Lloyd Lexington stands before his father, waiting to take his company, but lacks the business skill, and the respect his father denies him. Not that it matters. Itโ€™s little more than just a slight inconvenience in his grand scheme. He takes after his father, cold, calculating, ruthless. But he holds something his father never did. He holds his own heart, and keeps it locked away in ice. Lloyd is completely free of empathy, and a sociopath, with his dream dangled before him.

Cold to the core, Lloyd doesnโ€™t attract many friends, but is still able enough to drop on a smile and a personality intriguing enough to keep a small following, and a larger list of contacts. The few true friends he does have, know him well enough, to keep from being offended by his โ€˜eccentricโ€™ behavior. Those who he doesnโ€™t know, are simply pawns, waiting for their relevance to show itself to him. However, this disposable thinking ends very harshly at his friends, all of whom he still feels they are lesser than he, but he still holds them to a higher standard than the other pawns that surround him.

Lloyd is manipulative, cocky, and intelligent, with eyes that hint at a game that he plays, that nobody else would ever understand. He typically avoids violence, but doesnโ€™t shy away, too stubborn to leave things alone. Petty thievery isnโ€™t beyond him either, often stealing small things nobody will miss until itโ€™s too late to do anything. He chooses not to get drunk often, but doesnโ€™t mind the occasional glass.

Enjoys mind-games, putting into effect elaborate plays that dance circles around some, so that he can benefit, or come out on top, in some way. Lloyd loves feeling powerful. Whether itโ€™s him standing overtop someone in a brawl, or making another dependent upon him, he relishes the feeling of control he gets. But, no matter how well off he is doing, none of it feels justified to him, unless someone is left to stand witness.

xx โ˜…๏น—๏ผค๏ผฉ๏ผณ๏ผฌ๏ผฉ๏ผซ๏ผฅ๏ผณ
Despite being a business school student, Lloyd hates managing his own finances, especially when heโ€™s barely scraping by. He despises others who seem to think they know better than him, and hates not knowing things. Unfortunately, he also dislikes sitting through classes and sifting through information he finds โ€œtediousโ€ or โ€œpointlessโ€, leaving him intellectually high and dry in many fields.

Sits in interesting and odd ways when thinking, and often thinks aloud, even in empty or crowded places. โ˜† Tends to storm out of rooms, or areas when explaining something, or after having an idea, without ever explaining the full thought. โ˜† Often cradles a drink in his hands at parties and social events, but seldom takes a drink. โ˜† Takes up random hobbies, only to drop them within days, usually as ways to further his โ€˜plansโ€™, or abide his time.

Lloyd was born into a wealthy family. His father was an extremely well-off health care business-owner, his mother a small-time actress. Lloyd was the youngest of three brothers, but the only one completely devoid of emotion. Their mother died while he was still young, but not before he learned to mimic many emotions that โ€˜regularโ€™ people had. As their father grew in age and prestige, his affection was harder and harder to earn, as each of his three children competed in intellectual and academic areas, to earn his respect.

However, as Lloydโ€™s temperament and semi-frequent trips to the local precinct left his father unwilling to make him his familyโ€™s patriarch. Eventually, during an incredibly competitive contest with his brothers, he proves his โ€˜resourcefulnessโ€™ by snatching the answers to a test that none of them were prepared for. He was caught however, and his father, in an attempt to whip his son into shape, dropped him out of the family home, and cut his ties to the family fortune.

But, due to a few quick-fingers, Lloyd was able to snag more than a comfortable amount of cash to โ€˜escapeโ€™ to an apartment building in Seattle, and keep himself enrolled in a local business class at a nearby college. However, with money running low, it has become apparent to Lloyd heโ€™ll need more than just deft hands to keep his โ€˜lavishโ€™ lifestyle, and earn his fatherโ€™s respect, working from the ground up.[/justify]

            Date: July 4, 2016

            Time: 7:14 P.M. Doors open at 8:00 P.M.

Occasion: Who doesn't love a good party? Especially the youths of the city. They're still young, they're allowed to have their fun. One might even say it's almost their duty to do so. Y'know, before life takes a hold with sharp talons and soul-sucking grip. They don't have forever to live. They might as well enjoy the time they've got. Genesis Carter, resident of the infamous apartment building on the corner of Pike's Place and Turnstone, seems to embrace this philosophy. At least, that's what one can assume given the massive rager she's arranged to have held for the fourth of July. What better opportunity to throw a great party? She's pulled out all the stops. Arranged entertainment for the event is local singer Malcolm Lewis, another resident of the apartment building. Plenty of people are invited to attend, and everyone in Seattle knows that when word gets out, more people than the ones initially invited manage to find their way into the party. But who cares, right? Everyone's just out to have a good time. Of course, all the residents of the host's apartment building are invited to attend, so shall we see what the night holds for them?

Location: The old warehouse down in the Station District. It's been a pretty popular location for parties recently.

Lloyd arrived late.

The sun had barely begun to set int the sky, the golden glow catching off the clouds, and promising a wonderful night. Wind swept the occasional paper past his feet as he walked towards the old warehouse. He fished the small white card out from his pocket. An invite to a party. A simple and pointless celebration on the one day that all of America quivered in excitement for: The Fourth of July, Independence Day.

But, this year's celebration promised to be better than the other pointless years of sitting in rooms, and avoiding the city's horrible need to give the sky the biggest light show they could muster. This year, Lloyd was on his own. No father, no brothers, and little money. He needed people on his side.

The party was scheduled to start at 8:00. Of course she'd be there early. But so did he. He needed in before the party started, so he could securely plant himself near the hostess.

Finally scanning the card once over again, he checked the address. He was headed in the right direction. He quickly re-read the card. He was certain he was one of the only people in the entire city to have been given a written invitation. The hostess either already knew those in the building, or had other means of contacting people. There, at the bottom of the card was the hostess's name.

Genesis Carter

She wasn't someone Lloyd would've normally concerned himself with. But her ability to so easily pull together a party this large, just proved herself one of the most influential people in his apartment building. And he needed influence. He wasn't sure on his plan, but with all of his other supposed "friends" at the party, he counted on being able to find some way to talk past her defenses. But, he'd have to play it safe. A girl like her was likely to have a lot of practice pushing others away.

The sight of the old warehouse in the distance brought made him think about Rose. Maybe it was the way the old building sat, gently remind him of her style, or perhaps it was because the sight of the large empty structure reminded him how alone he was. He briefly reconsidered if he should have waited for her.

He pushed the thought from his mind. No. She'd be fine. Besides, he was late. Stopping shortly before the door, he checked himself, and tested a smile. He was ready. Without further hesitation, he knocked on the door.

Genesis finished her tall glass of champagne as she finished waltzing around. Everything was close to perfect. There were still a few things that needed adjusting and tinkering with, but she was practically done. Everything will be complete once the entertainment arrived. But he wasn't here yet. She pulled out her phone to call Malcolm, but then she heard his voice from behind her. Turning to face him, she greeted him with a wide smile. "Don't mind if I do." she responded heading back to the alcohol table to pour herself another tall glass. She also poured one for her friend. Genesis headed back to him and handed over the glass. "Are you nervous, love?" She asked, with a soft smile. She had been friends with him long enough to know when he is more than ready to perform, which was usually when he was alone in his apartment. And she knew when he was nervous, like before gigs and such. This just happens to be on of the times where she could tell that he was nervous.

She took a quick sip from the glass before continuing to speak. "Try and relax. All the people coming have most likely already heard you singing." Gen encouraged. He had a habit of leaving his door open while he is practicing in his room. Everyone in the apartment has most likely heard his voice and enjoyed it. She enjoyed. He had an incredible voice. It's why she shows up to his gigs and such. Well that and to be a supportive best friend.

Just then there was a knock at the door. She checked the time on her phone and realized that it was a still a bit early for anyone to be showing up. But she would not mind letting them in. "Drink your champagne and then go warm up for me please." She asked him. Genesis gave him a quick kiss on his cheek before walking over to the warehouse entrance. She finished her glass of champagne as she went to open the door. Before her stood Lloyd Lexington. She knew him because he lived on the floor below her. She hand wrote his invitation since she did not know him enough to send him a text or email. She smiled politely. โ€Youโ€™re a tad bit early. Come on in.โ€ Genesis said, moving to the side so that he could walk in. โ€Enjoy some food. Partake in the alcohol. If you need anything I will be wandering around.โ€ She told him. There were still a few more things that needed to be dealt with before she started dealing with guests. Especially because she was not ready for guest.

He had more or less reached the warehouse when Mal's reply came. Luca read it and grinned. Sometimes, he was unable to believe how Mal was able to put up with him in the way he did. Cooking them dinner according to Luca's habits, checking up on Luca in a way that made Luca feel cared for as opposed to anxious. Then again, maybe the only reason he didn't get mad or completely shut down was because it was Mal asking. Sure, it was complicated. But, complicated feelings aside, Mal was his best friend. The singer was one of the few people that completely got Mal and all of his flaws, and didn't treat him any differently for it. And perhaps the fact that their relationship was seldom awkward only helped that.

As he turned the corner, his phone started ringing. He checked it, about to ignore the call, but groaned when he saw it was his agent. This was one call he couldn't really hang up on. He answered it, doing his best to hide his annoyance. He was surprisingly successful- well, either that, or the agent was too frazzled to care.

As he talked, pacing outside the warehouse, someone walked past. Blonde hair, not that familiar. Not worth paying any attention to. Not with the conversation at hand.

"Frank- Frank, I have to go, I'm supposed to be somewhere now. Just- I'll email my schedule to you in the morning, okay? And you can re-arrange it or do whatever you have to do to fit it in. Okay. Okay. Thanks," he said, hanging up. The phone call had only made him feel worse. Someone had called to rearrange a shoot and move it to a day when he was busy enough as it was, which was completely disrupted everything. And, of course, everything was important.

He turned his phone on silent and strode up to the side door. It was half-open, so he pushed it open. His eyes first found Mal, and he grinned. It was only as he stepped into the warehouse itself that he spotted Genesis and the blonde from before- Lloyd, was it? He definitely lived in the apartment building, Luca just wasn't sure where.

"Hey guys. Sorry, agent called with important business, otherwise I would have been here ten minutes ago," he admitted. "Ooh, champagne? Don't mind if I do," he said as he reached Mal, pouring himself a tall glass and taking a sip. Champagne used to have a much more potent effect on him- but after having it at so many events and shoots and god knows what else, it may as well have been water. That was why he always preferred the stronger stuff.

"So, superstar," Luca said, turning to Mal. "How're the nerves?"

Mal takes the glass from her hands, sipping on it carefully. The taste of good champagne is always to be savored, but his nervous mind begs him to chug the hard liquor at the table. When Genesis asks if he's nervous, he can't help but laugh. What makes you think that? Mal jokes, trying to restrain himself from downing the rest of this champagne and pouring another glass. If he was going to get drunk tonight, it would have to be later; he couldn't risk his performance.

Genesis' words are calming, but right now, he's really regretting getting here early. "I shouldn't be nervous, but I'm always nervous before a show, no matter who it is." Before Genesis and Mal can delve further into his nervousness, someone else arrives. Mal's heart beat quickens, hoping it'll be Luca to his rescue. Mal lingers longer in the front of the venue, looking to see who enters. But it's not Luca, not even close. Lloyd Lexington, another resident of Pike's Place, walks through the door, and Mal clams up. If he was nervous before, he's downright anxious now. Mal and Lloyd have never been on good terms, and it's not because of Mal. Lloyd seems to think of Mal as some sort of fool, and is always trying to knock him down a few inches. Mal has never been the one to degrade another, so he never gives Lloyd the satisfaction of getting a reaction out of Mal. But right now, the nervousness breaks through and he can't stand to be in the same room for another minute. If Lloyd made a single comment about his singing tonight, or anything related to his career, Mal wouldn't hesitate in reacting. Badly.

Before Mal can run and hide backstage, Luca pops in, and the grin he receives from the model relaxes him immediately. It's probably unhealthy how easily Luca can change his mood, but there are a lot of unhealthy things in their lives right now, and this one just happened to feel good. Luca explains why he's later than expected, but Mal doesn't really care. Just having his roommate in person is satisfactory.

Then Luca acknowledges him personally, and Mal can't help but blush when he's called a superstar. He downs the glass of champagne and pours another for himself. "Just about to warm up, care to join?" Mal offers Luca, ignoring his question about the nerves. Mal grabs Luca's hand and leads him backstage, relishing the sound of their footsteps reverberating and the sight of keyboards and microphones. He sits down and starts playing the opening song, forgetting where he is, losing himself in the music. Music is his safe space, his happy place. Music is his obsession, and he wouldn't be who he is without it. "Kissing up on fences and up on walls, on the way home, I guess it's all working out..."

This was not going well. Lloyd stood in the center of the room, watching the environment slowly slip out of his favor. This is precisely why he despised being late.

Everything began to falter as soon as the door opened. He was originally greeted by the smiling figure of a slightly scantily dressed dark-haired woman he could only assume to be Genesis Carter. She greeted him, turned to offer him the variety of alcoholic beverages and a choice of the selection of food. But he wasn't listening. Not anymore. As soon as the door opened, he spotted someone he dreaded to see. Malcom Lewis, the resident dreamer and the local halfwit. It occurred to him he might show, everyone in Genesis' apartment building had been invited, Malcom included. She probably had invited him over for his musical 'talents'.

"Great, only seconds in, and we're already promising a headache." He thought.

Even as he tried to ignore the unwelcome intrusion, another figure emerged from the now-open door behind him. Luca. Luca walked straight up to Malcom, and before anyone knew it, Malcom was dragging the newest arrival away towards the backstage entrance. Something was very clearly going on between them, the only question remained as to what, but for now it didn't concern him. Now it was back to being an empty room with nothing more than him and Genesis, who was fluttering about, adding slight last-minute adjustments to everything.

Regaining his composure, he walked over towards the alcohol table, grabbing a short glass. He quickly scanned through the drink selection, his eyes landing on a particular drink in the back. "Bell's Premium Blended Scotch?"

While the drink wasn't the most expensive, it certainly was high class, and it was a surprise she had brought one to the party. He quickly pulled the drink from it's place and poured it into his glass. He wasted little time with ice before lightly taking a sip. It was indeed real. The onset of this information left him honestly surprised and as he turned towards his hostess, only to stop dead in his tracks.

Two new arrivals had just moseyed in, shouting their greetings to the generous hostess. He recognized them both. They lived in his apartment building, and had seen them come and go, but as he was one of the newer additions to the building, he hadn't yet found the time, nor the need to go and meet with them. But, then once again, someone new walked into the fray. Another woman walked into the warehouse, giving an excited greeting to the increasingly excited Genesis. And, with a quick glance at his watch and a quicker glance at the wide open doors, new arrivals would be walking nearly every second until dawn.

Lloyd sighed, looked down at his drink, and tipped it back.

It took a moment for the burning sensation that was scotch to coarse through his system, but once the fire-water had passed, he poured himself another drink, forced another smile to his lips, and walked into the crowd, faking as much jubilance as he could.

"Yes, happy Fourth of July!"
He turned looking excitedly from one face to the next, "Parker and Matthias, right?" He stopped at the newest arrival, "And I don't believe we've met before."

"And finally, our gracious host!" He turned towards Genesis. "Genesis was it?"

Genesis finished all the finishing touches. Everything was perfect and she did not think she could do any better. Once Mal was done warming up, they would all have entertainment. Of course she also had back up for whenever he was grew tired of being the only musician playing. It was just a Spotify mix, nothing special. The reason why Malcolm was the only paid entertainment was because she did not want him battling with some other musician. The whole point of this was to make sure everyone else knew how good he was. This was getting his name out. By the end of the night, everyone will be dying to show up to one of his gigs.

Genesis will have to remind him not to forget about her once he becomes big and famous. Another glass of champagne and the brunette was finally starting to feel warm. Eventually she will move to something stronger. Sipping it, she walked around watching more people waltzed through the doors. Luca had arrived and went straight for the alcohol and then with Mal backstage. No doubt he was here to make sure that Mal did not get so nervous and run away. Gen had no problems with Luca. They were not the best of friends but they were friendly due to their mutual friend. "Hey, babe!โ€ Genesis turned around and returned the hug given to her by one of her close friends Parker who was followed by her other close friend Matthias. She had received messages from them earlier letting her know they were on their way. She was glad for the reassurance. Gen would not let them hear the end of it if they hadnโ€™t shown up. They had a habit of forgetting which is why she texted them reminders about it. โ€Thanks. Do you know how hard it was to find food that tasted almost half as good as yours Matty?โ€ She teased. It did take a lot of work though. He was amazing at cooking so she could not just pick anything.

"Hey guys, Happy 4th of July!" The voice came from Kadri. Another one of Genesisโ€™ friends. She is super sweet and like Gen, likes to drink. Another compliment was made her way about the party and the brunette giggled a tad in response. โ€I donโ€™t think I could do this all the time. This was stressful enough.โ€ She responded, with a smile still on her face. She took another sip from her drink when Lloyd approached the small group that was forming. "And finally, our gracious host!" It was official. She was done taking compliments from everyone. It was not that big of a deal. If they knew who she was connected to then they would not be so surprised by how well this turned out. โ€Yeah. And you pointed out Parker and Matthias. And that pretty girl right there is Kadri.โ€ Gen said with a smile. โ€You all better eat all the food and drink all of the alcohol.โ€ She warned them all. Then she remembered that Genesis needed to make sure that Mal would perform. She quickly pulled out her phone.
;Mal
Not to rush your warm up, love. But there is a crowd waiting to hear your voice. Break a leg!

ImageKadri surveyed the bunch as they quickly sang their replies, they all seemed decent enough in their own right and she was curious to see how things would change as the year marched on and as the anti was inevitably upped. It was sure to be interesting, that was a given, but she hoped that regardless of all the drama and squabbles that Seattle would become a safe space for her, New York wasn't what she wanted anymore.

After mulling through her rather introspective thoughts, she was jarred back to reality by another one of the tenants merging into their little powwow. He stood at all of 5'8 inches with platinum blonde hair, a piercing blue eyed gaze and a deathly serious grimace turned ebullient smile. Kadri readjusted her purse squarely on her shoulder whilst she gave him a subtle appraising glance.
He looks like someone or something familiar... she thought, almost giggly at the revelation, but quickly turning her brewing chuckle into a curt smile as the conversation buzzed along.
An elf, that's got to be it! She mused, but immediately she one upped her own accusation. Or maybe an imp is more fitting with that perfectly executed "tortured by humanity" face he had on before putting on a good face and waltzing over here. Hearing her name role cheerily from Genesis' mouth Kadriyan shook off her inner monologue for a spell in favor or conversing with the people around her. She breathed a quick and polite Hello to the blonde before addressing him directly.

"I don't think we've ever met before this, what's your name? I'm Kadriyan as Genesis kindly introduced, I live on the first floor of the building with Macy Vandover if you're familiar with her." She wondered if she should've specified which floor she lived on to a man she clearly had reservations about, but shook the worry when she thought about how accessible it was to find out where everyone lived in a such an exclusive little apartment. As the question left her lips the muted sounds of instruments humming and a microphones feedback rang into the mood, immediately creating an exciting buzz, the festivities were soon to be under way with Mal as the headliner for the night. Kadri quitely cursed herself, for forgetting that she was supposed to get the gift to Mal BEFORE he was to perform, but now was a little too late for that. Disappointingly she decided that she'd give it to him after his performance, and immediately mask the shame with some hard liquor.

ImageRosaline 's room was a tornado of clothing and chaos as she quickly tried to throw together one of her many messy, multicolored ensables. A pair of tights, a nice skirt and some bright orange platforms later and she was dressed for the night. Unfortunately for her she had fallen asleep and naps always mean losing half a day when it comes to her.
She did her makeup quickly, minimally and efficiently and topped off her red head with a pretty flower crown because why not?The more colorful, the more loud, the better. She knew that her roommate, Lloyd had probably already left for the party because he was a meanie that never thought to include her. That was fine though, he knew he'd hear about it later.
Rosaline chuckled as she sent a quick text to him:

"I hope you know how much of a butthole you are for not waking me XP"

She ran out as fast as she could out the door and to the elevator that would take her all the way down to the first floor and onto the street where her bug was waiting for her. She hopped in and drove the short distance to the warehouse where the party would be held and she smiled at the old building. Old things were her favorite.
As she climbed out of the vehicle she stretched her hands and popped her knuckles. Playing the piano as often as she did is pretty hard on the joints and she's had her fair share of cramps. She walked up to the stairs to the floor the party was on and shook out the last of her cramps, they wouldn't bother her tonight. Rosaline didn't take very many opportunities to socialize with her fellow tennants, as she really valued personal time, but when she did she made sure to live it up. She ran up the stairs as quickly as possible as the mantra "latelatelatelatelatelatelatelate" punctuated every step. She finally reached the door and took a deep breath, making sure to straighten her flower crown, and threw open the door. Immediately her eagle eyes settled on the small group in the center and the many people mulling about, all waiting on Mal to rock the stage. She pulled out her phone before moving as sent him a quick text:
"Good Luck sweetie! You'll do great!<3"

She put her phone in her purse and walked up behind Lloyd and leaned her head over his shoulder, "MMMMMHMMMMM"
She laughed and walked around him and smiled to him and everyone,
"Evening everyone! It's a pretty day for a party huh?"

The party had finally began to kick up in earnest, a few more random guests had slowly trickled in outside of their group, and Malcom's 'performance' had already threatened to start soon. Lloyd was getting tired of the charade already, as he could visibly see Genesis begin to slowly close herself off from the group, not really standing with them, so much as standing by them. The woman he had addressed earlier was introduced as Kadriyan, apparently another one of the few from his apartment building. He smiled and thanked them both graciously.

She casually mentioned she lived Macy Vandover down on the first floor. The name sounded familiar, perhaps mentioned in passing by another one of the few acquaintances he'd made so far. He was about to reply when a bright pale face with orange hair leaned in over his shoulder. For a brief moment, the smile faded, but he quickly replaced it as he breathed.

His housemate, Rosaline had finally arrived. He was right in his assumption she'd make it fine, but in truth, he hadn't exactly given her much leeway when it came to time. He had just picked up the invite from it's place on the counter, and walked out of the room, leaving her dozing off in her room. She always tended to sleep for much of a day, and waking her wasn't an option, so with no promise of her waking soon, he rushed off, hoping to arrive before things started.

Rose's intrusion into the conversation gave Lloyd a chance to look around, taking note of the other guests. The trickle of people had turned into a flood, and now many more people than just the occupants of their shabby little apartment building had filled the room, some holding drinks, others holding small plates of food. It all looked rather amazing, all of it being fully organized by a single person. Lloyd looked down at his drink, realizing some likely just came for the free alcohol and entertainment. A final glace at the door showed the sun falling ever closer to the horizon, as the golden light had dimmed considerably. It wouldn't be too long now.

All that Lloyd needed to try and find some way to strike up a conversation with his hostess, maybe establish himself as a friend. He doubted he would learn much about her tonight, but asking a few general questions, as the curious friend, might lend him some kind of information. If only he could keep Rose from dissuading him too much.

Taking another sip of his drink, he shot Rose a slight warning glance. He only hoped she would keep her nose clean, and try and not tell everyone his truer intentions. Refreshing his smile, he looked back over towards Genesis. "You have an incredibly fine selection of drinks, Ms Carter. How did you manage to get your hands on any of this?"

He sounded happy, almost forced. He needed to reel it in, and seem genuine. However, before he could get a reply, a dull hum and a static feedback from a recently turned on microphone rang throughout the room. Everyone turned their attention to the stage, and hid his irritation, turning with them. Malcom's performance was about to begin, and everyone in the room knew it. Lloyd sighed, and finished his drink, quietly excusing himself back to the alcohol table. At this rate, he'd be wasted before the night was over.

Matthias couldnโ€™t help but be distracted, even as more and more people joined the small group surrounding the host. All of a sudden, a wave of tension washed over him; he seemed to recall why exactly it was he disliked attending parties of any sort. Even among people he knew relatively well, he still felt mildly uncomfortable, and he knew itโ€™d be particularly awful when he was surrounded by strangers.

Before the influx of people, there was a wisecrack from Genesis. A comment about his general cooking skill, and likely also about his general snobbiness towards othersโ€™ food. He laughed, a genuine laugh, and opened his mouth to reply, but never got the chance as someone came in with a loud greeting.

First came the curly-haired girl from the first floor. He knew her by her gait, always impressed with her casual ease and elegance in basic movement. But theyโ€™d rarely spoken, and the most Matt did was offer a small smile at her appearance.

Then it was the latest addition to their hodge-podge of tenants. From overheard conversations, Matt had picked out his name to be Lloyd, but he knew nothing about the man beyond that. Theyโ€™d never spoken, and to be perfectly honest, it was no accident. His presence left Matt with an unsettling feeling deep within his stomach, and Matt tended to listen to his gut instinct. It had rarely steered him wrong, and as always, his motto steered heavily in the direction of โ€œbetter safe than sorry.โ€ He merely nodded when Lloyd greeted him by name and Genesis confirmed it, though Parker had no reservations when it came to him. She dealt with him as she did with any unknown peopleโ€” with a smile and a peppy greeting. He frowned. He always tried to get her to proceed with a little more caution, at the very least, but his lessons rarely held any weight. She continued on her path, striking up conversation where she went, regardless of location or person.

More casual conversation ensued, to which Matt wasnโ€™t particularly tuned into. Still, he couldnโ€™t help the frequent glances over his shoulder; the habit was hardwired into him, always wary of crowds and any large swaths of people. He knew heโ€™d make his way to the back wall when Mal began his set, despite the fact that he had been told by the boy that heโ€™d be looking for him in the front row. It was something that simply couldnโ€™t be helped.

A bright head of red hair appeared, adding to Mattโ€™s ever increasing discomfort. Heโ€™d never had the chance to get to know her too well either, but he didnโ€™t lament the fact. She came off a child to him, someone difficult to deal with. He had plenty of those sorts in his life already.

Time passed faster than he had expected, and then the lights were dimming. He checked his wristwatch. Eight fifteen. Damn. He wanted to get to a wall before the crowd concentrated and made it difficult to maneuver through the throngs of people, so he leaned forward and lightly ruffled Genโ€™s hair, his silent method of saying heโ€™d be leaving their small group, and clapped Parker on the shoulder. With a curt nod to the rest of the people around him, he slid off into the general darkness of the warehouse. Heโ€™d find his way back to Gen and Parker later, after Malโ€™s set was over and done with, but he knew heโ€™d hate the experience of being part of a bouncing audience. Thereโ€™d still be plenty of time for socialization after the set, the party was bound to go on into the early hours of the morning, and Mal wouldnโ€™t be on nearly that long. No, with his back against a surface, he was content enough to wait the hour it would take to listen to the concert. And it helped that he was sure heโ€™d enjoy the boyโ€™s singing as well.

ImageKadri watched curiously as the the group slowly began to dissolve into the sea of unfamiliar faces of the other attendees of the 4th of July extravaganza. Matthias retreated to a far corner of the warehouse, seeming almost guard-like as he stood there taking a passive play at experiencing the party. Being the lone wolf wasn't ever really Kadriyan's style, she was always filling her work free time with interesting people and wild shenanigans just for the sheer art of disaster and spontaneity, but she could definitely respect his discipline. If there was nothing else Matthias could provide as a benefit of his companionship, Kadri duly noted that his observant nature and overall temperance was still a virtue worth it's weight in gold.

Llyod on the other hand, who's collected persona rivaled Matthias' own in its own ways made his way to the bar with the intent of a heat seeking missile trained on a crowd of warm bodies. Noted. She thought, not really passing harsh judgement, but making a sharp observation. As the saying goes he who cast the first stone, blah... blah.. blah.. Kadri has always been a hard drinker, even in her more studious and straight-and-narrow high school and college days. Any chance she got to unwind and knock back a drink she took full liberty in her God given right to get shit faced and deal with hungover Kadri in the morning... Well, maybe God-given wasn't the right choice of words for a girl who grew up with a holy book strictly condemning alcohol, but someone's sacred book out there probably celebrated the stuff and that possibility was enough for her to leave the worries in the bottom of each bottle. Keeping her eyes on Llyod a half beat longer she felt a small burst of accomplishment rush over her, even though it was for something so silly. She smirked knowing now with the utmost certainty that there was something utterly off about her neighbor, and more than just an affinity for control. Drinkers are always the same. Yeah, that first shot may be for the hell of it, to let loose, to have fun, but the last drink of the night always tastes poignantly desperate and like the bitters of whatever you're chasing or conversely what's chasing you. Removing her gaze from the boy and refocusing on the lot that stood before her made up of Genesis, Parker and Rose she smiled politely.

"I hope you ladies don't mind if I step away for a sec to help myself to a drink. You're all welcome to come of course, I'll even mix something special for everyone if you think you can handle it. I'm always happy to introduce friends to some interesting liquor, it's always more fun to get drunk in style." She said with a chuckle and raised eyebrows hoping the girls would join her in traversing the dangerously slippery slope that was alcohol masked almost completely by the taste of syrups and fruit juices. Over the years Kadri found that maintaining a light buzz with mixed drinks always seemed to be possible in the beginning but without fail five minutes in you're wondering how the it all crept up on you so fast. By the end of the set Kadri intended to be thoroughly blown away and completely carefree enough to party until the wee morning hours regardless of her early morning rehearsal for work the following day. Hearing the instrumentals carry through out the space that would be greeted by Mal's voice any second she awaited their replies.

It had only taken two more drinks, but Lloyd had done it. He had somehow survived the onslaught of vocal pitches and rolls that was Malcom's performance. Unfortunately, the two drinks had cost him; he was beginning to feel more than a bit fuzzy around the edges. For a man who typically held a strong drink in his hand, he wasn't much of an honest drinker. At most social venues he attended, he simply grabbed a drink, then discretely dumped it at the conclusion of the evening. The only reason he'd been so liberal with the alcohol at this particular event, was due to it's guests. In particular, the only ones he bothered to avoid.

He needed to keep his discipline, any more drinks may spell the end, and he'd once again be all to happy to spill his own thoughts and dreaded 'feelings' into the crowd around him. The only other time that happened, it had somehow resulted in the addition of a new friend, Rose. Now wasn't the time for such foolishness. Lloyd needed to try and pull himself together, and try and get what he could out of the night.

Turning back towards the main crowd, his eyes landed on his former 'group', now disbanding completely as the host and one of the other female residents, Parker, begin to make their way towards the back wall. They were already to far off to simply walk up to, and the final remaining member, Kadriyan, was beginning to turn his way. Just what the night needed, more unwanted attention from more of his unknown residents. However, she wasn't looking at him. Following her gaze, he noticed the large crowd of people clumping about two notable figures.

Making their way from the stage's back entrance, Luca and Malcom were slowly meandering between admirers and fans, Luca pulling Malcom ever closer to the bar. Lloyd looked away. The last thing he wanted was to run into the fool in the afterglow of achievement. It was horror enough that even after hearing the wretched performance, people still rushed so quickly to give praise. Another glance back that direction proved his newest fear. Kadriyan was intercepting them, and they were all headed directly for the bar.

Taking a final sip of his drink, he turned and walked through the crowd, feigning a happy, yet apologetic expression as he made his way further and further from the bar. He had just begun apologizing to a man who he'd jostled, laughing lightly and pointing at his drink with that dammed silly expression people loved to see, when his eyes landed on a small duo before him. Two friends, clearly intent on either drinking the night away, or talking themselves into oblivion were talking on about late-comings and sleepless nights.

Lloyd had somehow managed to stumble directly into another set of residents from his humble apartment building. One of Rose's rather strange friends, Dana was talking to another little anomaly that presented itself in the form of Holden Jacobs. Lloyd renewed his smile, almost genuinely, as he realized the night perhaps wasn't such a waste. Perhaps Malcom's intrusion was one of Rose's 'miracles in disguise'.

Lloyd quickly walked in, holding out his free hand.
"Hi! Dana, and -Holden Jacobs, was it? Fancy seeing you here. How're things, if I may?"

Drinks were necessary, especially in a setting such as what heโ€™d heard a couple of drunk college kids refer to as โ€œthe most wild rager of their livesโ€. It was a fantastic party, Dana knew that. Come tomorrow, thereโ€™d be nothing on his social media feed but the celebration and specifics. In fact, he himself would be posting. After all, it was already well established by the whispered rumors circulating around that anyone who was somebody, at least around this area, would be there. And he knew drinks were what determined whoโ€™s who when it came to socialising.

Back home, at least in Busan, those who couldnโ€™t survive a night filled with alcohol were referred to as mood-killers. Dana was never an avid drinker, but he usually managed to get through at least a couple of cups, depending on the strength of whatever they handed him. Over the years, heโ€™d discovered a handy trick that helped tremendously, particularly on nights when getting drunk was the last thing on his mind. Always bring a bottle of water, the lightweight learned. A small diversion coupled with a quick sleight of hand, and it was miraculously easier to drink. Unfortunately, having woken up later than expected, Dana was not prepared this time. Thankfully, his friend had poured him a glass of one of the lightest out of the array. Rolling his eyes at Holdenโ€™s joke, but also smiling, Dana lifted the cool liquid to his lips and felt the substance slide down his throat appreciatively. Champagne, although stronger than diluted Soju, he could handle without water.

โ€œOuch. How did you even live through the day without sleep?โ€, Patting Holdenโ€™s arm sympathetically, Dana winced, sucking in air through his teeth. โ€œTough work, saving lives.โ€ At the other maleโ€™s question, he laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head. โ€œThis sounds horrible, especially now that Iโ€™ve heard your reason for being late, but donโ€™t judge me!โ€, Dana paused to look at Holden straight in the eyes and continued in a serious manner. โ€œI was sleeping and I couldnโ€™t wake up.โ€ Smoothing his shirt and running a hand carefully through his styled hair, the fashion blogger admitted, โ€œIโ€™m really slow, especially when Iโ€™m groggy.โ€ Then, recovering from his moment of slight embarrassment, Dana drank the rest of his champagne and poured himself another glass of alcohol. This time, he chose something stronger. Giving the EMT a half hug by wrapping his right, drink-less arm around his waist, Dana gave him a blindingly white smile and chirped, โ€œLook on the bright side! If you hadnโ€™t promised Genesis, and dragged your butt to this warehouse, we wouldnโ€™t have had this splendid opportunity to discuss why we were late tonight!โ€

They exchanged a few more sentences, along with laughter and more poured alcohol before their conversation was brought to an end by the arrival of another tenant. "Hi! Dana, and -Holden Jacobs, was it? Fancy seeing you here. How're things, if I may?" Rare, but familiar, Dana realised that the voice belonged to Lloyd Lexington, the roommate of his friend, Rosaline. Prior to the party, Danaโ€™d encountered Lloyd a little less than five times. The fourth and a half time, which was most recent, heโ€™d only seen the back of his head before the older man disappeared into his side of the floor. While Dana did not know the man well, he was a good friend of his roommate. When stuck on a song, or simply when he needed a small push in the right direction, Dana dropped by to see the talented music student. However, nowโ€™s as good as any other time to get to know someone, right? , Dana thought to himself, turning his attention to the blonde. โ€œWhy, hello there!โ€, Greeting him cheerfully, Dana gave Lloyd a smile just as bright as the one heโ€™d given to his companion on his right. โ€œThings, are good. Weโ€™re both just the tiniest bit tired, though. And how are things for you?โ€ He asked, after shaking his hand.

Genesis loved the fact that she had a steady supply of alcohol. Well apparently so did everyone else. If everyone kept up the way everyone was drinking they would run out before the night is over. It only took one phone call to get more, but she was hoping that she wasn't in the mood for that. Then she would have to promise to another date and her weekend was already booked up for next week. So whatever alcohol they had, that needed to last for the rest of the party. Gen didn't really tell anyone when the party was over. She just figured people would start leaving after they become ridiculously drunk or completely exhausted. That had to be around midnight.

Out of no where, she was being pulled into a hug. For a moment she was confused, but then she recognized the person as Bittor. "Sorry I'm fashionably late, Genie." The hostess rolled his eyes. of course that was his excuse. She pulled from the hug. "Well you missed a great performance and you are missing out on all the good drinks." She said, gesturing to the open bar. Excusing herself from Parker and Matthias, she guided Bittor towards the open bar. "I'm assuming you are going to make this up to me later?" She said with a wink.

She started to get herself another drink. She was planning on walking at least half-wasted before leaving. If she got any more intoxicated past that, then she would not be a very good host. She handed a drink over to Bittor and took a sip of it from her own glass. "So tell me why you showed up so late. I know it wasn't spent getting dressed, since I have seen you get dressed and you manage to get it done in record time." Genesis teased.

โ€œOuch. How did you even live through the day without sleep? Holden shrugged and took another sip of champagne. He still doesn't even know how he is surviving on the few hours of sleep he had a few days ago. In fact he definitely needed deep sleep o be able to recover from his work. "But I love my job. And oddly enough the lack of sleep that goes with it." He joked taking another sip of his of his alcohol. Genesis was going to need a really big thank you for the fact that she had the best alcohol ever and threw the best party. But now he was going to have to beg Mal to play for him or share when his next performance. He had been looking forward to that. When Dana shared what made him late, Holden laughed a tad. "Horrible reason to be late, but I can't judge. I would kill for the nap you had." Holden said to him.

Dana got more alcohol and gave the EMT a half hug. Holden decided that he needed something stronger as well. He was definitely not going to be out drank by someone who doesn't drink that much. [b]โ€œLook on the bright side! If you hadnโ€™t promised Genesis, and dragged your butt to this warehouse, we wouldnโ€™t have had this splendid opportunity to discuss why we were late tonight!โ€ Holden laughed. "And what a splendid opportunity it is." He replied, clinking his glass with Dana's. After a moment, someone joined the two. Holden recognized him, but did not really know him. "And you're Lloyd Lexington." He said with a small smile, shaking his hand.

Dana answered for the both of them and he nodded. "Tired is almost an understatement."

Time: 9:39 A.M.

Occasion: Who doesn't love a good party? The question was asked. And answered. Well, to some extent. No one from the apartment building on the corner of Pike's Place and Turnstone doesn't, that's for sure.

The initial performance by local singer Malcolm Lewis really set the ambiance for the rest of the night, which was pretty spectacular. Host Genesis Carter truly brought her A-game, with a phenomenal food and drink selection, and one of the best DJs in the city. Few frowns were seen throughout the night, as people enjoyed the good vibes within the warehouse, simply dancing and letting loose. But now it's time a second question.

Who actually cares for the day after a party? It sucks in more than one way. For instance, for those who drank much more than they could handle, the morning is accompanied by a pounding migraine. Others may have made some questionable choices whilst under the influence. Some drank responsibly enough, but it's still never fun to wake up after a night of great fun and have to return to a mundane life of normalcy. Just how are the residents of the apartment building getting on?

Lloyd stirred to the feeling of a phone in his pocket buzzing. Opening his eyes, he found his head was also buzzing. Perhaps the performance had forced him to grab more drinks than he really needed. Sighing in the cold acceptance of the headache that would continue to rage through his head for the rest of the... morning? He raised his head, looking out his window. Luckily he was still able to return home, and clamber into his own bed. The sky was bright, and that's all Lloyd could see. He couldn't determine the time of day, as the window simply seemed to bleed a light that was intent on piercing his eyes and bleed a dull pain into his mind.

Fantastic. Not only had he failed to get a single meaningful conversation underway last night, he had somehow managed to get a hangover in store for later. Lloyd begrudgingly pulled the phone from his pocket, squinting against the artificial light. A new message from Dana. Staring at the contact, Lloyd ran the events through his head. Had he even talked to him? Yes, he had, but had they exchanged numbers? Intrigued, he selected the notification him, bringing him to a line of text messages, the newest reading:

Morning~ Iโ€™m pretty sure I saw someone with long auburn hair who bore a striking resemblance to a beloved friend of mine at the party last night. Iโ€™m hurt that you didnโ€™t say hi... nothing will heal my broken heart < / 3

Something was off. He turned the phone in his hand.

"What the hell?"

Lloyd had no idea how he had managed to aquire Rose's phone, but somehow, here it was in his hand. Hoping his own phone was somewhere safe, maybe a trash can, or even better, lost in his room, he reasoned it wouldn't be a big loss buying another phone. Well, holding the phone in his hand, he decided he had a few courses of action. He could send Dana a text, playing to be his housemate, or he could simply return the phone to Rose herself.

He already had the messenger open again, attempting to find something to say that might not only match her voice, but also keep himself in some sort of favor. Clearly he couldn't be too direct, but perhaps simplicity was the key. Tea, perhaps later this afternoon, sounded like a good time to rekindle the conversation, and something that might quell his head throbbing.

But after an hour of trying, he simply couldn't do it. Nothing he wrote sounded like her. Groaning in defeat, he pulled himself out of bed, and walked out into the main room, walking on over to Rose's door, rapping his knuckles on the door, calling out.

"Rose, you'll have to invite that Dana fellow over to tea." Then, after a pause, "I'd love to learn more about your 'friend', no ill meanings, I promise."

Then only after his little speech, he pondered the possibility of Rose not even being home. His mind was acting slow today.

Rosaline wasn't one to sleep in late. "Early bird gets the worm!" her cheerful mother would always say, but after last night it was nice to sleep in for a change. She had no appointment, lessons, or rehearsals that day so she decided to simply relax and stare at the ceiling of her bedroom. Her bed was fluffy and her room was messy and colorful, but there was hardly anything else that truly represented her than those two words.
Last night flew by in a whirlwind of dancing and laughter and she smiled at the memory. Of course she didn't drink or anything like that, she just didn't particularly like it, but some definitely did and she found herself giggling at the memory. Even Lloyd seemed to have fun, but of course one never really knew with him. No matter what the man did, whether it was eating or simple chatting you better believe he had an agenda.
The simple thought of Lloyd made her come back to reality and she threw her covers of to use the facilities and brush her teeth. Idle handle and all that, she also needed to practice and she was lucky enough that her roommate liked to hear her playing. She did her hair quickly, scrunching it until it had volume and adding random things in it just because. She decided to stay airy with her wardrobe and accessories and tried her best to be conservative. It never worked of course. Once she was done, she went to check her phone messages and discovered her phone was switched out with Lloyd's!
"Well that's weird!"
She stared in wonder at the plain black case and was perplexed how she could mistake this boring phone for her covered-in-daises one. Just when she was about to go and investigate this mishap she heard a knock on her door.
"Rose, you'll have to invite that Dana fellow over to tea",to which he paused then stated,"I'd love to learn more about your 'friend', no ill meanings, I promise."
And suddenly everything slid into place. She didn't think Lloyd took her phone on purpose, or else she wouldn't have his, but she's not so naive as to believe he didn't have plans for this new "meeting". If nothing it was to at least intel and he should at least expect her to assume such.
As she opened the door to her messy room with the most convincing mothering look she could muster. She grabbed her phone in his awaiting hand and replacing it with his own.
"Shame on you Lloyd Lexington. A girl's phone is private."
She looked through her phone and saw the message from Dana and quickly replied.
To Dana:
"Of course Dear! I'll make us some lunch!Come whenever!"

She turned her attention back to Lloyd and kept her serious look up the best she could while leaning closer to him.
"You're lucky I'm secretly in love with you."
She then proceeded to kiss his cheek and wink before sweeping past him towards the kitchen to make lunch for her best boys."Is salad and sandwiches okay for lunch?", she called to him as she gathered ingredients.

"Shame on you Lloyd Lexington. A girl's phone is private."

"Only as private as one allows it to be Rose."

"You're lucky I'm secretly in love with you."

Lloyd rolled his eyes taking on a horribly sarcastic tone. "Oh yeah, can't wait to go waste millions planning weddings with you!" Returning back to his normal tone, "But in all honesty, I can't help but wonder how you managed to get a hold of my phone. And how you resisted the urge to look through it. Typically people of your calibur are dying to know what goes on behind closed doors, --or lock screens, in this case."

Dropping his phone within his pocket, Lloyd walked over to the couch and fell back. The light filtered through the window, kicking his mild hangover back into gear. Twisting around to keep his eyes from the light, he called back over to Rose. "What time is it, noon?"

Lloyd almost wished it was, even though that would mean he had slept in horribly late, he wanted the day over so he could return to the silly little teachers in their dull classrooms full of dimwitted students. While it was hardly anywhere he enjoyed being, he wanted to return to the university so that he could be as far away from the other residents of his apartment building. He hadn't had the chance to speak with that many last night, but the few he did speak with betrayed the small fear he had of all of them being hopelessly boring.

Surely a few of them still had connections, and one or two of those connections might just be in the right places; people he needed to both regain a financial foothold, and deal with a few 'problematic' people.

At the very least, he did have Dana coming over, and while the kid didn't seem remarkable, Lloyd was used to surprises. At least, when it came to unusual people. Looking over at Rose, he knew he had already found one of the strangest people he'd ever meet. And knowing that made every other confrontation with people easier.

A church bell began to ring in the distance.

"Awe hell. Is today Sunday?"
