Uneventful, her life so far had been uneventful. Fired from her job and living in a small apartment with two other girls next to a drug addict who constantly screams and an elderly couple whose attempts to become young again kept her awake. Lydia needed a new job and this one with Genetechnics was her last hope. She had went through a lot these past couple of months, her exams seemed closer with every passing day. Her family depended on her.
"-Yeah, I just talked to Katria and Jameelia a few days ago." She told her father over the phone as she placed her empty bowl and glass in the sink. Her sister were over in some other university and probably had a better life than her as of now. Lydia held her phone between her ear and shoulder as she washed her hands through the tap for a second. She brushed over her only set of clothes that she considered office-wear. Black pants with a matching blazer and a plaid shirt. She also considered this outfit as funeral wear.
"Well, the girls miss you." Hearing her father's soothing voice and her sisters in the background made her happiness levels bounce. "We know you're busy so just remember, we love you and good luck." She smiled briefly much to one of her roommate's surprise. She shouted in awe to which Lydia, promptly threw the first dishrag she could grab at her.
"Yeah, I love you too." She hated to admit it but she always had a soft spot for her family, "Tell Imolia, Helia, Gathia, Felicia, Elia, Demetria, Camilia, Benecia and Atheia, I miss them too. Okay, bye." She hung up the phone, putting it in her bag. Lydia looked up at the clock above her. Her interview was in fifteen minutes. She had to go soon or else, she'd miss it. Didn't want to make 'the Queen' waiting. "How did your parents name you guys?" Her ditz of a roommate, Fifi asked, "Were they on crack or something?"
"Shut up, Fifi. At my parents weren't on them when I was conceived." To which point, she walked out and slammed the door before Fifi could understand what she had meant. The subway was a great invention, it was quick, cheap and left her enough time to walk to the Genetechnics building. Entering the building was strange, it smelt weird. All fresh and clean. Moving over to the person behind the desk, Lydia spoke in the most formal fashion she could think of.
"Lydia Al-test-tay, interview with your boss for the job interview." Smooth move.
