowers real!"
"I wouldn't believe it either, but unless we see otherwise, we can assume Subject 3 has psychic powers and can literally turn invisible; and Subject 17 can create anything it wants to from thin air, like the Green Lantern," Theresa explained.
"Fuck!"
"Trust me kid, you have no idea what really goes on in there." Truth be told, Theresa didn't know either, and she probably wouldn't want to find out. "I heard there's this one guy - he used to be a guy, anyway, a teenage boy, I think - but there's this guy that I don't know what they did to him, but now I hear all his organic tissues have been replaced by some sort of crystalline matter. He's still alive, but he's not even human anymore. I don't even think he resembles anything close to a human except for 2 arms, 2 legs, and a head of sorts. He's more like solid, living rock."
"Ugh!" exclaimed Andrew as they pulled up to the guard shack, five miles up the turn-off, up the main road, on the edge of the lab's outer perimeter.
The guards were only prepared to deal with normal human threats from the outside: curiosity seekers, investigative journalists, religious extremists, determined parents... Not mutants trying to get out. Hell, they didn't even know what went on inside the lab. They probably thought it was all white rats and monkeys. The guards reported no disturbances on the outer fence, convincing Theresa the mutants were still in the perimeter. Even if Subject 3 could fool the motion sensors and trip wires, Subject 17 couldn't - no object it could conjure, short of a hot air balloon, could not set off the perimeter alarm.
Once they were through the gate, Theresa let Andrew drive a distance into the perimeter before ordering him to veer off the road and head off into the desert. When they reached a clump of trees growing at the bottom of a dry stream, she ordered Andrew to park the truck as close to them as possible.
"Okay, Andrew, Yuri, you two: go out and erase our tracks back to the road, and for about another hundred yards down towards the gate," Theresa ordered. "Cover your trail on the way back. I'll stay here and hide the truck. Remember: if you see our two lost sheep, radio Dr. Satan, trail them, and try to stay out of sight." Yuri smartly saluted Theresa, and Andrew nodded, then tightened the drawstrings on his Aussie cap. The two men then set off into the desert. Theresa waited until they were out of sight, then sprang into action. She dragged some dead branches up and over the truck to conceal it from the casual eye. Then she opened the hood, and removed the battery and replaced it with a rock. That should keep the mutants from using it as a getaway car. For good measure, she disconnected a few other electrical lines, just in case Subject 17 realized the trick and conjured a car battery. Then she crawled into some bushes nearby, and waited for Yuri and Andrew to return. She hoped Subject 3 wouldn't find her first. She alone knew what she'd done to the truck, and if Subject 3 read her mind, then "manipulated" her... Theresa tried to think of something else. Still, she felt uncomfortable, all by herself. Swallowing hard, she contacted Dr. Satan on the radio, this time.
"This is Martinez," she said. "I am in Zone 4, solo. Meyers and Vladimirov are backtracking. I'm going to need some company. I don't like the idea of being alone with an invisible mind reader on the loose."
"Calm down, soldier," he replied,"She is not a powerful mutant who is known to kill. She's just a girl. Her time in the containment room should have lowered her self-esteem. If she doesn't come crawling back, she should be easy to take. Just keep a strong mind and she won't get to you. The other one, on the other hand, is a little more fresh to the lab. He will be the more dangerous target. He's smart and creative and knows how to use his resources. But as long as you keep him running and tired, he won't be able to fight back. That's the advice I give to you. You know what to do. We'll be there in a little bit, don't lose your head, soldier." He turned off the com and kept walking towards Theresa's direction.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
Jerome stepped to the side, pushing Brenda to the other side as an arrow landed between the two with a thud! He turned and saw Subject 17 with a bow and arrow running to the side. "Action..." he put his sniper rifle into firing position. "Brenda, take your troops and surround him. I'll get Theresa." He pulled out his com and radioed Theresa. "Theresa, we've found Subject 17. Get your ass over here and help us!" Not waiting for a reply, he turned off the com and began to set up his sniper.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
Jerome saw the traveling footsteps of invisible Alex. "Gotcha..." he mumbled and fired. It missed. He reloaded and an arrow shaft appeared at his right. He turned and aimed at Crimson and fired. He watched as the dart hit Crimson's leg and Crimson crumpled to the ground. Now back to Alex, he again looked for the moving footprints...
Yeah, but no one is known to kill until they do kill, and it's not exactly that I'm worried about. Then came the command to come for assistance. Unfortunately, Dr. Satan hadn't specified a coordinates. Theresa radioed to Yuri and Andrew.
"Meyers, Vladimirov: Team 10 has made contact with Subject 17!"
"What's thier position?" asked Andrews.
"How should I know? I..." The loud pops of compressed air caught Theresa's attention. They were distinct from conventional gunshots, but carried just as good. "Just head for the noise. That's probably them." Breaking cover, Theresa scurried out across the desert, keeping low to the ground, and using the bushes for cover. The noise of the shooting got louder, then suddenly died away. Theresa kept running. Coming over a rise, she found the rest of the hunters - a motley mix of private contractors, mercenaries, former soldiers, bounty hunters, and "gun-nuts" clustered around Dr. Satan, who stood tall, like the Devil himself. At his feet, like a prize buck, lay a quite cute-looking teenage boy, clutching a bow and a quiver of arrows. A pretty little girl, not even 16 yet, lay nearby, a submachine gun at her side.
I must be getting old, thought Theresa. Either these mutants were easily taken down, or I'm not as spry as I was when I was 40. Theresa came to a stop, and rested her hands on her knees, while she panted and caught her breath. As the day was starting to get hot, she took sip from the straw of her hydration pouch.
"Well," she said. "That was easy enough."
Andrew and Yuri arrived at that moment, both panting and sweating. Theresa felt a slight swelling of pride. Both men were younger than her, and both men looked ready to drop dead. Yuri regarded the two mutants with what looked like disdain, and muttered something in Russian. Andrew whispered something that sounded like, "Jesus Christ, they're just kids." between breaths.
Theresa looked up at Dr. Satan, and felt her skin crawl. He looked more like a cross between a hunter who'd bagged his quarry and a mafia hitman than a scientist.
"Is that all of them?" she asked, glancing again at the two mutants.
((OOC, as i read over my post, it has come to my attention that I said crapped, instead of grabbed, mostly likely an auto correction. I imidiatly burst out laughing because it is hilariously placed in this context. :D forgive me.))

Two scientists talked outside the solitary confinement room. "We need to get the mind control out of her. If we do that she can be placed back into a normal cage." One scientist said. "How are we going to get her out though?" He replied. "Sedate them all and grab her before the affects wear off on Subject 27. His internal system quickly burns off the sedate.". "Fine, good thing we installed those user operated tranquilizer dart gun, mounted to the wall." The scientist called another one over and the two waited outside the door, while the other went into the control room.
Alex woke up and stretched. She was in a room with Crimson and the rock. He pressed her palms to her head. What have I done? Suddenly she heard a loud and unmistakable ziiiiit! behind her. She turned to see a tranquilizer dart in Crimson's neck. Another ziiiiit! and a tranquilizer dart appeared in the rock's heart, or whatever that rock thing might have. She heard one more ziiiiit! and she slumped to the ground. Two scientists dashed in as the world swam and hazed, and trapped her, dragging her out.
As the other hunters collected thier quarry and trekked back to the lab, Theresa turned and lead her two companions back to the truck. Along the way, she retrieved the battery and handed it to Andrew. "I had to disable the truck," she explained. "I didn't want to give our little friends a getaway car."
Once at the site, Theresa and Yuri removed the branches while Andrew repaired the electrical lines and reinstalled the battery. As he worked, Andrew muttered a few choice words about Theresa, Dr. Satan, the lab, and the mutants.
"Little fuckers. Ought to just be put out of thier misery. It's the only freedom they're ever gonna get."
Once the truck was prepared, Theresa got back in the bed, and boys got in the cab. With a roar of the engine, Andrew put the truck into drive, and sped the rest of the way to the lab. Once they parked, Theresa got out of the bed and headed into the locker room. For a moment, she savored the cool air conditioning. Then she headed towards her locker.
The first thing she did was put away her weapons, her pack, helmet, and her ballistic armor. Normally, she took off her uniform top too, but as she was wearing only her sports bra underneath, she kept her shirt on. She made sure to load a clip onto her rifle. She'd had no ammunition for it earlier, as it was all stored here, and her pistol was only equipped with hallow point bullets - good for killing people, but not bringing back mutants alive and in one piece. Then she slogged up the stairs to rendezvous with Dr. Satan.
Because she'd ridden in the back of a truck, she'd beaten the main body back to the lab. Theresa still had time to lean against the wall outside Dr. Satan's office, cross her arms under her enormous chest, and wait impatiently for him to arrive. She tried to look cool and composed, though in reality, she was rather disgusted and anxious about the whole episode.
A few moments later, he came to again. He found Goner gone and Rocky still there, still immobile. He once again slammed his fist on the door. Once again, the door didn't open. C'mon imagination, open the door, he thought.
Speaking of which, where's Theresa? Then he heard noises outside his room. He figured it had to be Theresa. "Come in, Theresa, I'm already in my office," he called out to her. He sighed as he waited for her to enter the room.
The familiar cold metal seeped into her body and she sat up. Why was she in a normal cage and not the solitary confinement room? They never learn. She spotted a scientist, and read his thoughts like always. She tried to enter and take control, but it was like trying to walk through a brick wall. Baffled, she attempted again, but on a different scientist. It was like his mind was sealed up tight. She tried on more scientists, but all with the same result. She slammed her hand against her cage in frustration, but then winced and pulled her hand back. It was like everyone's minds were a one way door. Thoughts could escape out, but she couldn't get in. She reached out and Allaire was in the cage beside her, followed by the animal thing. She reached out further and she could faintly hear Crimson's thoughts. Crimson. She landed both of them back in this dreadful place it it was all her fault. They would get out some day. All of them.

"You wanted to see me?" she asked in a deep, husky voice that some men might have found alluring, or intimidating; depending on thier opinions of tall, muscular, and busty 40-something year old women.
"Theresa, I have a small problem with you being even a little bit late. I can't afford error in this business. If you can't deliver punctuality, I can easily have you replaced with someone who does. I can order you to be sent back to Mexico, you know that, right?" his voice became just as intimidating as Theresa's if not more.

Opening her eyes soon after, she looked at Seargant scared. She hadn't even dared to escape, but this was all her fault. She wanted to take punishment for all, so the rest could go free. She didn't mind staying here, she wouldn't know where to go other wise.

He took one and walked to the Brenda. "You, get a syringe for being so stupid as to get caught up in a mutant." Brenda gasped and clutched her ribs. He took the syringe and injected it into her. She screamed out in pain. He walked to the next little mutt, a crimson colored kid. "You, get a syringe for escaping, and as I noticed, breaking Jerome's sniper rifle." He injected it and the pain on the crimson kid was instant. He walked to the next one, the tricky one that disappeared. "You, get a syringe for also escaping." he injected it and she screamed out. "You get a second syringe for aiding the escape of those two," pointing to the crimson kid and the solitary confinement chambers. He injected another and the girl writhed and yelped, screaming. He moved onto the last mutant, the cause of it all. " you, get exactly four syringes, for helping escape four mutants." He injected them one after the other. "Now, as for scientists, you will always walk in at least groups of three. The guard will be doubled and I will visit at least once a week."
He turned toward Theresa and jerome. I want both of you scouting the skies with helicopters for that bird girl. Get on it. Pronto.
Crimson was stepping out of the weapon room when he saw someone he didn't recognize shooting people with darts. Not good. Before he could nock an arrow, a guard siezed his bow and quiver. Then, two scientists grabbed his arms. He struggled, but it was no use. He shut his eyes and waited for whatever punishment to await him. He heard the man's footsteps echoing on the concrete floor. Suddenly, he felt a small pain in his arm, then it was all over his body. He shut his eyes and his throat, trying not to scream. He didn't make it past five seconds. He was thrown back into his original cage, the door locking as it normally did. His body still felt on fire, but not as bad as before. He stopped howling and began to regain his thought process. Angel escaped...his smile broke through, despite the fact that he was in a load of pain. If he'd have reacted faster, he might've escaped with her. Instead, he focused on Shadow Man's gun and it costed him. He watched sadly as the other aides were writhing in the same pain he was in, some more than him with the extra shots. Goner had two and Cat Girl got four shots! That would be too much for me to bear...he thought. They took Goner to experiment on again. He stared bitterly as they noticed that "Subject 17" hasn't been tested on recently. They injected him with something and he was out like a light.
When he awoke, he was on the experiment table again. The pain from the shot was gone now. "Just relax..." the scientist said, smirking,"We're only going to test on you a lot more." He closed his eyes, not even wanting to know what they would do to him. A familiar pain shot up his arm. He knew it was a shot. He opened his eyes. Everything was dark, fuzzy, and painful. Every time he moved his eyes, a sharp pain entered his mind. This was the worst one yet, he thought. He closed his eyes once more until they were done. When they were, they led him to a training room, a gun on him the entire time. They wanted no funny business from Crimson. Once they got there, they tied him to a chair, his arms, legs, and head. He couldn't move anything except his eyes. Across the room, there was a fan. They turned it on and a blast of icy cold air hit his head at top speed. This was torture, he thought as he began chattering. A few minutes passed and the fan was still on full blast, the freezing air penetrating through his head. Stop it! STOP IT! he screamed in his head and wished desperately for the cold air to stop. As if on command, it stopped. "Why'd you stop it?" he asked quietly. The scientists were talking rapidly amongst themselves. They seemed excited and pleased. He turned to the fan to find it still on. "What the hell?" he cried out. One of the scientists untied him and pushed him towards his cage again, the gun still pointed to his back. What did I do? He knew this test was successful and he had another power, but what was it? He was thrown into his cage and he hit the floor. But something was different this time. Instead of the cold floor he experienced every time before, this time, the floor was warm, almost comfortable. He stood up, still puzzled. He began pacing yet again. I now have some power that makes everything warm to my touch, he thought. It was the only reasonabe explanation he could come up with. But why? How would that be useful in combat? Whatever, he thought and went to sleep. He had enough planning for tonight...meanwhile, a scientist was talking to another scientist about their success. "It's official. We've tapped into his skin and now he's able to withstand any weather imaginable. Freezing cold, blazing hot. The only side effect is that his skin changes color to whatever he's radiating. Crimson for heat, cyan for cold, et cetera."

"Yes sir," Jerome replied, no emotion detectable. Inside he knew that the result didn't go as planned. He had watched, mouth open in awe, as he saw the creatures escaping once again, not even an hour passing between the last one. This was supposed to be a more successful day, a day where he explained all of the breakthroughs they had and how many of their projects were safe for army members to use against their opponents.
But no, the subjects got in the way of that because they chose to try and escape again. Brown had to resolve that problem. As the result, he was now furious at them and he had to take charge. Jerome had to handle these cretins better. He turned to Theresa. "Our previous conversation can wait. You bring your two troops and Brenda to go find the winged girl. I'll take care of the subjects, the scientists, and the hunters. They need to be better trained in situations like these. Now go." He left the room and entered the containment room. No scientists was to go alone and he approached three scientists tossing subject 17 into his cage. "The results?" he questioned. "Successful," was the reply. "Excellent," he replied back, then a thought hit him. "This was the one who destroyed my sniper rifle, right?" he asked them. Two didn't know since they weren't there, but the third one did. "Yes sir," he replied. "Once he's awake, take Subject 17, Crimson, Subject 3, Alex, and Subject 2, Sari to my private containment cell." Another "Yes sir" was heard before they left. He turned to each of the subjects he previously listed. He was going to get his revenge.

((OOC: Just a hint of advice, Sari. The private containment room was previously set up to have three chairs inside. Each chair has metal clamps on the arms and legs of the chair. You are supposed to be clamped into one of these chairs. Sorry if this is god-modding.))
Opening her eyes, she looked around, before looking down. Her arms were in metal clamps and so were her legs. She didn't feel comfortable like this. Her legs were shorter, and this wasn't comfortable. She looked around, scared of what was going to happen.
(Nope, fine by me really)
He came out of his thoughts to find that they were in a completely different part of the facility. This wasn't the way to the experiment room. "Where are we going?" he asked. As usual, they didn't answer. Figures, he thought. Another left, two rights, and they stopped in front of a metal door. They punched in a code and the door unlocked. "9264" he memorized the code. It could come in handy someday. He examined the room to find it comprised of white tile and completely bare except for a single metal shelf, a wooden desk, and three chairs. He saw one of the chairs occupied.
"Cat Girl!" he exclaimed before he was shoved to the chair furthest from her. He tried to struggle, but he heard the click of the tranquilizer gun's safety going off and he immediately went passive. He hated being sedated, it was like sleep, but you wake up more tired than you were before. They sat him down and clamped his arms and legs to the chair. He tried to slide his hand out somehow, but to no avail. They were locked tight and probably had no intention of coming loose. He sighed irritated as the scientists left the room. It was now him and Cat Girl alone. What did they want? he wondered, It probably wasn't an experiment since he'd never been in this part of the facility before. He turned to Cat Girl...and then it clicked in his mind. This was going to be about their latest escape attempt, he just felt it in his gut and it slammed hard. He saw her extremely uncomfortable and he felt sympathy for her. For the first time ever, he wondered if she could talk. "Hello, can you understand me? You don't have to speak, just give me a nod or a shake," he said, his first words to Cat Girl.
''S..a..r..i,'' she said softly, telling him her name. She closed her eyes, trying to forget the pain, but it was all just impossible. Four injections wasn't something that went away easily, and she hoped it would be over soon, if it meant her being dead or not, she just wanted the pain gone. But it was all her fault, her fault that she and Crimson sat here. She had gave them another chance to escape, while she shouldn't have.
He sighed and desperately wished he could rub his temples or do anything. His headache was getting to him and he was starting to get that feeling of claustrophobia. Right now, nothing was happening. Who or what were they waiting on, he wondered. There was still one unoccupied chair between him and Sari. He wondered who it could be for...
Goner...
She looked at the empty chair between her and Crimson and cocked her head. Then she realized it was for the girl who could turn invisible and whined slowly. She felt so stupid for doing what she had done. She shouldn't have let the scientist open the cages, she should have just let the scientist go and curl up in her cage, hoping she wouldn't get punished to badly, and now she had brought others in big troubles. And then there was one girl who escaped, one girl, the girl with the wings. She hoped the girl was alright, and would never return to here.
He turned back to Sari and saw her looking glum. It almost appeared like she was beating herself up inside for bringing him and Goner into this. For starting the whole escape attempt. He couldn't let her be self-destructive to herself...besides she didn't do anything wrong. In his eyes and probably Goner's eyes too, it wasn't a wrong thing to escape. In fact, it showed personal initiative, something needed to escape that he didn't believe she had at first.
"Hey now, don't blame yourself," he spoke to her kindly,"If anything, you did a very noble thing. Any sane person would be extremely proud of your actions." Unfortunately, aside from the mutants, there were no sane people here. He kept that thought to himself as he continued. "You should feel proud too. Even if it didn't work out for most of us. These are very bad men, Sari. They want you to believe that your cage is the only safe place. They only want to use you. You have to fight back! It's the right thing to do." He stared at the door, wanting it to open so bad so they could move on...

He crossed to the door and threw it open. He climbed back into his jeep and they pulled out, dirt and gravel spitting from the tires. The driver stepped on it and the barreled down the empty landscape, back to base. This will be perfect. We will conquer.

The light blinded her as her eyes opened. Bright burning light. She tried to move, but restraints held her in place. The thing on her back was still there, and she soon realized, that the thing was attached to her back. She could move her shoulder blades, and the thing quivered, fighting the restraints. -Successful. Subject 3 is perfect, the sergeant will be pleased. Invisibility and Wings? The ultimate weapon. I'll run a few more tests before we put her in with the others- Thoughts from others flowed into her mind. Wings? Sergeant? Others? She was terrible confused and very tired and hungry. A needle pierced her skin and her confusion melted away, and her eyes closed.
She woke in a small room, but a very high room. Tranquilizer dart guns were mounted in each corner. She was the only one in there. A voice rang out "Please flap your wings." Wings? But she..... she turned and looked to find two feathery huge wings attached to her back, still aching. That must have been the thing on her back. But why did she have wings? There already was a bird girl. Then it hit her. Sergeant. He must have wanted more. And she was the first subject. She also noticed that she could see the dart guns, mounted Very high up. If she were normal she wouldn't have been able to see them. Invisibility. Read minds. Wings. Amazing vision. That does seem like a good combo for a war. She sighed, but she was a little excited. She moved her shoulder blades and the wings moved. She experimented a little, flapping them, folding them to her back, keeping them in a comfortable position. After a while, when she was more comfortable with her wings, an excited voice spoke again. "Now fly into the air." She pushed down with her wings and she hopped off the ground a little. She pushed up, then back down again harder and she rose. She flapped some more and swirled around in the air. She went very high up, almost hitting the ceiling, then stopped flapping and gracefully dropped to the floor. This was cool. Something pricked her neck and she fell to the ground. Thee world went dark.
She woke up, chained and restrained in a chair. Beside her was Scales, as she finally decided to nickname the animal thing, and Crimson. Leering over her was Jerome.
Crimson would've jumped out of his seat if he wasn't clampd down to it. Gah, where the hell did he come from? he wondered as he looked at Shadow Man peering over Goner. He had watched Goner being carried in with the wings and was also puzzled about that too, but not for very long because he always knew of people getting whatever added on to them. She was probably no different. So she was the last one, he thought. This definately had to be about the escape attempts.

It's weird how everybody seems to think that I spawn everywhere. Jerome had followed in behind the three scientists carrying Subject 3. The experiment was a huge success. Looks like more mutants with wings and a huge pay raise, he thought as they clamed her down in the chair. A few minutes later, she awoke. He was still looking over her, making sure the wings were in top condition. "I see your latest experiment was a success, Subject 3," he smirked,"As was yours, Subject 17. But we're not here because of your success stories." He turned around and walked over to a metal cabinet. "You see, I have a problem with certain mutants bringing up an escape plan or two. It sparks hope in the rest of the mutants. And hope is a dangerous thing..." He now had three syringes filled with a dark red liquid. "Do you know what this is? Most people would call it blood. I would call it my latest experiment. And you three are the guinea pigs." He went up to Sari first."You see, this liquid is supposed to be a horrendous method of torture. A useful tool to find information out of a person. It causes screaming pain to the entire body without any damage done to any of it. It's about three times as worse as the normal orange liquid...and you three are going to get hourly shots with this liquid until bird girl is back! Subject 2 is getting one for starting the second escape attempt, letting one of my most successful subjects escape." He injected her with the substance, then walked over to Crimson."You are getting one because You started the first escape attempt and smashed my gun in the second." He injected him and went over to Alex,"And this pretty bird is getting one for being a big part in BOTH escape attempts." He injected her and stepped away from the three, watching the substance take effect, causing instant pain.

Crimson had never felt more pain in his entire life. He was trying to squirm out of his seat so he could run around in pain. But, of course, he couldn't do that. He resorted to screaming. The tears flowed because it hurt so much. It was like getting shot with a gun repeatedly, over and over. He felt bad for Goner and Sari, for they had to suffer the same agony as he did. The fact that this was only the first shot made him despair in horror. There were going to be more, each hour, until Angel was re-captured. He didn't like the sound of that, but then again, who would?

But she didn't scream. Her eyes just narrowed, and she glared at Jerome.
This world will never be
What I expected
And if I don't belong
Who would have guessed it
I will not leave alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late
It's never too late
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
No one will ever see
This side reflected
And if there's something wrong
Who would have guessed it
And I have left alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like
It's not too late
It's never too late
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
The world we knew
Won't come back
The time we've lost
Can't get back
The life we had
Won't be ours again
This world will never be
What I expected
And if I don't belong
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late (It's never too late)
It's not too late
It's never too late
She put the headphones down a bit mesmerized. She knew now that she had to go back. She walked out of the store playing the song over and over in her head, unfurled her wings, and took off back into the sky. She was going to go back, and see if they were ok, even if they captured her again, because she knew it was never too late to try to escape from there again.

Crimson's throat was sore due to screaming so much. It hurt so bad, he just didn't think it was possible to hurt this bad and not die. So this is what a fate worse than death was like, he thought. He didn't even notice the scientists come in. He was in too much pain. All of a sudden, the tight grip on his arms and legs were gone. He looked down through blurred tears and found that his arms and legs were unlocked. He could jump for joy, but he knew it wasn't for a good reason that he was done early and his body hurt too much. Two scientists took him outside while the third caught a word from Shadow Man and joined the other two soon after.
It seemed like they rushed him to the experimental room instead of walked him. What was the hurry? he wanted to ask, but he knew he wouldn't get an answer. Soon, they were there. He was strapped down and given a blue shot. It immediately removed the pain in his body. He actually felt like he could breathe again, until he heard these words from one of the scientists: "Hurry, he could explode at any moment!" Explode?! Panic clutched his heart as he began to sweat. Was he going to die? Part of him actually wanted to die, to escape this place and leave it behind forever, but another part of him wanted him alive, so he could escape and feel freedom again. He felt a shot and he instantly felt numb and blacked out.
When he came to, he found himself still strapped to the board. The scientists were all giving relieved sighs and exchanging words around. He still didn't feel safe. "Why am I about to go boom?!" he cried out in panic. One of the scientists turned to him. "It all had to do with your last experiment and an experiment from a long time ago. Do you remember when you first came here and the third test you ever did seemed like a complete dud?" He nodded. "Well it was in one aspect, but not so in another. You see, the entire point of that experiment was to make you be able to shoot bombs and rockets out of your hands, like a human gun. Instead of doing that, it turned you into a walking bomb, waiting to be lit. Well, yesterday, we gave you your lighter. Yesterday's experiment was supposed to help you control your body temperature for extreme weather conditions. It would allow you to raise and lower your body temperature. That one was a success. However, we just discovered that if you raised your temperature level too high, it would activate the bomb inside you. So we had to reverse the effects." When he was done, Crimson had a shocked look on his face. I've been a bomb for the past year now? Man, that would've been bad if he escaped and conjured up a fever. "So you removed the bomb inside of me?" he asked. "That's the other thing," the scientist said, uncomfortably,"The only method we have to remove the properties of the bomb inside you would have a 99% chance of you blowing up. So we can't do anything about it yet." Crimson's shocked face now turned to one of horror. God, help me now..."Now, to take you back and-" He was interrupted by another scientist. "Ah, I see, well change of plans! You're due for another experiment." Crimson was unstrapped and led to a tank. What other experiment? He barely had time to think before he was pushed in, plunging into the darkness.
Opening her eyes as she heard something, she turned to watch Crimson being taken away. She didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing, or both, she had no idea. She also saw Alex, and she had wings! It looked beautiful, yet, she closed her eyes in pain again, but kept her screams inside. She couldn't scream, she had to be strong, no matter what. She had to try to be as strong as she could.
She unfurled her wings and flapped them up and down. The scientists scowled at her and showed her into a lab table. They strapped her in, but on her stomach so her wings weren't restrained. -Test the structure of her bones and progress. Bone marrow can become deformed and alter the vertebrate tissue in her....- She sighed and extended her wings as a needle pierced her skin. She didn't black out so she felt them pull and tug at her wings, inject some stuff, and even pluck a feather or two. In the end they unstrapped her and led her towards a door. On the way she passed a tank and through the tinted glass she could make out a figure. Crimson. They were giving him wings, too. Figures.
Inside the room was the same room she first discovered her wings and flew around. They watched and tested a bunch of things, how fast I could fly and stuff. They even asked me to fly, invisible. It was pretty hard and required a lot of concentration. But at least they weren't doing anything to bad to her today. In fact, this almost helped her flying ability. After the session was over they roughly shoved her back in her cage and she winced as her wings get caught up in the bars. A plan was formulating. A good plan. They would all get out. They would. She just had to be patient.
He woke up in his cage, and the claustrophobia hit instantly. With his newfound wingspan as well as his body, his breathing room had halved. He turned around and found his small scraps of food in a bowl. Well, that's not going to help much, he thought as he imagined a giant container filled with ice cream and a spoon. It appeared and he began to dig in. He had to hurry and eat as much as he could. Usually, when he did this, the scientists took away everything the moment they saw him with it. But luckily, he had his wings this time. He crouched down, spreading his wingspan so that he was completely concealed behind it. Oh yeah, this should buy a lot more time, he thought as he continued eating. Soon after, he was full and still had a humongus portion left to spare. Oh well, he thought, I should remember to spawn a smaller portion next time. He turned around and there were his crimson wings again. Why were his crimson? He saw Angel's wings and they were white. He turned to Goner and there were her wings, white as snow. So why were his wings different? He continued puzzling over his colored wings as scientists came by and saw his tub of ice cream, taking it away and giving him an orange shot. He cringed from the pain, but that was it. He was getting accustomed to these orange shots. Maybe it was the wings or the last two escape attempts, but his confidence was higher than ever and now he wanted out...forever this time.
She slowly looked up to find Crimson having wings too, and cocked her head slightly. Also Alex had wings, she closed her eyes, scared to face them. It was her fault they got in problems, and she wouldn't do such a thing again. She would do nothing against the will of the scientists anymore, and she wouldn't leave her cage, even if it was open. She curled up tighter and shook a little. She whined softly.

He threw a punch at the cage, watching as it did nothing but hurt his hand. Big surprise there, he thought and kept punching. Lefts, rights, hooks, upper cuts...they all fell into patterns as he continuously punched at the cage. Thanks to them, he had crimson hair and eyes. Thanks to them, he was a human time bomb. Thanks to them, he was a freak! He gave one last mighty punch and fell back in the cage. He was breathing hard. Sweat was breaking out. He felt a little better, but only a little bit. He looked at the spot where he was continuously punching at and found a small dent in a single metal bar. Another idea came to him...a fantastic one that he should've thought up a long time ago. It was so simple...
He imagined a pair of pliers that he saw in the experimental lab one time...they were half the size of normal pliars, but they could crunch through most types of metal. Maybe this kind was crunchable...He opened his eyes to find them in front of him. Perfect, he thought, then quickly hid the pliers under the food dish as another group of three passed by, collecting another mutant and taking her to somewhere. The moment they left, he went to work. It was usually a twenty minute interval before the next group of three came in. Repetition and routine was very dangerous, he thought as he pulled out the pliars. He crunched through the top of the first bar very easily, almost with contempt. Oh yeah, this was going to work out great, he thought and continued to the next one.

Jerome was at his desk, putting his plan together when the scientists came in. "Sir, the test on Subject 17 was a success. He now has wings," the scientist said. "Excellent," Jerome replied, then thought to himself who was going to be next. "Three successful results," he thought out loud, while pacing behind his desk. The moment the name came to him, he knew who he wanted next. "Take Subject 2 through the same process as Subject 17," he told the three and they obeyed.
Luckily, they didn't noticed Crimson or anyone for that matter, so he could continue working. He continued to cut and cut at the bars until they were all brunched at the top. He got back as far as he could in the cage and kicked at the door. It bent forward slightly. He kicked at it again...and clenched his fists in triumph as the bars were giving away under the stress. A few more kicks and he was out. He climbed out of the cage, a little more clumsy this time since he just got wings, and looked around. He was out. Escape attempt, take three, he thought and went to the weapon room to collect his bow and arrows yet again. A problem occured there. He now had wings, so he couldn't fit the strap around him. He imagined a belt that had two capped containers attached to each side. The size of each container was enough to fit fifteen arrows in each. He opened his eyes and there it was. He quickly attached the bely, slipping the arrows in each container. He left the room. He had to get Sari back. He wasn't leaving without her. He turned to the man who was unconcious from one of the darts. He wished he could help out more. He had also tried to save Sari. Stefano, I think his name was, he thought. He tossed the pliers to him so that when he awoke, he could use them to escape. He then turned to run.

He turned into the entrance, this time four guards posted at the front door. He had already fired one, watching it bury itself inside one of the security guards. He started screaming in pain. The others had just enought time to realize what was going on before another arrow flew to another guard and buried itself in the other guard's hand. He started screaming from the orange substance dried on the arrows. They pulled out their guns and cocked. Another arrow shaft hit another target. It was now down to one. The last guard fired, but miss for it was a rushed shot. He now dropped his gun as Crimson approached, a look of death in his eye. The security guard started shaking and a wet spot was appearing on his crotch. He drew the arrow back, the tip now an inch away from the security guard's face. Instead of firing, he scratched the cheek. The pain was instant for the security guard as he clutched his cheek and writhed in pain. He rushed out the door another dart flying by. They must've been alerted by the screaming, he thought. He flapped his wings, grinning as he left the ground and soared through the night sky. He kept flying and flying and never looked back. After a few minutes, he looked back and was surprised to find nothing there. He couldn't see the facility. Man, he was flying fast, he thought. But he was already growing tired from flapping so much already. He'd have to stop in a little bit, but he'd push forward for now.
Jerome had just enought time to close the door before the dart's tip smashed through where he used to be. That was close, Jerome thought. He kept his hand on the door, making sure that it couldn't be opened. He'd keep it that way until the effects of the dart he shot took effect and he fell unconcious.
stefano begin to feel nub again 'no not this now' he gathered all his strength to block the door the best he could and the sit down on the ground by sari "i'm sorry sari i failed for now"

Crimson had already stopped twice to rest for a little bit. Now, as he stopped for his third and final time, he could see twinkling lights off in the distance. "Phoenix," he said as he decided not to rest. He was almost there. He flew and flew and flew and finally, he was on the outskirts of Phoenix. No one's going to do anything to me here, he thought, it's too public. As he strolled into town, he got weird looks from what few passerbys were on the street that late at night. Twice, he had to explain to them his alibi: hair dye, color contacts, and the wings were the latest "fad". They just shook their head and walked on. One person, however, told him he saw another girl, this one with white wings, around here and he assumed the same thing. But Crimson knew what that meant. Angel was here...

stefano shook his head "promise is promise, so if you stay i will as well"
She swooped down and fired at the now six guards protecting the door, and made their tranquilizer dart guns disappear too. She flickered for a moment, loosing her concentration, and Jerome fired but missed, as she swooped low and turned invisible again. She burst through the doors and took in fresh sunlight. She ran and kicked off the ground and flapped, heading for the air. Once she was far enough away from the facility, she turned back to normal, already exhausted from staying invisible. She flew as fast as she could, but she wasn't very fast, or trained in flying. She clumsily swooped down to a tree and rested, drinking from her canteen and eating a granola bar. She then jumped off and flapped, heading in the direction she hoped was Phoenix. She had to rest one more time before she reached the city. She should also try and pickpocket some money, like Allaire had done. She swooped low and turned invisible.
The city was marvelous, busy and exiting. She saw fancy rich store nearby and walked up to it, invisible. If its a fancy store, there should be fancy people. She walked up to a classy looking women and opened her purse. She looked back confused, but then shrugged. In the purse was a wallet and she plucked it out. Again, the women looked around but she couldn't see anybody. In the wallet were several hundreds a big wad. She pulled it out and put the wallet back in the purse. As she walked off she counted the money. 3,450 dollars! Who in their right mind would carry that type of cash? She snorted. Rich people of course. She exited the store and walked the streets. Suddenly a familiar mind touched hers. Two familiar minds. In front of her was a hotel, and from a window she could see Allaire and crimson. She smiled and turned invisible, flapping up to them. She landed on the deck and turned uninvisible. She smiled. "Miss me?"
A flashback played before her eyes, her parents were fighting over something, she didn't really know what. She was three years old, and looking normal. Normal... Not animal-like like she was now, but actually like a human. It continued, and her mother, the woman, took her, the baby, Sari, in her hands. She was crying, and holding a... It seemed like a plush, a stuffed bunny it looked like. Slowly, she stopped crying as the woman calmed her down, and than her father, the man, took a knife. Her mother was standing close to the window, and was sitting on the edge. The man came towards her, and with a scream, the woman fell, holding her baby. Hitting the ground, her mother became silent and she was still in the woman's hands. She saw her father from above looking at them before he closed the windows and the curtains to forget them, forever. The woman lay silent, and for two days, she lay there, between the hands of her woman, before someone in a white labcoat found her and took her to this place.
A tear rolled down the cheek of Sari. Her eyes opened, but she closed them again as more tears slid down her cheek, only to land on the iron table. For the first time, she remembered her mother, and her father, and how she was taken. For the first time, she was actually crying.
It hurt, trying to move them, like breaking them it seemed, and she looked at them. The scientists had done sloppy work, and now she wasn't able at all to move them, and they just hang like they were broken. It hurt, but she couldn't do anything. Hearing a door open, she looked up to find scientists coming into the room, two holding tranquilizer guns, three coming towards them.
She got hit in her arm and looked at the dart before her eyes closed, but she just in time saw Stefano getting hit too. Her eyes closed, and she became unconscious, but was glad for a part, she didn't feel the pain.
Slowly opening her eyes, she found herself back in her cage. Her trusted cage, her only home. She looked around and saw Stefano also in his cage, and rested her head on her hands. She let out a sigh, wanting to get away from this place, but being too scared.
Crimson's thought process was interrupted by someone shouting from a hotel balcony. He looked up. There was Angel! Before he could think better of it, he flew up to the balcony, landing kind of edgy and stumbling onto the balcony. But he made it! He'd have to work on those landings since this was his fourth crash, but he was beginning to get the hang of flying. "Angel, is that you?" he asked her,"Small city I guess! I thought you would be to Nashville by now!" He looked down and saw more people pointing at the two people with wings above. He laughed.
And before he knew it, someone appeared out of nowhere and his instincts told him it was Jerome taking him back. He turned to find Goner instead. "You escaped too!" he cried,"How did you do it? And are Sari and Stefano behind you? I lost them at the facility!"

Jerome knew he was in trouble. He now had two escaped birds on the loose and more were likely to follow. They were starting a revolution. He needed to break through their spirits, but he didn't know how. He led the way to his office, Sergeant Brown right behind, red as a fire truck. He sighed as he opened his office door ad led him inside, shutting the door behind him. Let the yelling commence, he thought.
