It was December fifth and it had still yet to snow. This ended up being a good thing for Landon Harper since he was currently on a flight headed back to his hometown in North Carolina. The twenty-two year old was sitting in his seat, watching those around him. It seemed that he wasn't the only one heading home for the holidays. He'd been lucky so far and no one had recognized him. For once he was quite glad of this. Calm Intensity, Landon's band, had just gotten off of their tour and though Landon had loved every moment of it, he was feeling more tired than he could ever remember being. The singer leaned back in his seat, making himself as comfortable as he could be on a plane. He still had some time until they would reach their destination. It had been a very long time since Landon had been home. After he had graduated high school, it hadn't been too long before his band began gaining popularity. They's soon decided to move and that had been that. They'd never looked back. Landon's
father had recently been in the hospital due to a recent heart attack. Though his father had been released from the hospital and the family had been told that the older man would be fine as long at he ate healthy and exercised, Landon had decided to come home to visit. He was feeling horrible about staying away for so long. Though he knew that he wouldn't have been able to help his father during his attack, Landon still felt as if it was somehow his fault. Pushing these thoughts from his mind, Landon closed his eyes and slowly fell to sleep.
Landon had arrived at his family's home three days earlier. His flight had been quite uneventful besides the fact that Landon had been thinking about his family a bit more than usual. If he was honest with himself, Landon wasn't too keen on staying with his family. His
mother and father had slowly began accepting the fact that Landon wasn't going to go to college but instead continue on his current path. Their once strained relationship was finally beginning to heal. The one person that Landon hadn't made amends with, was his younger
brother. The two really hadn't seen eye to eye in such a very long time. They had ended up being complete opposites. Landon could honestly say that he couldn't recall the last time the two boys had carried out a calm conversation.
Landon was currently walking throughout the small town. He'd had to make sure and grab a jacket seeing as how cold it had gotten over the past few days. He was sure that it was going to snow anytime. Landon smiled to himself as he walked. He'd promised his mother that he would be back soon. The woman had feared that her son was going to go off to do drugs or something equally as bad. Landon had only wanted to get out of the confining building. As he walked, he came across one of the local coffee shops. He entered and made his way to the counter. There was a line and so the young man got in it. It didn't take long for him to reach the counter. He ordered and paid. Walking with his coffee in hand, Landon found a seat in the far back. He was surprised not a single person had recognized him or..if they had they were trying to leave him alone. As he sat in the coffee shop, Landon couldn't help but wonder when the rest of the band would be arriving in Gold Town. When they did, the boys had already decided that they would need to get back to work on their next album. It was then that a small girl walked up to Landon, eyeing him. "E'scuse me? Aren't you Landon Harper? From Calm Intensity?" the girl asked. Landon smiled at the girl. "I am..and who might you be?" he asked gently. The girl introduced herself as Amy and as one of the band's 'biggest' fans. Landon had laughed lightly at this. The girl was too cute. He allowed the girl's parents to take a photo of the two of them together. After that, he was alone again. He remained sitting, enjoying his coffee. Now that someone had recognized him, he was getting looks from those that were in the coffee shop. Landon chose to ignore them. He was getting fairly used to the looks.
Landon, lost in thought, began thinking about a girl that he'd went to school with. Jayson Goldsworthy. He'd always tried to talk to the girl but to no avail. It wasn't until their last year in school that Landon had finally left her alone. He'd always been attracted to her and yet for some reason she just would never give him the time of day. Now that he was thinking of her again, Landon wondered what had happened to Jayson. Was she even still living in Gold Town? What Landon didn't notice was that the very girl that he was thinking about had just walked into the coffee shop.
