Charlie just got to the Nevermore Psychiatric Ward. He just got a job as the new male doctor. He steeped out of his car, took a long deep breath, then walked in the psych ward. He walked in, said hello to the nurse, greeted some of the visitors, then went to the part of the ward where the patients got to interact with each others. Charlie hasn't really had a chance to sit down and talk to one of the patients. He saw a nurse try to give a girl some food. But the girl throw the plate to the ground, with scared some of the other patients. "Hey! What's going on here?" Charlie said to the girl as he walked over. The nurse was cleaning up and he helped by picking up the plate. "Don't you want to eat?" He added before the girl had a chance to answer.

Mai frowned to herself as she was walking, looking for the new doctor- Harrison, was it? She wondered what type of man he would be and if he was already informed about the, rather questionable, practices in use. As she made her way to the section that the nurse- a rather ditzy thing, if she must say- informed her that Dr. Harrison was, she could not help but notice the new guard standing outside a doorway. "Who is in there?" She asked as she raised an eyebrow, after all, it never hurt to be well-informed.

"Just two of the patients, ma'am." He replied rather nervously for a guard, too nervously for her liking. She scoffed and nodded as she continued on her way to her final destination. Once she finally arrived, she opened the door to see a rather tall man with an athletic build and asked: "Are you Dr. Harrison?"

Charlie looked over to see who was asking for him. "Yes, I am Dr. Harrison." He said. He stood up straight, nodded, & gave a greeting smile. He took a his hand and rubbed his hair back. Then he swiftly put his hands in his pockets.

"Dr. Elkan. You should have checked in first, Dr. Harrison." Mai said as she gave the man in front of her a disapproving look. She could not believe that this man had the nerve to just walk in and associate with the patients without even considering to stop and ask about the order of Nevermore. Although, she supposed he seemed decent enough for this job.

She gave him a slight smirk as she scoffed at him and crossed her arms, "'Suppose you want me to take you around this place...or do you want to deal with the patients a bit more?" Silently, she hoped to herself that he was bright enough to figure out the proper answer her question; if he didn't, she would have to start seriously questioning the staff that were being hired.

Charlie smiled, knowing that she's basically giveing him a test. "I am terribly sorry about not checking in. & about your offer for a tour of the place, if you would like to show me around, go ahead. But if you don't want to I'll stay here & try talking to some of the patience." He smiled and crossed his arms. He looked around at all the patciance. He got a rather confused look on his face, but dropped it as quick as possible & turned his attention back to Dr. Elkan.

Charlie looked back at the female patciance. His face quickly turned to a worried brow. He can't stand it when he sees people hurt. "It's okay." Charlie said as he took a seat at the table. He felt helpless. He's not good with dealing with emotional pain & sadness. He's only good with physical. All Charlie could do was sit there & watch her with a worried brow. You could see the wordiness & pain he felt in the gleam of his eyes. He's probably the only male doctor who ever really just felt someone's emotional pain. "I'm so sorry." Was the most sincer words he could form. He wasn't sure what else to say or do. If this was someone he actually knew & talked to, he would have gave them a big embracing protective hug. But since he's a doctor & she's a patinace and he doesn't really know her, that would be totally inappropriate.

Mai looked over to the female patient with an expression consisting of slight concern, for it was not good if early on Dr. Harrison got too attached to the patients. She frowned to herself and furrowed her eyebrows as she tried to think of the right course of action that would satisfy both the girl and the man. "Your sister would not want you to cry." Mai said, as she tried not to make that statement seem harsh or negative in any way, "Would she want to see you upset?"

Without waiting for a reply, she immediately turned her attention to Dr. Harrison and said: "As for your tour, it will be later on today once the patients all return to their rooms." She scrutinized his face as she looked for any signs of a negative reaction to her words before she continued, "We could stay here for a bit longer since you seem to like this." While the sentence itself seemed caring, it was the way she said it that subtly expressed her desire for him to leave this place; although, she wouldn't actually mind staying a bit longer and observing this new girl. After all, the only way to tailor experiments for a patient is by knowing their personality and themselves.

Charlie wanted to do something, but he didn't know what to do. He studied the patient and the other patients. He didn't want to get to involved, but he wasn't sure what to do. So he sat in that little plastic chair and watched and studied. He wanted to see how the patient would act. He wanted to see how the doctor would treat this patient. He studied every clue. Every hint of emotion. At this point, Charlie didn't know what to say. He could have seconded the question about the food, but he didn't want to seem pushy. So he simply just sat there. Watching and waiting to see what would happen.

"Do not expect me to know every single patient as soon as they arrive," Mai replied in a monotone voice, "Understand that we operate differently than your sister does. However, we will stick to that diet as of now, because you would need it to take your Benzodiazepines that I will prescribe for you later on." She repressed the urge to grimace at the slight fresh memory of how proud the girl seemed to be of herself and her body; it sickened her. "As for your nails, they will be kept short so you cannot bring any harm to yourself or others until proven otherwise."

Mai then turned to face Dr. Harrison and shifted slightly as she asked, "What do you suggest?"

Charlie looked at Dr. Elkan then back at the patient. "Let me tell you something." He said as he looked at the girl. He gave a slight pause, then resumed what he was saying. "My best friend in grade school got teased and picked on because she wasn't strong and had no muscle barely at all." He gave another short pause and looked to make sure the girl was listening. When it was confirmed, he continued. "So, after that, every single day, he would come with me to an open gym. Instead of staying around me and our other friends, he went off and used almost every weight station he could. Sometimes, he would even stay there from the time it opened to the moment it closed." He paused again and looked at Dr. Elkan then back at the patient. "One day, me and our other friends were going to the carnival. We invited him, but he was to busy trying to get fit. Since we weren't there, there was no one to tell him to stop when he was pushing himself to far. So, he went and pushed himself to far. One of the huge weights fell on him. He wasn't strong enough to pick it off himself and no one was there to help him. The weight crushed his luges and he died."

Charlie looked down at his feet. Then he looked back up at the patient. "Now, you must eat. I'm not saying eat like your a pig or a goat and eat everything!" He smiled as he said this and sat up, throwing his hands up in the air then gave a slight laugh. "But I'm saying if you never eat, your stomach will start eating its self then you'll die." He pointed at the girl. "And, even if you want to die yourself, think about haw all your friends and family will feel." He left his sentence like that. There was no more he could say or do to fix anything if this didn't help. But he actually wanted to leave her thinking. Hoping this will make her figure out whats right.

"I'll take that into consideration, Bridgett." Mai replied offhandedly, she didn't really have any intention to. However, after some reflection she decided the best course of action would be to act kindly to the girl. "Please, call me Dr. Elkan." She started to say something else, but quickly stopped and just smiled at Bridgett; making up an excuse on the spot, she adds, "I am sorry for being so harsh before, this morning was troublesome with the files."

Turning to Dr. Harrison, she raises an eyebrow and looks at him quizzically, "Well, are you ready for that tour now?"

Charlie smiled. "Nice to make your acquaintance Bri. I'm Dr. Harrison" He shook Bridgett's hand. When he shook her hand, the sleeve of his coat flow up a little, reveal some of his tattoos. When he was done shaking Bridgett's hand, he pulled his sleeve back down. He smiled at what she said about Dr. Elkan and gave a slight laugh. He looked back up at Dr. Elkan. "Sure." He said with a smile and stood up.

Mai blushed slightly out of embarrassment when Dr. Harrison laughed at that comment. Without notifying him, she walked out of the room without saying goodbye to Bridgett and down the nearest hallway until they reached the first few doors. She paused and looked back to make sure he followed her and, when she saw that he was, told him: "Here are some of the patient rooms here. You will be able to identify them by the guards most of the time and screams," she paused once again before continuing, "do note that these screams are from the more serious patients."

After she had said that, she continued down her way in the dreary, bright white hallways that seemed a bit too clean until they reached a doorway at the end; the door itself looked uninviting and had shatter marks at the bottom left corner of the glass window in the middle. "This door leads downstairs, but you will not be needing to go down here for a while. In fact, I would suggest that you do not near here for a while for your own safety." With that, she gave the man no chance to reply and swiftly took a left leading to another hallway, sparse of doors.

"Any questions so far?" She finally asked, not being able to put up with the uncomfortable silence.

Charlie followed. He listened. And he studied. As they passed each door, he took a quick through each little window on the door. When Dr. Elkan asked about questions he shrugged and said "No questions here, ma'am." And gave a slight smile.

Mai raised an eyebrow, she didn't understand why everyone was calling her ma'am and, quite frankly, she found it to be irking. "Don't call me ma'am, use Dr. Elkan or Mai," she stopped suddenly and looked over her shoulder and gave a brief, slight smile, "I'll be calling you Dr. Harrison, unless you tell me your first name." With that being said, they continued to walk until they reached a door in the middle of the long corridor.

"This is my office; come in, we need to get some work settled." She told him as she opened the door and walked in first. Mai made her way to a filing cabinet and pulled out a thin, yellow file from the unorganized system within the drawer and put it onto the desk. "Pull up a chair, I need you to fill out these forms." She told him as she sat down, quickly glanced to a photo on the desk, and adjusted it so that Dr. Harrison could not see what the photo was of.

Charlie pulled up a seat in front of Mai's desk. "I'm sorry, I will never call you ma'am again." He said as he sat down he added "My names Charles, by the way. But I don't like that name, so you may call me Charlie if you like." He smiled then looked around the room. He saw Mai turn a picture on her desk slightly. He was about to ask what the picture was, but decided it would be rude to ask, so he didn't mention it. "Are the forms going to take long to fill out?" He added, giving a slight bored look.

"Don't apologize, you didn't know." She replied hotly, as she opened up the folder. Once she heard his question she let out a short laugh and asked, "Not a fan of paperwork, Charlie?" For her own means of entertainment, she decided to pull open a desk drawer and pull out a folder of out-dated forms that were no longer in use and add them onto the pile; he didn't have to know that they weren't necessary. As she opened up the first folder, she pulled out an insurance form and handed it to him. "Might as well get the most boring over with, right?" She asked rhetorically with a small smile as she pulled out a bottle of pills and took one; "Headache." She told him once she saw that his eyes were on her.

Charlie sighed and filled out the form. "Paper work is boring." He said, sounding like a little kid that doesn't like to do homework. He saw Mai take some pills for her headache she said she had. When he finished the form, he handed it back to Mai and looked blankly around the room. All he saw was normal looking officiey stuff. "What's the next thing?" He added as he looked around, still sitting in his chair.

"Don't look so miserable, it's contagious. If you're bored we can go ahead and skip all of this. Why did you choose this job?" Mai asked as she got up and walked to the door. She leaned against it as she gave Charlie an irritated look, clearly not pleased about having to skip procedure, but not entirely opposed to the idea. She took the moment to close her eyes as she crossed her arms and just began to think; think about all the things that happened today: that Bridgette girl, the incompetent guard, Charles, everything in general. She sighed as she opened her left eye and glanced over to him, "Tell me about yourself and then I'll show you to your office and you are free. Okay?" Although she said that, she had no desire to know anything about this man; she frowned unknowingly as dug her nails into her arms, all she wanted was to get out of this horrible place.

Charlie watched Mai go to the door. "I choose this job because...I wanted to." He said with a teasing smile as he stood up and walked over to her. He stood right in front of her and crossed his arms. "As for telling you about my self, you'll have to figure out about me all on your own." He smile and gave a little laugh and walked out of the room. He leaned against a wall and waited to see what was going to happen now. As he stood there he smiled to himself.
