Jayson is cold and distant to those she views as distrustful. When she's her usual self she's kindhearted, friendly, and protective. She doesn't trust easily and has a problem with being touched by those she does not trust. Jayson cares deeply for her friends but is known to be secretive to even them. She won't speak about her past to anyone unless she has absolute trust in that person. When angered she becomes easily violent. She is a known troublemaker which is the reason for her police and long school records. It takes a lot for her to actually and truthfully admit that she cares or trusts a person and also a sign of this would be is she allows you to touch her or if she does things such as hugging or holding hands with someone. She is also sometimes bad at expressing her emotions.

History:
Jayson lived a very troubled childhood. Her father after abusing her since she was a year old up until she was five abandoned her and her mother. Jayson's mother, Victoria, re-married soon after that to her long time secret lover. Jayson was abused by her step-father while her mother watched and did nothing. She had pleaded with her mother so many times to help her but all her mother did was hit her and called her a weak pathetic excuse for a human. Jayson endured the abuse up until the beginning middle-school. One day when Jayson was nine her mother and step-father got into a heated argument when her mother picked up a knife. Jayson watched, frozen in fear, as they struggled for the knife. Jayson snapped out of it and tried to stop both of them but her step-father got the knife first and killed Victoria. Jayson witnessed the gruesome scene and watched as her step-father then came at her but thankfully the police showed up and he was taken into custody. After a gruesome trial and the revelation of her step-father's ganf activity he was only sentenced to twelve years due to a plead deal.

Ever since then Jayson had been in and out of foster homes. She would runaway after enduring the abuse of her different foster-parents several times. It was up until she moved back to her home-town after a year of going in and out of foster homes that she had finally found a foster home where she hadn't been abused or exposed to extreme violence. Even then Jayson was badly damaged. She had a cutting problem when she was ten until she was fourteen. She had relapsed, unable to handle the abuse and memories. Jayson is distant to her foster family even now. She hasn't gotten close to many for fear that they may hurt her. Now Jayson doesn't cut but she has several scars on her arms and legs. Some of the scars are burns that are a mixture of self-inflicted and having been inflicted by someone else while her other scars are cuts.

So begins...

It was December fifth and it had still yet to snow. This ended up being a good thing for Landon Harper since he was currently on a flight headed back to his hometown in North Carolina. The twenty-two year old was sitting in his seat, watching those around him. It seemed that he wasn't the only one heading home for the holidays. He'd been lucky so far and no one had recognized him. For once he was quite glad of this. Calm Intensity, Landon's band, had just gotten off of their tour and though Landon had loved every moment of it, he was feeling more tired than he could ever remember being. The singer leaned back in his seat, making himself as comfortable as he could be on a plane. He still had some time until they would reach their destination. It had been a very long time since Landon had been home. After he had graduated high school, it hadn't been too long before his band began gaining popularity. They's soon decided to move and that had been that. They'd never looked back. Landon's father had recently been in the hospital due to a recent heart attack. Though his father had been released from the hospital and the family had been told that the older man would be fine as long at he ate healthy and exercised, Landon had decided to come home to visit. He was feeling horrible about staying away for so long. Though he knew that he wouldn't have been able to help his father during his attack, Landon still felt as if it was somehow his fault. Pushing these thoughts from his mind, Landon closed his eyes and slowly fell to sleep.

Landon had arrived at his family's home three days earlier. His flight had been quite uneventful besides the fact that Landon had been thinking about his family a bit more than usual. If he was honest with himself, Landon wasn't too keen on staying with his family. His mother and father had slowly began accepting the fact that Landon wasn't going to go to college but instead continue on his current path. Their once strained relationship was finally beginning to heal. The one person that Landon hadn't made amends with, was his younger brother. The two really hadn't seen eye to eye in such a very long time. They had ended up being complete opposites. Landon could honestly say that he couldn't recall the last time the two boys had carried out a calm conversation.

Landon was currently walking throughout the small town. He'd had to make sure and grab a jacket seeing as how cold it had gotten over the past few days. He was sure that it was going to snow anytime. Landon smiled to himself as he walked. He'd promised his mother that he would be back soon. The woman had feared that her son was going to go off to do drugs or something equally as bad. Landon had only wanted to get out of the confining building. As he walked, he came across one of the local coffee shops. He entered and made his way to the counter. There was a line and so the young man got in it. It didn't take long for him to reach the counter. He ordered and paid. Walking with his coffee in hand, Landon found a seat in the far back. He was surprised not a single person had recognized him or..if they had they were trying to leave him alone. As he sat in the coffee shop, Landon couldn't help but wonder when the rest of the band would be arriving in Gold Town. When they did, the boys had already decided that they would need to get back to work on their next album. It was then that a small girl walked up to Landon, eyeing him. "E'scuse me? Aren't you Landon Harper? From Calm Intensity?" the girl asked. Landon smiled at the girl. "I am..and who might you be?" he asked gently. The girl introduced herself as Amy and as one of the band's 'biggest' fans. Landon had laughed lightly at this. The girl was too cute. He allowed the girl's parents to take a photo of the two of them together. After that, he was alone again. He remained sitting, enjoying his coffee. Now that someone had recognized him, he was getting looks from those that were in the coffee shop. Landon chose to ignore them. He was getting fairly used to the looks.

Landon, lost in thought, began thinking about a girl that he'd went to school with. Jayson Goldsworthy. He'd always tried to talk to the girl but to no avail. It wasn't until their last year in school that Landon had finally left her alone. He'd always been attracted to her and yet for some reason she just would never give him the time of day. Now that he was thinking of her again, Landon wondered what had happened to Jayson. Was she even still living in Gold Town? What Landon didn't notice was that the very girl that he was thinking about had just walked into the coffee shop.

Jayson had woken up to a very rude awakening. She was staying with her foster family for the holidays as she lived on the other side of town. She slept in her old room and was so far having somewhat of a good time. Her foster-sister's son was hyper as usual and this morning he had jumped on her bed to wake her up. When she had finally woken up she turned to the twelve year old. "What do you want Austin?" she asked, trying to wipe the sleep from her eyes.

"Coffee of course." The boy simply replied. She sighed heavily. "Where's your mom can't she get it for you?" Jayson spoke lightly as she sat up and stretched. "She's at work and besides you're the only one willing to go to that specific coffee shop that sells it the way I love." the boy spoke with a bit of exaggeration but none the less she sighed once more before nodding. "Fine I'll get coffee. I'm sure I could use some as well." The boy grinned joyfully when he saw her stand up. "Yay thinks Auntie-Jay." He said happily before exiting her room. Jayson would've commented on what he called her but he had already left and she saw no point. Jayson had grabbed her towel then headed for the bathroom connected to her room. She had quickly showered and brushed her teeth before exiting the bathroom and going back into her room. After a bit she was finally dressed and ready to go. After grabbing her phone, her wallet, and her ipod. She had put them in her back pocket and left.

She had walked to the coffee listening to music as she walked. When a song from Calm Intensity came on she couldn't help but think of one of her old schoolmates, Landon Harper. She disliked how many girls had fawned on him and she refused to be like them. He tried to talk to her but she never replied to him. Now that she had gotten older she slightly regretted it but as of right now from what she knew he was off living it nice with his band. Thats why when she had walked into the coffee shop and saw him there she felt utter shock.

Landon glanced up after hearing the small bell that was hanging above the door go off. He hadn't been expecting to see the very woman that he'd just been thinking about. As Landon watched the woman from afar, he debated with himself as to whether or not he should try and speak with her. She'd always made it quite clear to him that she wanted nothing to do with him. So, why should he expect anything to be different now? Well, he had money and fame now. That could easily change someone's mind. Landon sighed softly, turning his eyes back to his drink. He should probably just ignore her and yet he couldn't. His eyes had found her back once again. He decided to wait until the woman had paid the cashier before he stood. The young handsome man slowly made his way towards Jayson. He could tell that there were still a few sets of eyes upon him but he paid them no mind. The only thing that he was concerned with was the woman he had tried so hard to get close to all those years ago. He approached her from the side and stopped a comfortable distance away from her. "Jayson Goldsworthy. I don't think that I've spoken to you since the last time you shot me down." he said laughing. Landon noted that he was now a inch taller than the girl. All through most of school, Landon had always been the shortest. He almost couldn't believe that he was taller than the woman near him. He recalled the last time that he had asked her out.

It had been a wonderful week for Landon. He'd found out that he was going to pass the eleventh grade. His band was beginning to get some steam behind it. He'd even been getting along a bit better with his parents. Landon had gotten to school earlier than was usual for him. He had waited by Jayson's locker all morning until she'd finally showed up. He'd remained close to her, eyeing her with his golden eyes. "So..I'm playing a gig at the Underground. You know, that old bar downtown? I wanted to see if you wanted to come with me? We could hang out afterwards or whatever you want to do." Landon had asked. He'd been able to tell that the girl was going to shoot him down once again. And she had. He'd watched as she'd walked away from him as the bell had rung signaling the beginning of class. Landon's face had fallen only after he was the only one left in the hallway. He'd not went to any classes that day and had even wondered if the girl had noticed that he was missing since they had had several classes together.

It was after that moment in time that Landon had decided that if Jayson wanted anything to do with him that she would have to come to him. She never did. Now, thinking about these things, Landon wasn't surprised that she'd never wanted to go out with him. He had been completely focused on his band. He'd really not had much time for girls anyway. Landon focused his golden eyes back to Jayson, bringing himself back to the present. "How have you been? You're still living here? I'd thought that surely you would have left a long time ago. You never really seemed to like it here.." he said smiling. It was then that Landon noticed the boy that was standing near Jayson. "And who is this?" he asked kindly, smiling once again. Landon was curious as to why he was even bothering to talk to the woman. He knew that nothing would ever come out of it.

Jayson had just finished paying for her and her 'nephew's coffee when Landon had come up to her. "Landon Harper long time no see. I've been good and I guess this place found it way to grow on me. How have you been?" in her high school memories the most memorable thing was his attempts at dating her. The first time he did had briefly popped into her head.

Jayson had been late to school once again and had to go to the main office for a late slip. She noticed someone she had known of from around the school and quickly remembered his name. "Landon Harper right?" She asked. Jayson hadn't seen anyone else there so she hoped that maybe he'd know where the secretary was. "Do you know where everyone is?" this had been the first time she had spoken to anyone in the school as she preferred to be sort of a lone wolf. After asking him the question she had regretted it when he proceeded to ask her out after telling her the secretary's were out for the moment. Jayson turned him down not giving it much of a second thought until later on.

Jayson shook her head free of nostalgia as Landon directed a question at her. "Oh him? He's my nephew who decided it'd be okay to follow me to the coffee shop." She said knowing Austin could hear as he was now standing beside her.

"Auntie Jay who's that?" He asked eyeing Landon. "He's a friend from high school." she answered. Jayson knew it'd be too complicated to explain to a twelve-year-old so she just stuck to calling him a friend. Austin eyed him once more. "Hey mister you seem familiar haven't I seen you before?" Austin asked causing Jayson to raise an eyebrow at him. "Since when do you listen music often?" She asked Austin making him snort at her. "Sorry Landon don't mind him."

Landon listened as Jayson spoke to him. "Oh him? He's my nephew who decided it'd be okay to follow me to the coffee shop." The young man laughed lightly and smiled. he doubted that if Nick, his brother, ever had children that he'd be allowed to have anything to do with them. That is, unless the brothers made amends before hand. Of course, Nick also had a different girlfriend almost every other week it seemed. Landon then turned his attention to Jayson's nephew as the boy asked the woman who he was. Landon was interested in hearing what Jayson had to say to that. "He's a friend from high school." the woman said. Landon looked at Jayson briefly before noticing that the boy was eyeing him again. "Hey mister you seem familiar haven't I seen you before?" he asked. Landon laughed as Jayson spoke to Austin and then apologized to him. "No, it's all right. I really don't mind." he said to Jayson. "You may have seen me before. I'm in a band, actually. Perhaps that's why I look familiar? " Landon asked the younger boy. Landon was smiling once again at the two people before him. He was surprised that Jayson had spoken to him at all. He was glad, though.

The young man eyed Jayson again. "So, at the chance of sounding like a complete idiot, how would you two like to join me? I'm trying to stay out of the house for a bit. Which..I'm afraid is a bit hard to do on your own. Anyway I was planning on just staying here but that might be hard to do..I'm already getting some strange looks." he said. Landon watched Jayson, sure that the woman was going to say no as she always had. He wasn't really sure what had driven him to ask her in the first place. She was most obviously spending time with the boy at her side so why would she want to spend time with Landon, whom she really didn't know? Landon kept his golden eyes focused upon Jayson. His gaze was unwavering and intense.

Jayson thought about Landon's offer for a second before looking over at Austin. "Aunt-Jay I'm not sticking around for your date." He teased and she elbowed him lightly. "Austin it isn't a date. It would just be us catching up is all." Jayson said trying to convince herself of that fact more than Austin. Austin shrugged. "Either way I'm outta' here." with that said the young boy quickly left the coffee shop. "Well I might as well stay. Like I said we could catch up a bit." She smiled at him slightly before walking over to where she saw him previously sitting.

"So how have you been?" She asked, sitting down across from his seat. She listened to his band's song and had even been inspired by some of them. She knew of his popularity but didn't care much about it. Landon had never been a person she knew all too well so she thought that there was no time better than the present. "It seems you've been pretty busy since graduation." She added looking over at him as she took a sip of her coffee. The last time she saw him was actually at graduation and she saw he was in his own world so she didn't want to intrude by talking to him. She had never dreamed that he'd ever come back to Gold town.

Landon watched Jayson closely as the woman spoke with her nephew. As the boy quickly made his way out of the shop, Jayson said, "Well I might as well stay. Like I said we could catch up a bit." Landon smiled at the woman brightly as she made her way over to the table he'd been sitting at earlier. Landon followed the woman and took to sitting in the same seat that he'd been in before. As Jayson sat down, the woman asked how Landon had been. The man had been about to reply when Jayson had continued speaking. "It seems you've been pretty busy since graduation." A brilliant smile broke across Landon's handsome face. "I've been really good. Very busy, though. We actually just finished our first real tour. It was insanely awesome. The reason that I'm back, though, is because of my Dad. He recently had a heart attack and I felt like I needed to come back for a bit. Besides, I need to begin working on our next album. Where better to do that then where the band originated from?" he said, smiling. The man kept his golden eyes upon Jayson. He still couldn't believe that the woman had stayed behind to speak with him, even if it was only for a short while.

As Landon took another drink of his coffee, he thought of the moment when he'd found out about his father's heart attack. The band had just finished one of their final concerts of the tour. Landon almost hadn't been able to comprehend what his mother was telling him on the phone. His mother had insisted that his father was fine but Landon had insisted upon returning home as soon as the tour was finished at the end of that week. Landon focused back on the present. "So, tell me how you've been? Anything new happening? I can't imagine it being too exciting around here..not too many people left to cause any trouble now that I'm gone." he said laughing lightly. Landon was smiling once again..though he couldn't help but wonder what had truly cause Landon and his friends to act out as they had when they'd been in school. Surely there had to be a reason. It mattered little now. He'd grown up quite a bit over the past few years.

Jayson listened intently to what he said. "Wow you really have been busy. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your father and I hope he's better." She spoke with complete seriousness. "I've been good. I live across town I'm visiting my family for the holidays. Anyway I doubt you want to continue sitting here and listening to all of that. You must still be busy." She stood up after speaking. Jayson in a way felt like a nuisance. He already had been busy so she didn't want to be a bother. "Oh and to be honest I'm a fan of your music." She smiled lightly at him after saying that.

Her words had been true. She had listened to there songs and even bouth their album. She knew Landon was famous now and the things that happened in high school didn't stop her from listening to their songs quite often. Also it wasn't everyday one gets to see their former school mate on an album cover or on posters and flyers. She was happy for him but thought it may be best to keep a certain distance from him as she knew he must've had a lot to deal with already. To her she seemed as nothing more than history to him. The money and fame wasn't what had impressed her either. To Jayson the songs his band made were sincere and meant something to her.

Landon watched as Jayson stood up, presumably to make her way from him. He remained silent for a moment as the woman was still speaking. "Oh and to be honest I'm a fan of your music." For some reason, Jayson's statement made Landon smile. "I'm glad. Now, if we're being honest..I've something to tell you." he said smiling. Landon remained sitting even though he probably did need to get back to his parents' house. He looked up at Jayson, his gold eyes staring at the woman near him. "You've heard my song 'You Left Me In the Dark'?" he asked. He then stood up, walking around the table and only stopping once he was standing beside of Jayson. "It's about you." Landon watched Jayson closely as he told her his secret. He recalled when he'd first written the song. The guys had bothered him for a long time trying to figure out who Landon had written about. Even now, Jayson was the only one he'd ever told who he'd written about. "Well, I suppose I should be heading back. Here.." he said handing Jayson a small piece of paper. "I'll be in town for at least a few months. Maybe more. You can text or call me if you decide that you want to hang or something. I'll see you." he said walking away from the woman. He glanced back towards Jayson, smiling. He then quickly turned back to facing forward, making his way out of the coffee shop.

As Landon made his way down the street in the cold, he doubted that he would ever hear from Jayson. Especially after telling her how'd he had written at least one song about her. Landon gave his head a small shake trying to remove the thoughts from his mind. Landon continued on down the street, taking his time. He wasn't really looking forward to getting home. He'd luckily not had to deal with Nick much yet. He knew that he needed to talk to the teen but he'd been trying to decide upon the best way to do it. Plus, now that he'd seen Jayson, the one girl that he'd truly wanted to be with back in high school, he wasn't really sure what to do about her. He'd chased after her for several years until he'd finally realized that the girl just wanted nothing to do with him. It would most likely be the same this time around.

It had been about four days since Landon had seen Jayson. He'd not spent a single moment not thinking about that day in the coffee shop. He was currently laying in his old bedroom, staring up at the ceiling from his medium sized bed. He'd checked his phone many times over the past few days and still nothing from the woman. He sighed heavily and slowly moved to a sitting position. Landon pulled out a cigarette and lit it. He slowly took a few hits from the small stick. He knew that his mother wouldn't be happy if she found him smoking in the house. He smiled to himself at the thought. The older woman still attempted to tell him what to do. Landon would usually humor her..for the most part. His mother was still trying to get her sons to speak with each other and neither seemed ready to break the long silence that had been going on for some time. Landon decided to check his phone once again, hoping that perhaps the woman he'd long had feelings for had decided to finally give him a chance. Even if that was only speaking through messages.

Jayson had blushed lightly at his revealation. Had she listened to it? It was one of her favorite songs but it shocked her to think he'd actually written a song about her. Jayson had thought it was just some school boy crush that he had on her but never in her wildest dream would she have thought it was more than that. Even so as Jayson made her descent home she felt utter joy knowing he'd written a song about her. She made sure she had the piece of paper he'd given her in a safe place when she got home. Austin kept asking her questions about what happened in the coffee shop but she was too consumed in her own thoughts. In high school she had rejected him many times not really thinking twice about it but now was different.

Over the next four days she had seen more of her family as they had dragged her around town. Most of the time she couldn't help but think of Landon. As of right now she was sitting on her bed in the room that was saved for her in her foster family's home. She was writing a few lyrics down that had come to mind. Next to her lied the family dog distracting her momentarily as he moved. With the distraction came the idea to text Landon. She felt nervous at first and questioned whether or not he'd actually reply. With a sigh she finally texted him, 'Hey, Landon it's Jayson how've you been lately?'. She had sent the text before she could think twice about it.

As Landon was checking his phone, he received a message from a number that he didn't know. He quickly opened the message and read it quickly. A smile quickly made its way to his handsome face. He couldn't believe that Jayson had actually messaged him. He decided to wait a few short amount of time before beginning to write her back. He didn't want her to know that he'd been watching for her to message him. Landon began typing out a short message. 'Hey. Pretty good. I've been successfully avoiding my brother so no wars have been fought in the Harper house as of yet. Of course, if there had been I would have won. ;3 How have you been? Anything exciting happening on your end?' And sent. Landon smiled to himself, finishing off his cigarette. He then thought about asking the woman if she would want to do something with him. Seeing as how he hadn't received a reply yet, Landon began typing up another message. 'So, I know that I probably shouldn't ask you this but I think that I'm going to. Would you like to do something sometime? Like..it wouldn't even have to be a date, if you didn't want it to be. I'd just like to get to know you better. Sorry, I'm probably sounding crazy.' Landon sent the second message to Jayson.

After he'd sent the message, Landon got up off of his bed, taking his phone with him. He slowly made his way over to his desk. He sat down and turned on his computer. He began surfing the internet and even began writing a message to the guitarist of the band to find out when all of the guys would be arriving in North Carolina. Landon began scrolling through a few news websites, seeing a few articles about Calm Intensity. The articles were talking about the band's path to fame and spoke about each member of the band. The article had even named Landon as the most eligible bachelor in California. Landon just shook his head. Even though he wasn't dating anyone, he still only had eyes for one girl. Thinking about Jayson again, he wondered if she'd seen any of the articles and if so..what did she think? He doubted that he would ever know.

Jayson had gone back to writing lyrics when she suddenly heard the chime of her phone. She checked her phone and saw two messages from Landon. She smiled as she read through them and replied back. 'I've been good still staying with family for another day or so. Its good to hear that and hear from you again. Sorry for texting you after so long and yes I'd like to get to know you better oh and no I don't think you sound crazy.'. After sending it she couldn't help but smile at the thought of getting to know him better. Jayson had grabbed her laptop and went online to check her email when she saw a pop-up to an article about Calm intensity. She bit her lip at she quickly thought about reading it or not. She couldn't help it and clicked on the pop-up. She read through the article and read that Landon was the most eligible bachelor in California.

This made Jayson think about if whether or not Landon was always being harassed by paparazzi like many celebrities. She shook her head at the thought thinking that if he did have did have the press bothering him they would've been seen by now. She stood up and went over to her closet thinking about what she could wear to go see him. 'Is this a date?' the thought about it and shrugged. 'Maybe it is.' she thought further.

Landon looked down as his phone lit up. He read the message that Jayson had sent him, smiling. He quickly sent back another message. 'No worries. I'm sure that your family has kept you busy. That's awesome to hear! So, I was thinking..since it's not too cold out right now that we could meet at the Lake? Maybe around five? We could hang for a bit and then grab something to eat?' Landon slowly got out of his chair and made his way over to his small closet. He began looking through the clothing that he'd not worn since some time after he'd graduated from high school. He really should have brought some of his newer clothing. He sighed softly before deciding on a outfit. He made his way back to his bed and sat back down. He could hear his family all having a good time downstairs in the main area of the house. Landon wished that it would have been simple to just go downstairs and spend time with them. He would have to try to figure out what to do about his brother. He really did need to settle things with the younger boy. He wondered what would happen when he did finally decide to speak to Nick. The younger boy would most likely yell and say quite a few mean things. Perhaps they would even end up physically fighting. He wasn't sure. All that Landon knew was that he had quite a bit to do before he could go back to California.

Landon quickly sent another message to Jayson. 'If I don't reply back to you for a bit, I might be in the middle of World War Three. Wish me luck. I'm going to attempt to speak with my brother. Which..is probably a mistake but needs to be done.' Landon made his way downstairs and into the living room. As he entered the room went quiet. Nick was eyeing him and his parents were watching their sons. Landon took a deep breath before saying anything. "Look, dude, I think that we need to talk." Landon said. Nick only glared at his brother. "Why? So you can go on about your perfect life and how I am always bringing you down? No thanks." the younger boy said, walking out of the house. Landon followed his brother, easily catching up with him. Landon quickly grabbed onto his brother's wrist, trying to stop him. Nick quickly turned around, glaring once again. "What do you want Landon? I don't know why you're trying to talk to me, but..I just really don't want anything to do with you." Nick said. "That's exactly what I want to talk to you about,Nick. Why don't you want to talk to me? I understand that we haven't ever really gotten along, and that's partially my fault, but I'm trying. If you could just tell me why you hate me so much." he said. Nick began getting angrier as Landon spoke. The younger boy had never gotten along with his brother and he didn't see why Landon was trying to get him to speak with him..to make up. Nick then began calling Landon many hurtful things. Even began threatening the older boy. By the end of their discussion, they'd gotten into a small fight. Luckily, Nick had only been able to land a single hit upon his lip, busting the right side of his lower lip. The boys' father had broken the children up. Landon was furious. He'd only been trying to make things better between Nick and him. Landon had allowed his mother to help clean him up after the fight, putting up with the lecturing. He quickly made his way back up to his room and flopped down on his bed. He pulled out his phone, checking to see if he had any new messages.

Jayson had sat back down giving up momentarily of trying to find an outifit. She sighed before checking her phone again seeing a new message. She read through it and knew it was like to go through such a thing. Ever since becoming part of her foster family a few years ago Jayson and her older foster sister,Lexi, were always fighting when they were younger. They would fight for hours saying cruel things to each other and it wasn't until Jayson had graduated high school that they had finally begun to get along. Jayson had gone through something that Landon had described with his sibling. After getting over the nostalgia that washed over her she replied back to what he said.

'The lake sounds great. I hope everything works out for you and your brother.' she sent it quickly before going back over to her closet and finally deciding on an outfit outfit she headed to the bathroom and showered. She had gotten dressed and fixed her hair leaving it loose. She had deemed herself ready now all that was left was to meet Landon at the lake.

Landon read the message that Jayson had sent at some point during his fight with Nick. He quickly wrote Jayson back. 'Great! and thanks..I'll be over there soon.' He sent the message and remained laying upon his bed for a few more moments. He just couldn't understand why Nick wouldn't listen. He sighed heavily before slowly getting off of his bed. Landon made his way over to his closet once again and quickly dressed. Landon had decided to wear jeans, converse, a black and red flannel shirt, and a black coat. After he'd dressed, Landon made his way into his bathroom and quickly fixed his hair. As he stood in front of the mirror, Landon looked at his busted lip. It at least wasn't swollen but he was sure that it would hurt worse the next day. It was times like these that Landon wished so badly that he'd taken up some sort of sport in high school. Nick wouldn't have messed with him if he had. There wasn't anything he could do now and he'd just have to meet Jayson looking like he did.

Landon grabbed his phone, car keys, pack of cigarettes, and his lighter. He quickly made his way down the stairs and had almost made it out the door when his mother stopped him. "Where are you going? You're going to miss dinner." she asked softly. Landon tried to smile, "I'm meeting a friend tonight. Sorry..I was going to tell you earlier.." he trailed off. Luckily his mother to ask any more questions. Landon bid her farewell and made his way out to his parents' old car. He quickly got in and slowly began making his way to the Lake. Landon was hoping that since it was December that hopefully there wouldn't be too many tourists there. He pulled into the small parking lot that had been set aside for the Lake many years ago. He parked and noticed that he'd made it to the Lake before Jayson. He got out of the car and slowly made his way towards the lake. He eventually came across a fallen log and sat down upon it. As he sat, waiting for Jayson, Landon pulled out his phone. He began playing some random game that he had on it, to pass by the time. He really hoped that the woman would show up. He realized that she'd not really said if it was a date or not and Landon knew that he couldn't bring it up. He wondered, though. What would happen if it was? That was all that he'd worked for back in high school. He used to tell himself that if she would allow him one date..just one date that he would show her the most amazing time. Well, even if he wasn't sure what they were on..he would still do what he'd promised himself so long ago. He only hoped that Jayson wouldn't be angry with him.

Jayson read the text Landon sent and had soon made her way out of the house after putting her phone in her back pocket. She didn't think much of not telling her 'parents' where'd she be going as she saw no purpose to. She decided that it was nice enough that she'd just walk to the lake. From where she was the lake wasn't so far. As she walked to the lake her thoughts began to wander. Neither her nor Landn had actually called this a date. In high school she'd never would've even texted him to begin with let alone go to the lake with him. Things were different now. Why it was different was still yet to be determined. Jayson sighed as she walked passed a neighborhood she wished she didn't know but in actuality she knew it fairly well.

Years ago the neighborhood was on the news with name Goldsworthy plastered all over news stations and newspapers for a good two weeks. It was such a long time ago now not many remembered the story but for Jayson was a constant reminder even now. She shook her head to free herself of those thoughts. Right now she didn't want to show up to the lake upset. She soon made it to the lake and easily spotted Landon. "Boo." She said standing behind him. "Sorry if I made you wait long."

Sitting upon the old log, Landon jumped slightly upon hearing Jayson say 'Boo'. Landon took a moment to calm himself when Jayson continued speaking. "Sorry if I made you wait long." The man turned enough to be able to see the woman that had come up behind him. He smiled as brightly as he could with his injured lip. "No worries. I haven't been here too long. I actually left a bit early." he said, eyeing the woman. Landon moved, standing up from the log. He moved forward a bit, placing a bit of distance in between the two. "Come on. I figured that we could walk around for a bit." he said motioning for Jayson to join him. Landon waited for the woman to join him before he began slowly walking towards the shoreline of the Lake. Once upon the edge, Landon began walking around the large body of water. He was quiet for a bit, allowing Jayson to speak if she wanted to. They spent at least an hour walking around the Lake. Landon had begun talking more, asking questions such as what Jayson had been into or what she did for a living. Yes, these were silly things to ask but Landon was just so happy that the woman was spending time with him that the was asking things that were just popping into his head. He hoped that he wasn't sounding too silly to Jayson.

After a bit longer Landon spoke again, but this time he said, "Are you hungry? I was thinking that we could head over to the Brewery?" The Gold Town Brewery was well known around the town as having some of the best food and beer in all of town. It was one of the most popular places to eat. Landon slowly lead the way back to his car. He made his way over to the passenger's seat and opened the door for Jayson. He waited for her to get in before shutting the door. Landon then made his way over to the driver's seat and got in. He was surprised that the woman hadn't said anything yet about his lip. He'd been expecting her to say something during their walk but then again, he'd been spouting off questions left and right. The car ride was fairly silent, Landon choosing to not say anything for now. It would take them about fifteen minutes to arrive at the Brewery.

Jayson walked with him and answered the questions he asked. She had noticed his lip but said nothing as she didn't want to pry. When he offered to go to the brewery she excepted of course. This furthered her thinking of it being a date but this was also something she didn't mention. When they made it to the car and when he opened the door she smiled and thanked him a bit surprised by his actions. 'Here I thought chivalry was dead.' she thought briefly before buckling up. Silence had fallen during the drive but it wasn't really an awkward silence more like a comfortable silence. Jayson was happy so far and was glad of the outcome of things. She had wondered if it would've been the same in high school. Now that she had actually been out with him she didn't doubt a similar outcome.

Once they pulled up in front of the brewery she had unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car. She looked around happy with the place. It had been a place many spoke about either in town or in school but as students not many went as they weren't of legal age to have intake of alcoholic beverages and Jayson had just never found a reason to go there so she never did. Now that she has gone she was happy she did. It was nice and to her for some reason it seemed even nicer being there with Landon.

Landon shut off the car as Jayson was getting out of the car. He followed her, quickly making his way to her side. He watched the woman as she looked around at the Brewery. He smiled at Jayson, happy that she seemed happy with his choice. "I've only been here once, when me and the guys all had turned twenty-one. It was really good." he said softly. He led the way into the large building, making sure that Jayson was close. It seemed that even though it was well after when most townsfolk normally ate, there were still many people at the Brewery. Landon walked up to the podium that was sitting in the center of the entrance. The woman that was seating people was a former classmate of Landon's. Abigail Smith had been in Landon's group of friends for some time. Landon had even dated the girl after he'd given up on Jayson. Abi had sworn that she loved Landon and for some time, he'd believed her. He was almost too shocked to say anything when he realized who he would have to speak to to get Jayson and him seated. He hesitated for a moment and was almost sure that the girl near him had noticed. "How many?" Abi asked, not looking up from her board. Landon finally spoke after another moment of silence. "Two please." The red haired woman quickly wrote on her board, grabbed two menus and then finally looked up. She froze, staring at Landon. "What in the world are you doing here? I thought you were off in California living it up." The woman said, completely ignoring Jayson. Landon forced a smile, though it wasn't nearly as brilliant as when he smiled at Jayson. "I'm home for the holidays." he said, eyeing the woman.

It was then that Abi saw Jayson. "And what are you doing with her? I thought that you were too good for anyone from Gold Town." she said hatefully. Landon sighed softly. "Abi, I told you exactly why I wasn't going to let you come with me..why we had to break up. Besides, this really isn't the place for any of this." Landon said. Abi gave a huff and quickly led the couple to a table. Landon slid into the booth, watching the two women. Abi quickly placed the menus down, making sure to glare at Landon. "Well before you go back I expect you to call me so that we can talk." Abi said walking off. Landon looked down for a moment before focusing back on Jayson. "I'm sorry about Abi. I dated her for about a year and had actually planned on bringing her with me to California. I ended up finding out that she'd been cheating on me with a guy that used to be in the band. Needless to say I broke up with her that day and kicked Jake out of the band. I didn't..and still don't need that sort of thing in my life, you know?" he said, smiling.

Jayson had enetered the brewery with Landon slightly surprised by the amount of people but she didn't pay too much mind to it. When they approached the podium she saw a red-haired woman that seemed oddly familiar to her but Jayson couldn't place where she'd seen her. It wasn't until the woman said something directed at Jayson. At the woman's words Jayson shot a glare at her. "No I'm not too good for anyone here or anywhere its quite the opposite they're too good for me but I don't see how that's any of your business." Jayson spoke nonchalantly but still eyeing the woman. She was officially angered by the woman but refused to acknowledge her and didn't bother asking what her problem with her was. Jayson sat across from Landon and listened intently on his explanation. When he said her name the familiarity of the woman was finally recognized.

"I see and I understand but what I don't understand is what her problem with me is." Jayson stated before sighing. "In any case I say we just ignore it and enjoy well whatever this is." she said finally acknowledging the fact that she wasn't sure it it was a date or not.
