Levi was born with a head of glistening, silver hair. Now, it is gloriously long and shines underneath any sort of light. A trait she takes after her Father for, but she inherited her Mother's piercing eyes. Her skin is pale and pearly, almost glossy. Her Mother protected her as a child from harm, not allowing any injuries to mar her body. Of course, her Mother does not know about the scar on her palm, the promise that she and Yulissa made to one another as children. Levi isn't physically strong, but she isn't overly weak either. Her Mother did not want her muscles to grow too large and limited her exercise, but allowed Levi to play games such as house or dolls. Her Mother also enforced strict portion control at meals, to make sure that Levi would be the perfect height and weight. A Princess had appearances to keep up of course, especially one that was to be the future Queen.
As for clothing, when in public, Levi was to always dress regally and have her hair and makeup done. In private, however, she wore loose shirts and and short skirts. Her Mother did not approve of her personal taste, but allowed Levi this small freedom, knowing that she had to express herself somehow. She enjoys wearing bright colors that draw the eye and imbues the fabric with magic to make moving images that danced across the seams.

❥ Music || Levi adores classical music. As a result, she has learned to play several instruments including the flute, violin, piano, and harp.
❥ Magic || While this may seem the obvious answer, Levi really does enjoy learning and practicing magic. She is rather proficient in her preferrouted magic type, but does branch out so that she could learn more.
❥ Yulissa || The sisters share an unbreakable bond. It does not matter who tries to separate them, Levi loves Yulissa dearly and knows that her sister is the only one she could trust that would never betray her.
❥ Cake || Perhaps the ultimate weakness, Levi loves sweets.

⌦ Liars || They are the worst breed of people. Liars are promise breakers, cheaters, and the scum of the world.
⌦ Being Ordered Around || Her Mother orders her around endlessly. The one part Levi looks forward to of being Queen is to never have to take an order from anyone else. Instead, she would be giving the orders.
⌦ Fighting || Levi will argue if she must, but she does not look to pick a fight. She is not a pacifist by any means, but she woudl rather use her words than her fists. Of course, her Mother never prepared her for a physical brawl.
⌦ Hexes || The most vile of all magic, Levi hates having to study hexes and curses. She does not believe it is a magic that the righteous would ever use.

Image
ⓆⓊⒾⓇⓀⓈ
Hair pulling || Levi's hair is very thin because when she gets stressed, she begins to pull on her hair. Her mother has been trying to get her to stop this horrible habit to no avail.
Playful Pout || If Levi is thinking, upset, or just fooling around, she does this adorable pout that makes all of the eligable bachlors swoon.
Attachment || They don't get to spend much time together anymore, but Levi is very attached to her twin sister. Some might think they have litermate syndrome with how close they are.

ⓌⒺⒶⓀⓃⒺⓈⓈⒺⓈ
Potions || Memorizing potions has always been hard for her,
Physical Stamina || Aside from running, Levi has absolutely no physical stamina. She cannot fight or throw a punch, but she can run.
Cake || Perhaps her one true love, Levi believes that there is nothing better than a slice of cake.
Yulissa || Levi is very attached to her sister, her partner in crime. Althea is attempting to drive a wedge between them, but Levi won't allow it. Of course, she does not know what her sister has been up to the past few months.

ⓈⓉⓇⒺⓃⒼⓉⒽⓈ
Magic || A wind sign, Levi excells at water based magic, but is proficient in other areas as well.
Leading || She is the future Queen after all, Levi has to be good at this.
Summoning || When Levi was 12 years old, she summoned her familiar in the middle of the night alongside her sister. Their pact is still marked on their hands.
Iron Will || Perhaps not an iron will, so much as being stubborn as a mule. Once Levi has her mind made up, it is very hard to change it.

ⒻⒺⒶⓇⓈ
The Dark || Ever since she was a child, Levi has feared the dark.
Fire || The Anemone Summer estate nearly burned down as a child and since then, Levi has feared fire.
Losing Yulissa || Her twin sister is one of the most important people in her life, to lose her would be devastating.

Rolling Girl always looked at unreachable dreams
Making a fuss if you got inside her head and disturbed, disturbed.

“No problem.” Was murmured, but weren’t those words lost?
Fail again, fail again.
After ending your search for mistakes, it spins again!

Once more, once more.
“I’ll also roll today,”
That girl says, that girl says,
Playing her words with meaning

“Are you better now?”
“It’s still a ways off, I still don’t see the point. I’m gonna stop my breathing, now.”

Rolling Girl is at the end of the ruins, beyond unreachable colors
Overlapping voices with voices and blending, blending.

“No problem.” Was murmured, but those words were lost.
How are you going to turn out good?
Even the hill tempting me is making mistakes now.

Once more, once more.
Somehow I’m rolling.
That girl said, That girl said
Repeating silent words with meaning

Magnolia, a Matriarichal society since its conception, was holding its annual Founders Day Ball. Althea, with a round tummy, holding the hand of her doting husband, William, made her way to sit on her throne. The picture of grace with a belly as full as the moon, Althea Anemone sat upon her throne, her water breaking that very instant. She was rushed back to the castle, but after nearly twenty hours of pushing, Althea was forced to have an induced labor. Her twin daughters were tangled around one another, their imbilical cord entangled around one another's feet. They were the only two children William and Althea cared to conceive, having wanted twins, should something ever happen to one or the other. Levi, being older by a mere five minutes, would inherit the entire Kingdom as well as the burden of the crown. It was never a choice, but something she had grown up knowing.

As a child, Althea was much more strict with Levi. Despite being older, Levi had a strict curfew and schedule that she had to follow. She was constantly scruitinized and felt as though she was living underneath a microscope. Her Mother wasn't cruel, per say, merely strict. Levi spent most all of her time with Yulissa, they were tutored together, took meals together, and shared a room. It was her only reprieve, to be with her sister, to snicker at inside jokes, and speak of the future. Although, Yulissa had the freedom to do anything she ever wanted while Levi was tied down to the throne. She envied her a bit, but Levi knew that she was born with this purpose and she had to fulfill it. After all, the people needed guidance; they needed a benevolent leader that would listen and fix things.

At five years old, Althea and William made the decision to separate the twins; knowing that they relied too much on one another. Even though their rooms were merely across from one another, it felt as though Yulissa was suddenly a thousand miles away. Levi no longer had classes with her, she was too busy to eat meals with her twin, and had very little free time. At ten years old, the burden on her shoulders was only growing heavier. Smile more, sit up straight, pay attention, don't mix those two ingredients together, smile, get your head out of the clouds. With no time to meet during the day, Levi always tried to meet with Yulissa after curfew. She would sneak into her sister's room and speak of everything that happened, wanting to hear about Yulissa's day. On the eve they were caught, the two sisters were summoning familiars, something a Queen was not supposed to have, as it would show alliance to the demons.

Refusing to dismiss her, it was the one argument that Levi had won against their Mother and Levi was allowed to keep Pen. On the evening before her sixteenth birthday, Yulissa gave Levi a present. A beautiful necklace inlaid with a pink gem, her favorite color. Levi put it on, believing it to be a harmless gift and began to feel sleepy. She has been asleep since then, the necklace cursing her with peaceful rest and good dreams.

{☛ ⓄⓉⒽⒺⓇ ☚}
Recently, Levi had noticed Yulissa distancing herself. She thought it may be something personal, so Levi did not pry. She also started becoming friends with the girl in the glass box.

|| Sister's Noise || Raina Illune ||

Three months later and there was still so much left to do. Yulissa Anemone was the new crowned Queen of Magnolia, the greatest magical realm in all the lands, and the Capital of Magic. It was a city everyone wanted to go to, it was the crowning shining star of progress and civilization. It was also rotting from within, with crime and enemies all over that needed to be weeded out. The present Levi left for her remained unopened. She didn't deserve to open it, not until she finished her job and made Magnolia the city Levi deserved to inherit. Until then, she would continue purging out the evil in the city. "There's news of another group trying to fight against you." Sylas reported, bowing to her. "You don't have to bow to me." The throne room was beautiful, full of paintings of the previous Queens and a purple carpet that lead from the marble doors to the throne made of argent.

"Where are they located?" Sylas stood up straight, producing a map. "Here, the laboratory factory on Faust Street. The demons there are trying to cause an uprising. What should we do?" The answer was obvious, wasn't it? "Perform another cleanse. Send in the Military Police to wipe them out." She narrowed her eyes, smiling a little. She always did love Sylas. He was diligent, he was strong, he was attentive and always cared for her. As a Queen she really should ask him out... but, well, was it so bad to want Sylas be the one to initiate? "Alright, I can do that. Is there anything else you want? Some more lemonade, or maybe some sweets?" Yulissa thought to herself a little. "Give me cupcakes. Just no real cakes." Cake was banned in the Palace until Levi was awake again. It was a punishment Yulissa imposed on herself to get the job done quickly.

Someone scurried then into the throne room, eyes wide, paws frantic. "Oh no! It's an emergency!" Azure yelped, trembling dangerously. "Princess Levi vanished! She disappeared and we can't find her!" What? Did someone think to remove the necklace somehow? Could it have been Pen, was Yulissa found out? "What about the magic trace I put on her!" This was always a possibility so Yulissa placed a magical trace on both Pen and Levi just in case this happened. "It was cleansed, Master! I don't know where they are!" Azure was about to cry - it was her job to make sure Levi didn't go missing but she took a cat nap and failed.

"Don't cry, it'll be okay." Sylas pat Azure, ruffling her ears and making her blush happily. Yulissa was a little jealous - it would be nice if she could be pet like that too by him. But it wouldn't be befitting of her role so she had no choice but to sit on the throne. "You did your best, you're a good girl, Azure." The cat familiar sniffled, wiggling her tail, staring at Yulissa as if asking if that could be confirmed. "Of course. You're a very good girl. Now... Sylas, I need you to call up all the alerts. The Military Police will find Levi and bring her back to me." The idea that Levi would willingly leave like this - wouldn't she at least try to confront Yulissa first? Weren't they supposed to be twins?

Oh well, the Military Police would find her, one way or another. "What about the Patriots? What are they doing?" Sylas frowned, fixing his hat after Azure decided she wanted to play with it. "Suzuya already told us she recognized you as the new Queen and would support your efforts to clean the city." Well, that was good, at least there was someone willing to help her out. "Okay. Ask her - she and her patriots are well liked by the people. I'm sure they could find her if our Military Police can't." At this rate Yulissa might just have to go out herself and get her hands dirty again.

"The fires of rebellion have to be stamped out before they grow too big and go out of control." Yulissa spoke, eyes flashing amber. "We'll never let Magnolia descent into filth and decay." It was at that moment a large explosion rocked the city that even Yule could hear it here at the Palace. She knew that explosion anywhere. "It looks like Siegfried is on the move." Sylas said helpfully, grimacing. "The only mage that was ever stronger than you." Yulissa pulled her gloves on with a sigh. "I'll go stop him. I'm the Queen, I can't afford to lose to him a third time."

"How do we know she's really the Princess?" Someone asked, she was surrounded at the table, Pen standing behind her, holding onto her shoulder so that she would know she's there. "The wand... the familiar, there isn't really much more proof we need," Suzuya replied as someone brought snacks. Levi reached over hungrily, picking up a biscuit as someone poured tea. "Thank you," it would not do to forget one's manners. "You almost never leave the castle, so why did you go?" Suzuya wanted to know, leaning forward against the table. Levi swallowed hard, the biscuit suddenly sticking in her throat. "I don't know," she replied honestly, "I don't think it was rational. I just knew... I knew I had to go." Suzuya's expression changed, it softened. "Well, you're welcome to stay here until you figure out the next step in your plan." The leader of the Patriots offered sincerely. "Thank you," Levi was glad that for the time being, there was someone she could rely on.

Of course, her trust did not come easily. "Allow me to introduce you to our members," Suzuya began while Levi sipped at the cup of tea. "This is Endro, he's my second in command," Levi held out her hand to shake, recalling her manners. "Hello Endro, thank you for bringing me here." He nodded, blushing a bit and bowed. "It is my duty, Princess, to uphold the letter of the law and make certain that Magnolia becomes magnificent." Levi nodded, well aware of the mission of the Patriots. "This is Lumier, a new transfer from Constantina," Levi shook her hand, the girl two heads taller than the Princess with beautiful eyes. "This is Xavi, he won't shake hands, he seems standoffish, but is nice once you get to know him," Levi nodded, able to appreciate that he did not want to shake hands. "I am certain you are familiar with Adelyn," Levi nodded. "Yes, Ms. Grace and I are well acquainted, I did not know you were a Patriot." Adelyn curtsied, her smile polite.
"
"I joined in recent years, I wanted to make certain Magnolia was not going in the wrong direction." Levi nodded in appreciation as Suzuya continued. "This is another new transfer from Constantina, Yuu. Don't mind him, he's rather quiet," Levi shook his hand regardless. "Thank you for serving our city," Levi said sincerely, but Yuu merely averted his eyes. "This is Stella, the demon in charge of the demon labor in Magnolia," Levi reached out a hand for her to shake, but Stella merely glanced at her in disdain. "So, this is the future Queen we've heard so much about?" Pen glared, "What's that supposed to mean?" The familiar demanded, she would not stand for anyone to insult her Master. "Everyone is entitled to their opinion," Levi reminded Pen patiently.

"Yuu, would you mind showing the Princess to her room?" Suzuya asked and Yuu nodded, escorting her up the stairs. "You certainly are quiet," Levi scratched her cheek, he did not respond. The door he brought her to was painted yellow, the sign on it flipped over to indicate that someone used to be living in it. "This is it," Yuu opened the door. "Here is your key, for privacy. Curfew is 10 PM sharp, there are extra toothbrushes if you need them." Levi grasped his cloak, Yuu turning around in surprise. "You seem truthful," she spoke sotly. "Please, tell me what has been happening within my Kingdom. I haven't the slightest clue," Yuu's lips thinned, but he took a sort. It seemed she had convinced him at last.

|| Sister's Noise || Raina Illune ||

Using a stick of filament, Yulissa drew a magic circle to enhance her body, giving her magical wings of a wispy purple color. She had to fight Siegfried because it was her job to fight the terrorists. Siegfried was a powerful mage, one only Yulissa could handle without dying. Any Military Police who tried to handle him died horrible deaths due to his blood magic. "Azure, come with me, I need you for Siegfried." The explosion had rocked the city. "He's been more active since you became Queen." Sylas warned, letting Azure go and jump onto Yulissa's shoulder. "Every time you try to purge, he's almost always there." The cleanses and purges Yulissa made are meant to wipe out the dangerous and filthy enemies, the terrorists and rebels within the city's walls. The only way to stop the infection was to exterminate the rats to clean the city out.

"Kick his ass, and make him regret messing with you." Sylas beamed, having faith in Yulissa. She nodded, biting her lip. She didn't like to fight, but she knew it was necessary to create peace in her city. "Call up the Patriots, okay? Make sure they help search for Levi." Magnolia was dangerous - if bad people got their hands on Levi who knows what they could do to her? If only Yulissa had mastered the finding spell, but she didn't have the mana for that. "I'm going now. Get Suzuya's cooperation, she's popular and well-liked." Sylas nodded, heading to the apparating room to take care of her orders. "Come back safe, okay?" He glanced back at her. "We can't lose our Queen, not when there's still so much for us to do."

Flying in the sky, Yulissa headed straight for where Siegfried would be. Her eyes glowed amber, her wand glowing fiercely. There was still dust and debris from the explosion, it seemed he was targeting the Mana Baths, baths for mages that soothed their mana and helped alleviate the symptoms of Pangolin Disease. At the last second a spark of electricity burst through the sky, highlighting with the beams from the sun. Yulissa created a barrier at the last second, heart racing. "There you are, Queen Yulissa. Surprised you came to say hello." Siegfried Dennes grinned maliciously at her, silvery hair waving in the wind as the people screamed below. "You terrorist. You have to be eliminated!" He cackled, more energy gathering in his hands. "Like how you eliminated all those innocent people?"

Like a terrorist would care about innocent and not. "I had to be safe. You can't be too careful with criminals." One of Yulissa's first actions upon becoming Queen was to eliminate all the convicts in the prisons. They were simply a waste of taxpayers money - by getting rid of them you could save the prison money for other things, for building infrastructure and funding benevolent organizations like the Patriots. "There's starvations, there's public riots, there's the military stationed at the border so no one can escape, there's Military Police patrolling the city streets..." Siegried's smile was wicked. "I'm sorry to say it, but you have no idea what you're doing, my friend." Yulissa scoffed, firing grey bolts at him that curved around to try to hit him. "As if you have the right to speak! You're a terrorist! All you care about is killing people and causing chaos!" And it was her job to wipe them all out so Levi would never have to worry about them.

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#87CEFA ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #8FD8D8

|| Found Tonight || Dear Hamilton ||

Boom! The walls rattled, gravel shaking down from the ceiling. Levi screamed, Yuu jumping in front of the window to draw the curtains down. "Stay here," he ordered, leaving the Princess in the darkened room as the power flickered above them. Pen had drawn a barrier of wind around them, preventing the rubble from harming Levi. "It's okay, I'm alright," she rose, knowing that if there was a problem, it was her duty as Princess to inspect it. "No," Pen shook her head. "You were told to stay here, it could be too dangerous." Levi pursed her lips in doubt, but remained put. It seemed as though she waited an eternity before the light became stable and the door opened once more. "What's happenign outside? What is going on in Magnolia?" Yuu shared a glance with Lumier, supposedly they were both from Constantina. Had they known each other before becoming Patriots together?

"Princess, with all due respect, you may want to sit down for this." Lumier said, drawing out a chair. Levi sat, Pen standing behind her, ever the protective familiar. "Are you finally going to tell me what's really happening?" Levi asked, attempting to sound stern, like her Mother when her twins were evading speaking the truth. "Four months ago, our home, Constantina, came under attack by Magnolia. Althea and Yulissa rounded up all of the mages, killing anyone over 23. They took the rest of us prisoner and reassigned us to homes here, forcing us to try and assimilate. About three months ago, Yulissa took the throne, claiming that she had killed Althea, who had attempted to hex you in a fit of jealousy, not wanting to hand over the throne." Levi sank further into the chair, her head spinning. "No," she shook her head. "That can't be true."

"It is," Yuu confirmed, "our home was destroyed by your Mother." Levi took her head in both hands, her temples throbbing. "No, Magnolia is a good city. My Mother is a kind woman, she lets in immigrant mages from all over the world." Lumier stepped forward, placing a hand on Levi's shoulder, causing Pen to tense. "Constantina was attacked and destroyed, she let all of the refugees come here, that's what... that's what Yulissa told me." Had her sister truly helped spearhead the attack on the second largest magical city on the continent? "I don't understand, why would she do that? Yulissa has never lied to me before," the sisters told one another everything. Was this why Yulissa had been distancing herself? Had she known of her Mother's plan to poison her?

"Ever since Yulissa took the throne, things have been very unsteady. She's been ordering the Patriots to guard places while they purge certain populations. There's also been a loose mage on the run, bombing whatever he can to gain traction." A bomber? A terrorist in Magnolia? Purgings? What was her city coming to? "I have to-I have to go find my sister," Levi attempted to rise, but was still dizzy from shock. "No, you should stay here, she might target you next." Target her? No, Yulissa would never do that... would she? Her sister was her best friend, she would never hurt her. "I agree with them," Suzuya said from the doorway, her arms crossed. "I just sent Endro and Xavi out, Yulissa is calling for backup to take care of Sigfried. I'm going to stay here with the Princess. You two should head out, Adelyn too."

"I can go, I can help." Levi protested, but it was weak. Suzuya shook her head, joining them in the room. "No, you're a liability. The future Queen, going to stop a terrorist? What if you get hurt?" A liability? No one had ever called her that before.

With a wave of the wand, a burst of blood spikes shot forward, stabbing into Yulissa's arms as she tried to defend herself. "Yule!" Azure cried, red stripes glowing bright. "Here, I'll boost your mana!" Her tail was stiff and curled but as Azure empowered her mana Yulissa's wounds began to heal. "You can't do anything without that familiar of yours." Sigfried snarled, waving his wand again for blood tails to shoot out, lashing and snapping at Yulissa's heels. "She just keeps healing you, isn't it pathetic that you need this much help?" Yulissa didn't care about needing help. She wasn't a natural at fighting after all. "Azarath Metriun!" The Queen of Magnolia cried, a defensive shield appearing before her, blue in hue. Sigfried snorted as his tails shattered the shield, shards flying out and cutting into Yulissa's skin.

"Corvales Mirae!" Glowing rings fired towards Sigfried as if they were a shockwave of pure energy. They burned at the hairs on his arms as he dodged through them. "Impavora!" A black spike shot through the rings, stabbing into his side. Had he not moved to the left it would have gone right through his body, impaling him on the spike. Her wings beat as she flew closer, closing the distance, dodging explosions and blood magic attacks as best as she could. Azure was panting as she continued boosting her mana, causing her to regenerate. "Sangris Ultyrea." Sigfried grinned maliciously as his wand pointed directly at Yulissa. It was his signature and special spell, one he himself made for his own uses. Blood burst out of Yulissa's body in spikes, stabbing through her chest, her legs, her gut, causing her wings to spasm and flail.

Frantic, Yulissa pointed her wand. "Terminus!" Her blood stopped trying to kill her from the inside, but she was badly wounded now. "H-Hementio! Hementio!" Her skin began to mend but it was sloppy. Healing magic was always her weakest area after all. "I-I'm running out of power!" Azure cried, writhing. "I can't keep boosting your mana anymore." Yulissa was tired of losing to Sigfried, tired of being too weak. "That's my cue to leave." Sigfried vanished in a pile of blood, running away from the fight. Yulissa glanced back, shivering as two mages came to back her up. Two of her staff had come - Endro Calmanity, once a commoner, was now a guard that was usually positioned at the front gate, and Xavi Wreckum was from the prestigious Wreckum family, they were a family of architects that helped build much of Magnolia's landmark cites. He was a part of the Council, a group of mages that voted and could make laws and other decisions with Yulissa's approval. He was young but was well liked by the rest of the Council.

"Queen! You're using too much mana!" Endro cried, grabbing her by the shoulders to heal her wounds, giving the tired out Azure a bit of a break. Yulissa glanced at her wrist, touching it gingerly. "I-I know. But I couldn't just let a terrorist get away" But that was exactly what she did. "Your Pangolin Disease is unstable, you should be careful with mana usage." Xavi reminded her with a slight frown. "You wouldn't want to crystalize." Yulissa had seen the statues of the victims who overused or underused their mana with Pangolin Disease. It was a shame that it was a dominant gene, wasn't it? Yule really didn't want to become another one of those statues. "It was r-really scary. I hate blood magic." Azure whined, nuzzling Yulissa's cheek. "You two. Take me back to the Palace... then I need you both to help spread the word. Levi's gone missing - I'm sure my father was involved. We need to find them before he hurts her the way my mother tried to."

Anger was clear in her eyes. "I won't forgive the person who took Levi away from me where we could treat her." She did not notice Endro's nervous sweat, she did not know he was a party in Levi's escape.

"What do I do?" Levi had never seen conflict, she and Yulissa had never even fought before. What was she supposed to do? How was she supposed to handle something like this? Her Mother had trained her for what to do in a fight, but Levi had never actually applied it. She held her head in her hands, attempting to think. She needed to act rationally, but wouldn't the most rational thing to do be to go to Yulissa and ask her for the truth? Surely her sister would not lie to her face, would she? "And you? What stance will the Patriots take?" Levi inquired, looking up at Suzuya, who seemed to freeze at the question. "The Patriots will remain neutral, at least, until we know the truth. We will continue to serve the current Queen, but will also support the future Queen." Suzuya decided, "at least, until we can prove whether or not Queen Yulissa has ill intentions." Queen Yulissa, it was strange to hear her sister's name and the word Queen in front of it.

"You are free to stay here, so long as you may need us, we will help you." Levi rose from her seat, "I want to go see my city," she decided. "My Mother always escorted me, she never let me see Magnolia for what it truly is. I need to find out," Pen stepped forward when Suzuya stepped forward, the leader of the Patriots seeming to want to stop her. "Princess, please allow one of us to escort you." Suzuya said, but Levi held up a hand. "I've been escorted everywhere my entire life, it's about time I took a stand on my own." Suzuya bowed, "I can respect that Princess. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call one of us." She rose, respectfully averting her eyes. "Please, just call me Levi," the Princess insisted. "Come Pen, let's go see what we've never been allowed to see." Pen produced a cloak, handing it to Levi to disguise herself.

They went out the door, Levi immediately feeling disoriented. She had never been to this part of the city before, the residential area. "To the left," Levi decided, Pen walking quietly alongside her. Her familiar, too, wore a cape. It would do no one any good if they were recognized. It turns out, Levi had chosen the right way, they soon came to the end of the houses and onto a busy cross street, where carriages pranced in both directions. A flag changed color, the carraiges coming to a stop. Levi attempted to blend into the crowd, Pen grabbing her elbow so that the two of them did not become separated. The streets were loud and busy, a part of Magnolia that Levi had never seen. Her heart thumped proudly in her chest as she saw all of the vendor stalls set up for the day, selling beautiful fruits and vegetables that had been harvested from their very own fields.

"Well, well, what do we have here?" Levi heard a voice from behind her. She whirled around, two men and a woman seemed to have been following her. Where had Pen gone? Levi turned her head to look for her, but could not spot her familiar. "Look at those shoes and those robes, you're clearly not from around these parts." The first male snickered, Levi grasped her wand underneath her coat. If she pulled it out, they would certainly see the royal insignia on it. "Are you lost dearie? Want us to walk you home?" The woman cackled. Levi grit her teeth, someone suddenly grabbing her elbow. "Oh, there you are sweetheart. You shouldn't keep wandering off like that." The stranger's arms hugged her face against him, concealing her featuers. "Thank you for finding my girlfriend, she's a bit scatterbrained, you see."

"Walk quickly," he whispered, taking her hand and stalking off. Where had Pen gone? Why had her familiar disappeared? Hadn't she sensed the trouble? "Thank you, but I can take care of myself." Levi said once they were a few feet away. "Look Princess, you're clearly not from around here. In these parts, we don't pick fights in the market stalls." How had he known she was the Princess? Levi's heart thumped in her chest. "Pe-" they went down an alleyway, his face suddenly visible as he removed the hood to his cloak. "We should be safe here."

Nursing her wounds, she felt faint. Xavi had taken them back home using his magic to make a portal back to the Palace. "I have to go back home to check on my sister." Xavi said with a bit of a frown. "Are you okay now, your Highness?" Yulissa nodded, feeling faint. "I'm fine. You two scared him off." Endro looked tense as he looked about. "You should be more careful. Why do you always insist on fighting Sigfried?" He asked, ever the worried Royal Guard. He was young but talented, and Yulissa trusted him for his post. "No one else can." Yulissa muttered, eyes narrowed into sharp slits like daggers, little gleaming amber poking through the lids. "We've had squads of Military Police try to fight him and they always died." There was a one hundred percent mortality rate. "As Queen, I have to protect my people, Military Police included."

Endro and Xavi looked at each other and Yulissa not for the first time wondered how the pair knew each other and were able to come to her aid. No one should have been ordered to follow. "It'll be okay. We can get him next time!" Azure piped up, pawing at Yulissa's knees. "Yule, we just have to train more!" She beamed adorably, and Yulissa patted her gingerly, ignoring the soreness in her muscles. "We're righteous, so we'll always win in the end! It's just like in all those stories where the good guys come out on top after working hard! He's clearly evil!" That's right. They were the good guys here, Yulissa could not lose sight of that. "We're justice." Yulissa said, agreeing with her familiar's words. "You two, thank you again for coming to help me."

"No problem." Endro said with a grin. "It's our job to protect you and keep you safe." He was a Royal Guard of Magnolia, it was quite literally a part of the job description. "Not at the expense of your own life." Could anyone else win against Sigfried? "If you ever see him, inform me so I can fight him. Don't engage him yourself." He had killed over a hundred Military Police all on his own after all. Still, Xavi seemed antsy. "...How is she? Isabella?" She turned to the young Councillor, concern clear on her face. "Same as always. Once you've crystalized, that's it." Xavi muttered, pain etched on his features. "But I want to think it comforts her to have me near her." Isabella was Xavi's older sister by three years. Yulissa knew them both since she was young, and he had always idolized her.

Isabella was once a rising star in their community, an excellent scriptwriter. She would always be telling stories and writing down great adventures, or funny comedies, or wholesome heartwarmers, or heartwrenching tragedies. At the Antebellum Theater, her plays were still being performed by actors. One of her plays, Gamma Aileron, was scheduled and the tickets were already being sold for a showing next week. Anyone who had the money in Magnolia would be attending, Yulissa included. "Will you be there for Gamma Aileron?" She asked as Xavi set up a portal. He nodded, of course he would be.

"I should be going to my post now." Endro said after clearing his throat. He gave her a charming grin and headed off himself. Yulissa sighed tiredly, eyes watering with frustration. Why was she so much weaker than Sigfried? "Suzuya's pretty smart.... she's just going to stay neutral for now." Right now, she needed more allies. A lot of people were afraid of her because Magnolians were not used to a military coup. They didn't trust someone who would use such a method to take the throne. "If we could get the Patriots to publically endorse us, we'll be in a better spot." Then there wouldn't be so many little rebellions, then there wouldn't be so many purges and cleanses of the rebels.

"I'll buy the Patriots tickets to Gamma Aileron." Yulissa decided. "And then we'll make friends with them."

"So what's a girl like you doing in a place like this?" He leaned against the wall, his hair the color of freshly powdered snow, his eyes a steely blue. "N-nothing," Levi lied in a stutter. She looked at the ground, subconsciously calling Pen to her. The Princess's familiar was very recognizable, it wasn't every day that a demon showed up with multicolored hair and wings, after all. If Pen came, then Levi would be ousted. Still, she wished her familiar were beside her to proect her from this stranger. "Come on, it's clear that you don't belong here. Those shoes, that cape, you wreak of money," Levi wrinkled her nose. Money was not something you could smell. "I-I might be a little lost," she admitted, looking at her feet. "Well, if you're ever in town again... let me know," he smiled, leaning against the wall, his hand blocking Levi from making an exit. His expression slowly changed into one of recognition.

"Don't I know you?" He inquired, his grin melting away. "No," Levi replied honestly, she had never met this boy before. "You look familiar, I know!" He snapped his fingers, "like the princess. Same hair color," he fingered a strand as Levi tensed. "It's a nice color," she slapped his hand away. "Pen!" Someone screamed down the alleyway, Levi turned her head, relief flooding her. Pen stood at the other end, concealed in a cloak, waving frantically. "That's my sister, she must have found me. Thank you for all of your help before," Levi said, attempting to inch away. His hand fell away, Levi bustled towards Pen quickly, taking her familiar's hands and making her exit. "That was close," Levi whispered. "They were right, we should head back for now." Pen nodded in understanding, "We can fly?"

"No, we should walk. Do you remember how to get back?" Levi had already forgotten, she had never been very good with directions. "No," Pen replied honestly. "Do you?" Levi shook her head, it seemed that the two of them were a bit-er-turned around. "What do we do?" Pen inquired, more curious than anything. "We walk," Levi began in the direction she believed they had come from. "I think it was this way," she murmured, a bit turned around. They went down an alleyway, but Levi did not remember coming up in this direction. She stopped, turning around, attempting to determine where she was. "I guess I'm pretty useless when it comes to practical things," Levi admitted, scratching the back of her head. Pen took her hand, squeezing it. "You can do this, I know you can."

With a deep breath, Levi began to lead again. She thought that Pen was just letting her do this because she herself did not want to lead them and be the one to blame when they became turned around. Too late, they were already rather lost. Levi knew when to admit defeat and she was rather defeated by this maze of roads. "Hey, just keep moving forward. We're bound to come across a guardian or officer that can tell us where to find the Patriots, aren't we?" Levi said confidently, "Lev, did you forget? If one of them spots you, they're goint to tell Yulissa." Levi froze, recalling that she and Yulissa were possibly in the middle of their first-ever fight.

|| Sister's Noise || Raina Illune ||

Once upon a time there was a dwarf by the name of Dognog Drebblemail. He was an old dwarf, and he had seen many things come and go. He once had a family but they all moved away to the Orzammar Mountain where the dwarves lived away from others. Dognog was not like that. "Us dwarves like to stay hidden away and not meddle in the affairs of others." He said, trying to convince them to stay with him in Arnor, one of the Pocket Dimenstions where the mages lived. "But if we ever need help, there will be no one there to help us. If we help others, then they can help us when the time comes." Even so, his wife and children left him to make the journey to Orzammar.

Dwarves were a solitary folk - for a long time they had no home, the mages had once taken over Orzammar and made the dwarves slaves. But one hero by the name of Sir Flammel killed those mages and reinstated the Orzammar Mountain as the dwarven homeland. Dognog Drebblemail felt lonely in Arnor, and it only got worse when the Magnolians came and subjugated the people of Arnor, killing their adults and making their children assimilate with their own. Sir Flammel, an official Honorary Dwarf, came to Dognog one day. "You're all alone here in Arnor." He said sadly, looking at him. "I know dwarves don't tend to want to move, but you'll be alone here forever. Don't you want to come live with me in Constantina?" Arnor had fallen, but Constantina could use a new home. "Okay." Dognog said, his voice a low rumble. "If there's anyone who's lonely... maybe they could use a friend."

So Dognog decided to make a place for lonely people to go and talk. He had many customers at the Little Cup, from the Elder, Freya, to the bullied child Claris Aurora, to the hermit witch from the woods, Zinnia Evernight. He was happy there, even with his family long gone to Orzammar. He made friends. But one day, the Magnolians came and took all the Constantinans away. "Now I'm alone again." Dognog said sadly. "But I'll stay here." There he remained until he finally heard news, one day, of someone returning. It was Yue, whose eyes were dark and misty, and Zinnia, weak and bound in dark chains. "Get away." Yue told him, sobbing. "I don't want to kill you, Dognog." Every night, Dognog could hear the screams as Yue Eldriss slaughtered the fae folk one by one, starting with the Elder Tree in the woods outside Zinnia's woodland home.

Dognog did not want to die.

"I will come back for you." He told Zinnia one night when Yue was off on a killing spree. "I will bring your friends and they will save you."

So he fled to the people he despised, to the Magnolians. Maybe there were Constantinans or Arnorians still there that remembered him. Maybe there was someone in the world who would be his friend. He took his money with him, wishing to re-open Little Cup in Magnolia. One day he was lost in the residential district, trying to find the Business Registry to register his business and buy land for himself. He spotted two friendly mages in cloaks, who also appeared to be lost. Ignoring the strange stares he got from the other mages, big burly Dognog the dwarf approached the cloaked mages. "Hello." He said, making a jolly chuckle.

"My name is Dognog, and I'm afraid I'm lost. You two ladies are lost too, so what say we be lost together?" He hoped they would perhaps help him and he could help them because honestly he felt lonely all alone in such a big city. "I'm new to Magnolia, so I don't yet know anything. I want to open a cafe where anyone who wants a friend can come and talk to me."

Levi heard a voice and whirled around, she looked down, seeing the dwarf was speaking to her. A smile came across her face, her Mother had never allowed her interactions with the folk. A ruler had to be impartial and the folk had the ability to influence someone. Therefore, they had not been around allowed Levi. She had the same reasoning for demons, but Levi had gotten away with summoning Pen after begging her Mother to allow her to keep her. "Hello," Levi smiled. Pen gave a wave, despite her protective nature, she was actually rather shy. "Hi," Pen said rather lamely. Levi had always heard that dwarves were of the friendly sort, but rather territorial.

"I'm Levi and this is Pen," Levi smiled. "I guess it must have been pretty obvious, huh?" She attempted to laugh off her embarrassment. "I think it would be much nicer to be lost together than lost apart," the Princess said, kneeling down to shake Dognog"s hand. Was that proper etiquette? Levi attempted to rack her brain, but without her instructor here to drill her, she fell short. Luckily, Dognog seemed to accept the handshake. "Yes, let's be lost together," Pen piped up, warming up to the dwarf already. "A cafe?" Levi clapped her hands together, "That sounds like a wonderful idea!" Her smile broadened as she heard his idea, of a place for friends to gather.

"I know that if I needed someone to talk to, I would definitely come to your cafe." Pen craned her neck to look around, it was wall-to-wall of people surrounding them, maneuvering around the odd trio. "Let's go this way," Pen said, pointing the opposite way of which they had come. "Lead the way Pen!" Levi said exuberantly, glad that they had a new companion to be lost with. They had been walking for a few minutes in silence, the wash of the crowd and call of vendors all around them. Had Levi had any money, she would have bought a snack. When was the last time she had eaten? Levi wondered. She had nibbled on a biscuit and the cup of tea at the Patriot House.

"So Dognog, where are you from? Levi inquired, figuring she should get to know what land her people were coming from. Pen branched off, disappearing into the crowd for a moment and returning with a loaf. "You should eat," she nudged, grasping Pen's sleeve once more. Levi nodded, taking a bite of the roll. It was soft and steamed in her mouth, but good. "Hot!" Levi squirmed, swallowing hard. "Stop!" She suddenly heard a call, turning around. "Stop right there, thief!" Levi'a eyes widened, she turned towards Pen, who had frozen in her footsteps. "Come on! Levi grabbed Pen's and Dognog's hands, pouring on a burst of speed to lose themselves among the crowd.

Dognog was relieved to find that, as far as he could tell, this Levi girl and her friend, Pen, looked to be good company. Dwarves didn't usually like company, but Dognog was a social creature and what little company was available was always better when it was someone nice. "It's perfectly fine! I'm lost too, so maybe we can get unlost if we work together!" He patted his round belly, the wrinkles in the corners of his eyes crinkling with joy. Levi smiled cutely as Dognog told her his idea for a cafe. "I'll name it Little Cup, like I always have. I'd be honored if you and Pen were my first customers." Hopefully he would be able to find suppliers here in Magnolia because there didn't seem to be as much wildlands to receive ingredients for his cooking as there was in Constantina.

With Pen leading the way, Dognog was more than happy to follow along. Magnolia was so big and modern, it was an incredible sight. He was not used to this - Constantina was a city built merged with the natural forest it was surrounded by, and Arnor was a port city built onto the rocks and shores of America's West Coast. Half of Arnor was under the sea level, it was beautiful if it had not been emptied and turned into a ghost town - which was the same fate that had befallen Constantina, save for Yue and Zinnia who still resided there. Levi wanted to know where he was from. "I was born in Arnor, but then I moved to Constantina after Magnolia annexed Arnor." He scratched his chin under the long elegant beard he proudly wore. "Then I came here after Magnolia took Constantina." He did not want to go live in Orzammar because he wanted to help and make friends with and mingle with other creatures. Orzammar was too dwarven for Dognog. "Do you know any Arnorians or Constantinans? Maybe they remember me." His eyes, while jolly, betrayed a deep loneliness within.

Arnor was subjugated around eighty years ago. Constantina was subjugated a few months ago now. Pen returned with bread, giving it to Levi. "Did you pay for that?" Dognog asked, and his answer was given to him a few seconds later when someone yelled for a thief. "I'll leave some money here!" He dropped a few coins on the floor before running after Levi and Pen, both of whom were young and spry and could move quickly. Dognog was short and stout, but he stuck out a lot too. He did his best but his short stumpy legs could not keep up as well as he wanted to.

They finally stopped running near a fountain, beautiful with statues of the twelve zodiacs decorating it. There was one other person here with dark hair and a familiar complexion. She looked over, her eyes dark and oily like mist. "Oh, it's you, Dognog." What was Yue Eldriss doing here? Wasn't she supposed to be in Constantina? "You shouldn't be here." Dognog reflexively stood in front of Levi and Pen to try and protect them. They couldn't know the most dangerous dark mage of the realms was here now. "Don't mind me. I'm just taking my daughter back home." She looked past Dognog to peer at his companions. "Levi, Pen... it's good to see you two again. How have you been?" She smiled but it was clear she was miserable and past her breaking point. "Thanks to you two, I found my friend, Zinnia, again. Is there any way I can repay you two?"

Annxed? Levi's easy smile slowly melted. Magnolia had annexed Anor? It seemed they had done it to Constantina too. So the rumors had been true after all? Her sister had told her something else, her Mother had convinced her it was for the betterment of Magnolia and all mage kind. How much of that was true? How much of what Levi knew of her Kingdom was the real Magnolia? Did she know any Constantinians? "Actually, I know two," Levi realized after a moment. "A Yuu and Lumiere," it seemed that her new friends were already coming in handy. "Do you know them? Are they patrons of yours?" The Princess wondered aloud. She already could not wait to go to the restaurant the dwarf wanted to open. Little Cup, it sounded so homely and warm. "I can't wait to see it," Pen suddenly tugged on her sleeve, a guardian running after them for the bread roll in Levi's hand.

"Pen, how could you steal!?" Levi asked incredulously, her familiar blushing heavily. "I-I didn't realize you had to pay for things!" Pen squeaked, "I always thought people just gave you things because, you, you know!" She stuttered over her words as they ran, slowing for Dognog, who had a much heartier body that made it more difficult for him to navigate through the crowd. It almost made sense, as Pen had been did not know the way of the humans, she knew about as much of Magnolia as Levi did. Yulissa and Azure were well versed in the lay of the land. No doubt her sister would have been able to make it easily around the streets. Once more, Levi was kicking herself for never challenging the sheltering her mother had done. She was supposed to be Queen and yet she truly knew nothing of her Kingdom.

They stopped when the streets became thicker and the people thinned. In front of them was suddenly a fountain, the twelve zodiacs glinting around the circle, spuring water out of their different artifacts. Levi was breathing hard, her physical stamina weak. "I-I think we lost them," she said as she straightened, glad that they had outrun the guardians. The Guardians were Magnolia's enforcement task, they policed the streets in search of trouble or danger and took the criminals in. If they had caught them, Levi would be in big trouble. Levi straightened, her breath back at last. Pen was not winded in the least, as demons had much better stamina than humans. "Next time, we need to use money, okay?" Levi scolded, Pen nodding and looking at her feet. Levi wiped her brow, Dognog suddenly standing in front of them protectively.

A girl Levi recognized, the one she had sent to the hospital before her sleep. "Yue," the Princess recalled, her smile returning. Why shouldn't she be here? That's right, she should still be in the hospital. "How are your eyes? Has your sight returned?" Levi asked worriedly, not minding Dognog and his sudden aggression. Dwarves were quick to anger, after all. Their small statures made their temperment short. "I'm glad you remembered us," Levi smiled, striding over. "Things have been... strange, admittedly." Levi scratched behind her head, "I'm glad that you found your friend. How is she? Do you two need any help?" The Princess was blind to the situation at hand, to the possible danger, although Pen had suddenly grown tense.

Repay them? Levi shook her head. "There's no need to repay me, I'm just glad that you and your friend have been reunited."

To Dognog's surprise, Levi did know two mages who were from Constantina. His eyes widened when he heard their names. "Ahh, Yuu, he was a good boy. His family had a hard past but he became stronger because of it." He lost his sister and he always lived being discriminated against. Despite that, he was one of Constantina's oldest survivors now thanks to being just barely below the cutoff age. "And Lumiere's here too!" She was a young but talented mage, not as strong as Darris and Salla were, but she had her own things she was good at. Dognog had helped convince her to confess her feelings to Darris in the first place. She always did regret not doing more to help Claris, but now she was one of Contantina's only hopes remaining.

"I would like to see them again." Dognog said with a hearty laugh, wiping sweat off his brow. "Please tell them that they're invited to the Little Cup again." They would be good sights for sore eyes. No doubt most of the Arnorians were assimilated now though, it was a tragedy. Magnolians were warmongers and cruel, though regardless of that Dognog had no choice but to try and become one of them. Until Constantina could be restored, he would remain here. Pen stole bread so they had to run through the crowd, Dognog trying to push through with his round body as best as he could. Eventually they were clear and a fountain was in view, water sparkling beautifully with the statues of the Zodiacs. And at this fountain was the deadliest of dark mages in this era, Yue Eldriss herself. She had once been so afraid, so nervous, even his voice was enough to scare her. Now just the way she was standing, the old dwarf could see her confidence.

It was with both fear and pride that Yue was able to look so confident in herself now. "My eyes work again." Yue's eyes were once a pretty blue like the beautiful blue sky overhead. Now they were dark and oily, like a misty whisper staring back at you. "We're together again. I'll never let Zinnia be taken by someone else again." Yue smiled a little to herself, cheeks flushing. It was obvious that she was deeply in love. "The place you're looking on is Fable Road." Yue told Levi after performing a bit of Occlumency. "Just keep going up that street, then take two lefts, and go straight and you'll be back home again." Yue was supposed to tell Yulissa if she saw Levi, but the fact remained that she owed Levi a favor for taking her out of the glass room that day.

"As for you, Dognog, I would like to be a patron of yours again one day." Dognog nodded. Yue was a dark mage, she killed the fae folk indiscriminately. Would he be safe if she came to have some tea and biscuits? He could only hope that was the case. "You should bring Zinnia too." Dognog told Yue, hoping she got the message. "She never was the type to like being cooped up at home." Yue's smile was razor sharp. "I'll keep that in mind, then." She pointed down another street. "The Business Registry office is that way. Though it's sad you'll have to part ways with Levi and Pen here." They were headed in opposite ways.

Dognog decided to bow his head to his companions, lowering his hat in a show of kindness. "Thank you for being my companions as we were lost together." He gave them both a friendly wink. "Please come visit me at the Little Cup, you two."

"I'm glad," Levi smiled. "You deserve to be reunited with your friend, I'm sure you both suffered a lot." Levi wanted people to be happy, she wanted to be a ruler that could maintain peace and prosperity. That came from helping your people first, it came from leading with a kind heart and lending an ear when someone needed it. Yue looked as though she very much needed a friend. She may have been reunited with the one she held dear to her heart, but sometimes, it was easier to spill details to strangers. Pen had tensed, although Levi was uncertain as to why. Her familiar seemed to be on edge, as though she sensed something that Levi did not. Pen was rather skiddish though, Levi did not blame her for tensing up. "And I'm happy your eyes are working again, it's a terrible thing, to be unable to see."

Her smile faltered a bit as Dognog began to take his leave. "Thank you for accompanying us," Levi waved as he left, but made no move to go on her way herself. Dognog had pointedly said something to Yue about her friend, it seemed they were mutual companions, but Dognog took off, leaving Levi to believe that he and Yue were in a bit of a skirmish. "I look forward to it," she waved until the heavyset dwarf had disppeared behind a building. "Yue," Levi started, "I can tell that something is on your mind. Do you want to talk about it?" She broke off a piece of bread, offering it to the witch, "Are you hungry? Are you safe? Do you need a place to stay?" Levi could not exactly offer anywhere for Yue, unless she wanted to smuggle her into the Patriot House, where she was currently staying.

Speaking of which, they were going to get worried if she was gone much longer. Levi did not mind though, it was her duty to find out what was happening in her city. Like or not, Yue was a citizen of Magnolia now and if something was the matter, Levi intended to help. Or at least, she hoped that she could. She had no power, money, or influence behind her right now. Not until she took back the throne for herself, if she could. Perhaps Yulissa would simpy hand it over? Yes, Yule was more than likely just protecting the crown since Levi had been hexed by their Mother. Or at least, that's what Levi hoped. She wanted to believe in her sister, she wanted to believe that Yulissa was doing right by her city and by their people. There were so many conflicting stories, but Levi had to see it with her own eyes before she would believe that Yulissa had a bad bone in her body.

~~~~
Things were not going well for Zinnia Evernight. The moment she had realized what had happened to Yue, she had attempted to kill her. Yue had stopped her, using dark magic to place black chains around her, preventing Zinnia from casting another spell. Yue had taken Zinnia back to Constantina, but it was no longer home. The city streets whispered with the silent ghosts of the past. The shrubbery overgrew, poking its head up around the city where it should not be growing. Nature was retaking the city that the mages had claimed for themselves. The dead that had been laid in a mass grave now had flowers rising over where their bodies had turned to bone and dust. It felt like the end of the world.
And Zinnia...
Zinnia was trapped within the walls of her house in the woods. Never before, had her home felt like such a prison. She could cast any magic without the authority of Yue. There were black cuffs on her wrists and ankles, preventing Zinnia from using magic unless Yue willed it. Blithe and Rainarch too, were forced to wear collars, least any of them think of betraying her. "I'm going to cure you," Zinnia had foolishly said, determined to treat the disease that would kill Yue if she ever became too happy. She worked through the night, unable to sleep with the sounds of slaughter as the fae were dragged to an untimely grave. There were dark bags beneath Zinnia's eyes. During the day, she would nod off at random intervals, as it was the only time Yue did not go on a killing spree. There was no running away either, as Yue would always find her. She wrote letters to ask for aid, but they never made it outside of the walls of the city. There was no escaping the cage Yue had built for her.
Today, Yue was gone. She had left with little explanation, saying that she would be back. Zinnia was drifting off in a sunny patch outside, having been working in the garden all morning. Blithe was inside, cooking lunch, the house otherwise silent. As soon as Yue left, she came to Zinnia's side, plopping down in the green house, the air warm. "What do we do?" She asked for the umpteenth time, her head in her hands. "There is no more we can do, I'm afraid." Zinnia replied, the sun setting the white streak in her hair aglow. "The demons will not help us, they will side with Yue. The angels do not meddle in the affairs of witches. The folk are terrified of coming near the house. There is no help." Zinnia sat upright, a leaf stuck to her hair.
"The Elders warned me against this, they said this would come to pass." Zinnia held her head in her hands, "That I would become a tool of Yue's using. That if I did not kill her, I would assist in becoming the demise to us all."
"But that's not fair, you don't deserve this." Blithe reached over to pick the leaf out, Zinnia shaking her head. "There is nothing I can do to avoid prophecy, you know that." Blithe's hands shook as they balled into fists. "I'll kill Yue, I'll do it," she whispered, but they both knew that they could not.
"The cure is our only hope."
"You're running dry."
"I simply need new books."
"Then we'll go into town."
"Unless Yue is here we cannot leave the property line."
"Then we'll do something else, we'll summon someone."
"No one will come Blithe, we truly are alone."
Yue could still hear the screams echoing in her mind. Were they her own screams, or the screams of the innocents she was meant to kill each night, the innocents she had no choice but to kill? She didn't want to do any of it, she didn't' want to, even now her hands were stained with blood of the souls she had reaped. Zinnia was miserable, Blithe's eyes screamed murder at her, Rainarch faked positivity from her eyes, nearly permanently affixed to Yue's face now. Would dying of happiness have been the better option? Was there really no other way? She held in the wistful smile as Dognog made his way to begin the Little Cup business once again. He deserved better than to have lost his home a second time. Yue glanced Levi and Pen's way, wondering why they hadn't began walking back to where they were missed yet.
"Don't worry, Master, I'm sure they didn't notice anything yet!" Rainarch spoke into her mind. As a set of black eyes - Yue's own eyes having been removed in order to allow Rain to literally become her eyes - Rain could only speak using magic now, and usually only into Yue's head. "Pen's probably just shy, so don't worry about it, Master, they don't see a thing!" Levi began pestering her, trying to see if there was anything wrong. "It's just strange. I haven't gotten used to it yet." Naturally Yue couldn't tell the truth. She couldn't tell anyone what she had been up to back home in Constantina. "Constantina is empty. Most of us are dead now. And those left are scattered about, scared and alone, with their families dead and gone." The adults were killed and the children were lost and afraid. Bitterness was clear in her voice. "It'd be nice if Magnolia had never come." Rainier, Dean Eincrad, Autumn, even Protea, they were all gone now.
Nothing but desecrated, piled together in an unmarked mass grave. No dignity for the fallen. "But I found Zinnia. Now I need to find my daughter. Do you know where the nursery is?" Wing and the other babies were taken. Obviously they weren't being put to work just yet. Baby Wing would be raised by Zinnia, and she would become Yue's hope. Wing would go into the past and hopefully this time she would be able to complete her mission. "My daughter, Wing, I need to take her home." Her heart ached for Wing who was trapped in the future. The fact that the awful future still existed could only mean that Yue would have to keep killing innocents for many, many years into the future.
She wasn't sure if she could wait that long.
"You two should be careful." Yue said quietly. Levi and Pen were good, nice people. The Silver Witch, rotted and rusted, did not want anything bad to befall them. "There are people in this city, even now, plotting to execute Yulissa. If they were to find you, who knows what they would do?" Would anyone still have faith in Levi after seeing what Yulissa was capable of? "Stay alive. I'll stay alive too." Yue stood at the fountain, because she knew if she took Wing back to Constantina with her, it would be forcing her to live a hard, painful life.
But it was Yue's only hope. Zinnia couldn't cure her. But maybe Wing could make it so that she was killed before ever being a witch. If she died before meeting Zinnia, then everything would be fine. Zinnia wouldn't have to mourn and cry for her. It was what was best for everyone.
|| Found Tonight || Dear Hamilton ||
It sounded lonely, to live in Constantina, all alone. Why had she moved back there instead of staying in Magnolia? "I'm sorry," Levi whispered in earnest. "My family should never have interfered. I don't know what they were thinking," Levi wondered if it would be in appropriate to reach out and hug Yue, she looked as though she had not been hugged in a very long time. Without thinking, the witch reached forward, wrapping her arms around Yue and encircling her in a hug. "Things will get better, don't worry." She said as she released the girl. The nursery? Levi tilted her head in thought, she could recall going there a few times as part of the wellness tour, when Magnolia had begun taking in immigrants. Pen squeezed her arm in warning, as though to tell Levi not to give her directions. "I didn't know you had a daughter, that's wonderful." Yue looked rather young, but those from the Orient had always seemed younger then they truly were.
"You'll turn down that way and keep going until you see the hospital," she directed, but something in her gut told her that this wasn't right, that Yue should not be going to the nursery. "Um, after that you make a right and it should be there. I hope you find her," what was this strange feeling? Why did Yue look as though she had ill intentions? "Um, Yue," Levi conjured up a magical seal. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to use this, alright? It'll give us an occlumency link." Levi held it out for Yue to take, something like a business card. "That way, if you're ever in Magnolia again, maybe you can bring your friend and we can all go to Little Cup together?" It was a nice, naive, innocent thought wasn't it? Levi truly was oblivious to the pain of the world with her smooth, unblemished skin. She did not yet know of the cruelties this planet contained.
Be careful? Levi's smile faltered, fading completely as Yue spoke. Her expression turned to one of horror, "Thank you for the warning," Levi managed. "Yes, let's do our best to stay alive. Hopefully we'll see each other again," Levi attempted to smile again before saying her goodbye. She grasped Pen's sleeve and began in the direction Yue had given her. Low and behold, they made it back to the Patriot House. Levi knocked on the door, feeling unease roiling in her stomach. That girl, Yue, she was going to do something awful, wasn't she? Levi could only hope that someone would stop her before it was too late. "I don't like her," Pen growled, "we should stay away from that girl." It only confirmed Levi's fears. "I think she just needs a friend," Pen shook her head. "You think that about everyone."
The door opened a smidgen, revealing a face. Adelyn, who quickly unbolted the locks and allowed the Princess inside. "Princess," she bowed so low her head nearly graced the floor. "No need, please, just call me Levi." She sat as she removed the hood of her cloak. It seemed the entire house of Patriots had returned and were preparing dinner. "Please, come join us in the living room." Adelyn gestured, but Levi shook her head. "I'd like to help, what can I do?" She asked, wanting to be of some use. "No, no! Please, come sit. We've already taken care of everything," Xavi insisted from the kitchen. "Alright, but tomorrow, I want to help. If I'm staying with you all, I have to put in just as much work." Suzuya laughed, "Please Princess, you're an honored guest." She took Levi by the elbow, guiding her to the couch.
"It is our job to serve you, not the other way around."
"I knew you would come back." Yulissa smiled smugly at Yue, whose eyes burned with anger as she opened the doors to the throne room where Yulissa sat. On the carpet was a brown haired infant with droopy eyes and a smile as she tried to play with blocks. She was already two years old now, and she would continue to grow as the years went on. "There's a reason she shared your name. Eldriss. Though the idea of you having a child at your age is a bit incredible if I must say." Yue, the Silver Witch, bristled with anger. "What are you planning? Why did you take her here?" When Yue arrived at the nursery she had been informed that Wing Eldriss had been taken by her highness Yulissa Anemone herself. So naturally Yue's next stop was the palace here.
Yue's wand was out. That was really barbaric, it was not necessary. And it would not convince Yulissa to simply give Wing Eldriss over. "Given how strong you are, there's a good chance some of it went to Wing here as well. I'm going to take her in and nurture her as my own." Yulissa's eyes were ice cold as she watched Yue, trying to gauge the dark mage's reaction. "It's obvious you want something from me." Yue growled. Why did it look as if her eyes were growing black spikes, rearing to attack? "Stop beating around the bush and just say it." Yulissa blinked. She didn't think this would happen. A part of her was honestly hoping for a fight. "Alright. I'll say what I want." Wing looked at the new visitor and reached, trying to crawl over but Yulissa knelt down, stopping her from going over to the person she recognized as a mother.
"In truth, Magnolia needed someone like Zinnia. Your talents, too, would have been greatly needed." Yulissa spoke, smug smile never leaving her features. "So you running off to Constantina like this? I don't really like that. I helped you, I gave you back your wand, you'd think you should treat me a little more kindly." She shrugged her shoulders, tone light yet severe at the same time. "I'm not asking you to leave Constantina. But I do think we deserve to employ the two of you here at the Palace for at least five days a week." Naturally they would apparate back and forth. Thanks to the Apparating Rooms throughout Magnolia, it was easier to apparate long distance like through multiple Pocket Dimensions. Security existed at each apparating room, for obvious reasons.
Yue clearly didn't like that idea. "Five is too much. Make it three." Still, despite Yue not liking this, it still remained that she could not let Wing remain in the hands of someone like Yulissa. Who knows what evil things Yulissa would put her up to? "Three works just fine." Three was what Yulissa was aiming at any ways, and Yue walked right into it herself. "Have your girl. And tell Zinnia that she'll be making potions here for me at my palace. I'll have a room with the state of the art equipment for her. You'll get a Divining room for your own purposes too, of course."
Levi was preparing for bed that night, borrowing a nightgown from Adelyn made of silk from the Orient. It was soft, but not as soft as Levi's own nightgown at home. She climbed into bed before realizing that fear had stricken her heart. "What's wrong?" Pen asked in alarm, settling down on the end of the bed. Demons needed very little sleep, they could go days or weeks without ever getting any shut eye. "I don't know... I feel... afraid," Levi admitted. "What if I rest my eyes for a moment and three months have passed me by?" Levi whispered, clutching her wand against her chest. "If eight hours pass, I'll wake you up," Pen promised, swinging her legs. "But what if you can't?" Levi whispered, her hands shaking. "Then... I'll drag you down to hell and we'll wake you up there." It was a joke of course, but Levi didn't laugh. Pen reached forward, touching Levi's shoulder. "I promise, nothing bad will happen while I watch over you."
But something bad had happened, granted Pen had not been there. When had Levi been hexed? She wondered? In the moments when her mother hugged her and told her that she loved her? Now, the former Queen was dead. Or at least, at large. "You need rest Princess, I can tell that you'red tired," Pen tucked the blanket in around her. "Alright, but if I sleep past sunrise, wake me?" Levi placed her wand beside her on the nightstand. She had just finished cleaning it, despite the fact that she had not cast one spell that entire day. "Goodnight," Levi lay down to sleep when the door suddenly opened. "Oh, I'm sorry," Lumier whispered, poking her head in. "I didn't realize you were already sleeping," Levi shook her head and sat up, "No, I was just about to though. What is it?" Lumier opened the door fully, Yuu standing behind her. Both of them appeared concerned as they stalked into the room and stood on either side of the bed.
"We need your help," Lumier wrung her hands together nervously. They were both in pajamas, no doubt Suzuya was going to invoke the curfew any minute now. "We can't leave Constantina, not without the royal insignia." Levi's expression became one of alarm. "Leave? Why would you do that?" She asked, sitting upright now, fully alert. "You can't go, you have to stay here, where it's safe." Yuu and Lumier exchanged a glance, then looked back at her. "Our friends... one of them has gone bad, I'm afraid." Yuu spoke slowly, having seen Yue the day she broke Zinnia out. She was not quite... right, per say. He feared that the darkness had begun to take over her heart. "Yue Eldriss kidnapped Zinnia Evernight and is holding her hostage in Constantina." Levi's eyes widened, she shook her head incredulously. "No," the girl whispered, not believing. "No, that can't be right. I saw Yue today, she was going to get her child and go home." Now Lumier and Yuu seemed alarmed.
"It was probably Wing, it means she's preparing for a horrible future so they can send Wing to the past to stop her." Lumier's hands shook, there were tears in her eyes now. "We have to stop them before it's too late," Levi took Lumier's hands in her own. "I'll use my royal seal to grant you leave... but I want to go with you." Their eyes widened in surprise. "If Yue is going to become evil, then I must help combat it for the sake of Magnolia's future." Yuu bowed his head in respect. "Thank you Princess, we promise we'll protect you." He said as Suzuya yelled at them all to get to bed. Levi lay back against the pillows, she had never left Magnolia before. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Pen asked, "What if Yue considers you an enemy too now?" But Levi only shook her head, "Pen, what kind of leader would I be if I can't face the greatest evil head on?"
The same woodsy smell that she loved so much. The rustic beauty of Constantina would never grow old on her. Flo was quiet as she returned home, a toddler in her hands. Wing was tugging on her hair, which had grown long over the months. It was now down her back, almost to her feet, as it swept across the floor. She had grown numb - she needed to do more, she needed to stay miserable because being with Zinnia just made her so happy, so happy she could die, literally. Laetitia's Disease was a guillotine's blade hanging over her neck, waiting to strike when she was at her peak happiness. There was no escape. The streets were empty, there were less and less fae folk for her to extinguish. It was - it was horrible. She needed to be stopped. She needed someone to fix this, somehow. Anyone, anyone as long as it wouldn't make Zinnia cry.
"You're my only hope." She whispered to the child, embracing her. "I'm the ultimate evil. You have to kill my. I'm your mother, and you have to kill me." She strutted into the home where Zinnia was bound by her chains of darkness holding her down, sealing her magic. "My love." Yue said, kissing Zinnia on the lips, eyes dark and smouldering. "It looks like we'll have to work with Yulissa in Magnolia, so you'll get some time away from your chains."[/color] Would that be better? Suddenly Yue lost her vision, Rainarch was released from being eyes. "Hey, Zin Zin." Rain said with a little smile. "I brought you a joke book from Magnolia! U-um... do you like it?"
Sonya put on her raid armor, smiling grimly at the task before her. In the Hephaestus Ward, there was a rebellion going on. Over there, the local blacksmiths were trying to fight against Yulissa's rule. "I'll be going with you." Yulissa entered the room with a little smile. "I can't let you all be the ones to get your hands dirty." Sonya was a member of the Assault Unit, branch of Magnolia's military meant to lead assaults and take out enemies. "It's been a while since we ran around together." Sonya grinned, brushing her hair. "You've been so busy as a Queen we haven't had much of a chance." The other Assaults looked at her with a mix of wonder and worry. "Is it really okay?" Sir Arvis asked, the Commander of the Assault Unit. "It's not customary for the Queen to put herself in danger."
Yulissa brushed it off, she didn't care. "I need to see the purges for myself." Yulissa was the one who ordered them, it wasn't right if she wasn't there to also stain her soul with sin. She was not a good person, and she couldn't hide from that reality. "I'll keep you save, Yule. Just like always." Sonya was a great fighter, even if Yulissa was stronger she liked to let Sonya feel powerful. "I'll trust you with my life." With raid armor on, Yulissa closed her eyes, knowing what was to come.
Silent tears dripped down her face as she rose from the garden, a glint catching her eyes. What was this? She wondered, kneeling down curiously. "Zinny?" Blithe asked, wondering if she would come inside for tea. "In a moment," Zinnia replied, on her hands and knees. She dug underneath the silvery plant to the root, her eyes widening. "This is-" she rose and bustled inside, past her familiar, to the potion room. Zinnia opened up the window, dumping out the contents of another failed attempt, the grass springing bright and green beneath the snow. She lit a fire underneath the hearth using a match and pulled her cauldron over the flame. "Zinnia?" Blithe poked her head inside, perhaps a bit fearful. "There's been a breakthrough," she turned towards Blithe, a crazed look in her eye.
Hope.
"That's-that's not supposed to be here. Where did it come from?" Blithe asked as a hysterical laugh rose from Zinnia's throat. "Don't you see? It's the G-ds!" Zinnia had never once believed in them, but these, the fates, were powerful. This was too powerful of evidence to refute their existence. "Blithe, this could do it. This could cure Yue," her heart thumped in her chest as she leaned over her desk, carefully extracting the substance from the root. Devilsnare was an incredibly rare substance and the seed within the root was known to cure most any ailment. "Be careful," Blithe warned as Zinnia cut her thumb, mixing her blood with the root in the pot. She added fire flower, bats eye, bees wing, and toadstool before mixing it clockwise twice. There was very little information about the disease Yue was suffering from, but if Zinnia knew anything, it was that she could find even the smallest bit of information in the library.
Zinnia worked through the afternoon, waiting and pacing until the mixture turned gold. She divided it into small phials, the rest of the devilsnare root going into a pot so that Zinnia could cultivate it and turn it into a crop. Her hands were shaking as she capped each one. The door suddenly opened, the witch and familiar both stiffening. Had Yue returned? She left the potion room, holding the potion in her hand. "You're back," Zinnia smiled. A part of her disappointed, the other half relieved. She did not want to stay here alone, she did not want to live in this prison by herself. "What's that in your hands?" Her eyes widened as she realized, "You kidnapped Wing?" Why would she do this? Why would she take the baby? Yue wasn't technically Wing's mother anymore. Her hands shook as she produced the phial from the pocket of her dirtied robe.
"Please, try this one. I think... I think it might be it."
When Levi awoke the next morning, the house was nearly empty. Suzuya was the only one left, "I was waiting for you. I think you might want to see this," she said as she placed a plate down with breakfast. "Where is everyone?" Levi inquired, Pen sitting to her right. "They've already gone, the Queen called early this morning. She wants to perform a purge," Levi's heart stopped in her chest. Suddenly she no longer felt hungry for breakfast. "A purge? What does that mean?" Levi demanded, her stomach roiling. "Exactly what it sounds like. I think it's important you witness it, Princess. She has asked for the Patriot's aid to clear the area." Levi swallowed hard; could her sister truly order such a terrible thing?
"I need to go," Levi rose. "I'll cast a spell," she picked up her wand, which glittered in the light of morning. "Chaminus stem," her image flickered and changed. Levi grew an inch taller, her hair changing from silver to blonde and her eyes from blue to pink. Her eyes watered, the process stung a bit, but was otherwise painless. "Come, I'll give you a set of Patriot robes," Suzuya led Pen and Levi upstairs, where she doled out a set for each. Pen could change her appearance, all demons could modify it easily. Levi donned the robes and looked in the mirror. Now, if Yulissa saw her, she would be uncrecognizable. "For the time being, your false name will be Lilac and Pen will be Penina." Levi nodded as Suzuya handed her a dagger. "Just in case your wand is insufficient."
Levi nodded and sheathed the dagger against her thigh. "Thank you, Suzuya. I don't want to run from reality, I need to see what is happening to Magnolia."
