"Yeah." John chuckled and took a swig of his coke and whiskey letting the fiery burn of the acidic drink and alcohol travel down his pipes. "I won't admit how long it took me to figure a way to find you. Took me long enough just to get your father to spit out what happened. One day your there the next they tell me you've been banished and won't say exactly what for."

John tapped his foot on the foot rest of his bar stool, making his knee bounce up and down anxiously. "Riley...you should have told me what was going on. I know we hadn't talked much in a while but, hell we grew up together. I gave you hell as a cub."

He looked over to Riley, his leg stopped bouncing. "Shit's changed since you left. There's been a hunter outside our territory just......circling, and he's a damned good one. I can't get a fix on him, even our best tracker can't get a fix on him. It's pulling our tribe apart....and it's...." He paused a moment, looking away. "It's killed your dad."

"If there's ever been a time we needed your nose here it's now, the tribe can either piss and whine about the way you are or they can let you help as the strong able bodied tiger you are." John looked to Riley once more letting the news and request sink in. He wasn't sure how Riley would react to it. John knew roughly about what his father had done. He dragged his own son out and hurt him. In what way he never got out of the man, but this hunter was no joke. He'd left the old man's scull for them to find on a set of dead end tracks. It was a warning to every single tiger in that tribe that his game was just starting. John was out of his depth here. He was combat trained. Guns, knives, blades of all kinds, claws, hand to hand, but this was right out man against animal sport. The man could be perched a mile a way ready to take them down one pelt at a time.

The forest far north, on the outer most edge of the territory , was thick with underbrush and pine trees, the paths here had never known the foot steps of humans it seemed. The trails here were cause by elk and moose rather than backpackers and teenagers.
Ferns dotted the space between the Pine and Birch that reached for the heavens. A low fog clutched to their bases, pine needles carpeted this expanse , muting all life's foot fall. This land was made for him.

Lapin, one of the last true hunters of the age stalked these woods now. He was waiting now.

Upon a bolder sat the hunter, rifle cradled in his lap as he relaxed in the few rays of sunlight that pierced the canopy. His aging features were cast in the green glow of nature, his expression was 'laxed, at peace with his now simple existence. He inhaled the crisp mountain air. He looked natural there, sure he stood out in his camouflaged clothing, and camping gear, nut some how it looked like he belonged there.

across the lake there was an elk, it had been listening for the last half hour. Lapin was going to take him, but everything deserved a last meal and drink. He inhaled shifting the old 91/30 rifle, an outdated service rifle from the last great war.
He braced the rifle with his shoulder, sliding an arm through the sling, and rested his elbows on his knees to take aim.

Gently the cross hair centered on the Elk's shoulder. ' Of thee I take so that I might live another day, rest in peace knowing your life served a purpose...' he mummers against the rifle's stock.

The elk looked up, as it had heard the faintest of whispers, and promptly fell over before the it could hear the crack of the rifle.

Lapin held for a moment, as the rifle settled back onto target. He didn't enjoy killing mindless things...They were innocent and offered no sport. He worked the bolt and caught the spend casing, stashing away in his breast pocket before chambering another round. ' oi, now time for a walk..' He groaned a bit as he stood up, using the rifle as a crutch almost to help himself up.
His back was sore from siting for the short time and then getting back up, then again the 50 pound backpack didn't help that, nor did the near 10 pound rifle. He cradled the rifle again like before and started down the hill to his kill.

His foot fall was light, carefully placed so he'd leave little more than soft depressions in the pine needles that would fade in a few moments. He wove his way through the ferns and saplings as to not disturb the nature anymore than he had.

It was a fifteen minuet walk to his kill.

Reegan stopped at a forest, panting at a tree. She was still in her fox form. She soon caught her breath, and walked to a dead elk.She purred at it, and deiced to curl up beside for it's warmth.Soon Reegan was fast asleep, her fur changing to skin. Her snout changing to a nose. After a minute she was a human, curled up beside the dead elk.

Reegan purred and rubbed her human skin in her sleep, you could tell she was some sort of mutant, her fox tails wrapped around her for warmth, her ear's flicking in her sleep. She was having a bad dream, about people with guns, humans with guns.

Even before he was trained as a hunter Lapin enjoyed his hikes in the forst , there was something peaceful about the emptyness of the wilderness that had always drawn him in, .
He sighed quietly remembering the long hours of physical and mental training he had been forced to take by his father or rather mentor as far as Lapin cared.

A few decades ago, he had thought his training and family's fixation on were-creatures was laughable if not delusional. That had changed with his first encounter with a were-creature in Iraq. Had his father not been so damn stubborn he would have been dead like the rest of his squad. That time in his life had changed him in more ways than he ever cared to admit, but i had solidified one fact for him, were-creatures were dangerous and needed to be slain.
A mixture of emotions crossed the old hunter's mind as he reviewed other bits of his life, it left him with an empty pit in his stomach.

At the end of the day, they were people and that's why he hadn't hunted them like animals, they were far more dangerous than any animal.
He inhaled as he neared the kill, clearing his mind to center him self. He'd mull over the morality of what he was doing later, as always.

The hair on the back of his neck bristled as he drew near the elk's dead body, something was off.

He froze , scanning the treeline around him, only slowly moving his head as needed.
He had learned to trust his instincts , it had saved him more times than once.
That's when he noticed the girl curled up by the elk.

' What in the world?' He almost said aloud from confusion. She hadn't been there when he had shoot the elk.

Tentatively he crept closer to the sleeping were , muzzle raised.
The girl was lovely, no denying about it, even being a were. He debated killing her on the spot or using her to his advantage.

Moments ticked by,he took up the slack on the old trigger.
On one hand she was the enemy.. On the other hand she might have information about the area Lapin need.
. Lapin's mind tried to race back to the interrogation of the tiger-were.He shoved the thought away avoiding the fact
he had done terrible things to the man to gain names and information but the tiger had held out on descriptions and locations, or rather that information couldn't be trusted because of the means of which it had been extracted.

After what seemed like an eternity, Lapin lowered the rifle , he wasn't going to kill her...yet.
He set his rifle and backpack down at a nearby tree but kept his sidearm and knife handy. He'd be kind to this girl, odds were he'd get more information out of kindness than a gun pointed to her head.

He worked quietly, gathering bits of wood and kindling for a cook fire, after all he had just killed dinner.

As he worked he couldn't help but glance over at the contrasting white skin of the human like were, the contrast alone kept catching the corner of his eye.
The forth time he had done this he had gotten sick of looking at her and went to a his bag and took his poncho out to offer it as a blanket to cover her self.

He cleared his throat standing a little ways off , looking away to be polite. " 'Excuse me Ma'am." He said allowed in a stern , but deep and pleasant voice. He waited for her to wake a little before he went on.
" Hope you don't mind my intrusion, but you've curled up by my meal." He explained still averting his eyes, or seemingly to anyways.

Reegan woke up in a huge jump, there was a a man beside her, about 50 or so.She backed up behind the elk."Hope you don't mind my intrusion, but you've curled up by my meal." He said to her, very nicely indeed. She backed away from the elk, still moving slowly away from the man."I-I'm sorry..Do you w-want m-me to leave?" Reegan mumbled, staying still in her spot, the cold wind now ripping at her skin. Her brain screamed to move, run, go anywhere, but she stayed put.She wrapped her tail's around her even more.

'Is it snowing?' Reegan thought, looking up at the sky with curiosity. She looked at the man, who put down a poncho down beside her when she was sleeping, she ran and grabbed it.Reegan wrapped it around her torso, her skin now feeling a bit more warmer."T-thank you sir." She said, and looked at him again, this time with curiosity.

"No I....I didn't mean..." John started to apologize. The words managed to trail off some as he listened to what Riley had to say though.

"I’m sorry, I might have had too much to drink. Or not enough.” He took another swig straight from the bottle. “It’s just… you’re right. Fuck, what’s wrong with me? Did I really think that dropping a bomb like that on you would end well? And what is the point? Why the fuck would I even imprint if it doesn’t help to pass down my genes to the next generation? I can’t have cubs, at least not by any traditional means. I’m the outsider, you’re just in the wrong pride.”

"Well....you are too Riley. We're more than just wild animals, we ought to think more like reasonable people as well. I'm sure you're not the only gay were." Jack finished off his glass and watched, in some amount of surprise as Riley finished the bottle on his own. Sorrow and despair really does fuel the thirst.

“I think I might be drunk." He slurred then finished off the bottle and looked at John with a mock-innocent look on his face. John chuckled slightly and nodded. "You deserve it after what you've been through. Honestly I'm not entirely sure it would matter to me if you did 'do something about it'. If anything it would provide me with sure fact of where I stand on the matter. I just don't want you to hurt. It's the worst part of all this. If I'm not gay we can't be around each other like this, like brothers, like friends. If I don't fall for you in the end you've got no choice to pine over me and me alone. That's what sucks here." John wished he could down himself another glass but he figured he should get Riley home at least. Some rest would do them both good. They'd been up all night. John had been tracking him all week an then some.

"I honestly don't know how I'm going to convince the chief. Whatever it takes I suppose. It's the pack's safety or your homosexuality. I just hope he can see what's important here. No matter. We'll figure this out in the morning. Let's get you home." John stood and put an arm around Riley for support, draping Riley's arm around his neck. He could easily keep Riley on his feet with one arm out for him to grab onto but he just wanted to see something. The slightly smaller were was close enough to fill his sensitive nose with his scent now, mixed with the strong smell of whiskey and the traces of his supper of rare steaks. He really had been getting stronger, John could feel it by the muscles that flexed in his arm and back as he walked. Flashes of mental images of Riley pumping iron and jogging on treadmills at a sweaty gym came to his mind. He chuckled slightly under his breath comparing such exorcizes to his own rigorous training in the forest, running for miles on end lifting weights in two of his forms and sparing in all three forms with whomever challenged him for his position at lead guard. He always finished off a spar with a mighty roar. Being the only lion his was the loudest and most impressive and could be heard five miles off at least. He'd had to avoid doing that since the hunter was spotted nearby though. A roar so loud would definitely lead him to their doorstep.

John helped Riley into his car and they drove on back to Riley's house, talking of more casual things to ease the mood and John explained that he'd only been watching Riley for about an hour before he found the note mostly out of curiosity. "I didn't realize your love for humans extended far enough for you to play hero." John chuckled, "I recommend a cape next time and some tights."

Once they got back to Riley's home John offered his support again, this time holding out an arm for him to hang onto should he need it. John really liked Riley's loft. It was comfortable. Once Riley was off doing whatever it was he was to do to get ready for bed John found himself a beer and made himself comfortable on the couch. Despite it not being his home he found himself inadvertently putting his scent on it, more or less shifting around to get comfortable, putting as much contact against the fabric as he could muster. He kicked off his shoes and reclined himself there letting himself dose off slowly.

Meanwhile in the forest at a small little nook territory in the woods, an old beat up truck putted along an unmarked road leading to nowhere. Roland was finally heading home. His home was a hand built log cabin one he took the liberty of constructing with his own two hands. It was mostly a placeholder of course. He only lived there in the few days of fall and spring when the game that wandered through his territory wasn't enough to fill his appetite. The tiger territory wasn't far off from there, it was just off the mountain in a valley nearby. Roland had never been there before and he hoped never to have reason to. He slowed his truck to a stop as the headlights from it bathed over the entirety of his little shack. He turned it off and climbed out, collecting his shopping bags and kicking the door shut behind him. Nothing but crickets sounded off in that part of the woods. Crickets and the soft rhythmic huff of the bear's breathing. He unlocked the door to his home and entered letting the screen door slam behind him. It was all one floor and three rooms. A bedroom bathed in animal furs, mostly deer and wolf. He didn't let any of his food go to waste. Almost like a proper hunter his meal also became his rug, the comforters to his bed, the thin dry leather of the lampshade and the frame to his chair. Bones skin and fur. Even a hunter might mistake him for another hunter. He was far from it though. There was one thing missing. Guns. Not a single weapon lay in viewing distance from any angle, no guns bows or darts. Only thing he used at all where knives to prepare the flesh. Large chunks of raw venison sat in the fridge and the freezer thawing out methodically to conserve food. He dumped the fruits in as well before lumbering exhaustedly to his bed.

" No, no you are more than welcome to stay." He said gathering the last bits of timber he needed to make his fire. He dug through his backpack to grab his cookware and fire start.

" you are more than welcome to join me for a meal. " Lapin said as he started the fire, setting up four stones to rest the pan on whilst he cooked. His stomach growled a little at the thought of his meal.

She stared at him for a moment then looked to the sky and asked him if it was snowing.

" I don't think it is..." He said looking at her rather curious. "... Where did you come from?"He asked moving closer to the elk.

He took his hunting knife from his shoulder harness and began to go about prepping the elk meat to be cooked.
It was a tad messy but Lapin paid little mind to the fact he had a guest with him, it had been a long time since he had gutted anything in front of someone else. He had forgot how squeamish folks could be.

"T-Thank you sir.." Reegan soothed, looking at the man.She sat down at the tree, and scooted a bit closer to the fire.Reegan couldn't care less about the blood and gore, she just wanted food, and some decent clothing.'Why isn't he hurting me..?' She thought, looking at the flames of the fire. The ashes flying into the air, then dropping to the ground .Her thoughts were all over the place, but the one real good thought was,'Is there anymore like me?' Reegan felt stupid just thinking about other people like her, and if there was, why wouldn't the save her from this hunter, was the hunter even going to hurt her?Shivers were sent up her back just thinking about it.Reegan scooted a bit more closer to the fire, cold sharp wind ripping at her bare feet, and legs.

Her belly grumbled each time the man cut deeper into the Elk, Reegan just wanted food. She looked at her arms and legs, they were sticks compared to the man with muscles from when he was younger. Her back hurt, so she laid back down, still keeping close to the fire.Reegan had felt her eyelids close, and she started to dream about others like her.People with an animal spirit like her. She'd dream of a tiger and lion, both men, fighting with each other.

Lapin's question hung in the air, maybe should couldn't speak... " You 'ought to be more careful when you're out and about young lady." He stated as he finished carving up what he could for the moment. He didn't like wasting the rest of the elk but his stomach was demanding food. He'd finish packing the rest later.

With a little pepper and a bit of salt he tossed the meat into the skillet and shuffled it over the fire.I'd be a moment or two before the meat was safe for Lapin to devour. He took a seat next to his gear, resting his old back a tree with a groan.
He offered her a friendly smile before asking " So, Do you have a name miss?" His tone was friendly.

'What kind of shiftier walks up to a hunter knowing who they are? Unless she's never been told about me before.' Lapin's senses stretched out around him, trying to feel the danger of this situation. This whole situation was odd, but Lapin didn't show any outward sign of being concerned. Outwardly he only seemed like a nice old man on a hunting trip in the woods.

"Oh, uh my names Reegan.." She said, drooling over the meat.It was obvious that she hasn't ate in awhile.Reegan purred at him, and her ears flicked in each direction hearing sounds from wherever.Reegan let out a shaky breath, her human form wanted to sleep and her animal form wanted to run around.

Reegan laid back down, hoping for the best dream. She kept drooling over the roasting meat."Um sir, may we share the meat?I haven't ate in days.." Reegan said, looking at him with, big pleading eyes. She let out a shaky breath, and wished that someone like her knew that she was suffering.Reegan sighed, and sat back up, leaning against the tree. Her left fox ear itched so she scratched the back, and Reegan started to purr like a fox.

Something about the fox girl bothered Lapin, other than the obvious, it might have been the lack of self preservation this woman was displaying. "Interesting Name..."

" Tis why I made enough for two...." He flipped the bits of meat over with his knife. It sizzled in the pan and let off a wonderful smell. " Are you aware of who I am Miss?" he pressed, it was an odd situation and Lapin's mind couldn't exactly wrap around it.
He knew he was somewhat of a boogie man to these people. He wondered if she noticed what so many other shifters noticed about him before their deaths.... The lack of a notable scent. Maybe this shifter was a loner and hadn't been told the stories.

The meat was finished, He stabbed a slice and offered it to her first before taking his own. " Careful, it's hot." He warned blowing on his slice to cool it off a little.

He watched her carefully in the failing light of the day.

Reegan looked at the food, then at him.She tilted her head."I don't know anything about you, except that you're feeding me and i'm grateful for it." Reegan mumbled. As he gave the meat to her, he said something about not eating it hot.Reegan didn't care much about it.She took the meat with her hands and teared it apart, licking her lips as she finished in a flash. She smiled, and looked into the fire, then the elk."Sir, I don't think I caught your name.." Reegan soothed, and started to hum a tune that the person who saved her once from a guy who tried raping her, was humming.

Lapin scarfed down the gamey-meat in a few bites. He went a head and packed up the rest of the meat away in an air tight bag to and shoved it into his backpack. The sky was growing dark quickly, Lapin had a few things he needed to do before he could sleep, and with the snow starting to fall that list only grew by the moment.

"I don't know anything about you, except that you're feeding me and i'm grateful for it."

Not a thing about me? He laughed a little as if she had made a pun that he hadn't heard in long time so it got a chuckle.
Had his reputation started to fade? Were his deeds starting to fade out of common lore and into history books like so many other beings? Maybe it was a good thing that his time was over...

."Sir, I don't think I caught your name.."

Sighing heavily he stood up answering. "Depending on who you talk to, or when you're talking about, Tho you may call me Lapin, Lapin Izhmesh." He smiled a bit.

He moved over to his bag and dug out a mag light flash light and flicked it on, it had a red filter on it as to not destroy his natural night vision. He knew everyone and their mother that was a were would see it but at the moment that wasn't an issue. He was just another human camper lost in the woods on a hunting trip. He shouldered his bag and grabbed his rifle, slinging it over his shoulder. .

" There are a few branches over there you can use for the fire... feel free to do what you wish with the elk. Keep the poncho. Don't find me again... " He gave her one more smile before walking out of the fire light into the night.

Lapin walked on through the snowy woods in the dark, heading to the base of the mountain to where he had built a small shelter. It was about an hour and a half away.

He didn't make much noise but he felt like he had eyes on him the whole way as he waked. He didn't like the snow, sure it was pretty but all it did for him was make being unnoticed harder to do. No matter what you did you left tracks and made at least some noise unless you wanted to skull drag your way everywhere. Hell that left even more of a path than running through the snow.

The sense of dread that had plagued him since his encounter with the Fox woman. He drew his revolver, the comforting feeling of the wood grips in his hand eased his mind a little. Even if a bear rushed him now one or two rounds of 454 Casull would end that right quick.

Lapin trudged on through the snow, his body ached with the cold. Each step sent a jolt a pain through his old bones.
His hand was all but frozen around the pistol and flashlight. It had been a long time since he had been left out in the cold like this.
His body reminded him that he was getting old. A gust of wind swept through his clothing , causing him to pause for a moment in pain. Cold and tired... that's all he felt at this moment. Rest a moment...yes just a moment..
He found a tree and leaned against it, some distant part of his mind warned him about something but he couldn't be bothered to listen to it for the moment... Rest was so close at hand.

The flashlight he was carrying slipped out of his hand and hit his shoe, stiring the old man after a moment.
He cursed him self, he bent over reaching for the flashlight, the cold stinging his fingers ans he clutched the frozen tube of metal.
He had almost made the biggest mistake someone could when dealing with the cold.

'Never stop moving..' He pushed him self forward through the woods again. He'd be to his shelter soon...

He finally reached the base of the mountain. It took him a few moments to find his shelter in the darkness.
The shelter was a woven dome of pine branches that was insulated with ferns and pine needles then covered in packed snow.
He moved the makeshift door he had made from a slab of bark and crawled into the little shelter. Once he was comfortable to a degree he packed the door shut with snow then backed it with his backpack.

It was dark in the shelter, the cold was still stuck in his bones but it wasn't nearly as bad. All in all 4 or 5 inches of pine needles made a great mattress, but his old bones needed something else besides him self for warmth. He produces a little propane lantern from his backpack and turned it on, it wasn't much more than a faint dim so the shelter would block out any light.
The little lantern produced enough heat for him to warm his fingers and find his flask.
He laid there for while, just taking small sips from it, the alcohol raced the feeling of warmth through his old bones.
His mind recapped the days events in no real order, it was a day like any other for the most part. He hadn't gotten any real information , a few tracks, some paths that suggested a large animal and the fox girl... if anything her trail might lead him somewhere if she didn't die in the cold tonight.

He flexed his fingers to see if they were still working, seeing that the chill had gone from them mostly he turned off the little lantern and curled against himself in the darkness. His back contested the bedding but he didn't pay it much mind, soon enough the combination of whisky and the quiet sounds of the wood luled him to sleep. It was a peaceful sleep for the most part.

Goddammit! John cursed in his thoughts as he followed Riley out to the car, digging his keys from his pocket he unlocked it, carefully adjusting himself before coming up around the car. The hell has gotten into you John? You've never teased him like this before its a wonder he's not taking you right there in Bear city. A boner???

I was....just seeing if I could do it. I've never even thought towards a guy like that. I don't want to just jump into it. Besides I.....really didn't expect it to happen it just.....did...... John glanced out the window as he started the car, shifting in his seat as the edges of his ears turned pink at the thought of what happened in there. A mixture of morning 'alertness' plus his brain had been buzzing all night with Riley right there against him. He hadn't been grooming Spikes for comfort and cleanliness. It was namely to relieve the tension he was starting to feel. Yet oddly enough John wanted more of it. His thoughts however where broken by Riley's question.

“Hey, John, yesterday when Smokey called me your mate, I noticed you didn’t argue or correct him at all. Not that I’m complaining, but do you mind if I ask why?”

John looked over at Rily for a moment and shrugged. "I was more focused on getting us in I guess."

That's right....He did call Riley his mate. John wondered what had given him that idea then he remembered walking in and catching Riley rolling happily in the scent of his car. Riley was caked in John scent even more now since the treatment John gave him this morning. Rubbing his facial scent glands all over Riley's fur like a happy cat. Only thing John hadn't done yet was mate him and declare him as his own with a defiant and challenging roar.

It wasn't till then that a colder tone came to John's mind. Is this really such a good idea John? I mean think about what you're doing first. You are the head enforcer for the tiger tribe, you are their highest sort of hope that they won't get shot in their homes and worn as clothing. Do you really need to be banished as a gay? Tone it the fuck down when you get in their or it's your ass they're going to drag off at the end of a chain along side your precious Riley.

The thought pierced through his giddy, playful mood but John tightened his grip on the wheel. You have not been paying attention, have you. This isn't some fleeting feeling, some pestering ounce of lust. Riley has been seated at the center of my heart for YEARS. He's BEEN there. He's owned it for a long time. Sure in the beginning he was my little brother, but then he became my best friend the one I went to with all my problems with all my uncertainties. Riley's been the driving force in me the past few years as well as every ounce of my free time was spent trying to find him. I'm not letting him go again. If he's re-banished I'm going to be banished with him.

John became quiet after a while as his thoughts dampened his mood. It seemed his newfound feelings for Riley where causing a storm in his mind and he probably came off as bipolar after the long hours being next to him. One moment talking, teasing, poking fun the next sullen and quiet. They stopped briefly at a diner nestled in the woods with it's own gas station and ate then refueled before John finally said something.

"Hey......Riley? Can I ask you something?" He pumped the last few drops of gas, giving it a light shake to avoid having the fluid drip on his car then put the cap and cover back on. "How'd you know? You where gay....I mean....the first time, before the imprinting happened." He asked, carefully, avoiding Riley's eyes knowing for a fact he would pull the information straight from his brain. He had a habit of doing that with ease. Instead he focused on putting the nozzle back and getting himself back into the car.

Meanwhile back at Roland's cabin. Roland was preparing for his trek up the mountain for the winter. It was about that time and his body was ready for it. He gathered a bunch of meats which he would eat raw from his resting place until completely full to bursting and unable to move. Then he would sleep for entire months. He first cleaned his cabin, scrubbing his cutting table with bleach and disposing of the innards left from his meals in a ditch at the edge of his territory. He neatened up his home, folding up furs and piling them onto his nest, then pulling a tarp over his truck. When everything was set he turned bear and lumbered off, glad so see that the two felines had left long before then.

Lee was quietly singing to herself as the snow whipped around in her hair, her words frosting out of her mouth as she did so. In her mind everything was rocking out around her, trees doing air guitar and the snow is multicolored like spotlights all upon the small path she had found. "You can screw Nevada" she belted out as she kicked away some snow, "Mess with Maine!" The footsteps she had been following seemed a little sloppy, probably sense usually people move differently when theyre cold, like they were trying to hurry but couldnt quite go fast enough. "Leave Hawaii in a puddle of pain!" She inspected her blade to see if she had gotten all the blood off of it from the woman she had killed a bit ago. "You can beat Virginia 'til shes down on the floor!" One of the reasons she left town, turned out that someone was at home with her when Lee went in for a "visit".

Lee had been in this part of the territory for maybe a half year when she found her target, a woman that could only be a decade older than her at the most. With very pretty brown hair and strange blue eyes, the combination had fit her pretty well, her uniqueness is probably why shes dead. She had followed around the woman for a couple of weeks, a little sad that she never would go to the woods which is where she liked doing her magic. The woods had better space and blood could be slung all around the place and it could go far. Lee had to settle for just painting her walls instead of a few leaves and the dust around, although since it had started snowing earlier in this part of the territory it would have been prettier outside. Lee was so sure she was careful, even taking a few days to watch the house itself to make sure that there was no one inside. Not one person had gone or went but the woman from both entrances and she hadnt seen anyone moving around either.

The woman came home at the same time she always had, a little after six at night, when Lee was behind her. With a hand on the womans mouth she pushed the other inside and against the door, one leg inbetween hers to pin her there as Lee used her own mouth to pull and tear a piece of tape. With it ready she pressed it on after moving her hand away, a bit bitten as the woman struggled along with a few scratches. Lee never really tried very hard to stop them from hitting, it never really hurt anymore and it hadnt in a very long time. Actually it just egged her on and her mind only could interpret it as them begging her to do it, begging for her to paint. With a hand free she was able to grab the womans hands in her own, quickly twisting around and then with the palms up she bend them down until she felt them break. The womans screams were heavenly and Lee dropped the now useless hands to feel more of her, the warmth was always surprising and she learned its always best to know where the warmest spot is on the victim.

Each victim was a little different, but usually most were frightened which would mean their legs and chest were wear she would want for a big spurt but, some liked what was happening up to a certain point and other places were better. This lady was scared, extremely scared if Lee could make out the paleness of her face as well as she thought she did. To make sure she started to cut and rip her way through the womans clothes, not being careful with her knife since the one she was using wouldnt go in very far. Something must have made the woman snap out of her state of shock because she started to try to run, stupidly attempting her hands to push Lee away. With another pained scream she went down, Lee moving out of her way as she thudded beside her on the floor. With a raised brow Lee used her foot to push the woman on her back and Lee sat on top, she leaned down to tape her arms tightly together above her. Lee's feet curled to hold onto the womans as she continued to cut, finally able to take off the last of the clothes and toss them away. She did take a minute to look down at the woman, savoring the fear that was going to be permanent on her face even if it wouldnt be there for long. With a smile, not her signature one she had been famous for that could gives cavities but a wild one with with teeth that could have been too big for her, Lee slit deep into the womans throat with her other and more favourite knife. One of the first spurts of blood got her in the face, signaling to her that she had hit quite a bit of things with the cut, not that she cared.

She would have had more fun if she didnt suddenly hear a noise that sounded like someone was asking the dead woman under her a question in another room. Thankfully she hadnt turned the lights on when she was getting in the house, so if the person had come it they wouldnt see much. Quietly Lee got to her feet, leaving the bleeding woman by the front door as she went to inspect where the noise was from. Not that it took her long, the place being a two room house and she was in the other, and to her amazing luck the door was closed. From what she could see the light was off so she opened it and walked inside, finding it pitch. She heard a little voice to her right, a little one that sounded tired and happy voice that said "Momma?" She had a kid? What in the hell?Acting quickly she walked to the bed and towards the child, softly letting a shhh as she lowered herself on the bed. Feeling for the child she found its head, stroking it in a comforting manner and humming softly. A small hand reaches out and grabbed her arm, pulling softly and climbing up to hug it, falling asleep as the child rested their face against her.

Lee sat there for a while listening to the breathes that came from the small thing that was beside her. She never had been caught before, she was very careful in making sure she wasnt, if she was caught she probably wouldnt be able to kill anymore. She wasnt going to stop, at this point she was sure she could if she even wanted to, no never would she let herself stop. Carefully she slipped her hand away and stood, finding that she could see just a bit from a light that could be made out under the crack of the window. Bending down she smoothed the childs hair one last time and giving him a little kiss on the forehead. When she was done her hand went to her long knife, the one she had used to cut the womans throat, and with a quick motion that she put all her power through she separated his head from his body. As she quickly walked out, no longer up to doing anything else to the womans body, she locked the door behind her and ran. No one would come to that house for over a week, when someone from the woman's work became too worried to sit still. They would find her body slowly rotting, face frozen in a horror that most would never know, and her sons head on the floor of their bedroom. His face would be peaceful and sweet, a bloody kiss mark on his little forehead.

If anyone could see Lee they would say she would have glassy eyes as she thought back, her face blank and unable to understand what emotion was suppose to be on it. She didnt feel bad, she didnt care about the death of the little kid, but she didnt feel relieved like she would have had it been just the woman. Her mood lightened though as she reached the end of the footsteps that were in the snow to a little hidey hole. "But if you fuck with Tex youll be on your knees for sure!" She entered in without knocking, figuring she was going to sleep in there whether the person wanted her to or not. The person didnt have much of a choice.

It was dead cold that night in the mountains. A fresh snow had fallen and cleared to an icy dead chill with no wind to speak of. The thick insulation of snow on every surface made the woods seem even more silent, the perfect scene for a hunter and prey to meet. A large figure stood atop an outcropping of rocks peering down at the rickety looking little shack in the snow. It almost blended completely with the surrounding snow well hidden and well masked scent wise. It looked like nothing but another part of the woods but Ko-jin had been hunting this little snake in the grass for a long time. He knew the old man's tricks. The were lion leapt down from the outcropping, landing square on the shelter causing it to buckle then break, collapsing under his immense weight all in very quick succession. Ko-jin dug his clawed hand through the shattered branches and pine needles to clamp it around the old man's throat. He moved quickly, shoving a clawed and up against his throat simultaneously finding his gun arm and dropping a clawed paw down on it. He went to his knee, to avoid being swept off balance and wrestled the revolver from his grip, tightening the branch against his throat. He swept the revolver out of reach. "You listen to me, hunter and you listen to be good." He snarled at the old man, giving his ribs a good bruising punch to keep him still. "You can either kill me now with one of your hunting knives gut me belly to sternum and my gut instinct can drill nice new holes in your throat as I bleed out and we can both die. Or we can have a proper talk like proper men. Don't get me wrong I want so bad to eat your guts with a side of a light salad for what you did to me and my wives but I have a son to find. A son you stole from me 22 years ago. So you're going to help me find him and in return I won't kill you until we do. Then the both of us will be ripping your throat out."

"Listen, don't worry Riley, we'll be ok. We'll take care of each other just like we used to. I know the territories in this area, some of them are chill with me and hopefully will let us stay until we figure something out more permanently, honestly at this rate I think it would pay not to be in a tribe. That's what they're after right now,the tribes. "It's harder to find just one or two were's on their own. Especially since we don't attack or eat humans." John said looking over at him, seeing the worry in his eyes. "Lets focus on what we're going to do right now. I'm going to arrange a meeting with the chief. Where are you going to stay tonight? Do you......want to see the old house or go to my place?"

It wasn't much longer that they actually reached the tribe, they pulled off onto a gravel road that gradually turned into dirt and up to a gate most places used to mark a campground. John stopped the car in order to manually move the gate out of the way. That was when the guards for the evening came out of the surrounding forest.

"John." He hadn't shouted but he took him by surprise and John jumped for the second time that day and turned around. A strong looking man with dark hair and similar body type to John stood there and broke into a grin. He started to cackle, clutching his stomach. "The look on your face, man! Hahahahahahah! About time you got back, thought he'd pulled you in for sure, you know what I mean?"

"Dave..." John sighed exasperatedly "The hell do you mean 'pulled me in'"

Dave however had turned his interest to the Camaro. "You know what I mean, brother. Honestly...what where you thinking? Surely we coulda borrowed a hunter from another tribe, right?" He smirked and looked back at John. The other guard bent down to peer into the passenger's seat. John's heart seemed to clench. A growl started from his chest and John snarled, he grabbed Dave by the collar with both hands and slammed him against the car violently enough to shake it, almost smashing the window in.

"Unless you want to be keeping watch with only one eye I suggest you shut your trap and get the fucking gate open, you get me Dave? I've already beat your ass to sunrise once don't think I won't do it again." John's mane seem to explode from his follicles, his face turning into a fierce half lion form. He swung around and sent Dave stumbling towards the gate. This is a really bad start. He though to himself, attempting to calm himself. The other guard stepped back. It was clear who was the superior here, he averted his gaze respectfully. John tried to calm himself and reentered the car as they finally entered the tiger tribe.

The following is a collaborative post between myself and Royalburden.

By the time Lapin's mind processed all the pain and panic from being jumped on by a seven hundred pound lion he found himself pinned by the beast. 'Fuck! I've been careless it seems.'
His face twisted up into a snarl nearly as animistic as his counterpart's. " You've no honor! Attacking a man at rest! We gave your ilk a fair warning before we burned that pride to the ground.
I Should have finished you off myself! "
Lapin huffed struggling for a moment, as the lion had thought Lapin had managed to pull one of his knives from his belt, but again as the lion had suggested the idea of drowning in his own blood didn't seem preferable. The fact the lion hadn't killed him outright suggested he was telling the truth.
" I will have you know I saved the whelp or were you to busy running away---" He felt the grip around his throat tighten. " O-kay, okay" He managed to choke out.
" I give you my word I shall not kill you, now will you let me up to speak?! or are you content to crush the life out of me?" He asked pointedly at the beast.

"It wouldn't please me more to tear your throat out, hunter, but right now you're the only chance I've got at finding my son." Kojin snarled. He let go of the old man's throat and got to his feet, shrinking down to his human form, an aged but strongly built man with strong forearms and biceps but a bit of a beer belly around his middle. There where only a few sparse gray hairs in his wild dark brown and gold streaked hair, which seemed to fly from his scalp like....well a mane. He looked bizarre, ashen and scarred in his human form, unveiled wild eyes flashing gold beneath bushy brows, his shaggy face bearing a scraggly goatee that trailed partway to his chest. He was dressed in a worn leather coat and a pair of old jeans that seemed just a bit too tight around the waist and shoulders. "Where did you take him?" He demanded, awkwardly stepping away from the hunter, kicking a few of the branches and sticks off the man never taking his eyes from his face. He kept to his promise at not killing the man but it was clear from his tense posture that he would spring into offense at the slightest hint of danger, pacing like a predator animal squaring off with a possible threat. He bent and picked up the old man's gun and stuffed it into his belt, insurance to see that he wasn't shot on the spot. He didn't doubt the old man had more guns somewhere but Ko-jin knew this one wasn't one to take pot shots.

" I don't doubt that at all Beast. " Lapin said watching the beast shift back to his human form. Lapin stood slowly with hands held away from his waist as if to balance him self. Lapins eyes held a questioning expression, as if asking if it was alright to stand. His back ached from the pain and the cold, you could see the strain it had caused the old man to be pounced by the shifter in his were form. " I didn't keep tabs on the child." He answered, slightly annoyed at the expectation of this beast. Why was it his job to keep the current where abouts of a child. " Don't be so tense if I were going to attack I would have already and you know that, unless you've grown jumpy in your old age." He said as his last little verbal jab at the shifter.

"Tch, hunters keep pouring out of the weeds I have a reason to be jumpy." He grumbled but he forced himself to stop pacing and crossed his arms across his chest. "Surely you could remember what species you left him with at least. It would narrow it down."
He sighed then added. "Tell you what I'll make it worth your while, whatever tribe he's with would be free game for you as long as you let me and my son disappear this one time. You can presume coming after us after your done with them if you think it's worth it but there are enough territories-"

Lapin raised a hand at the offer to interupt. " As it stands I owe you my life, you had ever right to kill me, if this is what you've requested instead of my life then I am bound by my old code to at least help, a life for a life is a fair trade, is it not?"He suggested begrudingly.

Kojin thought for a moment and nodded, putting a grimy hand out to shake. "Alright then." Of course he had every intention to kill the man once his son was by his side but....details.

Lapin studied the face of the man before him, as if trying to peel back the layers and see how the gears were turning, after a moment he spoke. " I left him with the tiger clan, I figured they wouldn't be in the line of fire by this new bread of 'hunter ', the one's coming out of the weeds as you described. " He said the word hunter with a tone of irritation. He had a long list of reasons he didn't approve of this new generation of hunters but that was another topic all toget her. " As I recall the tribe should be around here, now before you get testy know that he wasn't my target, nor was his clan. I came here to hunt bear but odds are he's likely asleep at this point. " He said as to not raise the anger of the man.

Ko-jin raised his nose briefly in the air and turned to face the woods, thoughtfully, still keeping the hunter at least in the side of his vision. He harbored alot of hate for the man not just because he was a hunter but because he was THE hunter that tore down everything he had planned for his pride and the prides he'd spent years of his life watching and working with, protecting and shaping. This man and hunters like him as well as those quite unlike him ruined everything. Turned him from a potential king among his kind into a disheveled and grumpy old man. He was going to find his son.

"Do you have a plan or was ambushing me and hoping I'd cooperate it?" He asked looking for a tree to lean against.

"I know....at least a few of these territories though much has changed since I've been here, finding the tigers would only be a... small chore." He looked back at the old man, wondering if he should offer himself to lean against while he recovered enough to get to a tree. Begrudgingly he walked over to the old man and offered an arm. "Honestly my main plan was not to get shot."

"I'll be fine, just need a moment to let these old bones rest." he waved off the offer and moved himself to a pine. The relief offered by the tree was a tad worrisome to Lapin, he shouldn't be that sore after being jumped on. " I think your plan to avoid being shot worked so who knows."He looked over at his back pack and rifle that was partly covered by the ruins of his smashed shelter. " As a show of good faith I'll let you carry my rifle as we walk, fair?" he asked his eyes moving back to the shifter.

"I suppose so, and I will keep to my human form. I can track just as easily in any form but at least I won't claw your face off." He muttered accepting the rifle. He was not familiar with guns in the slightest and he held the weapon gingerly as if it might explode in his hands. Too many times had he seen skulls blown apart by these....devil machines.

Seeing the un-easiness of someone who didn't live with firearms lapin smiled a little. " It won't bite you, just keep your finger off the trigger." He couldn't help but chuckle a little.
It was odd seeing an older man who hadn't used a gun apparently.

Ko-jin scowled somewhat and resorted to the old military way of holding a rifle with it leaned against his shoulder. He huffed and looked over at Lapin. "I'd like to see you navigate using a 700lb body with the speed and skill of a were, then we'll see who chuckles." Ko-jin didn't have much of a sense of humor clearly. It was lost to years of following primal law.

"Pardon, I meant no offense." Lapin said going to get his back pack, fully turning his back on the were as a show of trust. He readied the backpack in a moment or two.

"Do you have a map?" Kojin asked as he rustled with his backpack. "We need a game plan, these forests go a long way."

"No, that would be cheating, what I remember of the map suggest that the nearest town is off south by about 15 miles. If we start soon we should get there by midday. They'll have a map and what not." He popped his neck to ease that twinge that had made it's self known upon shouldering his backpack. Now that he was awake for a while and his mind was running on all cylinders he seemed a few years younger , at least in spirit. " Hell , we can grab coffee while we are down there. " He said in a joking tone, humor was his coping mechanism when he knew he was at deaths door more or less.

Ko-jin shook his head but seemed at least to recognize that the old man was joking. Perhaps he even allowed a fleeting smirk to breach his wild appearance. "Alright then, to the town. I'm sure there is a panther territory pretty close by but a good look at the landscape will help me get a better idea." He shifted the rifle on his shoulder and started to walk with the old man down the mountain, southwards.

Lee stood up, panting heavily, before turning to get out of the crappy hole in the wall place she had gone into only a couple hours ago. Next time she really had to do better of her sense of direction and probably also actually check a place before she just crashed inside. She walked right into a hide-out for a panther couple new since the girl didnt seem pregnant and all the weres usually attempted to get babies as quick as possible. Something to do with the more there are the better territory or something along of the lines of that, she didnt actually care. The only thing Lee cared about at the time was this was an opportunity to get the feeling she had since that last kill out of her head and away from her for a while. She had been surprised though and she wasnt exactly sure how she got away with living either, they did have the advantage over her in a fair amount of ways.

When she had entered unannounced she had sworn that it was human footprints she had been following and there had only been on set of them too. Lee was ready for someone to suddenly look at her, maybe a "what the fuck", but not for two people to be there ready and waiting to pounce her. The man were went at her as soon as she noticed how screwed she might be, claws out and aiming for her throat and no questions on his mouth. Obviously this was another night that someone was going to die but Lee sure as hell was going to make sure that it was not going to be her. She rolled over to the side and away from his claws, although she felt the air move just behind her from him attempting to sideswipe her. Lee had spent many years at first hunting weres before going to humans making her instincts sharp when she would actually remember to use them. Not as sharp as theirs of course but sometimes you just need to outsmart instinct or just keep going until you see an opening.

She felt the back of her head and the bit of hair she was missing before making an angry gasp and grabbing her gun from its holster. Locking on she shot at the male while moving over to the female, lowering herself to shove her shoulder into her stomach and against the wall. Hearing the breathe leave her lungs Lee stepped back to use the butt of her gun against the female's head and aim once again at the male. He had only been clipped on his arm but it had still given her enough time to do something about his mate. He had started to lunge at her once again when she took her aim and shot at his head, she put it away as her left hand reached for her sword. Rushing forward she let out a yell and jumped at the male with the sword at his throat as they both fell to the ground. He tore at her shoulder but he had chosen the wrong one to go after as she pushed down on the sword and enough in his throat to stop him from doing anymore.

Her shoulder burned as she stood up not quite exhausted but her body did really want her to rest for a little bit. Ignoring that little cry she made her way back to the female to finish her off as well. When passed out the female had turned into her other self and now it was starting to wake back up, Lee was pretty sure she couldnt handle that with her shoulder that way. Looking around quickly she couldnt find anything that would help her so Lee did the first thing that came to her mind and used her sword. She used all of her might to cut off the females paw, needing to get her as useless as possible for this thing she had heard and wanted to find out. Lee had to sit on the female to finish the rest of her paws while her shoulder screaming became less and less from adrenaline. It was a good thing when she tried to break the female's jaw, having to use both hands and all of her might to do so.

With everything done she finally took the time to sit and stay still for a moment to get her breath back and look around at what she had done. Even with her jaw broken the panther was crying a lot, fairly loudly as well, while the male seemed like he had finally finished choking on his own blood. After taking everything in she pushed the heavy female so she is on her back and they both make eye contact as she pulls out her favourite knife, sweet smile gone as her crazy induced one widened on her face. Her cuts were soft, making sure to just get skin, making sure the organs would not be injured as she started skinning the female alive. Her screams rang in her ears as she stopped at the top of her chest before cutting down her legs and arms to make it easier to pull the skin away. Not that it let go of the muscle without a bit of a fight of course but somehow the female still was awake when Lee skinned the fur clean off of her leg.

Although she was amused Lee decided that it was time for the female to die, and they needed to pay back for taking some hair. Knowing she had to be quick Lee stood up and went to the male to finish with taking off his head and brought it back. She held him back the hair and moved it so the head would be in the females sight before she left a soft kiss on his cheek. As the screams continued she sat the head down beside her, although it was in her reach, and pulled out her special knife once again. She held it in her teeth as she had to use most of her strength to break the ribs that were starting to get in her way. Once they were out of the way she snapped to get the females attention before taking her knife and quickly severing the nerves to her heart. Lee had a short time period before the female died but she shoved the heart into the mans mouth and waved him in her slowly dieing eyes. When it seemed she was gone she tossed his head away and finished with the skinning.

Now at least she wouldnt accidentally freeze to death but Lee was starting to feel her shoulder again, it all just angered her more as she walked out. She left a nice little present for whoever finds the hideaway which really was just a couple of burned up bodies in a position that she was sure to make many feel sick to their stomach. She saw it was still light out when she looked around the blood still dripping from the fur and herself was beautiful on the snow. If she wanted to not get caught she would need to bathe soon although she decided that rolling in the snow would have to do. She left bloody footprints in the snow on the way to a nice deep snow bank, tossing everything away to quickly use the soap to wash it all away. When she was done and most of her was numb she changed back and did the same to the fur, careful to not rip any out during the cleaning.

With everything done she stood up and went towards the village that was on the edge of what she now knows was panther territory. She needed to find someone who will be able to back her out, especially since her clothes were covered in blood but she could blame that on being attacked and her shoulder. Either way she cant keep hunting by herself if shes going to continue she barely has any skin left unscarred on her body. Its not like it would be difficult to kill when they arent looking, Lee will probably just have to do more were than human now. A few hours later she found that finding people wouldnt be that hard if she just kept up her sweet little smile. As soon as she got into town people were besides themselve in helping her by taking her to the hospital, getting her new clothes, offering food, and more. Humans really are too nice for their own good. None looked like they would last long when traveling, not until she spotted two men who were walking towards the town. Since the hospital was just inside she was able to see them perfectly, if they were walking from where she thought then they were the perfect companions for her. Getting dressed she went to wait for them by the entrance and she would greet them when they were close enough by saying "Hey strangers, yall wouldnt happen to be goin somewhere would you? I saw you and thought yall looked fit enough to live when travelin." She brought out her sweet little smile that she learned to have as a child and crossed her arms, looking as hopeful as possible.

John had picked up on the way Riley had been acting since they left, his withdrawn quietness, the tears. At first he really did think Riley was just torn up about the mess they had landed themselves in. He'd been twice banned now and this time he's without a father. He put an arm around him as he sat down close. “I know it seems bad right now, but things will get better, I promise.”

It was what Riley muttered afterwards that caused John concern. "What do you mean by that?" He asked.

A low gutteral chuckle came from directly behind them. John whipped his head around to spot Ko-jin and Lapin seated at the table behind them. Ko-jin slurping some kind of iced drink from a cup. "Look at what we have here old man, an unlikely couple. A little boy lion and his tiger girlfriend, isn't that sweet." He cackled wickedly and John abruptly got to his feet a snarl on his face. The man was a pot bellied gruff wild looking man with tanned skin and golden eyes. Something about the structure of his face seemed familiar yet wildly strange at the same time. He harbored thick wild unkempt hair that seemed wiry and curly in patches. It came in a multitude of colors, a familiar sandy blond towards the roots fettered with a dull gray with a dark black-ish brown everywhere else. He also bore a fuzzy and unkempt goatee that went halfway to his chest a salt and pepper gray tipped with black. He wore a leather jacket and a pair of jeans just as John did but the shirt he wore with it was stained and grimy. All it took was a few minutes of breathing in his scent to know he was related very closely to john.

John had half turned into his were-form already, much to the old man's amusement. "Who the hell are you?!"

"Who do you think? You should mind your blood pressure, boy, there are humans here." He chuckled then turned to look Riley over, distaste evident from his face to the way he crumpled his cup when he was done with it. "You. Whatever it is you got going on with my son ends now, you hear? I'm not letting no fag run my pride, never seen no fag give you grandsons and great great grandsons."

John lost it. He shoved the old man hard enough to send him skidding over the table, rolling head over heels onto the dirt on the other side. John leapt up onto the picnic table, then down, on top of the old lion and drew his gun, thumbing off the safety and cocking it, aiming it between the old man's eyes. His hand was trembling badly and there was a real fury in his eyes "You'd best start explaining what the hell is going on here and now before I blow your fucking head to bits and eat it."

Ko-jin chuckled throatily, "like father like son, eh Lapin? I've been looking all over the ends of the earth for you. Alot of pain and sweat, yet you treat your own father this way."

“Enough!” The command came out as a roar. It held the tone of an Alpha with far more influence than he actually had, but it was enough to get the three of them to freeze in their tracks.

“There are children playing right over there.” He growled in a slightly less intimidating voice and pointed at the playground next to the picnic area.

“The last thing any of us wants to do is hurt or, worse, kill one those kids. So, John, put down the gun, that’s your father.” He was maintaining his composure far better than the other two weres were and as he started in his voice cracked ever so slightly

“You shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss him. He’s offering you something I can never give you, he can give you a pride, a family other lions and even cubs. Isn’t that what you wanted, to be with your own kind, with someone that won’t hurt you? You should at least listen to what he has to say.” He didn’t give him a chance to respond before he turned to the hunter.

“And you” He scowled “Take your hand off the sword, you’re not a samurai. Did you think I wouldn’t figure out who you were? Don’t get me wrong, you made it difficult, but you’re means of hiding is exactly what has given you away, hunter. Why that loin is working with you is beyond me, but right now, I don’t give a fuck.” He paced around a bit and then stopped right in front of him looking him in the eye so he knew how serious he was. His eyes noticeably changed from the icy sapphire blue to a dark navy almost black color. “You have quite the reputation in my tribe, hell throughout all the therian tribes in the area. They call you the ‘scentless one’. Of course you aren’t the original, you’d be over two hundred years old if that were the case, but you are one of the many hunters to bare this moniker. You were trained well, you hide your scent by becoming one with your surroundings, no colognes, fancy soaps or perfumes that make you humans so … pungent. But now that you’re out in the open with all these humans and you have no scent, your identity is clear. The hunter that has been stalking my tribe couldn’t be tracked by scent. But I also know you’re the last of a dying breed, you hunt with honor, you’d never just kill one of us right here, unless your life or one of the humans’ was in danger, there’d be no sport in it. I also know what you’ve done. You’re the man that killed my father. Tell me was it an honorable death? Did he know you were stalking him? Where you stalking him because he was the Sheseru? Did you want to learn the laws of my tribe so you could exploit them? It really doesn’t matter, the fact is that in the action of killing my father you have dishonored me twice. First, you killed my father, the man who raised me from a cub. The man who taught me the law. The Sheseru of the tribe, or as you would equate it a police chief. He was a man of honor, of pride. He trained and taught every one of the enforcers of my tribe and you took him from me. And second, you killed my father, the man who cracked my skull with a monkey wrench and knocked me out. The man who chained me to a car and dragged me for three hours across enemy territory to dump me in a neutral zone. The man who had his gang of enforcers beat the shit out of me until they thought I was dead. The man who decided to banish me from my home when he heard me moan and realized I was alive. The man whose dedication to his work and to his old ways, enabled him to throw away every memory, every positive thought and every accomplishment over two simple words. That man was to die at my hands, not yours. Tell me, what is the punishment you give another hunter who poaches your kill? I doubt you let him survive. You owe me blood, hunter, twice over and you will pay that debt, but not here, not now. I too have honor and this is not the time nor place, but before we start the game please answer me this: why? Why do you hate the therians? What have they done to hurt you? My tribe hunts only animals and has never hurt a human apart from self defense. Is it really just a simple blind hate? Perhaps you are on the wrong side of this fight. It’s not a full on war right now, but it’s really just a matter of time. The humans in charge of your government, they know about us. They’re sending their own ’hunters’ whose only code of honor is how much money they get for the kill. But they aren't here just to kill, they’re coming to trap us too. They want clone us or splice our DNA with humans or some other bullshit like that, but in the end they won’t kill us, they want to control us. They’ll breed an army of super soldiers with therian DNA. Eventually they will turn on the government and the humans in general, do you really want to see this turn into a war or would you rather make a compromise? I propose you only hunt those who hunt humans, there are still plenty of therians that do, especially those damn wolves, you spread fear throughout the therians, but for the honorable reasons. Be the hunter to let them know that we are to live alongside humans and not treat them as a food source. Hunt the other hunters too, let them know that the title of hunter is one of honor not one that can be given to any idiot who can pull a trigger. Do me this honor and I will call your debt filled, or we can pick this up on less pleasant terms.”

He extended a hand to shake. He hoped his words had appealed to the hunter’s sense of honor. If any of the legends of the scentless hunter were true, he had a code that he lived by and was a man of his word. He only hoped that he hated the therians enough to not want to see an all out war. Riley believed he would make a far better ally than an enemy.

The silence was broken by Ko-jin's cackle. "At least someone here has an ounce of common sense." He said, leering up at his son. "Come on, John. You're not a tiger, you're a lion. It's time you learned what that really means."

John removed the gun from his father's face. "I've done perfectly fine learning what it means on my own." He growled darkly. "My father's been dead 22 years. Even if he weren't dead I wouldn't let him march up here making my decisions for me. Not now, not after all this time. He let my mother die, let my half brothers and sisters die and let me get taken away. 22 years ago he let me get taken by none other than THIS jackass!" He pointed accusingly at Lapin. "And YOU have some serious nerve coming here with MY father after the two of us after all you've done! Riley might not kill you for the shit you've done but i'm sure as hell considering it!"

John's voice gradually rose in volume as he spoke until he shouted the last sentence at Lapin. He fought to keep from transforming into his full were form, glancing over at the playground. "I bet it's easy for you traipsing around the territories gun at your side killing thierians like you're doing some kind of vermin sweep. It must be grand not having to look back at the damage you've done to the ones you leave behind. The ones who have to grow up wondering what the hell happened to their parents the ones who will never get to be with their own kind. Honor my ass. You're more coward than any hunter I've seen yet."

John stepped back from the tables. "The two of you can just.....go back where ever the hell you came from. I only want one thing and one thing only, to find a safe place away from the hunters away from fathers who don't know shit but the cut throat expectations of their clans. I don't want a Pride, I don't want three or four wives and ten cubs. I don't even KNOW you. All I want is to be with Riley. I want our hot, confused, messy relationship, I want to work things out and learn new shit about myself and to learn new shit about him."

Ko-jin stood up, jaw tightening. The glare he was giving was enough to silence even John. Ko-jin was on another level of alpha, whether it was in his scent or in the way he carried himself now it made it impossible for any of them to meet eyes with him. He put a hand on John's shoulder. "I got to give it to you, kid, that was cute but I've heard enough. This....star crossed lover bullshit. I've seen it before, in humans. But you know what? You're not a human. You mate to create more of your species a strong bloodline to pass your genes. You're the only son I've got left. My last....chance. He put an arm around John and looked into his pale green eyes, his expression softening. "You look a lot like your mother. She was just as stubborn....as star crossed as they come. This isn't healthy for you son. I can already see how you're hurtin' from it. You're a lion, not somebody's bitch."

John looked down. "No....I..." He blinked away tears that formed as it finally sunk in that it was his father that was right there. His father, flesh and blood. "I can't....he means...too much to me I can't just fucking leave him." John pushed him away again. He looked over at Riley, pleadingly. "You can't seriously be asking me to go with him after all we've been through. I've been at your back for 22 fucking years. I spent the ENTIRE time you where gone trying to find you and you think I can just forget about it for what...for cubs and wives? Did you ever stop to think that by now I could have left the tribe. I could have left and found lions on my own instead of spending that time to find you."

Seeing John’s pleading, painful expression tore through into Riley’s very soul. He walked closer to him and looked into the pale green eyes he’d fallen in love with.

“REALLY?! What the fuck?” he growled with his eyes now back to their icy blue and filled with tears. “Are you seriously throwing this back on me? Did ya not get the memo that I imprinted? The mere thought of being without you causes me pain on levels even I don’t fully understand. Of course I’m not asking you to just give up the best 22 years of our lives. I love you in a way I can’t even begin to put into words and I really don’t want you to go with him. I just wanted you to consider all your options before you did something stupid like shoot your father in the head. What kinda friend would I be if I didn’t give you every possible option for happiness? All I want is for you to be happy, if it meant giving you up to do so I would do it. I would do anything for you John. “ He lifted the hair at the back of his neck and with his other hand grabbed John’s free hand and place it on his mark. “No matter what you decide, I’m yours. This is permanent. You were never my bitch,” he glared right into the eyes of Ko-jin in spite of his alpha vibe he was giving off “but you will always be my mate.”

He saw a look of rage building in the eyes of Ko-jin. His son had marked and mated with a male tiger. Riley wrapped his arms around John and held him close. “Please don’t go.” He whispered.

Lapin looked at the young man. Pleasantly surprised that he noticed that he had not scent.
He listened to the boys rant and accusations, seeing the boys logic before it unfolded he knew what the lad was getting at.

"I died trying to save you." He answered rather plainly. " I didn't stalk your tribe and learn their ways, your father opted out of that and chose to fight me alone rather than put you and yours in danger. Had the thought occurred to you that your father pushed you away for a reason? Or are you so blind by your hate that you cannot see the long term effects of his death? He gave you a chance and you've squandered it. He let him self be captured to give you a few more hours to get away.... He endured things that would make your skin crawl.... " He said the last bit with a bit of disgust as he watched the kids on the playground thinking. Children don't see father than them selves... and all the old men were dying off. This was as much his failing as theirs being the older generation of human or human like creature. He'd think on that more later.

"As for this government interaction you're talking about I have no duty to protect you. In fact only by this man and your fathers grace are you still standing. My personal reasons for hunting your kind is the same as why you defend yours even tho you've been disowned by them. For the most part we tend to only hunt those that hunt humans as you've suggested , however the old hunters like my self also were required to keep your numbers lean. These modern hunters wipe your kind out. I've done you more favors than you know." His expression went from calm to pained as he spoke. " Can you say that you've slain your brothern to protect your enemy? The very fact that this one still is alive was due to hunter's blood on my hands" He spoke quietly as to not draw to many onlookers , there were already enough of them.

" We can speak of this another time however.... Might I suggest we leave this place so the local authorities don't find men with guns by a playground." He looked at john.

" And you, you need more respect for that weapon, drawing your weapon in anger only assures it will fail you in your time of need, As for my honor. I believe the phrase is 'Go fuck your self' in your youthy vernacular. I'm the only reason you're alive boy." He answered with a bit of anger fraying the edges of his otherwise pleasant tone.

"Ko-jin, ease your anger at your boy, Let him love as he will, he has a duty to pass on your family seed and knows it. That should be enough for even a hothead to understand and know what needs to be done. " he urged quietly supporting the boys knowing how their situation was.
