Setting
A perfect theocracy, the humans have no elected officials only clerics and priests of various ranks in the church hierarchy. Commoners have no say in governance and must follow the orders of their village priest lest they be accused of heresy. The humans accept this order because they are ruled by fear and see their religion as the only thing standing between them and damnation. Of course the ultimate authority is the King across the sea but even he is a puppet who owes his crown to the Grand Cleric.
Human life centers around farming though much of their work is done by mongrthal slaves. Although treated better than those in the other colonies they remain a commodity and are forced to give up any traditional spiritual beliefs under penalty of death.
Protecting the colony are the Paladin, an order of warrior clerics who channel the power of the One. Often mounted on warhorses and armored in steel, they make for quite a sight charging across a battlefield. Their divine magic, looked down upon as hedge sorcery by elves, is none the less an effective, albeit blunt, weapon.
