Personality

Real World Personality: Lydia is a hard worker by fault, she earned herself a living through her talents. She is a sarcastic, ambitious and smart college student who would rather earn her money herself rather than cheat her way through life. Honest and sharp, she does have a soft spot for her family even if she doesn't admit it often.

Fantasy World Personality: Ofayle is curious and adventurous, an unlucky combination. She is not humble nor arrogant, taking pride in what she does in life. She refuses to be called a coward, a button you would not want to press. Naive but strong, of angle lacks any street-smarts but relies on her instincts instead. Her greatest weapon is not her sword, it is her tongue.

History

Real Character Background: Born to a middle class family of high school sweethearts, Lydia is the eldest out of twelve girls. In her childhood, she lived in Long Island with her parents and growing number of sisters. Her father and mother worked as teachers in a nearby grade school. Lydia developed a passion for dancing, excelling in ballet especially. When Atheia was born, her mother left the family, saying that she couldn't handle it anymore and left her father devastated. She moved out to continue her dancing, getting a ballet scholarship at a New York University. She is currently in her last year and works as a waitress to pay the bills. While majoring in Ballet, she is also minoring in ICT and English Lit.

Fantasy Character Background: Ofayle was the eldest child of a duke and a lady, born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Living in the countryside in a large mansion with few visitors left Ofayle to find company in her family. She was close to all her sisters, twelve of them but they were all different as night and day. The only thing they had in common was a passion to dance. Other than that, she practiced her swordsmanship during the course of her life. She barely knew anything about life outside of home but when her mother mysteriously vanished, she had to take up the role of the mother at a young age. She promised never to leave her ill father or her sisters, no matter what.

Tired and stupid were the two feelings Lydia had felt that very night. The hostess called out to Lydia despite her busy schedule of waiting tables. She only took a moment's rest, barely even a few minutes as she tried to unwind. Her hair was tied into a neat ponytail that day but soon dissolved into a crazy bun. She closed her eyes for just a moment or at least that was what she thought. The hostess called her out and when she opened her eyes, she looked around, "Where the hell am I?" she asked before the hostess tossed her out of the kitchen and into the jungle called the restaurant.

She noticed a few men who had just came in and grabbed a few menus, "Great, men in suits. Such diversity here," she said under her breath, making her way over to them.

"Hello, I'm Lydia and I'll be your waitress for the day," She tried to greet with a smile but she failed. She placed the menus on the table, "So since you guys are pretty old in terms, I'm guessing I don't need to give you guys the set of rules. No harassing, no rude snaps or whatever and how I work is an eye-to-eye kind of deal. Be grateful to service so I don't need to spit in your food," then she gave a genuine smile.

"Now the lasagna is delicious," Lydia implied them to order it, not because it was delicious but because it was the most expensive dish there, "Do you want to order now or should I come back later?"

"Okay so that's two spaghetti with chicken balls, lamblyd steak, rare and a bottle of 1869 bottle of white wine," Lydia said what was down in her pad. She didn't wait for the men to nod their heads, she quickly left to give the order back into the kitchen. The hostess told her there was another table much to Lydia's displeasure. Her work pile was getting busier and busier. She walked over, a woman was there so she didn't need to make up the rules.

"Hello, I'm Lydia. I'll be your waitress," Lydia tried to smile, "Since you're a woman and probably not gay, I don't need to tell the basics here. Just remember, we have an eye-for-an-eye policy here so be warned on what you do,"

"So is there anything you want?"

"Alright then," Lydia took the menu and left to the kitchen. The woman was like every other woman she had encountered in the restaurant. Snooty, wealthy and looked down on her as if she was a second-class citizen. She gave the order to one of the chefs before huddling over to give the men their own food. It took only ten minutes until the lady's food was done. She was too tired, she didn't even bother to spit in it.

"Here you go," Lydia gave her the food and drink, "Anything else, let me know," she said before leaving. Her shift was almost over and she had classes anyway.

"You do realize the restaurant was down way before I entered?" Lydia asked the fat, middle-aged, balding man who sat on the chair, "I worked here since I entered school and now, you're firing me?" Lydia emphasized on how terrible it sounded and would love to make the man eat his words. She giggled a bit, holding back a laugh, "If you're going to fire me now, I guess the restaurant's harassment cases are going to go fly again," Oh, she knew about the restaurant's history. She read it up before she began to work.

"I'll continue working till Friday and I ask, no, demand for a severance package that includes additional payment based on months of service, payment for unused vacation time and sick leave, payment in lieu, insurance that includes medical, dental and life, stock and assistance to teach the newbies how to work while others go into your office," she counted with her fingers about how much the restaurant owed her, "Don't forget, I also have those unpaid extra-shifts and scrubbing the toilets. Seriously, why isn't Bi-Lisa doing that?"

She calculated it in her brain and smiled, "So that's about three thousand, two hundred and seventy-two dollars. Severance packages are expensive, y'know," she didn't wait for the man to explain himself.

"You will agree, have to anyway. Employees' final wish, right?" Lydia was a smart girl, she knew her numbers and how to do what she needs. She took her bag and left.

She wasn't going to cry, or feel anything. It hurt her like a boyfriend breaking up with you over his game consoles. She was a smart girl, got good grades in her classes and scholarship. Why would this affect her in anyway? Affect her enough to make her go into a bar and try to drown her sorrows away.

"A beer, please," she said to the bartender as she sat one of the stools.

"Anything that can get me drunk," Lydia tried to joke but even she thought it was stupid, "A Smoked beer," she said to the bartender. While waiting for her beer, she took out some papers from her classes. She had ICT in another three hours, she shouldn't get that drunk. Maybe just bring it with her.

"Can you dilute it just a tad bit?" she asked, "I'll have classes later anyway and I can't get kicked out,"

"Majoring in Ballet," Lydia admitted as she caught the beer, "But I'm minoring ICT and English Lit. as well. Always have something to fall back on anyways," the papers in her hand were notes, they had to revise on data programming. If the ballet part didn't pan out after a while, she could always work as a computer programmer or English Literature teacher. She drank a bit of her beer, reminding herself to call her dad and her sisters.

Oh, she needed to find a job. She shouldn't tell them that yet, maybe after she got another job, "Do you have the latest newspaper lying around?"

"Thanks," Lydia muttered as she took another sip of the beer. She put her papers to the side, flipping to the job advertisements. Nothing interesting, everything that was had a fixed time that she couldn't deal with since she had her classes.

"Waitress, Daycare teacher, exotic dancer," she raised an eyebrow on the last one. Over a hundred applicants and none seemed to fit her style at all. She almost gave up until something at the corner enticed her.

"Genetechnics, part-time, 5 days a week, Secretary, Fifteen an hour" she read through the application. She heard of that building before, a science building trying to research something. If they were looking for a part-time secretary, she may be the one. She had ICT skills and she could always put up the family history to put some more heartwarming in it. Eldest of twelve with a working father, she could pull that card off.

She took out a piece of paper, writing down the phone number. It said to put down an interview, she could do that. She had a resume. She smiled, maybe that could be her new job. If not, Adventures in Baby-sitting!

"So how much for the beer if I want it in a doggy bag?" Lydia asked, taking out her little purse. Elia made it for her when she left. Twelve sisters, just too much. Too much love to go around.

Uneventful, her life so far had been uneventful. Fired from her job and living in a small apartment with two other girls next to a drug addict who constantly screams and an elderly couple whose attempts to become young again kept her awake. Lydia needed a new job and this one with Genetechnics was her last hope. She had went through a lot these past couple of months, her exams seemed closer with every passing day. Her family depended on her.

"-Yeah, I just talked to Katria and Jameelia a few days ago." She told her father over the phone as she placed her empty bowl and glass in the sink. Her sister were over in some other university and probably had a better life than her as of now. Lydia held her phone between her ear and shoulder as she washed her hands through the tap for a second. She brushed over her only set of clothes that she considered office-wear. Black pants with a matching blazer and a plaid shirt. She also considered this outfit as funeral wear.

"Well, the girls miss you."
Hearing her father's soothing voice and her sisters in the background made her happiness levels bounce. "We know you're busy so just remember, we love you and good luck." She smiled briefly much to one of her roommate's surprise. She shouted in awe to which Lydia, promptly threw the first dishrag she could grab at her.

"Yeah, I love you too." She hated to admit it but she always had a soft spot for her family, "Tell Imolia, Helia, Gathia, Felicia, Elia, Demetria, Camilia, Benecia and Atheia, I miss them too. Okay, bye." She hung up the phone, putting it in her bag. Lydia looked up at the clock above her. Her interview was in fifteen minutes. She had to go soon or else, she'd miss it. Didn't want to make 'the Queen' waiting. "How did your parents name you guys?" Her ditz of a roommate, Fifi asked, "Were they on crack or something?"

"Shut up, Fifi. At my parents weren't on them when I was conceived." To which point, she walked out and slammed the door before Fifi could understand what she had meant. The subway was a great invention, it was quick, cheap and left her enough time to walk to the Genetechnics building. Entering the building was strange, it smelt weird. All fresh and clean. Moving over to the person behind the desk, Lydia spoke in the most formal fashion she could think of.

"Lydia Al-test-tay, interview with your boss for the job interview." Smooth move.

-Everything here is strange and unappealing, I have found two rats under my bed and a cockroach in my soup. I shall count the days until I get to see my you and my sisters. Warn Tabitha and Paulina not to go through my closet and steal my shoes again. Do not let Rathio go out alone to the river with her horse. Tell Idaline and Nadine, Safrina and Selene to stop playing tricks on those strollers and make Etaine and Samantha help along. They're only 11 and 9 for heaven's sake. Seeing two pairs of twins near the cottage will give them nightmares. Remind Cecelia and Ethelisa to practice their instruments because I feel as I might want to hear them play when I return. I must go now. By the time you read this letter, I will hopefully be on my journey home so do not bother to send a letter.

Love,
Ofayle

With the curve of her pen, she ended her letter. She had not bothered to even read it for she knew there was nothing wrong. She put it in an envelope, sitting in an inn. The Queen had called her father to the castle but alas, he was ill so she would go in his place. She was the eldest, a Lady in her own right with a sword on her side. No one dared to move closer to her much to her confusion. For a night, she stayed in the inn as her horse needed a well-rest. She wasn't far from the castle, noticing it on the hill last night. After paying for her meal, room and sending her letter, the young woman left to ride into the Queen's castle.

Despite being a Lady in title, she had hardly seen her father leave the cottage for the castle ever since her mother's sudden disappearance. Her father fell ill for quite some time. Her sisters and her had never left the castle but she was up to the challenge. She listened to her father closely, follow the path and never leave. The Queen had called for her father so abruptly, they couldn't ready the carriage yet. She left that day with her family hugging her.

The weather has been extremely dreary for the past few days and Ofayle had thought it would be different in the castle. She was wrong. By the time she saw the castle, the sky had turned dark as if it was about to rain. She gave her horse to a stable, paying them in a few gold coins. In her leather boots, she made her way over to the castle of Queen Miranda. Halfway through, a guard stopped her. He looked at her suspiciously, noticing her dirty boots, dark cape and hugging clothes.

"I am Lady Ofayle of the Zwolfe family. I am here on behalf of my father, Duke Hugh who is ill. The Queen has called for him and I am taking his place."
