Modikai hung upside down on a large tree branch. Her eyes flittered around as she watched the people walk around. I wish I could speak english, she thought to herself. A frown appeared across her face, and she jumped down from the branch with a light thud.

Modikai began walking, examining and taking in her surroundings around the new area. "Tiny," she said in Japanese. "Small, but comfortable."

~~The two hosts are the two human characters human guy and human girl the two exchange students are demon guy and angel girl. Angel girl is staying with human guy and demon boy will be staying with human girl. Your characters do not have to stay in that house if you are an exchange student so do not worry.~~

Anya looked around at the airport not quiet sure what to expect. She had a smaller suitcase. Her hair was done simply and the light of the building against her light brown redish hair and her shorter dress and jeans gave her a bit of a pixie look. She looked around hoping for the person that she would be staying with not really knowing who it was. She was excited but yet at the same time she was worried that she might not get along with her host. She sighed walking down the stairs into the main lobby looking around more anticipation pulling at her curiosity.

Modikai gazed at the houses, tapping her lip ring. "Nice houses," she said to herself with a grin. "I should get my own."

(Sorry. Writer's block. xD)

Alcyone sits up from her warm, cozy bed yawning lazily, she glances at the clock and her eyes widen in horror, realizing she overslept for an hour. She curses darkly before jumping out of bed and scrambles grabbing her clothing and things that are needed for the rest of the school day. Quickly changing, Alcyone dashes to the bathroom performing her normal morning ritual. Picking up her worn messenger bag she runs out of the normal white picket fence house she's spent her whole life in.

Alcyone looks up at the sky, entranced by the shade it was today as she ran in the direction of the high school. A smile spread across her face as she looked around the neighborhood, soaking in the peaceful beauty. Slowing down to a walk, Alcyone forgets why she was in such a hurry especially when there were so many different sites that begged to be captured. She pulled out her professional camera and wandered around town, snapping pictures of various sites that interested her.

After a while, she noticed an increase in the amount of people and realized that school had ended without her even going, she smacked her forehead. Stupid stupid stupid, this was the third time I've done this in two months! Idiot! Alcyone sighed sorrowfully before noticing a stray cat. She crouched down and held out her hand in an attempt to entice that black cat to walk toward her. They stared at each other for the longest of time before the cat relented and walked gracefully toward her.

Kodaka yawned loudly. Ditching class was not something he did regularly but today he REALLY didn't feel like getting up. Realizing he had missed his second class, Kodaka shakes his head. "I might as well find something to do." The problem in Edenbrook was there practically NOTHING to do. The town was very small and since he previously lived in the densely populated country of Japan for most of his life Kodaka was not used to living with so few people. Back in Japan, he ALWAYS had something to do. Even though he didn't speak a word of Japanese, his friends always spoke English so he didn't have to worry. His parents begged him to learn Japanese but he was always too lazy to even start. Now, being in America and being asked if he could speak the language, Kodaka regretted not taking up his parents advice. It was kind of embarrassing when he would watch anime with subtitles and being asked, "Can't you understand it?" or, "I thought you spoke Japanese?"

Kodaka let out a frustrated sigh. It was to late for that now. Passing a small neighbor hood, Kodaka looked up at the sky. 'It's so boring here. Nothing happens. What would I give to make this town a bit more......... Exciting?' Lost in thought, Kodaka didn't notice a figure walking straight in his path. Letting out a surprised grunt, Kodaka rammed straight into the unfortunate person that happened to be walking in front of him. Blinking twice, Kodaka mumbled an apology. "Crap, Sorry.. I didn't see-" He stopped short. Cocking his head to one side, Kodaka tried to understand what his eyes where taking in. A girl, much shorter than him, stood there in front of him. It wasn't her strange green hair or her mismatched clothes that struck him. It was her eyes. They weren't.... how would you put it..... human. Nothing about this girl looked normal. Her skin was as pale as marble and there was a band-aid that ran across the bridge of her nose. And Kodaka could have sworn he saw a tail waving back and forth behind her legs. 'Who does this girl think she is? She looks like some sort of clown from a freak show.' Even though those thoughts were running through his head, the boy felt like in all the strangeness of her outfit, her eyes, hair: it kind of all seemed.... right.... Running his fingers through his wiry hair, Kodaka blinked again. It was probably best not to get involved with this girl but something about her, strangely enough, gave Kodaka the impulse to say something. "Ummm..... do you always.... dress like that?"

Ok as this is the bigining and a few of the characters are exchagne students they have hosts that they are staying with Kodaka is the host for Anya at the beggining this might change and Alycone is the host for the demon guy whenever it is that she gets that character in.))

Anya sighed noticing that there was no one there to pick her up. She pulled an adress from her bag and walked out to get a cab. She got into the cab gave the driver directions and leaned back to maybe enjoy the ride. As the car went along the number of cars on the roads slowly got fewer and fewer. She wondered how small the town would be. If there would be anything to do. The cab dropped her off at the buss stop and she got off walking toward the address on her information sheet on how to find her host for the months she would be staying in Edenbrook.

Skylar grinned in amusement as he casually walked out of the airport, he was excited to go to a new place seeing as to how the other city didn't seem to want him anymore. He mentally shrugged, it wasn't his fault those kids provoked him over and over again. Shifted his duffle bag, filled with all of his worldly possessions, over his left shoulder. His gaze swept around the busy area wondering if anyone remembered to arranged a pick up.

A chuckle slipped from his lips, People here must already dislike me...This will be interesting. He tapped his wrist three times before looking around to see if anyone was going to take him to the address, of course nothing changed. Why do I always tap my wrist when something needs to change.... he mused to himself before decided to take a taxi. Taking one last glance at the people noting how most of the travelers were either in a hurry and worried, probably uncertain about whether they'd get onto their fight in time.

With his bright pink hair, it was easy to catch the attention of a taxi driver. Skylar gave the driver a slight crumpled paper, from his pocket, with the address of his new home. Once the driver got onto the road, he relaxed slightly, his mind keeping itself occupied by coming up with possible situations at the new, unknown town.

Sunlight filtered into the mother's sweet of the new house in Edenbrook, waking Noel from his deep slumber. It had been almost a year since he was able to sleep in complete silence in his own comfortable room. Thanks to his adoptive parents, he was even able to have his own house, that was still attached to their own home. Swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, he started off his day analysing what needed to be done before he head toward the school. He was new, not exactly a foreign student, even though he was from England, just new to the district because of a move for his current parents.

Once he was dressed in his usual jeans and white shirt, he made his way out of the room, down some stairs into his own mini kitchen. At once his blue eyes noticed a pink note on the fridge from Marg, his new mother. Out too lunch with your father, school started an hour ago. If you don't go in please let us know so we can call you in. Please be safe. If you need anything call me. We restocked your fridge yesterday, you should have enough for lunch for the next couple of days. Love, Mom He rolled his eyes. He'd never dealt with a mother that cared this much for a boy who never talked to them. At least not the past week he had moved in with them.

Noel moved through the room, the light touching him in ways it would not human, only highlighting the best parts of his features, his beautiful eyes and lovely golden hair. Once he was finished and packed for school he began to walk there, knowing the directions well from the other day when he was to follow his parents there and back home. On his way through there he passed a couple of houses, and spotted Kodaka with a strange creature he had not seen before. Deciding to keep to himself, the boy continued toward the school, seeing the airport in the far distance, being fairly bigger than a dot on the horizon. For a moment he pause, and thought about home, the memories flashing past his eyes, rendering him to a paralyzed state for a period of time.

She looked over seeing the school and walked toward it. She figured the least she could do was check in at the school to get her classes and courses. She got to the school looking around. She had no idea where in heck she was supposed to go or what she was supposed to do. She had her small bag witch thankfully looked like a backpack. She walked over to a school campus map looking at it feeling completely lost. She was also worried about asking for help for fear her irish accent might throw people off on what she was saying.

Modikai looked up, and tilted her head. "What?" She said in Japanese. Then it snapped to her. He's speaking English! Damn it. I'm going to be embarrassed by this, she swore. Her gaze shifted up to the male, and she waved her tail to float in the air. She sighed, and shook her head. "Sorry," she said, once again in Japanese, and she grabbed the stranger's cheeks to kiss him for about a moment. She parted quickly, her face red. "I'm sorry. I have to make lip contact to be able to speak different languages er- wait. AH! I'm giving out vital information! And yes, I always dress like this. It expresses my oddness." She tilted her head, grinning, but still was beet red.

Alcyone picked up the black cat, petting the slightly coarse hair. She frowned down at the cat "You need a bath...and a meal," she murmured to the cat, thinking of a name for him. She scrolled down the street heading back home, hoping her parents wouldn't be mad at her for not going to school. Although, they've gotten used to the fact that their only daughter is a scatter-brain and should have known better. The cat meowed catching her attention, she looked down at the stray with a questioning look before the cat slipped out of her arms.

"Where are you going??" she shouted to the cat before taking off after him. She grumbled to herself, feeling hunger pang in her empty stomach. I really should get something to eat... But she ignored the reasonable voice and kept running after the stupid cat.

Finally the cat stopped running away from her in the middle of a grassy patch, he started rolling around on the grass causing Alcyone to stop and stare at the cat in astonishment. Her auburn eyes wide with an array of emotion before she scowled at the cat and sat down next to him. "You, dear cat, are an idiot," she grumbled quietly. Pulling out her camera, she snapped a picture of the cat, whom she decided to call Grass, rolling around in the damp grass. A calm smile broke out across her face as she finally looked around her surrounds, she ended up quite close to the school and noticed a few people walking around, most of whom she didn't recognize. Being antisocial makes it hard for her to remember who people were. It was a calming image that soothed her emotions.

The girl looked up at Kodaka with a confused look on her face. "Nani?" Kodaka's eyes opened wide with surprise. 'She speaks Japanese? Great. How am I going to even communicate with her. I know some words and phrases, but not enough to actually communicate with her. It's better if I just left.' Kodaka was just about to turn and leave until he heard the green haired girl mumble something. "Gomen.." He knew what that meant. 'What was she apologizing for?' Without giving Kodaka any chance to react, the girl reached for his face, pulling him into a quick kiss. "Wait what are you-" Kodaka's protest was cut off by the girl's lips and as they parted Kodaka stood there not knowing what to do or say. 'D-did I just receive my first kiss from this odd looking girl that I haven't even met?' Finally gathering his wits, the boy shook his head. "W-what the hell was that for?!" "I'm sorry. I have to make lip contact to be able to speak different languages er- wait. AH! I'm giving out vital information!" Vital information? Lip contact? What was this girl talking about? But then it struck him. She was speaking English. She wasn't just speaking it, she was speaking it as fluently as him. The girl was obviously embarrassed the way her face turned a deep red and Kodaka felt his own face getting a bit colored. "And yes, I always dress like this. It expresses my oddness." It seemed as if the girl was trying to change the subject. Kodaka sighed. It was already to late to just walk off. This was getting weirder by the second. Kodaka held his hand up. "Stop... Your talking to fast. Who are you?"

"Modikai Kokanimi, fluent English and Japanese speaker. Atleast..I know English now." She muttered, and floated a little ways from him so she isn't so close and it doesn't seem odd. "Ah. It feels so much better to speak English. I may seem odd, but I have a reason. Do not tell anyone, or I'll make your insides turn upside down." Modikai said, and she floated closer to him. "I'm like this because I'm a demon." She floated away off again, smirking. "Also, don't think that I'm a clown. God. I've had kids run up to hug me faster than a mouse eats cheese," she snickered at her metaphor.

"Who are you?" She asked.

Noel managed his way onto the school court-yard and paused when he felt a spirit around him that was similar to his own. His eyes scanned the nearby area, and he spotted a girl playing with a little black cat. It was his first day at the school so he didn't know who she was, and frankly , he was not in the mood to find out either. Then he spotted Anya staring at a map of the school. It was curious that another student would have to study a map so close to figure anything out.

"Lost?" he asked, stepping up behind her, speaking his first word since being adopted and brought to Edenbrook. He noticed then that she was a transfer student and pointed at a spot on the wall. "There..." he said simply, as if it explained everything.

Now that was not what he was expecting. A demon? Was she screwing with him? She did look a bit odd and the way she moved didn't quite seem.... normal. But demons, if they existed or not, weren't supposed to look like this. Kodaka just watched the girl ramble on casually. Even if she was a demon. Would one just say so so plainly? This was almost to much for the young boy to handle. He would have to talk some sense into this lunatic before things got out of hand. "Who are you?" She asked plainly. Kodaka narrowed his eyes. "Kodaka Kurenai. But let me get this straight. You believe your a.... demon? Like the ones that are invisible, going around causing mischief in peoples lives for fun or if someone gets you angry. Like the ones that posses people? Your trying to tell me your one of those? Because if you are, your not convincing me one bit."

A stressed-out vein appeared on her head, when you see in animes.
"If you don't believe me, baka, look at my TAIL." She swung around, and waved her devil tail in his face.

"Does that convince you dear?" She rolled her eyes, smirking. "And if that doesn't," she continued. "Look." The girl slapped her tail against the cement, and began floating in the air to reach his eye level. Modikai folded her legs in a criss-cross apple-sauce position and sat, her hands on her thighs.

Kodaka blinked. She could move that thing? When he first spotted it, he thought that the tail was probably just a part of her belt or something but as she waved it at him, Kodaka was pretty confused. The thing that got him the most was when the girl all of a sudden started floating. Now THAT was not normal. Glancing around nervously, Kodaka noticed a few people looking their way. This was bad. With a grunt the boy, snatched the girl out of the air where she was floating cross legged. She was surprisingly light and Kodaka ran, carrying her behind the nearest tree. Setting her down at the foot of the stump he glared at her. "You're the baka! Even if you are a demon. Do you really want people to see you floating around like that?! Before you know it, they'll be calling the cops and you'd probably be on your way to a mental hospital!"

The girl shrugged. "So what? I'm already considered mental. I don't care. I'm not very fond of people anyway. Prolly just sit in a corner and play with my tail." Modikai couldn't help but snicker. "Shineba iinoni, those stupid idiots who call me a freak. Reminds me of that song by Kaito from Vocaloid..him and his ice-cream filled days." Modikai blinked. "Damn it. ADHD. I swear, I think I'm getting it."

Modikai sighed. "Why do you care what others think anyway? They're just judgmental idiots." The demon continued floating.

Considered mental? This girl was BEYOND mental! Kodaka watched the girl demon ramble again. Vocaloid? Kaito? What does a demon know about Vocaloid? Kodaka rolled his eyes. "ADHD? You probably have something worse. And being judgmental about your.... appearance is way different from being judgmental if your human or not. You don't see people floating around everyday." Kodaka decided to ignore the floating. People wouldn't notice her from here. This was getting out of hand. The girl... demon.... or whatever she was, probably didn't give a damn about what he said. Kodaka turned his back to the demon. Kodaka glanced back at her over his shoulder. "Tch, I've wasted my time trying to talk some sense into you. Don't come running to me when you've got the government on your tail wanting to do tests and experiments on you."

"Wait!" She called, extending a hand to grab his shoulder. "I don't like being alone much. I mostly hang out with ravens and different animals other than humans. And I've found someone that atleast will not call me a freak. If you want, if it annoys you, I could get rid of my tail and not float.." she said, her tail swaying then diving into her shorts and she fell to the ground on her knees. She looked up.

"I'd like to get to know you. To start off, I really love anime. I've finished a lot of series.."

Geez.... This girl was too much. Her personality changed drastically from a hard headed, annoying brat to a pitiful, lonely girl, who just wanted to be talked to. Kodaka let out a sigh. What was he to do? The way she begged him not to leave and that pitiful look she gave him was almost kind of..... cute. He didn't dare say that aloud. What the hell. He had nothing better to do. His friends knew that he had a bad soft spot for girls like this and they teased him for always liking the weird girls. But this was TOTALLY different. She wasn't even human! But even so, Kodaka knew he couldn't just leave her there. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. Not turning around, Kodaka opened his mouth. "Get up. Being all pitiful and helpless like that doesn't suit you. Let's go." Just to be safe, Kodaka decided to take her to his house. Even though it was kind of strange bringing a girl to his house, he lived alone so no one would see her. His parents lived back in Japan and rented a house here for him to live and go to school. I really don't know what I'm getting myself into. This isn't like me at all!

Modikai grinned, and got up, following the male to his house. The demon continously thought to herself. I wonder what we're gonna do. Talk? Watch anime? Ooh. I wonder if he knows any other languages. PFFT. Wait. What am I saying?! Gross! Why would I wanna do that again? But I have to admit, he's pretty cute for a huma- shut up Modikai. He's only taking you to his house because you're annoying. What? Is that true? FFFF. I'm in trouble. Her eye twitched slightly from the conversation in her head.

She jumped slightly hearing someone speak behind her. She turned looking at the boy. She looked him in the eyes instantly knowing what he was he was like her. It was a relief to know she was not the only one but thought it strange that he would be here. She smiled slightly and nodded. "yes i am lost its my first day in this country period and well its rather complicated" her accent was soft but still noticeable especially since she was not trying to hide it. "oh and I am Anya by the way" She held out her hand toward him.

Kodaka didn't really say anything to the girl the whole way to his house. He only pointed out things she asked about or answered what it was like here in the little town. He would ask his questions later. But what could he say? She was a demon for crying out loud! Besides her tail, pale skin and eyes, she looked pretty human. 'I wonder where she came from?'

Finally arriving at his home, Kodaka stopped at his door. "Well, here it is. Nothing much, but it's a house." He opened the door and stepped inside. The all to familiar white walls greeted him with their boring color. The entrance to the house was connected to the living room by a small, short walkway. The living room wasn't to fancy but it was still cozy. Three couches with a table in the middle of them sat in the very center with a television set on the far wall. Things were scattered here an there such as clothing, wrappers, plates. His computer and headphones were on the table surrounded with various manga books and anime DVDs. "Sorry. I wasn't expecting a guest." Kodaka began picking things up here and there. "Make yourself at home."

"Manga! Anime!" was the first thing she spouted out, as she dashed towards the anime CDs and began staring at them with interest. "Any Soul Eater? Elfen Lied? Ginga Denetsu Weed? Nabari No Ou? YuYu Hakusho? Eeep." The demon girl clapped her hands together in delight. She began looking through the mangas. "Hmm..I wonder if there's any Genshiken.." she murmured, her eyes wide and and she was practically drooling. "Toradora..Wolf's Rain..Hetalia..Death Note...ahmygosh." She said in a run-on, her eyes glittering.

"This is so cool," she blurted, grinning.
