Survival tip #1: Don't Look Back
I know how big of a clichΓ© that is my dear readers but to look back on the past and get stuck in those memories is dangerous now. If you look back you won't want to look forward...Don't get me wrong though! Its okay to "remember" just don't dwell on those memories and everything will be A-OK.
What you need to do is find a way to keep going. Something that will help you survive so that when this is all said and done we can pick up the ragged pieces of the world and put it all back together. I know it seems extremely hard but I KNOW we can all do this. If not for yourselves then for the future generations that will only have the faintest recollection of this event and stories to go by.
We can do this guys, stay strong.

"Real helpful," Maya snorts angrily as she hits her fist against the radio. Trying to get it to come back on since the interruption seemed to make it stop working. She throws an angry fist against it once more before sighing and sitting back in her seat.
"You aren't helping much either," TJ points out in annoyance, gripping the steering wheel tightly. He looks in the rear view mirror to the other passengers in the van. His cousin and Maya's nephew - what a group they have. He has no doubts that they aren't likely to get through this. Not toting a kid and an emotionally compromised girl around. Maya, ever hopeful Maya just wouldn't listen to reason. TJ has always hated that about her, the way she always holds hope even in the most grim of situations. Something he could never do even when.....No, he doesn't feel like thinking about it. No use looking back now. Marcella may be dumb in more ways than one but she gives good enough tips.
Maya glares at TJ for a long, drawn out moment. Opening her mouth to say something before stopping herself with a shake of her head. Talking to TJ is like trying to teach a dog how to talk.
"Whatever," Maya replies, crossing her arms. She hates arguing, she does it enough these days with Vince and she would rather not do it with TJ. She wishes Cole would say something to TJ, but Maya figures its an automatic family thing to ignore each others obvious flaws.
"So whats the big plan?""The big plan is to get the fuck out of dodge," TJ replies, deadpan. He makes a sharp turn and jostles Maya in her seat. She bites back an angry reply. He gives her a passing glance and shrugs.
"Thought you were the one with the plan Maya.""Like you would even listen to any plan I have." She snorts.
TJ shrugs again, smiling now as he takes another turn. His eyes looking out to the road ahead of him. Theres a slight tension in the air, like another argument is going to start up at any time but all is quiet for now. Maya enjoys the silence while it lasts, hoping to god the drive out of town remains just as peaceful as this.
Are you guys doing okay back there?" Maya asks, her question pointed more towards Vince.
"Should we have a seat switch yet?" For the past three hours they had been switching seats with each other like clockwork. Only TJ, Cole, and Maya could drive the car so they made sure that Vince at least got the front seat every once in a while - it was only fair.
"We can switch at the next stop." TJ says, cutting off conversation all together.
