The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 3 authors

"Alright," Crystal groaned. It was a Sunday. No school, and it was 7AM. Why does mom want me to get up again? Last time Crystal's mom woke her up early was to beat her-nothing else. She had always been coming in late, as a Timer, so her mom would always be seething, waiting until the morning to hurt her. At least she was considerate enough to wake me up at 7, Crystal thought.
When she was on duty, her pager showed dots, red or blue, according to their moods. Red stood for miserable, those people wanted time to quicken. If majority of the dots were like this, Crystal slowed time, clicking a red button. If someone was feeling extreme elation or sadness, etc, the dot would change to orange, and beep loudly, and I would manipulate the time specifically for that person, the tricky thing was, that I had to make sure, that sooner or later, everyone's time matched up to the measurement of each second.
Although this job was cruel, grueling, and pointless, Crystal felt like her questions had been answered. She always wondered why time seemed so... strange-everything always went in opposites.Crys now had her answer. She had been a timer for 4 years, but she had never used her powers-except... for the time when she killed her best friend-on accident. Ever since then, Crys has never, ever, spoken of ice, used ice, or even bothered to think of it.

Emmanuelle, or Ev, as everyone referred to her, was tired. She had woken up at five and gone out on a run. She came back at six, showered, and ate breakfast, but still felt the effects of her long, grueling run. She looked at her pager, now, sitting in her artist's workshop-- the attic, where no one in her family but her ever went.
"Alright. There's the one in the town next door due in a couple of hours, and then the one in the nursing home." Ev muttered, noting down the locations of the two red dots on her pager. The red dots were the ones that had to be taken care of before all the others, her highest priorities.
For a Sunday, it was quiet. She knew that in the next few hours her family would wake up, and start their normal morning routine. It would become loud and boisterous, and there would be chaos downstairs as her two brothers and parents got ready for their Sunday schedules. Her mom would work in the house, her dad would work outside, and her brothers had football and soccer practices. She was left to her own devices, at least for the next few hours.

Crys stalked out of her house, sad, angry, and moody. Her mom had hit her again, which in itself was really no big deal anymore, because it had been this way since she was kid, but this time... She needed to blow off some steam, and just think about things freely, without her mom peering over her shoulder, saying that she had to do this, or do that. Crys had been walking for a while when she looked down at her legs, and saw.... Her fluffy flannel blue cow pajamas. Almost as soon as she realized that, her pager started beeping. Oh great.
Zipping the black case shut, Alchemy stood up and clutched the handle of the black case tightly as she began the short trek from the coffee shop back to her house. Glancing at her watch, she sighed; it was later than she thought. Of course, she had missed her 'lunch date' with her older siblings, but that wasn't anything new. Alchemy wasn't entirely sure why they continued attempting to meet up with her. Almost as soon as she had the thought, her phone began buzzing; sporadically at first, but then insistently. It didn't stop until she was arriving at home and relieved to see that her siblings, despite her avoidance, had not come to the house. At least not yet. She knew they would come eventually, demanding to know why she always avoided them. Everyone always did, and Alchemy always did her best to ignore them until they went away.
Heading inside, she locked the door behind her and collapsed onto the couch, one of the few furniture items in the house. Setting her guitar case delicately on the floor beside it, Alchemy pulled a couple pennies from her pocket and stacked them in her palm. Closing her eyes, Alchemy held the image of the pennies in her mind's eye before she began editing the mental picture; subtly at first, but then more, changing the pennies into a little copper guitar charm. This was her other 'job,' changing the cheapest coins she received into something she could make a few bucks off of. Sure, it gave her a headache sometimes, but every dollar counts when you don't have a 'real job.'
Ev messed around in her studio. She rearranged some things, and started working on a finely detailed drawing of a leaf. Promptly at eight, she stopped everything, and started going downstairs, stopping in her room to change. She was wearing yet another one of her all-black ensembles. Today it was a black dress, black tights, and black flats.
She slowly closed the doors behind her, making sure they were locked, and started walking to the train station, to go into the next town. She looked at her pager to read about the first of today's missions. Which just happened to be a baby. Ev hated it when it was a baby. They were just little babies.
She got off the train, and walked into the library, where she grabbed a book and pretended to read as she entered in the combination on her pager. She felt her spirit disengage from her body, which still looked like it was reading.
Ev frowned at her spirit's outfit, which was still all-black. Not suitable for a baby, although it probably wouldn't be able to tell. She concentrated on altering her spirit self, which was easy, since it was her spirit. There. Much better as a white sundress.
She slowly floated towards the hospital, where the baby was currently admitted.

Crys arrived at the double doors, panting. She was still wearing her pajamas, so people stared curiously at her. She ignored the stares, and walked into the hospital.
C wing. Crystal looked up at the sign, trying to look for the person. She looked back down at her beeper, then to a woman with long blonde hair who was crying in her hospital bed.
"My.. baby... Is... gonna....," The lady choked, "d-d-diee?" the woman shuddered and quivered.
