Introduction
Soon though the real world and the dream world seem to meld into one as well as themselves. It is up to these eight people to decide the fate of both. Do they wish to go back to the reality they grew up in? Or would they rather they live in a dream?
Each one has their own motives. But remember not all dreams are perfect and beautiful, some are nightmares. And there seems to be one person who is trying to block their path.

The cemetery was always taken care of but the grass now was brittle from frost making an odd crunching sound when stepped on. More than a few houses had icicles hanging from the roof and from tree branches that slowly dripped down getting thinner and sharper. At the hospital people entered and went crunching the salt on the ground and watching as a worker carefully snapped off the icicles so they would not fall and hurt anyone.
At night people would dream their nonsensical dreams, some of what happened that day, others derived of movies or shows they had seen, a few of what they should write next in their book. And a handful of others about the world they had been dreaming about for a while now, and always as the same character. Their dreams did not always pick up where they left it, yet at different points in their charactersβ lives, from one day into the next day or next week.
In that world it was early summer, the forest was hum with activity as the High Elves strung out lanterns of light in celebration of the coming Summer Queen, who would be blessing their city high in the trees. Elsewhere in the forest the Beastlings packed their supplies to head to the High Elf city for their wares and to sell their own. In the cavern in a clearing of the same forest lurked the Dark Elves cursing their cousins names and sharpening their blades. The only thing that seemed unaffected in the forest was a hidden house blended into the forest near the desert, where a human figure could be seen in the distance by the ones with sharp eyes, carrying sword and wearing a sandy cloak and looking around to see if anything could be spotted that could be potentially be a danger to him and to others. A tree barely rustled as someone lowered their bow quietly.
The Desert was in its own celebration, the Ifrits were roaring and sparring with one another in the coming heat and flames, this is when they would be strongest, this is what they have been waiting for. Soon they would attack the Shivas as their king had planned! Soon they would be bothered no more by their cold ways that lurked in the mountains.
In a mountain that seemed to be still, in mid-winter, activity could be spotted by pale blue skinned humans, they fortified their defenses and laid traps, gathering their armor and weapons. A tall woman wearing no shoes or anything that could be considered appropriate for this type of weather, at least from a human stand point, looked on and helped where she could causing the others to gasp or their icy eyes to widen.
Near the Shivas city was a lone lich, not an uncommon sight around here but one that caused the few humans to shudder a bit at his appearance and give him a wide berth, he looked down the mountain and seemed to see past it towards the ocean.
At the ocean the fishermen hauled in their catch earplugs in their ears, the Sirens have been rowdier than usual today, as well as the Mers been mischievous. One boat rocked back and forth as something bumped on the bottom. They cursed under their breath as they saw a mer poke her head out before diving back into the water not apologizing at all. The Fishermen went to an island nearby and saw males with scales and slit eyes talking to a siren woman with purple red eyes on the beach all looking comfy and with no care in the world. On the other side of the island was a Ifrit looking with big eyes and fire hair walking around his eyes seemed to have an excited expression on his face, he did not speak much and most islanders seemed to ignore him or give him a wide berth to walk in, him looked up to the sky, not noticing the female clad in tight clothing that he bumped into who had purple hair and a ever present smirk on her face.
High in the sky the Avains were fighting off yet another wyrm that had tried to attack their city, some letting out cries of anger as they attacked with their talons, those that had them that is, while others fired from their lightly crafted bows or attacked with their light swords or other weapons. One of the three rulers swooped down as a giant bright colored bird with a hawk like screech and clawed one of their eyes out and continued to attack until eventually the wyrm thought better of attacking and left with a roar of painβ¦and warning. The great bird looked down upon the world and let out a sigh. It could sense that things were about to change.
Somewhere far away in an elegant castle an eerie laughter filled the halls, they could sense the change that was about to happen as well and they had a plan to make it the change they wanted.
His fingers scrambled as he grabbed a branch and sighed in relief as he slowly climbed down the tree, his hands shaking, he did not dare to look down. Reaching the ground he grabbed his chest panting for breath. He looked around and darted to his grotto. He bumped into an older man on his way, βHey watch it kid!β the man yelled at him. βS-S-sorryβ¦β Shigeru managed to say stuttering over his words as he ran, he took the back route trying his best to avoid people. He hated to be surrounded by people, and since he was bullied so much he stayed locked up in his room, only sneaking out to go to his grotto. He ran through the cemetery on the way the frosted grass crunching slightly under his feet. His sweater and sleeve got caught on a bushes prickly branches and he tugged it free, slightly revealing a few scars on his wrist.
He finally reached the grotto and sighed in relief seeing no one there. He sat underneath a tree and took out a well-worn fantasy book and started to read it pushing his glasses back into placesβ¦this was his sanctuary away from peopleβ¦from nagging, and bullies.
He doesnβt know how long he was there but soon he felt himself drift off into sleepβ¦
Kalan Zakn AuvryβGhym woke up from his sleep and walked outside of his βhouseβ though it was not a regular shaped house, or even where many would consider to live. It was the hollowed out trunk of an old dead tree. He nudged the camouflage blanket a bit and checked to make sure there was no one of any kind there. His red gleaming eyes did not spot anyone, though they did not work so well in the light, but the sun was setting soon so they worked better than if it had been midday. He slung his cowl on as well as his quiver over his head and grabbed his bow. He quietly walked outside his boots not even breaking a twig as he listened. He needed to go hunting β¦there was no avoiding that. He let out a soft sigh and headed to the grotto nearest to the desert a few hardy, and tasty, halla grazed there. He made sure he stayed down wind of them, he saw them and an almost evil grin appeared on his face. He readied an arrow drawing it back and was about to release it, when he and they heard a noise coming from the desert. He cursed in his native tongue under his breath and ran to a tree quickly leaping to the lowest branch and climbed up making sure none of the branches so much as shuddered as he saw someone, a human, approaching wielding a sword and knives. He kept his arrow aimed on him and frowned before he lowered it, making none of the leaves rustle as he watched the wanderer carefully.
She walked home forlorn and opened the door taking of her shoes off and leaving them at the door as she looked the doors behind her and went to her room speaking to no one as she plopped down on her bed and sobbed herself to sleep.
Yumiko woke up with a start as something banged on the doorway. She yawned lifting up her pale blue arms and put on her white dress as she ran a hand through her short spiky blue hair. She let out a sigh her breath icy as she attached her ice crystal pendulam like a belt and walked to the door opening it to see a male shiva guard. "What is it?" she asked him. "Milady the queen has asked you to evacuate the castle." he told her bowing. She shook her head, "I am not leaving when the Ifrits are at our doorsteps!" she told him, "Tell Queen Shiva I shall be fighting in the battle if I leave now I will only prove to the people that I am not fit to become the next Shiva." she told him as she bypassed him and glided down the mountain showing the villagers where to go as she reached the edge of the mountain and looked down seeing the burning flames of the Ifrits. "...they gathered a lot of their army...it seems their Chief King is with them too..." she whispered as she joined the forces most of them saluting her she sighed, "I am here as a warrior not as the Princess. I will fight beside you...and if I fall I will fall and someone else will be named the princess." she told them as she unclipped her crystal pendulam and got it ready for battle. "May Sala and Shadi guide our path!" she told them and saluted them as she formed armor on her using ice magic.
Though one wouldn't guess it by what she was doing currently. Residing in the turret, up a case of spiral stairs lead to a room painted in a shade of dark blue that was stuck somewhere between midnight an navy, was sitting a teenage girl with, surprise surprise, dark blue hair. Her face was bathed in the dull glow of her laptop and she was muttering softly to herself. βDie beast! Die!β It seemed that she was playing one of her many mmorpgs, this one was called Winter Fire, it was her favorite one. She was playing as her main character Avalian, an elven warlock with ice blue hair and yellow eyes. She was currently killing a bunch of snakes for their fangs, a quest item that she needed. Then, right as she was about to kill her last dread snake...her internet went out! βOH COMEON!β She yelled at her computer, slamming a balled fist onto the desk, the red bull can shaking. She hated when her parents did that! They thought she was now spending way to much time on her computer then going out with friends or trying to get a better job then drawing and selling her own comics.
Little did they know that she DID have a second better paying job. Albeit it wasn't exactly something her parents would be proud of. Their homeschooled little girl was selling essays online, and getting paid very well for it. She had a separate bank account that wasn't connected to theirs, and always gave a reason to why she could afford new things, like she sold a lot of comics that week. Speaking of comics she supposed she should go back on working the newest page. She pushed herself off of her chair and hobbled over to her drawing desk, plopping down with a sigh. What would Rue say to her wizard teacher? She stared at the half finished page, running her fingers through boyish cut blue hair before letting out an exasperated sigh. She just couldn't think of it.
Kyla, known as Kyle to her larping buddies, Watson decided that was that, she would go to bed and get some sleep, caving into her parents passive aggressive demand. She pushed her hands on her desk, sending the rolling chair backwards towards her bed before she stopped it and crawled into bed. Taking off what was needed in order to sleep comfortably. She stared at her anime posters covering her ceiling before finally drifting off to sleep.
Yali Stromrider awoke in the middle of her usually resting spot, a sunken log on the edge of naga and mer territory. Her red purple eyes surveyed the areas, looking for some of her naga friends. Many people would find it odd that she hung out more with nagas then her mer relatives, or even her more kind. Even more so since nagas didn't get along with her mer relatives, and there for she shouldn't be friends with them. But honestly she didn't care about the war, or what her kind thought. She liked her naga friends, they were kind to her and answered her questions.
The siren slowly stretched before swimming up to the surface and towards her friend Srinivas's house, only stopping to put on her glamour. But there was something wrong with her glamour, well her really. She could only transform her gills, making them fish like or amphibian. She couldn't change how she looked, which frustrated her to no end. But Srinivas was used to that, mocked her for it yes, but he was just teasing her. She crawled up to land and into her friends cave.
βHello? You home Slither?β A nickname she had given him when they first met and she couldn't figure out how to pronounce his name. She could now pronounce his name...but called him Slither to piss him off.
βYes Sushi, I am home and what are you doing here?β A deep velvety voice responded as a green haired naga slithered into the light. By naga standards he was a looker, to her. Well he still was a looker but more her friend then anything else. Plus...well Slither didn't slither that way.
βYou invited me over, remember. I sang for you so you are going to tell me more about the human realm.β
βOh yes, that is right...alright darling. I will tell you more about the human world.β
And with that her naga friend started to spin a tale of magic, knights, kings and queens. Of food and dancing and being seen. It was a tale that most people would find uninteresting, having lived it and seen it. But to her it was a fantasy world, she barely ever traveled to human cities, her looks preventing her for the most part. Only the towns on the edge of the oceans would not mind her looks. But she wanted to see so much more...if only she had something to cover her body up more. But seaweed was all she had. That is...
βOh, I got you something from one of the markets, they were selling these beautiful robes that would compliment your skin, eyes, lips and hair. It was hard to find but for you I would do anything. I know how much you want to travel.β And with that he took something out of the shaded area of the cave and handed it to her. It was long gray robe with a dull purple sash that drapped off the shoulder and onto her hip. Yali let out a squeak of happiness and gave her friend a happy hug. βFor that you deserve another song. But first let me try this on!β
She quickly slipped the robe over her skin and her small seaweed outfit, he was right as always, it did suit her to a T. βOh it is beautiful! Thank you so much!β
βYes, yes. I am amazing and sexy I know I know.β Srinivas said, waving his hand in a dismissive manner. βBut less praise and more singing. I love your voice, it is like the coming of a storm, calm but with a strength behind it.β
Her cheeks turned a nice purplish color before she opened her mouth and started to sing.
βTwas Friday morn when we set sail β¨And we were not far from the land β¨When the captain, he spied a lovely mermaid β¨With a comb and a glass in her hand
O the ocean's waves will roll β¨And the stormy winds will blow β¨While we poor sailors go skipping to the top β¨And the landlubbers lie down below (below, below) β¨And the landlubbers lie down below
And up spoke the captain of our gallant ship β¨And a well-spoken man was he β¨I have me a wife in Salem by the sea β¨And tonight she a widow will be
And up spoke the cookie of our gallant ship β¨And a red hot cookie was he β¨Saying I care much more for my pots and my pans β¨Than I do for the bottom of the sea
Then up spoke the cabinboy, of our gallant ship β¨And a nasty little lad was he. β¨I'm not quite sure I can spell "mermaid" β¨But I'm going to the bottom of the sea.
Then three times around went our gallant ship β¨And three times around went she β¨Three times around went our gallant ship β¨And she sank to the bottom of the seaβ
It was a song about her mer cousins, one that she found amusing and her friend seemed to like it. Her voice was loud and clear, with a quiet strength behind it. She started off singing softly, but started to become louder and louder. She wasn't sure if anyone would be able to hear her, if there was a mer or another being near by.
Just another ordinary day in the Cross household. Yuki sighed, her so-called mother's squalling grating on her ears as the old witch misinterpreted the bruises the young heiress now sported all over her face and body, a matching set to the ones she had gotten last week. Apparently, the idea that she might not be popular through no fault of her own had never occurred to the overbearing lady.
"...You hear me?! I'm ashamed of you! Always going out every day and..."
Sure. It was her fault that someone had "accidentally" pushed her into the school swimming pool. It was HER fault that a punk who didn't take kindly to being rejected had smacked her in the face with a wooden baseball bat to take her so-called pride down a notch. Yes, everything was her fault. That was a story she had heard all too many times before.
"Get out of my way," She muttered, glaring daggers at her "mother" as she rambled on. While she was technically blood related, Yuki didn't really think of her as such. There was no love lost between them. No feeling - except maybe mutual hatred - or any of that sentimental trash that was supposed to connect a daughter to her parent.
"What did you say, little miss?!" The woman hissed, grabbing her by the chin and forcing her face upward, the sudden jerking motion bringing a fresh smarting to the dark purple bruise splotches adorning the left half of her face. Yuki let out a quiet grunt of pain, but forced herself to remain silent and perfectly stoic. She wasn't going to show any signs of weakness. That meant the old tormentress had won. "You think you can just stalk in here after getting into a fight, ignore me completely and get off scott free? Well you've got another thing coming to you!"
"I suppose I do. So what's the punishment? No dinner before bed? Confinement to my room? I don't care. Or perhaps you'll make me sit here and listen to you babble your nonsensical trash for the next few hours? The funny part is, that one's actually a little bit frightening." Setting her gaze like one might ready a lance, she gave a fiery glare directly into the bloated, self-important woman's face, grabbing her by the wrist and wrenching her mother's hand from her chin, making a point to brush off her face as though it had been dirtied by the assault.
"Why you arrogant little brat!" A loud crack sounded through the air as the old woman drew back her free hand, slapping Yuki hard in the face, giving her the print of a crimson hand on her right cheek to match her bruised and battered countenance. Her head recoiled backward, but she stood firm, fighting back the tears called up by the agonizing pain now once more tearing across her face, as though she was being drowned in boiling water. "Don't get all important with me! You know full well-"
"That everything's my fault?" She snarled, brushing her face in a futile attempt to wipe away the pain. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've heard that a few times before. But you know what? I don't even care anymore. Fine. You're right. It's all my fault! It's my fault that you got a flat tire on the way to work today! It's my fault your goldfish starved to death last week! Oh, and why don't you blame me for the bread getting stale too? These bruises, the injured pride of my esteemed family, my low social status, and the fact that my life's a living hell, it's all my fault! Now that I've said what you wanted me to, bitch, get out of my way!" It was the first time she raised her voice that night, and the sudden roar of retaliatory anger and grief caught the domineering old woman off guard. Before she could even muster a "What did you say?" or some extended scolding, Yuki stormed forward with all the bravery of a soldier making a suicidal charge for glory, god, and great homeland, and shoved her mother aside and stalked away, heading quickly up the stairs, and to her only refuge. As a screech of rage erupted from behind her, she turned for just an instant.
"I'm going to bed, so good night. Here's praying I don't wake up again."
And with that, she entered her room, slamming the door behind her. She locked it, bolted it, and then - because you could never be too sure - pulled a bookshelf in front of it, blocking exit off entirely. Half ripping the collar of her still-dripping blouse undone, she stripped the soaked garment - courtesy of her wonderful classmates - free from herself, toweled herself off as best she could, and tossed herself down into her bed without even bothering to change into her pajamas. Who cared, anyway?
She shut her eyes, and within a minute was already beginning to drift off. Yes, controlling the dreams had become a bit easier now. She had a feeling that if she kept her concentration, she might even be able to overturn her old record of two days of constant sleep and dreaming before the needs of her Human body dragged her back to the real world. She was going to need to sleep like that more often, she realized. Otherwise, it would be difficult to set up all of the necessary preparations for her scheming in time to execute her plans...
And so, throwing away her earthly cares as best she could, she drifted off and entered the world of the dream...
Despair strode swiftly down the corridor of the old castle. It had once belonged to a powerful Ifrit lord, but after she extinguished his flames, the castle had fallen to her rule. The flying illusion palace of Agris was not exactly a vacation home, but it served its purpose. Its location being cloaked by her powers of darkness, there was no immediate threat of her presence being noticed, nor the location of that treasure she protected with her moving fortress: the first pillar.
Finding it had been remarkably easy, considering the Ifrit who had built the palace had been using it to empower himself. His presence was practically a scream in the silent void of the desert, to those who were keen enough to notice it. True, he had hidden his palace well, and all those that found it had been summarily killed - except her, that is.
It was satisfying to know that, although her plans had only just been set in motion, already, one of the five things she needed to complete her goals was in her very grasp. Now, all she needed to do for now would be consolidate her power, before anyone even realized there was a threat to the world. If she could gather enough strength to break down the pillar before she was noticed, then there would only be four problems for her to deal with in the face of resistance, which would be a most welcome convenience compared to the other option.
Yes, everything was proceeding just according to plan.
After hours of work he finally was done. He picked up his coat and started walking to the elevator as his boss stood next to him. "Did you finish everything Mr. Eyal" said his boss, with eyes that were scanning him at every moment. "Yes I did sir um.... sir I was wondering if I might have tomorrow off" said Joshua. "Why is that" said his boss. "I haven't slept in 3 days sir I need it to recuperate" with his eyes barely holding themselves up. His boss thought for a moment and said " Alright I'll give you your day off but be prepared to work even harder the next day". Joshua let out a sigh of relief and took the elevator to his car. He then drove home to his apartment and walked over to a bar near his apartment and nursed a drink for a while while thinking about his situation. His parents couldn't afford college so he had to work for his classes and his food in his stomach. He felt like his life was in overkill that at just at any moment his life could just fade away at any moment. His eyes looked across and saw a girl talking to her friends, she seemed pretty cute and he thought he might talk to her but as soon as the thought appeared it disappeared. He just watched them, he figured it was better not to start and not fail then to walk up to her and be rejected. After he finished his drink he left the bar and walked home. He took a quick smoke outside of the apartment while looking up at the street lamps above the street. He walked into his room where he found a used apartment room with an empty room filled with paper work and home work. He took off his coat and plopped on the bed his eyes staring into the abyss. He played some music from his list of cds and stared at the ceiling. He started thinking about his worries, exasperation's and their implications the feeling of diving in too deep was his only thought until he finally lost consciousness and fell asleep away from it all.
The suns rays hit the sand near Farshand as he finally opened his eyes. He yawned as he got up and stretched and moved around. After scratching his head Farshand smiled and looked at the path in front of him. He put his hands to the ground and legs into sprinting position. He looked straight in front of the path, straight in front of adventure, of new promises and dreams to be achieved. "Ready, set, go" said Farshand as he leaped up from the ground and shot down the path with impressive speed. He could feel the suns rays on his back filling him with energy that filled his very veins. He loved this feeling to him there was nothing better than this feeling of freedom. The sands pasted by him quickly as he sped through the scenery. After some time he caught a whiff of a smell he had never smelled before. It was bitter but it was unlike anything he had smelled. It was potent and it didn't seemed to bother him at all it was actually pleasing. He headed to the smell and the sands turn from gold to white as he got closer to the smell. He saw a hill of sand in front of him that he leaped upon with great force. As he got up he beheld something he had never seen before. It was water but it looked like it never ended. "Woooooooooooo..... is this what they call an ocean" said Farshand as he put his hand above his eyes allowing him to see further. He smiled with a child like glee and ran up to the edge. He watched the waves crash into the sands for some time until he finally got the courage to put his feet to the water. As it washed over him he felt the cool and pleasing water chill his feet. "That feels great I should have done this years ago" he said to himself as he layed on the beach. Suddenly however he heard a song being sung in the distance. He stood up and put his hand to his ear to better hear it. It was an alluring song one he had not heard before. He thought carefully he had heard tales of beings who lived near oceans that lured men to their death with their songs. This thought lasted for only a moment before he smiled and said "well no use letting the song go to waste might as well give who ever is singing it an audience" as he sprinted for the source of the song.
Krissaadi Spelloyal walked into the ocean city her purple hair blowing in the wind as she surveyed the area; she got quite a bit of stares as she walked, which was not unusual for her. After all she was wearing pants in public, and not just pants but tight pants. She wore a loose tunic as well and black leather boots. She was bumped aside by an ifrit, a rare sight in this outskirt city; she winced as her bare skin heated up greatly but quickly. Before she could say anything he ran off. She let out a sigh as her grey eyes followed him. ββ¦not worth followingβ¦β she muttered as she headed to an ocean tavern, she could hear the sounds of drunken sailors and knew that she may be able to find a boat here. She opened the doors and walked in heading straight to the bar.
"Yo! Wait up there Ace!" A large guy around 6'1 and with a matching stout and sturdy build with some extra fat bumbled up towards him.
"Oh, its you Kentaro.." Ryuuske replied in a tired drovel.
"Dude, you hear about that girl that got clubbed today? I hear that they won't find the
culprits because of lack of evidence, what a load of crap man. This better all settle
down before the season starts.." Stated Kentaro with a concerned look on his almost babylike face.
"Don't give me that look man, I don't plan on getting into any fights, thats what the
training is about in the first place right? Speaking of which, I am absolutely beat today, leftovers of first day jitters I suppose"
"Hah! whatever man, you have never been the type to struggle with academics. You will
be fine. Well, I'll swing by in the morning, Super Bodyguard Kentaro Mashima at your
service!" He bowed in a creepy host-club style way that made Ryuuske laugh and gag at
the same time, interesting phenomina.
Encroaching upon the run down sports bar that his parents run, he went in through the kitchen, saying hi to the chefs and patting the bartender Yoshiya on the shoulder and he quickly slid through the cluster of drunk salarymen and up the stairs where he went into his room. Various posters of baseball stars, some of his favorite anime and bookshelves laden with the best literature on the left and his favorite manga on the right. He crouched down and opened up a large box in the corner where he stored all his weekly manga issues. He grabbed the latest one and read it absentmindedly and he got the familiar twinge feeling at the tip of his amygdala while prepelled him into the world of dreams.
................
Jo'Shu's eyes twinkled with glee as he let out a huge roar of a laugh. He grabbed a particularily pretty ifrit girl with jet black hair "I'll be back in a moment baby, don't go missin' me too hard now!" Joshu walked to the edge of the desert and was walking among the trees when he spotted a a glorious sight. There was a beautiful woman bathing there, complete with all sorts of lucious curves in all the right places and very long night blue hair. Joshu grinned, retrieved one of his swords from his belt and could not help but evilly giggle a bit as he disrobed, took a deep breath and charged through the bushes towards the woman stark naked, sword in hand yelling
"Don't worry honey! Joshu is coming to lighten up your day!"
Yali used to be worried about those venomous fangs, but that was long ago, and he wasn't a threat to her. Well, that wasn't true, she was sure that if they were on opposite sides he would bite her and surely kill her, he would hesitate at first she hoped. But she didn't have to worry about that, after all for the most part neither of them cared for the war that was going on with his race and her cousins. And if it came down to it, Yali would most likely join the nagas, they were kinder to her then the mers.
The siren let out a laugh at his words, and returned his smile with one of her own. She had smaller fangs, but no poison. βI thought you would like that one, but sure, next time I will sing you a longer song in return for a story of the human king. But make it a good one ok?β
Yali turned around to look outside and frowned. She really didn't know why she turned around, but she had. And there was something in the distance coming at the small patch of land rather rapidly.
βSlither? What is that? It is coming rather fast...β
"Show yourself you fiend!" Yelled Jo'shu as he led the woman behind a tree for safety. "wait here Miss, I'll take care of this." Jo'shu crouched low as surveyed in the direction where the arrow came from. He needed to approach this situation cautiously, as he found it difficult to keep up his Glamour after injury

In an instant, the blood-colored mist had engulfed her body, and she shattered outward, forming at the same time in the corridor leading toward the front gate. Swinging aside the door with her power, she stared forward at the unusual being before her.
Clad in a dark cloak, the boy's features were difficult to make out. However, Despair knew one thing immediately: the being that stood before her was no ordinary mortal. The aura of power around him was much too great in her well-attuned eyes to mark him out as anything short of prodigious. This was not good, perhaps even worst-case.
"Oh? I wasn't expecting a powerful magus to show up on my doorstep. Not many come so far into the desert. Perhaps you've come in search of the pillar?" She asked coolly, a slight, wry smile playing upon her lips. It seemed misfortunes were following her one after another. First the issues in her ordinary life, and now her plans beginning to fall apart in this world. But there was no option but to carry on. Because of that, she couldn't falter for an instant.
βSlither, there is an ifirit outside...he wants to thank me for singing I think...β
Srinivas raised an eyebrow and looked her dead in the eyes before he asked the most important question of all. βIs he cute?β
The siren rolled her eyes before shrugging her shoulder. βI don't know, your type changes.β
While Yali and Srinivas were talking about the ifirit outside another voice echoed into the cave. This one a female. What in the gods name was going on. They hardly ever were disturbed by people, other nagas from time to time, mainly Srinivas's lovers, but not ifirits, and hardly ever anyone female.
After some prodding from her friend Yali decided to venture outside, Slither came with her as far as the entrance, putting on a unique pair of gauntlets where the fingers were sharpened to a deadly point.
βHello? Um I was the one singing...and may I ask why you are all here? You are making my friend rather nervous.β Yali said, trying to keep her head covered with the hood on her new robe.
The answer was simple, she was a hostess. She was paid to drink and be a flirt to men, not all were this...disgusting in appearance and personality. In short this client was a pig, and as soon as he was gone she would request to her boss to have him blocked, at least take him off of her list. Jane Doe slapped at his hand, though she giggled while doing so. βOh stop it you.β Or else I will break your hand. God what a pig. I wish he would go away...how much longer do I have with this guy... She risked a look at her watch...and was rewarded with her client slapping her across the face...hard.
The noise in Avallon immediately stopped as the loud smack echoed in the room. Everyone was frozen as Jane raised her hand to her face, resting it on the now red hot skin of her cheek. Her eyes were welling up with tears. She opened her mouth and screamed in the silence of the club, βSECURITY!!!β
Three large men in black suits dragged the man away, while Jane brushed off her dress and stormed up to her boss. βThat man has to be banned from the club. And I am going home.β She stated before heading to the employee room. She picked up her jacket and purse, and taking out her contact before walking out of the club. Once outside she pulled out a cigarette and lit it, resting outside of the club for a moment. βGod damn it...he hit hard.βShe said as she rubbed her cheek, looking around at the people with her strange eyes. One was a light brown, and the other was a dark blue. She stayed outside for awhile, watching the people before she finished her cigarette. She dropped it on the ground and put it out with her shoes before going back to her one bedroom apartment. Jane flopped on her bed and was quickly asleep.
Aukanai'i woke up on the cold hard ground, the only thing underneath her was a few blankets. Next to her was a soft bed made of feathers, something that one may see in a nobles house. She disliked it. It was too soft for her liking, though the ground was a hard it was better then feeling like one was sinking in a sea of fluff. Aukanai'i sat up and stretched her naked body and let out a sigh. She always felt odd in the city of elves, it was one of her many stops on the way to the mountains. Though she really didn't like some of the elves. While they were polite enough they always seemed to look down on her and how she dressed. If she boiled it down, she believed that they thought that her and the rest of the Itwik tribe were barbarians and primitive. She disagreed. But she would keep her thoughts to herself.
The woman stood up and continued her daily stretching routine, standing by the window naked. The sun was just touching the sky, the dark clouds becoming tinted with rosy pink hues. But that didn't mean that she was the only one awake, which was proven when she saw a rather attractive male elf pass by her window. He happened to glance inside and what he saw...well his cheeks turned a rather brilliant shade of scarlet and the elf hurried on by. She wasn't embarrassed by the incident, her body was nothing to be ashamed of, but she supposed that she should get dressed.
The young woman quickly ran a comb through her hair and then grabbed a small jar on a wooden table. She opened the jar and poured the wet contents into her hand, standing before the large mirror she painted her body with the dark brown paint. She stood before the mirror, turning around slowly a few times to make sure that she did everything correctly before she grabbed her spear and blow gun and headed to the other side of the room.
Aukanai'i slipped into her clothing, a simple pair of tanned leather garments, they didn't cover much, and she got a lot of stares usually when she was going around cities, mainly from males. Which was part of the reason why she disliked cities. She put on her belt, it was decorated with a skull and feathers, along with a red leather flap that hung between her legs. She tied on her sandals before heading out the door.
The city of the elves was certainly beautiful, they way they blended in the city with the natural landscapes...but for some reason she also found it annoying. She much rather preferred the huts of her home village up in the trees then this. But she would never say so to the elves. It would be rude of her too.
Aukanai'i strolled down the paved pathway, giving a few of the elves polite nods before strolling up towards the palace. She had to greet the Elven king and she heard the summer fae was coming, so she should probably give her respects.
She was immediately stopped by the guards, they didn't realize that she was an envoy of the Itwik chieftess, not to mention on of the chieftesses must trusted warriors.
After arguing with the guard, explaining to him that she was trying her hardest to pay her respects to the king. She was at the point where she was about to walk away in frustration when she remembered that she carried the symbol of her tribe, something that only one of the trusted were allowed to carry.
βOne second.β Aukanai'i stated, her voice bordering on the annoyed as she reached to the left side of her hip and untied a small item. It was a necklace made out of a boar's tusk that was strung on a leather strap. The tusk had carved deeply into it an arrow going through a circle, the symbol of the Itwik tribe. βSee this? This shows who I am and where I am from. So let me in to see the king already. I have another stop to go to, I am trying to get to the mountains in a few days.β
The guard took the necklace out of her hand and exaimained it, turning it over and over again until he was satisfied that it was real. βYou may enter.β He said, dropping it into her open hand.
Finally she was allowed entrance, and she entered into the elven palace. Another elf met her there and showed her the way to the throne room. Anukanai'i stopped short of the throne and gave the king a curt bow. βGreetings King Xanderlos, my chieftess sends her greetings and gave me a gift to give to you.β
Anukanai'i reached into the small bag on her side, her fingers rummaging around before she came out with a small carving of the sun made out of quartz. βShe hopes it pleases you, and we also have a gift for the summer fae, if they are here and are willing to take it.β
The young woman waited for the reply, her body stiff like that of a solider.
"Oh? I see. I am Yuki Cross, magical researcher and independent adventurer into the secrets of this pillar. While I extend my hospitality to you, I must warn you that this castle - a Treasure of the Unrestricted Magic rumored to have been given to our ancestors - is very ill furnished for housing guests, and the aura of the pillar is difficult to bear, at times, especially for those strong in magic. Oh, forgive me for making assumptions, but since you somehow managed to appear in my courtyard five miles in the air, I assume you do have at least some talent for the Arts. In any case, if you feel yourself capable of bearing the hardships of staying in this place, then please, come in." Turning him away would only arouse his suspicions - if the fact that her castle was heavily protected by magical barriers and wards had not already - and she needed to get an alibi. The words of a messenger could have the armies of the world amassing to combat her, even if her true plans were not known. Thus, the only option was to play along, for now.
