The thumping sound of music lightly shook the grounds of Thorn Hill Academy, as for once the town wasn't quiet at night. The once empty lot of land around the back of the academy was now filled with a flurry of students, supernatural and human alike. There were booths set up with various carnival games, "Dunk the Mermaid", and "Pin the Tail on the Minotaur", as well as food and drinks (accommodative for every species). Some of the professors, and even the headmaster, Korir, were in attendance although they inhabited the outskirts of the field. It was truly a sight to see, wings, horns, fangs, and tails out and proud. Once again, Thorn Hill pridefully showing that it has always been and will always be a safe place for supernaturals. Or so it thought.

OLEANDER MURPHY
fae - outfit - #DAB71D

Parties were the perfect kind of euphoria for a fairy. Oleander practically fed off the energy emanating from the other students, and it fueled his veins with a wonderful rush of energy. When the idea was first proposed to do a little student carnival and dance to help better integrate the human students, Ollie was all on board. He was on of the split few, who were actually excited about the humans. The school was pretty much 50/50 at this point.

His first stop was one of the carnival booths that his friend, KD, a fellow fae was running. "Hey stranger"
Ollie said placing an arm on the table of the booth resting his cheek against it. "Ollie. Thank god. I can't tell you how boring it is watching them throw darts at balloons. I don't understand why the professors thought this was a good idea, this game is only challenging to... humans". Ollie simply rolled his eyes with a small chuckle, "Well maybe if you'd actually pay attention in demonology you wouldn't have to run this for extra credit". KD groaned pinching the bridge of his nose, "only three more hours". "Have fun for me, will ya?" KD said shoving Ollie playfully in the shoulder, "let me have satisfaction that at least one of us is having fun". Oleander pushed himself off the table and winked at the fae, "Do you really have to tell me to have fun?" With that he began to walk away towards the other games leaving KD shaking his head. "Not too much fun!".

EVONA DRAKANOV
vampire - outfit - #3B0404

Image
Image
Evona Drakanov loved parties. Especially supernatural parties. You could count on all of the species, mashed together to create a damn good time. Of course, the idea of adding humans into the mix was slightly questionable, but deep down she couldn't wait to meet them. None of her classes had enrolled a human yet, much to her dismay she quite enjoyed the living things.

Evona found herself comfortable within the writhing mass of sweaty students near the front of the dance circle, probably doing the things their parent's have nightmares about. Which is something to say considering they were the stuff of nightmares. Even with her small stature it's not hard to notice the wild vamp bopping along amiss the crowd. From her elegant, yet risqué dancing to just the sheer, magnetic vibe that all vampires gave off. It's certainly a strange sight.

After a while of dancing she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely. Normally she was surrounded by her friends, but Eve had gotten to the little bash quite early, and hadn't seen anyone she knew fairly well yet. Where was her mermaid when she needed her. The task of leaving the dance circle is a lot harder than it looks, but it wasn't too much of a problem for her. "Excuse me! Out of my way please, thank you"
. She got a few annoyed glances here and there but nothing that a little flash of fangs wouldn't dispel.

She made her way over to the food and drink area, her eyes scanning the various containers with labels that seemed to come straight from a halloween party. A small laugh erupted from her as she imagined the poor humans trying to navigate this assortment of treats. Reaching for a cup, she filled it halfway with the dark red liquid from the container labeled AB Positive. Taking a small sip, her muscles instantly relaxed and she felt much sharper, her eyes scanning the crowd for any familiar faces as she lazily leaned back up against the table.

Reginald was fresh to death or so he thought he was. His eyes scrolled over his reflection in the small mirror that was in front of him as he smiled brightly then popped his collar. Reginald reached down and grabbed his wristwatch that he immediately placed upon his wrist and looked down at the time. oh, crap. He had thought to himself as he dabbed on a few spritzes of polo black cologne before exiting the area he was currently in then walked over toward the spot where he was meeting Elijah. If he was being honest with himself, Elijah or Eli, which he liked to call him, was someone that he really liked. Yes, he was a siren but this was no spell that Reginald was under because it felt a little bit too real. Something was developing between them and he wasn’t going to fight to say the very least.

As he bee-bopped toward the meeting spot, he had bumped into Priscilla, who smiled at him and made him stop within his trek to stare at her. ”Look at you, styling and profiling.” She spoke with a huge smile and glanced over his attire and whole aura. ”The party is this way, silly billy.” Priscilla said with a chuckle and tried her best to drag Reginald in the other direction. ”Thanks, you look good, too. Oh, I am actually meeting Elijah somewhere. We’re going to the party together.”

Priscilla made a face and Reginald looked up to the sky with an eye roll and shook his head. ”It’s nothing like that. We’re just really close friends.” She held her hands up and stepped back a little bit. ”I did not say anything. But I am going by my lonesome so the attention can be on me whenever I enter the premises.” She took a breath and did not even Reginald the time to respond just as she continued. ”What does that one song say? The party doesn’t start until I walk in? And that’s exactly my mood right now.” She waved her little fingers toward him before she turned heel and started her walk toward the party.

He just watched her for a few moments then turned around and started to walk toward the meeting spot again, which he was near and had finally made it there but there was no Elijah. ”What the hell, Eli?” Reginald muttered to himself as he pulled the sleeve up that was covering his watch just a little to check the time. His hands suddenly slithered their way inside of his pants pockets then began to pace while he waited, a tune of sorts escaping over his parted lips.

Elijah hummed his way across the bedroom floor, his eyes scanning every inch of it as he did. He could have sworn he’d heard the bracelet hit the ground and fall under the bed. Yet, when he checked there was no sign of it. The siren’s eyes glanced over every spot he’d been standing at until finally, something black and silver caught his attention. ”Gotcha!” He picked the item up, slipping it onto his wrist with his slender fingers, and checked himself in the mirror one last time. His ash blonde locks contrasted greatly against his tanned skin, which was always adorned with a soft glow around this time of the day. His outfit was simple, yet it was more than enough to get him noticed.

If he had to bed honest, when the idea of this party was first announced, Elijah didn’t care for it. For one, he’d never been much of a partier. He much preferred spending his free night's binge-watching dramas or paying the ocean a visit. Aside from that, there would be humans present at this event. It’s no secret that Eli had his mild dislike for them. Nothing that would drive him to do anything drastic, at least not for the time being, but definitely enough to not want to spend more time than necessary around them. Yet, here he was, dressed to impress for a party he told himself he wasn’t going to go to. ”The things I do for you, Reg…” he muttered with a cinematically dramatic sigh. There were few people in this world that Eli would do favors for, and very, very few people that could convince him to do something he didn’t want to do. Reginald just so happened to be all of the above. At times, Elijah didn’t think much of it. And then there were times like these where he wondered what the hell he was actually doing. Sure, Reggie was one of his best friends, but somehow it sometimes felt different. A feeling that Eli wasn’t quite sure he liked.

Looking at the time on the alarm clock, he muttered a quick ”Oops!” after realizing he was late yet again and was out the door within seconds. It didn’t take long for him to reach the spot he and Reggie had agreed on, and his lips automatically formed into a grin when the werewolf spotted him. ”Sorry?’ was all he said, accompanied by one of his most charming smiles. He was only about twenty minutes late. Surely, he could talk his way out of it.

Reginald's ears heard Elijah’s footsteps before he was even close to him. He turned to face the siren now, a smile that almost matched his own. His eyes glanced briefly at Elijah then secured his gaze with Elijah’s just so he can respond to him directly. ”No need to be sorry, you brat.” Reginald joked toward him then admired his attire with his eyes again. ”Wow. You look really amazing.” He had complimented then leaned in a bit closer to him, brow raised slightly. ”Trying to impress someone tonight?” His words dripped from his lips like sweet honey, hoping that Elijah would be the bee and swarm right into his words.

It had fallen silent for just a moment until Reginald cleared his throat and looked around. ”So, shall we go ahead and make our way to the party?” He asked and would not move until Elijah was ready. ”Or did you have something else in mind?” Reginald asked again in a honey-like tone, biting on his bottom lip just a tad bit. Something was going on between them though Reginald wasn’t quite sure how Elijah felt about it. What they had was good for right now. He certainly did not want to mess that up with Elijah though.

For what it’s worth, Elijah has never shied away from flirting. It’s almost second nature to him. And yet, he’s never been able to flirt with Reggie. Eli chalked it up to the “brotherly bond” they supposedly have and don’t you try telling him otherwise. Even if Reginald’s words made his heart skip a beat or two. ”Cut it out.” he protested, gently smacking Reggie’s chest with the back of his hand. ”Cut what out?” Reginald asked innocently, which was unnatural for him and something that only Eli could bring out of him. He usually hated this feeling but around Eli, it just felt a bit too right. Eli reached up for a moment to straighten Reginald’s shirt before gripping onto his arms, swirling him around in the direction of the party and nudging him forward. ”You made me dress up and sacrifice my afternoon swim for this party, so we are going.” he stated matter-of-factly. Elijah had never tried to hide the fact that his attending the event was purely for Reggie’s sake, even if he told himself he had other reasons for going. None that he could come up with off the top of his head, but surely there had to be something.

His eyes glanced down at Eli’s hands as they were adjusting his shirt back to its straightened alignment. He barely budged whenever Eli pushed him and could not help himself to let out a small laugh at his attempt. ”By the way” Elijah half-muttered as the two walked towards to party. ”You don’t look so bad yourself.”

”Now, you cut it out. Also, I did not make you do anything you didn’t want to do yourself.” Reginald mocked Eli slightly then walked side by side with him. ”You know that you look better than me anyway, too.” He spoke just as they were almost there but Reginald stopped and placed his hand onto Eli’s chest to stop him, as well. ”So, how do you feel about the humans attending here?” He asked him in a realness tone because he really wanted to know how Elijah felt about it. It was no secret that they were going to be at this little party so before Reginald was to show his ass and anger on a human in front of him, he wanted to get Eli’s thoughts on the matter. His hand would remove from his chest and make its way back into his pants pocket.

Eli pressed his lips into a thin line, reviewing Reggie’s question. How did he feel about it? The question here was, why did it matter to Reginald? He’d normally just do whatever he wants regardless of what others think about it. Still, it was nice to be asked. ”Eh.” was all Elijah said, couples with a slight shrug. His dark eyes examined Reginald for a moment before pointing a warning finger in his direction. ”Better behave yourself.” he warned. ”I mean it!!”. Eli wasn’t sure what Reggie planned on doing with all those humans around, but he thought it best to warn him beforehand. With that, he extended a hand out for him with a slight nod towards the thumping music. ”come on.”

Eh? That was all? Just eh? Elijah’s lucky that he likes him or else he’d probably have him in a chokehold and demand a different response. Eli’s finger is pointed directly at him and it felt a bit weird. It was usually a teacher or someone that he despised pointing a finger in a warning manner at him and it usually sent him on the defense but not this time. Gosh, why was Eli so freaking cute in his eyes? Reginald’s eyes went down to the finger and he playfully made a bite expression toward it then adjusted his gaze back up toward Eli with a smile. ”Okay, mom. I wasn’t planning on doing anything anyway.” Reginald muttered in response then turned around to mutter to himself. ”Not unless they make the first move.” His attention then went toward the extended hand of Eli’s then back up at him right before he grasped it. A spark shot up Reginald’s spine though he did not react unless Elijah did the same. ”Uhh.. Yeah, come on.” He muttered as they walked fully inside of the party scene now and Reginald bobbed his head to the music. ”So, what would you like to do first, Eli?” Reginald’s eyes flashed toward him briefly to see what his response was going to be. He’d be happy doing anything as long as Elijah was beside him anyway. In case you did not notice, yes, they’re still holding hands with one another.

The smaller boy hummed slightly, bringing a finger to his lip as if he were in deep thought, before leaning close enough to Reginald for him to not have to yell over the music. ”Actually I’m feeling kind of drained.” he said, feigning exhaustion as he leaned his head against Reggie’s shoulder. ”I think I’m going to get my daily dose of human energy.” At this point, Reginald knew Eli enough to know that “getting human energy” meant flirting with an innocent human and feeding off of their attention. Not that Elijah truly needed it, at least not right that moment. It was more so said to mess with Reggie and boy did he love doing that. Eli then spotted Priscilla a few feet away from them and noticed a couple more familiar faces in the mix of it all. Maybe this party wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Reginald eyed Elijah after his response with a raised brow. His hand clutching Elijah’s a bit tighter, but not too tight, as he leaned in and breathed on Elijah’s ear before parting his lips to give a response of his own. ”Okay. Just find me later because you’re dancing with me tonight.” He had muttered in a dominant tone then raised Eli’s hand up to his lips, placing a small kiss upon it and offered the fellow before him a wink and bit down seductively on his bottom lip. It was a fun night, or it supposed to be and Reginald wanted Elijah to have at least a little fun. His hand slithered away from Eli’s and he felt empty for the moment. His hands went back down to their usual spot in his pants pockets while he turned his head to stare at Elijah. A smile formed between his lips as he just walked away to see who he could bump into or mess with for the moment. Reginald also just wanted to see what they had going on around the area.

A party for both humans and supernaturals...somehow the idea didn’t sound so great. Sure, Anabelle had been brave when she decided to enroll in this school, but that was an instance in which her curiosity got the best of her. Actually being here, surrounded by so many different species that could easily crush her? That was a whole other ball game. Belle couldn’t help but pace for a bit, wondering if going to this thing was truly a good choice for her. Her small frame was almost shaking with the amount of nerves that had taken over her body. She paused for a moment, taking in a deep breath, and pulled out her phone. Before showing up at this thing, maybe she should make sure she would have some human company to at the very least keep her feeling a bit more safe. She navigated first to Henry’s name, sending him a quick ”I’m headed to the party, please tell me you’re going. and immediately after, sent the same message to Lorelai. She may not have known either of them for long, but could already call them both a good friend.

With another nervous breath, and a quick ruffle of her curls, she walked towards the thump of the music. The scene hit her the second she walked in, if only because it wasn’t anything like what she’d expected to see. Save a few tails, wings and horns, everything looked so...normal. Though her peace didn’t last very long. ”You came alone?”. Belle nearly jumped out of her own skin, immediately recognizing the face in front of her. ”I-I, uh…”. Well shit… Belle had only spoken to Elijah once or twice before, but that coupled with the rumors she’d heard about him was more than enough to make her hairs stand on end. ”Relax, I don’t bite...much” the male gave her a smile so beautiful it took her a moment before she was able to look away. She cleared her throat nervously. ”No, i mean- I’m not alone I’m just...waiting for someone/” she stammered, hoping to god that any someone would show up and save her.

Before she made her entrance fully into the party, she had stopped by the bathroom, just to freshen up and to make sure that she looked her best. She fluffed her hair out with her fingers then dabbed some shiny glittery lip gloss onto her lips then puckered them together as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. Priscilla dropped the lip gloss back into her small handheld purse, which she also held in her hands now. She was good to go and she exited the bathroom she was currently in before bouncing her way to the party now.

Priscilla stood at the entrance, eyes scanning the scene for the moment before she finally took a step. Humans and supernaturals alike surrounded around the scene and her eyes seen Reginald and Elijah breaking a part. She smiled widely before she continued her trek around the party, just to see how everyone was mingling this far.

Then her ears vibrated as Elijah’s voice crept closely by her and her gaze immediately went over there toward where he was. His words toward her made her make a face as she walked with a bit of purpose over there toward the duo. When she reached the side of Anabelle, her arm draped over her shoulders and gaze were locked upon her. ”Everything okay here, Anabelle?” She’d ask then bounced her gaze toward Elijah.

”Oh, I think I seen Reggie flirting with a human somewhere over there. You probably should keep him on a leash.” Priscilla stated but Elijah would know that she was merely joking as a small smirk began to form over her lips.

Anabelle felt her muscles relax as Priscilla come into view and gave her a thankful smile. ”Haha, hilarious.” the boy responded, lips still morphed into a half smile dripping with sarcasm, before glancing in Anabelle’s direction. ”I was just saying hello, no need to get all defensive.” Priscilla eyed Elijah after that comment then practically shooed him away with her purse. There was no need for her to respond to that. Anabelle found herself nervously biting at the tip of her thumb, but she couldn’t help but think Elijah was right. He hadn’t actually done or say anything wrong, it was just the mere sight of him that intimidated her.

The moment he left to join the rest of the party, Belle let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding before turning towards Priscilla with a thankful smile. ”Hey!” she exclaimed happily as she looked over Prissy’s attire. ”You look so pretty!” she decided to let the subject of Elijah slide because a part of her said she had no real reason to be so scared of him, and that she was simply being paranoid. She hoped Pri would also let it go. ”Oh, this old thing?” Which her outfit wasn’t really old, it was new and brought especially for this party. She laughed and waved her hand at Anabelle then maneuvered her arm from around her shoulder to stand before her.

”But look at you, girl.” She said in response then eyed her attire before her gaze went back to her face. ”You look amazing.” Priscilla said in a compliment then eyed everyone else that was surrounding him. ”Everyone here looks amazing.” She smiled brightly and widely then pointed at a random guy. ”Well, except for him.” She then turned back toward Anabelle and went back by her side, leaning in closer toward her while folding her arms over her chest. ”So, I know that you haven’t been here long but do you have your eye on someone already?” She’d ask with a little smile.

Belle wasn’t sure what to make of Priscilla’s question. She bit the side of her lip, racking her brain for what to respond. ”Uh, no, not really…” she mumbled, her eyes searching the premises. Though that wasn’t a lie, it wasn’t entirely true either. Belle had met many people, most of them pleasant, since the first day she arrived. She paused for a moment before turning to Priscilla with a slight shrug. ”Milo is kind of cute…” she added with a slight smile. ”And by cute I mean he doesn’t scare me like Elijah does.” she giggled soft, wrapping her arms around herself.

That’s no fun. Priscilla thought to herself after Anabelle’s response. Then we were getting somewhere as she said a name. Priscilla almost lit up with excitement as she nudged Anabelle with her elbow softly with a smile. ”Ooh, Milo, huh? He’s a sweet boy. Kind of quiet but sweet.” Priscilla added then waved her hand in the direction of Elijah’s, who had walked away just a few moments ago. ”Don’t worry about him. He’s not that scary. He’s actually a sweetheart, himself so no need to worry yourself.” She remarked before linking her arm with Anabelle’s. ”Come, let’s go get some food and something to drink. I am starved.” Priscilla said as she already started a trek toward the condiment section of the party.

For a fraction of a second, Anabelle regretted her statement. It almost sounded as if she admitted to having a crush, but that wasn’t the case. At least, not at the moment. She just happened to find Milo extremely easy to talk to despite his being a supernatural. ”A sweetheart, huh?” Belle muttered, not entirely sure if she believed her. To Priscilla, just about anyone was a sweetheart. ”Yes, a sweetheart.” While she did like to see the good in everyone, there were few that she knew that was well over the deep end and far from being good. She followed the girl towards the food, her eyes scanning the area for any other familiar faces. Granted, she didn’t know many people at this point but there had to be at least a couple. From a distance, she spotted Oleander near one of the booths, and smiled softly. The two had hit it off from the first day they met, which wasn’t much of a surprise considering the two had very similar personalities. But unlike her, Ollie was much more brave. ”What about you, hmm?” Belle finally inquired, one eyebrow raising in question as she turned towards the blonde. ”Who’s your target for tonight?”

They had made it to the condiment stand and she released her arm from Anabelle’s then picked up a small plate, already placing food onto it. She paid no attention to Anabelle right now as she shoved a finger sandwich into her mouth and then another one. Priscilla nearly choked at Anabelle’s inquired questions as her eyes went right over toward the female beside her. ”Uhh, no. No one catches my eye here.” Whether it was true or not, she hid it really well in such a vague response. Priscilla kept on grabbing food then looked over toward Anabelle again. ”Are you going to get some food?” She’d ask, trying to avoid being asked anything else for the moment and just to change the subject. But in order to actually change it, she just needed a topic to come up with but mind was currently drawing blanks as she fixed herself a cup of punch now. Anabelle was no expert, but it was obvious that Priscilla was trying to hide, or avoid, something. Or someone? Belle couldn’t tell for sure, and she didn’t want to pry. At least not in the middle of the party. She opted to not say anything else about it for the time being, but made a mental note to ask her again later. ”Are they any good?” she questioned, referring to the sandwiches Pris had devoured. The party scene was stat to pick up bit by bit as more and more students flooded the area. So far, nothing too wild had happened. Everyone appeared to be in a good mood, which made Belle think she’d been worrying for no reason.

It had made her slightly curious as why Anabelle wasn’t exactly prying but then again, maybe she wasn’t the one to pry. Priscilla sighed softly to herself and under her breath as she snapped out of it once Anabelle spoke again. ”Yeah, they are. Here, try one.” She said as she practically shoved a finger sandwich into her face with a smile to seem a bit innocent in the moment. But she sensed that Anabelle knew that something was up so she just muttered softly for only Anabelle to hear. ”We can talk later about why I avoided your question. I do not want to speak about here just in case someone’s listening.” Priscilla commented as she brought the finger sandwich down and started to pick at it with her head lowered. Belle smiled softly, chewing on the small sandwich that had been shoved in her direction. ”Deal”.

Partying with supernaturals was not something Henry entirely thought he'd end up doing, or at the very least, having the pleasure of attending alone. Only fifteen minutes in, he was disappointedly ditched by his own brother; something about a friend needing him-- blah blah blah. Sure, he loved the supes just fine. They were a joy and a majority of them were great people, but going solo to his first school event left him vulnerable and that was not something he planned on happening. So he filled the beginning half of his time with the monotony of carnival games, only to cheer for himself whenever he managed to hit a goal. There was something therapeutic about the lights that framed the booths, shooting off pistols and flashing bulbs whenever one of the targets were hit. Between the whirring sounds, he could briefly catch the criticizing chit-chat from the neighbouring booth, perhaps the games were a little pathetic.

But there's always fun in a bit of stupidity.

p o p. cheers, another balloon.

Henry's phone buzzed, half expecting it to be a lukewarm apology from his brother, so he ignored it. Afterall he was starting to have a little bit of fun by himself. After a few more off-n-on wins, he pulled himself to the side to check the message, surprised to see the text was instead from Anabelle. 'I’m headed to the party, please tell me you’re going.' He felt a little guilty now.. It seemed more like a plead for help then then it did an invitation, but he was sure she was just nervous and rightfully so. To be outnumbered by beings far stronger than you, and at times, far more clever, was intimidating to say the least. For a human with minimum interactions, it's a world of possibilities. Good, and bad.

He quickly typed back, 'nah, I think I'm going to pass tonight.' before sending her a bad selfie of him posing in front of the large caricature of a minotaur. He hoped she was alright, overwise that was really some bad timing for a joke. 'Where are u? maybe we can meet up.' At least then, he can say he tried.

Henry figured while he waited for Belle's response, he might as well get something to eat. It didn't take long for him to locate the destination of nosh-town ad he spotted a small crowd that seemed to migrate around the food tables. I guess the idea was a popular one. After all, sustenance seemed like the bare minimum of what supernaturals and humans shared. It was at least a start... He stepped on his toes to look over the figures in front of him, eyeing the strange arrangement of food splayed on the table. He couldn't recognize half the stuff, or if he did, me much rather had not. Perhaps there was a part of the table that was labeled, 'human friendly', he certainly wouldn't mind that kind of separation.

Milo Tanan was late, and it was due, mostly, to the fact that he had lost his clothes. It wasn't entirely his fault, really. He was so sure he'd dragged them into their usual spot behind the school's green house. They were safe from rain, animals and humans there. Usually. He'd expected to find them where he had left them, but as he had padded through the long grass - in the form of a small, black cat - he had found his usual spot empty. Which left him in a real predicament, given that when he shifted back into his human form, he would be naked. Sadly, he couldn't shift into an animal with his clothes still attached. They remained human size, falling to the ground when he shifted into a smaller form, or tearing if he turned larger. All well and fine when he could usually hide them and return to them later.

Milo's first thought ran to his brothers, who used to prank him by hiding his clothes whenever he shifted. He had also done his fair share of clothes hiding, and then waited and laughed his ass off as a brother would run through the house naked and crying revenge. But, none of his brothers remained at Thorn Hill, so they were out of the question.

His ears pricked up at the sounds from the party, his hearing much more acute in this form than his human. He was missing out. With an annoyed swish of his tail, Milo gave an exasperated snort before his body began to mutate. Claws turned to finger nails, fur turned to light brown skin and curling, dark hair, and whiskers disappeared as he returned to his native body. Crouched in human form, Milo had a much better view of the area and was easily able to see the scattering trail of his clothes that he had missed as a cat. Had the wind moved them? Or...

A flutter of wings caught his attention and he scowled at the magpie now perched on the edge of the greenhouse. "It was you!" He scowled, crawling forward to grab at his clothes before the bird could swoop down to steal them again. This wasn't another shapeshifter, but a pesky bird that Milo was sure had it out for him all because he had accidentally almost pounced on it as a cat years ago. He flapped his hand at the bird as it cawed at him again, ignoring the laughing magpie in favour of quickly dressing in his clothes. Wiping grass from his jeans (and failing to notice the odd leaf sticking out of his hair), Milo gave the magpie a last look before heading off towards the party. He'd make a note to make something bird-proof to store his clothes in next time.

The sounds got louder as he drifted closer, as well as the smell of food. Milo felt his stomach grumble, always a side effect of shifting. He directed his path towards the food, letting his nose lead him. The table was crowded, but Milo slipped in under a pair of ravenous werewolves. Rather than take the almost-raw slabs of meat they were devouring, he grabbed something more digestible - a hotdog - and took a big bite. It was then he noticed the human straining over the hordes of supernaturals looking to fill their stomach. Grabbing another hotdog, Milo squeezed back through the crowd and ducked around until he could tap Henry on his shoulder,

"Hey! Want one?" He asks, offering the second hot dog to Henry. "Or I can help you find something else if you want?"

'Dunk the mermaid' had never seemed like an appealing game, given it's name, until Sage Meers had discovered which mermaid would be acting the sacrificial lamb. She could only smirk as she came to a stop in front of the small tank of water, eyes taking in the silver tail and wet hair of an ex-fling, Matteo Trilano. Normally one to carefully manage his looks, Matteo had now obviously been dunked in the tank of water often enough that any attempt to right his brown curls would be in vain. Someone had even found a comical coconut bra for Matteo to wear. Though the coconut didn't cover his abs, it did help to reduce any ounce of 'coolness' he might have been trying to hold onto.

"Having fun, Teo?" Sage asked, shaking her head at the student manning the stall. Sage wasn't here to compete, just to taunt. "You look like you've had better days... you're also one dunk away from a nip-slip, I'd say"

Matteo pulled up his coconut bra tighter, covering the offending body part and attempted to push back his drenched hair. "I still fill this out better than you, honey." Came his retort, though the words were slightly flat given the falseness of his claims.

"If you say so..." Sage merely replied, raising her brows in amusement. She noted a small group of fae girls twittering forward, money at the ready to purchase a number of coconuts to throw at the target that would dunk Matteo. With another smirk, Sage took a step back, "Your fans await.." She could only hope the fae girls missed the target and hit Matteo instead.

Sage turned her attention to other things, namely avoiding the influx of humans roaming the party grounds, and attempting to find any of the people she deemed a worthwhile friend. Why the humans had been allowed in was beyond her. Surely having the pick of schools outside Thorn Hill was not enough for the greedy beings, now they had to invade one of the few safe places for the supernatural.

Despite having some questionable guests, Sage had to say that the event was a fun one. She thought she heard the voice of her favourite siren, though she couldn't spot him through the crowd. And perhaps there was a flash of red hair from the food that could have been Thorn Hill's fiercest vampire, but she couldn't be sure. Rather than seek out her friends, Sage was content to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. She really didn't want to push through crowds of supernaturals.

Stopping by a stall offering balls of pixie light, the kind that changed colour and shape with your mood, Sage took the toy and found a seat overlooking the dancing. She would wave to any friend looking lost, and otherwise just enjoy the atmosphere.

In spite of how much he did not want to come to this party, Elijah all but forced himself to have a good time. After parting ways with Reggie, he felt himself ease back into what he liked to call his default setting. A scheming flirt. The place was crawling with both humans and supernaturals alike. So many potential victims, so little time. However, Eli hadn't come to hunt. At least not this time. Though he had spent a decent amount of time chatting it up with an innocent little fairy, he eventually let the poor thing go and weaved his way through the crowd. At a distance, he could see several familiar faces huddling over by the food and drinks. Priscilla had obviously made it her mission to protect Anabelle. From what, Elijah wasn't entirely sure, but the Banshee had taken the girl under her wing, which meant he wouldn't be spending much time around his friend tonight. Not that the siren had anything against Belle, particularly. She was just...a normal human, and that was precisely the problem.

There were very few of that species that Eli found even remotely interesting, and one of them happened to also be by the food table accompanied by his favorite shapeshifter. Eli's destinations had already been set after having spotted both Sage and Oleander from far away but decided to make a quick pit stop first. He carefully worked his way through the crowd, pausing a couple of times to say hello, before reaching the tables of assorted foods and drinks. "Well don't you boys look handsome tonight. I mean, more so than usual" He flashed them both a solid smile, before reaching over and taking a bottle of sparkling water. He wasn't exactly dehydrated, but it had been a while since he'd gone for a deep ocean swim. Sparkling bottled water was the closest he could manage at the moment. As far as Milo and Henry went, Eli couldn't exactly say he was close to either of them, especially Henry whom he'd known all of one week. But he rather liked them both. Despite Henry being human, Eli came to like him within their first conversation, though he honestly expected the guy to keep his distance from the siren just as all the other humans he'd met seemed to be doing. And Milo, who still seemed to feel uneasy anytime Elijah came around, despite Eli's best efforts to not intimidate him somehow always managed to bring out the good in Eli. Whatever that may be. "Hope you can bot save me a dance for later." he added, gently placing a hand on Milo's shoulder, before turning on his heels and leaving them to their business.

He walked closer to the dance floor, immediately spotting Sage comfortably seated with some form of pixie toy in hand. "Enjoying the view?" he questioned as he walked up, taking a seat beside her. It had been a while since the mermaid and siren had a chance to catch up. Granted, anytime they ran into one another they spent it bickering and throwing playful insults, but Eli considered Sage somewhat of a sister figure. So, though it was rare, every once in a while he genuinely wondered about her day and how she'd been doing.

The thumping music coming from the makeshift carnival would've been enough to send Levi in the other direction any other day. He despised events like these, large groups of people mingling and doing idiotic activities in all. If it wasn't for a certain vampire, he wouldn't have been caught attending. Evona would talk his ear off about the activities and then complain that he didn't come the next day. He came for only that reason and prayed to whatever entity that some of the bothersome humans would come near him.

Levi used his speed to move through the crowd, not wanting to have to touch anyone around. Thankfully, snacks and drinks were provided, along with his favorite: O+. He filled the red solo cup to the brim before chugging half of it. 'Better to be full before the mortals show up.' He thought. Levi noticed a younger student, not human (maybe a witch), and she stared at him with fear in her eyes. It took a second for his fangs to elongate and his eyes to turn ruby red. Levi hissed at her and she scurried away, a look of horror clear on her face. Levi laughed to himself as he changed back to normal.

With a turn of his head, he noticed his favorite, debatable, vampire nearby. Evona was alone which was odd for the normally outgoing girl. Levi wasn't sure if he was in the right space to deal her antics, but catching her now was best. No doubt she'd be surrounded by people later and he wasn't going to fight a crowd to get to her. He did notice his fishy... friends? not too far away, but decided to go ahead and check in with the older vampire. He filled up his cup before speeding next to her, appearing very suddenly. "I'm here. I hope you're happy." Levi said with little emotion. He nodded to Sage and Elijah, noting they noticed his arrival.

~

Events like these were typically Lorelai's favorite thing. She loved school carnivals, finding it to be a great way to spend time with friends and meet new people. Currently, she's wondering around looking for a familiar or friendly face. She was supposed to meet up with some of her fellow humans and they would go as a group, safety in numbers you know. Lorelai loved people, but it was, still, difficult for her to wrap her head around supernatural creatures being people. They were, but they also were not. It was too complicated for her so she ignored the thought in favor of looking around.

Plenty of fun carnival games were going on around her with a twist. The Bobbing for Apples booth looked like fun until she saw a vampire catch it by the fangs. 'Not looking so good now.' She decided, moving away from the game.

The whole being alone thing was not working anymore. She hadn't caught sight of Andy or Auggie, who she probably should've walked over with. Lorelai noticed Annabelle and she was with one of the witches at school, Priscilla if she remembers right. She was in no way mean, but some kind of competition was established between them. She seemed to like attention as much as Lorelai herself. Not that she would be opposed to being near them, but Henry and Milo?, something with an M, were nearby too. Henry was one of the more easy going with the supernaturals and Milo seemed nice, shy but Lorelai can work with that. Lorelai puts on her megawatt smile, head high and walked confidently over to the pair. "Care if I join you?" Not like they could get rid of her either.

Reggie wandered around the party for a brief moment, just checking a few things out and wondering to himself if he really wanted to dunk the mermaid or not. It would’ve gave him quite the laugh though but he decided against it. His gaze would bounce toward Priscilla, Anabelle and his future babe, Elijah and raise a brow. It seems like Elijah caused quite a stir and they haven’t been for an hour yet. He snickered as he walked over toward the concessions, his eyes scanned over the treats on the table.

He did not know what he wanted, right now because everything looked so freaking delicious so he just settled on a small cup full of punch. Once he had fixed himself a cup, he turned his attention back toward the party and took a small sip from the cup. It now rested in his hand and he kind of wanted to socialize with a human but which one? Again, his eyes went from person to person as it seemed like no one was interesting enough. There was Lorelai but she was already engaged in conversation.

Reginald picked up his feet and started to patrol around the party, nearing toward the entrance and just stood there, with one hand in his pocket and the other with the punch cup in it.

- - -

Auggie knew with certainty that he did not want to go to this party. Small groups caused him to get nervous so who knows what such a large gathering of people would do to him, however, after constant pestering from his more outgoing friends, the boy conceded. As he walked along the school grounds, Auggie could hear laughter and music emanating from where the event was being held; almost feeling a sense of excitement until he cleared the trees and realised just how many people were there.

Letting a small sigh escape his lips, Auggie shoves his hands into his trouser pockets and bites the bullet, walking straight into the thick of the party. All around him were every kind of supernatural creature you could imagine, causing him to stand still for a moment in wonder, sure he was used to being surrounded by witches back in his hometown but that was about the extent of supernatural contact he has had until arriving at Thorn Hill.

Caught off guard by just how loud the event seemed to be, Auggie didn’t notice that he was walking straight toward Reggie until it was far too late. Bumping into the back of the werewolf, Auggie inhales sharply, realising what he had done. Sure, he was friendly enough with Reggie, but he also knew that the werewolf was holding him at arm's length until he knew Auggie was trustworthy and the slightest thing was enough to piss him off. “Oh!” Auggie exclaims, taking a large step back from him, “I-I’m so sorry, I got overwhelmed and I-” Struggling to find his words, Auggie cuts himself off and instead sends Reggie a sheepish smile as if to say - please don’t eat me.

Reggie was just enjoying himself, head nodding to the ongoing music that blared around him. He went to take a small sip from his punch until he was lounged forward a bit after someone had bumped into him from behind. He had even spilled a little bit of punch on the floor in front of him. Reginald’s head snapped back toward the boy and lowly growled He really just wanted to scare him and wasn’t going to harm him in the slightest but found it fun to watch him tremble. He had to have some form of amusement tonight and Auggie provided that for the moment.

“Relax. I am not going to rip your head off in front of witnesses.” He said with a smile then turned it into an expression that made him look like he was really going to eat him. He took a few steps until he was closer to the male and whispered lowly. “But when there aren’t any witnesses, your ass is grass.” Reginald was loving this moment as he was merely toying with the poor boy. But he wasn’t going to tell him that, not now anyway.

Feeling a momentary sense of relief, Auggie relaxes at Reggie’s first sentence, before immediately stiffening again as the larger male came closer. Barely holding in a terrified squeak at his next words, Auggie freezes in place, his eyes widening. “I’m seriously so s-sorry,” Auggie forces out, once again moving back away from Reggie, his eyes planted firmly on the ground as he spoke, “Here, let me get you another drink!” Hoping to fix the situation in any way possible, Auggie looks around for the punch table, grabbing a new cup and filling it before extending a shaky hand toward Reggie. “Is, Is this ok?” No one else at Thorn Hill seemed to be able to rattle Auggie quite like Reggie did.

Reginald did not really want another drink but watching Auggie tremble and shake with fear pleased him. Too bad he was enjoying this moment alone though. His eyes watched Auggie go over to the table where the punch was placed, letting out a little laugh behind his back then straightened up and plastered back on the face of fear. His eyes went from Auggie to the cup then back to Auggie before he reached out and grabbed it fiercely. ““This will do. But don’t think that this makes up for when I see you alone.” Reginald replied and took a small sip from the cup he had retrieved from Auggie.

Watching his arm shake as he waited for Reggie to take the cup - or potentially throw it back in his face - Auggie couldn’t help but inwardly scald himself over how much of a wuss he could be. Sure, anyone would find Reggie a little intimidating but Auggie’s sweet nature just couldn’t handle the werewolf’s gaze, let alone interacting with him.

““Ease up, Auggie. Damn.” Reginald finally let go of his act after seeing how terrified the male was before him. He had extended his hand out and placed it on his shoulders, smiling just a little as he hoped that would put Auggie at ease. ““I am not going to do anything to you. You’re actually one of the humans that I like.” He said before taking another sip from the cup then smirked and turned to Auggie. ““Boo!” Reginald said as he jumped forward toward Auggie then laughed afterward because he just wanted to see Auggie’s reaction.

As Reggie extended his arm out to place it on Auggie’s shoulder, the human almost jumped out of his skin. Though Reggie’s words almost put a smile on Auggie’s face, the sheer anxiety he felt in that moment halted in and just as he began to think that perhaps the werewolf was warming up to him, he was startled by another one of Reggie’s stunts. As silly as it was, even the most lighthearted of surprises caused the poor boy’s heart to beat a million miles a minute. Realising that Reggie hadn’t meant to seriously scare him, Auggie forces out a small, soft laugh as he finally lifts his gaze to meet Reggie’s.

Though they may be of the same height, Reggie’s stature was muscular and athletic, making Auggie feel even more feeble than normal in his presence. Noting no malice in Reggie’s gaze, Auggie releases some of the tension in his body as he exhales, “I really am sorry about all that,” Relieved that he was no longer stammering, Auggie continues, “How are you enjoying the party so far?” Attempting to steer the conversation off of his little accident, Auggie glances around the party for the first time since coming face to face with the werewolf, noticing many more of his friends that he had previously.

Auggie sends Priscilla and Anabelle a small smile and wave, hoping maybe they’d come over. Sure Auggie didn’t mind Reggie’s company, but he knew that if Priscilla was there at least, the werewolf would be less likely to mess with him so much and honestly, Auggie wasn’t sure his heart could handle many more jumpscares from Reggie.

“It’s okay, Auggie. Relax a little.” Reginald replied toward the human boy and slapped him on the shoulder, forgetting his strength for the moment. The party wasn’t what he had expected, to be honest but guess because of the humans that were around. Before he answered his question though, he gave his shoulders a shrug and stared at Auggie. “I mean, it’s all right, I guess. I had hoped for something a bit better.” Reggie replied as his eyes wandered around the party again. “What about you, Auggie?” He’d ask then take a sip from his cup. “Enjoying Thorn Hill, so far?” He was quite intrigued to hear his response because he really did want to know how did most humans feel around supernaturals.

Auggie nods along as Reggie speaks, his eyes grazing their surroundings, “I mean,” Auggie swallows nervously, turning his gaze back to Reggie, “I’m not really very good with parties, I tend to prefer smaller groups.” Being surprisingly honest with the werewolf, Auggie fiddles with his hands, clearly uncomfortable with being in such a big and loud place. However, Reggie’s second question received a much more upbeat answer as the first proper smile of the night graces Auggie’s face. “I may not seem like it, but I love it here, back home -” Auggie sighs, his thoughts turning to that of his father, “Is it odd of me to say I feel like I fit in here better than I ever did back home?” Though he knew he was no supernatural, everyone at Thorn Hill seemed to embrace the weird and unusual, rather than reject it as his father did.

“Let’s walk a bit.” Reggie said. “Standing in this one spot makes me uncomfortable.” He had mentioned before picking up his feet to walk a few paces forward, hoping that Auggie knew to trail behind him and could keep up with Reggie’s fast walking pace.

Quickening his natural pace so that he could keep up with Reggie’s swiftness, Auggie follows along, taking in all of the stalls as they pass. The scent of lavender finds its way to Auggie and, almost forgetting himself, he places a hand on Reggie’s arm as if to stop him. Peering at the stall before him, there is a giant array of incense on the wooden table, with a lavender and frank incense stick burning slowly. The witch seated behind smiles at Auggie, gesturing for him to take a pack. “To calm and heal.” She says simply, turning to look at Reggie, “Here.” picking up a pack of cinnamon incense sticks and extending them out to him, “For peace and joy.”

Auggie loved all manner of incense and candles; anything with a soothing scent and he was sold. Looking over at Reggie with a hopeful smile, he glances down at the witch’s outstretched hand as if to say - please take them. Though he has never been religious, spirituality meant a lot to Auggie’s mother and he knew that if the witch wanted Reggie to have them, they would be good for the werewolf.

Reginald eyes looked at the witch with a raised brow, wondering to himself why exactly he got the peace and joy incense. It was whatever though as he took them with a smile and saluted with them as a sign of thanks. “Come on, Auggie. She gives me the heebie-jeebies.” He whispered then sat down his punch cup, wrapping his muscular arm around Auggie’s shoulders and started to walk, practically dragging Auggie along with him.

Andy was nervous to say the very least. Sure he had been attending the Academy for at least a week but this was the first real opportunity he had to interact with the supernaturals on his own accord. Although he never truly had an issue when it came to getting along with others, he knew that the supernaturals probably wouldn't place him in good light if they knew anything about his father. Which is why he tried incredibly hard to keep anyone from figuring that out. His father had been in constant contact with him every since Andrew started, asking him a multitude of questions that made Andrew increasingly suspicious of his father's intentions. Which is why he tried incredibly hard to be as vague as possible when it came to answering them.

'What's the school like? Classes? How many types of Supernaturals are there? Is there any-"

'I don't know dad! I don't know, it's just different ok? I gotta go.'

His eyes briefly scanned the crowd, and instantly lit up when he saw the back of Lorelai making her way over to Henry - and someone else? He didn't recognize the other boy. But if Henry seemed comfortable around him then Andy trusted whoever it was. He strode up behind Lorelai placing a gentle hand on her shoulder, his eyes meeting Henry's in a rather charming smile. He was definitely trying to mask his nerves. "Hey guys - I hope I haven't missed anything too interesting" His glaze flicked over to the food table briefly. "Anyone gotta feeling that they're trying to confuse us on purpose? I mean I really can't tell if I'm going to bit into a mini hotdog or and actual finger" He shivered slightly at the gross thought.

His eyes then landed on the other boy, the one that he didn't recognize. However, at a closer glance the boy's dark, gentle eyes seemed all too familiar. "Do- do I know you?"

Oleander had gone through his fair share of the small Carnival games that had been set up. He was now up to his nose in corny stuffed animals and inflatables. You could barely see the fae, with the amount of prizes covering him. It was quite a comical sight, but completely normal to those who knew him.

Ramona had been uncharacteristically late to the party. For one, her "get-ready" spell that she had been practicing ended up with a horrific curl disaster that took nearly forty-five minutes to brush out of her hair. When she finally managed to rush her way out of the dormitories she saw the Carnival had already picked up speed, recognizing a couple of her friends. One of which, who was completely hidden behind a giant mountain of prizes. She clapped her hand over her mouth to stop the fit of giggles as she approached him.

"Need any help with that Ollie?"

A small, gentle voice came from in front of him, along with a small flurry of giggles. He could only see glimpses of wispy blonde hair between the cracks, but he knew instantly who it belonged to. "That would be great Rae, I really didn't think this over. They're addicting you know, once you have your hands on one teddy... you just want them all". He shuffled closer to the witch trying not to topple the tower of stuffed animals. "If you could just, grab the two off the top I think I can manage the rest".

She had a glimmer in her eye, that he clearly could not see, which was probably a good thing. "No- wait. Just stay still, I have a better idea". Oleander cleared his throat nervously, "Uh, Ramona while I completely respect you as a witch I would really appreciate not being blasted to the moon".

Ramona rolled her eyes, and held her hands out in front of her. "Trust me, I've been practicing this for weeks. Granted, I may have not completely mastered it yet, but that's besides the point. Just stay still." She zeroed in her focus on the mountain of stuffed animals, and then thought of Oleander's room, she had been there a few times to study so she could clearly picture his brightly colored covers. She took a large intake of breath and on the exhale flicked her hands in opposite directions sharply, "Apage!"

Oleander let out a small, girlish scream as he felt a rush of powerful wind, clenching his eyes shut. When he finally managed to open them he realized the mountain of teddies had completely disappeared, and Ramona looked pleasantly surprised. "W- Where'd they go?"

Ramona smiled proudly at her work, "To your room", the proud smile faltered slightly, "I think".

Evona had just finished her drink, and was quite ready to make her way into the middle of the chaos when there was a sudden rush of wind next to her, blowing a few stray red hairs into her face. "I'm here. I hope you're happy." Levi's voice was ever so monotone tonight. She cocked her head to the side, smiling rather pleasantly at the vamp. Dressed in black, with quite possibly the most powerful 'Resting Bitch Face' she'd ever seen, the majority would have scurried away the first chance they got. But not Evona. Even though he towered over her, the small vampire stood her ground, after all she had nothing to worry about around Levi. Evona knew on the surface Lee was constantly annoyed with her (as he is with almost everyone) but she knew deep down, in that unfeeling boy he cared about her. Or she hoped.

"Happy? More like proud. You know I'm always excited when you crawl your way out of that cave to try and socialize". She nudged him teasingly in the side, "I know you deny it Lee, but maybe I am starting to rub off on you".

Her gaze drifted slightly from him back to the party, surveying the crowd. "I do know you well enough, to know there's no way you just came here to have fun. So what is it?" She raised a perfectly poised eyebrow. "I hope you don't plan on messing with those humans. Korir will have your head".

The fae was small and blonde, her brows knotted in concentration as she took aim at the target. As her dainty arm flew forward, the coconut left her grip with little urgency. The throw was a weak one, and rather off-centre, and the fairy's shoulders had already sagged in disappointment went the projectile increased speed mid-air, curving left to hit the bullseye. The merman, smirk melting to shock, plunged into the water, and as he broke the surface, his splutters were ones of indignation.

"Hey! That's cheating!"

The fairy shrugged in innocent surprise, seemingly as surprised by her success as her victim. "I- I didn't do anything! Honest!"

The merman looked ready to argue, only for his words to falter as he caught sight of a familiar witch. She met his gaze, and the faintest smile touched her lip before she continued on her way. It was all the confirmation he needed, and as he clambered back onto his seat, he muttered angrily to himself.

"Witch bitch."

Evan was, as usual, all smiles as he walked through the carnival, greeting people left and right, and generally being the social butterfly he was known to be. However, with every glimpse at an unfamiliar face, a human face, there threatened a slip. A cloud hung ominous over his features, never quite shadowing the friendliness he worked to radiate.

"Problem, Evan?"

His gaze drifted from the humans gathered at the food table, to the raven-haired witch now standing beside him. She looked up at him with a crooked brow, almost impish. His smile did slip, this time- but only temporarily, and only because he hated being read. It happened so rarely- he had yet to adapt to the consequences.

His expression brightened, beaming with faux-innocence.

"Problem? Not at all."

Ives' expression, infuriatingly, didn't falter. She'd caught the discord beneath the porcelain, as she was wont to. It was strange- they weren't related by blood, and yet they seemed connected; able to sense each other better than most.

"My mistake. Thought I caught a bit of glowering."

"It's a carnival. Glowering is seldom warranted at occasions such as these."

"But not never, right?"

A swift change of subject was common among politicians. Dodging questions, even more so. And Evan had oft been told he was born for politics.

"Have a good time at the carnival, Ives. Have a bob for apples on me."

She nodded, that infuriating smirk still caught on her lips. Turning to leave, she paused, crooning quietly over her shoulder.

"Prejudice... it's not too cute, Ev. Maybe you should hide it a bit better."

As she made her way over to the food table, Evan smiled through his urge to grimace. His gaze flickered back to the food table, and the humans, that Ives now approached, before he too turned in the opposite direction.

"Noted."
